Ghost Announce 2023 ‘Re-Imperatour’ U.S. Tour Dates With Amon Amarth

Ghost have announced their first set of U.S. tour dates for 2023. Dubbed the  Re-Imperatour,  the 27-date tour will feature Amon Amarth as the opener.

The run will kick off Aug. 2 in Concord, Calif. and wrap up Sept. 11 in Los Angeles at the renowned Kia Forum. Amon Amarth will join Ghost throughout the entirety of the tour, except for the Los Angeles show. Tickets go on sale this Friday, Feb. 17 at 10AM local time.

Earlier this year, Ghost leader Tobias Forge teased that "good change" would be coming to the band prior to embarking on any of their 2023 tours.

“We’re going to come out with a little bit of change before that – good change," the vocalist told Metal Hammer . "We’re not going to go silent. Some things are public, other things not in public view, but there are a lot of things brewing.”

While it's unclear what Forge was alluding to, Ghost have undergone quite a bit of change as it is over the last several months, especially when their 2019 song "Mary on a Cross" went viral on TikTok , which exposed the band to a whole new fanbase.

As per Setlist.fm , Ghost's most recent concert took place in September. They have a European tour scheduled throughout May and June before returning to the U.S. in August. Check out tickets for the European shows here .

Ghost Will Haunt U.S. Amphitheaters on a Summer Tour

Papa Emeritus IV is coming to an amphitheater near you. Ghost , the Swedish hard-rock band led by the man of a thousand faces, Tobias Forge, has announced a U.S. summer tour .

Titled the Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023, the trek begins August 2nd in Concord, California, and plays 27 dates, wrapping up September 11th in Los Angeles. Along the way, the tour hits cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, Tampa, Austin, and Phoenix. Fellow Swedish metalheads Amon Amarth open all dates except the L.A. closer.

Ghost released their latest album, Impera , last year, a record that rails against bloated nations, empty leaders, and the glorification of stupidity. “We now have mechanisms within our own Western empire who are actively trying to, and to some degree have, created this time machine where we’re regressing,” Forge told Rolling Stone . “We’re flattening the earth. We’re submitting to stupidity, which is fucking unbelievable.”

Earlier this month, Ghost staged a pop-up exhibit at the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip in L.A. that featured memorabilia, from stage costumes to a “corpse,” from their supposed Sixties incarnation. They also released a new version of the Impera track “Spillways” featuring Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the  “euphoric spectacle”  (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had  “conquered metal and the charts”  when its fifth album  IMPERA  debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a  “sweetly constructed rock tune”  by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” —  IMPERA  finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee  Prequelle —or as ROLLING STONE put it,  “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.” The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of  IMPERA’ s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making  IMPERA  a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

TICKETS:  Tickets will be available starting with a Citi cardmember presale (details below) and Artist presale on Tuesday, February 14th. Additional presales will be available throughout the week before the general on sale starting Friday, February 17th at 10am local time on  Ticketmaster.com .

Ghost has announced details of its summer 2023 American tour, dubbed “Re-Imperatour USA.”

The band is set to kick off the new run of dates in Concord, CA, on August 2, touring across the country until September 11, when it will wrap things up with a huge show at LA’s Kia Forum. It will be joined on the dates by special guest Amon Amarth.

Tickets for the 27-date tour will be available through Citi cardmembers’ and artists’ pre-sales from tomorrow (February 14). Following that, tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (17) at 10am local time. For more details and to purchase, visit Ticketmaster .

‘Living In The Material World’: George Harrison ‘Lures The People’

How toronto became the epicenter of cool for canada’s summer of love, ‘the grand illusion’: styx enter the platinum stratosphere.

The “Re-Imperatour USA” tour news follows Ghost holding its first-ever pop-up event at LA’s Whisky A Go Go venue earlier this month. “Metal Myths Presents: Ghost – Reverence & Resurrection” paid tribute to the classic 1969 era of Ghost, a band that didn’t actually form until almost four decades later.

The exhibit featured artifacts that had never been publicly displayed before, including the band’s 1960 costumes and ghoul masks, rare magazine covers, and more from a treasure trove of ephemera.

Meanwhile, Ghost also recently shared a new version of its track “Spillways,” featuring guest vocals from Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. The new take on the song featured in Chapter 15 of Ghost’s long-running series of webisodes, with the installment in question documenting a karaoke session that goes awry in a spectacular and supernatural fashion.

AMON AMARTH continues to tour in support of their critically lauded The Great Heathen Army full-length, released last August via Metal Blade Records.

Formed in Tumba, Sweden, in 1992, AMON AMARTH has forged an extraordinary legacy over three decades of thunderous, anthemic metal, all rich in the magical imagery of Viking history, folklore and culture. From their underground smash debut Once Sent From The Golden Hall (1998) onwards, AMON AMARTH has been an unstoppable creative force. With a unique and unmistakable sound that combines the best of several epic strains of metal, the quintet has become renowned for their ageless anthems and explosive, theatrical live shows. With albums like 2008′s widely acclaimed Twilight Of The Thunder God and 2016′s conceptual triumph Jomsviking , the Swedes have been consistent standard bearers for heavy metal as a life-affirming and communal experience, armed with a seemingly endless stream of instant classic songs.

Now reaping the rewards of all those years of hard work, AMON AMARTH are now regarded as one of the metal world’s most vital and imperious live acts. They claimed a place on Slayer ‘s final tour of the US in 2019, to headlining festivals across Europe, to even playing a secret show in 2022 at Germany’s biggest Metal Festival Wacken, under the moniker Guardians Of Asgard , they have honored the adventurous ethos of their Viking forebears by taking their music anywhere and everywhere.

In 2020, the band decided to forge a new creative path, resulting in their most crushing and heroic full-length album to date: The Great Heathen Army . Recorded with esteemed studio guru Andy Sneap at the controls, The Great Heathen Army represents another bold leap forward for the band, as their trademark sound undergoes yet another skillful, evolutionary overhaul, both lyrically and musically. From the noisily rabble-rousing “Find A Way Or Make One” and the pummeling, pugilistic “Get In The Ring” to the evocative fury of “Saxons & Vikings” and the cinematic squall of the title track, The Great Heathen Army encapsulates the essence of this legendary band, while still allowing acres of space for new ideas.

Ghost Kick Off Summer US Tour with Amon Amarth: Photos + Setlists

The post Ghost Kick Off Summer US Tour with Amon Amarth: Photos + Setlists appeared first on Consequence .

Ghost have hit the road for a summer US tour , bringing fellow Swedes Amon Amarth along for the ride. The “Re-Imperator” officially kicked off with a packed show Wednesday night (August 2nd) at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.

Supporting their latest release, The Great Heathen Army , Amon Amarth got the ball rolling with a nine-song setlist that had the metalheads in the already full venue singing along. The band kicked off the set with “Raven’s Flight,” complete with a viking helmet drum riser, and two massive swordsman statues on either side of the stage. “Put Your Back into the Oar” was easily the crowd favorite of the set, as made obvious by the fans rowing along to the song. By the time the band wrapped up their brief set with “Twilight of the Thunder Guard,” the entire venue was primed for the headliners.

With “Imperium” blasting over the PA as the curtain dropped, Ghost hit the stage with “Kaisarion” from their latest album, IMPERA . Led by the one and only Papa Emeritus IV (aka Tobias Forge), the band tore through a 19-song setlist. Backed by his Nameless Ghouls, Papa provided showmanship throughout the set, and early highlights included “Rats” and “From the Pinnacle to the Pit.” From there, the band played “Absolution,” followed by “Ritual” and “Call Me Little Sunshine.”

Although the stained glass cathedral backdrop for the band’s set remained constant, Papa Emeritus did go through a number of costume changes. After closing their main set with “Respite on the Spitalfields,” Ghost returned to the stage for a three-song encore, wrapping-up the evening with the anthemic “Square Hammer.”

By the time it was all said and done, opening night of the “Re-Imperator” was a smashing spectacle, proving to be one of the must-see metal outings of the summer.

What happens if you shoot down a delivery drone?

As deep-pocketed companies like Amazon, Google and Walmart invest in and experiment with drone delivery, a phenomenon reflective of this modern era has emerged. Drones, carrying snacks and other sundries, are being shot out of the sky. In the Florida case, Walmart was conducting delivery demonstrations in Clermont, Florida — roughly 25 miles west of Orlando — when a loud sound was heard during the craft’s descent.

Live reviews

Ghost are, regardless of whether you're particularly into corpse painted, Satanic-inspired heavy metal, one band that you should not miss live. Their concerts are not simply events to watch but experiential, jaw-dropping journeys to embark upon, and here's why: The Swedish sextet, clad in black hooded gowns and pointed beard-masks (yes, this is a thing) are led by their singer, known as Papa Emeritus, who dons full skull make-up and the robes and hat of a Roman Catholic pope (aside from the upside-down crosses adorning them). As well as their appearances, the band add to the intoxicating atmosphere of their shows with a backdrop of faux stained glass windows, and burn incense to give the audience the impression of being in a church, about to undergo something more than simply watching a group of men play musical instruments on a stage. They achieve this by including the audience in their twisted act, for example during the song Body and Blood, scantily-clad women appeared at the front of the stage offering the 'Eucharist' of a goblet of blood (aka wine) to the lucky fans in the front row.

I saw Ghost at the Fillmore Silver Spring, shorty after the release of their highly anticipated second album, Infestissumam, and was, frankly, blown away by the quality of their live show. Their appearances and Satan-worshipping act are contrasted by the liveliness of their music, which while categorized as heavy or black metal, is definitely more riff and vocal-driven than most metal, with songs such as the single Monstrance Clock and even an amped-up cover of the Beatles' Here Comes The Sun as part of their catchy, dancable set.

Even if you are the biggest metal-phobe around, you should go see Ghost. If heavy metal is your jam, but you're really not into the whole make-up/ crazy outfit thing, you should go see Ghost. If you're a fan or the music but are undecided on paying for a ticket, you should most definitely go see Ghost. The entire experience is something intoxicatingly unforgettable, and you will not regret it!

The wife and I got into the game a bit late but Ghost is as much a part of our yearly plans as is eating, sleeping, and hydrating. We were fortunate to have caught their last two rituals in Sweden last year and were able to capture video of Papa III being pulled off stage during Monstrance Clock. We were so happy that we made the trip from the states because seeing the end of Papa III in videos is nothing compared to the excitement of seeing it in person, from the barrier, and right up front. This band is very exciting to watch and being able to share the experience with my wife has made our evenings with Ghost that much better. My wife met Papa III last year and we've had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Copia 3 times this year during the meet and greets in New York and Pittsburgh. We're looking forward to meeting him again 4 more times out of the 6 rituals we'll be attending in December. We also already have our tickets and vacation planned for the 2 upcoming rituals taking place in Sweden in February 2019. When they make their way back to the states in 2019, we will begin planning our schedules around their tour dates. Here's a short back story as to why they are so important to me. My wife and I were just a couple of months away from signing the official court documents stating we were divorced. While trying to keep things amicable we would meet to discuss things and we'd often listen to Ghost. By the time they would be coming Philadelphia that year, we would have been attending as two single individuals and no longer married. We'd have fun listening to them and as that common ground grew stronger, so did we and slowly began reconciling. By the time they did come to Philadelphia that year, we attended as a happily married couple and continue to do so today. Getting my wife back, I can honestly say, is all thanks to Ghost and I couldn't be more grateful to them or happier sharing the experience with anyone else except for Kelly.

The concert at Liseberg amusement Park was amazing. They opened doors at 11:00 am and there was already like 30 people waiting for the concert impatiently. Security guards and workers of the Amusement Park were very nice and help people when there was an incident outside the park.

The concert started at 8:00 pm without any problem, the crowd went crazy when they went on stage. The setlist was the following:

- Square Hammer

- From the Pinnacle to the Pit

- Elizabeth

- Con clavi con Dio

- Per aspera ad Inferi

- Body and Blood

- Devil Church

- Year Zero

- Spokosonat

- Absolution

- Deus in Absentia

- Monstrance Clock.

At the end of the last show was when 2 bodyguards came on stage and dragged Papa Emeritus III from stage and Papa Emeritus Zero came in, anouncing that the party was over and a new era was about to start.

I only got into Ghost recently and caught their show last night in Toronto.

I decided to get some cheap tickets because I liked the music and thought they'd be fun to see live.

They by far exceeded anything I was expecting. The creepy church vibe, use of incense(which I have never encountered before, very nice touch!), Papa engaging the audience at every opportunity and even took a few minutes just to chit chat and kept us roaring and laughing for more. The use of costumes and masks was amazing.

Being an introvert I don't really go out much, and when I do I just kind of sit there and enjoy the music and the show. This is the first band that's made me get up from my chair and actually get into the show. Next time they come to the area, I'm definitely saving up and treating myself to WAY better seating!

Oh my Ghost, this is the live ritual gig experience your soul is crying out for. Full disclaimer: I love Ghost to bits and have been preaching my dark passion for years. Seeing them live again - this time in a bigger arena off the back of a couple more hit albums - reaffirms the faith.

Go and see Ghost and you will get a diverse setlist drawn from the band's spectacular back catalogue. You will get theatrics and pyrotechnics. You will get both humour and deep emotion, dark anthems and sublime instrumentals and an uplifting sense that you a witnessing something novel and special.

Ghost are - musically, aesthetically, spiritually - something to cherish and the live experience is one that is fun, compelling, cathartic and oh-so-damn-rock-n-roll. Go worship and have the time of your (after)life.

I can see Ghost every night and never get bored. It's not just the band and music, Tobias has created characters, including his own, for this band that are incredibly humble and patient with their fans. While the material can be considered risque, you will see children younger than 10 years old attending that are not only having the time of their lives, but participating in the meet and greets with their parents. Everything about these shows from the music, to the costumes, the characters, and the theatrics is so very much entertaining. We know as fans that there is so much more to look forward to with the future of Ghost and we'll have the opportunity to enjoy them for many more years. It is very exciting when tomorrow becomes today and you're standing in front eagerly awaiting Ashes to start.

If you have Ghost, you have everything.

Theatre; spectacle; a sense of cult worship; dark humour; thick fugs of incense; electric, otherwordly energy; lighting and atmospherics; collective frenzy; and most of all, the sweet music of the night.

Ghost are beautiful for so many reasons. Beneath their sublime subversive style - iconoclastic and gleefully irreverent - is a musical powerhouse making the most compelling and catchy rock in this epoch. The craftsmanship is incredible. The mystique is immense. It's a joy to behold in the flesh (and blood) and if you have the opportunity to absorb the spirit of Ghost in person, surrender to it.

Honestly, Ghost was one of the greatest entertainment experiences I've had. Join them in their ritual and hail your Master...

This was the best show I have ever been to (I have seen a lot too). Ghost put on an electric performance with great theatrics as well as fun conversational bits while the musicians took a couple minutes to get water, wipe the sweat off from under those masks, etc. We were also delighted by the pyrotechnics, fog machines, and surprise mummy dust confetti! Well executed and the band sounded amazing live. I wish I had gotten tickets for the following night too! I will definitely be seeing them when they come back into town. Ghost really knows how to stimulate all their fans' senses. Many thanks to the band for their commitment to their fans and the melodic tunes they share with us. Keep them coming please!!!

The Ghost show was truly amazing. For me, this was mainly due to two things:

1. Each and every member of this band knows his instrument very well, and they play their songs flawlessly and with ease. Leaving them energy to interact with the crowd while still not missing a note/beat.

2. Their concept is so well thought through. From the incense and small unveiling ritual before their set starts to the sisters of sin and perfected visual in set, movements and costumes, everything works brilliantly. And with Papa giving some background info to songs and rituals, you really get the feeling you are part of a well-oiled ritual.

I am very glad I've been to the show, and can't wait to see this band again :)

Awesome band! I had a older friend come with last night to the Stockholm show and even thou she said "It's not exactly my favourite but it was a terrific show, tunes to sing along to and this isn't the last time we do this!" with a huge smile on her face. This was my second Ritual, i love the costume changes, you really feel like your seeing a theatrical show instead of a regular concert, I'm use to sitting up front but this time sat in the balcony to see a spectacular light show and pyrotechnics, we sat in the upper balcony and could feel the heat from the pyro effects.I only wish i could have been yp front closer to Cardinal Copia,to get his blessings. Will not be the last time i go to see Ghost!

Ghost Brings US Tour to Emphatic End in LA: Pictures, Set List

Ghost closed out their Re-Imperator tour with a rousing performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles last night (Sept. 12).

The concert was the second of two back-to-back sold out LA shows for the Swedish heavy metal giants.

The first song of the night was "Kaisarion," the epic track from Ghost’s 2022 album Impera . Other early highlights included a soaring rendition of “Spillways” and the menacing "Cirice.”

Later, singer Tobias Forge – who was a commanding presence all night as his alter-ego, Cardinal Copia – appeared at a grand piano to perform a haunting rendition of Roky Erickson ’s "If You Have Ghosts."

As to be expected, “Mary on a Cross,” the hugely successful 2019 track that unexpectedly went viral on Tik Tok, garnered some of the night’s loudest cheers.

Ghost's Show Boasted Incredible Visuals

As fans of Ghost know, the music is just one element of the band's appeal. Stage design, pyrotechnics, theatrics and outfit changes are all part of what makes Ghost such an enthralling live act, and each of these ingredients were on full display during the tour-end show.

On the night, Forge made no less than eight costume changes, including several colorful and dazzling displays. Meanwhile, massive stained glass windows hung behind the stage, exuding an imposing, gothic quality.

At various points in the concert, a troupe of skeleton dancers writhed provocatively around Forge. There was also plenty of pyro, with flamethrowers, fireworks and explosions throughout the set.

See some of the impressive visuals from Ghost’s performance in our gallery below.

"Impera" was released in March 2022. The 12-song effort was produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace .

This past May, GHOST released "Phantomime" , a five-song EP which sees the Swedish occult rockers offering takes on IRON MAIDEN 's "Phantom Of The Opera" , GENESIS 's "Jesus He Knows Me" , TELEVISION 's "See No Evil" , THE STRANGLERS ' "Hanging Around" and Tina Turner 's "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" .

GHOST is no stranger to covers, having previously tackled material originally written and recorded by THE BEATLES ("Here Comes The Sun"),  ABBA ("I'm A Marionette"),  DEPECHE MODE ("Waiting For The Night"),  Roky Erickson ("If You Have Ghosts"),  METALLICA ("Enter Sandman"),  PET SHOP BOYS ("It's A Sin") and EURYTHMICS ("Missionary Man"), among others.

On August 27, 2023 world renowned band  Ghost brought the Re-Imperatour to Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater. With a whopping 6,800 capacity fans were rapidly packing into the sold out show to see Ghost  and their supporting act  Amon Amarth  a very different, yet interesting lineup.

Swedish melodic death metal band  Amon Amarth opened the night with a vibrant stage presence and performed their notorious “viking metal” with ease. Formed in 1992  Amon Amarth  has released twelve studio albums, the most recent in 2022 entitled The Great Heathen Army . Vocalist,  Johan Hegg , led the five piece band paying close attention to fans against the barricade causing the crowd to go wild over their nine song set. Opening with “Raven’s Flight” Amon Amarth also played several other hits including “Raise Your Horns,” “Guardians of Asgaard,” “Heldrun,” and closed out the night with a fan favorite, “Twilight of the Thunder God.” As the set ended you could feel the anticipation rising amongst the fans in Nashville ready to see the headlining act, Ghost .

Swedish rock band,  Ghost formed in 2006 has quickly made a name for themselves in the music industry. Most known for their elaborate costumes which include masks, gloves, and blacked out attire, they are also well known for their insane stage setup, flawless performances, and loyal fanbase. As the lights dimmed, and the white curtain draped across the amphitheater stage you could hear the first notes of “Imperium” begin dancing across the Nashville skyline. Fans were decked out in all things  Ghost , from merch to costumes, and face paint fans of all ages were ready to see the theatrical experience expected to come. Once “Kaisarion” began playing, the curtain dropped and we were greeted by the Nameless Ghouls. As fans screamed with joy, vocalist Tobias Forge joined the group on stage and began performing his heart out. As the crowd went wild all members of the band made sure to be interactive and provide a breathtaking show. Including popular hits “Rats,” “Call Me Little Sunshine,” “Dance Macabre,” and “Cirice,” Ghost  also performed “Spillways,” “Rituals,” and closed out the night with “Square Hammer.” With the first show in 5 years for Nashville, Ghost provided us with an incredible 18 song set, and gave us a guaranteed night to remember. With over 1.5 million Instagram followers and over 9 million monthly Spotify listeners, its safe to say we are only just beginning, and music city cannot wait to see them again soon.

The Re-Imperatour 2023 tour began on August 2nd in Concord, California and will hit several major cities including Austin, Indianapolis, and Albuquerque before finishing up on September 11th in Los Angeles, California. For more information on this tour and future tours click here .
