Please be informed that due to the high demand for visa application appointments in Karachi waiting times inevitably occur at the moment. The German CONSULATE in Karachi always provides the largest number of appointments possible. Cancelled appointments are also put back into the booking system quickly. So, if appointments are unavailable at a certain time, it might be useful to check the system frequently and not at a specific time.

Dear Sir or Madam,

on the following pages you can register for an appointment to apply for a long-term visa for family reunion or marriage (for stays exceeding 90 days).

If your registration was succesful, you will receive a confirmation email with your reference number. As soon as your appointment was allocated – this may take at least one year  - you will receive a second email (appointment email) containing further details about date and time of your appointment. This email will include two links, one to confirm the appointment, and one to cancel it.  

Appointments will be allocated chronologically. While entering your data, please note the following:

• Each applicant over 18 years must have a separate booking. Underage children only need an appointment if they travel alone.
• When registering, please select the number of people who are going to visit the Visa Section under "number of visitors" (e.g. wife + 3 children = 4 visitors). Entry can only be granted to direct family members who are applying together for family reunion.
• All information must be entered in Latin letters.
• Please enter all your data correctly and without any mistakes, as you will only be admitted to the Visa Section of the Embassy if your name and passport number as entered in your passport exactly match the information provided in your registration .
• Your passport number must be entered in capital letters and numbers, as mentioned in your passport, e.g. KN5120391.

Please make sure to enter your email address correctly; otherwise you will receive neither a confirmation email nor an appointment! If the confirmation email is not in your inbox, please check whether it has been sent to your spam/junk folder.

Important information for family members of recognized refugees in Germany:

Registration to apply for a long-term visa for family reunion or marriage is not a timely notification in accordance with Section 29 (2) 1 of the Residence Act!

To benefit from a simplified visa process, the timely notification must be submitted by you or your family member in Germany within 3 months after recognition as a refugee . There are three options:

• You take the initial step of submitting a timely notification via www.familyreunion-syria.diplo.de. Follow the instructions and submit the timely notification document with your visa application.
• Your family member in Germany submits a timely notification at the competent Aliens Authority in Germany.
• family name, given name, date of birth  and passport number of the applicants
• purpose of your trip
• family name, given name, date of birth  and residence permit of your family member in Germany

The highly developed social market economy of Germany is the largest national economy in Europe and the fourth largest in the world after the US, China, and Japan. Pakistani citizens who wish to stay in Germany for a short period to spend vacations, attend social and cultural events, educational seminars, and business conferences, meet family and relatives, participate in trade fairs and take a training workshop are required to apply for Schengen Visa for Germany. You must submit the Schengen visa application at the embassy or consulate of the country, which is your main destination.

In case, you are applying for a Schengen visa for Germany from Pakistan, the applicants from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan should make an online appointment with the Embassy in Islamabad . Applicants from Sindh & Baluchistan should meet with the Consulate General in Karachi .

Schengen Visa for Germany Requirements:

Although Schengen states have a uniform immigration policy pertaining to visa documents, the consulate general or embassy of a specific country may ask the applicant to submit additional documents for further examination. The general Schengen visa Germany requirements are:

• Downloading of the Schengen visa online application form and filling it with accurate and complete information, to the best of your knowledge.
• 2 latest passport format photographs with full face capture in high quality. The background of the picture must be in light colours.

The online appointment has to be made for an interview and biometric. Thailand has expanded its list of visa-free countries as it has extended visa exemption to 93 for the purpose tourism, business engagement, urgent work or ad-hoc work.

Nationals of the following 93 countries and territories can stay up to 60 days period in Thailand and can be extended for another period not exceeding 30 days.

“Extension of stay is solely at the discretion of the immigration officer. Before the maximum stay of 90 days are eligible to apply for a new type of visa in Thailand,” read the official statement.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan will consider a plan to expel hundreds of thousands more Afghans who have been living in the country for years, the foreign ministry said Thursday, the latest in a monthslong government clampdown on undocumented migrants.

The plan is still in the works, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch told reporters — and the government may ultimately reject it.

It would mark the “second phase” of the “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan” and it would involve persons who had been given identification documents known as “Afghan citizen cards” to legalize their stay in Pakistan for a limited time.

“At this stage, I do not have a date to share with you,” she said at a weekly news briefing in the capital, Islamabad, adding that an announcement about the action would be made “at an appropriate time.”

Pakistan’s crackdown on undocumented migrants has drawn sweeping criticism from the United Nations, aid agencies and human rights groups.

Since the deportations started, an estimated 600,000 Afghans have gone back to Afghanistan. After forcing thousands back daily, the deportations slowed down and appeared to halt in recent months.

On Wednesday, following a visit by the U.N. refugee agency chief, Filippo Grandi, Islamabad announced it has extended the stay of 1.45 million Afghan refugees residing in the country.

During his visit, Grandi welcomed what he described as the Pakistan government ’s suspension of the deportations .

However, Baloch denied that was the case and said there has been no suspension in the anti-migrant crackdown that targets those without valid papers . The deportations only involve those in Pakistan illegally — and they are being carried out in a “humane manner,” Baloch said.

She insisted Afghan refugees living here need not worry as their stay has now been expended.

Amnesty International said Thursday it welcomed Islamabad’s decision to extend one-year stays. Thyagi Ruwanpathirana, the group’s regional researcher for South Asia, urged Pakistan to “extend this lifeline to all Afghan refugees in Pakistan.”

She also urged Pakistan to formally suspend the “Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan” and top all forcible returns of Afghans in the country.

Pakistan has long hosted an estimated 1.7 million Afghans , most of whom fled during the 1979-1989 Soviet occupation of their country. More than half a million others escaped Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover in 2021, with thousands waiting in Pakistan for resettlement in the United States and elsewhere.

Baloch also urged the international community to expedite the process for the relocation of thousands of Afghans who fled the Taliban takeover, most of who are still in Pakistan, she said.

These Afghans have been desperately waiting for their visa applications to be processed so they could leave for the United States, Canada, United Kington, Germany, Australia, Italy and several other countries.

The delay in the resettlement has left these Afghans in a vulnerable position, contending with economic hardship and lack of access to health, education and other services in Pakistan.

Baloch’s remarks appeared to catch Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation off guard.

Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, a spokesperson with the refugee ministry, said they had heard through official channels that the deportations have stopped. He said no Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported from Pakistan — whether they had proper papers or not — and that there were no reports of arrests in the neighboring country in the past 24 hours.

Haqqani appealed on the Islamabad government to give Afghans enough time to leave Pakistan in an orderly fashion and that there be no forced deportations.

“Our second request is for our Afghan brothers to return to their country voluntarily,” he said. “Now there is peace in the country ... the refugees should return to their country.”
