As an Assistant Manager Hotel Stores you will oversee the daily Hotel Stores operation. This includes ordering, issuing and discharging requests from the Inventory system and loading Hotel Stores items and maintaining the Hotel Stores area.

You will report to Hotel Stores Manager

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ordering, issuance and discharging requests from inventory system (Food, Bonded and/or General Supply items)
• Load Hotel Stores inventory items from pier side
• Oversee organization and maintenance of assigned area and assist others as needed
• Assist and supervise Hotel Stores daily operations
• Follow-up on requests and pick-up schedules for all departments
• Complete daily USPH self inspection checklist
• Assigning/ distributing task and projects to HS Stewards
• Inventory of assigned area (Food, Bonded or General Supplies)
• Follow-up Hotel Stores Steward duties and responsibilities; train as needed
• Provide and submit technical reports via espresso
• Ensure placement of external requests; track order numbers
• Monitor daily fridge and freezer temperature logs
• Provide operational support to Hotel Stores Manager while onboard and pier side

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum two years experience in high volume Food Service Management, Inventory control and/or related ship experience
• Experience in Hotel Stores, Inventory and/or Stock Control
• Able to drive or operate Electric Pallet Jack
• Technical and functional understanding of the ship based food and Hotel operation
• Ability to calculate and control cost potentials/projections and understand the impact on budget
• Must be able to lift and move inventory boxes
• Ability to work and manage a team in unpredictable weather condition
• Computer proficiency in Windows Office programs required. Knowledge of Crunchtime is a plus

Additional Information:

This is a shipboard role

Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel

Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan

Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control

If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulation

Your Responsibilities:

Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)

Complete a pre-employment medical

Obtain a criminal background check

Bring approved work shoes

Responsibilities

Job description.

This position is responsible for providing project and administrative support to the Global CHRO as well as their direct reports and collaborates with Brand CHRO/HR Leadership Team.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, complex calendars, arranging detailed travel itineraries, team off-sites, supporting organizational structure changes, and other value-added HR programs including research, correspondence, and presentations. The successful candidate will possess outstanding planning, time management, organizational, and presentation skills. Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines while juggling a variety of tasks and requests is critical.

Essential Functions:

• Manage project tasks and timelines that require coordination with various teams across the organization. 
• Manage invoice payments and tracking for all department expenditures which includes use of MS Excel spreadsheets for recording and tracking. 
• Complete T&E statements for department and other reimbursement forms for approval.
• Department liaison for current and potential vendors and service providers and manage the invoice process as well as chargebacks.
• Coordinate all time and attendance related functions for the department, which includes using company time tracking system.
• Act as the department coordinator for Document Retention and Management, according to the company’s policies.
• Manage new employee onboarding process by ensuring employee is ready to begin work (equipment, network access, desk set-up/ clean, telecom)
• Proactively manage complex calendars and global schedules. Manage travel calendar to ensure travel does not conflict with standing meetings.
• Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements/agenda.
• Responsible for all logistics and coordination related to speaking engagements, department/group meetings.  These meetings may involve participants from multiple departments and Carnival Operating Companies and would include negotiating Hotel facility meeting rooms, catering, guest rooms, audio/video, Wi-Fi, etc.
• Handle confidential materials and personal matters with the utmost degree of care, integrity, and discretion.
• Organize, prioritize, and appropriately handle time-sensitive, confidential information and ensure action required is addressed in a timely manner.
• Able to create with very high proficiency PowerPoint presentations, SharePoint sites, and Excel spreadsheets.
• Provide project administrative assistance as required, including:  Coordinating and preparing department and project budgets-based input from department management.  Coordinating all document repositories regarding projects and other internal documents.  Developing project briefs and presentations as may be required.  Manage and collate data requests.
• Manage SharePoint sites by posting notes, presentations, action items, etc.

Qualifications:

• Education:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Required Years and Area of Professional Experience:  10 years
• Preferred Experience & Type:  This position will complete administrative duties for GCHRO, direct reports, and others within the department as may be needed. This role demands a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently on assignments with sound judgment, proactively solving complex problems that impact the department. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals is imperative.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  The individual in this role will be a seasoned administrative professional with the following expertise and attributes:

• Senior level executive administrative support with 10+ years of demonstrated accomplishments.
• Exceptional interpersonal abilities and communication skills
• Must be able to work with various schedules as the job demands that may include weekends and late hours on an emergency basis.
• Requires demonstrated abilities to interact with both internal and external contacts at all levels, up to and including executive leaders.
• Must display the utmost level of professionalism and integrity in order to provide positive representation for the department and the organization.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and think and act proactively
• Ability to communicate confidently at the highest levels and build effective internal and external relationships.

Decision-Making:

• Operational:  Decisions focus on day-to-day activities within the company. Examples are: Handling employee conflicts, purchasing materials needed for operations.
• Standard:  These decisions are those that are repetitive decisions on a recurring basis and are commonly related to daily activities. They are relatively simple, relying on historical data and previous solutions.

Physical Demands :  Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.  Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.  May need to stand for long periods of time.

Travel:   None or very little travel likely.

Work Conditions:   Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. 

The hourly range for this role is $21.00-$38.00.  Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.

India to drive travel retail sales.

The president of the Tax Free World Association (TFWA) believes India will drive travel retail sales in the future.

Speaking during his last TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference (12-16 May) as president, Erik Juul-Mortensen discussed the state of the duty free and travel retail industry in Asia Pacific.

In his opening speech for the Singapore show, Juul-Mortensen said the rate of post-pandemic recovery has varied widely across the region.

“Last year, passenger traffic at both Hong Kong and Macau International Airports reached just 55% of its 2019 level,” he continued.

“In Malaysia, 2023 passenger volumes returned faster at 78% of their pre-Covid total. Changi Airport fared even better, seeing 86% of the 2019 passenger count pass through its terminals last year. Mumbai International Airport in India heads the pack however, serving 10% more passengers last year than in 2019.”

Juul-Mortensen believes that India will “drive duty free and travel retail sales across Asia Pacific and beyond for years to come”, and highlighted there were 149 civil airports in the country ­– double the number it had a decade ago.

“Nine more are approved or construction work has already started, while many others are planned,” he noted. “Delhi and Mumbai are both gaining second airports, and there is even talk of a third one for Mumbai.”

Citing data from consultancy CAPA India, Juul-Mortensen said outbound international departures by Indian residents were predicted to rise from 17.4 million in 2019 to more than 50m in 2030.

He also noted that the region’s passenger traffic would return to 2019 volumes by the end of this year, according to ACI World.

“Longer term, Airbus thinks Asian passenger flows will grow roughly twice as fast as the global average, and two to three times faster than Europe and North America, for the next 20 years,” Juul-Mortensen said. “The indications are for plenty of footfall in airport terminals.”

China remains ‘concern’

In regards to the China market, he said recovery has been slow due to cautious spending.

“Economic conditions today in China are a concern for many duty free and travel retail professionals, with a troubled property sector, weak consumer confidence and lower GDP growth than in recent years,” Juul-Mortensen explained. “The country’s shoppers are understandably cautious when it comes to spending.”

Despite the slower recovery, he cited a report by Bain & Company that said China would account for more than a third of global luxury spending by 2030, up from less than a quarter in 2023.

Juul-Mortensen also highlighted that Korea’s recent introduction of purchase limits and regulations on bulk shipments was an “important step in the right direction”.

Cruise boom

Speaking about the potential of the cruise channel, he said the sector had experienced “impressive growth” from a modest base.

Data from trade body the Cruise Lines International Association forecasts cruise passenger numbers will double between 2022 and 2027 to approximately 40m per year, Juul-Mortensen noted.

He continued: “Asia Pacific accounted for a quarter of those passengers in 2022. This is a sector worth watching in Asia Pacific, especially since cruise passengers spend more on average than air passengers.”

Regarding sustainability, the TFWA president said the sector needed an “industry-wide approach” as it tops the list of traveller preoccupations, and criticised the lack of “coherent labelling or in-store communication”.

He also called on the industry to adapt to consumer preferences and create “engaging activations” to reach travellers.

Juul-Mortensen concluded: “As an industry, we must get a tighter grip on our market through data sharing, and show travellers a more serious, coherent approach to sustainability.”
