Rams Continue Party, Take Lombardi Trophy on Super Tour

  • Author: Connor Zimmerlee

While it has been two months since the Rams beat the Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI, they are keeping the party going well into the summer for their fans.

The Rams Super Bowl parade was hosted on Feb. 16 following their Super Bowl win, ending up in front of the historic LA Coliseum as a crowd of thousands of fans gathered to support their team one more time.

Now, in a little over a week, the Rams have announced that they will be taking the show on the road, allowing their fans that aren't in Los Angeles a chance to see the coveted Lombardi Trophy in person, with each stop being free to attend and including an opportunity for a photo with the trophy.

Aaron Donald holds the Lombardi Trophy at the Rams Super Bowl parade.

The tour will kick off on April 23 in Thousand Oaks, running all the way through June 4-5, where it will conclude with a two-day event at SoFi stadium for season ticket members.

However, despite the Rams taking the Lombardi Trophy on a tour throughout Southern California for their fans, one lucky fan has already had the opportunity to be up close and personal with the trophy.

Rams superfan Sal Martinez, the owner of Golden Ram Barbershop which is completely decked out in Rams memorabilia, was surprised mid-interview lately by Rams safety Terrell Burgess with the Lombardi Trophy.

For Martinez, who is a lifelong and diehard Rams fan, this moment was truly special to him. He was visibly choked up after holding the trophy, going on to say "it definitely made my decade."

USATSI_17357364

Terrell Burgess

USATSI_17693107

Now, much like Martinez, other diehard super fans of the Rams will get their moment to see the trophy and take a picture with it to keep forever. For fans who have waited decades to see their home team bring home the Lombardi Trophy, it doesn't get much better than that.

Everything You Need to Know About the Vince Lombardi Trophy

The vince lombardi trophy is awarded to the winning super bowl team. here’s more info about the ultimate honor in nfl football, by kristen conti • published february 3, 2023 • updated on february 3, 2023 at 2:28 pm.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy has been the highest accolade in the football stratosphere for the past 56 years, since the Super Bowl was born in 1967.

The trophy is named after the one and only Vince Lombardi, who coached the Green Bay Packers to two consecutive wins for the first two Super Bowls in history.

The NFL’s tradition of awarding the trophy ultimately recognizes the most outstanding team that season. It is an honor every player strives to achieve for their team.

But besides it’s indisputable level of honorary symbolism, what is it about the Lombardi Trophy that attracts such admiration? Perhaps it is the trophy itself.

Get Philly local news, weather forecasts, sports and entertainment stories to your inbox. Sign up for NBC Philadelphia newsletters.

Sports trophies have always been something to admire. Olympic gold medals are required to be made out of at least 1.34% of solid gold. The Stanley Cup is made of silver and nickel alloy, and MLB’s Commissioner’s Trophy is sterling silver.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy is similar in that it is made out of precious metal alloy. Here’s a little more about the treasured NFL honor:

The Vince Lombardi Trophy is the award received by the victorious team following the NFL’s championship game, the Super Bowl.

Currently, there are two teams tied for possessing the most Lombardi trophies throughout the entire NFL, with the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots each having six. The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys both have won five Super Bowl trophies. Most recently, the Vince Lombardi Trophy was awarded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.

Teams that have not yet won a Super Bowl include the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers , Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans.

Four teams have never played in a Super Bowl. Those teams are the Browns, Jaguars, Lions and Texans.

What is the Lombardi Trophy made out of?

The Lombardi Trophy is made out of sterling silver.

Every year, Tiffany & Co. silversmiths design and produce the admired accolade in Rhode Island. Actually, the very first Vince Lombardi Trophy was created in New Jersey, but since 2017, the award has been produced in Cumberland, R.I.

The trophy consists of a regulation-sized football mounted in a kicking position atop a pyramid.

How tall is the Lombardi Trophy?

The Lombardi Trophy is 20.75 inches in height, which is just a hair under two feet.

How much does the Lombardi Trophy weigh?

The trophy weighs 107.3 ounces , which comes out to about seven pounds.

What is the cost to make the Lombardi Trophy?

The trophy costs a total of $50,000 to make. The entire process takes four months and 72 hours to construct.

The value of the Lombardi Trophy is $10,000 , however, many deem the award priceless.

Can the Lombardi Trophy float?

Yes, the trophy does in fact float . The seven-pound relic must have less density than water.

Former NFL player Randy Moss proved this when he tossed the trophy straight into the East River during a segment with NFL analysts on ESPN.

Can confirm: The Lombardi Trophy does float 😂 pic.twitter.com/xwwUygL0cp — NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) September 19, 2021

Tom Brady tossed the trophy during the Buccaneer’s Super Bowl parade, following their 2021 win. And though everyone labeled the throw as “wild,” in truth, the trophy would have been just fine had it fallen into the water, because as we know, the trophy floats !

Does every player receive a Vince Lombardi Trophy if their team wins the Super Bowl?

Considering the monetary worth of the trophy itself, as well as the time it takes to produce just one, the answer is no, players do not all receive their own Lombardi Trophy. However, they are given a mini replica of the trophy, which is worth about $1,500.

The Lombardi Trophy is more of a team-winning honor, and when it comes to individualistic souvenirs, players look most forward to their Super Bowl rings. And these are much more than just accessories for championships.

Tiffany & Co., Balfour and Jostens have been some of the designers for the rings. According to Pro Football Network , “The Chiefs’ rings (from their 2020 Super Bowl win) showed how extreme these could be. Their ring boasted a total of 10 and a half carats of gemstones, including 255 diamonds and 36 genuine rubies. The teams’ rings came out to around a $5 million price tag for the set, though no official price was released.”

Hall of Fame Unveils Super Bowl LVI Vince Lombardi Trophy

LombardiTrophyLVI1050

The Road to Los Angeles and Super Bowl LVI began today at the Pro Football Hall of Fame as they set the stage for the 2021 season in a special exhibit.

David Baker, the Hall’s president and CEO, formally placed the Vince Lombardi Trophy that will be presented to the winner of Super Bowl LVI on display today inside the Museum. It can be viewed in the Hall of Fame’s Lamar Hunt Super Bowl Gallery.

Super Bowl LVI is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2022 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame is excited to kickoff the 102nd season of the NFL with the Hall of Fame Game,” Baker said during a brief installation for the exhibit. “A tradition in Canton is that we always get the Lombardi Trophy for fans to see it (in person) before the Super Bowl takes place. This is the actual trophy that will be presented to the winner of Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles.”

In addition to seeing the Lombardi Trophy, fans can relive the 2020 season and the Buccaneers’ second world title with a viewing of NFL Films’ production “Road to the Super Bowl,” which debuted earlier this summer in the Hall’s Super Bowl Theater. The Kansas City Chiefs are taking the Lombardi Trophy on tour.

The Chiefs on Wednesday announced the Chiefs Champions Tour, a "mobile brand experience" that will stop at multiple cities and states across the region.

The main attraction will be the Lombardi Trophy.

"We are thrilled to announce our Chiefs Champions Tour this summer," Kansas City Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a statement. "With a global pandemic in 2020, we were not able to celebrate properly with Chiefs Kingdom after our Super Bowl LIV victory, so this tour has been something we have been looking forward to for the past couple of years. We are proud of the team here that helped put together this summer-long trip that invites the Kingdom to celebrate with us."

The first stop since the announcement will be Omaha, Neb., and the NCAA College World Series on June 24.

The team is expected to announce future stops, but these are the confirmed locations and dates for the first wave:

  • June 27-28: Missouri State House in Jefferson City, Mo.
  • July 1: Scheels Grand Opening celebration in Wichita, Kan.
  • July 16: Helzberg Diamonds in Leawood, Kan.
  • July 17: The Kansas State House in Topeka, Kan.
  • July 23: The INDYCAR Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway.
  • July 29: Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph, Mo.
  • August 12: Lenexa Farmers Market in Lenexa, Kan.
  • August 19: Downtown Des Moines Farmers Market in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Chiefs said their visit to the White House and recent event at Kauffman Stadium were included in the tour.

Their visit to the White House:

The event at Kauffman Stadium, which saw redemption from Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce:

Gov. Parson will be hosting the Chiefs next week in Jefferson City, Mo.

"As the 57th Governor, I'm excited to host the Super Bowl 57 Lombardi Trophy that our Kansas City Chiefs brought home to Missouri here at the Capitol," Parson said. "We're proud to open this event to Chiefs' fans across the state to provide an additional opportunity to celebrate our Kansas City Chiefs and share in their Super Bowl victory. We appreciate the Chiefs for helping organize this event and look forward to welcoming members of Chiefs Kingdom to Jefferson City."

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
