About ross outdoor adventures, a passion for the outdoors, a family tradition.

Ross Outdoor Adventures was began in 2003 by owner Shelby Ross after a lifetime of hunting and fishing Central Washington, and growing up near the south shore of Potholes Reservoir. At the age of 14 he was running his parents boats all over the lake chasing walleye, bass, and whatever else he could trick into biting.

Shelby's career as a guide began in 1998, at the age of 19, guiding for Meseberg Adventures Duck Taxi on the Potholes reservoir. Soon he began guiding fishing trips, and offered airboat adventures for several years as well.

Shelby raised his daughters with a love of the outdoors, Ross Outdoor Adventures, and both contribute to the business today.

Today, Ross Outdoor Adventures is the leading, year round, guide service on Washington State's Potholes Reservoir, and other prime area lakes. From fall combination duck hunting and fishing trips to summer walleye adventures or winter waterfowl hunts, Ross Outdoor's Adventures strives to make your outdoor adventure a memorable one.

Whether you just want to catch fish, introduce your youngster to spouse to fishing, are interested in learning a new body of water to fish with your own boat, or you want to learn how to fish the newest techniques for bass or walleye - Ross Outdoor Adventures will tailor your trip to match your goals for a great day on the water!

A nice catch of walleye for owner Shelby Ross' daughters.

Custom Guided Hunting Trips

Remote Drop Camps

Remote elk and deer drop camps.

Our remote drop camps is an ideal solution for the experienced hunter who prefers a self guided hunt. But would like a little help from an outfitter. In our hunts the outfitter will escort the hunters on horses into camp where he will then familiarize them with the area

Remote-Roosevelt-Elk-Hunt-3 2015

You are responsible for providing license, tags, food and personal gear which includes weapon and sleeping bag. You are also responsible for field dressing and capping your trophy and packing all meat head and rack back to your camp. From there your outfitter will pack you and your trophy out of the wilderness and back to your vehicle.

Custom Guided Trips

Deadman Creek Outfitters

Share with us your hunting stories, come join us on an amazing adventure, big game hunting.

Our professional guides have been hunting this area their whole lives. They know the land and have a natural ability to know where good hunting awaits. Deadman Creek Outfitters offers a limited number of deer hunts for both mule deer and whitetail deer. We keep the buck deer harvest low at the landowners request. Given the abundant number of deer that roam the agricultural fields and bottom lands on the property, your chances of taking a nice buck are very good. All hunts are guided, and our success rate is better than 94%. You will see bucks. What happens after that is up to you! Here are just a few of our successful hunters.

Upland Bird Hunting

Southeastern Washington has a long history of producing an abundance of wheat fields mixed with spots of Milo which present the ideal habitat for upland birds. For this reason the Deadman Creek area is known for dominating production of quality wild pheasant, quail, partridge and chukars. Our 40,000 plus acres have some of the hardest flying birds you can find. The Deadman Creek area has a wild pheasant population that is consistently the best in the Pacific Northwest. These wild birds live up to their reputation, both as crafty prey and explosive flyers. The pheasant hunting is phenomenal and has been highlighted in sporting magazines such as Field and Stream. These hardy birds can present a challenge for even the most accomplished wing shooters. If you are looking for the challenge of hunting wild birds, we have what you are looking for .

Waterfowl Hunting

Deadman Creek Outfitters is located directly on the Snake River, and the opportunities for Waterfowl hunting are boundless. Part of the Spokane Flyway, Ducks and Geese begin arriving in mid November. Get plenty of shooting with your boat and decoys, or jump shoot the creeks on the property for mallards native to the area.

Packages & Pricing

Our hunts include guide service, transportation from Deadman Creek Club House to the hunting area, and field preparation. Our guides will put you in an ideal location for harvesting a BIG buck. This season is an ideal time to experience what Deadman Creek has to offer. Cool, crisp mornings and comfortable afternoons make for a very enjoyable hunt. Don’t forget to check out our accommodations if lodging is needed for your hunt. Remember to reserve early as space is limited and we book up fast especially during the prime hunting season.

Shauna with her first buck! Check out the war paint on her cheek, definitely deer blood!

Ethan and Freckles have a conversation about finding birds.

what are our guests saying

Having joined Deadman Creek Outfitters as a member in the fall of 2008 I have found management to always be friendly and accommodating, as well as a good source of local hunting knowledge.

I've been a charter member of DCO for 20 years! It's not a cakewalk...but if you have a good dog and like to hike...you're going to have FUN!!

The club offers lots of upland hunting opportunity for wild birds, as well as truly beautiful countryside. There also is plenty of access to public land for released and wild birds. Late season birds can be challenging but with effort are the most rewarding of all.

The property is vast and you can enjoy having fields to yourself or share with a friend from the club. It is what I like to call 'honest hunting'. You have to work hard to get your shots and those shots are seldom easy. Those hard flying, cunning wild roosters can be tough targets and tough to bring down. A good bird dog is a huge part of the fun and I have been lucky enough to have hunted over a couple of great flushing labs and now wonderful pointing dogs.

Established in 1999 as a private hunting club for upland birds and deer, Deadman Creek Outfitters offers its members a complete southeastern Washington hunting experience.

The club presently manages the hunting rights to nearly 40,000 contiguous acres of private land in Garfield and Whitman counties. The land possesses a distinct character; from the rugged breaks of the Snake River to the rolling ridge tops covered in wheat, barley, and native grasses to meandering streams with fertile valleys and steep canyon walls. Easily accessible, though appropriately remote, this outstanding hunting club is located 20 miles north of Pomeroy, Washington and 100 miles south of the city of Spokane.

Follow us and be a part of our adventures community.

Bay SHire Horses

A Family Legacy

BAY Shire Horses

The vision of the Anderson Family Shire horses started  back when my father, Mel Anderson, was a young boy growing up in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.  He told us this story.  A road was being built not far from his home.  Being sometime in the 1920s, horses were used to clear the trees from the roadbed.  He said he watched a pair of Shire horses.  Men would hook the horses to a stump and they would pull with all their heart.  My Dad never forgot this.

WELCOME TO LOWER SNAKE OUTFITTERS

hunting trips wa

Welcome to our family-owned business where we have a passion for God, family, and the outdoors. We are excited to share this little piece of heaven with our guests. With over 20 years of experience and knowledge hunting this area, we are prepared to give others the excitement and thrill that hunting open country Mule deer provides. Located in Eastern Washington, the Lower Snake River breaks offer some of the best mule deer and coyote hunting around. Our hunting grounds provide multiple types of vegetation that deer love including young winter wheat, wheat stubble, lots of CRP grasslands, and plenty of sagebrush. The vast majority of deer on our property migrate down from the north, but there are still some local herds that hang out all year. As firearm season approaches, the deer start to move in (mid-October), and by the time Muzzleloader season rolls around, we are usually loaded with deer, and the rut is in full swing. That being said we DO NOT guarantee an animal or shot opportunity due to it being a migration hunt. The weather can play a pivotal roll in migration but out of the 20 years of hunting we've only witnessed 2 drought years that caused little to no migration, and there were deer still harvested those years. We also offer coyote hunting trips after all deer seasons are over until the end of the license year (March 31st). Join us for an unforgettable hunting experience!

Wash. Teacher Avoids Jail Time After Sexually Abusing Teen in Her Home While Husband Was on Hunting Trip

McKenna Kindred, 25, was sentenced to two years of probation for having sex with a 17-year-old student, authorities said

KXLY 4 News Now/ Youtube

A Washington State high school teacher was sentenced to 24 months of probation for sexually abusing a 17-year-old boy at her house while her husband was on a hunting trip, according to reports.

McKenna Kindred, 25, of Liberty Lake, was initially charged with first-degree sexual misconduct and communication with a minor for immoral purposes, court documents show, KXLY reported.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, the former Central Valley High School teacher pleaded guilty Thursday to amended charges of second-degree sexual misconduct with a minor and communication with a minor for immoral purposes, The Spokesman - Review reports.

In exchange, she received no jail time, The Spokesman-Review reports.

She was ordered to pay $700 in fines and fees and must register as a sex offender for 10 years, The Spokesman-Review reports.

"I know this past year has been incredibly difficult for all involved,” Kindred said in court Thursday, KHQ reports. “As a result of my actions, I've lost my career, valuable friendships, freedoms and have let down countless people who placed their trust in me. My mental health has also significantly been affected by this event. I am deeply ashamed of the pain I have caused.”

The abuse came to light in Dec. 2022 when students told school officials they believed Kindred was having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student, The Spokesman-Review reports.

The students said the 17-year–old was messaging Kindred on Instagram, court documents show, KXLY reports. The students told officials the teen was “defensive” when they asked him about it, court documents state, The Spokesman-Review reports.

Photos of messages were sent to the investigating deputy, including "we almost got caught," "when other girls talk about you in my class I could feel myself getting mad," and "I really like being touched by you,” KXLY reported.

Around that same time, on Dec. 1, 2022, Kindred notified the principal, assistant principal and a school resource officer that she was being harassed online by someone accusing her of engaging in inappropriate relationships with students, KXLY reported, citing court documents.

In the ensuing investigation, a student told a Spokane County Sheriff's deputy that Kindred invited a 17-year-old boy to her house while her husband was on a hunting trip in mid-November 2022, court documents show, KXLY reported.

The boy’s mother told investigators that her son had a sexual relationship with Kindred, court documents state, The Spokesman-Review reports.

When questioned by authorities, the boy told them he began communicating with Kindred on Instagram in June 2022, court documents state, The Spokesman-Review reports. He told them they had sex at her house, the newspaper reports.

In court on Thursday, the boy’s mother called Kindred’s behavior “predatory” and an “abuse of power,” The Spokesman-Review reports. She said Kindred started to groom him when he was 16.

Kindred resigned last year, The Spokesman-Review reports. She has been out on bond since her arrest.

Her attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
