Types of Other Tourist Visas for Denmark

Types of Other Tourist Visas for Denmark

If you want to travel to Denmark on a tourist visa, you must choose the specific type depending on your trip’s purpose. For example, the following are the common types of visas that you can apply for while on your way to Denmark from India.

Schengen visa

A Schengen visa is the same as a tourist visa. It will allow you to visit Denmark or other Schengen countries for almost ninety days for tourism or business purposes. However, you cannot extend your stay in the target country/region for more than the specified period i.e., three months.

Work holiday visa

If you want to work in Denmark while enjoying the country’s lifestyle and culture, you must apply for a work holiday visa. Moreover, this visa has a validity of up to one year (12 months). However, as an Indian, you are not allowed to get this long visa.

Besides, it will be only available to the citizens of Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Canada, Chile, and Japan. In addition, the traveler must be between the ages of 18 and 30.

Transit visa

Lastly, this transit visa will allow you to enter and stay at the transit area before departing for a non-Schengen country. Please note that you cannot exit the airport of Denmark for tourism purposes.

Denmark Tourist Visa from India Requirements

You must provide specific documents to the Danish embassy for them to process your application for a tourist visa. However, the type of visa you apply for to visit Denmark from India will determine which documents you need to submit.

To expedite the visa application process, if you are visiting the target nation for tourism, remember to bring the following paperwork to the embassy.

When you apply for a tourist visa for Denmark from India, you must submit a diplomatic passport to the embassy. Moreover, your passport should not be older than ten years.

Apart from this, it should fulfill other visa requirements. For example, it must contain two blank pages for stamping. In addition, the passport must have a validity of at least three months beyond your exit from Denmark.

Visa application form

Visa application form Denmark

You can download the visa application form from the official site of the Danish embassy. Moreover, you can also pick it up physically from the consulate of the target country.

The form contains thirty-seven questions related to your travel and accommodation plans. In addition, filling out the form wrongly will lead to your visa rejection. If you are unclear about any question, write N/A in that blank.

The embassy also requires you to submit two passport-size pictures. However, make sure that they follow the Schengen photo guidelines. For example, this may include the following:

  • The photo’s dimension should be 35*40mm.
  • It must cover 80 percent of your face.
  • You must have a neutral facial expression.
  • The photo must bear a light color background such as white or grey.
  • Avoid face-covering accessories like hats and sunglasses. Make sure your head covering does not cover your face if you wear it for religious reasons.

Proof of accommodation

Hotel Booking For Visa Application

Generally, when you plan a trip, you want to make sure that you have a place to live such as a resort or a house. Similar is the case when traveling internationally. When heading out to Denmark from India, the embassy wants to know that you have managed your stay in Denmark, i.e., having a place to accommodate.

For this purpose, you can submit a hotel reservation, a rental contract for an apartment or house, or an invitation letter from a Danish host.

Travel and medical insurance

Travel Insurance For Schengen Visa Application

Additionally, to secure your journey and trip’s essentials from any unexpected situations, you must purchase travel and medical insurance. Moreover, it must have a coverage amount of at least 30,000 euros to compensate for any health emergencies such as surgery or illness.

It will also help you if you lose your luggage/passport or cancel your flight.

Proof of flight reservation

PROOF OF FLIGHT RESERVATION

Another item you must submit to the embassy is proof of flight reservation . This document will help them know your flight details such as flight and seat number, booking ID, the names of the entry and exit airports, IATA codes, passenger name record, etc.

However, please note that it is not a real ticket but a fake one. You can buy the actual ticket once your visa is approved.

Proof of financial means

You cannot just think of going on a trip and flying out of your home country. For this purpose, you must show that you have enough financial resources to manage your trip. Besides, it will help the embassy know that you will not put a burden on the state of Denmark.

So, you can submit a salary slip or bank statement from the last six months. In either case, you will need a Danish host to act as your guarantor.

Cover letter

You can also write and submit a cover letter to strengthen your application. A cover letter will help the embassy know the duration of your stay, the purpose of your trip, and when you will return.

Moreover, if you fail to submit any of the requested documents, you can explain the reason in this document.

The application process for a tourist visa from India to Denmark does not only rely on the submission of these documents. Moreover, the embassy also requires you to show that you have paid the visa fee.

Therefore, you must attach the payment receipt with the rest of the documents as proof.

Proof of civil status

Another requirement is to show your civil status. For this purpose, you can submit your marriage certificate, birth certificate of your children, or death certificate of your spouse (if applicable).

STANDARD PROCESSING TIMES

Due to unusually high volumes of visa applications the processing time is currently longer than usual, and there are fewer available appointment slots at VFS Global.

The processing time for visa applications are currently up to 45 days. We regret the inconvenience this may cause, but assure that applications are handled as swiftly as possible.

A visa application can be launched as early as 6 months prior to the arrival date in Schengen, and we strongly encourage applicants to apply as early as possible. It is possible to apply up to 6 months prior to the desired date of entry Here is why:

  • It can take up to 14 days to obtain an appointment with VFS for submitting your application.
  • Case processing does not begin until the application arrives at the Consulate General of Denmark in New York. Hence, your application is not launched when you apply online, or when you have your appointment with VFS. The shipping of your documents to and from the Royal Danish Embassy in Ottawa adds 1-2 days to the processing time.
  • An application lodged less than 45 calendar days before the intended departure may be accepted at VFS, but the final decision might be taken after the date of departure.

You can find the information on which third countries whose nationals or specific categories of such third country nationals who are subject to prior consultation on the Visa Code Handbook, Annex 16 .

Please note that case processing may be extended if further scrutiny is required

Also missing documentation at the time of the appointment at VFS may delay the processing time.

Please also note that the Consulate General cannot be held responsible for technical difficulties, human errors or shipping delays in the processing of visa applications.

It is the applicant's responsibility to notify the Danish Consulate General immediately, if incorrect information on the visa sticker has been detected.

Indonesia Planning Visa-Free Entry For Indians – India Report

Bulbul Dhawan , Skift

July 10th, 2024 at 11:00 PM EDT

India is already one of Indonesia's top 10 source markets. If Indonesia goes through with this plan to go visa-free, it will go a long way toward lifting that ranking even higher.

Bulbul Dhawan

The Skift India Newsletter is your go-to platform for all news related to travel, tourism, airlines, and hospitality in India.

Indonesia is planning to introduce visa-free entry for tourists from 20 nations, including India. The country’s tourism minister, Sandiaga Uno, has announced that the policy is in the works and it will be finalized before October this year. The move aims to boost international tourism in Indonesia, Uno said.

Apart from India, Indonesia is planning to allow visa waiver to Australia, China, Japan, the U.S., South Korea, France, Germany, Qatar, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and more.

A similar move was under consideration by the Indonesian government last year and it was expected to be in place by January.

Indian Tourists in Indonesia: According to Indonesia’s official statistics portal – BPS-Statistics Indonesia – in 2023, over 600,000 Indian tourists visited the country, making India one of the top 10 largest source markets.

Data from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) shows that between January and March this year, over 30,000 passengers from India departed to Indonesia.

Currently, Indian tourists wanting to visit Indonesia can obtain a visa on arrival either online or at Indonesian airports.

Visa Waivers for Indians: If Indonesia gives a go-ahead to the policy, it will join Thailand, Sri Lanka, Iran, and Malaysia in its visa waivers to India.

Apart from this, South Africa, Vietnam, and Russia are also considering allowing visa waivers to Indian travelers.

Domestic Air Traffic Dips in June

The domestic air passenger traffic in India witnessed a decline in June. According to credit ratings agency ICRA Limited , in June, roughly 13.3 million passengers traveled within the country, making a decline of about 4% from 13.8 million in May. However, the month also witnessed a 6.3% increase in comparison to June 2023.

June also saw a monthly decline of 3% in airlines’ capacity deployment from May, but this figure was 7% higher than June 2023 capacity, ICRA noted.

The agency’s outlook on the Indian aviation industry was stable as the domestic and international air passenger traffic continued to recover, it said. “Moreover, the industry witnessed improved pricing power, reflected in the higher yields (over pre-Covid levels) and, thus, the revenue per available seat kilometre–cost per available seat kilometre (RASK–CASK) spread of the airlines. The momentum in air passenger traffic witnessed in FY2024 is expected to continue into FY2025,” ICRA said.

Indian Medical Tourism to Hit $25 Billion by 2029

The market size of the Indian medical tourism market is increasing at an annual rate of 19%, according to a report by market research firm Report Ocean. The report noted that the market would hit $25 billion by 2029, up from $7.42 billion in 2022.

According to the report, affordable high-quality healthcare services along with high-end medical technologies are primary factors that will boost the medical tourism market.

Data shared by the Indian tourism ministry last year showed that the number of medical tourists in 2022 stood at about 475,000, up from over 304,000 in 2022. It also projected that between January and October 2023, over 504,000 medical tourists visited India. In order to capitalize on this segment, the government has formulated a National Strategy and Roadmap for Medical and Wellness Tourism.

Low-Cost Airline Air Kerala Gets Government Nod

Low-cost airline Air Kerala has received the no-objection certificate (NOC) from India’s ministry of civil aviation. The carrier is run by Dubai-based businessmen Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada. It is set to be the first regional airline of the southern coastal state of Kerala.

The entrepreneurs will now work on acquiring aircraft and obtaining Air Operator’s Certificate. It is planning to start operations by next year, with the aim to initially connect Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities using ATR 72-600 aircraft.

As per current plans, Air Kerala will begin regional operations and begin branching out internationally once its fleet gets 20 aircraft. Dubai is expected to be one of its first international destinations.

Indian Tourists to Turkey in 2024 Surge 34%

In the first five months of 2024, Indian tourists to Turkey increased by 34% as compared to 2023. Turkey’s tourism board shared that between January and May this year, 126,000 Indians visited the country.

In comparison, the country witnessed 274,000 Indians during the entire 2023. According to the tourism board, Istanbul continued to be a top destination for Indians.

Turkey is expecting India to be among the top 10 source markets in the next three years. It is also expected that this year, the number of Indian tourists will increase to 350,000, marking an increase of 30% as compared to 2023.

Thailand’s visa-free policy sparks a surge in Indian visitors

  • AseanPlus News

Friday, 05 Jul 2024

BANGKOK: The number of Indian visitors to Thailand has surged significantly since the government launched its visa-free policy for Indian passport holders.

The first phase of this policy, from Nov 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024, already saw a noticeable rise in Indian tourists compared to 2022.

In a bid to keep the number of arrivals up, the government extended the visa waiver from May 11 to Nov 11, and this time it began giving Indian nationals a 60-day stamp on their passports. The aim was to bring more Indian tourists to Thailand, mitigating the impact of India’s outbound travel tax policy, which was increased from 5% to 20% on Oct 1, 2023, potentially affecting Indian travellers’ desire to go overseas.

Patsi Permwongsenee, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s regional director for Asean, South Asia and South Pacific, said

Thailand can expect up to 2 million Indian tourists, exceeding the initial target of 1.7 million. During the first six months of this year (January to June), the kingdom welcomed 1.04 million Indian tourists.

This reflects continuous growth from 2023, when 1.62 million Indian tourists visited Thailand, up to 14% more than the initial target of 1.42 million. The tourists spent 38,052 baht per person on average, generating some 61.97 billion baht for the economy.

However, these numbers are still low compared to before the pandemic in 2019, when the Indian tourist market saw 1.96 million visitors, who spent an average of 40,814 baht per trip, contributing over 80.04 billion baht in revenue.

Meanwhile, in preparation for a potential surge in Indian tourists this year, Thai authorities have been negotiating with several airlines to increase their aircraft capacity and routes.

This plan takes into account the high demand for travel from the young Indian demographic and the rising middle-income population.

Consumer behaviour in India has shifted from saving money to spending more on lifestyle, leading to more frequent foreign travel for leisure, weddings, celebrations, events and watching sports.

“Available opportunities indicate that India is likely to become one of the world’s largest aviation markets. In the near future, the new airline Akasa Air, will launch international flights, including to Thailand,” Patsi said.

In the first six months of this year, three airlines have added additional routes to Bangkok: Indigo Airlines introduced daily flights to and from Hyderabad on Feb 26; Thai Airways launched three flights per week between Kochi and Bangkok on April 2; and Thai AirAsia launched three flights per week to and from Visakhapatnam on April 9.

Since June 1, Air India has also doubled its daily flights between New Delhi and Phuket to meet growing demand.

Separately, CAAT and India’s Civil Aviation Ministry agreed in March to increase the number of available flight seats to 42,000 per week from 28,759 per week. Airlines responded to this positively with plans to adjust aircraft sizes and additional flights.

“Some airlines are also planning to launch new routes, like Thai Airways flying to and from Amritsar and Indigo Airlines introducing flights between New Delhi and Chiang Mai or Krabi. These developments are expected to become more concrete over the next two months as the high season approaches,” Patsi said.

Meanwhile, the top five popular destinations in Thailand for Indian tourists are Bangkok, Chonburi, Phuket, Krabi, and Phang Nga.

Potential secondary cities include Phang Nga, Krabi, Phuket (beyond Patong Beach), Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Pha-ngan), Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin), and Kanchanaburi.

Most Indian tourists to Thailand or 76% are independent travellers, while the rest opt for tour packages. First-time visitors account for 62% and the remaining 38% are repeat visitors.

The most popular activities for Indian travellers to Thailand include enjoying Thai cuisine, nightlife, beach holidays, massage and spa treatments as well as exploring historical sites. Current trends among Indian tourists focus on leisure, business trips, and increasing travel for weddings and anniversaries. - The Nation/ANN
