Red Hot Chili Peppers extend Unlimited Love tour to 2024 with 16 new North America dates

T he Red Hot Chili Peppers tour that began last year and continued in 2023 will extend well into 2024 after the iconic Grammy-winning rock band announced new dates this week.

The band, fronted by lead singer Anthony Kiedis, added 16 cities to its Unlimited Love tour, which began in 2022 after the release of its two latest albums, "Unlimited Love" and "Return of the Dream Canteen." The two albums are the first to include guitarist John Frusciante since he departed the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2009.

Frusciante's return to the band in 2019 marked the reformation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' core lineup, which also includes bassist Flea and drummer Chad Smith.

How to get tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers

The new batch of 2024 dates is on top of previously-announced February shows in Lincoln and Highland, California, as well as Tempe, Arizona.

Joining the Chili Peppers on the North America leg that begins in May and ends in July is Kid Cudi, Ice Cube, Ken Carson, Otoboke Beaver, Sean Kuti, Wand, and Irontom.

Pre-sale tickets have been available since Tuesday, with general tickets going on sale beginning Friday. Tickets can be purchased at  redhotchilipeppers.com .

Red Hot Chili Peppers Share New Single “Poster Child” With Trippy Animated Music Video [Watch/Listen]

Red Hot Chili Peppers  have released “Poster Child”, the latest single from their forthcoming LP,  Unlimited Love . The track, which arrives alongside a psychedelic, animated music video, follows “ Black Summer ” as the second song released from the new album, due out April 1st.

A fresh encapsulation of the band’s funky, laid-back style, the new tune is led with ease by Flea ‘s upbeat bassline and Chad Smith ‘s steadfast backbeat. A nimble-tongued Anthony Keidis adds his characteristically percussive vocals over the top, doing his best interpretation of  Billy Joel ‘s “We Didn’t Start The Fire” as he name-checks various “poster children” in American culture.

The animated video for the track is a trip in itself. Directed by Julien & Thami  with animation by  Julien Calemard ,  Thami Nabil , and  Hedi Nabil , the clip’s stylized film grain and faux-airbrush aesthetic flows from one plane of reality to the next as the five-minute jam bounces along, providing some brow-raising visuals to match the song’s easy-going groove.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are due to release their 12th album, Unlimited Love , on April 1st. The 17-track offering will mark the group’s first studio effort since 2016’s The Getaway and first LP with reinstalled guitarist   John Frusciante  since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.  The album will also see RHCP reunite with longtime producer  Rick Rubin  following his absence on The Getaway . Red Hot Chili Peppers ’ Flea has shared with his Twitter followers what his three favorite basslines are.

The band’s iconic bassist took part in a Twitter prompt this weekend that had been shared across the social media network site.

User @kingbritt asked users on the platform to share their favorite three basslines, with a wealth of eclectic responses. Perhaps the most famous person to take part, though, was Flea, who quote-retweeted the original prompt with his selection .

Flea chose Parliament-Funkadelic ’s “Flashlight,” which appeared on the band’s 1977 album Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome  and Led Zeppelin ’s “Ramble On,” which is taken from the British rockers’ 1969 record Led Zeppelin II .

His final pick came in the form of “Journey To Satchidananda” by Alice Coltrane . The song is the title track from the jazz icon’s fourth solo album, which was released in 1971 and saw the artist begin to transition from her songwriting style on her early records to a more personal approach on later releases.

This summer, Flea will be performing his own basslines with Red Hot Chili Peppers as the band headline multiple festivals around the world. Events on its itinerary include BottleRock 2023 , Chicago’s Lollapalooza , and Madrid’s Mad Cool .

Meanwhile, it will also perform a series of headline shows across the US, Europe, and South America, with the run extending until the end of November 2023.

Red Hot Chili Peppers toured with guitarist John Frusciante for the first time since he rejoined the band in 2022. Frusciante’s reunion with his former bandmates was announced in 2019, although immediate touring plans were put on hold due to the pandemic.

The guitarist first joined the California rockers back in 1988, when the band will still reeling from the loss of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak, who died of an overdose. The teenaged guitar phenom reenergized the group during their recording for Mother’s Milk (1989) and their crossover smash album Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) before departing and returning in 1998 for their albums Californication (1999), By the Way (2002) and Stadium Arcadium (2006).
