Here Is Troye Sivan’s ‘Something To Give Each Other Tour’ Setlist

On Wednesday, May 29, Troye Sivan opened his Something To Give Each Other Tour with a bang — making out with one of his dancers during “ Rush ” and performing “ Supernatural ” for the first time live. It’s possible that Sivan is using his solo headlining European and UK tour as an appetizer and dry run for his co-headlining Sweat tour with Charli XCX , a North American trek set for this September and October.

Where to begin? If you think Troye is precious, just wait till you after you've seen him live, precious-ness will rise. The concert lasted for 1h and twenty minutes and it was really great! He opened up with BITE and finished it with YOUTH and had very good song choices. Was alos happy surprised he sang Happy Little Pill, and he made a beautiful cover of a Amy Winehouse, besides that he sung all songs on Blue Neighbourhood besides BLUE. He had good charisma and you honestly could not help to smile. When he talked between the songs he was funny, entertaining and too pure. His voice was just as beautiful in real life that it's in recordings. It was a really emotional concert and he seemed to think so too since it was the last stop on the tour. If you have the chance to see him go, it will be worth all the money, queueing and waiting.

This show was just the best! It started with Leland, who was also really good and set a good vibe for the rest of the evening. It was such a special evening to be a part of! I would also add that I felt so comfortable during the show, the rest of the crowd was so lovely! Even though Troye didnt feel to well and was sipping his chamomile tea, the show didn’t suffer under it (not that I have been to a show of his before, but I mean can it really get any better than this?!). The songs he sang were nicely picked and made a good show, the band was on point and the light effect (especially the rainbow one) were awesome!! It’s just a shame he didn’t sing Blue, but I didn’t really count on him singing it so that was okay! Best show I’ve ever been to, would recommend 11/10!!!

Now imagine lights, coming down on him like the angel is he. Finally imagine a crowd of people dancing along with him, having the time of their lives. There you go. That's a concert with Troye Sivan.

Before coming, I knew I was going to have fun, I mean, it's Troye Sivan! But I really wasn't ready for what actually happened - a celebration of love, tolerance and music, a kid living his dream and owning the show, a crowd of people who share his values and opinions.

So thank you Troye, not only for giving us music that speaks to us, but for spreading love as well as you do, it was amazing.

Seeing Troye Sivan in concert is something I have wanted to do since the release of his first EP. His music has etched a significant mark on my life, and I will be forever grateful for the life lessons his work has taught me. I was honestly a little nervous, having waited so long to see him, that it would not live up to all I had hoped for. The result was the exact opposite, and I had a perfect night. There were a few highlights, for example, providing the story of his coming out experience before he played Heaven, when he brought a young fan on stage, the entire audience screaming "FIREPROOF" during Youth, and his explanation of The Good Side were times I will always remember. I would absolutely see him again, and I am so thankful for my experience.

So I saw Troye Sivan and Astrid S live in concert last night in Kansas City and honestly it was amazing! The best concert I've ever been too! It was Astrid's birthday and Troye brought a cake out to her on stage and she shoved it into her face and it was adorable! Troye was amazing! I knew pretty much every song! Troye's parents were adorable, they were dancing and singing along and videoing in what I like to call the 'Abe Lincoln' seats in the theater. I would definitely go again. Troye sounded almost exactly like he did recorded as he did live and it was so amazing. Can't wait until the next album/tour, will be definitely going if at all possible! He also performed 'Swimming Pools' which was amazing as always!

Really awesome show! Troye is awesome at connecting with the audience. His stage was awesome and the lighting and smoke machines made everything that much more impactful to the eyes. The lighting itself was art. He's an excellent singer and really loves it when the audience sings along, which is really cool if you're taking videos! He performed a two song encore because the audience insisted. It was a really wonderful experience, as someone who went only so my friend didn't have to go alone I was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of concert he has created! Keep doing good things Troye! Next time he's in Seattle expect to see my friend and I there!

The waiting for the admission was in the open, icecold and wet. No shelter enywhere ! Typical for Munich.

The first band of Troye was average. Show, songs and performance not really worth mentioning.

Troye at his best ! Amnazing how he mastered his

performance. Nice and cosy stage arrangement, excellently dressed up Troye, good sound, good light. His songs were clean, pure pleasure, with good lyrics. The public in between 16 and 30 years, half men, half girls.

A refreshing evening, a cheerful youngster who guided the viewers excellently through the show.

This show made yesterday one the best day of my life. Troye Sivan really tried his best during the show and put so much energy into it. At no point did i see anyone not having a good time. Even the security was smiling once in a while.

I would definitely recommend going to a Troye concert, he represents LGBTQ which means everyone is welcome! No lip syncing, and he communicates with the crowd. All the other guests were so friendly, you will have a great time regardless. This was my second troye concert, and it was just as amazing as the first (If not maybe even more amazing, since i was at front row!)

The concert was absolutely amazing. The Hollywood Palladium is so beautiful and just the perfect place for a Troye Sivan concert. The opening acts were amazing as well. FRANKIE and Astrid S are my all time favorites so it was kind of like getting to see three of my favorite artists for the price of one! I actually met FRANKIE after the concert and she was a total sweetheart. Mama Mellet actually waved at me and I almost died. I even met some of the Try Guys from Buzzfeed when I was walking to get in line for the show. Everyone in the crowd was super friendly. This concert is and will forever be the best day of my life.

Troye was amazing at his November 12th show in Boston MA. Dua Lipa, the opening act played and she was amazing as well! Troye's opening to the concert was so amazing and he teased the crowd a bit before he actually came on. He sang all of his songs off of Blue Neighbourhood, and also Happy Little Pill and Swimming Pools and every song was amazingly preformed!I had a seat in the stands but I still could see the stage... I had so much fun that night and I HIGHLY recommend any Troye fan to go to one of his concerts! No matter what seat you have, it's almost certain you will enjoy it! Have fun to anyone who goes!

Troye Sivan and Dua Lipa end ‘Suburbia’ Tour on a High Note

Amid his closing concert at The Tabernacle, Troye Sivan asked the audience if it wanted him to do something special to mark the occasion. A chorus of requests ensued and “rap” won the vote. Sivan played coy at first, but when the drum beat started he broke into an explosive cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Monster.” Though the song may seem out of place in the electropop artist’s repertoire, Sivan’s rapping skills proved another testament to his talents not only as a singer, but a performer.

Though the Suburbia Tour was Sivan’s largest world tour to date, he is no stranger to the spotlight. He rose to fame through YouTube, where he shared candid videos about his life, collaborated with other popular YouTube stars such as Tyler Oakley and Zoella and built a loyal following of over four million fans. One of Sivan’s most popular videos is one where he comes out as gay , and that video has since been followed by his many public campaigns to help the LGBT community.

His previous Blue Neighborhood tour was no exception to his endeavors to support the LGBT. The Ally Coalition, a group created by the band Fun and designer Rachel Antonoff to raise awareness for LGBT equality through education and advocacy, helped spread its message of inclusion throughout Sivan’s tour with a national photo campaign and booth at each concert venue. And the concerts themselves were a safe space for the hundreds of fans that came out — pride flags flew high and Sivan took some time in the middle of the concert to speak to the audience about coming out. Sivan said that though his experiences with coming out were largely positive, he realizes the same is not true for most people. Wrapped in a pride flag thrown onstage by an audience member, he shared his hope for a more inclusive world in which people are free to be themselves.

But the night began with Dua Lipa, a self-described “dark pop” singer. Lipa, who also began her musical career on YouTube, exploded onto the stage, belting out hits like “Be The One” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah).” Lipa has a uniquely deep and sultry voice,and her music really shines — an eclectic mix of pop, hip-hop and occasional rap. As Lipa danced across the stage in her baseball cap and thigh-high boots, the crowd swayed along with her. At one point in the middle of Lipa’s set, Sivan even popped onto stage to give her a hug, driving the crowd insane. Though Lipa wasn’t the headliner, she held the stage with the confidence of a seasoned artist and from the conversations I heard after the concert, she definitely won over the crowd.

When the first chords of Sivan’s “Wild” began to play, the cheering reached a new high. Sivan emerged from the shadows and ran along the stage, which featured four screens that showed stunning visuals throughout the performances, including shots of the sea, technicolor backdrops and of Sivan himself. Fans eagerly sang along with Sivan throughout the night, and the genuine connection between Sivan and the audience was tangible. Sivan stopped several times between songs to thank his fans for supporting him as he gets to do what he loves, and even reached out into the crowd to collect some of the many drawings and letters that his fans had brought to the concert for him.

It was surreal to see the person I had watched on my laptop screen for years singing in front of me. While his voice has shifted from the electric “Happy Little Pill” to the melancholy “Talk Me Down,” Troye remains at his core, the same charismatic character that drew so many people to his videos over the years. He is unapologetic in his identity, stating in an interview with Out Magazine , “[my sexuality] is not something that I’m ashamed of, and it’s not anything that anyone should have to be ashamed of.” Blue Neighborhood echoes that sentiment: it features a more mature voice, one that tackles love, loss and even some of Troye’s struggles with his faith, but it is, at its core, an album that celebrates the freedom to be who you really are.

Sivan’s success is a reminder that you don’t have to be born into fame to become wildly successful. Sometimes the first step just takes a little courage and a video camera.

Troye Sivan Announces North American ‘Bloom’ Tour

Following the release of his sophomore album Bloom on August 31st, Troye Sivan will begin a headlining North American tour. Kim Petras will open for the entire trek, with Leland and Charlie Hanson joining for select dates.

Sivan’s tour kicks off September 21st in Irving, Texas and runs until November 8th in Vancouver. His last headlining tour was in 2016 for the Suburbia Tour, which featured Dua Lipa as his opening act.

Ahead of the tour, Sivan has two live dates this summer. He will appear at Pittsburgh Pride on June 8th as well as at Hershey, Pennsylvania’s Hersheypark Stadium for Show of the Summer. He recently performed his single “ My, My, My!” with Taylor Swift at the Rose Bowl. Earlier this year, Sivan made his Saturday Night Live debut alongside host Jessica Chastain to perform the aforementioned Bloom single and ballad “The Good Side.”

Dua Lipa And Troye Sivan’s Friendship Explored As The Youth Singer Makes A Cameo On SNL

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, Saturday Night Live Kicked off its final run of episodes for the latest season with Dua Lipa pulling double duty as host and musical guest. The British-Albanian pop singer delivered a close-to-perfect monologue and even managed to take a shot at ‘puppy killer’ Kristi Noem referencing the viral story of the South Dakota governor killing her dog.

As the show progressed, Singer Troye Sivan made a cameo alongside Jerry Seinfeld, introducing Lipa for her first musical performance of the night. As Dua Lipa has often credited Sivan for launching her career, it was only fitting that he showed up to support his friend during the big night. Dua Lipa, the opener and principal act of Troye Sivan’s 2016 Suburbia Tour, has maintained a close friendship with the Youth singer for years. Here’s a timeline of their friendship.

Dua Lipa and Troye Sivan first met in 2016 and grew close while touring together at the latter’s tour. Since then, they have consistently shown up to support each other. In 2018, Lipa took to Instagram to give her close friend and former tourmate Troye Sivan a shout-out for being featured on the cover of Billboard’s first-ever Pride issue, writing, “@troyesivan you are an absolute superstar!! First-ever cover of @billboard pride issue! Here’s to many more @billboardpride,”

Lipa praised the Youth singer in the issue, describing him as a talented wordsmith whose authenticity draws people into his music, saying, “He’s such a smart wordsmith, but he’s very honest at the same time. That’s why people love his music. He says things people want to say but can’t find the words to say them.”

In 2023, Troye Sivan appeared during the season finale of Dua Lipa’s podcast – At Your Service. During the appearance, the close friends reminisced about the time they first met in 2016 during his tour and went on to explore the power of identity, with Sivan theorizing, “It’s funny because I think it always comes back to really core principles, you know, that doesn’t change that often. Like, you know, this is your identity and who you are.”

During the SNL episode, Dua Lipa performed the songs “Illusion” and “Happy for You” from her just-released third studio album, Radical Optimism. SNL will wrap up with two new episodes following Saturday’s show, bringing season 49 to a close.

She was the opening act for the Suburbia Tour from Columbus to Atlanta.

Biography [ ]

Indie pop singer Dua Lipa showcased a throwback vibe and knack for catchy pop with soulful grit, much like Sia, Jessie J, or P!nk, and a slyly rebellious air like Charli XCX and Marina & the Diamonds. Born and raised in London to Kosovar-Albanian parents, the sultry-voiced pop singer attended Sylvia Young Theater School (Rita Ora, Amy Winehouse) until the age of 13, when she moved to Kosovo with her family. However, the move wouldn't last very long, as she was back in London by age 15, living on her own and pursuing a singing career. Her first demos were released in 2012, attracting the attention of Lana Del Rey's management team, who signed her and linked her up with Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars). Her shimmery debut single "New Love" was followed up with the soulful "Be the One." Longlisted for the prestigious B.B.C.'s Sound of 2016 late in the previous year, Dua Lipa released her third and fourth singles in February and May respectively, partnered with a tour throughout the spring and summer. The latter single went on to break the top 20 in the U.K. and all four singles would appear on her self-titled debut album, released in the autumn of 2016.

Konzertkritik | Troye Sivan in Berlin - Queerer Star mit Gefühlen für Berlin

Mit 11 Jahren das erste Mal vor der Kamera, letztes Jahr in der Serie "The Idol" von The Weeknd, mehr als 22 Milliarden Song-Streams – Troye Sivan aus Australien hat am Dienstagabend im ausverkauften Velodrom gespielt. Bruno Dietel über die Show einer queeren Ikone.

Ist das hier das Velodrom oder ein dunkler, heißer Techno-Club? Diese Frage wird im Laufe des Abends an vielen Stellen auftauchen. Schon die Aufwärm-DJ Jodie Harsh, bekannt aus der Reality-Serie "Ru Paul’s Drag Race", legt in Sachen Intensität und Schnelligkeit so vor, als sei es morgens um 3 und nicht abends kurz vor 9. Dann erscheinen Troye Sivans Tänzer, er selbst tritt aus einem roten Lichtstrahl inmitten der Bühne hervor. Die vielen tausend Troyboys und Troygirls kreischen vor Freude laut auf, wobei die Boys hier ganz eindeutig in der Überzahl sind. Troye Sivan hat sich schon 2013 öffentlich auf YouTube geoutet – das Video hat mehrere Millionen Klicks , er gilt seitdem als eines der großen queeren Vorbilder im Pop.

Oralsex-Simulation im ersten Song

Es wird sehr schnell klar, welchen Vibe Troye Sivans Show im Velodrom erzeugen soll: Der Live-Drummer ist oberkörperfrei, die Tänzer tragen obenrum selten mehr als ein Tanktop. Schon im ersten Song "Got Me Started" hält einer der Tänzer dem vor ihm knieenden Troye Sivan ein Mikrofon so ins Gesicht, als sei es sein Gemächt. Offensive Oralsex-Simulation nach wenigen Minuten - die Halle feiert die sexpositiv-provokative Geste lautstark ab. Szenenwechsel, ein ruhigerer Song - Troye Sivan in neuem Outfit, er trägt nur noch eine rote Hose und räkelt sich auf einem mit goldenem Samt bezogenen Bett. Egal wie weit hinten man steht, alle können ihm dabei zusehen - auf drei Videowänden wird es durch die Kamera nochmal sehr, sehr nah rangeholt.

Nehmt Euch jemanden mit nach Hause!

Guckt nach links und rechts, schaut, wie "hot" die Menschen neben Euch sind - Troye Sivan will, dass hier möglichst niemand allein nach Hause gehen muss. Es geht bei seiner Show um Körperlichkeit und Sex, das sagt und zeigt er ganz offen: Troye und seine Tänzer an einer Stange, Troye Sivan und ein Tänzer gemeinsam auf einem Stuhl und später Troye Sivan und der Tänzer wild rumknutschend.

Sivans Musik hat einen warmen Synthie-Pop als Grundsound, der so häufig durch stampfend-schnelle Bässe getrieben wird, dass es sich schon sehr nach verschwitzter Clubatmosphäre anfühlt. Troye Sivan schwitzt von Anfang an und traut es sich aber kaum zu erzählen, das würde doch in der härtesten Stadt der Welt nicht gelten.

Viele Outfit-Wechsel und reduziertes Bühnenbild

Das ist die Show, die er immer machen wollte, sagt Troye Sivan über seine Tour zum aktuellen Album "Something To Give Each Other". Selbst bei den Songs über seinen Ex habe er live den größten Spaß, gesteht er grinsend. Das Bühnenbild ist angenehm reduziert, hinter den zwei Live-Musikern, dem Drummer und einer Musikerin, die so ziemlich alles von Synthie bis Bass spielt, stehen zwei Gerüste, in denen hin und wieder die Tänzer auftauchen. Für Sivan ist das Tanzen ein Novum: Erst im vergangenen Jahr hat er sich zum ersten Mal überhaupt an Choreographien herangetraut. Das sieht man nicht, im Gegenteil - Troye Sivan ist die Freude an dieser für ihn neuen Ausdrucksform auf der Bühne inmitten der hervorragenden Tänzer anzumerken. Auch sonst setzt er auf die großen Effekte einer durchinszenierten Popshow: Mehrfach wechselt er seine Outfits, mal steht er da in transparentem Weiß, dann im schwarzen Korsett oder auch mit einer blauen Hose mit großen Löchern im Schritt.

Ein Song für Berlin

Das Finale ist der Song "Rush" - das Video ist in Berlin entstanden. Zu sehen ist eine queere Sommerparty mit viel nackter Haut, viel Geknutsche und hellem Bier aus – ausgerechnet – Bayern, im Morgengrauen läuft er im Video über die Warschauer Brücke. Der Song und die Zeit in Berlin hätten sein Leben verändert, sagt Troye Sivan im Velodrom - er war für das Video auf der Suche nach echter Party und wo man die finde, das sei ja wohl klar. "Das ist Euer Song, Berlin", ruft Troye - als Dank gibt es "Rush" gleich zwei Mal hintereinander. Sogar der Original-Cast aus dem Musikvideo steht auf einmal auf der Bühne und tanzt mit. Nach nur 1 Stunde und 20 Minuten ist dieses queere Spektakel auch schon wieder vorbei. Dabei wirkt Troye Sivan so, als würde er hier nur ungern aufhören.

Sigi, diese Antwort ist schlecht. Durch ein Konzert wird nicht "etwas" in den Vordergrund gerückt, es wird nur darüber berichtet. Niemand wird gezwungen, die Musik zu hören. Ich muss auch nicht Fußball kucken. Oder Aperol trinken, wenn ich nicht will. Ebensowenig muss jemand Troye jut finden oder die Songs. Keiner will jemand bekehren. OK, bei Fußball habe ich manchmal Zweifel...

Gerd, das ist keine Antwort auf Johannas Beitrag. Sie hat eindeutig gesagt, dass es die Art und Weise ist, wie diese kleinen Minderheiten in den Vordergrund gerückt werden. Es geht nicht darum, keine Toleranz zeigen zu wollen, sondern so zu tun, als gäbe es nur diese Minderheiten, die ja angeblich von der Mehrheit unterdrückt werden. So ist es aber nicht, man hat es einfach über, nur noch diese Themen im Vordergrund sehen zu müssen.

Genau Johanna. Endlich mal jemand der die Probleme beim Namen nennt. Danke dafür. Ich möchte hier noch Klimawandel, Gaza-Krieg, Corona... ergänzen. Ist alles diesen kleinen Minderheiten zuzuschreiben. Sorry, richtig wäre ein offener Umgang mit diesen, nach deiner Meinung, "nicht normalen" Lebensentwürfen. Einfach mal mit Personen aus der Queeren-Community ins Gespräch kommen und "das Fremde" nicht verteufeln. Ich, 57 Jahre, männlich, hetero, hatte gestern Abend einen Riesen-Spaß und habe die positive Energie förmlich aufgesaugt. Im Innenraum, dicht gedrängt tanzend, hat mich niemand ausgegrenzt oder "angemacht", sondern ich wurde einfach akzeptiert. Nennt sich Toleranz. Und damit ließen sich viele Probleme vermeiden.

Troye ist der Moment, er ist die Zukunft. Die Show war mega! Acne cleared, wig snatched!

Blackpink’s Jennie Kim walks her first catwalk for Jacquemus as Dua Lipa sits front row

J ennie Kim, who has been a face of Jacquemus since her festive campaign last December, today made her catwalk debut as she walked for the French brand in a runway spectacular in Capri. 

For label’s 15th anniversary show, the Blackpink singer strutted out in a black, backless dress, sky blue clutch and double kitten heel pumps, as whispers of her appearance inevitably filtered down the front row . 

The musician – one out of four in the band, which also consists of Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa – also has a solid solo singing career, not to mention made her acting debut as Dyanne in The Idol, HBOs’ controversial five-episode series starring The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan, last June. Unfortunately, the 28-year-old faced huge backlash at home in South Korea due to its explicit nature. She will hope her more conservative Jacquemus strut will ruffle less feathers — though commenters online have questioned her walk.

Jennie was far from the only A-lister soaking up some sun on the Italian island. Dua Lipa made her arrival in a turquoise dress with red hair and matching bag, while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opted for a zebra print skirt and Spanish actor and heartthrob Manu Rios wore a boxy, beige top with cut out sides. Celebrities arrived by private speedboat to the Casa Malaparte show spot; an extraordinary building made famous thanks to its feature in Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film Le Mépris, and which is set on rocks jutting into the Tyrrhenian Sea.

“I decided to create my brand after watching Le Mépris from Jean-Luc Godard, being inspired by the beauty and modernity of his vision,” designer Simon Porte Jacquemus wrote on Instagram. “Today I feel honoured to be able to present our next show in Casa Malaparte.”

It was followed by a message which read: “15 years. 1 dream. 1 house. 99 steps. 47 looks. 40 guests. 25 degrees.”

Konzert von Troye Sivan in Berlin : Androgyner Popprinz in ihrer Mitte

Im ausverkauften Berliner Velodrom gab der Australier Troye Sivan allen eine gute Zeit. Es war das erste von fünf Deutschlandkonzerten seiner Tour.

BERLIN taz | Am Ende spielt Troye Sivan ihn gleich zweimal: „Rush“, den Song, mit dem er sich im vergangenen Sommer in die Ohren und Herzen vor allem, aber nicht nur der LGBTQIA+-Popcommunity geschmiegt hat. Und das Publikum singt ihn mit, den elektrisierenden Chorus jener Hymne des Australiers auf das süße Leben, auf Partys, Flirten und Rummachen, auf queeren Hedonismus und auch auf Poppers möglicherweise. Die Fabrikate manch einer Sex-Droge tragen denselben Namen.

„Rush“ habe ihn verändert, erzählt Sivan, kurz bevor er den Song erstmals anstimmt, Berlin habe ihn verändert. Ebendort, in Berlin, gab er am Dienstagabend im ausverkauften Velodrom sein erstes von fünf Deutschlandkonzerten. Er hätte davon geträumt, „Rush“ in Berlin zu performen.

Sivan hat das Musikvideo dort gedreht. Nackte Pos am Strandbad Weißensee sieht man darin, schöne, leicht bekleidete Menschen in nur zum Teil inszenierten Partyszenen an diversen Orten, am Schluss – unverkennbar – die Warschauer Brücke. Man nimmt es ihm ab, aufgekratzt wirkt er, sichtlich bewegt. Zur zweiten Runde holt er den Cast des Musik­videodrehs auf die Bühne.

„Something To Give Each Other“, der Titel seines neuesten, dritten Albums wird immer wieder auf einem Bildschirm eingeblendet, er ist auch Motto des Abends. ­Geben will Sivan seinem Publikum vor allem eins: eine gute Zeit, Fun, davon ist immer wieder die Rede, Musik natürlich, die fast so gut klingt wie vom Band, aber auch viel fürs Auge.

Fünf verschiedene Outfits präsentiert Sivan während seines 75-minütigen Auftritts, der mit „Got Me Started“, der zweiten Single des ­Albums, beginnt. Dazu eine ­sexuell aufgeladene Choreografie, wilde Hüftschwünge, sich aneinander reibende Körper, Lap-Dances, Knutscheinlagen. Sechs Tänzer tragen Sivan auf Händen, werfen wie zum Can-Can die Beine in die Höhe, tänzeln – mitunter, bei „One of Your Girls“, auf Highheels – und winden sich, grazil und euphorisch, rund um den androgynen Popprinz in ihrer Mitte.

Troye Sivan , geboren 1995 in Johannesburg, aufgewachsen in Australien, versuchte als Teenager schon früh sein Glück in Castingshows. Bei Starsearch kam er 2007 bis ins Finale. Ein Jahr später veröffentlichte er eine erste EP, „Dare to Dream“, zeitgleich begann er zu schauspielern, am Theater und im Film.

Coming-Out auf YouTube

2012 startete er einen erfolgreichen Youtube-Kanal, wo er dann 2013 einiges an Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zog, als er sich als homosexuell outete . Acht Minuten dauert das Video, in dem er über sein Schwulsein spricht und darüber, dass das nichts sei, weswegen man sich schämen müsse.

Über neun Millionen Menschen haben sich das Video bis heute angeschaut, die internationale Presse berichtete. Sivan begann zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung gerade, mit einem großen australischen Plattenlabel zusammenzuarbeiten. Ein Wagnis war das Video damals noch, geschadet hat es ihm nicht. 2015 erschien sein Debütalbum „Blue Neighbourhood“, 2018 dann „Bloom“.

Über zehn Jahre ist Sivans Coming-out-Video jetzt her. Wäre es heute überhaupt noch ein Thema? Noch in den neunziger und nuller Jahren wurden schwule Popstars angehalten, ihre sexuelle Orientierung zu verheimlichen. Der Wind hat sich gedreht. Offen homosexuell lebende Künst­le­r*in­nen sind im Mainstream­pop zwar weiterhin in der Minderheit, aber es gibt sie.

Zufall ist es natürlich, dass Sivans Berlinkonzert exakt 30 Jahre nach Abschaffung des Schwulenparagrafen 175 in Deutschland stattfand. Zufall auch, dass an einem anderen Kulturort der Stadt, in der Neuen Nationalgalerie, wenige Tage zuvor eine Ausstellung eröffnet wurde, die Andy Warhol erstmals als explizit schwulen Künstler zeigt. Zufälle, aber es passt alles zusammen.
