Jazmin Williams

The past decade has been one incredible journey for BTS. The septet have sought out to do and achieve so much since day one, and lucky for ARMY , their 10+ year career is well documented. Whether you’re new in Boraland and curious to learn more or just looking for some nostalgic memories to relive, we’ve listed all the BTS documentaries and how you can watch every single one.

Burn The Stage: The Movie

Released in 2018, Burn The Stage: The Movie is the first movie from BTS, following the band behind the scenes of the BTS WINGS Tour as it uncovers the story of their rising success and international fame. Go back in time to 2017 to see the fresh-faced Bangtan Boys at the start of their world domination, blissfully unaware of what the future will hold for them. The nostalgia is real, and if you’re going to binge the documentaries, where better to begin than at the beginning?

Where to watch: Available on YouTube Premium

Bring The Soul: The Movie

Bring The Soul: The Movie takes place on a rooftop in Paris at the end of the Love Yourself World Tour in 2018 where the BTS members share a conversation, sharing stories of their experiences in new cities and performing to ARMY around the world. And, of course, what would a BTS documentary be without star-studded live performance clips from the tour?

Where to watch: Bring The Soul: The Movie is currently available on Netflix in some countries but not globally . Alternatively, it’s available on Weverse as a VOD

Bring The Soul: Docu-Series

The third in BTS documentaries is Bring The Soul: Docu-Series , which sees an up close and personal look at each of the members as they share their individual untold stories for the first time on camera for ARMY in a six-part series. The members get very candid as they share a more personal side, unveiling their fears, hopes, dreams, and concerns. We loved getting to know the members on a more in-depth level and learning about them as individuals.

Where to watch: Available on Weverse as a VOD

Break The Silence: The Docu-Series

2020 was a tough year, but BTS kept us occupied with tons of content, including another installment to the BTS documentaries. Break The Silence : The Docu-Series is a seven-episode series that follows the 351-day journey from the LOVE YOURSELF Tour to the LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF Tour . We get a close look at the memorable moments between BTS and ARMY as the members embark on their first stadium world tour. We also get more candid tales from the members, discussing their tight-knit relationships and what keeps their strong bond with each other both professionally and personally.

Break The Silence: The Movie PERSONA

Shortly after the docu-series, Break The Silence: The Movie PERSONA was released in cinemas. As the LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF tour comes to an end, Break The Silence: The Movie PERSONA reminisces on memories of the tour with stops in major cities all across the globe. We also get to see how each member separates themselves personally from their stage personas, giving us a look at the more vulnerable and emotional side of each of them.

j-hope IN THE BOX

As the first member to officially go solo amidst the BTS hiatus until 2025, j-hope was naturally the first member to drop his own solo documentary. j-hope IN THE BOX gives us a behind-the-scenes look leading up to his debut solo album, Jack In The Box that dropped in 2022, while also giving us a backstage pass to the production of his incredible headline performance at Lollapalooza .

Where to watch: Available on Disney+

SUGA: Road to D-DAY

Hot on the heels of his debut studio album, D-DAY , SUGA released his documentary, SUGA: Road to D-DAY . The documentary follows SUGA as he searches the world for inspiration for his upcoming record. We get to see a more intimate side of the rapper and producer as well as a closer look at how he works behind the studio door. We’re also treated to special live performances from tracks off of D-DAY .

Jimin’s Production Diary

Jimin’s Production Diary is a raw documentation of the production of Jimin ‘s debut solo album, FACE , which dropped in Spring 2023. The documentary covers the entire process from the early beginnings, Jimin’s continuous grind and need for perfection, right up to the album’s release and final thoughts. We get to see what Jimin is like on the production side of album making and what inspired different elements of the album.

BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star

BTS Monuments: Beyond The Stars is the latest Docu-Series that’s being released as part of BTS’s 10 year anniversary celebrations. The eight-episode series will reveal never-before-seen interviews and exclusive clips as we travel through the decade-long journey that brought us the BTS we know and love today. Starting from December 20th, two episodes will be released every Wednesday with key moments from over the years, including debut preparations, winning best new artist at the 2013 Melon Music Awards , the struggles faced during the Danger era, their American debut, and speaking at the UN.

We’ll also see some very personal moments such as their initial thoughts when first meeting one another, their initial contract renewal, the struggles of COVID’s isolation, as well as j-hope’s surprise birthday party and Jungkook’s high school graduation ceremony. This is said to be the most in-depth and revealing docu-series to date, and we can hardly wait!

Where to watch: two episodes will release every week on Disney+, starting December 20th

I was going to give this a silly review, but due to a lack of genuine reviews on letterboxd, I'll give this the serious review that it deserves. TLDR: Don't let subject matter of it being about a boyband turn you away; 'Burn the Stage' was a brilliantly executed, edited, and directed documentary and I think certain non-fans would enjoy watching it for it's music history/pop cultural relevancy.

Long version: Most of BTS's documentaries/series thus far have always been lighthearted and humorous, meant to give viewers laughs and cheap entertainment with challenge games, silly animations, and general antics from the members. Most of these docuseries are quite shallow in that BTS and their producers only ever show us a very...…

possibly my favorite docuseries from my favorite band and the one I always recommend to those who want to get to know them and their journey, and while it doesn't necessarily encompass all of their hardships and achievements it shows the utmost raw and possibly chaotic journey of each member, their challenges and insecurities, and it gives us a pretty fair and realistic look into the backstage struggles and logistic components that bring the magic that is every single show, we see the staff giving their all and the members race to achieve a seamless and complex show and provide their fans with the music that truly comes from the sincerity in their hearts, it's beautifully edited and produced, and we get to see different facets of these humans like you and me who are achieving out of this world things.

Get almost unlimited access to their lives with hours and hours of behind-the-scenes footage.

bts wings tour documentary

Last Updated on July 2, 2024 by BTS 101

BTS has always provided ARMY with an all-access backstage pass to their lives. From early videos posted on their blog, to documentary footage from all their concerts, to frequent Live sessions, there’s hundreds of hours of content to explore.

Here’s a rough guide to a few interesting behind-the-scenes shows and series you can dive into online.

Beyond the Story

Beyond the Story is a long, detailed book released in July 2023 that covers the history of BTS. Through personal interviews with the members, never-before-revealed details about their early days and their struggles and fears are told openly and honestly. It’s a must-read for all ARMY.

You can buy it pretty much everywhere, here’s the Amazon link for the US.

Written by BTS with journalist Kang Myeonseok; translated into English by Anton Hur, Slin Jung, and Clare Richards.

Concert Documentaries

Burn the Stage is both a series of episodes and a single documentary film that shows BTS on their first big international tour, the Wings tour in the fall of 2017; it aired on YouTube Red (paid content) in summer 2018 and you can still watch it there.

Bring the Soul is both a series of episodes and a single documentary film that shows BTS on the first half of their Love Yourself tour of spring/summer 2018, in the States, South America, and Europe. It is paid content on Weverse.

Break the Silence is both a series of episodes and a single documentary film that shows BTS on the second half of their Love Yourself/Speak Yourself tour of spring 2019, with dates throughout the world including Wembley Stadium in London. It is paid content on Weverse.

Bangtan Bombs

Bangtan Bombs are short backstage clips posted on the Bangtan TV YouTube channel. In the early days, these were literally made by BTS themselves; they’d film themselves backstage at various TV appearances, photo shoots, or at dance practice, and then post it online. Some of these early bombs are just a couple of minutes long and most of them show BTS being at peak charming and chaotic.

Many of the early bombs are not subtitled, but a dedicated team of translators at the YouTube channel Bangtan Subs has been working for years to translate the bombs and other BTS content. Their channel is indispensable for international fans and you should definitely subscribe. A great place to start is this epic playlist that starts way back in 2013 and queues up the subbed version of bombs in order for you.

For the last few years and up until today, bombs are filmed, edited, and released by BigHit staff, and are more polished and subtitled. But they are still often fun and funny peeks at the members when they are just goofing around. They also often will post single camera style recordings of their live performances which are often much easier and more fun to watch than the actual performances.

Bangtan Bombs usually come out at least a few times a month and it’s kind of a firehose of content so try to keep up! You can also dig into the archives on YouTube, there are hundreds of them to explore.

Live Series

First, a note about vLive: vLive was a platform for Kpop band / fan interaction developed by Naver, the biggest search engine in Korea, back in 2015. It was quite similar in functionality to Weverse, and eventually HYBE bought out vLive and merged the two platforms in 2022.

BTS used to “go live” on vLive exclusively; the ability to go live on Weverse wasn’t introduced until late 2022, just before the official merge.

All of their old lives were on vLive, but not all have been moved over to Weverse. Weverse’s organization of old lives is also terrible, and most of them are dated wrong, so it’s really hard to find anything on there, and to get a clear picture of what’s even available.

However, you can still find some great, legendary lives on Weverse if you have the patience to dig through their archives. Lives are not subtitled as they happen, but most are subtitled after the fact thanks to the efforts of dedicated ARMY; if you are poking around on Weverse and find one that is not subbed, check Bangtan Subs on YouTube for a subbed version.

Lives can cover any kind of topic and anything can happen – they might show the members just chatting one-on-one with the camera, celebrating their birthdays, playing games with other members, doing crafts, or cooking and eating. Often they will go live after a big event like an awards show to celebrate with their fans, or while on tour when they’re back in the hotel after a big performance.

There’s no schedule for livestreams – you never know when it will happen! If you have an account on Weverse, you can get text notifications when a live is starting. Remember that live content is not subtitled, but there are some very dedicated ARMY on Twitter who do their best to provide live translations, so have one eye on Weverse, and one on Twitter.

Back in the day, BTS had a few loosely-recurring series that they’d do live, including:

  • Release Parties – they host a live release party every time a new extended play or album is coming out; these are usually more than an hour long and feature games, clips, and song previews
  • First 100 Days since Debut special
  • First Christmas – Part 1 Part 2
  • One Year Anniversary (First Festa)
  • Eat Jin – This is a “mukbang” – a show about watching people eat – by Jin. He literally just eats stuff and talks about his food, sometimes alone, sometimes with guest stars from the rest of BTS. Some of these are over on Weverse too.
  • Hope on the Street – this was a series of early vLives (and some Twitter posts) in which j-hope would rehearse a dance number – or just wing it – and then take it to the streets. Fabulous index of these can be found in this HOTS Twitter thread by user @BangtanResource , as well as here in the official BTS Wiki
  • Hwagae Market – a short series of vLives from 2015 featuring j-hope and SUGA (“Sope”). The Hwagae market is a rural, open-air market on the border of their two hometown provinces, Jeolla and Gyeongsang, where people from both places gather and get along. Sope does a cute “door opening” motion with their hands when starting these lives and a “door closing” motion when ending them. There aren’t too many of these – in fact, the most famous one is probably the last one, where they announce the failure of the series due to lack of ideas and that Sope is breaking up!
  • G.C.F. – stands for Golden Closet Films, these are artistic backstage films and footage of the members made by Jungkook, who is interested in video production. These are on Weverse.

The BTS vLive Carrd Site is a fantastic website that has assembled the old vLives into groups by member and by theme – very helpful if you are looking for something in particular. As of late 2022, the links to the vLive website are still working, although the site is set to be dismantled (not sure if the Carrd site owner will update the links to point to Weverse instead). You can also find a full index of old lives with dates on the r/bangtan Reddit board .

There’s also this Tumblr which has them all indexed :

BTS Documentary Specials

Go bts , sometimes called bts go .

A show that was aired on MNet America, one episode from September 2014, featuring BTS antics in LA when they went there for KCon (a kPop expo) in July 2014 – literally their first time on American soil. This is where JK saying “international playboy” is from; it also features a surprise appearance by Eric Nam (then much more famous than BTS) in the closing credits, goofing around with RM.

A series released as a photo book plus DVD featuring BTS travelling to new locations. There are three “episodes” – you can possibly find the video portion of these online if you really dig.

  • BTS NOW 1 – Thailand, 2014, featuring their first trip and concert in Thailand
  • BTS NOW 2 – Europe and America, 2015 – in Sweden and the US
  • BTS NOW 3 – BTS In Chicago, Dreaming Days, 2016

The Rise of Bangtan

The Rise of Bangtan is a fan-made documentary series, originally released on YouTube in 2021. It’s built using directly sourced clips of the band, from interviews, Bangtan Bombs, and concert footage, along with interviews by Kpop experts and PD Bang himself. It’s the most complete tracing of the history of the band we’ve seen, plus an excellent capture of what it meant and means to be ARMY along the way.

Watch all episodes on YouTube here .

Summer and Winter Packages

Every year since 2014, BTS has released an annual “package.” This is primarily a photo book and other goodies like photocards, posters, and stickers, but since 2015 it has also included a DVD of the photo shoot, which usually takes place in an exotic location and involves some fun on the side.

Usually the package video is only available by purchasing the set, but you can often find them online (illegally!) if you dig around.

In 2020, they switched from doing a summer package to doing a winter package.

Season’s Greetings DVD Packages

Since December 2014, BTS has released a Season’s Greetings DVD every December featuring a new photo shoot and interview footage. These packages come with a photo book and often other merch like stand up photo cards, posters, pencil cases, and more. (Each package is named for the following year – so the first package, released December 2014, is called “Season’s Greetings 2015”). You can sometimes find the video portion of these packages online if you dig around.

Memories Of DVD Packages

They also release a Memories Of video every year, usually in spring sometime, starting in 2015 with “Memories of 2014.” These are usually hours long and often contain footage of entire concerts that aren’t available anywhere else, plus tons of making-of videos for their tours and television appearances. Plus of course, it comes with some photos and photo cards. Worth tracking down if you can find them!

Each Memories usually has one big event/concert on the first couple of DVDs. Here’s a list of the big things on each. Find more info on each of these concerts in our concerts unit .

Special Photo Books

Each year, D’Icon releases photo books for several of the top Kpop groups. These are really big magazine-style books with hundreds of pages of top-quality photos. They come with a ton of photocards too. They aren’t cheap, but they sure are pretty.

D’Icon also released a special set of 7 books, one for each member, to celebrate Dispatch’s 10th anniversary in 2022, and they are gorgeous.

2022 Photo Folios

As BTS ventured into solo work in 2022, BigHit announced a Photo Folio series, where each member would create some sort of visual artistic project. The end result for each was a photo book combined with photo cards and other merch that was sold as a package; the 7 books together make a single “&” symbol on their spines.

2017 summer package korea? not in Philippines? correct me if I am wrong. thanks.. I purple you!!

I don’t own that one, actually, so I haven’t seen it, but online research does seem to say it was filmed in the Philippines in early May, 2017, just before their Wings tour appearances there in Manila. Corrected! You can see a lot of detail about exactly where they stayed in this Tumblr post – https://behind-the-screen-of-bangtan.tumblr.com/post/187794137610/2017-summer-package-in-the-philippines

Bts jimin’s visit with suga on his solo tour brought back one “wings” tour memory.

bts wings tour documentary

In 2023, BTS ‘s Suga embarked on a 28-show solo world tour, SUGA |   Agust D D – DAY, visiting 10 cities throughout the United States and Asia.

unnamed (13)

The creation of Suga’s solo album D-DAY, part of his Agust D trilogy ,  was captured through his Disney+ documentary, Suga: Road to D-Day,  and behind-the-scenes moments from the tour were heavily documented as well.

Recently, more behind-the-scenes footage was released in a new BTS Episode , showing more of Suga’s journey through the U.S. on his tour.

maxresdefault (74)

The new BTS Episode captured Jimin ‘s backstage visit with Suga when the younger BTS member attended Suga’s Newark, New Jersey, show at Prudential Center

As he went to meet Suga, the two were quickly reminded of their 2017 Wings world tour and the unforgettable backstage moment that happened when they were at Prudential Center six years prior.

Suga reminded Jimin that one of the last times they were at the venue, fellow members Jin and V had a heated argument after disagreeing about their positioning and timing during one song’s choreography.

Emotions ran high just moments before the group was set to take the stage, leading RM to attempt to diffuse the situation by assuring they would discuss it after the concert. The argument is well-known among fans as it was captured in BTS’s documentary, Burn The Stage .

After Suga pointed out their location, Jimin revealed he remembered the argument and recalled Jin and V “ shouting at ” each other and arguing up until the five minutes before they were due on stage.

Suga and Jimin’s most recent visit to the venue was less chaotic, as the two focused on supporting each other backstage, with Suga again playfully trying to convince Jimin to join him on stage.

They’ve also added two new events with K-pop groups Ateez and Zerobaseone.

The Miz reacts to John Cena's comments about him, 'selfishly' wants to be part of his retirement tour

Cena recently made a bold proclamation about the miz.

The Miz vs John Cena WWE Raw pro wrestling news today july 14 2024

Even The Miz was surprised to learn that a documentary about him was titled "Biography: WWE Legends." Some might scoff at giving the reality star turned WWE superstar such a prestigious label, but John Cena would be the first to justify the claim.

"He is the most, not one of the most, the most underrated WWE Superstar in the history of the business," Cena said of The Miz in a trailer for A&E's "Biography: WWE Legends" documentary premiering Sunday.

The Miz has collected 21 title reigns during his consecutive 20-year run with WWE, notably winning the WWE championship twice. A lesser-known fact is that Miz is WWE's first two-time Grand Slam champion, a feat only since achieved by Seth Rollins.  A modern Grand Slam champion must acquire a world title, a tag team title, and both the intercontinental and United States titles. The Miz first accomplished the feat in 2010 joining the likes of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. He completed the cycle a second time in 2021 by beating Drew McIntyre to become WWE champion.

These accomplishments lend credibility to Cena's argument especially when some consider The Miz primarily a midcard talent.

"The fact that he made time for my documentary means the world to me because of how much time he's literally spent with me teaching me how to become a top-caliber superstar," Miz told CBS Sports. "I hope I have done his teachings justice and that comment right there made me feel like I have and that means the world to me."

The Miz and Cena were primary rivals in the early 2010s, competing against each other in multiple pay-per-view matches. Miz, once a locker room black sheep, credits Cena for shaping him into one of WWE's most enduring acts.

"I don't think anyone understands how much John Cena has taught me in a WWE ring. Not only inside but outside the ring as well. He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world... He's in everything," Miz said. "That shows when Cena sets his mind on something, he goes full force and wants to do it all."

The highlight of Miz's career is arguably his WrestleMania 27 main event match against Cena. The Miz defeated him to retain the WWE championship with assistance from The Rock. It was a moment made sweeter and more surreal by the company Miz had in attendance.

"I'm main eventing WrestleMania with John Cena and watching his entrance and looking over and seeing my best friends from high school who were in my living room watching The Rock and [Steve] Austin fight for the title I'm holding," Miz said. "I'm watching John Cena run into the ring and I'm looking at my boys going, 'We did it.'"

Cena surprised fans at WWE Money in the Bank on July 6 to announce his retirement tour . Cena will appear on the debut of WWE on Netflix in January along with the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41. Every superstar will likely be gunning for a chance to mix it up with Cena one last time. The Miz among them.

Check out the full interview with The Miz below.

"I am putting my name in the hat!" Miz said. "I've been in the ring a lot with John Cena and selfishly I'd want more because that's how much fun it is getting into the ring with John Cena.

"But I also want our new talent to experience John Cena. Because as much as I was taught by John and I can teach what John taught me, it's always better when you have that guy there to teach you. I would want our younger talent to feel that energy."

The Miz has other bucket list goals between now and WrestleMania 41 in April. The Miz isn't currently booked for SummerSlam on Aug. 3 but is keen to appear at his childhood venue Cleveland Browns Stadium. Winning the Royal Rumble is another priority objective for a superstar who's accomplished nearly everything but sees no end in sight for his career.

“Julia Alvarez: A Life Reimagined” includes eatures extensive interviews with Alvarez, her family and her literary contemporaries. The documentary is produced and directed by Adriana Bosch (“Latino Americans,” “Latin Music USA”).

“In our film, Dominican poet Elizabeth Acevedo introduces Julia by say that ‘Julia belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Women Latino writers, along with Isabel Allende and Sandra Cisneros,'” Bosch said. “She was among the pioneers in creating a new literature that expanded the meaning of the ‘American Mainstream’ and reminds us of the famous line by Langston Hughes – I too sing America.”

Per the logline, the doc (filmed both in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic) “opens a window into her extraordinary journey from an idyllic, privileged childhood in the Dominican Republic to a life of exile in New York City to a brilliant literary career that shows no sign of slowing down.”

“We’re delighted to partner with American Masters to tell the story of one of the most influential Latina writers of our time,” said Sandie Viquez Pedlow, LPB executive director and executive producer of “Voces.” “Alvarez’s poetry and novels offer a unique perspective on the melding of her two cultures — American and Dominican — and are among the finest works about the American immigrant experience.”
