Boarding Pass vs e-ticket

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the Boarding Pass and the e-ticket on P&O?  I haven’t got the e-ticket but I have downloaded the Boarding Pass. Do I still need the e-ticket?

I am sure you do. I managed to download and print both today. We go in 14 days. Yesterday I could only download the boarding pass.

Can I just ask if you did anything to be able to print them?  I go a week today and have only managed to print my boarding pass - the e-tickets and luggage labels are still greyed out!

From my recollection I think they are available to print off when you have completed the health questionnaire 3 days before travel.

That might work but zap99 is two weeks away and has managed to print them - that's why I asked the question.  I have been struggling with it for a couple of weeks but the TA has told me they will email them to me if I can't do it by the weekend!

I am having loads of problems with printing the e ticket and luggage labels.  Going on 18th. I rang PO who told me it was because my agent hadn’t paid them!!! I was naturally really upset and contacted my agent, who confirmed they had paid PO in May.  They also contacted PO, who tried to say it was because we had only just booked the cruise!  Both myself and the agent have emails from PO confirming the booking dated May!  I have now had an email from PO saying I cannot download e-ticket and luggage labels because of technical problems.  So lots of stories from PO trying to cover up their incompetence!  I have sent them a letter of complaint as I was so upset and stressed out when they said they hadn’t been paid.  My agent is telling me the Boarding Pass is all I need, but I am not sure having never seen the e-ticket!  Hence my question is there a difference.

I was able to print the boarding cards a couple of days ago. Yesterday I updated all the personal details, emergency contacts and credit card details. The country if residence etc was not complete and passport numbers were wrong. I corrected all that, but the e ticket box was still grey. When I logged on this morning, they were blue and printed fine, as was the boarding cards box. I suggest you check personal details. I downloaded the pictures after I printed the e tickets. Hope that helps.

Thank you zap99, I've been in again for the umpteenth time and tried changing stuff and checking it's all correct - it all seems to be!!  I'll have to admit defeat and let the TA email it to me tomorrow.

I just worry I'm missing something really important and they'll turn me away from the terminal next week  😲

We turned up at the terminal without a boarding pass as we didn't realise we needed one. Most people didn't have on and it wasn't a preblem because they can do it there for you

I called up customer services as I didn't think I'd have a printer available to print... they said exactly what Cathygh said... just turn up... they can be printed at check-in 🙂  

I too had the problem with P&O claiming my agent hadn't paid them.  My agent is a personal friend so spent many hours getting to the bottom of it.  Basically transpired P&O had the money and thousands of pounds of other peoples' too, but the accounts department was understaffed and not allocating it to the individual bookings until 4 days before departure.

Just to clarify, the boarding pass is a barcode. You show this at check in. Then you show it to get onto the ship instead of your cruise card. Your cruise card will be in the mailbox at your cabin - or was it on the desk? Sorry can't remember.

I was having trouble trying to print off and my TA said that instead of using a phone or tablet to use a big computer.

Husband uses one for work so we tried it on that and they printed off straight away.

Having said that, I printed off my boarding pass the other day but now the check in time has changed so I tried to print it off again but it printed  e tickets. I can’t for the life of me work out where it says “print boarding pass”.

You don't need to reprint the boarding pass, and if it turns out you do they can do it for you at check in.

The websites I've found that seem reputable are:

http://www.trainsrussia.com/en/travels/ (With this company, the tickets can be sent to you ($90), or you can pick them up in the Moscow office)

http://www.waytorussia.net/Services/TrainTickets.html (this company says they send you an e-ticket which you then take to the train station to exchange for your train ticket)

Has anyone used either of these companies, or another company to buy Russian train tickets?

Thank you for the pricing help - I know I cannot buy the tickets today, but I was very confused trying to figure out the official website with Google Translate by my side. Now I know it will be worth it to wait until the 45 days and then figure out that official website to buy at the much better price!

I would buy them in Russia. Most hotels can get them for you, or you can go to an office, or even the train station it's self. It's really not that hard to do. Times are in numbers, and the city names sound the same in Russian or English. The main train stations have special English only booths. Just ask. The English only booth at the Kazinski station is located on the 2nd floor. Your hotel could have them delivered to the front desk. Why risk using you charge card (over the net, in Russia), for something you can get so easy when you are there? AIM.

Just be careful as one native poster has pointed out...tickets can get sparse for certain days at certain times of the year, and if you have a specific date, time and class of service, you might get limited...

That's exactly what I'm saying. Saturday 13:00 to StP could be busy - but if you do not want no risk your card to some extend (which I found strange - never got a problem with a reasonable card use in Russia, the only one case of misuse happened to me in Germany :) you can at least follow the ticket sales, ans see, how much seats are still free for your desired trip.
