5000 LY for Palin, Destination Recommendations
- Thread starter 60mm
- Start date Dec 5, 2018
Any recommendations on destinations? I'm not much of an explorer myself, but might as well head somewhere nice lookin' while I'm at it right? If I can get tipped off to somewhere decent, I won't fly aimlessly until I tip over 5000. o7
Travel to Colonia to open engineers there?.. With some passenger missions?.. Or maybe boom data delivery there?.. If I remeber correctly, I saw some several MCr missions with 20KLy travels in some tourism systems.
Factabulous
Jellyfish Nebula. It's 70 light years across and about 5,000 light years from Sol. Nearby is the star Eta Geminorum
Limoncello Lizard
Aimlessly is best. Head in a completely random direction and you might discover some brand new systems of your own. If you go where everyone else goes, someone else has always got there before you.
Go thataway. Seriously, just pick a spot on the map that you think may be interesting, and go.
Bubble Nebula?
Rat Catcher
Cats paw nebula?
5,000Ly isn't a big deal really. It'll take you about an hour (if that) to travel 1000Ly to get to the Guardian sites. How about paying them a visit to unlock some stuff and then just keep on going in that direction after you're done?
Bob Lighthouse
The Trifid Nebula, towards the core, is about the right distance and it's pretty cool looking out there. A couple of weeks ago I went towards the rim and this https://canonn.science/codex/sagan-class-tourist-ship-tel-121/ on my alt account, to unlock Palin, but that was more like 6k.

Head towards Maia and keep on going I did that on a 2nd account and got plenty of new discoveries, then head back to Maia offsetting the route by a few hundred LY then sell the data to Palin it'll get you to level 3 or so, additionally the crashed Conda with the probe parts is around that area as well.
I picked up a few scientists who wanted to see the Cat's Eye black holes. Was a bit over 5k ly out. Just check the local passenger lounge until you find something interesting. Gives your journey some purpose and it's a nice bump on top of the exploration data.
I just did my 5000 light year mission for Palin and found an Earthlike world fairly close to the bubble: NGC 3532 SECTOR HH-V D2-7 2. I was sooooooooo scared that someone would would claim it before I returned. Good luck!

Slange Lands
If you find yourself going space mad, try doing your taxes at the same time. Then have something comforting to drink. Repeat as necessary. o7

Forget the destination, this goal is about getting 5000 LY away from your point of in-game origin and that is all! There are no conveniently placed destinations for you to visit that will fulfill that requirement. The best plan is to pick a RANDOM direction and simply fly a fairly straight line for about 6000 (Yup!) LY.
I need to travel 5000 LY for an engineer unlock where should I go? to Jellyfish Sector FB-X c1-5, 5,051.11 Ly away from Matet-Coelho and 4,303.97 ly away from Shenve. That's how I got my invitations from Prof. and Chloe but any 5k Ly will do.
For an actual sight to see, I'd say go for the Zurara but that's about 10,000 LY. Or you could take the Colonia Highway, get to Amundsen Terminal or Eagle's Landing, whichever meets the 5000 LY requirement, and you can actually land at the stops and sell data / rest / save your ship.
#1. Palin, the old goat, wants me to travel 5000 ly before we can talk. I've a friend who did this and just took off into the inky blackness of space. He even discovered 34 bodies, in the bubble.
Head towards the outer rim, the opposite direction to Sag A, towards the monkey head nebula. Some great views of the galaxy out that way if you go high or low enough. There's also some neutron stars dotted about which you can chain jump to cover some good distance. Just don't jump in to a dead end. Lol.
Grab your best exploration ship, and plan a route 5,000 LY away from your starting system. At the very least, honk every system, but some scans with a Detailed Surface Scanner will also help down the line.
If you have an ASP Explorer with 34 LY jump range, it's gonna take you about 5 hours for a return trip. I usually do about 2k LY in 1 hour in my ASP. If you have a 40 LY Anaconda you gonna be faster.
Don't worry about destinations, this is not a sightseeing trip. Just pick a random direction, plot a course that is a little bit over 5000 LY (I suggest 6000) and GO. You will receive the invitation from Professor Palin when you have achieved the 5000 LY goal.
This is my first exploration video and my first actual exploration trip. So tips are always welcome! This is going to be a series where I go to the Jellyfish nebula. And Try to discover multiple...
Fly a couple of hundreds LY up/down of the galaxy plain, you'll find some unexplored systems along the way. that could very potencially hold earth-likes and water worlds, neutron stars, black holes etc etc that can net you some cash along the way =)
