Adidas Tour 360 XT SL 2.0 Golf Shoes

The Tour 360 golf shoe from adidas is one of the brand's most iconic silhouettes. The XT SL 2.0 is the fully waterproof, spikeless variant of the Tour 360 brand, offering golfers spikeless comfort and full protection from the elements out on course. 

The chassis of the shoe is a shape and style we think most people will be familiar with, with its profile on the feet of Tour players like Dustin Johnson making this a very desirable looking shoe. You can immediately feel how well made this shoe is out of the box too. The premium full-grain leather upper is incredibly soft and fully waterproof, making for a comfortable fit on your feet with the peace of mind that they'll stay dry no matter the conditions.

Of course, one of the best spiked golf shoes will give you the best grip in wet conditions, but the Tour 360 XT SL 2.0 did a great job in a variety of conditions. We were sure to try it out in dry, damp and wet conditions and are pleased to report a comfortable amount of grip in all conditions. The outsole is made from TPU and the X shapes throughout are designed to give solid grip with the low-profile feel of a spikeless shoe. For our money, only the FootJoy Pro SL has a better spikeless outsole. 

The standout feature of this shoe however is its cushioning and comfort when out walking the course. The full length Boost midsole is one of the best midsoles in any golf shoe we've tested this year and the Torsion bar means this shoe is solid throughout the swing too.

Q: What is the main feature I should look for when buying a spikeless shoe?

Having a hard time finding the New Balance shoe in the test with the BOA. The New Balance website doesn’t show one and I can’t find on on google. Anyone know anything about these? Future release date?

Overall a very good synopsis of of whats available and the key attributes of each shoe . I will repeat the comment I made on your Best Spiked Shoe article- one of the key attributes for comfort is choosing a shoe that utilized a last that most closely matches your foot. Each manufacturer utilizes their own lasts, and hence each fits an individual’s foot differently. I know that Adidas fits me best because of their heel cup design. That heal cup might be too narrow/tight for others. I believe many of the previous comments regarding fit of a particular shoe brand are in response to the specic lasts used by that manufaturer. Net/net-just like clubs, get properly fit. .I also agree with one of the previous posters that durability should be a criteria in your future evaluations.

Recently purchased a pair of the Nike Air Max 270G. A bit disappointed to see them not on the list. They are insanely comfortable and have excellent reviews as far as waterproofing goes.

I bought two pair of the Inesis Waterproof last season which are still going strong. They are fantastic shoes. Best traction and stability I’ve ever had in a spikeless shoe. Def not for those who must have flashy feet, but not nearly as dowdy as the Sketchers in previous years. Inesis FTW.

Comfort is one thing when you try them on in the store and take a few steps & it’ an entirely different thing when you walk 18/36 holes in them over unlevel terrain…..That’s one reason I have not bought Addidas in years.

The other factor that I would love more information on, recognizing the difficulty in acquiring that data, is DURABILITY.. Walkers need shoes that will last over time & not fall apart after a few rounds. Any data on that would be appreciated before popping $150.00 on a pair of shoes that will be worthless next month

How in the world was the Adidas CodeChaos not make the list? I’ve played them all winter, they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve ever worn and my feet have never gotten wet..

I agree, been wearing the boot version of them in extreme wet and mud this winter and they’ve been great..

Can’t seem to find the New Balance Links BOA shoes anywhere. Are they yet to be released?

I like the look of the textile shoes and they are probably super comfortable, but I’m worried about waterproofness (lots of heavy dew in the mornings when I play) and how difficult they might be to keep clean. What are other people’s experience with them?

I would love to buy Adidas shoes but have never found any that are wide enough for me.

Nothing beats TRUE for style, comfort and stability. I have 4 pairs: Knit I, Knit II, OG Masters edition, and Lux Knit. I am asked about these evertime I play because they are amazing looking. Nearly all the shoes you reviewed look like gym shoes and would never fill the bill for dining room or office. Furthermore— I sometimes shop for shoes off course at Dick’s, Worldwide Golf, and PGA Superstore and have never even seen the Inesis shoes you are so enamored with…. a good review would have included TRUE which would have blown the others away!!

Fully agree! I own 3 pair of True’s last offering of spiked shoes(swear they are still the best yet)but also own the former Outsider and 2 pairs of The Major. Additionally an OG as well. They consistently over the last 2-3 years have provide some of the best spike-less offerings! How they weren’t included is truly an oversight on MGS part!

Why would you wear your golf shoes to the dining room or the office? Even in my poorest days right out of college I owned more than one pair of shoes.

Couldn’t disagree more…I bought two pair of True spikeless golf shoes a few years ago, and they did not have enough metatarsal arch support in either pair. After an hour or two, my feet hurt like hell. I’ve nevwer hafd that problem with any other golf shoe.

If you need “metatarsal arch support”, maybe you should rethink the shoes you are wearing and the issues you already have in your feet. True’s originals are intended to respect the natural biology of our feet – large space for the toes, no drop between heel and toe etc. If you don’t feel more stable with your feet actually “planted” on the ground, and need suport below them, then your feet lost the optimal structure they once had..

TRUE lost their way a few years ago. Rubber nubs were coming off, rips, etc. I quit buying that brand and now stick with Skechers.

Not sure I get the True love. Bought two pair about two years ago – really didn’t like them. Very uncomfortable with poor traction. Waste of money for me.

As for finding a pair of Inesis, you see, there’s this thing called Google that can help you find damn near anything…

Completely agree on True shoes.. I have (had) a pair that were uncomfortable and gave no real support. Wore them for about 10 rounds and threw them away. I’ll never buy another pair.

Great review, I don’t think I would have ever tried the Adidas shoes the past couple of years if not for the fact that they consistently do well in your testing. As with anything in golf, each person needs to find what works for them through testing/fitting etc.

My only complaint with some of the Adidas shoes is they are usually pretty ugly.

I clicked on the link for the winning Adidas shoe and found many reviews that listed it as a 1-star, because it was so uncomfortable, especially in the heel, which has a rigid plastic piece in it. Consequently, I am wondering how it ended up ranking #1 in comfort, when – even on Adidas own site – it has many low ratings for comfort.

When I tested them, they were very comfortable with a compact overall feel. The padding was in the right places with good arch support. There were no complaints on this end.

It’s called a heel counter and it is there to provide stability to the ankle to prevent increase moments on inversion or eversion of the sub talar joint. Any quality running shoe has one

Shoes are such a unique purchase for me and probably other folks too in that everything has to fit just right. This is a good article and may give me some ideas of shoes to try if I were to buy spikeless shoes (which I wouldn’t). I guess I still don’t understand the concept of golf shoes that double as “go hang out with my friend shoes”. I do own more than one pair of shoes, And if a buddy showed up wearing golf shoes, he’d definitely get a WTF look.

I actually dont like, cant tolerate, the feel of spikes when walking. I have been wearing True’s for a long time. Stopped and picked back up when they got their shit together with a pair of ecco’s. Now though i feel like i need better structure in my golf shoe. Will be shopping this coming weekend to see if something better for my foot is out there. Hoping to solve a little heel plantar fasciitis. Adidas rarely fit , but i will be trying them out. Any other suggestions not on the list?

True Linkswear are the best golf shoes I’ve ever owned. Wide toe boxes, super comfortable, waterproof, and stylish.

Which are your favorite ones? I had some a few years ago but then they stopped selling at retail and went to online only. Haven’t tried any since then.

Nice amount of research on these spike less shoes, but come on man, why have golf shoes if they are not waterproof? How comfortable is it to have wet feet?

Just because some shoes aren’t labeled as “waterproof” doesn’t mean that shoes with textile upper can’t do a great job at repelling the water. We have tested them and there are a lot that hold up well to consistent rain.

I would 2nd the comments on the MG4+. It is the most comfortable shoe much less golf shoe I have ever worn.

I love what you do, which is why I contribute what I contribute, but I must say so long as True Linkswear is not included in the testing, it feels irrelevant. They are the category leader among sneaker heads and as someone who exhausts most of his disposable income on golf shoes and equipment, I’ve found them to be heads and shoulders above anyone else.

Really appreciate the work you do, but I will echo the refrain from others on this test. I need an extra-wide. set of shoes Last year, you had a New Balance shoe that worked. How about having the best of the extra-wides each year for those of us with fat feet? And if you need a couple of guys to work with Harry on the project, since he probably doesn’t have big feet, I’ll volunteer and I’m sure others will as well.

We label in the feature section which shoes come in extra wide. This will help you narrow it down and choose which one performed well in testing

In my world (size 14 Wide), I am almost always stuck with buying what is available and usually I have to pick a based on color I like (wrong style or model) or a style I like (but color I would rather not have). If I wore one size smaller- MANY more options open up. :(

The biggest complaint I have with golf shoes is the difficulty I have in getting a wide size.

Go Ecco, I’m in the same boat needing a wide fit and have found biom hybrid and biom cool pro a really wide comfy fit….appreciate they are costly but to me worth it!

Yet again, no True Linkswear shoes in this test. Why?

I love the evaluations, you provide information that is relevant and easy to understand. However,er as someone who spent some time in clothing retail, I would be cautions about giving out “comfort” scores, as these are very individualized and subjective. I love spikeless shoes and have two pair that are both in your rankings. One of the shoes, a very high ranking overall and one that you gave a very high comfort ranking to, are almost unwearable for me due to the way they fit my foot. My favorite pair, has a very low comfort ranking on your scale, yet it’s probably my most comfortable shoe. If I switch those comfort scores, based on my preference, then my FootJoy shoe, that you had well down in the overall rankings would be a top 3 shoe.

I am not a spikeless shoe golfer, but out of desperation I purchased the adidas S2G in the lace up and BOA versions. I was able to put my insoles in the golf shoes. Very comfortable shoes, both of them. Thought the traction was good. Good looking shoes, already had multiple comments on how good they look. I am concerned about dirt on the shoe material ( bought a navy and grey) so I sprayed booth pairs with scotch guard. I think they will work for me. Thanks for the shoe review.

The GFore MG4+ have been incredible for me since early fall. They are incredibly comfortable when walking 18, but their greatest attribute is their resistance to the elements and ability to clean. A wet rag and a quick scrub has muddy shoes looking brand new. Couldn’t recommend them enough.

This is coming from the most penny-pinching golfer in America.

Introduction

Masun Denison, Global Director of Golf Footwear for adidas, may be the most authentic and enthusiastic spokesperson Matt or I met at the 2019 PGA Show.  His depth of knowledge about shoe design and players’ needs and his unbridled passion for the game were infectious.  Adidas had a huge variety of new shoe offerings on display, but the Tour360 XT-SL seemed to really have Masun excited.

Looking down at the adidas Golf Tour360 XT-SL, the shoes look very similar to the Tour 360 Boost 2.0 I reviewed last year.  The clean, rounded toe has a classic look and there’s no mistaking adidas’ iconic three stripes.  The side view blends the look of classic uppers and exposed Boost foam to create a sleek, modern golf shoe .

Flip the shoe over and the sole design makes a traction statement, despite being spikeless.  The multitude of X’s along with depth of tread gave me grip confidence before my first swing.  The Tour360 XT-SL comes in four colorways – three variations on white, plus black.

Right out of the box the Tour360 XT-SL had four noteworthy aspects: wiggle room in the toe box, secure fit midfoot, nice arch support and a slightly raised heel .  Walking in the shoes, three more features came to mind:  wide stable base, flex at the balls of the feet, and responsive cushioning .  Boost gave my step a noticeable bounce.

Inside the shoe, the sockliner is smooth and comfortable .  I like the leather heel lining and cushioning around the ankle , but like most adidas shoes I’ve owned over the years, there’s a bit of play around my heels – easily remedied by sock selection.  Overall sizing was spot on.  I recommend a break-in session at the range or playing just a few holes the first wearing.

Performance

The wide base and slight forward tilt of the adidas Tour360 XT-XL make my stance feel solid and grounded .  The 360Wrap (the striped saddle area) and the Torsion X stability bar (the big dark X you can see in the outsole) seem to harness and then transfer energy in the swing.

The X-Traction lugs provided grip in every ground condition I encountered.  Something my eyes didn’t pick up on initially was the varied heights of the lugs, which certainly helps maintain traction during foot movements on uneven terrain.

I can see why Masun was stoked about the Tour360 XT-SL.  Recognizing that golfers are trending towards spikeless golf shoes, adidas has done a marvelous job providing comfort while maintaining performance.  Personally, I like the convenience of putting on my golf shoes and driving to the course.  The mixed look of a traditional golf shoe and modern materials is well executed, making the Tour360 XT-SL appealing to golfers young and old seasoned.

The only issue with the “new” 360’s is the traction(or lack of) … in Orlando it may be a breeze, but when you play courses like Sequoyah National Golf Club or any of the “mountain style” golf courses (especially in the morning dew”) they don’t due much to hold on – most “seasoned players” leave them in their trunk and use their 2 year old spikes.

So what is “spot on” sizing? I’ve always found Adidas sizing to be all over the place. I can always wear an 11 in FootJoy or Puma and 11.5 in Nike, but with Adidas I’ve gone from 10.5 to 12.5 in different models.

My ‘stock’ size is 9.5 and I most often test in that size just for the comparison you talk about. So for these shoes, spot on was 9.5.
