Welcome to  VIVA Voyage commissioned in 2005, a luxury vessel.  You will j ourney through the heart of Europe as you  travel along several of the continent’s most important waterways. VIVA Voyage  has everything a traveler could ask for: castles and monasteries, vineyards and villages, cathedrals and a wealth of epicurean delights to be savored at every bend. On our scenic-packed journeys, you’ll see and experience it all while enjoying all-inclusive 5-star service on our modern fleet designed to put the best of Europe at your fingertips.  Start off with the cruise of your dreams along one of Europe’s fabled rivers.

On the Diamond Deck, as well as on the Rubin Deck, there are 19 m² Junior Suites, which have a French balcony. The main part of the cabins is made up of 2-bed cabins of 15 m². These have French balconies on the Diamond and Rubin Decks and non-opening windows on the Emerald Deck. All cabins are perfectly equipped with a flat-screen TV, including a minibar, beauty products from RITUALS®, a hairdryer, a safe, air conditioning, a shower, and a toilet.

Dining on the VIVA Voyage  is a true pleasure. Seated at tables for lunch and dinner, you will dine on a multi-course gourmet menu.  Freshly prepared dishes made with local ingredients are graciously served along with a curated selection of regional wines. Breakfasts on the VIVA Voyage  are presented service à la française , with a bounty of unique and tasty options that will have you heading back to the buffet ‘just one more time.’ As part of our all-inclusive concept, selected alcoholic drinks and high-quality, non-alcoholic drinks (mineral water, soft drinks, juices, various coffee specialties, tea, and cocoa) and snacks are available to enjoy all day.  

As you’d expect from any 5-star hotel, each cabin on the VIVA Voyage  delivers passengers a well-appointed retreat to call home. Kreuzfahrt auf der Rhône

Wir sind an Bord der Viva Voyage von Lyon aus zu einer 8-tägigen Kreuzfahrt aufgebrochen und haben wundervolle Städte in Frankreich besucht, die reich an Geschichte und schönen Landschaften sind. Das Ein- und Ausschiffen verlief reibungslos, und innerhalb kürzester Zeit waren wir an Bord und wurden vom Bordpersonal begrüßt, das sich sofort als kompetent und freundlich erwies. Das Schiff, obwohl es schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel hatte, war gut gepflegt und schön eingerichtet. Unser Kabinenblick auf die Landschaft und den Fluss war herrlich, und die Kabine selbst war sehr komfortabel. Das Essen im Hauptrestaurant und im Bistro war wirklich köstlich. An Bord gibt es auch einen kleinen Pool, in dem Sie sich während der Fahrt entspannen können, so wie ich es getan habe! Die genannten Ziele waren wunderschön, außerdem haben wir den kostenlosen Fahrradverleih genutzt, um eine Fahrt zu unternehmen!

VIVA Cruises releases 2025 programme, featuring the Douro for the first time and new themed cruises

European river cruise specialist, VIVA Cruises, has already launched its 2025 brochure, full of exciting news. Next year’s programme will feature 64 itineraries along Europe’s most popular rivers; new ports of calls; and the launch of brand new Douro cruises on board new built ship, PORTO MIRANTE. All 2025 itineraries can be already booked online.

With over 60 itineraries to choose from, VIVA Cruises is once again expending its offering in 2025. Andrea Kruse, CEO of VIVA Cruises, says: “We recorded increased demand last year, particularly from international markets. We want to meet this demand in the coming year with new departure and landing ports, new routes and new content.”

New cruises on the Douro and new ports of call in the Netherlands and France

Next year, PORTO MIRANTE will open up a new cruising era for VIVA Cruises. The brand new Douro ship, which will be christened in May this year, will sail on the sought-after Portuguese river from May 2025. The new built ship will then offer trips to and from Porto, with overnight stays in the beautiful coastal city.

VIVA Cruises has also added the below new ports of call to the 2025 programme: Lelystad, Middelburg and Bruinisse in the Netherlands; the town of Braubach in Germany; and Leverinho, Regua, Vega Terron and Pinhão in Portugal, in addition to Porto, for the new Douro itineraries.

New routes in popular itineraries

Following the increased demand for short trips – particularly for the first quarter of the year, when other cruise lines are still in hibernation – VIVA Cruises will open the 2025 season in January with cruses on three ships: VIVA ONE, VIVA TWO and VIVA ENJOY.

The popular Danube river will once again be served by VIVA TWO. Guests can now book 5-night city trips to and from Passau (Germany) as well as 5-night crime themed cruises. In addition to the tried-and-tested 11- and 15-night voyages, the ship, christened in 2023, will also offer more departures from Vienna next year in response to the increased demand from international customers.

The latest addition to the fleet, VIVA ENJOY – launching in autumn this year – will connect Amsterdam, Budapest and Vienna for the first time in 2025 with new 7-, 10- and 14-day itineraries, including a trip through the Iron Gates, a spectacular gorge on the Danube. In addition, VIVA ENJOY will set sail next year on wellness trips from/to Frankfurt, and one-week trips from Frankfurt to Amsterdam.

Longer trips on the Rhône will be added in the future, sailing on VIVA VOYAGE from Arles to Lyon, with an overnight stay in Lyon.

New theatre cruises and party in Kiel

In response to the popularity of themed cruises, VIVA Cruises will be adding a ‘theatre cruise’ to its 2025 programme. Following a renovation next winter, SWISS RUBY will feature, for the first time, eight suites, where guests will be entertained both on board and ashore on a weeklong voyage from Düsseldorf to Berlin. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in exciting guided tours, including a unique Schimanski tour (a famous German homicide detective) in Duisburg, which will give them an insight into the making of the famous crime series. A trip to the Hans Otto Theatre in Potsdam will also impress visitors, with its historical atmosphere and sophisticated productions.

For sailing fans, VIVA Cruises will be also offering an 8-night cruise from Berlin to Kiel (Germany) in June 2025 for Kieler Woche – the largest sailing event in Europe and one of the most important ones in the world. SWISS RUBY will stay overnight in the port of Kiel where guests will be able to either relax or take part in the colourful sailing regatta. The trip on SWISS RUBY can also be booked in the opposite direction, from Kiel to Berlin.

Bordausstattung

Im Panorama Restaurant der MS VIVA VOYAGE werdet ihr von zauberhaftem Essen verwöhnt. Genießt dabei durch die großen Panorama-Fenster eine tolle Aussicht auf die Flüsse dieser Welt. Neben einem morgendlichen Frühstück mit Ausblick auf die vorbeiziehenden Landschaften, gibt es zum Mittag- und Abendessen mehrgängige Menüs.

Neben dem Restaurant, bietet die MS VIVA VOYAGE auch eine Panorama Lounge bzw. einen Salon mit einer Bar, die sich ein Deck über dem Restaurant befindet. Hier könnt ihr vor dem Essen einen Aperitif einnehmen oder den Abend ausklingen lassen. In der Panorama-Lounge findet auch der Großteil des Unterhaltungsprogramms statt, bei dem gelegentlich auch mal der Mitternachtssnack ausgeteilt wird.

Bar am Heck

Neben der Panorama Lounge, verfügt die MS VIVA VOYAGE über eine weitere, etwas kleinere Bar am Heck. Hier geht es etwas ruhiger zu, als in der Lounge.

Die MS VIVA VOYAGE verfügt auf dem Hauptdeck über einen kleinen aber feinen Wellnessbereich. Hier könnt ihr beispielsweise in einer der beiden Saunen komplett entspannen und Energie für den nächsten Landausflug tanken.

Neben den sich im Inneren befindenden Bereichen, besitzt die MS VIVA VOYAGE noch ein Sonnendeck, das sich nahezu über die gesamte Schiffslänge erstreckt. Auf einigen der Sitzgelegenheiten und Liegestühlen bzw. Sonnenliegen könnt ihr euch einfach nur zurücklehnen und die wunderschöne Landschaft genießen.

VIVA Cruises releases 2025 program, featuring the Douro for the first time and new themed cruises

VIVA Cruises has added the below new ports of call to the 2025 program: Lelystad, Middelburg, and Bruinisse in the Netherlands; the town of Braubach in Germany; and Leverinho, Regua, Vega Terron, and Pinhão in Portugal, in addition to Porto, for the new Douro itineraries.

European river cruise specialist, VIVA Cruises , is announcing the launch its 2025 brochure, full of exciting news. Next year’s program will feature 64 itineraries along Europe’s most popular rivers; new ports of calls; and the launch of brand new Douro cruises on board the new built ship, Porto Mirante . All 2025 itineraries can be already booked online.

With over 60 itineraries to choose from, VIVA Cruises is once again expanding its offering in 2025. Andrea Kruse , CEO of VIVA Cruises, says: “We recorded increased demand last year, particularly from international markets. We want to meet this demand in the coming year with new departure and landing ports, new routes, and new content.”

New cruises on the Douro and new ports of call in the Netherlands and France

Next year, Porto Mirante will open up a new cruising era for VIVA Cruises. The brand new Douro ship that will be christened in May of this year, will sail on the sought-after Portuguese river from May 2025. The newly built ship will then offer trips to and from Porto, with overnight stays in the beautiful coastal city.

New routes in popular itineraries

Following the increased demand for short trips – particularly for the first quarter of the year, when other cruise lines are still in hibernation – VIVA Cruises will open the 2025 season in January with cruses on three ships: VIVA One, VIVA Two , and VIVA Enjoy .

The popular Danube river will once again be served by VIVA Two. Guests can now book 5-night city trips to and from Passau (Germany) as well as 5-night “Crime/Mystery Series” themed cruises. In addition to the tried-and-tested 11- and 15-night voyages, the ship, christened in 2023, will also offer more departures from Vienna next year in response to the increased demand from international customers.

The latest addition to the fleet, VIVA Enjoy – launching in autumn of this year –  will connect Amsterdam, Budapest and Vienna for the first time in 2025 with new 7-, 10- and 14-day itineraries, including a trip through the Iron Gates, a spectacular gorge on the Danube. In addition, VIVA Enjoy will set sail next year on wellness trips from/to Frankfurt, and one-week trips from Frankfurt to Amsterdam.

Longer trips on the Rhône will be added in the future, sailing on VIVA Voyage from Arles to Lyon, with an overnight stay in Lyon.

New theater cruises and party in Kiel

In response to the popularity of themed cruises, VIVA Cruises will be adding a ‘theater cruise’ to its 2025 program. Following a renovation next winter, Swiss Ruby will feature, for the first time, eight suites, where guests will be entertained both on board and ashore on a week long voyage from Düsseldorf to Berlin. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in exciting guided tours, including a unique Schimanski tour (a famous German homicide detective) in Duisburg, giving them insight into the making of the famous crime series. A trip to the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam will also impress visitors, with its historical atmosphere and sophisticated productions.

For sailing fans, VIVA Cruises will be also offering an 8-night cruise from Berlin to Kiel (Germany) in June 2025 for Kieler Woche – the largest sailing event in Europe and one of the most important ones in the world. Swiss Ruby will stay overnight in the port of Kiel where guests will be able to either relax or take part in the colorful sailing regatta. The trip on SWISS RUBY can also be booked in the opposite direction, from Kiel to Berlin.

Till today Lyon, the second largest city in France, stands in the tourist shadow of the French capital Paris. However, this is completely unjustified. If you travel to Lyon in France, you will experience a wonderful mix of a historic old town, excellent cuisine, numerous festivals and picturesque surroundings. Strolling through the alleys of Lyon's old town is a real pleasure. In the medieval and Renaissance style streets and alleys, you can discover something new at every corner. A special feature of Lyon are the so-called "traboules" - passageways and staircases that allow passage through buildings and courtyards from one street to another. Due to its extensive historic fabric, large parts of Lyon are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The best view of this beautiful city can be enjoyed from the Basilica Notre-Dame de Fourvière. Gastronomy is also very important in the city on the Rhone. In the home of Paul Bocuse, you can dine excellently in more than 2,000 restaurants. In combination with the excellent wines from the surrounding area, you eat in Lyon like God in France.

Tournon is a French commune in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region with about 10,000 inhabitants. The Rhône River is one of the longest rivers in the country, flowing through the town. Vernon Castle is partially listed and offers a museum. It was in the castle that François de France, heir to the French throne, died in the 16th century. Traces of the nobility can still be discovered in the old town, which invites visitors to stroll around. The Jardin d'Eden lives up to its name.

Who doesn't know it, the French folk song "Sur le Pontd'Avignon", which made the town on the left bank of the Rhône world-famous ? But its true importance Avignonacquired in the 14th century, when the pope was forced to leave the city due to war. Century, when the Pope because of warlike unrest seeked exile there. True to the motto "Where the Pope is, there is Rome" dawned a brilliant period of prosperity, which was accompanied by the construction of Gothic monasteries and churches. The monumental Papal Palace resembles with its jagged parapets and gecurving towers of a fortress and serves as a unique backdropfor an annual theater festival. But it attracts not only artinterested, but also gourmets in the picturesque lavender landscape of Provence.

Roman relics, medieval evidence and romaniche architecture: Arles invites you to travel through the eras and stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the threshold to eternity. At the gates of the "little Rome" makes itself tothat the natural landscape Camargue with pink flamingos, white wild horses and wide sand dunes wide. Already van Gogh let himself be inspired by the color play of Provence and be seduced by the southern flair of the city. Art lovers can follow the traces of the master thanks to marked routes and stop at the famous "night café" at Place du Forum. Today the former seat of government of Emperor Barbarossa a place full of possibilities, where monumental buildings with motheir museums are in harmony.

Looking like a sleeping beauty, Viviers sits on the right bank of the Rhône-bank. The historic town center is preserved and forms a fabulous backdrop for a trip to times long past. Through winding alleys leads a walk from the subtown, where merchants and craftsmen lived in the Middle Ages, in The Upper Town, the former refuge of the well-heeled and spiritual. Here, the richly decorated facade of the Maison des Chevaliers always discover new detailscovers. From the smallest cathedral in France, the Cathédrale Saint-Vincent, it is not far to the Belvédère de Châteauvieux. The trip is rewarded with a fantastic view over the tiled roofs of the city and the Rhône Valley.

The cabins on the Diamond and Ruby Decks all have French balconies, inviting guests to enjoy the passing scenery from the comfort of their beds. The Diamond Deck features mostly twin cabins, which are 15 m ² in size, and four 19 m ² size Junior Suites. The Ruby Deck also has mostly 15 m ² large twin cabins and additionally two 19 m ² large Junior Suites. The Emerald Deck has 15 m ² large twin cabins and one 19 m ² large Junior Suite, all of which have windows that cannot be opened. The 2012-built MS Lord Byron cruise ship offers voyages mostly on Moselle River (in Holland), also on Rhine and Danube. The ship is also deployed in France to operate voyages on Rhone River. The riverboat is owned by the Swiss company Scylla Cruises . In 2012-2020, the vessel was operated under charter by the UK cruisetour company Riviera Travel. Since 2020, the boat is chartered to VIVA Cruises (Scylla-owned subsidiary and travel brand).

Shipboard facilities and amenities

The riverboat Lord Byron features an elegant Lobby (entrance hall on Diamond / Upper Deck) with Reception Desk (24-hour assistance, information, purser services), Travel Desk (tours and excursions information, onboard cruise booking) and Boutique Shop. From the entrance hall (lobby area) passengers walk into Panorama Lounge (Bar Lounge) with floor-ceiling windows, comfortable seating, full-service Bar) and bow-located Lido Terrace (with small outdoor seating).

Aft on Diamond Deck is the Bistro - Lido Restaurant, an alternative to the Dining Room Restaurant. The Bistro is served by its own Bar and also doubles as Library. It has an outdoor terrace and open kitchen. Here are served early Breakfast, light Lunch and Dinner. In good weather, the floor-ceiling window doors are fully opened onto the terrace for al fresco dining. Bistro's dining is complimentary, but dinners require reservations due to the restaurant's small capacity  (10 tables with 2 or 4 seats). Ship's Dining Room Restaurant (on Ruby / Middle Deck) provides single-seating capacity buffet-style Breakfast and waiter-served Lunch and Dinner.

On Emerald / Lower Deck is the ship's Wellness Centre consisting of Beauty Salon (hairdresser and barber services, nail studio), Fitness (Gym Room) and Spa (treatment room for massages). All cabin decks are fully air-conditioned and accessed via lift (passenger elevator) and stairs (forward, midship and aft), including a grand staircase in the Atrium.

On Sun Deck are located deckgames area (Giant Chess Set, Mini-Golf Putting Green), shaded seating areas (covered by retractable awnings and surrounded by Walking Track), aft Pool Deck (Splash Pool, Jacuzzi Whirlpool, sunbathing area with loungers and deckchairs), fore-located Alfresco Lounge (with full bar service from Panorama Lounge on Upper Deck)). The fore-located Navigation Bridge (called "Wheelhouse" on riverboats) is passenger accessible and telescopic (lowered when the ship passes under low bridges).

MS Lord Byron has a total of 74 staterooms for up to 148 passengers.

Most staterooms have wall-to-wall and floor-ceiling glass doors (opening to a railing/French Balcony), except Emerald Deck cabins, which are with a fixed window (non-opening, quarter-height) located close to the ceiling.

All passenger staterooms as standard amenities offer hotel twin beds (convertible to double), en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, towels, bath toiletries, large mirror), 40-inch HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system, bow camera real-time views), mini-bar, tea-coffee making facility, glass-top round table with 2 armchairs, mirrored dressing table with pouf chair, wardrobe, electronic safe box, hairdryer, phone, individual air-conditioning, evening turndown service.

All cabin bathrooms are with marble tops, glass showers (large rain shower heads) and brand bath cosmetics (by Crabtree and Evelyn). Some staterooms are available for single occupancy booking (without a single supplement, subject to availability). Deluxe Suites (on Diamond Deck) additionally offer (as bonus amenities) larger interior space, step-out balcony (furnished with table and 2 chairs, can be used for al fresco dining), premium cotton bathrobes and slippers.

MS Lord Byron Wiki

Vessel's construction (hull and superstructure) was done at the Vahali Shipyard in Belgrade Serbia . The 1923-founded Dutch shipbuilding company (Scheepswerf En Machinefabriek Vahali BV) owns and operates yards in Serbia (Belgrade, and Zasavica) and in Holland (Gendt). Vahali Shipyard Zasavica was officially opened in 2013. Following the construction in Serbia, the cruise ship was towed to Holland for final outfitting at Scheepswerf Vahali (Gendt).

In 2020, the vessel's flag-state/registry was changed from Malta (MMSI 229346000, registered in Valletta ) to Switzerland (MMSI 269057570, registered in Basel ).

In 2024 was completed an extensive refurbishment project that resulted in redesigned and renovated public areas, passenger cabins, and aft Bistro. The enhancements included new furnishings and carpeting.
