Bhoramdeo temple:

The main temple Bhoramdeo is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple called the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh was constructed somewhere between the 7th and 11th centuries, and it stands strong ever since. The ‘Rudra’ Sculpture:

One of the famous excavations is perhaps the ‘Rudra’ image of Lord Shiva. This rare sculpture gives us a glimpse into different shades of the Lord Shiva’s personality standing at the height of 254m and width of 1m. A unique sculpture of Lord Shiva was excavated at the Devrani temple during the year 1967-88.

Devrani – Jethani Temple:

Devrani – Jethani Temple flaunts excellent carving work and pillars. The temple consists of the Ardha Mandapa Garbha, Griha, and the Antraal. Along the temple, there are huge elephant statues guarding each side of the internal chambers which adds more royalty to the anagogic ambience.

Chhattisgarh is a state of multi cultures, traditions and a melting pot for different people coming in from all parts of India . This is one of the largest states in India and has been formed not too long ago. The state borders Madhya Pradesh , Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh , Orissa and Jharkhand; therefore it is placed to the center east of the country. The state has hilly terrain as well as plains, with several rivers flowing around it. You can easily reach Chhattisgarh by air, rail or road as the cities are well connected to each other and there shouldn’t be any problem traveling. Tourism in Chhattisgarh is popular during winters when the air is cool and the climate is pleasant to go out and see different attractions. Below is our travel guide to Chhattisgarh that will tell you more about the places to visit and the things you can do in the popular as well as offbeat cities of Chhattisgarh.

How to Reach

Chhattisgarh has three major airports; the first one is in Raipur called Swami Vivekananda International Airport, situated at a distance of 15.5 km from Raipur city. The Bilaspur Airport distanced at 12.5 km from Bilaspur city is the second major airport and the third one is the Raigarh Airport at 10.2 km from the main city. Other than these there are other airports as well, but the frequency of flights in these airports is much better.

Chhattisgarh has well maintained roads and highways that link the different cities together as well as links it to adjacent states. Due to great connectivity, it is easy to travel to Chhattisgarh by car. You can also think of taking a bus that is run by CSRTC and make for a good road trip. If you are coming from neighbouring states, you can take an overnight luxury bus as well.

The zonal headquarters of South East Central Railway of Indian Railways is Bilaspur, which is one of the main cities of Chhattisgarh; hence, connectivity by rail is not a problem. There are several railheads out of which some important ones are The Bilaspur Junction railway station distanced at 1.4 km from the city and Raipur Junction Railway Station located at 1.4 km from the city. These railheads have trains coming in with more frequency and are the recommended railway stations for long distance travel.

Getting Around:

You can easily get around the cities in Chhattisgarh by using the public means of transport in the state. You can choose to ride the CSRTC buses that will take you to almost all the places, especially the attractions. If you want a more comfortable ride, take a taxi, which might come out a little more expensive or you can take an auto rickshaw as well. You can also rent out a car for the purpose of sightseeing.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

Summer (March-June):

Summers in Chhattisgarh that start in the month of March and stay until June are the hottest months in this state. Temperatures during this time range from 35°C to 45°C, with some summers beiong brutal and the mercury rising up even more. This is not the recommended time to visit but it is a great time to see a lot of wildlife activity in the sanctuaries.

Monsoon (July-October):

Giving respite to the region in the month of July and lasting all the way to October is the monsoon season in Chhattisgarh. Temperatures during this time range from 28°C to 35°C, making it very cool and pleasant. A lot of people like to visit during this time to enjoy the climate and go sightseeing s well. There is moderate rainfall at this time and it is a safe time to go.

Winter (November-February):

The best season to visit Chhattisgarh is during winters due to the cool climate. Temperatures in the winter months range from 12°C to 22°C and as you can imagine, this means it is quite cold. During some winters, temperatures go down even lower and cause the climate to be very cold. Always carry appropriate clothing during winters if you are visiting.

Visit the Capital Raipur :

The former capital of Madhya Pradesh and now the capital of Chhattisgarh is Raipur. The city is the highest producer of steel in the city and there are a number of plants that manufacture in there. The city is known for having a lot of people from different backgrounds, making it a multi cultural city. Enjoy the shopping and cuisine from the city.

Go to Kanger Ghati National Park:

One of the most famous national parks in Chhattisgarh as well as India is the Kanger Ghati National Park. This is a great place to visit if you are fond of seeing animals in their natural habitats. Spread over 200 sq km, this park has some of the most beautiful creatures and also birds that have migrated or are natives.

Feel Peaceful at Dhamtari :

Stretching over an area of 4084 sq km, Dhamtari is a district in Chhattisgarh that has 213132 hectares of land dedicated to natural forests. Once you visit the district, you get a feel of nature and at the same time you can also see the lifestyle of the tribes that have been living there for years. You can also get to buy agricultural equipments from Dhamtari.

Go on a Jungle Safari:

There is a lot that Chhattisgarh as a state has to offer to its visitors in terms of food. The cuisine in Chhattisgarh is influenced by the food patterns in its neighbouring states and hence you are able to experience diversity in food here as well. Muthia is a famous snack that is made of rice batter and is seasoned with aromatic spices,; this dish is usually eaten by the locals for breakfast, try it their style and be a part of the culture. Something in between a chapatti and a dosa is a chila, which is also prepared from rice batter; make sure you dip it in coriander mint chutney to get the authentic taste. Don’t forget to try desi momos called Faraa that have spicy stuffing inside and are wrapped in rice pancakes and then steamed. Other then these delicious items, you can go for other things like tilgur, bafauri and dubki kadi. All of these items you can find all over the state of Chhattisgarh.

Modi Govt 3.0 Live Updates: Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers swearing-in, S Jaishankar assumed charge as the Minister of External Affairs once again. Ashwini Vaishnav took charge of the Railways Ministry while Bhupinder Yadav and Manohar Lal Khattar assumed charge of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Ministry of Power, respectively.

Expressing confidence in Modi 3.0’s foreign policy, Jaishankar highlighted key priorities such as addressing challenges posed by China’s tactics along the frontier and safeguarding India’s interests amidst developments in West Asia and the conflict in  Ukraine . “Our focus regarding China will be on finding solutions to border issues, while with Pakistan, we aim to address the longstanding issue of cross-border terrorism,” he remarked.

Returning for a second term as Minister of Railways,  Ashwini Vaishnaw also assumed additional portfolios as Minister of Information and Broadcasting, and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology. “The Prime Minister’s continued emphasis on railways underscores its significance as a vital mode of transport for the common man and a cornerstone of our nation’s economy. Modi ji shares a deep emotional connection with the railways,” Vaishnav said.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were felicitated by party workers and leaders at an event in Rae Bareli.

This marks the first time the two have visited Rae Bareli after Rahul's win from the constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.

Senior BJP leader and Arunachal West MP Kiren Rijiju took charge as the Minister of Minority Affairs on Tuesday.

Rijiju served as the Law Minister in the second Union government, and later as the Earth Sciences Minister.

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee chief K Sudhakaran on Tuesday criticised the lack of Muslim representation in the third government led by PM Modi and said that this was "extremely undemocratic".

Referring to Modi’s controversial remarks during the poll campaign, Sudhakaran said alleged that the he had come to power by making hate speeches.

Sudhakaran further said that the INDIA Front and the Congress, which is leading it, will move forward by bringing together all people.

BJP leader Amit Shah on Tuesday took charge as the Union Home Minister for the second consecutive term.

Shah has been holding the portfolio since 2019.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arjun Ram Meghwal is set to continue as Minister of State (independent charge) in the Ministry of Law and Justice in the newly formed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre.

Meghwal has also assumed the charge as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs today.

JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh took charge as Minister of Panchayati Raj; and Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying on Tuesday.

Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday took charge as Parliamentary Affairs Minister.

He was the law minister and later became the minister for earth sciences in the second Modi government (2019-2024)

BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who served as Union Jal Shakti Minister in the previous government, has now taken charge of the Union Culture and Tourism Ministry.

"The voters have given Narendra Modi the privileged opportunity of becoming the Prime Minister of the country for the third time... Former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar took charge as the power minister in the newly-formed Union Cabinet of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Khattar will replace R K Singh who lost elections from Arrah in Bihar. Khattar has also been appointed the Housing and Urban Affairs Minister.

Taking charge of the Environment Ministry on Tuesday, Bhupinder Yadav discussed the ongoing Mission LiFE initiated by PM Modi at COP26 in Glasgow in 2022. “Mission LIFE promotes sustainable development and conscientious consumption worldwide,” he stated, while also highlighting the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign launched by the PM to commemorate World Environment Day 2024.

He had held the same portfolio in the previous Modi government after taking it over from Prakash Javadekar in July 2021.

Contesting his first Lok Sabha Election, Yadav won from Rajasthan's Alwar constituency, defeating Congress' Lalit Yadav with a margin of 48,282 votes.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, former aviation minister, is now in charge of Communications, and Development of North Eastern Region Ministries. 

Two days after the swearing-in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers, S Jaishankar assumed charge as the Minister of External Affairs once again. 

What he said after assuming charge: 

-- "Our focus regarding China will be on finding solutions to border issues, while with Pakistan, we aim to address the longstanding issue of cross-border terrorism,” he remarked.

MP Election Results 2024 Highlights: As the counting of concluded on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh, all 29 seats were reigned upon by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it registered a roaring victory. Along with winning key seats like Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur, BJP also managed to snatch the only seat Congress won in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Chhindwara – former Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s home turf.

The BJP maintained its dominance by reclaiming victory on the lone seat which was held by the Congress after victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. It was a steep uphill battle for the Congress in this electoral cycle, which was nearly wiped off from the state in the last electoral process. However, it was unable to convert its campaign efforts into victory.

In a landslide victory, the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) painted the state saffron as it clinched victory on all 29 seats in the state. This is a gain for BJP in MP from the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, where it won 28 seats and one seat was won by Congress .

The Bharatiya Janata Party ’s ( BJP ) sitting MP from Indore, Shankar Lalwani, won on Tuesday by a record margin of 11,75,092 votes in a contest where NOTA created a record with 2.18 lakh voters opting for the ‘none of the above’ option in the Lok Sabha elections.
