Pilgrimage to The Holy Land, Qatar & Istanbul

Activity level, group limit, pilgrimage overview.

Join us on a Pilgrimage to The Holy Land, Qatar & Istanbul with Fr. Roger Noriega and Fr. Alex Aquino!

Depart for your flights to Qatar. Dinner on-board, relax, and anticipate your arrival the next day.

Arrive Qatar

We are greeted upon arrival by our Holy Land Travel Center Representative who will accompany us throughout the pilgrimage. We then transfer to our hotel for a welcome dinner and overnight.

Embark on an extraordinary day of exploration and cultural immersion in Doha, Qatar. Stroll along the Corniche promenade and indulge in authentic Qatari cuisine. Immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Qatar at the Katara Cultural Village where we can witness traditional craftsmanship, and enjoy vibrant performances. Transfer to Villagio Mall for lunch and free time.

This morning we explore the bustling Souq Waqif where we will engage with friendly vendors, and discover unique treasures. We return to our hotel to rest and get ready for our evenings activities. Experience the thrill of a desert safari, capturing breathtaking sunset views, and savoring a Bedouin dinner amidst the dunes. We then return to our hotel for overnight.

Depart Qatar

Today we take our flights from Doha and fly to Tel Aviv. We are greeted upon arrival by our Holy Land Travel Center Representative who will accompany us throughout the pilgrimage. We then transfer to our hotel for a welcome dinner and overnight.

Bethlehem / Ein Karem

On our first day in the Holy Land, we present an overview for a better understanding of its geography and some of the key sites surrounding the area and what makes it such a unique area to the three major religions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We then head to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St John the Baptist and to the Church of Visitation where the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the ‘Magnificat’. In the afternoon we drive to the Shepherd’s Fields where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. Then we visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem that stands upon the site where Jesus was born. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Caesarea / Haifa

After breakfast, we head to Caesarea by the Sea to visit the Roman Crusader remains before we continue to Haifa. Upon arrival in Haifa, we will visit Stella Maris, a Carmelite Monastery with the Madonna of Mt Carmel. Next, we stop at the Baha’i Gardens, which includes a staircase of nineteen terraces extending all the way up the northern slope of Mount Carmel. We visit the Basilica of the Annunciation where we will celebrate Mass. We then continue to our hotel in Nazareth.

Today we will take boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St Peter’s house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount was given, to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter’s Primacy where Peter was told “Feed my lambs, feed my sheep.” There will be an unforgettable Mass near the shores of the Sea of Galilee at the Primacy or Mt Beatitudes. Next, we head the Magdala Center, the village of Mary Magdalene, where we visit the newly built church on site and the newly excavated ruins.

Cana / Dead Sea / Jericho

After breakfast, we drive to Cana, where couples will have the opportunity to renew wedding vows. Continue to Mount Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration. We then drive to the Jordan River to remember our Lord’s baptism. Then to the town of Jericho and visit the excavations of the oldest city in the world and view Mt. Temptation where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. On the way back there is time for a swim (or rather a float!) in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, renowned for its healing properties.

Mt of Olives

We begin our day with a visit to the Mount of Olives where Jesus prayed, continue to the church of Pater Noster where Jesus taught the disciples the Lord’s Prayer. Next, we walk the Palm Sunday Road, stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Then to Gethsemane, the Rock of Agony where Jesus prayed His last prayer before his arrest.

Today we head to Mount Zion, visiting the cave of Assumption (Dormition Abbey) of Mary to heaven. We visit the room of the Last Supper, and the Church of St. Peter Gallicantu, where Peter denied Jesus three times. We end our day visiting the Wailing Wal before we continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Old City Jerusalem

After breakfast we head to Jerusalem and start our visit with St Anne Church (the traditional birthplace of the Virgin Mary). Continue to view the Sisters of Zion, Ecco Homo where Pilate proclaimed “Behold the man.” Next, we retrace the last steps of Jesus as we walk along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrow), through the markets of the Old City praying the Stations of the Cross at each station shrine, we reflect on the greatness of His sacrifice. Finally, we arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Mass. Free time in the Old City of Jerusalem for prayers. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

This morning we board our short flights to Istanbul. After visa formalities, we transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

This morning we head to the Sultanahmet district. This World Heritage-listed district is crammed with historic buildings and enough magical atmospheres to keep you enthralled for days. Full day at the Sultan Ahmed (Blue) Mosque with its six minarets and thousands of blue tiles, the Basilica of St. Sofia, (church of the sacred wisdom), now a museum, converted to a mosque from a Christian Basilica after the fall of Constantinople in 1453.  Next, we see the century Basilica Cistern to learn how it protected the palace water supply, and why it was lost for hundreds of years.

Grand Bazaar

We begin our day with a visit to the Topkapi Palace; overlooking the Sea of Marmara. We then visit the Grand Bazaar for shopping. The Grand Bazaar is an amazing place – literally a maze of streets. It is one of the largest undercover bazaars in the world and is even divided into areas like the leather section, or the rug section. After lunch get on a private boat for a cruise over the Bosphorous. Disembark at Hisar and step into Istanbul’s history at Rumeli Fortress, a 15th century fortification built by an iconic sultan.

Christian Istanbul

We explore the Eastern Orthodox Christian sites of Istanbul, known in Byzantine times as Constantinople. Visit the Orthodox Patriarchate in the beautiful Church of St George and check out other richly gilded places of worship including the Church of St Mary of the Mongols, and Chora Church, famous for its glittering Byzantine mosaics and frescoes. We then transfer to the Camlica Mosque, the largest mosque in Turkey. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Return to USA

After breakfast, we board our flight home, carrying with us memories and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING...

holy land tour from qatar

From a group of individuals, with varying motivation, we left as friends, not only with each other but with the people we met along the way and felt united as a group, bound by the shared and varied experiences which Holy Land Trust had given us. It was exhausting and amazing in equal measure, but above all, a once in a lifetime experience.

This program gives you a truly extensive immersion experience across The Holy Land. The community projects, the family visits, and access to policymakers sets this program apart from all the rest.

My own Christian faith has been deepened from my experience. I have more hope for the region from having met so many incredible people.

The most amazing thing is how the Palestinians have retained their amazing spirit! I felt so welcomed by everyone I spoke with and met while at PSE. By the end of my time in Palestine, I had a new family that I loved... many new friends from around the world... and I am happy to let you know I consider  ‪ Palestine my other home. Inshallah"

The tour went very smoothly. Adjustments were made appropriately to itineraries due to traffic conditions or time constraints, transport was comfortable and efficient, the guides were all informative and (mostly!) sensitive and the hotels looked after us well. We all enjoyed the food!

My time spent there was perhaps the most influential thing I’ve ever done, it has greatly ignited my passion for social justice and encouraged me to advocate for the ‪injustice of this conflict as much as I can.

Mo was an excellent tour leader in that he has such passion and enthusiasm about Jordan. I learnt so much about the history and culture and so enjoyed all of the activities. Mo went over and beyond to ensure my dietary needs were met as I have coeliac disease which was much appreciated. Highly recommend this tour.

Everything is great I had an amazing time. Thanks be to God. And thank you, tour radar. Thanks also to CTO and our tour guide Joseph. He is the best. I can’t say anything more.

Road to Jerusalem - 11 days Tour

Road to Jerusalem - 11 days

Awesome tour from start to finish. Our Jordan guide Ghadain was well organised and informative. Tour bus was comfy and accom met or exceeded expectations. Visiting Petra was the highlight. We had difficulties with a truck strike on at the time so our itinerary had some alterations to times and we missed out seeing a couple of things which was unfortunate. The only part of the tour which definitely required better organisation was Wadi Rum. Though a spectacular place, we spent four hours without a toilet and were not fully prepared for how cold it would get as the sun went down. Would have made sense to check into the accommodation first. Our tour guide for Israel, Maher, was awesome. He didn't overfeed us information and had a funny sense of humour. We did feel the last day was unnecessarily rushed though. Some additional time seeing more of Haifa and Old Jaffa Port would have been good. Overall though, I would highly recommend this tour and would not hesitate to book another On The Go tour.

Beautiful itinerary, good accommodation and good meals. Competent tour guides. Perhaps lunches stops in Israel could have been planned better.

Perseids Meteor Shower - 8 days Tour

Perseids Meteor Shower - 8 days

Jordan had been on my bucket list for a while, so I decided what better time to go than for the Perseids Meteor Shower! The welcome transfer at the airport was great as the rep helped us through the visa process, which really helped make the whole arrival stress-free. The tour certainly was 'on the go', with lots of sights and cultural experiences packed into the 8 day trip. The highlights for me were definitely seeing the Treasury in Petra (and a walk up the Monastery is worth the climb!), star gazing in Dana Nature Reserve (unfortunately the road leading to Wadi Rum was closed while we were there), canyoning in Wadi Mujib and floating in the Dead Sea. All the hotels were clean, conveniently-located and had nice restaurants. The transportation was mostly modern air-conditioned vehicles, though on the drive to Dana we did have some older bumpy vehicles, but it was all part of the adventure. As a solo female traveller I felt completely safe and well-looked after the whole trip. I'll definitely be going on another On The Go tour soon!

Discover Israel Tour

Discover Israel

I cannot overstate the knowledge, delivery, character, generosity and service Asmi put in for EVERY one on this tour. He also is such a great personality, enjoys what he does and injected life and himself into every place and experience we shared. Archeological, cultural, spiritual/religious, historical and political questions, he fielded all of them comprehensively and also with a maturity and vulnerability that made me feel I was experiencing getting inside this land of such expansive history and peoples and stories, not simply viewing it as a tourist. Asmi continually gave himself to bring peace and to handle difficult personalities and personal situations of fellow travellers with the utmost respect and help possible. This trip with many of the team members totally exceeded my wildest expectations. Also want to mention Mya Rudich our Jewish guide. This girl was brilliant too! She handled many subjects with an expanse of knowledge and breadth of perspective, not simply representing her own experience as Jewish, but also those which probably are not exactly her own. Through this she broke down my naive perspectives and allowed me to understand a little more of the the diverse range of journeys and wrestles of Jewish people. She is full of fervour to discover peace and growth becoming a universal experience for people in Israel and brought her vulnerability and dreams and creative possibilities she is conceiving herself and through sharing journeys with family and peer. This girl was also a brilliant person and gift to us as a guide. Everyone was deeply impressed by this afternoon experience! A life changing opportunity!

Classic Israel & the Palestinian Territories Tour

Classic Israel & the Palestinian Territories

Really enjoyed this tour which showed the highlights of Israel from an historical point of view. It had a great varied itinerary with religious sites, history, culture and scenery. We were fortunate that our driver Henry suggested altering the itinerary to climb Masada first thing in the morning when it was cooler. The views were amazing! Really enjoyed the walking tour of Old Jerusalem. Our guide seemed less knowledgeable than other guides that we have had on past Intrepid tours but our driver helped fill in the gaps.

Fr. Dan Dashner

Each day, early in the morning on this Holy Land Pilgrimage we were off and running. The driver of the van was a very safe and considerate driver who not only ensured that we arrived at all our assigned destinations on time, but he also ensured that there was plenty of water for all of us to drink as the weather was very hot and we needed to constantly hydrate our bodies. All Holy Site visits were well-planned, and our tour guide was well known by the guards and site coordinators and several occasions we were even granted head of line privileges.

Every day of our journey was fruitful and fulfilling and we were given the opportunity to visit and spend ample time at each site identified in the Catholic Journey Pilgrimage Brochure. In fact, we even visited some sites that were not scheduled and not offered in the itinerary. Confession and spiritual direction were announced as available and was provided as requested and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated each day with the group. Every morning, on the tour motor coach, I led a recitation of The Holy Rosary or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Everybody joined in and I’m sure that our pilgrimage was blessed and especially protected by the Blessed Virgin Mother of God because during this pilgrimage, I was hit from behind by an electric motor bike. However, I was not seriously hurt and there were no injuries to the operator of the electric motor bike.

On the last day of the pilgrimage to Jerusalem, we went to the Via Dolorosa, and I led stations of the cross all the way to Golgotha where I was privileged to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

This Holy Land Pilgrimage was a dream come true for me because when I was ordained to the presbyterate, I was scheduled to go to the Holy Land This trip was on my bucket list of things I wanted to do and an answer to my prayer. Due to our very close group interaction and relationships, we developed with each other, we now have new spiritual families (members of our pilgrimage group). Each of the nine members of our group have called or texted me and each other and assured us of their prayers & support.

Words cannot express my gratitude to Catholic Journeys for giving me this great opportunity to go on pilgrimage to the Holy Land as group Spiritual Director. I commend Catholic Journeys for hiring knowledgeable guides and skilled driver for these pilgrimages. May God continue to Bless & Protect You and All Pilgrims that make this Extraordinary Journey to the Holy Land through Catholic Journeys.

Reverend Father Daniel L. Dashner,

Patrick and Linda

We went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land on 9/17 and returned 9/26. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary first by renewing our vows in Cana and spending last full day on our actual Anniversary with a special Mass at Golgotha and a visit to the Tomb.

Our guide was an extraordinary mix of historian, geography, religion and Shepherd! He kept us all safe and taken care of whatever we needed.

Our Priest, Father Dan, is now the head of our Pilgrimage Family and we are grateful to God and everyone at Catholic Journeys for making this possible!

The pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the Holy Land was wonderful and David, our guide, was fantastic. I was amazed at his knowledge and wish I could have recorded the entire trip. Unfortunately I became ill on the flight over so wasn’t able to fully enjoy trip. Sadly I have been diagnosed with cancer and would appreciate prayers. My roommate was also wonderful to me. Please add me to your prayer list. ✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏

Margaret and Richard

Our pilgrimage to the Holy Land was amazing. Everything was perfect from the time we were picked up at the airport until the day we departed. We had the best tour guide David. I felt blessed each day by his vast amount of knowledge. We were able to gain access to the most beautiful basilicas and had Mass each day. I felt very cared for and safe the entire pilgrimage. I would recommend Catholic Journey to everyone who is considering a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

The pilgrimage to Jerusalem and the Holy Land was awesome despite the heat. Our guide was a wealth of knowledge. David, our tour guide was so passionate about his country and so willing to share his knowledge.
