Saint Lucia’s SLAM program is back with more agent incentives and rates

SAINT LUCIA – The Saint Lucia Tourist Board has launched its annual travel agent incentive program, Saint Lucia Agent Months, otherwise known as SLAM.

Created to showcase the destination to visiting travel agents, SLAM runs through Nov. 30,2 016 and includes booking incentives and special rates on accommodations.

The tourist board has planned a wide range of tours, land and sea excursions, and is inviting agents to enjoy authentic island cuisine and participate in planned site inspections of award-winning hotels.

“Saint Lucia Agent Months are back by popular demand,” said Tracey Warner Arnold, deputy director of Tourism for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board.

“Travel agents appreciate the flexibility to explore and enjoy the island as their clients would, which ultimately helps travel agents create memorable vacations, honeymoons and even weddings for their clients.”

Agents can save 70% off flights via WestJet Vacations when they book and travel by Dec. 15, 2016 (blackout dates apply). Air Canada Vacations will provide agents $500 economy class flights from Toronto from Nov. 5 through Dec. 12, 2016.

Discount fares are applicable for the travel agent and one travel companion.

This Saint Lucia Beach Resort Has Big Travel Agent Incentives

The Landings Resort & Spa, St. Lucia offers a slew of perks for advisors who book the five-star resort.

The Landings provides its travel industry partners with its Travel Industry Rate, which is bookable through website with promo code INDU.

The rate represents more than a 30 percent discount from the hotel’s publicly available daily rates and is based on two nights length of stay.

Travel Industry ID is required. This rate is fully yieldable and is restricted to travel during high demand periods such as Festive and Winter seasons.

Barefoot Holidays, destination management company in St. Lucia, has announced a “Bonus Rewards” program for their leisure and corporate travel agent partners.

With over 25 years of marketing experience, Kelly Fontenelle has been a trailblazer in the Caribbean travel and tourism industry. A native of the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia - much of her professional career has been devoted to growing Saint Lucia’s tourism industry. The expertise developed through the last three decades is unmatched – her understanding of consumer travel trends and the travel agency business has resulted in the Saint Lucia’s significant growth in all subsectors of the American travel market over the last decade.

Kelly played a fundamental role in developing the Saint Lucia Expert (SLEx) loyalty program for SLTA, which resulted in more than 20,000 new and loyal brand agents in less than five years. She also developed the Romance Specialist Program for the island, furthering strengthening the destination’s dominance as a romance destination.

Kelly holds a Master’s degree in Marketing, a Bachelor in Hospitality Management, a certificate in Tourism Planning from the NHTV in Netherlands and a certificate in Marketing Strategy from Cornell.

As a representative at trade shows and industry conferences, Kelly can often be found speaking about destination marketing for television media, in print stories and for trade publications. She has built strong and long-lasting relationship with key stakeholders at every level of the American travel sector.

WestJet adds six additional Asian destinations to its network through enhanced Korean Air codeshare agreement

Beginning May 17, 2024, WestJet guests will gain access to six additional cities across four Asian countries from Incheon International Airport (ICN) through an expansion of WestJet’s codeshare agreement with Korean Air, one of the world’s only 5-star airlines as awarded by Skytrax. 

Through the agreement, guests will have more opportunity to explore unique transpacific Asian destinations beyond Seoul with a seamless single connection at ICN and the convenience of booking their entire journey with one ticket, baggage transfers, and earning WestJet Dollars throughout. 

New WestJet Codeshare Destinations 

• Bangkok, Thailand (BKK)  
• Da Nang, Vietnam (DAD)  
• Hanoi, Vietnam (HAN) 
• Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (SGN) 
• Hong Kong, China (HKG) 
• Singapore (SIN)   

“As we prepare for WestJet’s inaugural flights between Calgary and Incheon, the timing of this codeshare expansion is ideal.  We are enhancing connectivity to more destinations in Asia for our guests and WestJet Rewards members from one of the world’s busiest cities, and Korean Air’s global hub” said Jeff Hagen, WestJet Vice-President of Commercial Development and Strategic Partnerships. “Our longstanding reciprocal partnership with Korean Air opens up exciting opportunities for leisure and business travellers to more locations in the Asian continent and offers new guests in Asia access to all of Canada through our global hub in Calgary.” 

Following the success of WestJet’s entry into Asia, the airline recently introduced seasonal service between YYC and ICN. The new route launches on May 17, 2024, and will fly on WestJet’s 787 Dreamliner up to three days per week during peak travel periods.  

“We are excited to announce an expanded codeshare with our longstanding partner WestJet, offering our valued customers access to a wide range of transpacific destinations,” said Tae Joon Kim, Korean Air Senior Vice President and Head of International Affairs & Alliance. “The launch of WestJet’s Calgary - Seoul Incheon route will bolster connectivity between Korea and Canada, while our strengthened partnership will seamlessly connect customers to an expanded array of Asian and Canadian cities through our hubs in Incheon and Calgary, respectively.” 

All WestJet codeshare destinations are now available through WestJet’s website, the WestJet app, and travel agent partners, where WestJet Rewards members can earn and redeem WestJet Dollars on their entire journey. Visit WestJet.com for further details.
