Best Hotels In Melaka: Where To Stay In Melaka For The Best Trip Ever!

In this article, I will help you find the top hotel in Melaka for your needs no matter what your budget or what exactly you are looking for.

So whether you need a boutique hotel Melaka, a Melaka hotel near Jonker Street, a Melaka hotel apartment or a cheap hotel in Melaka, we have you covered with the best resort in Melaka for you.

Here is our Melaka hotel list as well as some information about where to stay in Melaka.

Comparison Of The Best Hotels In Melaka Town

In this table, you will find a comparison of all the top choice for the best hotel in Melaka.

Where To Stay In Melaka

Like many cities in Malaysia, Melaka is fairly spread out and there are many different locations that travellers choose to base themselves in. Below I’ve provided a brief overview of the most popular areas tourists choose to stay in Melaka.

Jonker Street

Hotels around Jonker Street tend to be the most popular for people coming to Melaka. Here you will find a wide range of accommodation options, particularly for those looking for a cheap hotel in Melaka town area.

The best thing about staying around Jonker Street is that you’re in walking distance to most of the Melaka attractions. You’re also close to plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. And, of course, Jonker Street is also where the famous Jonker Street Night Market takes place every weekend.

If you’re looking for good value hotels in Melaka City , where you are in the heart of it all, a hotel around Jonker Street is where you should stay. If you are looking for some peace and quiet – Jonker Street is not the place for you.

Malacca City

Not too far from Jonker Street, you will find Malacca City. This is a modern part of the city which is known for its European architecture.

Malacca City is where you will find large modern hotels with access to several shopping malls. This is a good location for people who want more luxurious hotels and to be surrounded by all the amenities you’d expect from any modern city.

While Malacca City is a little further to most of the main landmarks than Jonker Street accommodation, it’s still within walking distance or there is public transport.

Ayer Keroh is the place to be for those who want to escape the busy city centre, but still, be within easy access to the main Melaka tourist attractions. Located around 15 kilometres east of Malacca City, Ayer Keroh is the perfect location for travellers in search of some peace and quiet.

Ayer Keroh also has its own tourist attractions to explore. Here you will find the Melaka Bird Park, the Malacca Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary and the Melaka Zoo. These attractions make the location perfect for families and nature lovers.

This area has a good selection of accommodation to choose from, however, as can be expected there are less dining and shopping options here than the city centre.

Asia in a Nutshell

One of Malaysia’s smallest states, Melaka (or Malacca) has an important place in the country’s history. Home to one of the first Malaysian sultanates, it features a fabulous, replica sultan’s palace in the capital – Melaka City.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sprawling city is a fascinating mix of architecture, including temples, mosques and churches dating back to Dutch and Portuguese colonial periods. Alongside more modern structures - such as Masjid Selat (also called the Malacca Straits Mosque) just offshore by Melaka beach - are ruins of A Famosa fort, wooden fishing boats, and traditional buildings in the Kampung Morten area, by a sharp bend in the Melaka River.

The city is also a rich mix of Asian nationalities and the Chinatown hotels near Jonker Street weekend night markets are particularly popular.

Melaka Airport is in the northern Batu Berendam suburb, and to the east is the Malacca International Trade Center in the small town of Ayer Keroh. Surrounded by lush greenery, this town also houses Melaka Zoo and the Taman Mini Malaysia and Mini ASEAN theme parks, featuring cultural events and reconstructions of housing styles typical of the Malaysian regions and south-east Asian countries.

Wherever you choose to stay, Booking.com has a great range of apartments, guest houses and hotels in Melaka to choose from.

Arenaa deluxe hotel.

Arenaa Deluxe Hotel is always my first choice. I've stayed here many times and never once disappointed with their services. The staff are friendly, very helpful and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends to stay here whenever they visit Melaka and they are also regulars now. The rooms are cozy and clean with comfortable beds and pillows. Very convenient and close to restaurants and not far from the town area. I love the view from the balcony 😁.

Amber Cove Melaka

I had an amazing time at the Amber Cove! The apartment's amenities, which included free private parking and free Wi-Fi, made my stay even better. The outdoor pool and round-the-clock security added an air of luxury, and the mini-market on-site was really handy. The garden worked as a peaceful retreat. I felt at home because of the welcoming environment for families. My top pick for a hotel in Malacca is the Amber Cove Melaka Hotel. Strongly advised for a fun visit

Bali Residence Melaka by Jeffery Lam Home Management

The decoration of the whole apartment is superb, mordern design, clean and the bath tub is super big. The bed & pillow so comfy and we sleep very well. Plus extra point with water dispenser. Location not too bad cos there are 7-Eleven & some halal restaurant nearby. Overall stay we satisfied and for sure if we come back will stay again at this apartment. Must try the 2bedroom if we come back to Melaka again. Kuddos to Jeffery Lam & Team.

Bayview Hotel Melaka

Our stay at Bayview Hotel Melaka was exceptional. The staff’s hospitality made us feel at home, and the check-in was swift and friendly. The outdoor pool was a hit with the kids, while the adults enjoyed the serene poolside. Our suite was a haven of comfort with stunning city views, and the beds were incredibly cozy, ensuring a restful sleep. All spots are nearby and walking distance. Highly recommend for families visiting Melaka!

Holiday Inn Melaka, an IHG Hotel

We did a booking absolutely unplanned, because after a couple hours in Melaka we made a decision to stay for a night. So we are family of 3 (2 adults and kid 5yo)we were looking for a hotel with pool and breakfast, close to the city center. Luckily the hotel had enough rooms and we did a booking same day as check in . The room was nice , the hotel pool with infinity view, the breakfast was full of choice! We had a good experience.

Hallmark View Hotel

It's located near Hospital Melaka, which is very convenient for us. Same row is the foodcourt Medan Selera Dataran Bukit Baru, serves western & local dish. Hotel room is just nice for 2pax, facilities i.e. iron, hairdryer, coffee, & Maggie in the Cup (must pay at rm3.50 only) are all there.. plus point is the Coway Water Purifier (outside the room)

The hotel is on the edge of "little india", and on first viewing is a little quirky ( don't take that as a negative ) in a converted shop house. The rooms and facilities are very good, and the lap pool on the roof a great addition. The hotel location is a 10 min walk from the river that is the central focus of the tourist attractions of Melaka,

Pantai Puteri Princess Beach

The apartment is very clean and spacious .My family was very comfortable with the vibes and easy access to the beach. Very well maintained since I believed it was newly renovated. We are looking forward to stay here in future. The owner was very helpful . Hope it can be continuesly be our favourite apartment whilst visiting Melaka .

The location of the hostel is really good - just beside Mahkota Parade (shopping centre with food and amenities), and about 15-20 minutes walk from Melaka's tourist places. The hostel is also really clean (clean toilets and shower facilities) and comfortable beds. There are also coffee, tea and snacks at the common area.

Capital O 90756 Cara Hulu Hotel

Hotel in Kampong Morten

The property is very close to everything and it is immaculate. It’s so clean. Our host Ridzsuan was amazing. He booked a taxi and woke at 5 am to make sure it arrived. He suggested some great restaurants and places to go throughout Malaysia. This was our first time in Melaka and we will be back. Thank you for a great stay!

Room was spacious and comfortable for 3 adults. Shower has good water pressure. Breakfast was great which included many vegetarian options for my mum to try. Staff at the front desk were friendly. We also had dinner at Tosca restaurant located on the 13th floor of Doubletree by Hilton Melaka which was overall pleasant.

I am happy with my stay with this hotel. The room is comfortable, aircond was good, the toilet is clean. Water pressure is good. Located near to the zoo melaka since my intention to bring my son to the zoo. Breakfast also have a lot of choices. Check in process very fast maybe because I arrived there at 1700 hours.

Clean and very comfortable room. The carpet very clean and bathroom clean with nice hot water. What i love the most is this hotel is very near to tourist spot such as menara taming sari, kota melaka, dataran pahlawan mall and medan samudera. It also closed to restaurant. Everything is in walking distance.

Excellent location in the centre of the old city. Clean spacious and charming suite on two levels in a heritage house with balcony overlooking the city. Very helpful staff. Lots of things to see within easy walking distance. If anything has happened in Malaysia, Melaka has a museum about it.

LUXURY 3BR Penthouse I The Shore Hotel & Residence I Seaview I Poolview I 6-9Pax

The location is excellent for Melaka’s historic quarter with everything in walking distance along the river. The pool in the complex is large though very busy. The washing machine was very good. The complex is well known so all the Grab drivers can find it and the management was good.

Hotel is in the perfect location by the Dutch Square in Central Melaka near the Victoria Fountain and the Stadthuys. Walking distance to St Paul's Church, A Famosa Fort, Sultanate Palace Museum, Jonker Street, and the Night Market.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, DPS said the collaboration will spearhead innovative projects in agro-tourism, crops, bio-farming, renewable energy, solar farms, and aquaponics.

Mutiara has secured collaborative agreements with individual landowners for a comprehensive, long-term development of the land in three phases over an initial tenure of thirty years, with an option for a fifteen-year extension.

The first phase of the project will focus on developing agro-tourism attractions, cultivating crops, and establishing bio-farms and aquaponics systems. The second phase will shift focus to renewable energy, primarily through the development of a solar farm.

In the third phase, Mutiara will undertake mixed development projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial components.

The project duration is set between 21 to 25 years, with DPSE holding the first right of refusal for further solar farm development or mixed-use projects.

According to DPS, the profit-sharing structure allocates 35% of net profits to Mutiara and 65% to DPSE.

“Our collaboration with Mutiara Mahajuta is a strategic move to leverage our expertise in green energy and engineering services. This project aligns with our sustainable growth strategy also also contributes to Malaysia’s renewable energy targets.

“We are committed to driving innovation in agro-tourism and renewable energy, ensuring long-term benefits for our stakeholders and the community,” DPS executive chairman Tan Sri Sow Chin Chuan said in a statement.

Dubai’s Mohamed Alabbar to Develop Tourism Projects in Indonesia Worth $3 Billion

Josh Corder , Skift

July 18th, 2024 at 9:45 AM EDT

It is the latest in a string of billion-dollar deals for Alabbar, known for creating Emaar in Dubai.

Josh Corder

One of the most powerful real estate developers in the Gulf is partnering with the Indonesian government to boost its tourism sector.

Eagle Hills, chaired by Emirati billionaire Mohamed Alabbar , has agreed to a $3 billion pact with Indonesia, working to build new airports, hotels and wider tourism infrastructure.

Indonesia’s Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and Eagle Hills will create a $3 billion “cooperation” together, according to Indonesian state news . It is unclear how much money each party is putting in.

It’s a tentative deal right now: It only has a validity of one year and does not lay out any specific timeline for construction or how the money is being used. But it does have the “possibility of extension through mutual agreement.”

The deal is also expected to see renovations for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and various state-owned hotels in the country, bringing them up to “international standards.”

“This partnership aligns perfectly with our national strategy to diversify our economy and establish Indonesia as a premier global tourism destination,” Indonesia’s minister of state-owned enterprises, Erick Thohir, said.

Other Eagle Hills Deals

It is the latest in a string of billion-dollar deals for Alabbar, known for creating Emaar in Dubai. Emaar is the developer behind the world’s tallest building, the world’s largest mall, and a string of luxury hotels across Dubai, including the Armani Hotel.

Eagle Hills, based in Abu Dhabi, is effectively his international development business.

In the past year, Eagle Hills signed deals worth $1.5 billion to build a golf resort in Baghdad; a $4 billion real estate project in Bahrain; $3 billion for a waterfront development in the Latvian capital Riga, including more than 1,000 hotel rooms; and a $5.5 billion development in Budapest. The company also operates in Albania, Egypt, Serbia, Morocco, Oman, Jordan, and Ethiopia.

The majority of Eagle Hills’ developments formed part of larger agreements between the UAE government and other countries.

At the Skift Global Forum East 2023 , the former president of Atlantis Resorts, Tim Kelly, said if a UAE operator like Atlantis wants to go overseas, it has to work directly with governments first as the cost to build that sort of product is so large.

Kelly said: “When we [Atlantis] go into a destination, we go to the community, we go to the government and we tell them we want to put an Atlantis there. It’s not a case of investors telling us they want an Atlantis, it doesn’t work that way.”

“We need alignment at a government level. After that, we look for the investors. If you go money first, it’s not the same. We form connections with governments, make sure we align with values and look for the money.”

For 2023, Dubai saw 17.15 million international visitors, and Dubai International Airport had more than 80 million passengers.

Indonesia had 11.68 million tourists in 2023, a 98% surge over 2022 but still down from the 16 million tourists it had pre-Covid.

Alabbar has some of his own hotel brands he could plant in Indonesia, including the Armani brand, Address, Palace Hotels, and on the more affordable end of the market, Rove and Vida hotels.

Six people found dead at Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel in Bangkok

Authorities in Thailand have said the six people are all foreigners. Investigations into their deaths are ongoing.

Thailand

Six people have been found dead at an upmarket hotel in Bangkok, the Thai government said.

“The prime minister [Srettha Thavisin] has ordered all agencies to urgently take action to avoid impact on tourism,” the Thai government said in a statement on Tuesday.

Thailand’s economy stumbles as philippines, vietnam, indonesia race ahead, how one mexican beach town saved itself from ‘death by tourism’, ‘pink baht’: thailand’s businesses chase same-sex marriage bonanza.

In a separate statement, the Thai police said that the six people were all foreign nationals.

Police officers explained that they found the deceased at the Grand Hyatt Erawan after receiving a call from the hotel’s staff at around 5.30pm (10:30 GMT).

A police official also dismissed earlier reports in Thai media that the six people had been killed in a shooting.

“There is no sign of a shooting,” the official told Reuters, adding that there were Vietnamese nationals among the dead.

The Grand Hyatt Erawan, which has more than 350 rooms, is located in a popular tourist district known for luxury shopping and restaurants.

Tuesday’s incident comes as Thailand looks to further promote its tourism sector, a key driver of Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy.

But this isn’t the first time the country’s tourism sector has been shaken by such incidents. Last October, a shooting spree at a luxury shopping mall, close to the Hyatt, killed two foreigners, prompting government measures to improve confidence in tourism.

More than 28 million foreign tourists visited Thailand last year, spending 1.2 trillion baht ($33.3bn) in the country, where other key sectors of the economy have been slow in recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government expects 35 million foreign arrivals this year, on the back of longer visa stay periods and waivers for several nationalities.

BANGKOK (AP) — The bodies of six people were found Tuesday in a luxury hotel in downtown Bangkok and their deaths may have been caused by poisoning, police and officials said.

Bangkok police chief Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang identified the dead as two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals, and said there were three males and three females. Investigators said the bodies were foaming at the mouth, an officer from the Lumpini police station said on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to release information.

The victims had booked several rooms at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel under seven names, and some were staying on a different floor from the room where they were found dead, Thiti said. Police are still looking for the seventh person included in the booking, Thiti said at a news conference at the hotel.

He said there were no signs of a struggle. The residents of the room where the bodies were found were supposed to have checked out earlier Tuesday and their luggage had already been packed, he said. The bodies were discovered by a maid who went to the room after they failed to check out and found it locked from the inside, Thiti said.

There was food that had been ordered earlier from room service that was left uneaten, but drinks had been consumed, Thiti said. He would not confirm a cause of death, but said the deaths appeared to have occurred about 24 hours before police arrived on the scene Tuesday evening after being called by hotel staff.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin went to the hotel in the evening, and later told journalists that the incident was neither a robbery nor a random assault, and that it should not affect Thailand’s lucrative tourism industry.

Pending the results of autopsies, “Our hypothesis is that they ingested something that killed them,” Srettha said.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said U.S. officials are aware of the reports of the deaths of two U.S. citizens in Bangkok.

“We offer our sincere condolences to the families on their loss. We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to provide consular assistance to those families,” he told reporters in Washington.
