Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation

  • Creating the enabling environment for tourism activities to flourish through the promotion of good standards and efficient service delivery in the hospitality industry and to facilitate investment sector.

  • Identifying, assessing and documenting tourism sites bans attractions for investment and promotion purposes.
  • Establishing and enforcing codes of conduct for travel, trade and business operators.
  • Liaising with relevant government ministries and agencies to ensure the provision of necessary infrastructures to tourism sites.
  • Planning, coordinating, assisting in the development of tourists sites throughout the country.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of standards within the industry.
  • Ensuring the establishment of tourism Development Fund (TDF) to provide financial assistance to practitioners and developers.
  • Ensuring the promotion and marketing of the tourism products and services within and outside the country.
  • Facilitating and encouraging private sector and local communities participation in the development of the tourism industry.
  • Promoting technical and professional tourism services.

This procedure explains various ways to Apply for a Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation Certificate in Abuja. Apply In-Person

  • To apply for a Tourism Development Corporation Certificate in person, the applicant needs to visit the office of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation.
  • The address and contact details of the Corporation can be found in the following link: contact link
  • Visit the office and obtain an application for a Tourism Development Corporation Certificate from the relevant department.
  • Complete the application forms with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
  • Once completed filling the application form, make sure that you attached all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  • Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office. Make the stipulated payment as directed by the officials.
  • After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
  • Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the Certificate.
  • When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will be notified by the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.

Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC)

The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation started out as Nigerian Tourist Association in 1962 before it was changed to NTDC in 1992 as a Federal Government Corporation under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and National Orientation.

The Corporation is responsible for the planning, supervision, development and marketing of tourism in Nigeria. Tourism is a central pillar of economic growth and diversification in any country and the major functions of NTDC among other things include: to encourage people living in Nigeria to take their holiday therein and people from abroad to visit Nigeria and also to encourage the provision and improvement of tourism amenities and facilities in Nigeria.

National Travel Bureau

The National Travel Bureau (NTB), established by decree 81 of 1992, is a tour operating company responsible for tour services and operations within and outside Nigeria.

The Bureau acts as the commercial arm of NTDC, conducting guided tours/excursions, Bus Rental Services, Travel Consultancy and Tour Guide Services. The vision for the establishment of a National Travel Bureau was that of the Nigerian Tourist Association. It was done at that time to ensure that guided tours, sightseeing and package holidays are in place. The NTB is to strengthen private tour companies which are unable to purchase tourist bases.

Folorunsho Coker is an administrator and hospitality and tourism entrepreneur, who was appointed Director General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation in March 2017. His Public Service Career began in Lagos State in 1999 where he served the State in various capacities including; as Principal Aide to the Governor, Deputy Chief of Staff to the State Government, Founding CEO of the Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority and as Special Adviser on Central Business Districts. He also served as Lagos State Commissioner of Tourism, Arts & Culture and established the “ONE LAGOS BRAND”. As DG, NTDC he has conceived the ‘TOUR NIGERIA” brand to drive domestic consumption of tourism products in Nigeria, commercialize tourism and generate employment. The brand is hinged on the identification, exploration, exposition, enhancement and promotion of creative assets across the country using sustainable approaches.

Upon my assumption of office, part of my mandate was to reverse the negative conversation about Nigerian Tourism, galvanize commercial tourism, promote our diverse multi-cultural heritage, innovate new channels of tourism markets whilst promoting Nigeria in a positive light and shaping a positive perception of its citizens.
