Comment to Jennifer: it's important to read everything carefully. I did research on the Louis Cruise Ship and knew if we didn't get off the ship in Santorini,it would be a brief visit, just a few hours. The Louis Cruise line is port-intensive, just a taste, so you return to what you particularly enjoyed. My feeling with most cruises , even the bigger, fancier ones, is that you are in a port for one day, max, so it is just a glimpse.

p.s. there is a Forum Post here on Trip Advisor: Louis Olympia Cruise Ship, that has been active. I plan to do a post there, giving it my input.

Review: My family and I recently took the Aegean Wonder trip, dates of travel were this year September *-**. We were very displeased with the trip and contacted someone at Homeric Tours for a refund. The downfall of our trip started when we got on the [redacted]. The boat was in such poor condition, as were our cabins (room [redacted] and [redacted]). There were stains on our bedding, towels and floor. The shower pressure was poor and the drainage was clogged so our bathroom flooded the first day. Our room smelled of diesel and it was in very poor condition. We went to the reception desk to try to upgrade and speak to the manager and the attendants said he was not available at that time but they would make sure he contacted us as soon as possible. That never happened and were were on the boat for 7 days. In [redacted], the tour guide ([redacted]) rushed us through [redacted] so fast, we barely got any time to appreciate the site. Then we spent over an hour at a rug shop which was not explained in the excursion description. We were very disappointed with that. The island of Crete was a huge disappointment. We elected not to go on the excursion for this one and instead explored around the city. Much of the city was abandoned, the streets were overflowing with trash which smelled horrendous. It was not worth stopping here. Then [redacted], which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, and it was. However, the fact that we were only given 1 hour on the island is absolutely ridiculous. Why would we spend so much time at Crete and Patmos and other islands and then only be given 1 hour in Santorini? What a huge let down on the last day of our trip. We would never recommend this trip to anyone, nor would we recommend Homeric Tours again. We will be passing the word around and making sure future customers know what they are getting into.Desired Settlement: Someone at Homeric Tours needs to acknowledge our trip experience did not meet expectations and we would like a refund. Business Response: We spoke with [redacted] on Sep [redacted], as soon as we received her complaint letter, and informed her that we would forward her email on to the cruise line for their review. The cruise line addressed all complaints and offered a $300 refund to [redacted] for the issues she encountered with her cabin. On October [redacted], I emailed [redacted] to inform her of the refund and also responded to some other points she brought up in her letter. [redacted] replied that same day to thank us for the follow up and express her appreciation for the refund. She gave us her mailing address in case we were going to refund her by check and I then informed her that same day that we already processed the $300 refund back to the credit card that we have on file. [redacted] was satisfied and the file was closed. We were completely unaware at the time that she also submitted a complaint with Revdex.com. If you would like us to send you a copy of all our corresp ondences with [redacted], please let us know. Thank you.

Pete alonso’s 9th inning homer saves mets from 0-6 start as they split doubleheader vs. tigers.

Leave it to the Polar Bear to lift the Mets’ ice-cold offense.

A game-tying, ninth-inning home run by Pete Alonso helped the Mets split what, to that point, had been a dismal doubleheader, setting up a 2-1 win against the Detroit Tigers in Thursday’s second game at Citi Field.

Alonso’s clutch solo shot to lead off the ninth, followed by Tyrone Taylor’s walk-off single three batters later, fueled the Mets’ first victory in six games this season, helping them avoid their worst start in more than 60 years.

“We definitely needed that one,” said Alonso, who recorded the 500th RBI of his career with the homer. “Hopefully we can carry this momentum.”

Alonso’s 403-foot blast to left-center and Taylor’s game-winner both came against Tigers reliever Alex Faedo, completing an improbable comeback in a game in which the Mets went hitless through seven innings.

Tigers starter Matt Manning pitched 5.2 of those hitless frames before giving way to reliever Tyler Holton, who recorded four more outs before Harrison Bader’s single against him led off the eighth.

Bader’s single ended a 13-inning hitless streak for the Mets that dated back to the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader, which they lost, 6-3, in 11 innings.

Alonso’s home run, meanwhile, ended a 14-inning scoreless streak. Brett Baty walked in the next at-bat, moved to second base on a Starling Marte bunt, and scored when Taylor lifted a 3-2 slider down the left-field line.

“It felt good,” said Taylor, whom the Mets acquired in a December trade with Milwaukee. “I’m just happy to help the team win and happy we got the first one out of the way.”

With the offense floundering before the ninth-inning rally, the Mets remained in the game thanks to starting pitcher Jose Butto, who allowed one run in six innings, and reliever Reed Garrett, who hurled three scoreless frames.

The win was the first in the managerial career of Carlos Mendoza , whom the Mets showered with beer and champagne in a celebration afterward.

“Nice to get the first one, finally,” Mendoza said. “We should’ve had it earlier, but that’s baseball. About to get swept there in a doubleheader, with [what] seems like not much going offensively … it feels good, obviously, to get the first one out of the way.”

Thursday’s second game played out completely differently from the first, when the Mets offense froze and the bullpen blew a late lead.

Starting pitcher Adrian Houser, whom the Mets acquired with Taylor in the Brewers trade, began his team debut with five scoreless innings and was up 3-0 when he left with runners on the corners and no outs in the sixth.

Detroit scored its first run on an Andy Ibanez sacrifice fly against reliever Brooks Raley in that inning, then added another on a wild pitch by Jake Diekman in the seventh.

The Tigers tied the game, 3-3, on a Riley Greene home run against Adam Ottavino in the eighth, then rallied for three runs in the 11th, eliciting boos from a sparse crowd on a chilly Queens day.

Colt Keith’s RBI double and Gio Urshela’s two-run single in the 11th came against reliever Michael Tonkin, who previously surrendered five unearned runs in the 10th inning of Monday’s 5-0 loss to Detroit.

The 0-5 start marked the Mets’ worst since 2005 and tied for the third worst in franchise history.

“I’m just happy we’re able to turn the page,” Alonso said. “Any game that you can win in the big leagues is a big deal, especially when you split hairs at the end of the year. It doesn’t matter if it’s at the beginning or at the end or in the middle, every game matters just the same.”

Tuesday and Wednesday’s games were rained out, setting up Thursday’s single-admission doubleheader.

A loss in Thursday’s second game would’ve meant the Mets’ worst start since 1963, when they began 0-8 and finished 51-111. The worst start in Mets history came during their debut season in 1962, when they started 0-9 and finished 40-120.

The Mets no longer have to worry about matching that notoriety as they begin their first road trip of the year, starting Friday night in Cincinnati. Jose Quintana (0-1, 3.86 ERA) is set to pitch for the Mets against the Reds’ Hunter Greene (0-0, 3.86).

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Sei Young Kim took advantage of ideal playing conditions Wednesday, shooting a 6-under 66 in the opening round of the T-Mobile Match Play.

Las Vegas-area residents Danielle Kang and Rose Zhang, making the best use of not having to go on the road, were each just a stroke behind.

Top-ranked Nelly Korda has some work to do to extend her three-tournament winning streak after shooting a 73. Lorena Ochoa, in 2008, was the last LPGA Tour player to win four in a row.

The top 65 players plus ties after the first two days will advance to the third round Friday, and then the top eight players will compete in match play over the weekend. This tournament was entirely a match-play event its first three years, but the format changed this year and attracted easily the strongest field in its short history.

Scores could be noticeably higher Thursday after players competed in calm conditions with a high in the 80s. Wind with gusts of more than 40 mph will greet the players in the second round, and the forecast high for Friday was for 59 degrees. Highs are expected to be in the 60s over the weekend.

Fifteen players broke par in the first round.

Kim, the 2020 Player of the Year, began strong with birdies on six of her first 10 holes. She answered a bogey on the par-4 14th with a birdie two holes later on a par 5.

“The front nine I didn’t expect I play that well,” Kim said.

Shadow Creek is Kang’s home course, but she isn’t assuming anything this week. She finished in the top five in the world in 2019 and 2020 and in the top 20 the following two years, but Kang announced in 2022 that a tumor was discovered on her spine .

Her ranking dropped to 48th last year and she entered this tournament 59th, so a strong showing this week could get the 31-year-old headed in the right direction.

Kang sounded Wednesday like a player with the perspective of not to reading too much into the result of any round. Kang’s mind after the round was on seeing her trainer, walking her dog and cooking dinner rather than what could happen Thursday.

“Sometimes I don’t even know the point of Thursday, Friday, Saturday unless it’s Sunday,” said Kang, who made abut a 75-foot birdie putt on her final hole. “All I can do is stay in the present and play my game and execute the shots and execute the way I normally do.”

Zhang doesn’t call Shadow Creek home, having played on the course just twice, but she gets to stay home this week.

After becoming the first woman to win college golf’s national championship twice, in 2022 and 2023, she left Stanford last year and then won her first LPGA Tour event. That only increased the already lofty expectations for Zhang.

But Zhang, 20, is still searching for his second victory. Ranked 23rd, maybe that will happen this week. Finishing the first round with four consecutive birdies certainly doesn’t hurt.

“I gave myself many opportunities,” Zhang said. “I was able to kind of pin seek a little bit more. Felt really confident with my irons and I had good yardages coming in. Got a couple putts within five, six feet, within three feet, and that really helped me.”
