Embarking on a trip to Croatia requires some preparation, particularly regarding Croatia visa requirements for Indian citizens for Indian nationals. This guide aims to demystify the process, providing a comprehensive look at the types of Croatia visas available, the application process, required documents, and the associated fees.

Whether you're planning a short tourist visit, a business trip, or a longer stay, understanding the correct procedures and preparing accordingly can make your visa application process smooth and stress-free. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know to navigate the complexities of applying for a Croatia visa for Indians.

For Indian nationals planning to travel to Croatia, there are several types of visas available depending on the purpose and duration of the visit:

  • Uniform Schengen Visa (C) : This visa allows for two or multiple entries and is valid for all Schengen Area Member States. It is suitable for short stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. The purposes can include tourism, business, or visiting friends and family.
  • Visa with Limited Territorial Validity (LTV) : This visa type is issued when the holder possesses a travel document not recognized by one or more, but not all, Schengen Area Member States. It permits travel only to the Member States that recognize the travel document. This visa can also be for two or multiple entries, depending on the specifics of the case.
  • Long-Stay Visa (D) : Issued for stays exceeding three months, the D visa is a national visa that allows the holder to stay in the issuing Schengen State for a specified duration, typically for purposes such as work, study, or family reunification. While it allows travel throughout the Schengen Area, the stay in other Schengen countries cannot exceed 90 days within any 180-day period.

These visas cater to different travel needs and legal requirements, providing flexibility and necessary legal coverage for a range of purposes and durations of stay for Indian citizens travelling to Croatia and other Schengen countries.

For Indian nationals applying for a Croatia visa, here is a consolidated list of required documents, simplified and structured for clarity:

  • Visa Application Form : Fully completed and signed.
  • Passport : Must be issued within the last 10 years, valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from Croatia, with a minimum of two blank pages. Include photocopies of the front and last pages, as well as any used pages of current and previous passports.
  • Photographs : Two recent colour photographs with a light or white background, size 35mm x 45mm.
  • Travel Health Insurance : Coverage of at least €30,000 for all medical emergencies, valid throughout your stay in the Schengen area.
  • Cover Letter : Detailing the purpose of your visit and a comprehensive travel itinerary.
  • Travel Itinerary : Full schedule of your travel plans within Croatia and other Schengen countries.
  • Proof of Accommodation : Hotel reservations, a certificate of a paid tourist package, or proof of ownership or lease of a property (such as a boat/yacht).
  • Flight Reservation : Roundtrip flight bookings or proof of onward travel if continuing to a third country.
  • Financial Proof : Recent three months' bank statements, income tax returns for the last three years, and a copy of an international credit card with the latest three months' statement. Include an endorsement on your passport or a receipt of foreign exchange purchase.
  • Employed : A No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your employer on company letterhead, stating your job position, years of service, and approval of leave. Include the last three months' salary slips.
  • Self-Employed : A visa request letter on official letterhead, company registration documents, and the company's last three years' income tax returns.
  • Retired : Pension slips from the last three months.

Additional Requirements for Minors:

  • General : Birth certificate or legal guardianship documents.
  • Travelling without both parents : Notarized consent from both parents or legal guardians, including their personal information, the purpose and duration of the minor's stay, and the validity of consent. Attach copies of both parents'/guardians' ID documents.
  • Travelling with one parent : Notarized consent from the non-traveling parent, unless the accompanying parent has sole custody or guardianship, in which case proof must be provided.

These documents collectively help the Croatian consulate assess your application for a visa. It is essential to ensure all documentation is current, correctly filled out, and submitted in order to avoid delays or rejections in your visa application process.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to apply for a Croatian visa for Indian nationals through VFS Global, with a simplified and streamlined explanation:

Step 1: Determine Visa Type First, identify the type of visa you require for your visit to Croatia, typically a Schengen-type 'C' visa for short stays such as tourism. Check the eligibility criteria, understand the required documents (which must be in English), and familiarise yourself with the visa fees.

Step 2: Complete the Visa Application Fill out the visa application form accurately. You can utilise the 'Digital Document Check' service when scheduling your appointment at VFS Global. This service reviews your application and documents online before you visit the visa application centre.

Step 3: Schedule an Appointment Book an appointment at your nearest VFS Application Centre to submit your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph). You will receive a confirmation email once the appointment is successfully scheduled.

Step 4: Fee Payment Pay the visa application fee, which is approximately €80 (around ₹7,200) plus a logistics fee of approximately ₹1,928.

Step 5: Document Submission Visit the VFS Visa Application Centre on your appointment date to submit your printed application form along with the necessary documents. Here are the locations and operating hours of the visa application centres in India:

  • Bangalore : 09:00 - 17:00
  • Chennai : 08:00 - 15:00
  • Delhi : 09:00 - 17:00
  • Hyderabad : 08:00 - 15:00
  • Kolkata : 09:00 - 17:00
  • Mumbai : 08:00 - 15:00

Step 6: Track Your Application Monitor the status of your visa application using the VFS online tracking tool or through the official Croatian External Affairs website.

Step 7: Collect Your Passport Once your visa application is processed, you can collect your passport and other documents. You have the option to pick them up in person or use a courier service for delivery. If collecting in person, bring the original ICR (Invoice Cum Receipt) and a government ID proof. Family members or company representatives can collect on your behalf with proper authorization and identification.

  • Documents for Collection by Third Parties : They must carry photocopies of the applicant's government ID card, the original ICR, and an authorization letter. If it’s a company representative, the letter should be on company letterhead, accompanied by the representative's official ID card.
  • Lost ICR : If you lose your ICR, you must visit the centre in person to collect your passport.

This streamlined process will help ensure that you meet all the Croatia visa requirements for Indian citizens.

The validity of a Croatian visa for Indian nationals generally depends on the type of visa issued. Here are the typical validities for different types of Croatian visas:

  • Short-Stay Visa (Schengen Type C Visa) : This visa is most commonly used for tourism, business, or family visits and is valid for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period. It can be granted for one, two, or multiple entries, depending on the consulate’s decision and the applicant's travel needs.
  • Long-Stay Visa (Type D Visa) : This visa is intended for stays longer than 90 days and is issued for various purposes such as work, study, or family reunion. The validity of the Type D visa varies based on the duration of the intended stay as specified in the application, but it aligns with the duration of the contract or study period, generally up to one year.

When applying, the embassy will determine the appropriate validity of the visa based on the itinerary submitted, the insurance coverage, and other supporting documents. Applicants are advised to plan their entries and exits within the validity period specified on the issued visa to avoid any issues at the border or with immigration authorities.

The Croatia visa processing time in India typically varies depending on the type of visa and the specific circumstances of the applicant. However, here are the general guidelines:

  • Standard Processing Time : The Croatian Embassy generally decides on a visa application within 15 calendar days from the date of receiving the application. This is the standard processing time for most short-stay (Type C) visa applications.
  • Extended Processing Time : In cases where further scrutiny of the application is required or during peak travel seasons when the volume of applications is high, the processing time can be extended up to 30 or even 60 days.
  • Submission Window : Applicants are advised to submit their visa applications well in advance of their intended travel date. The Croatian Embassy accepts visa applications up to 60 days before the date of travel, and no less than 15 days prior to ensure adequate processing time.

It's important for applicants to factor in these time frames when planning their travel to Croatia to ensure they receive their visa in time for their trip.

For Indian nationals applying for a Croatia visa, the fees are structured as follows:

Applicants aged 12 and above:

  • Visa Fee: ₹7,200 (€80)
  • VFS Logistics Fee: ₹1,928

Starting June 11, 2024, the visa fee will increase to approximately ₹8,200 (€90).

Applicants below 12 years:

  • Visa Fee: No charge

Please be aware that these Croatia visa fees for Indians are non-refundable and can vary due to factors such as foreign exchange rates and additional services like courier and SMS notifications. Payment of fees is only accepted in cash.

When applying for a Croatia visa, knowing what could potentially lead to denial is crucial for strengthening your application and boosting the likelihood of getting approved. Here are some important considerations:

  • Lack of Proper Documentation: All Croatia visit visa or tourist visa documents you submit must be authentic, complete, and satisfactory. Submitting incorrect or misleading information can cause your application to be rejected immediately and may lead to potential bans on future applications.
  • Lack of Funds: Inadequate proof of financial stability and inability to cover the cost of your stay can lead to rejection. A recommended bank balance is ₹ 3,00,000 per applicant.
  • Weak Ties to Home Country : Croatia authorities may question your intentions to return to India, if you cannot demonstrate strong ties, such as family, property, or employment in India, and, hence, may reject your visa application.
  • Questionable Travel Record: A history of overstaying visas in other countries could be seen as a red flag, suggesting a risk of not adhering to Croatia’s visa regulations.

Intentions Under Scrutiny: Not being able to convincingly explain the reason for your visit and its consistency with your planned activities might arouse suspicion. For example, expressing plans to work on a visa that doesn't allow employment could result in denial.

Any change in travel plan, cancellation / change of accommodations etc. after submission of application will lead to delay in processing of application. Similar changes after issuance of visa (if approved) for the Republic of Croatia might lead to revocation of visa.

From choosing the right visa type to gathering all the necessary documents and understanding the fees involved, each step is crucial. By following the outlined steps and preparing meticulously, you can enhance your chances of a smooth process and enjoy your upcoming travels to Croatia.

Remember, the journey to a fascinating destination like Croatia begins with a successful visa application, so take the time to do it right.

Safe travels!

No, Croatia does not offer a Visa on Arrival for Indian passport holders. Indians must apply for a visa before their travel at the nearest Croatian embassy or consulate.

Yes, obtaining travel insurance is necessary when applying for a Croatian visa. The insurance should cover any potential medical expenses during your stay in Croatia.

No, there are no visa exemptions for Indian citizens travelling to Croatia. All Indian passport holders need a valid Croatian visa or a multi-entry Schengen visa to enter Croatia.

If your Croatian visa application is denied, you will receive a reason for the denial from the consulate. You can address these reasons in a new application or appeal the decision by providing additional documentation as specified by the consulate.

While Croatia allows travellers with a valid multi-entry Schengen visa to enter, it's important to note that a Croatian visa and a Schengen visa are not the same. Croatia is not a part of the Schengen Area, so its visa is specific to Croatia and does not grant access to the Schengen zone. Conversely, a Schengen visa allows travel within the Schengen Area but is also accepted by Croatia under certain conditions. If your main destination is Croatia, you should apply for a Croatian visa, not a Schengen visa, unless you plan to visit multiple Schengen countries during the same trip with Croatia as a secondary destination.

This move has substantially reduced bureaucratic hurdles for these visitors, allowing them to traverse borders with ease.

In the following guide, we unravel Croatia’s entry requirements , providing essential insights into the visa necessities. Whether you’re curious about whether you’ll need a visa, seeking guidance on obtaining one, or contemplating the prospects of a working holiday , our comprehensive exploration of Croatia’s entry stipulations equips you with all the information you need for a memorable and stress-free journey.

What you will find in this guide to Croatia Visa:

Croatia Visa Requirements

Croatia , with its stunning coastline and rich history, is a magnet for travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural exploration. But before you pack your bags and head to this Adriatic gem, it’s essential to understand the visa requirements that apply to your nationality.

EU Citizens and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Members

If you’re an EU citizen , you’re in luck – no visa is required regardless of the duration of your stay. Moreover, an ID card is sufficient for entry, eliminating the need for a passport. The same convenient privilege extends to members of the EFTA , which includes countries like Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. If you belong to this group, you can embark on your Croatian adventure hassle-free.

Visa-Exempt Visitors

Croatia warmly welcomes citizens of various nations, permitting stays of up to 90 days without a visa . This favorable policy encompasses a wide range of European countries, such as the UK, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Bosnia, and North Macedonia. Beyond the European borders, visitors from Canada, the US, most of Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and select Asian countries (like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan) can also explore Croatia without the need for a visa.

Non-EU and Non-EFTA Travelers

Travelers from non-EU and non-EFTA countries should ensure their passport is valid for at least three months beyond their intended departure date from Croatia. Your passport should also be no more than ten years old. This requirement applies to citizens of countries not covered by the aforementioned visa-exempt categories.

Additional Considerations

For those eager to hit the Croatian roads, bringing in a vehicle is possible, subject to satisfying the necessary paperwork (mainly: owner’s authorization, valid insurance, car papers, valid driving license and safety equipment such as warning triangle, spare lights and so on). It’s worth noting that regulations align with typical EU standards when it comes to bringing animal products into the country.

In conclusion, the Croatian visa landscape is notably welcoming for a wide array of travelers. While EU citizens and EFTA members enjoy the most lenient entry conditions, numerous nationalities can relish a visa-free sojourn for up to 90 days.

Applying for a Croatian Tourist Visa: A Practical Guide

It’s essential to note that not all nationalities can breeze into the country without a visa. If you hail from countries like China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Turkey, or South Africa, among others, you’ll need to secure a Croatian Tourist Visa before setting foot on this mesmerizing land. Here’s a streamlined rundown on how to navigate this process without unnecessary fuss.

To get the lowdown on whether your nationality requires a visa , consult Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs website. With a user-friendly drop-down menu, you can swiftly locate your country and delve into the specific prerequisites.

Once you’ve confirmed your visa requirement , the website is your go-to resource for tailored details and embassy particulars. Conveniently, many of these pages seamlessly link to the relevant VFS Visa Application Centre , where the nuts and bolts of the application procedure await. For clarity on the financial front, bear in mind that visa fees typically clock in at €80, plus applicable charges for applicants aged 12 and above. Meanwhile, young travelers aged six to twelve incur a €40 fee, while the youngest globetrotters, those under six, catch a break with no charges.

The journey to your Croatia Visa commences online, where applications for tourist or business visas , both valid for a generous 90 days , kick off. However, brace yourself for the possibility of presenting your application in person at an embassy , consulate, or VFS Visa Application Centre. It is advisable to start the application between 3 and 1 month before departure.

It’s crucial to highlight that while there might be tales of obtaining visas at the border (in extraordinary or emergency situations), such instances are as rare as they come. In most cases, it’s a gamble that could leave you facing the disappointment of denied entry. The wise traveler does well to channel their energies into securing the visa through the designated channels.

Extending a Croatian Visa: What You Need to Know

For travelers seeking to prolong their stay in Croatia , understanding the visa extension process is crucial. EU and EFTA citizens, along with Swiss nationals, enjoy the flexibility of unrestricted stays , while visitors from other nations, whether under visa-free arrangements, tourist or business visas , are limited to a 90-day sojourn within a 180-day timeframe . However, exceptions do exist.

In cases of serious and justified needs, there is a provision for extending visas . This allows individuals facing compelling circumstances to extend their stay and navigate unexpected challenges with greater ease. For those considering longer stays for purposes such as seasonal employment or educational pursuits, Croatia offers potential avenues. Engaging in seasonal work or pursuing studies within the country might grant you an extended stay beyond the usual limits.

Furthermore, individuals with intentions of settling in Croatia permanently have the option to apply for residency. This pathway is particularly relevant for foreign workers who envision making Croatia their long-term home.

Can I Work in Croatia?

If you’re an EU or EFTA member, or a Swiss national, the doors to working in Croatia are open to you.

For non-EU individuals aspiring to work in Croatia, there’s a pathway, albeit with certain requirements. Your employer’s backing and alignment with the Croatian Employment Service’s criteria are essential. This demonstrates that you’re addressing a specific need within the Croatian job market. Highly skilled workers planning to settle in Croatia might find eligibility for the EU Blue Card , streamlining their employment prospects.

Croatia , a thriving member of the EU with robust economic growth, presents an enticing destination for both businesses and professionals. Working in Croatia necessitates an understanding of the work visa process and failure to secure appropriate visas might lead to penalties or operational setbacks stemming from non-compliance.

For those intending to work here, obtaining both a work permit and a residency permit is requisite. European citizens find advantage due to Croatia’s EU membership, enjoying the freedom to work and reside sans a visa. Non-EU employees must acquire a work permit through the local Croatian diplomatic mission. For sectors like catering, agriculture, forestry and tourism that rely on seasonal labor, a job offer may suffice for a 90-day stay, showcasing a relaxed stance.

The recently enacted Foreigners Act governs the engagement of non-EU citizens in Croatia. Employers must liaise with the Croatian Employment Service for a labor market assessment. If no suitable domestic candidates emerge, employers can proceed with a work and residence permit application for foreign workers. While most work and residence permits extend up to 12 months, the option to prolong before expiration exists, especially if ongoing employment is imperative.

Croatia’s affiliation with the EU Blue Card network is beneficial, as it grants third-country nationals a two-year validity period. EU Blue Card holders can bring their family along , encompassing spouses, children, and dependents. Regular work and residence visa holders must initiate a separate process for their families via local consulates. The application entails valid travel documents , relationship proof, financial sustenance evidence , and comprehensive health insurance coverage .

Croatia Digital Nomad Visa

Digital nomads operating independently or under a foreign banner might secure a year-long stay, given they meet stipulated criteria. The Croatia Digital Nomad Visa offers an exciting opportunity for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens seeking to combine work and leisure in a stunning mediterranean setting. As a digital nomad, you can engage in remote employment or run your own business through digital means , all while enjoying Croatia’s picturesque landscapes and rich culture.

With a temporary stay of up to a year , the visa caters to those eager to experience Croatia’s charms without a long-term commitment. It’s important to note that the stay cannot be extended beyond the initial period. However, if you’re already enchanted by the Adriatic allure, you can reapply for another digital nomad visa just six months after your previous one expires.

If you’re considering a more family-oriented adventure, close family members of a digital nomad can also join the journey. This extends to partners in common law marriages , provided they’ve been together for at least three years for childless couples, and a shorter period if they share a child. Sufficient evidence, such as joint agreements, witness statements, and other documentation, must be presented to establish the longevity of the relationship.

Countries that do not require a visa to visit Croatia

Croatia has forged visa waiver agreements that allow citizens from approximately 95 countries to explore its breathtaking landscapes, charming towns, and historical sites for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period . The visa exemption applies to purposes ranging from leisurely tourism and transit to business endeavors and medical visits.

The simplified entry process offers a hassle-free experience, particularly for citizens of EU and EFTA countries, who benefit from the privilege of freedom of movement into Croatia. For extra-EU citizens a valid passport with a minimum of three months validity from the date of arrival is required. For explorers harboring dreams of extended Croatian sojourns or intentions beyond the scope of visa-free allowances, the path forward involves securing a Croatian embassy visa from their nearest diplomatic outpost.

The comprehensive list of nations enjoying visa-free status in Croatia is as follows:

Available visas for entry into Croatia: Guide for 2024

Tourists in Zagreb, Croatia

UPDATED: 25.1.2023.

When entering Croatia as a non-resident, some nationalities can enter without a visa, and some nationalities require a visa. For those that require a visa to enter Croatia, it must be obtained abroad before entry. Croatia does not have a visa-on-arrival program.

If you’re unsure if a visa is required for you to enter Croatia, you can check the latest rules for your nationality here . Depending on the purpose of your stay in Croatia, the type of visa may vary.

As of 1 January 2023, Croatia is a member of Schengen and applies the Schengen acquis. The validity of a visa depends on the circumstances of the travel, but it can’t be longer than 5 years.

The time spent in Croatia is added to the time spent in other Schengen member states. Third-country nationals may stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days in any 180-days period regardless of whether they are required a visa or not.

This post is strictly for third-country citizens who require a visa to enter Croatia. If you are interested in a long-term residence permit, find those options here .

In this post, we cover:

  • What is a visa

Types of Croatian visas

  • Who is exempt from Croatian visa
  • How to apply for Croatian short-stay visa
  • How to apply for Croatian long-stay visa
  • Penalties for overstaying tourist visa

The facts are these…

What is a Croatian visa?

In Croatia, a visa serves as permission for:

  • Intended stay in Croatia for up to 90 days in a period of 180 days
  • Transit through Croatia for up to 90 days in a period of 180 days
  • Transit through the international transit area of airports in Croatia

The approved visa will be added to a valid travel document. If using a passport, a sticker will be placed on one of the pages. In exceptional cases, due to humanitarian reasons or national interest, or if a passport isn’t valid, a visa is issued on paper.

A visa is NOT the same as a residence permit. A residence permit is strictly for a long-term stay past 30 to 90 days, depending on the term of your entry visa.

[Read: Difference between getting a visa and a residence permit in Croatia ; Types of residence permits ]

Croatia issues the following types of visas:

  • A visa – air-transit visa
  • C visa – short-stay visa

1. Air-transit visa – A visa

An air-transit visa (A visa) is called zrakoplovno-tranzitna viza or viza A  in Croatian.

The A visa is issued to third-country citizens for one or more passes through the international transit area of an airport in Croatia.

Foreigners who don’t leave the international transit area or plane during their intermediate landings at the airport in Croatia usually don’t need a visa. However, citizens of certain countries are required to possess an A visa.

The validity period of an A visa is up to 6 months plus an additional period of 15 days.

2. Short-stay visa – C visa

A short-stay visa (C visa) is called kratkotrajna viza or viza C  in Croatian.

A C visa is issued for a planned stay on the national territory of Schengen members for a duration not exceeding 90 days in any period of 180 days.

C visa is issued for one, two, or more entries into Croatia for the purpose of:

  • Tourist stay
  • Business stay
  • Personal stay
  • Other stays

You can calculate the permitted number of days of stay in Schengen here and here .

The validity period of a C visa is up to 5 years. It depends on the circumstances of your travel to Croatia. The validity period includes an additional period of 15 days.

3. Long-stay visa – D visa

A long-stay visa (D visa) is called dugotrajna viza or viza D  in Croatian.

If you are a third-country citizen who was granted a temporary stay or a work permit before arriving in Croatia and you need a short-term visa to enter Croatia, you will get a D visa. It is issued for one or more entries into Croatia.

The validity period of a D visa is up to 6 months. The start date of the validity period cannot be earlier than the start date of the validity period of a granted temporary stay or work permit. D visa allows you to stay in Croatia for up to 30 days.

Third-country citizens who don’t need a Croatian visa

Visa-free travel.

Some third-country nationalities can travel visa-free to Croatia, regardless of their purpose of travel. Examples of countries that can travel visa-free to Croatia include:

  • European Union member states
  • United States

However, some nationalities require a visa to enter Croatia. Examples are:

  • Philippines
  • South Africa

If you’re unsure if a visa is required for your nationality, check the latest rules here .

Exemptions from Croatian visa

Some third-country citizens with certain documents issued by another Schengen member state are exempt from getting a Croatian visa, even if their nationality requires a visa to enter Croatia.

Valid documents include:

  • Unique visa (C visa) valid for the territory of all Schengen member states for two or more entries
  • Visas with limited territorial validity (LTV visa) in certain Schengen member states (but not all Schengen states) for two or more entries
  • Long-term visas (D visa) for a stay longer than 90 days, issued by a Schengen member state
  • Residence permits issued by one of the Schengen member states

Foreigners who possess one of the above-mentioned documents don’t need a Croatian visa for a stay that does not exceed 90 days in any 180-day period. Essentially, these documents serve as an equivalent to a Croatian visa. Their validity period must cover the duration of transit or stay in Croatia.

Third-country citizens with visas and residence permits from Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Romania must now have a valid Schengen visa (C visa) or Croatian national visa (D visa) to enter Croatia.

Family members of EU/EEA citizens

If you are a third-country citizen who requires a visa to enter Croatia AND a family member of a citizen of an EU/EEA member state, you can get a visa at the Croatian border or the border of another EU/EEA member state.

At the border, you must show:

  • Wedding certificate
  • Birth certificate
  • For example, proof that the EU/EEA citizen lives in the country you are trying to enter

Croatia visa policy.

The Croatia visa policy outlines the regulations you must adhere to if you plan to travel to Croatia in the near future. It defines which nationalities can enter the country without a visa and which countries require a specific visa procedure.

Croatia is a member of the European Union, and consequently, it follows the visa policy of other EU countries. It's important to note that Croatia is not yet part of the Schengen zone, despite applying for membership in 2015, as a definitive decision is still pending.

For certain nationalities, there are visa-exempt agreements in place with Croatia, allowing them to enter the country freely. In such cases, a valid passport with a minimum of three months' validity is sufficient for entry.

However, if your nationality doesn't enjoy this visa-exempt privilege, you will likely need to apply for a visa through the Croatian embassy or consulate. This requirement applies regardless of the purpose or duration of your intended stay. The Croatia visa policy emphasizes the necessity of gathering all the required documents before scheduling an appointment at the nearest Croatian embassy.

For tourists coming from an EU member state, the freedom of movement allows entry into Croatia with just an EU passport, making the process hassle-free.

For non-EU nationals, there is a possibility of a short-stay visa exemption if their country has a specific agreement with Croatia. Typically, Croatian authorities grant a 90-day stay within a 180-day period for nationals of about 90 countries with such arrangements. For example, residents of Bulgaria, Romania, and Cyprus can enjoy this benefit.

Any other nationality not covered by these agreements must apply for a consular visa through the Croatian embassy or consulate, following the prescribed documentation process.

  • Croatia ETIAS

Croatia, known for its stunning coasts and idyllic islands, is becoming a popular holiday destination for people all over the world. Non-EU nationals intending to travel to Croatia from 2024 onwards will need to register with the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System). This electronic visa waiver scheme, which was implemented to improve border security, will also be available to travelers visiting other member states of the European Union.

The main goal of the Croatia ETIAS is to provide EU member states more security and protection. ETIAS aspires to handle these issues with a cutting-edge system in light of the expanding number of individuals entering the EU, the surge in refugees and asylum seekers brought on by global crises, and the ongoing danger of terrorist acts.

ETIAS' introduction adds a step to the travel procedure for non-EU citizens, but its ultimate goal is to increase efficiency for all visitors. The computerized database enables speedier customs processing, lowering wait times at border crossings, by connecting the information of accepted applicants to their passports.

The procedure of applying for ETIAS is simple, and the majority of applicants get a response shortly after submitting their application. The need for further applications during that time period is removed by the ETIAS authorization's minimum three-year validity period after approval.

It is important to note that Croatia, as a member of the European Union and the Schengen Area since 2023, requires an approved ETIAS for visitors. An ETIAS is also required for travel to other Schengen Area states if your itinerary includes them.

Croatia is not as popular as many other European countries, but one to inf many don’t know is that the country is one of the most beautiful countries ever. The small EU country is located in Central Europe and borders the Mediterranean Sea, and some of the finest spots in the country are on the sea coast. Every year, tourists looking to enjoy a nice warm holiday visit places like Dubrovnik at certain times of the year. Blessed with nice weather, great history, and two seasons, this is the perfect getaway for those looking to blow off steam. If you would like to visit Croatia as a tourist, you need a Croatia tourist visa.

Who Needs To Apply For A Croatia Tourist Visa?

The visa is for those who are not from visa-exempt countries. Croatia grants visa waivers to citizens of member EU states, so they don’t need a visa to enter the country. Then there are citizens from countries who can stay for up to 90 days without a visa but must secure one if they wish to stay for much longer.

Croatia is a member of the EU and, as such, has a very similar visa policy to countries of other EU states. Travelers who don’t need a visa must have a passport that is valid for at least three months, but others who require a visa must present a passport with nothing less than 6 months of validity.

What Can I Do With A Tourist Visa?

A tourist visa is solely for tourist visas. It is not for a long stay but for short ones. Travelers are advised not to apply for this visa if their intention is to visit for family reunification, work, study, or any other purpose that will keep them inside Croatia for a long time. A tourist visa allows you to travel to any part of Croatia to enjoy the pleasant weather and visit famous landmarks and heritage sites, among others, as long as your visa remains valid.

You can also use a tourist visa for short-term business trips and medical treatments at any Croatian medical facility. The visa is valid for 180 days and allows the holder to stay in the country for a maximum period of 90 days.

Types Of Croatian Tourist Visas

Three types of tourist visas dictate the number of times you can enter the country.

Single Entry Visa: A Single entry visa is designed for one use only. You can enter Croatia only once with it, after which it expires and cannot be reused again even if you leave the country several days or weeks before it expires.

Double Entry Visa: The double entry visa allows the holder to enter, exit, and re-enter Croatia a second time within the validity period. This one does not expire the first time you exit as long as it remains valid.

Multiple Entry Visa: The third one is the multiple entry visa and is the preferred option for those who wish to enter and exit the country several times. If you plan to visit for short stays multiple times, this option will save you the stress and resources of applying for a new Croatian visa each time you wish to visit Croatia.

Note: The Tourist Visa of Croatia is similar to the Schengen countries even though it is not a Schengen member yet.

Croatia Tourist Visa Requirements

You must submit several documents alongside the visa application form when applying for a Croatian tourist visa. We review the visa application process below.

Completed Croatian visa Application Form: The applicant must complete the visa application form with their details. Minors are not qualified to fill out the form independently, so their parents or legal guardians must fill and sign it on their behalf. Applicants must ensure that they only provide valid information.

Passport: A valid passport is an important document. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the date the applicant plans to enter the country. The passport must also contain at least one blank visa page for Croatia visa stamps. All passport pages must be scanned and uploaded on the application form.

Pictures: Two recent passport-size colored photographs must be uploaded. The photos must be clear, uploaded in 35mmx45mm, and taken on a white background. Applicants must stand at the center of the images and not wear any headgear or glasses that may distort or cover any section of their faces.

Croatia may not be in Western Europe, but it is a highly developed and Industrialized nation with a high income economy. This has made it a perfect destination for those looking for thriving opportunities in economies that are not as competitive as other Western EU countries. As the nation continues to evolve and diversify, the opportunities available to foreign investors continue to grow. This is why a Croatia business visa is one of the most sought-after visas in Europe today.

Who Is A Croatia Business Visa For?

The business visa is for a business person with investments in Croatia or those who have plans to invest in the economy. First time investors are encouraged to visit the country as long as they can meet the requirements to obtain a visa.

What Can I Use A Business Visa For?

The business visa can be used to attend conferences and business meetings, visit partners and suppliers, run quick errands, and to even invest in fresh opportunities, among other things. This visa comes with many benefits, which is why it is highly sought after. One of the top benefits of this visa is that it allows the user to qualify for temporary residency in a few years.

Croatia Business Visa Validity

The Croatia business visa is valid for 90 days or 180 days, depending on the one you apply for; however, it can be extended for a period of 90 days or more, but this will be at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Applicants are advised to apply for an extension if they wish to at least 7 days before their current visa expires.

You Cannot Work With This Visa?

The government of Croatia operates very strict immigration like other countries in the European Union and their policy and sanctions violators. This business visa is not a work visa, so holders are not allowed to work with it during their stay in the country. Engaging in any activity that will get you paid is a crime that attracts severe sanctions. If you want to work in Croatia, you need to visit the Croatian embassy in your home country to apply for a work visa in person.

Croatia Business Visa Requirements

All applicants for the business visa must submit the following.

Application Form: A duly completed visa application form with accurate details filled in their appropriate fields. This visa is not for minors as they do not qualify for it.

Health Insurance: Proof of health insurance coverage for the applicant to the tune of €30,000 in case they fall ill or sustain injuries from an accident during their stay in the country.

Proof of Accommodation: They must provide proof of accommodation. A copy of their hotel reservation will suffice.

Proof of Return Ticket: Return flight ticket to their home country at the end of their visit.

Proof of funds: A bank statement covering the last three months with sufficient balance to cover their living and travel expenses.

Letter from Employer: If the applicant is a staff of a company, they must present a signed letter by their employer stating their position, salary, and the purpose for the trip

Besides the following additional documents are required for the application
