Charli and Dixie D'Amelio Launch Their Own Clothing Line for Hollister Co.

"We can't wait to put our vision out into the world," Charli says about the new line, Social Tourist, she designed with sister Dixie

Charli and Dixie D'Amelio aren't slowing down anytime soon.

TikTok's most famous sisters announced on Thursday that the next chapter of their successful Hollister Co. partnership will be a standalone apparel brand under Abercrombie & Fitch Co. called Social Tourist.

Launching May 20 in Hollister stores and online at hollister.com , the line is inspired by social media and Charli and Dixie's life in the spotlight. The TikTokers — who, together, boast over 150 million followers on the video sharing platform — were instrumental in developing Social Tourist, leading everything from product selection, design and branding, to positioning and marketing.

They'll also get a little help from their dad, Marc D'Amelio, who has worked in sales and design and will act as a consultant for the line.

"We've always loved fashion, and it's been amazing to be so involved in this process," Dixie, 19, said in a statement. "We feel like Social Tourist really represents both of us and explores how our generation is balancing who they are on social media with real life."

Charli, 17, shared that the first product drop will focus on "introducing the brand" to their millions of fans and followers, whereas the second collection (launching in June) will reflect the sister's individual personalities.

"Designs that reflect Dixie's personality are a bit edgier, with dark color palettes and patterns," the star explained. "My vibe is shown through super feminine and cute styles. We can't wait to put our vision out into the world!"

Both sisters posted a Social Tourist teaser video on Instagram Thursday morning, in which they're sporting black and white sweatpants sets embossed with the brand's logo. "When it comes to this whole life thing, the journey is the destination," Charli says in the clip.

"Hey, that's where we come in," they say in unison. "Let's unpack this life together."

The line — which will have new drops every month— will feature a few different categories, including swim, everyday essentials, trend-driven designs and gender inclusive items.

Back in June 2020, Charli and Dixie were named the faces of Hollister's Jean Lab . The unique partnership involved testing denim for a flattering fit and ultimate comfort with a little help from fellow Internet sensation Noah Pugliano and famed scientist Bill Nye .

"We hope that we can send the message that we can and should all feel comfortable in our own skin," the sisters told PEOPLE at the time. "Jeans are such a personal clothing item and sometimes it's hard to find the fit you feel best in, but they are also a wardrobe staple, so working together to ensure there was a fit for everyone was really important to us."

Charli and Dixie D'Amelio launch teen-forward brand, Social Tourist.

Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are launching Social Tourist, a new trend-forward apparel standalone brand within the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. portfolio. The lifestyle brand creates trend-forward apparel that allows teens to experiment with their style while exploring the duality of who the D’Amelio’s are on social media and in real life. Social Tourist will be available exclusively in Hollister stores and online . The sisters worked with Hollister on product selection, design, branding, positioning, and marketing alongside their father, Marc D’Amelio. Social Tourist became a family affair intersecting Marc’s longtime expertise in the apparel space with the girl’s unique lens of being at the epicenter of social media for Gen-Z. With over 250 million Tik Tok followers, the D’Amelio’s first worked with Hollister as “Chief Jeanealogists,” where they tested and approved every aspect of Hollister’s denim; launched the #MoreHappyDenimDance TikTok challenge, which garnered over 5.4 billion views worldwide; and dropped a series of limited-edition, co-created collections. So when it came time to bring Social Tourist to life, partnering with the Hollister team was a natural fit.

“We would all sit down as a family brainstorming with the Hollister team on Social Tourist. For a lot of other kids our age, that’s also what we do no matter if you’re an influencer, content creator, or you’re just in high school. Everyone uses social media, but at the same time, it’s like, who really knows how to do it? We’re all tourists in our own way,” explained Charli on how the name Social Tourist came about. “Being a social tourist can really bring everyone together to really interact with other people online. You’re able to use your own social media to portray yourself in whatever light you want other “social tourists” want to see you in.” Dixie added the versatility that Social Tourist brings to the Gen-Z consumer. “I just want people to be able to wear comfortable clothes and be cute while not having to think about it. I feel like I’m always looking for one place that I can buy my entire wardrobe because I can’t find pieces here and there. This is where you can get all the basics and some cute add-ins to your closet.”

Both Charli and Dixie learned about the apparel and clothing industry by watching their father work in the industry when they were younger. Marc would take Charli and Dixie to his New York office as they would watch him in design meetings, interacting with buyers and closing sales calls. “We would sit and watch our dad design clothes and on putting things together on photoshop for hours. I was just so interested in it, and that’s what I wanted to go to college for.  I worked at a clothing store in high school and  I loved being around clothes. So creating a brand has always been something I’ve wanted to do,” Dixie shared. Charli also was inspired by her father’s career and also learned how to sew from her grandmother, “Besides being obviously inspired by my dad because he was in the clothing business, dance has been a big part of my life. I remember going to competitions seeing everyone in their custom pieces and my grandmother taught me to sew so I’ve always been fascinated by making clothes that people can feel confident in. I just want everyone to be able to step out of the house in Social Tourist feeling the best they ever been.”

As the consultant for social tourist, Marc D’Amelio, having over 30 years of experience in sales and design, found it to be a great experience to work together as a family with the Hollister team to bring all of their talents under one roof with Social Tourist. “What I learned through this process is that, although Dixie and Charli were not clothing designers, they definitely had a viewpoint that was well-received. Hollister looks at it like, what do you guys think about this, and they listen. When Dixie and Charli talk, they really listen and Hollister wasn’t just a big company trying to take advantage of the fact that Dixie and Charli had a huge platform, this is a true partnership and a true collaboration. I don’t just want to create things for the sake of commerce, I love the fact that we’re creating something that will hopefully have an impact,” Marc stated.

Social Tourist will have four distinct apparel lines: dual-gender items, trend pieces such as dresses and skirts, everyday essentials featuring premium basics, and swim. Each collection will include limited-edition items, with new products dropping approximately every four weeks. “We’ve always loved fashion, and it’s been amazing to be so involved in this process. Dixie And Charli D’Amelio’s Social Tourist Holiday Collection Is So Damn Good

These first-look photos got me feeling festive.

You don’t need to only stick to sequin heels, velvet dresses, and glittery blazers at your end-of-year shindigs come December. Just ask Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, the TikTok superstars determined to redefine holiday dressing in 2021. In May, the sisters collaborated for the official launch of Social Tourist, their cute and comfy fashion brand in partnership with Hollister Co. While I wanted every single piece in the bomb lineup , a bigger and more joyful update has arrived: Social Tourist will launch its first-ever holiday collection this October. And judging from the official first-look photos, Charli and Dixie just changed the game when it comes to holiday season style.

Called “Diaries of a Holiday Tour,” Social Tourist’s debut 2021 holiday collection will be released across three volumes (aka scheduled drops). The first? Available on Oct. 29, “ Diaries of a Holiday Tour: The Pre-Show, ” is inspired by all things music ( hello, Dixie’s new single ), plus the super cool outfits you’d wear to a concert. “When we met with the designers, we wanted to focus this drop on something we’re both so passionate about: music,” Dixie tells Elite Daily. Specifically, “The Pre-Show” pieces reflect the badass mod and punk music scene of 1960s London, where stripes, checkers, newspaper print, and black-and-white patterns were quite the rage. If this isn’t a modern take on holiday fashion, well, then I don’t know what is.

“We’ve always attended shows with our family and our friends,” Dixie says. “Figuring out how to capture the excitement and energy around seeing live music again and thinking about the outfits we can’t wait to wear to the next show was our favorite part of the process.” As the campaign images show, it’s totally cool to wear leather skirts, animal print vests, high-waist jeans, and grungy, faux leather moto vests around the holidays. Do as Charli and Dixie did and add some heavy eyeliner, too. And if you’re already mapping out your 2021 holiday shopping plan, know this: the second and third volumes of the holiday collection, “The Headliner” and “The After-Party,” will be respectively released on Dec. 3 and Dec. 23.

So, how does the dynamic duo manage to make edgy style look so cool? They’ve got one key tip. “Being true to yourself and dressing in whatever way makes you most comfortable and confident is the best way for a trend to get attention and go viral,” Charli says. Of course, having fashionable siblings comes in handy. Charli adds, “We love trading clothes to experiment with new looks, and it’s one of the things we love most about our Social Tourist collection with Hollister — it’s a blend of both of our unique styles so we can easily trade and create our fave looks together.”

Like me, Charli and Dixie are pumped to dress a little differently this holiday season. But they’re also excited about the rituals that come with it. Dixie’s fave tradition? “Truly just being together with our family, and extended family,” Dixie says. “We go to Connecticut to spend time with our dad’s family, and Louisiana to spend time with our mom’s family. We have so many cousins that we get so excited to see around the holidays.” Charli says that despite not having that many go-to traditions, “we are always with family, and that’s my favorite part.”

And when the time comes for them to dress up for a holiday event (in Social Tourist, obvi), there’s only one holiday song they both agree permanently gets stuck in their heads: Liam Payne’s “Naughty List” collab with Dixie — because of course. Count me in for the sing-along party.

According to the brand’s announcement, “Social Tourist is the creative vision of Hollister, the teen brand liberating the spirit of an endless summer, and social media personalities Charli and Dixie D’Amelio. The lifestyle brand creates trend forward apparel that allows teens to experiment with their style, while exploring the duality of who they are both on social media and in real life.”

The Connecticut natives have successfully teamed up with the clothing brand in the past, and this is just the next step in their burgeoning business careers. Charli and Dixie, along with the help of their dad, Marc D’Amelio , are working hands-on with Hollister for the creation of Social Tourist. Marc, for his part, has long-term experience in the apparel industry.

“We’ve always loved fashion, and it’s been amazing to be so involved in this process,” Dixie said in a statement. “We feel like Social Tourist really represents both of us and explores how our generation is balancing who they are on social media with real life.”

The CEO of Abercombie & Fitch Co. (in which Hollister is a division of), Fran Horowitz , chatted with  WWD following the brand’s announcement. “I like to explain to the [A&F] team, you have something called the fashion pyramid. There’s things that are at the top of the pyramid that are a little bit more forward thinking and these girls really pushed that even more forward,” she told the publication. “They’re really leading when it comes to trend and fashion. And that’s what Social Tourist will do for us, really elevate it a little bit further. It will also be a little bit more expensive than Hollister.”

New products are set to drop “approximately every month” with special limited-edition items across categories including: “gender inclusive items, trend pieces such as dresses and skirts, everyday essentials featuring premium basics, and swim.” So, there will definitely be something for everyone!

Mark your calendars, because the first collection drops on May 20, 2021. An Instagram-exclusive limited edition collection will also released via the Social Tourist Instagram account on May 19, using the app’s checkout feature. Once these products are sold out, they’ll be gone forever!

Separate launches will be dropping about four weeks apart from each other. Along with more opportunities for limited edition Instagram collections from the girls.

“Our styles also change very frequently, so there’s always new pieces that we’re looking form,” Charli also told ET . “Whether it’s a flared leg or a low rise or a high rise, it’s always changing … with each of the drops, you can definitely really tell who chose what.”

In terms of features, I’m a big fan of pockets with the top prize reserved for hidden or zippered ones that allow you to keep your valuables close and under the radar. For shorter or asymmetric dresses, a built-in bodysuit or shorts are a lifesaver on active tours since you won’t have to spend half your time worrying about whether you’re sufficiently covered up.

Prioritize versatility

One of the great advantages of packing dresses for your summer trips is that they’re an outfit all by themselves (packing one dress is easier and takes up less space than packing separate tops and bottoms). But, to maximize versatility and ensure you don’t look the same in all your travel photos, it’s a good idea to choose dresses that can be accessorized to suit various occasions. 

I’m talking dresses that look as good with a jean jacket and sneakers as they do with heels and a formal wrap; and dresses that can be layered with a sweater or T-shirt to look like a skirt for a totally different vibe. D’Amelio also shared different pictures of her head-turning looks at the star-studded California festival from the previous days.

The “Dancing With the Stars” winner showed off her fit physique in a two-piece layered black and white bikini ( $98 for top , $88 for bottom ) set with a black sheer maxi skirt and added a gray headscarf, black Prada purse ($3,500) and the same chunky boots at the Celsius Cosmic Desert Event on Friday.

D’Amelio has previously attended the music festival in 2023 with her now ex-boyfriend, Landon Barker . The former couple were seen kissing and hanging out with his stepmom, Kourtney Kardashian , while dad Travis Barker performed with his band, Blink-182, last year.

While Landon was also in attendance this year, the pair did not appear to cross paths.

Landon announced in February that they had broken up after dating for more than a year.

“Hey everyone, I would like to let you guys know that Charli and I are no longer together. We broke up to focus on ourselves. We are still friends and have so much love for each other,” he wrote on his Instagram Story at the time.

D’Amelio and Barker began dating in June 2022 and even adopted a dog together just a few months before their split.

A woman suffered a tragic accident in Mexico that ended with her losing her life -- this while trying to capture a photo while a train passed ... which ended up hitting and killing her.

As documented in new harrowing footage that's making the rounds ... a 29-year-old woman in Hidalgo, Mexico recently approached a railway track to take a selfie as the CPKC's Final Spike Steam Tour train plowed ahead at full speed.

While the train blasted its horn near the gathering fans -- who came together to witness the train on its famous journey from Canada to Mexico City, a major attraction for locals -- the woman didn't move far enough out of the way ... and she was struck straight in the head.

The woman instantly fell forward and went limp, clearly unconscious ... with bystanders immediately rushing to her aid -- but unfortunately, the damage had been done.

Reports say first responders who arrived at the scene pronounced her dead. Her family was reportedly with her at the train track in Hidalgo.

CPKC has confirmed an investigation is underway, adding in a statement ... "We are deeply saddened by this loss of life and wish to express our condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones."

They add, "For their own safety and that of the crews, all spectators looking at any train must always remain at least 10 meters back from the train and the tracks. Spectators must never stand on railway tracks, try to board rail equipment or climb on rail infrastructure.

Finally, CPKC said ... "Always use caution around tracks and trains." A cautionary tale, indeed.

Video of Joe Biden Appearing to Freeze at Juneteenth Event Raises Questions

A video of President Joe Biden standing still during a Juneteenth event is garnering a lot of scrutiny on social media.

The footage, shared by the GOP governing body, the Republican National Committee (RNC), shows Biden standing still at the event while others around him, including Vice President Kamala Harris , dance to music playing.

The Context

The video was taken at an early Juneteenth holiday concert at the White House on Monday, which was attended by 1,700 people including singers Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle and rapper Doug E. Fresh.

In 2021, Biden signed a law that made June 19 a federal holiday to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The last slaves were freed in Texas on June 19, 1865.

"Black history is American history," Biden said in a speech at the event. "The day reminds us that we have a helluva lot more work to do," he continued. "Let's keep marching. Let's keep the faith."

Meanwhile, Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee for the presidential election, has long come under scrutiny for his physicality and behavior in public. The oldest person ever to be president , he faces accusations that he lacks the mental fitness for the position. Detractors have pointed to his verbal gaffes and frailty, such as stumbling on the steps of Air Force One, as evidence for his incapability.

What We Know

Writing on X, formerly Twitter , critics responded to the video of Biden at the Juneteenth event and slammed his apparent lack of engagement with the event.

Conservative internet personality Mike Sperrazza wrote: "We have our first total malfunction to his brain."

The account Libs of TikTok , which has over 3.1 million followers, said Biden was "looking lost, staring into space like a zombie."

Another account said: "He has no clue why he is there."

However, others suggested he may have chosen not to dance.

One account said: "I do not like or support Joe Biden, but this is the most relatable he has ever been. I cannot dance, and when surrounded with people who are dancing, I do exactly what he is doing here - freeze, smile and wait for it to end."

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said Biden didn't stop moving; he just didn't dance. In a statement to Newsweek , he added:

"It tracks that one of the most fact-checked groups in politics would falsely claim someone who never stops moving in a clip 'froze' because they simply weren't dancing. There are others in the video doing the same. We've been worried about the RNC ever since they attacked President Biden for petting a hero dog, for liking ice cream; and for respecting his wife. We hope they get the support they need."

What's Next?

Juneteenth celebrations will continue in the days leading up to the holiday.

With five months to go until November's presidential election , social media attacks on Biden and his Republican rival, Donald Trump , will likely continue until voters go to the polls.

Everyone Has the Same White Skirt Outfit Idea for Summer

What started at $15,000 on the runway has filtered down into an effortless formula for everyone.

Marie Claire fashion editor Lauren Tappan and Who What Wear editor Aniyah Morinia got dressed for the same weekend brunch in May with the exact same white skirt outfit idea unintentionally pinned to their mental mood boards. The look was so straightforward that it made sense both defaulted to it—anyone could wear it well: a black top (tubular in Tappan's case, one-shouldered in Morinia's) tucked into a flowing white maxi skirt.

When the pair met up, "It didn’t take us long to realize that we were practically in the same exact outfit, and we both immediately broke out in laughter," Tappan tells me. By the time they made it to their Washington Square brunch, they were seeing double and triple. A woman at a table near them was wearing a black T-shirt and white maxi shirt; so were a dozen other strangers milling around the park.

I've also noticed the same accidental copy-and-paste action happening on my "For You" page and out in the fashion wilds of New York City. Videos showing thousands of TikTok users how to style up a white maxi skirt almost always start with a black T-shirt; people put it into practice in the dozens with shopping options from the classic ( J.Crew and Gap) to the bohemian ( Dôen and Zimmermann). My phone screen transformed into a mirror when Milan-based creator Annie Tala Shova recently made a collage of women wearing summery white maxi skirts—almost entirely topped with a black tee or sweater, like the one I was wearing that same day to work.

Women around the world have put together white skirts and black tops in endless variations, from crewneck tees and slitted skirts, to cropped jackets and marshmallow-full skirts, (in Paris, left and center) to drop-waist, high-contrast dresses (in New York, right).

I reached out to Annie, who digitally collages trending pieces and runway collections, for some insight into the popular outfit formula. She confirmed white skirts are stealing the spotlight in the present, but their origins go a little further back—specifically, Prada's Fall/Winter 2023 collection. There, creative director Miuccia Prada took her somewhat humble office uniform and elevated it with skirts set in exquisite, dainty lace or covered in 3-D floral embellishments, plus understated neutral sweaters and contrasting jackets. (For what it's worth, the look was a self-reference to past Prada collections.)

Those same pieces retail for between $10,000 and $15,000 at the brand's boutiques, but they aren't the only way to tap in. All these months later, a Devils Wear Prada , cerulean monologue trickle-down effect is hard at work with the white skirt as the piece of the moment.

At designers of every price point and market of origin, white maxi skirts have a clean, understate appeal. "I've been loving the fresh, clean look they bring to any outfit," Annie says. "I've definitely embraced it in my own wardrobe—it's such a versatile piece!"

The same versatility applies to the outfit formula proliferating throughout street style. The high contrast of a black top and white skirt is crisp, striking, and requires all of 0.5 seconds of effort to put together. (Even fewer when the two are merged into a single dress, like Sofia Richie Grainge's at a recent fashion week.)

This is an outfit formula that isn't limited to a single body type, brand identity, or price point, even if its DNA is laced with a Milan Fashion Week pedigree. Black T-shirts and white skirts are stocked at hundreds of retailers this summer (and even more secondhand stores), at every point on the aesthetic spectrum.

It's minimal while leaving room for maximalists to add their own flair, and non-prescriptive in its range. That said, I've noticed factions specific to fashion subcultures. In corporate, midtown Manhattan near Marie Claire 's offices, black tees almost always cover the shoulders and skirts are set in heavier, less-transparent fabrics. Shapes and textures begin to skew more ethereal and casual downtown (and near college campuses like NYU). A TikTok came across my feed counting fans in white tiered maxi skirts at indie artist McAlpine's recent concert, casting the piece as a dress code requirement for introspective music lovers.

But unlike one-off viral item's like Zara's spotted dress or Realisation Par's leopard print skirt, there's no risk of feeling too much like anyone else in any of these settings—because there are infinite ways to put both pieces together.

"I think this look is quickly becoming a go-to summer uniform because simply put, it’s uncomplicated," Tappan says. "It’s a full-proof combination of capsule wardrobe pieces that look good together every time without fail."

So what if everyone has the same idea? Sometimes, great closets look alike.

Shop Summer's Big White Skirt Outfit Idea, Six Ways

The classic version.

By the time you finish reading this story, put down your phone or laptop, and go outside, I guarantee you'll see at least one person in a crewneck T-shirt or ribbed tank top and an unadorned, A-line white skirt. It's the most seamless and straightforward top-and-skirt pairing, which also means there's the most room to make it your own. It can lean demure and romantic with red ballet flats and a big, unmissable hair ribbon; it can swerve in a sporty direction with Adidas Sambas and a braided ponytail.

The Editor-Approved Version

As a fashion editor, I want summer work outfits that look appropriate for the office. I also want to feel comfortable and cool when I'm commuting in a balmy 85 degrees, like I was during the week I began working on this story. I found my middle ground in the form of a sleeveless black top and a solid poplin skirt. It's the same effortless colorblocking formula, with cuts that are more modest for hopping into a meeting or taking appointments. On the weekend, editors Lauren and Aniyah sub in a tube top or a one-shoulder tank in place of a heavier top for the same look.

The Modern Bohemian Version

Boho is undeniably back, but the revival doesn't require a Chloé runway budget. (And if you have it, all the power to you.) Some interpretations of summer's big white skirt outfit idea also fits the Laurel Canyon dress code. These look like a tiered skirt with semi-sheer lace or gauzy, crinkled fabric, plus a top with a little more going on than a basic crew neck. Ruffled sleeves, tie-neck collars, and more eyelet lace are all welcome.

The '90s Minimalist Version

Katie Holmes hasn't yet worn the black tee, white skirt combination yet. Given her swerve toward '90s slip dresses and baggy overalls for spring and summer, I can envision a similarly low-key take making its way into her seasonal wardrobe. A maxi skirt cut on the bias in linen, satin, or silk is perfectly aligned with a less-is-more styling philosophy, especially paired with an unequally-unfussy black tube top.

The One-and-Done Version

On days when the idea of even finding a separate T-shirt and skirt to pair feels like too much time wasted, go for a dress that picks out the proportions for you. In keeping with the rise of pre-styled clothes on runways from Fendi to Bottega to Miu Miu, some brands have done the not-so-hard work of combining a black bodice and white, flowy skirt into one garment. I've picked out three versions: two that are light and breezy for summer, and one long-sleeved take that can transition into fall. (Also, it was co-designed by Sofia Richie Grainge.)

The Loud Luxury Version

You're a graduate of Jennifer Lopez Street Style University with a major in It-items and a minor in logo recognition. Naturally, the version of the black shirt, white skirt combination belonging in your closet includes the Prada skirt that started the whole movement. It's exquisitely crafted from a romantic lace and has that tiny Prada triangle embellished at the hip. Wear it in any major fashion capital, and you'll get a nod of recognition from people who know what's up.
