The Prestige cuvée, a fresh and airy champagne, which offers a wide aromatic palette. The Les Folies de la Marquetterie cuvée is perhaps the one that is most attached to the Taittinger Champagne House, because it is made from vines planted around the Marquetterie estate, a castle belonging to the house. Finally, the house's prestigious cuvée is Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blancs un, 100% Chardonnay, which draws its strength and elegance from the exceptional terroir of the Côte des Blancs.

A visitor never thinks this is there final visit to Paris. With those things in mind, I recently made another trip to Paris and was not disappointed. I recommend using the Metro for getting around when you need to save time instead of walking. By all means, walk the city as much as you can and do not forget to make those ever so enjoyable bistro stops. Learn a few French phrases, to show that you care and you will be welcomed. • GastonWasabi 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Kevin Hayden introduced me to my camera's manual mode (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed) I hired Kevin Hayden for a photography walking tour of the Latin Quarter in Paris. My goal was to receive a practical introduction to manual mode (ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed) in a picturesque setting, and that goal was met. I took photos and did photo-exercises and received immediate, insightful feedback and suggestions for improvement. Kevin's coaching style is sincere, calm, positive and helpful. As we went from photogenic spot to photogenic spot, Kevin and I developed a rapport and understanding, and I experienced a confidence in him as a photographer. I asked if he would be interested in photographing me, as I don't have photos of myselfand I wanted mementos of my vacation in Paris. He quoted a fair price and we had the photo shoot a couple of days later. I am pleased with the photos he took of me. He helped bring out genuine photogenic expressiveness from me, and helped me minimize my flaws. After my vacation Kevin sent me high-resolution images from my photoshoot, and I am enjoying them. My expectations were met and I am satisfied with the photo tour and the photo shoot, and would hire Kevin Hayden again. Read more Written November 14, 2018

The experienced photographer was Vinicio who showed me some off-the-beaten path shots with some unique lighting that were simply amazing. It was perfect to work on exposure. I have some incredible photos as a result. Vinicio provided a tripod. He was very helpful and patient. As the streets of Venice are like a maze, it would have been difficult to shoot these particular venues on my own. I learned a lot technically. I highly recommend this tour. • NG_2007 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Very nice instructor - but this “experience” is a ripoff not worth the exorbitant price I want to say at the outset that our instructor was very sweet and helpful and I am sure as an employee, she doesn’t decide the price, so this review is not a criticism of her technique. We paid €460 for a 2.5 hour class for 3 people where we only made 1 type of dessert, which is not what we were expecting from the reviews and accompanying photos, which showed they made several different type of classic French desserts in a different and nicer looking venue. The kitchen was tiny, very hot, and quite basic. We got a glass of water at the end to drink with a slice of the pie while standing up at a Formica counter. For this price that’s pathetic. I have requested for the horse carriage to come to the hotel. On the proposal day, the horse carriage came on time. The horse driver was friendly. The proposal went smoothly with the help of the horseman putting the roses on the horse carriage which came as a sweet surprise for my fiancée. The photographer was there to take photos for us of the proposal. It was the sweetest moment. After I received the photos from Larry, there was one photo which my fiancée and I like very much but my fiancée face was partially covered. I requested another photo to be sent to us and Larry was kind enough to do so. Overall it's a wonderful experience. The only horse carriage in Paris. Read more Written July 22, 2017
  • Brian L 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Lack of mature customer support when missing appointment Had problems with Eurostar train thus missing the scheduled carriage ride/photographer. Notified actual carriage company Experience Paris few hrs prior to see anything can do. First response is sorry but nothing, and refuse to refund any fees(fine, my fault so understandable). Then ask whether the event can be rescheduled. No horse available in next few days. They said photographer is possible with extra €25 but after I got off Eurostar at 7pm to reply with time/CC info, no response till Monday morning. Now ask for €75 yet reply later cannot find any one. I am not happy with the lack of response (should let me know Saturday afternoon is the only time to reboot photograph; on Saturday their phone line always drop while I can make calls to others so using email is only option) and inconsistent price. When I email them back express intention to leave negative review the guy then replied with personal speculation "how I miss the train and my gf should review me based on it". Overall I feel they care more about money than customer satisfaction. Maybe their carriage is good but I could not try it. Think twice before you book. Taittinger Champagne Tours

Champagne Taittinger, one of the most esteemed names in the world of sparkling wines, has recently announced the reopening of its cellar tours, with an enhanced visitor experience. Taittinger has implemented several improvements, such as multimedia displays and updated tour paths that offer more in-depth information and interactive elements. These enhancements aim to educate visitors not only about Taittinger's methods and products but also about the broader history and culture of champagne.

Taittinger cellars

The Taittinger cellars beneath the city of Reims, are UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites. They are renowned for their extensive underground tunnels and chalk pits known as 'crayères' and originally dug out by the Romans dating from the second century.

The crayères were converted into wine cellars by medieval monks of the Saint-Nicaise monastery in the 13th century as they provided the perfect conditions for fermentation and aging, thanks to their constant temperature and minimal light exposure. Remains of the Abbey, destroyed during the French Revolution are still visible today throughout the tunnels.

The highlight for many, of course, is the tasting session, where guests can sample various Taittinger Champagnes, according on the tour selected: After a cellar visit you can select from the following options:

Hôtel des Comtes de Champagne

Hôtel des Comtes de Champagne in Reims is a testament to the rich historical tapestry of both the region and the Taittinger family itself. This prestigious establishment, is intricately linked with the history of Count Thibault IV, a medieval nobleman, famed crusader and poet. Count Thibault IV is celebrated for bringing back with him from the Crusades the first cuttings of the vine that would eventually produce the Pinot Noir grape, a crucial varietal for the Champagne region.

Chateau de la Marquetterie

Chateau de la Marquetterie is the 18th-century châteaux of the Taittinger family serving both as a retreat for the Taittinger family and a functional space for the cultivation of some of the grapes used in their champagne blends. The manor itself is steeped in history, echoing the centuries-old traditions of viticulture and wine production that are hallmarks of the Champagne region.

The ethos of blending tradition with innovation that is embodied by Taittinger's countryside manor finds a parallel across the ocean in California's Napa Valley at Domaine Carneros. Established in 1987, Domaine Carneros is a joint venture between Champagne Taittinger and the Kobrand Corporation. It was conceived as a venture to bring Taittinger’s style to the US, focusing on sparkling wines and pinot noir, which are reflective of the Taittinger heritage. This elegant château, set against the backdrop of Napa Valley’s rolling hills, serves not only as a winery but as a symbol of the fusion between French traditional winemaking methods and California’s climate and innovative spirit.

Much like the Taittinger estate in Champagne, Domaine Carneros places a strong emphasis on sustainable farming practices, showcasing a commitment to environmental stewardship alongside premium wine production.

Champagne Taittinger CEO’s Favorite Things

V italie Taittinger never intended to join the family business, Champagne Taittinger, the high-end maker in Reims, France. Rather, she gravitated toward her long lineage of women artists.

“I was more connected to art. I was an illustrator and created a small business,” Taittinger says.

In 2006, with the help of a local bank, her father, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, took a leap of faith and bought the Champagne house that he’d worked at for years. He wanted to preserve the legacy.

At 28 years old, with no industry experience, Vitalie left her own business behind and decided to join the family company in a marketing role. Nearly two decades later, Vitalie continues to work alongside her brother, Clovis Taittinger , and father and has played an integral role in propelling the business forward through projects such as refurbishing the Champagne caves, designing and opening a wine-focused restaurant, and creating a charitable foundation.

As a graduate of the Emile Cohl School of Art and Design in Lyon, Vitalie’s background in the arts and her entrepreneurial spirit continues to fuel her work.

“Everyday, I’m always thinking about how I can put emotion in the things we are doing,” Vitalie says. “I don’t focus on the business. We are telling a story. For me, the most important thing is to tell the story in the best way with a lot of emotion, beauty, and with a family spirit.”

In a male-dominated industry, Vitalie is one of the few women leading a Champagne house, however, she tries not to focus on it too much.

“I receive a lot of letters from women who are encouraged by the fact that I’m a woman who is the president of a company,” she says. “I feel lucky because this isn’t the same for everyone. We have some women who have to fight to get this kind of position.”

Champagne Taittinger recently started the ArsNova Foundation, a philanthropic arm that focuses on three main pillars: gastronomy, art, and music. The main goal of the fund is to give back to the community and make cultural experiences accessible to those who are less fortunate.

“We are here because we love what we are doing. This is much more than a job. This is an adventure and I love that,” she says.

Taittinger sat down with Penta to share her favorite things.

What most people don’t know about Champagne is… I suppose everybody knows that Champagne makes you feel happy. It makes you feel even more like yourself or free. But I think people often ignore the fact that you can keep some bottles in your cellar and enjoy them after years. Every year, we select the best grapes in the best crus to obtain this ability to last and develop with age. Aging these high-quality cuvées offers extra pleasure. I want people to know that Champagne is a true wine.

When are you the most inspired?… Probably during the night. During the day, I have so many things to do between meetings, lunches, and dinners. This is the time for action. At night, I get to think about current topics and questions with more perspective and maybe even use my imagination. In the mornings, I wake up early and start to rethink. I don’t know if the ideas are better, but the mornings are more difficult.

My favorite restaurants in Reims are… We are lucky enough to have some great restaurants with Michelin stars and little cafés. There is one I love particularly, which is named “La table des Halles.” They know how to prepare traditional French cuisine with very good products in a modern way. This is always delicious.

A hidden gem in France that most visitors don’t know about… The FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Fund). In France 40 years ago, the culture ministry decided that it was important to spread contemporary art throughout France. Since then, they have created 23 public art centers called FRAC, which have been working for almost a half-century collecting artworks from young artists from all over the world. Now, they have collections that are very relevant and organize creative exhibitions. This is one of the most beautiful things that France was able to imagine and put in place: sharing culture.

The designers I admire most are… I love the organic approach of French designers the Bouroullec brothers. I love the game between the shapes and colors and the fact that all pieces of work are timeless and very poetic once they are placed on site. I love their art because it doesn’t take up all the space and attention. It becomes part of a place very quietly.

My favorite artist whose work I collect is… I don’t collect pieces from one particular artist. I love the principle of collecting several artists that complete each other. This is like when you are writing. You need some ideas or words that are very strong and some other light ones. You want to shout, but you also need to whisper. For me, this is the same with artwork. I love the contrast between some of them, the difference in writing or the difference in intensity. I love Simon Hantaï, Charles Mossion, Alfred Courmes, and Hans Hartung.

The one destination I can travel to over and over again is… Italy. There is always something to discover about history, nature, a warm feeling and food, of course.

What’s the one thing in your wardrobe you can’t live without?… Jeans! I am a big fan of jeans.

A book that everyone should read is… Body and Soul by Frank Conroy. It is a very good book about the destiny of a pianist. It describes the will to stay focused on what your body and soul have chosen for you—to build your own freedom and life while following your heart and instincts. I love the precision of the description of thoughts and feelings.

Here, in the heart of Reims, the residence of the Comtes de Champagne was used for the coronation ceremonies of the kings of France. Many lords and artists were also hosted at the residence, which is now owned by Taittinger Champagne. It is a place full of history in beautiful surroundings. Thibaud IV is undoubtedly the most endearing figure of the counts of the Champagne dynasty. Secretly in love with his aunt, Blanche de Castille, mother of the future Saint Louis, he inspired the idea of courtly love. In 1239, he left for the Crusades and brought two treasures from the East that had never before been seen in the Christian world: the Damask rose and an example of a new grape variety, an ancestor of the Chardonnay grape. The beginning of the legend of Taittinger...
