Foreigners may be requested at the border entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina to present all the relevant documents on the basis of which a visa was issued.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

All applicants are required to complete an interview at the Embassy and submit the following documents:

• Valid passport of applicant 
• One passport size picture 35×45mm
• Visa Application Form (completed and signed) 
• Copy of a valid Residence permit for the State of Qatar (QID)
• Copy of round trip ticket or itinerary 
• Travel insurance – Mandatory standard insurance that covers the amount of 30,000 EUR OR 50,000 USD

In addition to the above, the following documents must be presented for:

Purpose of visit:

1. If visiting friends and/or relatives: 

• Invitation Letter from a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen or resident (or exceptionally a foreigner with a permit to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina one year or more) the applicant intends to visit, certified by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs

2. If traveling for business: 

• Letter from employer stating the purpose of the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, or 2. Invitation Letter from a company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, certified by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs. 

3. If travelling for sport contest:

• An Official invitation to international competition from national sport organization or Olympic Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

4. If travelling for judicial procedure:

• A court or the other official invitation for a judicial procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina

5. If travelling for education:

• Education admission certificate from Bosnia and Herzegovina Education Institution

6. If traveling as a tourist:

• Proof of paid tourist travel, including accommodation and transportation, or proof of organized travel or paid accommodation.

Visa type C consular fee is: 60 EUR

Visa D (long-term visa)

Long Term Visa (Visa D) is being issued with multiple entries. A Stay cannot exceed 180 days in the period of one year beginning from the day of the first entry. To obtain Visa D applicants are obligated to submit the Invitation Letter certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs :

1) For family reunification: Invitation Letter of a relative or a friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs

2) For work: Invitation Letter from the company in Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners’ Affairs; as well as work permit issued by relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina;

Visa type D consular fee is: 95 EUR

Australian and New Zealand passport holders DO NOT REQUIRE a visa for entry and a stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina of up to 90 days within a six month period.

Nationals of other countries can ascertain whether they require a visa on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina website at: www.mvp.gov.ba .

Nationals of countries for which a visa is otherwise required may, however, enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days provided that they hold a valid multiple entry Schengen or USA or EU state visa or a permanent residency permit in a Schengen or an EU state 

"(]) Citizens of the countries with whom Bosnia and Herzegovina has a visa regime, may enter Bosnia and Herzegovina with passport, without the obligation to obtain a visa for entry, exit, transit and stay on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina only if they have a valid multiple entry visa or residence permit issued by the signatory countries of the Schengen Agreement, the EU member states or the United States of America.

(2) A period of stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina in cases of this Article, is possible up to 90 days in any 180-day period, provided that the one continuous stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be longer than 30 days and within validity period of a visa or a residence permit issued by the countries referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article. " All foreigners, regardless of whether they require a visa, may be asked at the point of entry to demonstrate financial sufficiency during their intended stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina (75 EUR or the equivalent in convertible currency per day).

REGISTER YOUR ADDRESS OF RESIDENCE IN BIH!

- If an foreigner wishes to remain at the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina longer than three days (private accommodation), an foreigner or landlord with whom foreigner resides is obliged to register the address of his/her residence directly to competent organizational unit of the service or police within 48 hours from the moment of entry.

- If a foreigner uses accommodation such as (accommodation at legal entities - hotels, motels, lodgings, camps and similar), they are obliged to report an foreigner to competent organizational unit of service. The providers of accommodation while registration of residence/during his/her stay, must not confiscate and keep travel documents of foreigners. A foreigner should ask from them a certificate on registration of residence or bill on paid services.

- Foreigner is obliged to possess an evidence on registration of residence and to represent this evidence while leaving B&H, at the request of border police officer.

- In case that the landlord (private accommodation, hotel) or a foreigner fails to make registration at all, he/she shall be sanctioned for misdemeanour.

VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The Embassy has consular responsibility for Australia, the Comoros, Fiji, Kiribati, the Marshal Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Nationals of all other countries who wish to apply for a visa at this Embassy are required to provide evidence of approved residency in one of the above countries.

Visa applications must be lodged in person 3 to 30 days prior to departure, except for applications for a Long term visa (Visa D) which must be lodged in person 1 to 3 months prior to departure.

All applicants are required to complete an interview at the Embassy and submit the following documents:

Passport (valid at least 3 months following the visa expiry date);

A completed Visa Application Form (no corrections please);

One passport size photo;

Supporting documents (Provide certified, by a Justice of the Peace, copies of original documentation, unless otherwise stated);

Visa fee and mailing expenses (Money Order payable to Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina).

TYPES OF VISAS

Visa b - transit visa, visa c - short term visa, visa d - long term visa.

Transit Visa (Visa B) is issued for one or two (or exceptionally more) transits via Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territory. Total time during one transit cannot exceed five days . Visa B may be valid up to a maximum of six months.

Visa B supporting documents: 

• Documentation on which basis it can be reasonable to conclude a purpose for the transit through Bosnia and Herzegovina,
• Visas of the next transit country and destination country (If some visas are not required, then provide written evidence of visa exemption from the competent Embassy or Consulate).
• Means of transport.
• Evidence of sufficient funds (personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, taxation records or credit card limit) for accommodation and support during the transit, travel to third country, medical costs, etc.
• Documentation showing an incentive and authority to return to home country.

Short Term Visa (Visa C) is for single or multiple entries. Stay cannot exceed 90 days in the period of six months beginning from the day of the first entry. Visa C may be valid up to a maximum of one year, exceptionally more. Visa C is issued for trips related to business, education training, tourism, private affairs, politics, science, sport, religion or other purposes.

Visa C supporting documents:

• An original Letter of invitation from a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen or resident (or exceptionally a foreigner with a permit to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina one year or more, for family reunion purposes only), or an original Letter of invitation from a Bosnia and Herzegovina business partner or foreign business partner registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Local Ministry of Security’s Department for Foreigners in Bosnia and Herzegovina  must verify all Letters of invitation . A Letter must include a guarantee that all expenses of the invited person related to stay in and departure from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be covered; OR
• A Voucher of a travel agency (confirmation of paid accommodation, transport, medical/travel insurance) signed and stamped, hotel or other accommodation payment confirmation, etc.; OR
• An Official invitation to international competition from national sport organization or Olympic Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina; OR
• A court or the other official invitation for a judicial procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina; OR
• Education enrolment certificate from Bosnia and Herzegovina; OR
• Other appropriate documentation on the basis of which the purpose and conditions of intended stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be ascertained
• Appropriate documentation from Paragraph 1. (if used to satisfy that requirement); OR
• Proof of rent or property ownership in Bosnia and Herzegovina; OR

Exceptionally, an applicant can be exempt of this requirement if evidence of sufficient funds (personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, taxation records or credit card limit) for accommodation, support, travel, medical costs, etc., is provided.

• An original Letter of invitation from Paragraph 1 (if used to satisfy that requirement); OR
• Cash in convertible currency; OR
• Non-cash means of payment (travel cheques, credit cards, etc.) acceptable by Bosnia and Herzegovina banks (confirmation from a bank is required); OR
• Personal bank statements or pay slips; OR
• Confirmation of accommodation and organised travel; OR
• Other appropriate documentation on the basis of which it can be ascertained that sufficient funds are available.
• Return travel ticket; OR
• Proof of ownership of passenger motor vehicle (if used for the travel); OR
• Employment certificate, education enrolment certificate, or other document confirming social or professional status; OR
• Other documentation demonstrating an incentive and ability to return to home country.

Long Term Visa (Visa D) is for single or multiple entries. Stay cannot exceed 180 days in the period of one year beginning from the day of the first entry. Visa D may be valid up to maximum of one year, exceptionally more. To obtain Visa D applicants are obligated to submit the same documents as for Visa C, but the documents must demonstrate the need to stay longer than 90 days.

NOTE: 

Visa applicants are obligated to submit the requested personal and biometric data and other required information. The applicants are required to use the proscribed form, which must be completed correctly and in its entirety. 

The Embassy may request an applicant to submit evidence of real estate (property) ownership, or permanent income in the country of origin or the country of departure, or evidence of university attendance, or the like, as proof that the applicant will leave Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The Embassy may request additional clarification of the submitted documents and information. 

If an application is incomplete the applicants will be given 15 days to provide the missing information and/or documents. This will extend the time for the decision on a visa application. 

Visa application charges are not refundable.

IMPORTANT: 

Foreigners can be requested at the point of entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina to present all the relevant documents on the basis of which a visa was issued. 

A visa does not guarantee entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Following is the list of documents required for Bosnia And Herzegovina Visit visa for Indians.

A passport is a document that is required at the time of international travels. It is issued by the government of the country to verify the identity and nationality of the candidate.

The submitted passport must meet the parameters given below

• It must be original and genuine.
• It must be valid for 6 months ahead of the span of stay.
• It must have minimun two blank pages for the visa stamp.
• It must not be torn, ripped, split, or damaged in any kind of way.

One cannot cross international boundries without the passport. It is considered a criminal offense otherwise.

An old passport is a passport that has expired or is completely stamped. In the visa processing, it is required to track the travel history of the applicant.

If available, the old passport must also be provided meeting the given criteria

• If any of the traveler has old passport, it must be submitted along with latest passport.
• It must be original and in a good condition to access the required information.

Without the old passport, you cannot get the visa stamp. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

The photo is provided to the authority so that you can be identified based on the same.

The photographs must be provided as per the given photo specifications

• It must cover face 80% of the frame.
• It must be of proper size with dimensions of 35x45 mm (length - 45mm, breadth - 35mm).
• Two copies to be submitted with general photo guidelines.
• It must be clicked on an all white background.
• It must have a matte finish.
• It must be a recent photograph.
• The expressions on the face must be neutral, there must not be any kind of smiling of frowning in the photograph.
• Any kind of glasses must not be worn in the photograph.
• The hair must be tied back so that the face is clearly visible.
• The ears must be visible clearly.
• It must not have any headgear worn apart from religious reasons.
• It is to be taken care that your teeth do not show in the photograph.

Recent pictures are mandatory as old pictures can cause the authorities to reject your application.

An air ticket is a ticket or pass that is possessed by the traveller who is taking a flight for travelling from one location to another.

It is an important document and it should be submitted for the given reason

• The air ticket has to be booked for the complete round trip.
• It must be confirmed for the complete round trip.

An air ticket shows your course of travel and confirms your return to the native country.

A travel insurance is a document that shows the amount of money that has been kept in case of any major injury or accident.

The Travel Insurance issued has to meet the following criteria

• It must be valid as per your stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
• It is better if the insurance is valid for at least 3 to 10 ahead of the date of arrival to India.
• It must cover the whole trip right from leaving India to returning to India.
• It must mention the applicant's details as per the passport.

You are not allowed to travel abroad without a travel insurance. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

An income tax return is a document that is a record of the tax that is paid to the government by the concerned tax paying citizen.

The proof of income tax returns must match the provided parameters

• The Income tax returns should be specified with an ITR-V for last 3 years.
• It must be provided with a legitimate documentary proof of the payment of income tax.

One cannot leave the country if they do not provide appropriate proof of tax payment. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

Bank statement is a document that issued from the bank. This is obtained for the savings bank account to show ratify if you will be able to support your stay in the country.

The Bank statement is a mandatory document and it should meet the following criteria

• It must be evident of healthy balance amount in the account.
• It must be printed on an A4-size paper.
• It must be provided with authentic seal and signature from the bank.
• It must be original and obtained from the savings bank account.
• It must be of your saving bank account for last 6 months.
• It must be original and should have the bank's stamp and signature on every page.

If the Bank Statement doesn't show enough funds or shows irrelevant expenditure, it could lead to visa rejection on financial means. Professional visa consultation is recommended.

An invitation letter from the family/friend is a document that allows you travel to another country on an invitation from your acquaintances.

The letter of invitation submitted should match the following criteria

• Invitation should be attested by the Ministry of Security from Bosnia and also invitation should be in original.
• It must be addressed to the respective diplomatic mission.
• It must also mention the applicant details as per the passport, the purpose of travel, duration of stay, travel dates, and the relation with the invitee.
• It must mention the invitee's details such as the contact details, profession details, visa status and citizenship proof.
• It must specify who is going to bear the expenses of the trip.

An invitation letter from a family/friend whom you are visiting is essential to ratify the genuiness of your purpose of visit or even provide proof of accomodation.

Eligibility for getting Bosnia And Herzegovina Vfr Visa:

In order to be eligible to travel to the country on a visa, you will have to meet the following eligibility criteria.

Be a genuine traveller- You must have a valid and good intention behind travelling to the country.

Eligible to bear all expenses - You must possess sufficient funds to support yourself and any dependents throughout the stay.

Reasons to return - You must have strong ties in your home country that will ensure that you will return after your stay.

Visa Information

The Embassy of Bosnia & Herzegovina in Abu Dhabi has consular responsibility for the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

A foreigner shall be considered to have entered Bosnia & Herzegovina once he/she has crossed the state border of Bosnia & Herzegovina, or passed the post where the border control is performed.

A foreigner may enter Bosnia & Herzegovina if he/she has a valid passport or other identification document that he/she may use for crossing the state border of Bosnia & Herzegovina, provided that its validity does not expire 90 days before the entry into the country.

Nationals of the United Arab Emirates are exempted from the visa requirements when entering, exiting or traveling through Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to 90 days.  

From the 1st of September 2023 Nationals of the Kingdom of Bahrain are required to have valid visa to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Citizens of the European Union Member States, citizens of countries that signed Schengen Agreement and citizens of Andorra, Montenegro, Lichtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, Holly See and Switzerland can use their Identity Cards as a travel document to enter, exit and pass over BiH.

Foreigners who have multiple Schengen visa or European Union member state visa or residence permit of the Schengen Agreement country or European Union member state, or USA Visa can travel from the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain to Bosnia and Herzegovina and stay up to 30 days.

Diplomatic, service or ordinary passport holders accredited with the Department of Diplomatic Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who have been issued a special card, is visa exempted for entry/transit/stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Passport holders of other countries that are not exempted from visa regime must obtain a visa in order to travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Visa applicants must submit their applications in person and schedule appointment for visa. 

Standard visa processing time is up to 30 days, meaning you must not schedule the appointment within 30 days before departure date.

THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS WHEN VISA PROCESSING TIME IS LONGER OR WHEN Invitation Letter IS MANDATORY from a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen or resident (or exceptionally a foreigner with a permit to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina one year or more) the applicant intends to visit, certified by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs, IN THAT CASE YOU WILL BE INFORMED BY EMAIL AND YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT

VISA REQUIREMENTS

All applicants are required to complete an interview at the Embassy and submit the following documents:

• Valid passport of applicant and copy of the passport
• One passport size picture 35×45mm
• Visa Application Form (completed and signed) Download:  VISA APPLICATION FORM 
• Copy of a valid Residence permit for the United Arab Emirates (EID)
• Copy of round trip ticket or itinerary 
• Travel insurance – Mandatory standard insurance that covers the amount of 30,000 EUR OR 50,000 USD

In addition to the above, the following documents must be presented for: 

Visa C (short-term visa)

Purpose of visit:

• If traveling as a tourist:
• Voucher of a travel agency (confirmation of paid accommodation, transport, medical/travel insurance)  signed and stamped , hotel or other accommodation payment stating that trip has been paid in full 
• NOC letter from company or sponsor
• Copy of bank statement last 3 months
• Children below 18 years need to present birth certificate

2) If visiting friends and/or relatives: 

• Invitation Letter  from a Bosnia and Herzegovina citizen or resident (or exceptionally a foreigner with a permit to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina one year or more) the applicant intends to visit, certified by the  Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs

3) If traveling for business: 

• Letter from employer stating the purpose of the trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina, or 2.  Invitation Letter  from a company in Bosnia and Herzegovina, certified by the  Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs. 

4) If travelling for sport contest:

• An Official invitation to international competition from national sport organization or Olympic Committee in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

5) If travelling for judicial procedure:

• A court or the other official invitation for a judicial procedure in Bosnia and Herzegovina

6) If travelling for education:

• Education admission certificate from Bosnia and Herzegovina Education Institution

Visa type C consular fees:

• 60 Euro for single entry-238 AED
• 60 Euro for multiple entries-238 AED

Visa D (long-term visa)

Long Term Visa (Visa D) is being issued with multiple entries. A Stay cannot exceed 180 days in the period of one year beginning from the day of the first entry. To obtain Visa D applicants are obligated to submit the Invitation Letter certified by the  Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs  :

1) For family reunification:  Invitation Letter  of a relative or a friend from Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigner’s Affairs

2) For work:  Invitation Letter  from the company in Bosnia and Herzegovina certified by the Ministry of Security – Service for Foreigners’ Affairs; as well as work permit issued by relevant authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina;

Visa type D consular fee:

• 95 Euro for multiple entries-376 AED

The Embassy reserves the right to request additional documentation!

A visa does not guarantee entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina!

Foreigners may be requested at the border entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina to present all the relevant documents on the basis of which a visa was issued.

For the applicants of the United Arab Emirates, all payments are done in the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Abu Dhabi with a Visa or Master card only, the embassy do not accept payments in cash. Verification Letter of Invitation Requirement in the China Visa Process: A Brief Guide

A Verification Letter of Invitation is required when certain foreigners apply for M/F visas to China such as those from the Middle East. The inviting Chinese company has to ensure the invitees conduct themselves appropriately in China and depart on time as scheduled.

In light of recent developments, the application procedures for business visas to China have undergone substantial simplification. Most foreigners can now apply for an M/F visa using only the invitation letter issued by a Chinese company. Additionally, citizens of certain countries are eligible to enter China without a visa and stay for up to 144 hours or even 15 days .

However, it’s important to note that some applicants may still need to apply for a “Verification Letter of Invitation (邀请核实单)” when applying for an M/F visa to China. In this article, we will introduce what a Verification Letter of Invitation is, who needs to apply for it, and the potential risks.

Wha t is a  Verification Letter for Invitation ?

A Verification Letter for Invitation is an official document issued by the local Foreign Affairs Office to verify the authenticity of an invitation extended to a foreigner. Among others, the foreign applicant should possess legit identification; the party issuing the invitation letter must be legitimate, either a public unit or a company; and the reasons for the visit should fall within permissible scope. The allowable purposes of the visit include:

• For exchange, visit, investigation(F visa)
• For commercial and trade activities (M visa)

It’s important to note that in most cases, the invitation letter provided by the inviting unit (whether a public entity or a company) is sufficient for M/F visa applications. The Verification Letter for Invitation is only required when the Chinese embassies or consulates in certain countries specifically ask for the document.

Meanwhile, it is also essential to note that obtaining a Verification Letter for Invitation does not guarantee visa approval. The final decision on granting a visa rests with the Chinese embassy abroad, based on the specific circumstances of the applicant.

Difference from the PU/TE letter

The PU/TE letter is also a type of official verification letter that foreigners need to receive before applying for several types of visas. With the PU letter, foreigners could apply Chinese business visa (M visa). With the TE letter, foreigners could apply China visitor visa (F visa). However, these two types of verification letters were mostly applicable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the pandemic control concerns, PU/TE letter issuance was very strict, for which the company needed to prove the project was very urgent and important or foreign invitees would make big contribution to the destination city.

Now, the Verification Letter of Invitation is the most common document to be submitted where a verification letter is required.

Who needs to apply for the Verification Letter for Invitation?

Based on current information, foreign applicants in Sri Lanka and most Middle East countries – such as Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, and so on – need to submit a Verification Letter for Invitation when they apply for a visa to China.

That said, a Verification Letter for Invitation might not be required in a few Middle East countries, such as Saudi Arabia. Therefore, we suggest that foreign applicants consult with their the local Chinese embassy or consulate to confirm in advance.

How to apply for the V erification L etter for Invitation ?

The Verification Letter for Invitation needs to be applied for by the inviting Chinese company (inviter) at the local Foreign Affairs Office. The detailed procedures may vary slightly from city to city. But in general, the application may follow the below process:

Step 1: Account setup

The inviting Chinese company must open an online account on the official website of the Foreign Affairs Office. To open the account, the company may need to submit some documents, such as:

• Business License
• ID card or passport of legal representatives
• Company tax payment certificate
• Other required documents

Step 2: Prepare and submit application documents

Once the inviting Chinese company has an account, it can provide information about the invitee and submit relevant documents. The required documents usually include:

• Application Form for Inviting Foreigners to China
• Copy of the invited person’s valid passport (with a validity period of at least six months)
• Invitation Letter issued by the inviting organization
• Guarantee Letter issued by the inviting organization
• Dispatch Letter from the invitee’s current employer
• Government approval document, screenshot of exhibition registration, and relevant documents such as exhibition contracts and booth layouts (for those attending international conferences, exhibitions, or large-scale events in China)

Each document has specific requirements. The reviewing department will evaluate the situation and may request additional documents from the applicant company. Normally, the application process takes 4-5 working days, unless supplementary documents are needed. Once approved, the applicant company can download an Invitation Verification Letter from the online system. The application is free of charge.

If supplementary documents are required or if the submitted documents have deficiencies, the application processing time may be significantly extended. Foreign applicants are advised to allocate sufficient time for the application process to avoid any delays in their travel itinerary

Potential risks for the inviting company

As above mentioned, the Chinese company acting as the inviter for the Verification Letter of Invitation must issue a Guarantee Letter. The Guarantee Letter serves as a commitment that all submitted documents are accurate and authentic. Additionally, the company pledges to supervise and encourage the foreign invitee to adhere to Chinese laws and regulations and depart from China as scheduled.

If the invitee fails to leave China on time or engages in any illegal activities, the company assumes responsibility.

Considering this, companies should exercise caution when inviting foreigners to China. The application for the Verification Letter of Invitation should be grounded in genuine necessity. Additionally, the inviting company must proactively ensure that the invitees conduct themselves appropriately while in China and adhere to departure schedules.
