Philippines Travel Itinerary

Traveling in the Philippines takes time because all islands are divided by the ocean. Experiencing the entire country in 3 weeks is impossible. However, this 3-week route takes you along some of the country’s highlights. This Philippines Travel Guide includes extra time meant as travel time.

Day 1: Manila

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is where your incredible journey starts. Most people have a love-hate relationship with this city and spend one or two nights here. If you want to explore the city, book a tour visiting the city’s highlights and tasting local food.

Tip: Grab Taxi is a great way to get reliable transportation around the city.

Makati is the area where you need to spend the night and find all the trendy restaurants and bars.

Day 2 – 3: Coron

The small fishing village Coron is all about hopping from one stunning island to the other. On the morning of day 2, fly from Manila to Busuanga island, followed by a 30-minute drive to Coron town.

Once you arrive, relax, hike up Mt. Tapyas before sunset, and go island hopping by boat ( book online ) on day 3. You can arrange this in advance or at the harbor.

Tip: The best place to stay is in the center of town; this has the most options, with the only downside that you won’t have any beach near your hotel.

Day 4 – 6: El Nido

A 4-hour ferry from Coron ( find tickets ) takes you to one of the most stunning locations in your Philippines Travel Guide. El Nido is located on the northern tip of Palawan Island, offering pristine white beaches and paradise islands. You can visit these places by joining an El Nido Island Hopping Tour .

Choose a hostel or hotel on one of the beautiful beaches in El Nido, with incredible views over the turquoise waters.

Tip: You could also choose to stay in El Nido town. Although the town itself used to be a little underwhelming, it has been developing fast and now has some great hotels and restaurants.

Day 7: Puerto Princesa

From El Nido, drive down to Puerto Princesa to spend the night before catching your flight to Cebu.

Getting to El Nido is possible by van or public transport. In Puerto Princesa, we highly recommend visiting the Iwahig Open Prison and having dinner at Kalui.

Good to know: Unfortunately, the standard Filipino kitchen isn’t that great. Rice and pork or BBQ chicken are the typical dishes. However, at popular restaurants, it is an entirely different world.

Puerto Princesa has plenty of hotels to choose from that are perfect for spending the night before your journey to Cebu.

Did you know? Puerto Princesa is known as ‘the city in the forest’ because of its luscious greenery and tropical atmosphere.

Day 8 – 9: Cebu

Cebu is one of the main islands and transport hubs of the Philippines. Arrive in Cebu by airplane from Puerto Princesa in the morning of day 8. Directly hop into the bus or car and make your way down to Moalboal. The following day, go Canyoneering in Badian and jump off the Kawasan Falls!

You can stay in Moalboal or Cebu City for your canyoning trip. Moalboal is the most convenient as it is very close to Badian, but keep in mind that this cheaper option can be fully booked due to the lack of accommodations.

Alternatively, stay in Cebu City, which, although quite far away from Badian (around a 3-hour drive), has the option of free pick-up and drop-off (with Island Trek Tours).

Day 10 – 12: Bohol

Discover the unique landscapes of Bohol with rice terraces, chocolate hills, and white sand beaches. But what makes Bohol unique is the Philippine Tarsier. Tiny, monkey-like animals that move during the night. Book a day tour to explore all the highlights of Bohol. It is a short 2-hour ferry ride from Cebu to Bohol.

Get your boat tickets in advance

The endangered Tarsiers are extremely sensitive to light and sound. Only visit the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary, where you’re not allowed to touch, talk to, or photograph them with flash. If you see tarsiers in cages, that’s not OK! Learn more about responsible wildlife tourism .

Day 13 – 15: Siquijor

Majestic waterfalls, the friendliest Filipinos, and beautiful local life. The island of Siquijor is stunning to explore by motorbike in a 2-hour drive. Read about all the things to do in Siquijor .

Day 16: Travel day

While you’re still buzzing from the incredible last 15 days, it’s time to head back to Cebu to catch a flight to Siargao. Getting back to Cebu is a long trip, but it’s worth it for the next part of your itinerary.

• Catch the boat from Siquijor to Dumaguete (30 min; book your tickets here ).
• At Dumaguete, take the boat to Liloan Port, Cebu (20 min).
• From Liloan Port, catch the public bus to Cebu City (4 hours).

Spend the night in Cebu City and fly out to Siargao the next morning. Please note: If you’re planning to fly to Siargao, keep in mind that evening flights are often canceled. The Siargao runway does not have lights yet (April 2019).

Day 17 – 20: Siargao

Welcome to the ‘Most Beautiful Island in Asia’. Siargao has the perfect island vibe with great beaches, surfing, scenic drives, island hopping, incredible food, and a chilled vibe. You could easily spend a week in Siargao.

There are three main tourist towns: General Luna, Dapa, and Pacifico. Dapa and Pacifico are quieter, and General Luna offers the best restaurants.

Day 21: Manila

Spend your last day in Manila. We recommend you be back in Manila at least 10 hours before your international flight back home leaves. Why? Most flights in the afternoon are delayed. We have been to The Philippines twice and had just two flights leaving on time or too early, haha.

• Visit the rice fields in the north of the Philippines (4-week route)
• Skip Puerto Princesa and fly directly from El Nido to Cebu (more relaxed)

Your Budget for the Philippines

The Philippines is a budget travel country. It is affordable to get around, and there is accommodation for every kind of budget. However, the prices for accommodation are a little higher compared to Indonesia or Thailand . If you’re on a tight budget, take the overnight ferry instead of an airplane and travel by bus. The currency in the country is the Philippine Peso (PHP, ₱).

Travel on a budget in The Philippines, from $180 − $350 USD weekly per person, mid-range $320 − $180 USD, and high-end from $180 − $240 USD. However, costs depend on factors like accommodation, transportation, and activities. We did not include flights. Check flight prices here

Wifi and SIM Cards in the Philippines

Wifi is something you cannot relate to in the Philippines. It is unstable, and if they offer it, it’s usually not fast. We always recommend getting a SIM card to use Google Maps or make phone calls in emergencies. It is best to get a GLOBE or SMART SIM card (9GB for 1000 PHP) and top it up once you’re out of data.

How to get around the Philippines?

Transportation in the Philippines is well-arranged and affordable but time-consuming. Travel overland by taxi, tricycles, jeepneys, buses, and minivans and go from island to island by boat or airplane.

Flights Flights go as often as buses in the Philippines to cross to another island. Flight delays are common, so it is recommended never to book too tight with connecting flights or activities.

Boats and buses Ferries to cross to a different island are very common. Taking an overnight ferry can reduce costs on your travel budget. Booking boats and long bus rides in advance is common.

Book your tickets online in advance

Tricycle To cover short distances, a tricycle is very convenient. The vehicle is kind of a 3-wheeled tuk-tuk. You have to bargain with this kind of transport. Our rule of thumb was 100 PHP for 2 persons, including luggage for a 10-minute drive.

Motorbike In the main tourist areas (not cities), we recommend renting a motorbike and driving around by yourself. The price for tourists is about 400 – 600 PHP (±9 USD) per day, depending on the season.

Best Time to Visit the Philippines

From December to April, during the dry season, is the best time to visit the Philippines. Where March to May are the busiest and most expensive months. It is best to avoid traveling there from July to October when the typhoon season is active.

Always do your research per location. For example, El Nido and Siargao have two completely different seasons at the same time of the year.

Is the Philippines safe to travel?

Through media, the Philippines is commonly illustrated as unsafe and a no-go destination. However, that’s not true. The deep southern tip (Mindanao area) of the Philippines is the only no-go area due to possible terrorism. The rest of the Philippines is safe.

Here are my top Philippines travel tips to help you plan and make the most of your holiday. It’s an amazing country, but be prepared!

If you’re looking for travel tips for the Philippines , then boil up a brew and let me share my knowledge, with you.

I’ve been to the Philippines twice now, and I’ve spent almost six weeks in total exploring the beautiful islands of Palawan, Cebu, Siargao, Bohol and Boracay. And I’m still totally up for going back again one day – it’s that good!

The Philippines are made up of  over 7000 islands, meaning that the only way to travel between them is to either fly or travel by water. Not too much of a problem – in fact, all part of the journey – but it does mean you need to consider the fact that weather changes quickly, affecting transport and so you can’t really expect, or plan for, anything in the Philippines to be on time.  Don’t book your travel plans too close together for that very reason.

Oh and there’s your first travel tip for the Philippines dropped already. Read on for more juicy nuggets of knowledge, gained from my 5 weeks of exploration.

If you’re looking for Philippines travel tips and advice, you’ve come to the right place. This is my essential travel guide to the Philippines. Well, along with the other 10+ Philippines articles I’ve written .

1. English is an official language in the Philippines

Great for any backpackers coming from Asia and craving a taste of home. This means you can find out a lot about the local culture, and gain more from your experience.

Take the time to chat to locals as it’s a rare luxury to be able to speak the same language as so many people in Asia.

2. You’ll eat lots of fish and rice

Food in the Philippines is basic, unless you go high end. Expect lots of fish and rice. They do like their fast food though so you’ll never be too far from a McDonalds, especially in the popular spots.

3. Try the Don Papa rum

The Philippines produces its own Don Papa rum, and it’s pretty cheap for anyone coming from the West. Make sure you get your hands on some to drink there, and bring some back for the alcohol cupboard too.

4. Know where NOT to go

There’s a big change going on right now in the Philippines, under the current government. This has led to some d efinite no go areas in the Philippines . Make sure you ask if there are any around when you arrive in your destination.

Remember, safety first.

5. Filipinos are lovely

In general Filipino people are lovely and there’s a chilled out vibe in most of the tourist areas. Say hello, be friendly and interact, as you would anywhere.

6. The currency is ‘Filipino Peso’

There are around 75 Filipino Pesos to the British Pound .

7. Don’t try to fit in too many places

There are many beautiful places to go in the Philippines. Try visiting Palawan for starters, then Bohol, Siargao and Cebu. My number one tip for the Philippines though, is don’t try to fit in too many places to a short amount of time.

You need at least 5 days in each location to have enough time to get there, enjoy and relax, and get out again without stressing about flight and ferry connections. If you do too much island hopping you’ll be worrying too much about connections to be able to enjoy a place.

8. The Philippines beaches are some of the best in the world

Take your camera and prepare to be amazed. My number one travel tip for the Philippines would be to explore as many of the beaches as possible in wherever you’re staying. There are definitely some hidden gems to be found!

9. Do a sailing trip to see the best of the islands

Board a sailing trip from Coron to El Nido in Palawan , you won’t be disappointed. The Tao Experience is one of the best things I’ve ever done .

10. Taxis are easy to hail

They’re also plentiful in the cities in the Philippines. They’re also crazy cheap, but my top Philippines tip is to just make sure the meter is turned on. Not accusing anyone but it just makes things easier!

11. Cock fighting is normal

Don’t be surprised if you see cock fighting in the smaller villages and cities. It’s a way of life here and locals will spend a lot of time preparing their cock for the brawl. It’s normal to see them stood or sat outside their houses holding their roosters tight.

12. Dispose of your rubbish responsibly

The Philippines is growing crazily fast as a tourist destination which means the sanitation and infrastructure is struggling. Follow instructions when it comes to rubbish disposal and in how to dispose of toilet roll. I’ve seen what happens when tourists don’t – it’s grim.

Boracay has been shut down for six months thanks to the sanitation there. From visiting in February though, I could see that the extreme measures were needed.

13. The poverty line is low in the Philippines

Some islands and areas – like Siargao – have suffered greatly from recent freak weather incidents. As such you’ll witness some extreme poverty travelling in the Philippines , so be generous with your pesos when you’re buying your Philippines souvenirs .

14. Take a moped ride as a taxi

Do your research and ask around to know how much you should be spending on taxi rides . Prices can vary greatly. Oh, and don’t shy away from taking a ride on the back of a moped or motorbike – it’s more fun, and cheaper!

15. Accommodation is cheap

You can get private accommodation from around £10 per night , but it’ll be very basic. If you and your mates group together you can get some incredible places for a few quid more.

16. Filipinos like to sing

Even moreso than what you might be used to at home. Expect to hear whistling and (tuneless) singing wherever you go.

17. Pack for the Philippines wisely

Think about what you’re going to pack for the Philippines. It can be hard to find things on the islands, and, if you’re a larger Westerner, might be hard to find clothes to fit. This Philippines packing list from Project Untethered can help. 

18. Eating is cheap

You can eat super cheap in the Philippines , but splash out now and again to really experience the new food revolution of the country – especially in Boracay.

19. Filipino service is slow

Service is generally slower than in the UK , but it will almost always be done with a smile. Don’t order if you’re in any kind of rush, which you definitely shouldn’t be here.

20. Do a food tour in Manila

Food tours on your first day are a great way to learn more about Filipino cuisine and what you can expect. This is the best way to learn about the food options in the Philippines as quickly as possible.

21. You can get a 30-day visa on arrival

Brits are granted a 30-day visa for the Philippines on arrival. You can get a 59-day one if you apply in advance.

Make sure you look up the specific requirements for your country so you don’t have any kind of problem at the border.

22. Research your ferry prices

Whatever route you want to do compare the ferry prices and the flight against each other – you could end up saving quite a bit if you have some time on your hands and don’t mind hanging around.

23. Be prepared for the rains

Study the weather and make sure you’re going at a good time of year if you want those postcard perfect beach shots. February 2018 was not a good time to be in the Philippines, yet, February 2015 was an absolute dream.

24. Go snorkelling

Snorkelling in the Philippines is some of the best I’ve ever done anywhere. Do it! Or go one better, and use the opportunity to learn to scuba dive. 25. Dare to hire a motorbike

Rent a motorbike on the smaller islands. Having my own wheels to get round Siargao was absolutely brilliant, and you get to see so much more.

26. Refill your bottles

Don’t drink the water in the Philippines. On Siargao there was a big drive for tourists to refill their bottles, rather than to keep buying the 500ml size – I thought this was great. Helps you to avoid adding to the world’s plastic problem and to make the most of the cheaper refill charge.

27. The Philippines are changing fast

I’ve been to the Philippines twice, three years apart. It seemed so, so different the second time. Tourism in the Philippines has exploded in recent years and the country is changing fast. Enjoy the ride!

28. Philippines and COVID

As of January 12th 2021, the Philipines had had around 500k cases of COVID and 10k deaths. The country was put on lockdown, like in England, and people weren’t allowed to leave their homes . This will obviously have affected the country hugely, so expect there to be closures, delays, and a new attitude.

For a country that relies so heavily on tourism, this has been an incredibly difficult year. Check the current gov.uk Philippines travel advice before you leave.

29. Take American plug adaptors

One of the most important tips for the Philippines is to take a universal plug adaptor if you’re coming from England – you’ll need the American attachment.

30. Use the Jeepneys

If you want the cheapest transport possible then use the local jeepney buses. Everyone piles in, pretty much on top of each other, and they stop every minute or so to let people in and out. It takes ages to get anywhere but it’s cheap and it’s what the locals do!

This is one of the top Philippines travel tips if you want to save some money on your trip.

31. Travel around

You need to spend a good chunk of time in the Philippines. Each island is quite different to another , and known for different Philippines activities. In Boracay it’s all about the nightlife, in Palawan the beaches, in Bohol it’s the Chocolate Hills, and out in the ocean it’s all about the scuba.

32. Make sure to try the lechon

Lechon is what Filipinos call a hog roast . It’s delicious and the go to meal for any kind of celebration there. Make sure you try it while you’re there, to really say that you’ve experienced the Philippines.

33. Have a ‘boodle fight’

Honestly, one of my top 5 meals of all time. When I was on the Tao Experience sailing trip one of our meals was a ‘ boodle fight ‘. This is when they lay all the food out on the table, often served in banana leaves, and diners will go for it with their bare hands.

Obviously it depends how hungry your ‘opponents’ are as to how much you get to eat –  but that’s all part of the fun!

34. Know what you’re ordering

This one time, I thought I’d be all footloose and fancy free and order something random off the menu for my lunch in Siargao. It took AGES to come (see point 19 above) and then when it was put in front of me, I baulked.

It was pig skin, with the hair still on it, with half cooked egg in it.

I tried a spoonful as I was the only person in the restaurant. This memory is making my face scrunch up and me feel a bit sick. I swallowed.

I managed one more and then left the money and a tip on the table and just got up and left it. I couldn’t.

35. Beware the Philippines weather

The weather can change very quickly in the Philippines , given that the country is made up of loads of tiny islands.

In Bohol I experienced a typhoon while out on my moped. Halfway home, barely able to see, I got a text alert saying to get inside ASAP.

My mum will kill me if she reads this. At that point I was wearing flipflops, in a torrential downpour, by myself, riding a motorbike back from the Chocolate Hills, still with half an hour to go and not knowing my route.

So dangerous.

Also, make sure to travel out of typhoon season.

Both times I’ve been to the Philippines it was in February. One year it was glorious sun for the entire time, and the next, rain 50% of the time.

My brother went for his honeymoon in December and it chucked it down for the two weeks too.

36. There’s not much to do when it rains

Thought I needed a new point.

Philippines travel tip: when it rains in the Philippines, there’s not much to do. The Philippines are all about the beaches, the sea, and eating outside. There’s really not much to do in the rain.

If rain is forecast for your trip I’d recommend booking into a nice spa hotel to make the most of your trip.

37. Flights over ferries

If you can, take a flight. They take a lot less time than ferries, given the delays and check in times, and are generally more trustworthy too.

38. You need 750 pesos departure fee

Don’t be all happy with yourself for managing to spend all your pesos just before you leave, you need to save 750 pesos to depart the airport.

Keep this in cash to one side so you can pay easily when you leave. It has to be in cash and there’s no getting round it.

39. Split big money bills ASAP

If you just want a little taste of lechon from a street vendor, you’re not going to be able to pay with those big fresh bills of yours. I’d recommend spending them in the airport as soon as you get them, just so you can break them down.

40. Take your own toilet roll

Trust me, it’s hard to come by.

Keep a stash of tissues or toilet roll in your bag for emergencies.

41. And hand sanitiser

I would’ve carried this before, but especially now. Keep some sanitiser in your day bag and use regularly.

42. Don’t leave without going on a tricycle

There are lots of different modes of transport in the Philippines, for all different occasions. I found a tricycle was often used on the way to and from the airport.

A tricyle is a motorbike with a carriage attached – great for transporting your luggage.

If you’re looking for money-saving Philippines travel tips, then know that these are often a lot cheaper than cars.

43. Bring your own moisturiser & sunscreen

Many of the sunscreens and moisturisers in Asia contain some sort of whitening treatment, and they’re mega expensive. Bring a sun cream brand you know and can trust from home.

44. Know the Philippines travel restrictions

When I was in the Philippines there were travel restrictions thanks to the weather. Keep up to date with the latest Philippines travel restrictions because of COVID before you leave. Whole islands can be shut down which can throw your plans all out of whack .

It pays to be one step ahead.

45. You don’t need a Philippines travel guide book

I didn’t bother with a Philippines travel guide book when I was there, just use my blog!

46. Hire local drivers and do local tours

As soon as you start doing tours and taxi rides with companies with huge marketing budgets, you start paying more for the experience.

Support local entrepreneurialism and book tours and taxis locally so you can save money, and make sure the money goes to the right place too. You can always do TripAdvisor checks when you’re there, if you’re worried about safety at all.

47. Don’t give money to child beggars

This goes for the world over, but I’ll just add it into these Philippines travel tips too. It’s so tempting, I know, I used to do it, but if you give money to child beggars you’re encouraging a whole system of them not going to school, which will only affect them negatively in the long run.

Earning money by begging on the streets only serves to make begging seem a more attractive option to actually learning. For both the children, and their parents – don’t fund these thoughts.

48. WiFi is generally rubbish

Do NOT expect to be able to download programmes , talk clearly on video chat or any other high bandwidth internet activity. WiFi in the Philippines has probably got better since I was there, but by all accounts it’s still pretty shoddy.

Get out there and enjoy the great Philippines outdoors instead!

49. Power outages are common

Don’t be surprised if you wake up and your stuff hasn’t charged, power outages are common in the Philippines.

50. Take a dry bag

Well, seeing as you asked…

I’d say one of the most important Philippines travel tips is to take a dry bag, or buy one when you’re there. Chances are that at some point you’ll be on a boat, and you’ll be with your phone. Don’t be like me and let the water splashes destroy the mechanism.

Take or buy a dry bag and use it to keep your tech safe.

51. Religion is strong here

Most Filipinos are Catholic , and strongly catholic at that. Don’t make ‘jokes’ about religion, or say anything negative. Not that you would, of course, but in this list of Philippines travel tips I just wanted to give you a warning.

52. Do an eco check on all activities

I’m all for sustainable tourism and am always looking for ways to make my travel more eco friendly, this generally includes doing your own research on activities and destinations.

I strongly recommend looking into all the activities you want to do in the Philippines and doing your own research into how eco friendly they really are – especially when they concern animals.

Philippines, I will really miss you so much…. I used to spend the equivalent of thousands of US dollars when I traveled there. Due to inflexible “vaccination restrictions” and “quarantines”, many tourists like myself are now spending our money in Vietnam. Vietnam has NO such restrictions. Tourism in Vietnam is THRIVING!!! The bad news for Philippines tourism is that the writing is on the wall and the Philippines restriction really are HERE TO STAY!! They are NEVER going away!

This spells bad news for the already crumbling Philippines Tourism industry. For the businesses that are also highly dependent on tourism, the sad reality is that it is very unlikely to improve any time soon. The good news is that Vietnam tourism is only going to grow more! Vietnam’s tourism is already expanding and when we add all of the many rejected former tourists to the list, Vietnam will spike again in profits and expansion. Filipino workers will be well informed to go to Vietnam for the future they can no longer realize as a consequence of a strict policy choice.

I treasure my memories of the Philippines when I travelled there in the past, but Vietnam is now the way to go.

This hardly sounds like the Philippines I remember. As young teen in late 50’s n 60’s I travel to Palawan it was so remote like. Hardly anything there but beauty, friendly people. I travel to Baugio an north of there in between 65-67 another beautiful part of the world. I finally got to return in 79- 82 travel extensively change was so not like it was in early days, but things never do stay the same. At least the way you described the beaches on Palawan seem to as nature wanted them to be. I still long for the islands only in my mind not at my age, but I do thank you for information you gave it brings back fond memories of days gone but not forgotten. Bless all on your travels.

Untuk menentukan kelayakan Anda dalam melakukan perjalanan, silakan merujuk pada ketentuan dan persyaratan berikut untuk Filipina:

Kedatangan dari Daftar Hijau

• Wisatawan internasional yang divaksinasi penuh dari negara-negara Daftar Hijau yang ditunjuk pemerintah dibebaskan dari karantina pada saat kedatangan ke Filipina tetapi harus menunjukkan tes RT-PCR negatif yang diambil dalam 72 jam sebelum keberangkatan. Wisatawan yang datang dari negara-negara Daftar Hijau juga harus memantau kesehatannya selama 14 hari setelah kedatangan.
• Wisatawan yang belum divaksinasi atau divaksinasi sebagian harus menjalani karantina di fasilitas yang ditunjuk sampai hasil tes negatif COVID-19 keluar pada hari kelima.

Persyaratan

• Paspor yang valid
• Visa yang valid (berlaku hanya untuk warga negara asing dengan visa yang masih berlaku dan yang ada pada saat masuk)
• Jadwal penerbangan yang dikonfirmasi
• Bukti akomodasi yang telah dipesan terlebih dahulu di hotel karantina terakreditasi
• Hasil negatif tes RT-PCR dalam waktu 72 jam perjalanan

Negara-negara berikut ditetapkan sebagai Daftar Hijau:

Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Kepulauan Virgin Britania Raya, Chad, Tiongkok, Komoro, Pantai Gading, Republik Demokratik Kongo, Djibouti, Guinea, Kepulauan Falkland, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jepang, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kirgistan, Liberia, Montserrat, Monako, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Rwanda, Saba, Saint Barthelemy, Saint Pierre dan Miquelon, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sint Eustatius, Sudan, Timor Leste, Togo, Uganda, dan Uni Emirat Arab.

Kedatangan dari Daftar Kuning

• Wisatawan yang divaksinasi lengkap dari negara-negara Daftar Kuning dengan hasil tes RT-PCR negatif dapat dikarantina di fasilitas yang ditunjuk sampai hasil tes RT-PCR negatif keluar pada hari ketiga. Wisatawan yang masuk dalam kondisi ini harus memantau kesehatannya selama 14 hari setelah kedatangan.
• Wisatawan yang divaksinasi lengkap yang masuk ke Filipina tanpa hasil tes RT-PCR sebelum keberangkatan dapat dikarantina di fasilitas yang ditunjuk sampai hasil tes RT-PCR negatif keluar pada hari kelima. Wisatawan yang masuk ke Filipina dalam kondisi ini harus karantina di rumah hingga hari ke-10.
• Wisatawan yang belum divaksinasi atau divaksinasi sebagian yang masuk ke Filipina dari negara-negara Daftar Kuning harus dikarantina di fasilitas yang ditunjuk hingga hasil tes RT-PCR negatif keluar pada hari ketujuh dan harus dikarantina di rumah hingga hari ke-14.

Negara-negara Daftar Kuning ditetapkan sebagai semua negara yang tidak muncul di Daftar Hijau atau Daftar Merah.

Kedatangan dari Daftar Merah

• Penumpang transit yang tidak keluar dari bandara dikecualikan.
• Orang Filipina yang telah divaksinasi yang masuk ke Filipina harus menunjukkan hasil tes RT-PCR negatif yang diambil dalam 72 jam sebelum keberangkatan dan menjalani karantina di fasilitas. Wisatawan yang memberikan hasil tes RT-PCR negatif yang diambil pada hari ke-7 karantina akan dibebaskan dan harus melanjutkan karantina mandiri selama 7 hari lagi.

Negara-negara berikut ditetapkan sebagai Daftar Merah:

Andorra, Prancis, Monako, Kepulauan Mariana Utara, Reunion, San Marino, Afrika Selatan, dan Swiss.

Pemerintah telah menerapkan Level Waspada 1-5 untuk pembatasan terkait COVID-19. Pedoman perjalanan dan pariwisata dalam negeri pada setiap Level Waspada adalah sebagai berikut:

Penduduk yang tidak divaksinasi harus tinggal di dalam rumah, kecuali untuk membeli barang kebutuhan pokok atau berolahraga.
• Level 4: Perjalanan intrazonal dan interzonal diperbolehkan, kecuali bagi mereka yang berusia di bawah 18 tahun, di atas 65 tahun, dan wanita hamil.
• Level 5: Batasan untuk semua moda transportasi. Setiap orang yang berusia di bawah 18 tahun, di atas 65 tahun, orang yang menderita imunodefisiensi, penyakit penyerta, atau risiko kesehatan lainnya, dan wanita hamil wajib tetap tinggal di tempat tinggalnya sepanjang waktu, kecuali untuk mengambil barang dan jasa penting.​

Bar karaoke, klub, aula konser dan teater tetap tutup. Konser, pasar malam/festival, dan olahraga kontak dilarang.
• Level 4: Sebagian besar atraksi wisata buka dengan kapasitas tempat dalam ruangan maksimum 10% hanya untuk individu yang divaksinasi penuh dan 50% kapasitas tempat luar ruangan, kecuali gedung konser dan teater, yang tetap tutup.

Philippines travel requirements 2024: What travelers need to know

We aim to keep this post updated about Philippines travel in 2024 with official Philippines travel restrictions, requirements, and health and safety guidance. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions so you can travel confidently, safely, and responsibly in this new post-pandemic world of ours.

As restrictions can vary based on the traveler’s citizenship, we will focus primarily on rules affecting U.S. citizens.

February 2024:  “Our main requirement for travel to the Philippines was completing an online form within 72 hours of arriving. Our airline reminded us to do the same process before departing the Philippines as well. The form asks for flight info, countries visited in the last 30 days, and whether you have been sick or exposed to someone ‘known to have communicable/infectious disease’ in the past 30 days. We then received a QR code to show at the airport. We did not need to show the QR code upon arrival or departure (airline staff told me it’s actually for Philippine passport holders only). Overall tourism was open and accessible within the country, flights between islands were the easiest, with long overland travel times (due to local-roads / lack of highways). We did not experience any travel restrictions while within the country. There is a pre-arrival form that must be filled out that is used for tracing but really we didn’t find it used much beyond immigration. There were requirements for providing hotels for contact tracing but it was haphazardly enforced, such as only 1 bus company asked for this information. Access to all services is open, we did notice that for many services employees were masked but there was no requirement for tourists to mask. We found covid tests readily accessible and often in vending machines such as in the airport. One thing of note is that people did appear to be sick. Is the Philippines open for travel? Can I travel to the Philippines right now?

Effective July 2023 , all travelers are allowed entry in the Philippines without restrictions. The following are no longer required to enter the Philippines:

• Proof of Vaccination
• Proof of negative Covid test (for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers)
• Travel insurance

However, travelers must still meet the following requirements:

• As of April 2023, all travelers, including children. are required to register via the Electronic Travel Declaration System no earlier than 72 hours from the intended arrival.
• Passport must be valid for at least six months at the time of arrival.
• Have booked a return or outbound ticket (affiliate link).

U.S. citizens are allowed visa-free entry into the Philippines for 30 days.

Quarantine rules in the Philippines: What happens if I get Covid?

All travelers arriving in the Philippines are not required to quarantine.

Foreign tourists who  test positive for Covid while in the Philippines must continue to isolate and undergo quarantine.

For cases with moderate to severe symptoms or belonging to the immunocompromised category, isolation of 10 days from onset of signs and symptoms is required. Patient may be required to be admitted to a health care facility based on the advice of the attending physician.

For severe cases and immunocompromised cases , isolation is required and may end only upon the advice of their health care provider.

Patients with mild symptoms or asymptomatic are advised to isolate at home for five days or until fever-free for at least 24 hours without using antipyretics such as paracetamol, whichever is earlier.

Foreign tourists may be required to cover the costs of quarantine accommodations or hospitalization.

Can I travel to the Philippines in April 2024? Can I travel to Philippines this Spring?

The Philippines is open to tourists in April. Read on for details and check back for updates.

What is it like to fly to Manila MNL Ninoy Aquino International Airport right now? Philippine Airlines reports p assengers are no longer required to wear face masks, though it is still recommended.

Do I have to quarantine when traveling to the Philippines? No. Only travelers who test positive will need to quarantine. See details above.

Does Philippines check COVID-19 symptoms of incoming travelers? Travelers undergo a passive thermal scan upon arrival in the airport. Hats must be removed, otherwise just walk through.

Does Philippines require a negative Covid 19 test for travelers? No. As of July 2023, a negative test is no longer required for travelers to enter the Philippines.

Do I have to undergo a Covid test upon arrival in the Philippines? No. Covid test upon arrival is no longer required.

Does Philippines require a proof of Coronavirus vaccine for travelers? No. A proof of Coronavirus vaccine is no longer required.

Do I still need to provide a negative Covid test or quarantine if I have been vaccinated? Quarantine and negative Covid test is no longer required for travelers.

Is a booster shot required for travel to the Philippines? At this time, booster shots are not required in the Philippines. There is currently no expiration period set for the validity of vaccinations.

Do I need to provide proof of vaccination or test for domestic flights in the Philippines? Most destinations within the Philippines no longer require a proof of vaccination or test for domestic flights.

However, local authorities may have specific requirements. It is recommended to check with the destination’s local government unit (LGU) through their official website or Facebook page for the latest rules and guidelines.

What healthcare options are available to travelers in the Philippines who get the virus?   Philippine hospitals and clinics are open. Foreign visitors can get PCR or antigen test at  the Philippines Department Of Health accredited testing centers .

Foreign visitors who get the virus would pay out of pocket for medical services. The medical expenses for the treatment will vary depending on the severity of the condition, the hospital where the patient is admitted, confinement duration, and other factors.

What service businesses and restaurants are open in the Philippines? Markets and groceries, which are considered essential businesses, remained open throughout the duration of the community quarantine in the Philippines.

Restaurants are permitted to accept dine-ins. Malls, personal care services, and entertainment establishments are also back in business following health and safety protocols.

More hotels, resorts, and other accommodation establishments are allowed to operate under different community quarantine classifications and cater to local travelers.

Do I need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter or stay at hotels, resorts, and other accommodation establishments in the Philippines? Most accommodation establishments in the Philippines no longer require a proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test.

It is advisable to visit the hotel website or official social media pages to know their latest guidelines. Additionally, contacting the establishment directly is recommended for any clarifications.

What public gatherings are allowed in Philippines? Public gatherings are allowed but must follow health and safety protocols.

Are face masks required in the Philippines? As of July 2023 , wearing of face masks is no longer required in the Philippines.

Are buses running in the Philippines? Yes. Public transportation is available in the Philippines, including buses, jeepneys, trains, tricycles, and vans.

Will the Philippines impose new Covid restrictions? What’s next is difficult to predict. Historically, the Philippines has imposed nationwide as well as localized COVID-19 restrictions when strains on the health care system might become unsustainable.

How has the Coronavirus impacted the Philippines?

The first case of the Coronavirus was confirmed in the Philippines January 30, 2020 and the country was placed under a State of Public Health Emergency on March 8, 2020.

As a measure to limit the spread of the virus, lockdowns or community quarantines have been imposed since March 15, 2020. Despite implementing strict lockdowns, the country still experienced surges in cases, reporting more confirmed cases and deaths than any other Southeast Asian country.

The onslaught of the virus put the country into recession with mass unemployment. The restriction on travel also affected tourism, which is a large industry in the country. 

Over two thirds of the population has been vaccinated in the Philippines.

In July 2023, the State of Public Health Emergency has been lifted throughout the Philippines. All restrictions due to Covid 19 are no longer in effect.

What should you pack for safely traveling in the Philippines?

What do Philippine locals and recent travelers say about visiting the Philippines now?

What is it like to visit the Philippines right now? It’s our goal to provide regular updates here from real people on the ground, to help potential visitors know what to expect. The following are subjective opinions only. Official travel guidance can be found above.

November 2023 – Gladis of Happiness on the Way , Filipina citizen:  “I flew from Frankfurt to Clark International Airport (Philippines) in September and was surprised by the low number of tourists. I’ve traveled around Clark and Manila for a month and most of the businesses like cafes, restaurants and even tours are all back – I love how I was able to see famous spots with less tourists!

Healthcare, testing, and local attractions are fully operational in most cities and touristy towns. Hotels and restaurants provide sanitizers, and staff are vaccinated with open-air setups. Airports in the Philippines have synchronized e-travel for smoother lines. Most popular destinations have maximum tourists now, so booking ahead is advisable to secure your spot.”

June 2023 – Liza of Always in Spain : “I’m in the Philippines for one month (May to June 2023) to visit family and travel around the country.

Tourism in the Philippines is thriving again! Tourist attractions are open without restrictions, tour operators are offering services again, and transportation (air & land) look fully open for domestic travel so it’s easy to get around the country.

Aside from having to complete a declaration upon arrival, things are back to normal in the Philippines. Some people still prefer to mask up (especially indoors) but it’s not obligatory.

Pharmacies are plentiful in the large cities so you have easy access to home testing kits and over-the-counter medication if you need it. If you’re traveling to more remote areas, it’s a good idea to have your own emergency medical kit just in case.”

February 2023 – Kieren of Wales Guidebook , UK traveler:  “My girlfriend and I visited the Philippines for 10 days in February 2023 with a return trip from Bali. Tourism in the Philippines is mostly back to normal. Aside from being asked to wear masks at airports and onboard with some airlines, there were no other Covid requirements or restrictions and I can highly recommend visiting at this time.

Although signage regarding Covid restrictions (such as mask wearing) are still on display across the country, these are rarely enforced. You may still see staff wearing masks in supermarkets and shopping malls. Pharmacies are readily available in most areas frequented by tourists and the level of English is usually enough to get any medicine you need. Chain pharmacies, such as Watsons, are more likely to speak a good level of English.”

October 2022 – Jennifer Terri, Philippines:

September 2022 – Elizabeth, visitor from UK:   “I visited the Philippines for a 3-week trip to explore its top destinations. The locals are still wearing masks, however, it’s a bit more relaxed, especially in the open public area. When you enter an establishment, you will be asked or expected to put on the mask.

Most businesses related to tourism are open or in service such as airlines, hotels, and tour agencies. Locals seems to be getting back on travelling as well, but it seems like the airlines are not well-staffed resulting in long queues, although very little delay.”

July 2022 – Angeline of GoAroundPhilippines.com , resident:  “All tourist destinations in the country are open and locals mostly enjoy them now. It is the best time to visit as there are still few tourists around and you can easily get cheaper rates for hotels and tours as companies need tourists.

The islands and beaches have gone through a bit of a break so they’ve become more vibrant and marine animals are plenty. There are still no long lines or crowds either.”

March 2022 – Camille, resident of the Philippines: “Things are finally the closest it’s been to “back to normal” after two long years of strict quarantine rules. Everything feels much more relaxed and people are happy to go out, dine out, party, and travel. Even though it feels like back to normal, most people still comply with wearing masks almost everywhere so this is something foreigners should expect and be sensitive in following.

Many places still are at limited capacity though, so lines are long and crowds can be packed. As much as possible, we appreciate it when tourists are understanding of any delays or mishaps. There’s a period of adjustment since it’s only been recently that things are as they were before. Many workers have been affected and are now happy to get back to work, so patience and tips are appreciated. At the end of the day, tourism has always played a big part in our economy so you’ll definitely feel welcome.”

July 2021 – Ailene, resident of Manila: “The Philippines does not currently allow tourists to enter the country. Majority of the residents are hesitant to the reopening of the borders to foreign tourists because of the fear that our healthcare system would collapse if there will be a surge in Covid cases. In Metro Manila, people (except children and senior citizens) are free to move within the city as long as the curfew, social distancing, face mask, and face shield rules are observed. Traveling to other places outside Metro Manila is also possible. Travel restrictions are generally being followed. However, there were some instances when people were caught violating the rules such as faking their Covid results, partying, and not following the curfew. Access to healthcare is a little difficult. In some hospitals and clinics, patients without an appointment will not be allowed to enter. But virtual consultation is also available. Getting tested for Covid is easier. People have an option to get tested at clinics, hospitals, drive through testing centers, or at home. Access to local attractions is possible as long as the needed requirements are provided. A negative Covid test is required in some destinations, while a health certificate is enough for some. Right now, the safest and preferred places to travel to are private resorts and outdoor open areas like parks and beaches where interaction with other people can be avoided as much as possible. Restaurants, groceries, and other food service can be accessed easily. Although public transportation is available for travelers, it is safer to travel in private vehicles.”

June 2021 – Tina of https://iwentanyways.com , resident of Philippines: “Many provinces in the country are not yet open to tourism, and those that are already open have requirements that need to be followed. Locals have varying reaction to their place opening up to tourists. Some support the opening due to financial reasons, while those that are not in favor are concerned that these tourists might spread the virus in their place. Travel restrictions are being followed by locals and visitors, but I’ve heard of stories of some people who do not follow it but are able to get away with it. As for the healthcare and testing, most of the hospitals and testing centers are available in the capital cities. Some provinces that have opened for tourism require visitors to register in an app and wait for the approval of their visit before they could travel. This is required for contact tracing purposes.”

We have booked a trip to the Philippines next month. We have not been vaccinated for covid19, Earlier it was mentioned that we had to take a corona test to enter the philippines. I don’t want any surprises, Can you please confirm to me if we need to take a corona test to fly to the Philippines (from Madrid) or if it is therefore not necessary anymore now. In addition, I am also asking for more clarity on the inernal movements.

Hello Falko. Since the State of Public Health Emergency has been lifted in the Philippines, all rules and restrictions due to Covid 19 are no longer in effect. This means that you are no longer required to present a negative Covid test to enter the Philippines. For traveling within the Philippines, restrictions are also no longer in effect. However, it is still advisable to check your destination’s local government unit (LGU) official website or Facebook page for the latest travel guidelines. Hello, I’m a little confused on one issue. I’m a US citizen unvaccinated and would like to fly to the Philippines. I know what tests, etc I need to actually fly to the philippines, but what is not clear to me based on conflicting information is will I be required to take another covid test on arrival if the 24 hour one taken before flight was negative? One thing I don’t want to happen is discover I have to have another one when I arrive as I really hate them since they are so unnecessarily intrusive, and I’ve read some places that you will need a second one on arrival regardless of the results of the preflight test. I would be flying to Cebu. Thank you for your time.

According to the current entry rules , unvaccinated or partially vaccinated “travelers 15 years and older who fail to present a negative pre-departure testing shall be required to undergo a laboratory-based Antigen Test UPON ARRIVAL at the airport.” Therefore, if you can provide a valid and negative pre-departure Covid test when you arrive in the Philippines, then you will no longer have to test upon arrival at the airport.

Is a negative COVID test result required for return travel from the Philippines to the United States?

Hi. Regardless of departure point, test results are not required going to the US, and as of this month (May 2023), noncitizen nonimmigrant air passengers no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated either.

I will be on vacation soon in the Philippines and resorts (specifically at Pico de Loro, Batangas and Los Banos, Laguna) still require a certified negative covid-test for stay. Where can I get this certified covid-19 rapid antigen test?

I am traveling to the Philippines in July 2023. I see that the Philippines currently still requires a negative Antigen Test for entry. Once a traveler has entered the country and wants to travel to different locations (such as Tacloban, Cebu City, Bohol, etc.) does a traveler have to provide a clean test at every domestic airport in the Philippines to board the plane if I stayed at each different location for 3-5 days? I need clarification as the domestic air carriers (Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, etc.) indicate that you need at least a negative Antigen Test to board on their websites. Any comments from recent travelers in the Philippines would be helpful. Thank you

Hi Greg. It is correct that the Philippines still require proof of a negative COVID test for entry if a traveler is unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. For travel within the Philippines, most destination no longer require a negative test for domestic flights. However, please note that some destination may still require a negative test and other documents for domestic travel depending on the local authorities’ regulations. We recommend that you check your destination’s local government unit (LGU) official website or Facebook page for the latest travel guidelines and requirements.

For travel to Japan, you will need to provide a pre-travel COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the country/region of origin. You may check the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs webpage or the U.S. Embassy in Japan webpage for details.

For travel to the Philippines, you will need the follwing: – negative Antigen test certificate from a clinic conducted within 24 hours of departure from the country of origin – complete a BOQ e-Health Declaration Card (e-HDC), including children – passport valid for at least six months at the time of arrival – return or outbound ticket to your country of origin or next country of destination.

Once you’re in the Philippines, the requirements to travel to Boracay are the following: – Tourist Arrival Form – Confirmed Boracay Hotel Booking slip/voucher – Passport (for Foreigners)

Hi Isabel. Thanks for visiting our blog! The current restriction states that foreign nationals (including Balikbayans) visiting the Philippines without a visa must be vaccinated. Unfortunately, you won’t be allowed entry into the Philippines based on the current rules. The same goes for your 4-year-old son since he will follow the rules that are applicable to you. However, if you will enter the Philippines with a visa or if you have double citizenship (Filipino and American) then it’s possible that you and your son may be allowed entry. We recommend that you contact or visit the Philippine Embassy in your area to see if there are any exemptions applicable to you that will allow you to visit the Philippines. Hope this helps.

Thus, the need for a valid return ticket to your country of origin or your next destination dated not more than 30 days from the date of arrival in the Philippines. If you want to stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days, you will need to apply for a Philippine tourist visa. You need to contact the Philippine Embassy or Consulate near you for information on how to apply for a Philippine tourist visa. I hope this helps.

According to the Philippine’s quarantine rules, children below the age of 12 who cannot be vaccinated must follow the quarantine protocols of the parents traveling with them. Since you and your husband are fully vaccinated and do not need to quarantine, your son is not required to quarantine as well. You may also contact the Philippine Bureau of Immigration for more information regarding entry requirements.

Travel to the Philippines My legal wife is an ex-Philippine citizen having been “required” to give it up on becoming a Canadian citizen, more years ago than I’m “allowed to divulge”! Can the hotel be “of our choice” if that hotel provides such facilities, or are their only “designated” hotels to choose from? At the hotel do we have full access to its facilities such as swimming pool etc if open, or are we “imprisioned” in our rooms for the duration?

Post-Quarantine Travel in the Locale Are there any restrictions for “ALL” in moving around the locale to say attend golf courses if open, and can we travel by public transport. Are there any “AGE” restrictions as we are seniors, although the exact ages are a “closely guarded secret”!

Travel to Provences On arrival into Manila can we “immediately” transfer to the domestic airport for travel to the Provences for quarantine, or do we have to quarantine in Manila before moving on?

Fully vaccinated foreign travellers who have been in a green list country for at least 14 days are allowed to enter the Philippines without any problems as long as they quarantine 7 days in an approved facility, right? So for me who live in Italy, the only way I can currently access the Philippines would be to travel to Albania (green list country) right after I get my second dose, stay there 2 weeks and then fly from Albania to the Philippines.

The Philippines’ green lane was created to lessen the quarantine period of fully vaccinated individuals who are allowed to enter in the Philippines. Therefore, it is important to determine first if you belong to any of the traveler categories who can enter the Philippines. For foreign citizens, you must have a valid and existing Philippine visa. If without a visa, you must be a former Filipino or a family member traveling with a former Filipino. You can check the complete details of who can enter the Philippines here .

If you are one of those travelers who are allowed to enter, fully vaccinated, and traveling from Albania or any of the countries in the Philippines’ green list, the quarantine period would only be 7 days.

Hello Cristina! Based on the current Philippine travel rules, a booster is no longer required for entry, therefore, you no longer need to provide a negative Covid test. However, you need to register on the Philippines eTravel website and you can register up to three days in advance of your departure. For Boracay, a filled out tourist arrival form, hotel booking, and passport for foreign tourists are required. I would double-check with the Canadian State Department and/or a travel agent for more specific guidance. It’s my understanding that the age group restrictions don’t apply for entering the country but rather for going out and about once there – so far this has only been relevant to Philippine residents and will likely change with local vaccination rates eventually.

Please note that this is applicable only to permitted foreign nationals. Also, as of today, only US citizens with visa, US citizens who are former Filipinos, and US citizens who are family members and traveling with a Filipino citizen or former Filipino are allowed entry in the Philippines. i don’t know how accurate your info is as i work with a filipino here in the US and he watches Philip news online and told me that if you fly into Cebu which is where i go not Manila that you get a temp check at the airport and only have to quarantine for 1 day not 14 like u said, also can you answer this question. Hi Will. As a general rule, a mandatory quarantine of 7-14 days is required for persons traveling to the Philippines. In the Province of Cebu, it is true that quarantine is no longer a requirement as of March 31, 2021. However, this is only for repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and returning non-OFWs. You can visit the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office page for more information about this.

About traveling to the Philippines without a visa, unfortunately, that has been temporarily suspended because of the pandemic. Please check the Philippine Bureau of Immigration Facebook page for information and updates on who are allowed entry into the Philippines at this time.

Hi Cher. Yes, you still need a confirmed booking at any accredited quarantine hotel in Metro Manila for at least 7 days (or 6 nights) from the date of your arrival. This is to accommodate the schedule of your RT-PCR test (which will be on the 5th day) and the release of the result. Your food during your stay at the hotel will be at your own expense. You may also have food from outside the hotel delivered to your room, but you need to check with the rules and regulations of the hotel first if it is allowed.

If one has had a coronavirus vaccine in the US, can one come to the Philippines without the need to quarantine and have the Covid test? I should have my second round of the Moderna vaccine on March 4th. Could I travel to the Philippines shortly after that time if I have a card proving that I had the vaccine?

That is a good question and I think many are wondering the same thing about other destinations as well. We can’t predict when the Philippines will reopen to travelers, nor what they will choose to require in terms of vaccines. From what I’ve read, I would guess that most destinations will continue to require a Covid test regardless of the vaccine since the timeline for immunity after vaccination is still uncertain.

Hi Ricardo. We cannot predict if you’ll be able to fly into Manila at that time. What we personally are doing is making sure any flight we book is fully refundable, or can at least be changed to a later date without change fees if travel is not allowed for our original flight date. This will depend on the particular airline’s terms and conditions.

Do you know when is the date or anything that the Philippine government is gonna let foreigners for tourism cause I’ve been planning this trip for a year and its getting the people so angry that we cant go to the Philippines and nobody can give me a straight up answer.

Covid is spreading rapidly and nobody is vaccinated there stay home and keep you and the Philippines safer

The Philippines has no intention of opening up to tourism any time soon. The president has said that when the country is between 70 to 80 percent vaccinated it will reopen the country it currently is at 19%. So if you want to take a vacation start thinking of an alternative destination or your going to be waiting for at least a year.

Berencana Liburan ke Filipina, Ketahui 3 Fakta Penting Berikut

KOMPAS.com - Filipina belum menerima kunjungan wisatawan asing, per Desember 2021. Meski begitu, tak menutup kemungkinan kita bisa berkunjung ke negara tetangga tersebut pada 2022.

Jika berencana berkunjung ke Filipina, berikut beberapa hal yang perlu diketahui.

Indonesia masuk kategori hijau

Saat ini, Pemerintah Filipina membagi tiga kategori negara yang diperbolehkan berkunjung ke negaranya, yakni kategori hijau (risiko rendah), kuning (risiko sedang), dan merah (risiko tinggi).

Indonesia saat ini berada pada kelompok kategori hijau.

"Indonesia, masuk dalam kategori hijau. Hanya saja, pemerintah Filipina hingga saat ini belum membuka untuk wisatawan."

"Cuma ada beberapa kategori saja yang dapat masuk ke negara Filipina, salah satunya adalah orang Indonesia yang telah menetap di Filipina," ungkap Sella Utami, Departemen Pariwisata Filipina (PDOT) perwakilan Jakarta, seperti dikutip Kompas.com dari keterangan tertulis, Senin (27/12/2021).

Lebih lengkap, Gugus Tugas Antar-Lembaga Filipina atau Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) merinci tentang klasifikasi tersebut, seperti dilansir CNN Filipina , Senin.

Selain Indonesia, beberapa negara lain yang masuk kategori hijau antara lain Bangladesh, Benin, Butan, Chad, Kongo, Hong Kong, Jepang, Kenya, Kuwait, Liberia, Maroko, Pakistan, Senegal, dan lainnya.

Dijelaskan bahwa terlepas dari status vaksinasi, wisatawan asing yang masuk ke dalam daftar hijau juga harus menunjukkan tes RT-PCR negatif yang diambil 72 jam sebelum keberangkatan dari negara asal.

Wisatawan yang sudah divaksinasi penuh tetap harus menjalani karantina berbasis fasilitas dan menunjukkan RT-PCR negatif pada hari ketiga.

Setelah itu, karantina 10 hari dapat dilanjutkan di rumah.

Wisatawan yang belum divaksinasi atau baru mendapatkan vaksin dosis pertama juga harus menjalani karantina di fasilitas hingga hasil RT-PCR negatif keluar pada hari ketujuh. Setelah itu, karantina 14 hari dapat dilanjutkan di rumah.

Informasi ini penting untuk diketahui, mengingat pemberlakuan karantina dalam satu negara menjadi hal yang harus diketahui oleh wisatawan ketika berkunjung.

"Selain pintu gerbang wisatawan internasional belum dibuka, pemberlakuan karantina pun menjadi salah satu alasan penting wisatawan untuk bepergian ke suatu negara. Ini penting, karena wisatawan akan merasa kurang efektif jika jumlah hari karantina lebih lama dibanding hari untuk mereka menikmati liburan," tambah Sella.

3 Hari Solo Traveling ke Manila, Filipina

Traveling ke Manila, Filipina, bukan lagi angan-angan buat saya. Pengalaman telah mengajarkan bahwa Manila cocok buat kita-kita pemuja pelesiran hemat tapi nikmat.

Saya ke sana cuma habis sekitar SATU JUTA-an untuk 3 Hari 2 Malam. Ini di luar ongkos pesawat, penginapan, dan jajan oleh-oleh, ya.

Waktu itu dapat tiket promo Cebu Pacific Air seharga US$51,13 (700.000an) rute Cengkareng – Manila – Cengkareng. Jarang-jarang bisa dapat harga segitu. Selama di Manila cuma datang ke tempat-tempat mainstream, karena tujuannya memang pingin tahu kotanya seperti apa.

Tips Hemat Traveling ke Manila

Ceritanya traveling ke Manila ini dibagi dalam tiga hari, sesuai durasi saya di sana. Hemat menurut saya, mungkin berbeda dengan teman-teman. Lagian juga, tergantung gaya hidup dan nilai kurs uang ketika traveling .

Manila Hari ke-1

Cebu Air mendarat pagi di Bandara Internasional Ninoy Aquino (NAIA). Lantaran tidak dikejar waktu, saya santai saja berjalan menuju Imigrasi.

Kartu kedatangan akan diberikan ketika masih di dalam pesawat, jadi bisa langsung diisi. Kalau tadi ketiduran, bisa diisi ketika di bagian Imigrasi. Antrean Imigrasinya lumayan panjang, tapi petugasnya nggak banyak tanya.

Money Changer dan Simcard

Begitu keluar dari bagian Imigrasi, berjejer, tuh, money changer dan kios simcard . Tadinya sempat singgah ke Bagian Informasi, tapi petugasnya belum datang.

Saya sudah membeli paket roaming di Indonesia. Bagi yang mau membeli nomor lokal, ada simcard gratis khusus turis. Syaratnya harus isi paket di provider mereka. Harganya, setelah saya hitung-hitung, cukup mahal.

Sebelum keluar areal bandara, saya makan dulu di JolliBee, sekalian mau memecahkan uang besar ke receh. Money changer masih banyak yang tutup. Kalau buka pun, saya ragu mereka mau menerima penukaran uang ke nominal kecil.

Aplikasi Transportasi Lokal

Sambil mikir mau kemana, saya instal aplikasi ANGKAS pakai Wi-Fi bandara. Ini ojek online Filipina. Tarifnya lebih murah dari taksi dan sangat efektif menembus kemacetan kota.

Sebenarnya, GRAB adalah aplikasi transportasi dalam kota yang bany direkomendasikan, tapi adanya cuma GrabCar. Bagi saya yang solo traveling dan uangnya pas-pasan, naik mobil saya anggap mahal meskipun lebih nyaman, kecuali ada teman jalan yang bisa diajak patungan.

Ternyata, tidak semua ponsel bisa mengunduh ANGKAS. Dua orang kenalan baru yang menggunakan iPhone, aplikasinya tidak muncul di AppStore. Entah apa yang harus diubah, mungkin lokasinya. Sementara Android saya lancar-lancar saja.

Btw , saya tahu ANGKAS ini dari riset sebelum berangkat traveling ke Manila. Kalau sekarang, bisa jadi, sekarang pilihan ojolnya makin banyak.

Sightseeing

Dari bandara, saya langsung menuju INTRAMUROS. Tadinya pingin early check-in , tapi tanggung. Lagian, saya tidak tahu berapa jauh jarak dari dan ke hostel tempat saya menginap.

Bandara di Manila mengakomodasi semua transportasi umum. Ada banyak cara menuju pusat kota, dari bus, taksi, jeepney, sampai ojek. Tidak perlu bingung selama tahu nama tujuannya.

Selama di INTRAMUROS saya memilih jalan kaki untuk mengitarinya. Kalau lelah, teman-teman bisa sewa semacam becak dengan tarif 150-600PH.

Tidak semua bangunan saya masuki. Saya pilih yang gratisan, kecuali Fort Santiago yang punya banyak kisah. Harga tiket masuknya 75PH. Ada banyak yang bisa dilihat dari tempat ini, bukan sekadar reruntuhan benteng.

Dari sini, barulah saya ke penginapan. Saya sengaja coba naik MRT dan LRT. Stasiun MRT terdekat adalah United Nation. Tinggal jalan lurus dari gerbang INTRAMUROS, sekitar 30 menit.

Sayangnya, saya salahlalu dilanjut jalan  baca petunjuk arah menuju hostel, dan turun di stasiun yang salah, sehingga lumayan lama mutar-mutar jalan kakinya.

Btw, saya kapok naik kereta di Manila. Penumpangnya mpet-mpetan. Tapi tiketnya memang super murah, 13 – 20 Peso. Namun, ini jadi pengalaman selama traveling ke Manila. Jadi tahu, kereta di Jakarta jauh lebih nyaman.

Saya menginap di Z Hostel di daerah Makati. Saya pesan online lewat booking.com. Bagian lobinya cukup luas, dan menu sarapannya ada beberapa pilihan. Ada rooftop bar juga yang tiap sore memberikan koktail gratis buat para tamu yang menginap.

Kamar mandi ada di tiap kamar. Toiletnya ada semprotan, alias ada airnya. By the way , toilet di Manila jarang-jarang yang pakai semprotan.

Di sekitar hostel bertebaran tempat makan, dan beberapa hostel lain. Ada beberapa restoran halal, salah satunya Restauran Hossein’s.

Menunya khas Persia, Arab, Mediterania, dan India. harganya cukup mahal bagi saya, tapi porsinya jumbo. Untunglah kemaren makannya berdua kenalan baru, satu kamar yang sama-sama orang Indonesia. Kami pesan satu makanan, tapi minumnya masing-masing.

Manila Hari ke-2

Setelah sarapan, tujuan pertama adalah RIZAL PARK. Rupanya, sudah saya lewati ketika kemarin jalan dari INTRAMUROS ke stasiun MRT UN. Berasa rugi, karena harusnya bisa diselesaikan kemarin.

Saya cukup beruntung. Pas turun dari ojek, saya lihat sedang ada pertukaran petugas, tepat jam 10 pagi, di monumen.

Kalau ke sini, jangan lupa main ke seberangnya. Di sana berdiri tugu Kilometer Nol Manila.

Tidak jauh dari RIZAL PARK ini ada NATIONAL MUSEUM dan taman kota yang sangat luas. CHINATOWN juga tidak jauh dari sini.

Catat! tempat-tempat tersebut berdekatan, dan bisa dikunjungi dalam satu hari dengan berjalan kaki.

Tadinya, dari RIZAL PARK, saya mau lanjut ke BGC. Namun, setelah bertanya cara ke sana sama satpam di JolliBee, sarannya tetap naik harus taksi. Saya maunya naik kendaraan umum biasa.

Terus nanya lagi, tujuan turis yang terdekat apa. Dijawablah Chinatown.

Awalnya tidak minat ke sana, karena mikirnya Chinatown, ya gitu-gitu aja, banyak ornamen orinetal. Tapi karena satpamnya bilang cukup sekali naik jeepney ke sana, niat saya langsung berubah.

Salah satu tujuan saya ke Filipina ini adalah pingin naik jeepney, seperti warga lokal. Harus bangetlah nyobain naik angkot khas Filipino ini  kalau sedang traveling ke Manila.

Bagian belakangnya lebih panjang dari angkot. Ongkosnya 9PH jauh dekat. Cara bayarnya, langsung ke supir. Kalau duduknya di belakang, uangnya dioper, minta tolong penumpang lain.

Kalau ada kembalian, uangnya juga bakal dioper balik dari supir ke penumpang. Kalau berhenti, entah bilang apa, soalnya saya selalu turun bareng penumpang lain. Bisa jadi, ketok atap, kali, ya.

Di CHINATOWN, saya cuma mutar-mutar, melihat sisi kumuhnya Manila. Konon, waktu yang tepat ke sini itu adalah pada pagi atau sore hari karena ramai pedagang makanan. Nah , saya nggak yakin bakal ketemu makanan halal.

Setelah itu saya lanjut ke Mall of Asia. Naik UV Express yang mangkal di pelatarannya LUCKY CHINATOEN MALL. Kendaraan umum ini semacam mobil Carry putih. Tiketnya 45PH dan ber-AC. Jeleknya, kendaraan baru bergerak setelah penumpang penuh.

Di mal yang sempat menjadi mal terbesar di dunia itu, saya cuma window shopping . Sama sekali nggak minat belanja, cuma makan doang.

Sorenya jalan kaki ke bagian belakang mal menuju MANILA BAY. Berbaur dengan warga yang menunggu matahari tenggelam. Ada banyak permainan dan jajanan di sini.

Bisa juga naik perahu untuk keliling perairannya. Namanya Cruise by the Bay . Tarifnya 180PH per orang.

Rute pulangnya lumayan panjang menuju Makati. Praktisnya naik taksi, tapi karena mau hemat, saya lebih naik transportasi publik, semacam mikrolet. Lalu disambung jeepney, dan ujung-ujungnya Angkas.

Sebelum naik angkot dari mal itu, saya bilang dulu tujuan saya ke supir dan orang-orang yang duduk-duduk di dekat pangkalan angkot. Saya pikir, bakal diturunkan dekat makati, ternyata masih jauh.

Positive thinking saja. Nungguin jeepney juga lama banget. Begitu ada, rebutan sama penumpang lain. Untung sampai. Kalau diingat-ingat, entah bagaimana akhirnya saya bisa kembali selamat ke penginapan.

Manila Hari ke-3

Masih ada waktu sebelum pulang nanti malam. Pagi ini saya menuju SALCEDO MARKET di daerah Makati. Sekalian check-out , dari hostel saya, lagi-lagi, saya pesan ANGKAS.

Pasar ini adanya cuma setiap Sabtu pagi. Asyik buat kulineran atau belanja bahan masakan. Pilihan makanannya cukup banyak, dan tersedia tempat duduk dan meja.

Tidak menyangka ketemu makanan berlogo halal di sini. Kalaupun tidak ada teman-teman bisa jajan seafood atau makanan vegetarian di pasar ini.

Setelah itu, saya ke BGC ( Bonifacio Global City ). Saya suka banget sama kawasan bisnis modern ini, bersih, tertata, dan lengang. Isinya gedung-gedung pencakar langit. Jomplang parah sama sudut-sudut Manila yang kabel-kabelnya pada semrawutan.

Dari sini, saya lanjut ke Venice Grand Canal Mall. Kata peta, mal ini masih berada dalam kawasan BGC, jadi mikirnya bisa berjalan kaki ke sana. Nyatanya di Taguig. Jauuuh… Mending naik angkutan umum.

Bela-belain ke sini, tuh , cuma mau melihat kanal ala-ala di Venice. Nggak naik, sih, karena tarifnya di luar budget untuk sebuah kanal buatan. Lagi-lagi, saya cuma makan doang di mal ini.

Setelah mutar-mutar di mal yang tidak terlalu luas itu, saya bergegas ke bandara karena khawatir kejebak macet dan padatnya penumpang di bandara. Sekitar jam 4 sore waktu Manila, saya pesan ANGKAS. Alhasil, nggak sampai setengah jam sudah sampai di terminal keberangkatan.

Irit banget, pokoknya, pengeluaran saya selama solo backpacking di Manila gara-gara ANGKAS ini. Pengendaranya sopan-sopan, dan kebanyakan bisa ber-Bahasa Inggris. Mereka selalu menawarkan apakah mau pakai masker dan penutup rambut kepada penumpang.

Rata-rata semua Filipino yang saya jumpai bisa berkomunikasi dalam Bahasa Inggris. Sama sekali tidak ada kendala soal bahasa selama saya keliling Manila.

Sebelum traveling ke Manila, rupiah sudah saya tukar menjadi peso. Saya cuma bawa 3500PH, atau sekitar 1 jutaan. Saya yakin cukup, karena hanya untuk jajan dan transportasi dalam kota. Sedangkan biaya pesawat dan hostel sudah saya bayar.

Hitung-hitung uang sisa, lumayan juga. Biar nggak rugi, saya tukarkan semua ke dolar Amerika. Dapatlah US$23. Lumayan, buat disimpang, nambahin dana backpacking selanjutnya.

Ahaha, di Manila ada juga ya angkot yang baru mau jalan kalau penumpangnya sudah penuh 🙂

Penuhnya cepat, kok. Rutenya lumayan jauh, mungkin. Angkas adanya cuma motor. Nggak tahu nanti-nantinya.

Saya sembari lihat tempat-tempat yang Mbak Inda tunjukkan, di peta. Baru ngeh saya bahwa bandara Ninoy Aquino ini mepet dengan pusat kota. Berarti deket dong ya kalau dari pusat kota ke bandara, nggak macet?

Lumayan macet, kayaknya kalau naik roda 4. Saya kemaren roda 2, jadi bisa nyalip-nyalip.

Ini sih lagi beruntung, 700 ribu tiket ke luar negeri. Masih mahal Jakarta-Medan. Padahal masih dalam negeri.

Jadi sadar kalau jalan-jalan ke luar negeri zaman now, bisa dibilang terjangkau.

Ngomong-ngomong, tema WordPress yang dipakai ini, awalnya dikira Twenty Sixteen loh. Ternyata bukan. Mirip ternyata.

Aku gagal ke Medan karena tiket pesawatnya, loh. Wuih, tampaknya ahli WordPress, ya.

Wah rekomendasi nih kalo mau ke Manila dan Filipina. Oh ada banyak juga yaa kak resto halalnya disanan? kalo Masjid atau musolah banyak nggak sih kak? hehe

Aku gak nyari kemarin. Tapi banyak lihat yang pakai jilbab. Katanya sih, ada perkampungan muslim. Entah di mana.

Seru banget jalan²nya dan mur-mer yah. Apalagi makannya sering seporsi berdua. Haha… Aku suka deh jalan² yg model walking tour gini. Lebih banyak yg bisa dilihat. Ditunggu lagi kisahnya…

Intramuros sama Rizal Park memang terletak berdekatan, kak. Bulan depan aku ke sana, naik Cebu juga berkat tergoda promo haha. Jadi udah mulai kepoin tempat-tempat wisatanya.

LRT MRT di Manila memang terkenal dengan kepadatannya, kak. Gojek katanya mau expand ke Filipina. Di Manila jarang motor kali ya, makanya cuma ada GrabCar. Di Thailand juga gitu.

Rupanya toilet di Filipina sama kayak di SG, Thailand, Myanmar ya. Gak pake watergun. Btw kayaknya Chinatown belum sisi kumuhnya Manila. Yang lebih kumuh banyak

Kemana-mana pakai ojek soalnya. Kalau taxi, pasti nambah, kayaknya.

Waah Mayan banget ya mbak dapat pp Cengkareng Manila cuma 700 ribuan. Hemat juga disana cuma sejutaan. Tapi buatku tetep saja semua harus dikalikan 5. Hiks gak jadi hemat dooong. Aku gak bisa traveling sendiri harus bawa semua pasukan.

Ba yakan naik ojek, Mbak. Klo keluarga, ya, mending taxi atau Grab.

Manila emang super hemat. Saya aja sampe kaget pas beli tas di Kultura cuma PHP 100 aja, waktu itu sekitar IDR 25rb. Gila sampe mastiin berkali-kali nilai tukarnya bener ato ga hahaha..

Wah, lumayan hemat ya kalo gitu ya, 1 juta udah untuk 3 malam. ini kan berarti transportasi + uang makan ini segitu yaa.

Pun, asyiknya lama acara diperpanjang menjadi 7 hari, dari yang sebelumnya hanya 2 hari perjalanan saja.

Filipina, Negara Asean Keempat Yang Bisa Kunjungi Untuk Liburan Ala Backpacker!

Mungkin kalau tidak di undang, Philipines ini akan menjadi negara Asean terakhir yang bakal saya jelajahi.

Alasannya sih karena lokasinya yang berada di tengah – tengah pasifik, dan karakternya yang berupa kepulauan.

Tahu sendiri kan, negara kepulauan semacam Philipines dan Indonesia akan memelukan waktu lama untuk di eksplore :)

Sekilas, negara Filipina terdiri dari sekitar 7000 lebih pulau yang terbagi menjadi tiga gugusan kepulauan utama, yaitu Luzon (dimana Manila berada), Visayas dengan kota terbesar Cebu dan Mindanau di bagian selatan.

Agak mirip dengan Indonesia ya?Cuma NKRI punya lebih banyak punya pulau dari pada negara yang ada di tepi Samudera Pasifik itu.

Kok poto-potonya bagus ya? Padahal setahu saya Philipine itu jauh lebih busuk dari Jakarta loh. Kalau nggak melipir ke pinggiran nggak bakal nemu tempat bagus, emang sih banyak pulau sama pantai, tapi mainlandnya lebih berantakan dari Jakarta

mirip seperti indonesia juga sih, namanya juga asean jadi ada kemiripan lah :D

dua hari di filipina, destinasi mereka memang masih kalah sama indonesia, tapi cara mereka mengemasnya, indonesia kalah jauh :) terus law enforcement atau hukum yang menjaga agar destinasi wisatanya tetep terjaga, bener – bener ditegakkan. paling tidak itu yang saya temui di di palawan. memang kita punya segalanya, tapi kalau tidak dimanfaatkan dengan baik gimana? analoginya, emas akan tetap berupa pasir kalau tidak di olah. kira2 begitu.

Itu warna airnya emang beneran begitu ya Mas? Cakep banget yaa… Jadi kepengen nyebur. Hehehe…

Saya sendiri masih sedikit trauma karena pernah kena palak di Manila. Gara2 kejadian itu, sekarang saya kalo traveling selalu bawa pisau army. Sebaiknya pemerintah Filipina selain memajukan pariwisata, juga harus meningkatkan rasa aman buat para turis :D

Aslinya agak gelap dikit sih, over saturated kayaknya. tapi bagian dalam gua nya emang keren sih ^^ Entah, kalau keamanan kurang tau juga, tapi sering lihat penjaga full equip disini. Kadang ada yang bawa pistol atau shotgun santai2 di depan bank…

iya tinggal pake passport aja cukup. tinggal bilang aja kalau mau menginap di teman. tapi paling ya ditanya tanya. kalau mau gak ditanya tanya booking hotel aja 1-2 hari, sisanya nginap di temen.

Pagi hari setelah kamu selesai sarapan selanjutnya bisa langsung check-out dari hotel sekitar pukul 09.00 atau 10.00. Kemudian, bisa langsung ke Lucky Chinatown Mall dan Tutuban Central Mall. Lokasi kedua pusat perbelanjaan ini hanya sekitar 2-3 km saja.

Sorenya kamu bisa langsung menuju bandara untuk melakukan penerbangan pulang. Kamu bisa memilih penerbangan sekitar pukul 19.00 dan akan sampai pada pagi hari di Indonesia.

• Pelamar yang akan memulai program sarjana atau magister atau mereka yang sudah memulai dan memiliki sisa minimal satu tahun akademik penuh.
• Minimal. Skor CGPA atau IPK 3.25/4.0 atau setara dengan rekam jejak akademik yang sangat baik dan aktif dalam kegiatan kurikuler.
• Pelamar tidak boleh menjadi penerima beasiswa lain yang memiliki kewajiban kontrak seperti jaminan layanan.

2. Beasiswa SEARCA - DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme

Beasiswa ini bisa dipilih calon mahasiswa S2 dan S3. Pendaftaran beasiswa ini dibuka pada awal tahun atau sekitar bulan Januari.

Meski saat ini pendaftaran sudah ditutup, calon mahasiswa bisa melengkapi persyaratan yang ada sembari menunggu tahun depan.

Sementara untuk kampus di Filipina yang dapat didanai beasiswa ini adalah University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Philippines untuk prodi Ilmu Lingkungan dan Teknologi Pangan.
