Ahead of last night’s gig, fans had noted that the date – formatted as 8/9 in the US – was a possible clue regarding ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’. Before sharing the news onstage, Swift teased: “And so now here we are on the last night of the US leg of the ‘Eras Tour’. In the eighth month of the year, on the ninth day…”

The original edition of ‘1989’ came out in 2014, and saw Swift adopt an ’80s-inspired synth-pop sound. It includes the hit singles ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Style’, all of which remain staples of the artist’s live show.

Swift has already released ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ , ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’ and most recently ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ . The re-recording project will see the singer reclaim ownership of her first six studio records, spanning 2006’s self-titled to ‘Reputation’  (2017).

Back in 2021, Swift shared ‘Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)’ from the forthcoming rework of ‘1989’. It came after the song appeared in a trailer for the DreamWorks film Spirit Untamed . She then dropped the revamped ‘This Love’ in May 2022.

Taylor Swift announces "1989 (Taylor's Version)" is "on its way": "My most favorite re-record I've ever done"

By Li Cohen

August 10, 2023 / 9:46 AM EDT / CBS News

Fans have been patiently waiting for another "Taylor's Version" recording – and now, it's not just in their wildest dreams. Taylor Swift announced on Wednesday during her final Eras Tour show in Los Angeles that her version of the album "1989" is just months away from coming out.

"Since I was a teenager, I wanted to own my music," she told her fans at SoFi Stadium, according to People . "The way to do it was to re-record my albums, and the way that you have embraced ... that you have celebrated, that you really decided that it was your fight too, and that you were 100% behind me ... I will never stop thanking you for that."

Then came the big news.

"There's something I've been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously, embarrassingly long time. And instead of telling you about it, I think I'll just sort of show you," she said, revealing a massive album banner on the screen behind her. The announcement was met with deafening screams and cheers from those who had been waiting for the next installment of her re-recordings.

Shortly after the news was announced at the concert, Swift confirmed the details on her social media accounts.

"Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor's Version) is on its way to you soon," she wrote, saying the album is one that "changed my life in countless ways."

"To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I've ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane," she wrote. "I can't believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!"

The Final Night Of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Los Angeles, CA

So just when is Taylor Swift's new album coming out? October 27, she says, and it's already available for pre-order.

Swift has been on a mission since 2019 to re-record her first six albums so that she owns the rights. That journey started after talent agent Scooter Braun got the rights to her originally recorded albums after his company acquired the Big Machine Label Group, the owner of those albums. Swift previously said she had no idea of the deal until "it was announced to the world," and because of that, she never had the chance to buy back her music.

Scott Borchetta, CEO of Big Machine Records, disputed Swift's account about how she found out about the deal. But that didn't stop her telling " CBS Sunday Morning " that same year that she would "absolutely" be redoing her past music.

So far, Swift has released half of those six albums — "Fearless," "Red" and "Speak Now" — all of which come with the "Taylor's Version" title. After "1989," which originally came out in 2014, is released in October, the remaining albums will be her debut 2006 album "Taylor Swift" and 2017's "Reputation."

Along with the original songs, re-recorded, the albums have come with "from the vault" tracks that were never released, as well as new album art.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift wrapped up her six-night stint at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. on Wednesday (Aug. 9), marking the end of the first leg of her North American tour. True to form, the superstar pulled out all the stops for the special night; in addition to her customary surprise songs, Swift dropped one major announcement that, judging by the explosive reaction, apparently made the sold-out crowd’s Wildest Dreams come true.

“Welcome to the Eras Tour!” said Swift early in the show, which boasted opening acts Haim and GAYLE as well as celebrity attendees including Adam Sandler and Swift’s longtime friend Emma Stone (spotted in the same section as her La La Land director, Damien Chazelle).

“I’m not sure if you know this, but if you didn’t know this, you have decided to attend this tour on not only the last night of our six-night run at SoFi Stadium, [and] you have also decided to attend this concert on the very last show of the American run of the Eras Tour,” she added. “Because of this decision you have made to attend this concert, you’re gonna have to deal with my emotions. I don’t know if you’ve heard about this or not, but I have a lot of them.”

To be sure, Swift took the fans assembled at SoFi through all the emotions, including by busting out two new surprise songs: a guitar rendition of “New Romantics” and, on piano, “New Year’s Day.”

You can read more about both of those performances — in addition to four additional highlights from the climactic Night 6 show — below.

'1989 (Taylor’s Version)' Announcement Blows the Roof Off

Credit where credit is due: Swift knows how to work a crowd into a frenzy. Just prior to performing her two surprise songs, the singer took a moment to rev up the crowd for an announcement that had been widely rumored: that the next “Taylor’s Version” release would be her 2014 all-pop blockbuste r , 1989 .

“The last time that I was so pleasantly surprised by some stuff that you guys did was when I announced that I was going to be re-recording my first six albums, and that is something that I expected to be just a ‘me’ thing, just a personal thing. Since I was a teenager, I wanted to own my music,” Swift began, eliciting a roar of excitement from the crowd. “And the way to do it was to re-record my albums and call them ‘Taylor’s Version.’ The way that you have embraced that, and the way that you have celebrated that, you really decided that it was your fight too and that you were 100% behind me and if I cared about it, you cared about it. I will never stop thanking you for that. It was so generous of you to care about something that I cared about.

“And so now here we are on the last night of the U.S. leg of the Eras Tour in the eighth month of the year on the ninth day [of the month]. You might have noticed there are some new outfits in the show,” she continued, tipping her hat to the succession of previously-unseen blue costumes she donned starting with her performance of “Enchanted” and leading all the way up to the big announcement. “And there’s something that I’ve been planning for a really, really, really, ridiculously embarrassingly long time. And I think instead of just telling you about it, I think I just should sort of show you something.”

Cue the wind-whipped 1989 (Taylor’s Version) logo, beamed larger than life on the stadium screens along with its official release date: October 27. Judging by the deafening roar of the crowd, we could well be looking at the biggest-selling Taylor’s Version album to date when the set drops this fall.

Giving the Crew Their Due

Earlier this month, it was reported that Swift gave $100,000 bonuses to each one of the roughly 50 truck drivers on her tour, in addition to bonuses in unknown amounts to other crew members, including band members, dancers, caterers and lighting and sound technicians. On Wednesday night, the star paid further tribute to those unsung staffers by delivering an impassioned onstage shoutout near the top of the show.

“This has been the most extraordinary, fun, wonderful, magical experience of my entire life being on this tour with these people on this stage, and I just was hoping that for a second, we could think about the fact that there are hundreds of people on this tour,” Swift said. “My amazing crew members, the people who loaded the stage…[who have come] across the country away from their families to put on this show for us. So I would like to take a moment, if we could all please applaud the Eras Tour crew.”

The audience, it goes without saying, obliged.

Haim-ing It Up

Haim is a fairly recent addition to the Eras Tour, with the sister trio having jumped aboard as openers beginning with the shows at Lumen Field in Seattle, followed by Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara and, yes, all six nights at SoFi. Joining Swift for another delicious rendition of “No Body, No Crime” on Wednesday, Este, Daniella and Alana made the most of the moment and enjoyed a crackling onstage chemistry with the pop megastar, who called the siblings her “besties” earlier in the show (yes, they’re really friends ). The playful energy exhibited by the foursome during Swift’s set on Wednesday brought a welcome looseness to the otherwise tightly-choreographed show.

Another Epic Standing Ovation

The Wednesday night audience seemed determined to one-up the nearly eight-minute standing ovation Swift received the night prior — and I suspect they may have succeeded, as this standing “O” (which again followed her performance of “Champagne Problems”) seemed to stretch on even longer. Once again, Swift mugged like a pro throughout, looking around in astonishment, taking out her in-ears and, at one point, sitting at the piano and burying her head in her arms.

“Boy, I’m never gonna forget that you just did that,” said Swift later as she tried to break through the noise. “I’m never gonna forget it. Thank you. That was crazy. That’s such a — what are you doing? People have emotions. You’re playing with them right now. I love you so much.”

'New Romantics' Closes the Loop on '1989' Eras Tour Renditions

Following Swift’s earth-shaking 1989 (Taylor’s Version) reveal, she launched into the first of the night’s two surprise songs: an acoustic-guitar rendition of the synth-driven banger “New Romantics,” which appeared as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of 1989 . Notably, “Romantics” was also the lone 1989 track Swift hadn’t yet performed on the Eras Tour, making for a nice bookend to the Taylor’s Version announcement that directly preceded it.

'New Year’s Day' Gets New Life

For her second surprise song of the night, Swift took to the piano to perform a gorgeous rendition of “New Year’s Day” — the final track on Reputation and, notably, one that Swift has rarely performed live (on a melancholy note, the song, which boasts the lyric “Please don’t ever become a stranger,” has also long been rumored to be about Swift’s now-ex, Joe Alwyn). Coming on the heels of the frenzied 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement, the performance marked a much-needed energy break for the crowd, and a noticeable hush descended over the stadium as the 70,000-strong audience drank in lyrics that seemed to speak to the moment: “Hold on to the memories/They will hold on to you.”

Taylor Swift announces ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ at Eras Tour show in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Taylor Swift closed the 2023 U.S. leg of her landmark Eras Tour Wednesday night in Los Angeles in a big way, announcing the fourth edition of her re-recording project: “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

After playing a few tracks from her “1989” era live, including an abridged take on “Bad Blood,” the pop superstar approached the center of the stage with an acoustic guitar in hand and suggested to the audience that she had been working on something big.

“Instead of just, like, telling you about it, I think I’ll just sort of show you,” she told the crowd as the screen illuminated behind her. “’1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ available Oct. 27!” she cheered, pointing out that she was revealing this on the eighth month of the year and the ninth day — a numerical clue.

Then she launched into a surprise performance of the ascendant “1989” track “New Romantics” and the “Reputation”-era piano ballad “New Year’s Day” for the first time during her world tour.

Just last month, Swift released her re-recording of “Speak Now” and soon claimed the record for the woman with the most No. 1 albums in history. The “Taylor’s Version” projects were sparked by music manager Scooter Braun’s purchase and subsequent sale of her early catalog.

Beyond the breaking news, across more than three-and-a-half hours at SoFi Stadium, Swift offered fans a bevy of career-spanning tracks — less a greatest hits collection, and more a live celebration of an artist in her veterancy.

Choreographed easter eggs were frequent. Swift would mimic dance moves from her iconic music videos and crack jokes about her feelings and “women-splaining to men how to apologize to women.”

Openers — and “besties,” as Swift described them — HAIM joined her on stage for the “evermore” cut “no body, no crime.”

Across more than 40 tracks reflecting 17 years of recorded music, it was as if the ground shook with the rapturous sound of 70,000 fans scream-singing along to her hits and deep cuts alike. This was Taylor Swift’s house — filled with fans in light Taylor Swift cosplay (pink dresses for her 2019 album “Lover,” black leather and snakeskin prints for 2017’s “Reputation,” sequins and A-line skirts for 2014’s “1989,” and so on).

Before launching into her “1989” era tracks, Swift performed an emotive single from her “folkore” album, “cardigan.” “When you are young, they assume you know nothing,” she sang, contorting the line in the third verse, “I knew everything when I was young.”

For a performance predicated on returning to the past as well as celebrating the present, it felt like a mission statement. Throughout her career and her many sonic experiments, Swift has been a keen observer of human condition and heartbreak. Even in those early songs about fantasies and fairytales, she demonstrates a kind of pragmatic wisdom. It is why a song she wrote when she was 16 can elicit the same sort of response as one written in her 30s.

And in a summer stacked with superstar tours celebrating giant new releases — like the larger-than-life experiences of Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” World Tour and Drake’s 56-date “It Was All a Blur” tour — Taylor Swift’s lookback Eras Tour stands proudly among them.

For fans who desire their beloved artist play the hits — she certainly delivered.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is a cultural phenomenon. With unprecedented demand, smashed world records and a staggering 44-song setlist, the Eras tour spans Swift’s entire discography, chronicling all the various eras and albums of the Midnights singer’s career.

From the mad scramble to buy tickets that crashed Ticketmaster’s website to guest appearances from the likes of Taylor Lautner, Joey King, Haim and Phoebe Bridgers, Swift brings new surprises for her fans at each stop.

As the first round of Swift’s Eras Tour approaches its last dates in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter has compiled the biggest highlights from the tour so far.

Fans Crash Ticketmaster Presale

A ticketmaster website

Before the Eras Tour even began, it was making history. During the rush to buy tickets after five-plus years of waiting, the retailer site Ticketmaster crumbled, with many experiencing multiple hour-long waits and the majority of fans not being able to secure tickets. According to Ticketmaster, the demand was unprecedented and led to no tickets being available as a part of the general sale. Ticket prices soared above $1,000 for the cheapest seats on the resale market, leading to congressional hearings that included more than a few tongue-in-cheek Swift references.

"22" Hat Giveaways — Selena Gomez’s Sister, Kobe Bryant’s Daughter

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift (L) and NBA player Kobe Bryant speak onstage during The 1989 World Tour Live In Los Angeles at Staples Center on August 21, 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

It’s a nightly ritual at the Eras Tour for Swift to gift her black fedora hat to one lucky fan in the audience during her performance of Red hit song “22.” At an Arlington, Texas, show on April 1, Swift stopped to say hello to Selena Gomez’s 9-year-old sister, Gracie, who was in attendance with the Only Murders in the Building star, to exchange the hat for a friendship bracelet. Similarly, during her Thursday night show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the Eras performer shared a sweet moment with Kobe Bryant’s daughter Bianka Bryant. The pair hugged as Swift placed the hat on Bianka’s head.

In 2015, the late Lakers legend joined Swift onstage at the then-Staples Center during her 1989 tour, surprising her with a championship-style banner in honor of her record-breaking 16 sold-out shows at the arena.

'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' Announced in Nashville

At her first Nashville stop on May 5, Swift treated fans to the highly anticipated announcement that album rerelease Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) would drop on July 7. As expected, the artist teased the announcement days before the show, posting a purple heart emoji on social media. Before launching into Speak Now track and surprise song of the night “Sparks Fly,” Swift debuted a first look at the album cover on the big screens of Nissan Stadium, while purple lights lit up the Nashville’s Cumberland River bridge.

“You know how I love to plan things, and how I love to surprise you with the things I plan,” she said onstage. “It’s my love language with you — I plot, I scheme, I plan and I get to tell you about it.”

It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆) I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. Haim Takes the Stage for "No Body, No Crime"

Este Haim, Taylor Swift, Danielle Haim and Alana Haim perform onstage during Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at Levi's Stadium on July 28, 2023 in Santa Clara, California.

Swift’s real-life besties from sibling trio band Haim joined the Speak Now singer onstage in Seattle on July 22. Together, the friends performed their Evermore collab “No Body, No Crime,” marking the first live performance of the song on the Eras Tour. With the girl band announced as one of the opening acts for the tour, fans expected Haim to appear at least once to perform alongside Swift.

Ice Spice Collabs With Swift on "Karma" Remix

Ice Spice and Taylor Swift perform onstage during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at MetLife Stadium on May 27, 2023 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

On the day she released the Midnights album extended version The Til Dawn Edition , Swift brought out one of her newest collaborators Ice Spice onto New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium stage. The rapper, who features on a remix edition of Midnights hit song “Karma,” joined Swift onstage to perform her verse and close out the show for three nights in a row.

Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift perform onstage during night two of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at Nissan Stadium on May 06, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.

Across the Nashville, Philadelphia, Massachusetts and New Jersey legs of the tour, Phoebe Bridgers joined Swift as not only an opening act, but also a stage partner. With acoustic guitars in hand, Bridgers and Swift took to the Eras stage multiple times to perform their fan-favorite vault track from Red (Taylor’s Version) , “Nothing New.” On Bridgers’ final night on the tour at MetLife, the friends shared heartfelt goodbyes on stage. “You are my hero,” Bridgers told Swift onstage, with Swift responding: “Thank you for being the friend that you’ve been to me.”

“Long Live” Is Added to the Set List

Taylor Swift performs onstage during "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at SoFi Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Inglewood, California.

After the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , fan-favorite song “Long Live” off the album entered the set list. Presumably, until that point Swift had previously avoided performing too many songs off of Speak Now so as not to promote any tracks owned by Scooter Braun.

"I Can See You" Video Drops With Special Guest Appearances: Taylor Lautner, Presley Cash and Joey King

(L-R) Presley Cash, Taylor Swift, Joey King and Taylor Lautner speak onstage for night one of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on July 07, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The hit single off Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was the new “From the Vault” track “I Can See You,” which became a radio hit and charted on Billboard. To announce the music video she directed for the track, Swift brought out the video’s stars, including ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner along with Presley Cash and Joey King, on stage at the Eras Tour in Kansas City. Lautner performed a backflip, a nod to his scene with Swift in the 2010 film Valentine’s Day. “He and his wife have become some of my closest friends, and it’s very convenient because we all share the same first name,” said Swift onstage during the video announcement.

Two Surprise Songs at Each Show

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour

Every single stop of the tour, Taylor Swift has performed two surprise songs that are unique to that tour stop, only repeating a handful of tracks from amongst her vast discography. Fans have tracked the songs online via Twitter — even maintaining complex spread sheets — hoping to get one of their favorites that isn’t a part of the main set list as a “surprise song.” Highlights have included “Hits Different,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “Our Song,” “Tim McGraw” and many more.

Taylor Swift Fans Cause an Earthquake

Guests attend the "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at SoFi Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Inglewood, California.

At the Eras Tour stop in Seattle, fans partied so hard they caused the equivalent of a small earthquake . This rivaled Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch’s “Beast Quake” from 2011, thought Swift came out as the clear winner when measured on the Richter scale.

Taylor Swift Announces ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’

Taylor Swift performs onstage of "Taylor Swift The Eras Tour"

On the last night of the first leg of her U.S. tour, Swift revealed that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will release Oct. 27. Throughout her performance at sixth night of Eras Tour shows at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, the singer teased the announcement by wearing several blue outfits to celebrate the occasion. Following the announcement, fans were treated to 1989 track “New Romantics.” The rerecorded version will feature 21 songs, including five previously unreleased songs from The Vault as described on Swift’s website.

“Surprise!! 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is on its way to you,” Swift wrote on social media. “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th. To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

Taylor Swift is electric at final Eras concert in LA: 'She's the music industry right now'

Portrait of Charles Trepany

INGLEWOOD, Calif. − Tens of thousands of sequined young people sing and chant in unison. Many cry, others scream uncontrollably. All eyes are trained on the woman in the center, the person many credit with changing their lives for the better.

No, it's not a cult or a religious revival (though you might be forgiven for thinking so). It's the final show of the first leg of Taylor Swift's Eras tour , the culmination of a monumental musical odyssey both for the singer and the more than 2 million fans who attended − and one sure to go down in music history.

Over the past five months, Swift has performed her over three-hourlong set of nearly 45 songs despite a Ticketmaster debacle , pouring rain , a rumored break-up , a rumored new relationship and another rumored breakup . She had a heartwarming moment with Kobe Bryant's daughter , gave life-changing $100K bonuses to her truck drivers , set the record for No. 1 albums by a female artist , boosted the economy according to the Federal Reserve , might become the first artist to have a tour gross over $1 billion and perhaps single-handedly brought more sequins to football stadiums across America than any other person in history.

And Swift shows no signs of slowing down. During her last performance at SoFi Stadium in Southern California Wednesday night, she announced − to the delight of thousands of attendees − her next album rerecording: 2014's "1989," home to her hits "Shake It Off," "Blank Space" and "Welcome to New York."

“Here we are, on the last night of the U.S. leg of the Eras tour, in the eighth month of the year, on the ninth day (of the month)," Swift said to frenzied screams, before art for the upcoming "1989 (Taylor's Version)," due Oct. 27, flashed on the gigantic screen behind her. Leave it to Swift to drop the "1989" news on Aug. 9, AKA 8/9.

More: Taylor Swift reveals '1989' as next rerecorded album at Eras tour in LA

Taylor Swift follows '1989 (Taylor's Version)' announcement with stripped-down 'New Romantics'

Swift's "1989" announcement segued into her first surprise song of the night: "New Romantics," from the "1989" album. Swift played the raucous pop hit on an acoustic guitar. It was a more stripped-down version of the song − but that didn't stop Swifties from scream-singing and dancing along.

She then gave her second surprise song: a tender performance of "New Year's Day," from her 2017 album "Reputation." As she accompanied herself on the piano, the crowd sang along while swaying back and forth.

"Hold on to the memories / They will hold on to you," she sang: These lyrics seemed to hold special significance for Swift as well as for her fans seeking to savor every final moment of the tour's first leg.

Swift clearly felt the electric buzz in the air. Following a performance of "champagne problems" from her 2020 album "evermore" early in the show, she teared up while earning a deafening standing ovation that lasted about eight minutes.

Fans welcome Taylor Swift to LA: See the friendship bracelets, glittery outfits

Fans flock from all over the world, united by friendship bracelets

Fans traveled far and wide to attend the show, bearing friendship bracelets on their wrists as well as attire that nodded to the various eras of Swift's career. Some even went for costumes that referenced niche lyrics, such as Peter Pan ("Peter losing Wendy") and a moth holding a match ("He was a moth to the flame / She was holding matches").

College student Alexa Avalos attended with a friend, both of whom came from Tijuana, Mexico. Together, they made over 200 friendship bracelets over the course of four months in anticipation of the event. Swifties famously trade the homemade jewelry with each other at concerts.

"It means the world to me," Avalos, who wore a "Reputation" shirt, says of the show. "This is like an asteroid for today's pop culture. ... She's the music industry right now."

Television writer Katie Lunskis says she got last-minute "miracle" tickets two weeks ago thanks to a surprise Ticketmaster email while on the way to the dentist. She couldn't stop smiling − or talking − about the tickets through her appointment, much to her dentist's chagrin.

She attended with her friend, TV literary agent Melissa Darman, who compared the Eras tour to a musical moment akin to Woodstock or other shows of historic caliber.

"My dad saw the Beatles (in Boston), and, to me, I still think about that," Darman says, noting the Eras tour will be a similar experience for her.

What's next for Taylor Swift's Eras tour?

All good things must eventually come to an end. But, luckily for Swifties, the Eras tour isn't over yet. On Aug. 3, Swift announced more North American dates for late 2024 in a second leg, starting Oct. 18-20 in Miami. She also has shows set for New Orleans, Indianapolis and Toronto.

Later this month, Swift will take her Eras tour to Mexico, then restart in South America in November. Throughout 2024, she'll perform in Japan, Australia, Singapore and Europe.

9 Ways Watching Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour On Disney+ Will Be Different From Theaters

Weekend box office: the crow plummets as deadpool & wolverine claws its way back to no. 1, ripley easter egg in alien: romulus confirmed (& it changes her story before aliens).

  • Taylor Swift's documentary will be called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) when it streams on Disney+.
  • The alteration to the movie's title is a reference to Taylor Swift's re-recordings of her old albums.
  • The streaming version will include unreleased performances not seen in theaters.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour 's title change when it arrives on streaming may lead to some confusion. The documentary, which was directed by Sam Wrench, depicts the titular world tour conducted by pop superstar Taylor Swift, which began in March 2023 and concludes in December 2024. It has already become the highest-grossing tour of all time, earning more than $1 billion. The movie was released in theaters on October 13, 2023, and became a box office smash, earning $261.7 million worldwide and similarly became the highest-grossing concert movie of all time, surpassing 2011's Justin Bieber: Never Say Never .

The Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Disney+ release is set to go live on March 14 at 6:00 p.m. PT. However, the documentary will have the subtitle (Taylor's Version ) appended to the end rather than using the original title with which it ran in theaters in 2023. While this could make the streaming release seem like it's something entirely different from the original movie, there is a very simple explanation for this alteration in the title.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is coming to Disney+, and the experience of watching the concert movie on streaming will be different than in theaters.

The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) Title Connects To Taylor Swift's Album Re-Releases

Several "taylor's version" albums have already hit the market.

The Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) title is a reference to the star's recently released re-recordings of her albums . These came about because Swift didn't own the masters of the songs she wrote for her albums until leaving Big Machine Records in 2018. Because she owns her masters going forward, she has been recording and releasing new versions of her previous albums, so far putting out Taylor's Version editions of Fearless , Red , Speak Now , and 1989 .

Taylor Swift is still due to release Taylor's Version re-recordings of Taylor Swift and Reputation .

This new title for the documentary is more than just an empty reference to the Taylor Swift re-recordings . As the original tour featured a wide variety of guest performers and surprise bonus songs, there was quite a bit of footage that wasn't included in the theatrical release, which nevertheless ran for 2 hours and 49 minutes. More of these moments will be included in the streaming release, which is why the title references the new versions of albums that Swift has released, utilizing " Taylor's Version " instead of a more standard term like " Uncut " or " Special Edition ."

What's New In Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version) On Disney+

Even more the eras tour songs are included.

So far, not every new performance added to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has been officially announced. However, it has been confirmed that there will be five extra songs , including "Cardigan." The other four, one of which will be "Maroon," are acoustic performances. While this addition won't encompass every single element of the tour that wasn't included in the movie, it is a substantial enough alteration that the documentary lives up to the promise of being called " Taylor's Version ."

Taylor swift fans absolutely lost it when she announced 1989 (taylor's version) at the eras tour, share this article.

The closing night of Taylor Swift’s first U.S. leg of her mega-popular Eras Tour was unsurprisingly incredible. And as expected, Swift made the monster announcement that her next album that she will re-release is 1989 (Taylor’s Version) .

The clues were all there . The date, the outfits, the Easter eggs … all of it.

But it was still an incredible moment for the 70,000 plus fans in attendance at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift has been in the process of re-recording her early works to reclaim ownership of the songs after Scooter Braun purchased her former label, Big Machine Records.

Despite fans knowing (or expecting) the announcement, they still erupted in a cacophony of cheers and screams as Swift unveiled the new 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album art and release date on the big screen.

Taylor Swift Eras tour: Wembley setlist and everything you need to know

W ell, so long, London. After 43 sold-out performances across Europe – including UK dates in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and the capital – and almost 150 dates worldwide, Taylor Swift’s colossal, record-breaking Eras tour has officially reached its final date at Wembley Stadium. The star’s performance tonight will mark the end of the European leg, with her next performance set to take place in Miami, Florida on 18 October.

What time do gates open?

  • Secret songs

How long is the concert?

The London dates came immediately after the singer’s three dates in Vienna, Austria were cancelled when intelligence services foiled an ISIS terrorist plot. Wembley has ramped up security for Swift’s London gigs, with policing minister Diana Johnson saying police will “be looking at all the intelligence” related to the shows.

For those fans lucky enough to be going to Wembley – as any Swiftie knows, it was an almost-impossible task to get tickets, with millions wanting to see what my colleague, Neil McCormick , called a “six star” concert that is more akin to a religious ritual – buying tickets was only half of the battle. You (or your household’s resident Swiftie) may have planned an outfit and made the friendship bracelets, but are you ready for a three-hour extravaganza packed with secret clues and rituals?

Eras tour UK dates

Swift is playing one more date in the UK:

  • August 20: London, Wembley Stadium

Here’s your one-stop shop for everything you need to know about the UK and Ireland leg of the Eras tour – past, present and future – from timings, support acts and the 46-strong setlist to potential secret songs and special guests.

Fans with early entry should be able to enter Wembley from 3.30pm, with general ticket holders permitted from 4pm.

Swift’s main performance will begin around 7pm (with the primary support act, Paramore, taking to the stage around 6pm, and the earlier opener expected around 5pm).

Which songs are on the setlist?

In order, the full setlist is as follows:

From Lover:

  • Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
  • Cruel Summer
  • You Need to Calm Down

From Fearless:

  • You Belong With Me
  • We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
  • I Knew You Were Trouble
  • All Too Well (10 minute version)

From Speak Now:

From Reputation:

  • …Ready For It?
  • Don’t Blame Me
  • Look What You Made Me Do

From Folklore/Evermore:

  • Champagne Problems
  • Illicit Affairs
  • My Tears Ricochet
  • Blank Space
  • Shake It Off
  • Wildest Dreams

From The Tortured Poets Department:

  • But Daddy I Love Him
  • So High School
  • Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
  • The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
  • I Can Do It With A Broken Heart

Surprise song section (see below)

From Midnights:

  • Lavender Haze
  • Midnight Rain
  • Vigilante Shit

The majority of the Eras setlist hasn’t changed since Swift kicked off the tour in Arizona last March – it still opens with Lover and ends with Midnights, spanning 46 songs and 10 albums (her poor Debut still doesn’t get a look in). But the arrival of The Tortured Poets Department back in April resulted in a predictable switch-up, with certain songs taken off the setlist (The Archer, Long Live, The 1, The Last Great American Dynasty, ’Tis the Damn Season and Tolerate It) to make room for seven from the new album.

Fans disappointed at the changes can always hold out hope that one will appear as a secret song during the acoustic set – which immediately follows The Tortured Poets Department’s section.

The secret songs played so far – and what could be next

The secret song (or acoustic) section of the show is easily the most anticipated by fans. Every night is different – although Swift has abandoned her rule from the US leg that secret songs can only be played once, unless a mistake was made – with Swift having 11 albums of material to choose from.

Swift has swapped performing two full secret songs for ‘mashups’ including, usually, two or three tracks. Here is the full list of secret songs from each UK show so far, and which could be next.

Edinburgh night one:

  • Would’ve Could’ve, Should’ve/I Know Places
  • ‘Tis the Damn Season/Daylight

Edinburgh night two:

  • The Bolter/Getaway Car
  • All of the Girls You’ve Loved Before/Crazier

Edinburgh night three:

  • It’s Nice to Have a Friend/Dorothea
  • Haunted/Exile

Liverpool night one:

  • I Can See You/Mine
  • Cornelia Street/Maroon

Liverpool night two:

  • This Is What You Came For/Gold Rush
  • The Great War/You’re Losing Me

Liverpool night three:

  • Carolina/No Body, No Crime
  • The Manuscript/Red

Cardiff:

  • I Forgot That You Existed/This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
  • I Hate It Here/The Lakes

London night one:

  • Hits Different/Death By A Thousand Cuts
  • The Black Dog/Come Back Be Here/Maroon

London night two:

  • thanK you aIMee/Mean
  • Castles Crumbling (with Hayley Williams)

London night three:

  • Us (with Gracie Abrams)
  • Out of the Woods/Is It Over Now?/Clean

Dublin night one:

  • State of Grace/You’re on Your Own Kid
  • Sweet Nothing/Hoax

Dublin night two:

  • The Albatross/Dancing With Our Hands Tied
  • This Love/Ours

Dublin night three:

  • Clara Bow/The Lucky One
  • You’re On Your Own Kid

London night four (August):

  • Everything Has Changed/End Game/Thinking Out Loud (performed with Ed Sheeran)
  • King of My Heart/The Alchemy

London night five:

  • Dear John/Sad Beautiful Tragic

London night six:

  • I Did Something Bad
  • My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys/Coney Island

London night seven:

  • Long Live/Change
  • The Archer/You’re On Your Own, Kid

Our predictions:

British fans will be crossing their fingers that So Long, London gets played on the final night in the capital, though it’s a marked loss that Swift has finally played London Boy: THE ode to the Big Smoke, and her ex, Joe Alwyn. There’s a few collaborations with British artists that haven’t been played yet, either: I Don’t Wanna Live Forever (featuring One Direction’s Zayn Malik) or Florida!!! (Florence Welch), so they’re looking likely.

Taylor Swift’s set lasts for three hours and 15 minutes: up there with career-spanning performances from Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney and The Cure.

The main show begins with the appearance of a ticking clock on stage, which counts down from a total of two minutes while songs from Lady Gaga (Applause) and Lesley Gore (You Don’t Own Me) play in the background.

Once the countdown reaches zero, dancers brandishing ginormous, pastel-hued flags walk out on stage to a backing track listing her various albums (the crowd’s biggest scream being reserved for when it says “My name is Taylor, and I was born in 1989!”). Then, the fabric flags fall to the floor, lift and reveals Swift beneath, in the centre, ready to be hoisted up on a rising stage block to sing a short version of opener Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince (from Lover) before going straight into her biggest streaming hit, Cruel Summer.

Swift takes no substantial breaks during the three-hour plus set – aside from various outfit or stage changes in between Eras – but there are fleeting moments you can rest, including after the Speak Now section (which is a mere single song, Enchanted) which has a slightly longer interval before Swift begins to perform songs from Red. Don’t forget, either, to put on the special wristband you’re handed on entry – it flashes different colours throughout the set and can often signal surprise songs or special moments.

Prepare your friendship bracelets

Whether you’re a bona fide Swiftie or the parent or guardian of one, I guarantee you will have heard of friendship bracelets. Inspired by a lyric from Midnights’ You’re On Your Own, Kid (“So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it”), Swift’s fans wear armfuls of homemade, largely plastic bracelets featuring beads that spell out song names or inside jokes.

Then, once at the show, the fans “trade” bracelets with each other to make new friends. The internet is full of tutorials on how to make them, but if your show is drawing closer and you’re yet to make any, Amazon Prime is your best bet.

What to pack?

Despite what Gen Zs on TikTok may suggest, the Eras tour is just a concert. Thus, it doesn’t necessitate buying fancy new cameras, iPhones, earplugs or battery packs – but you would be wise to pack a jumper (it gets cold – and the ones for sale on the official merchandise will set you back around £60); those friendship bracelets, as well, of course, as your ticket.

What to wear?

Sequins, glitter, cowboy hats – anything goes, as long as you go for it. Find the link to our all-ages guide on what to wear to Swift’s Era’s tour below.

What to wear to the Eras tour

Learn the fan lyrics

If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to the Eras tour, learning 11 albums worth of songs – plus the Vault tracks from her ‘Taylor’s Version’ rerecords – might seem like an impossible task. Unluckily, it’s not just Swift’s 274 official singles (46 of which make up the setlist) that you need to know, because the crowd adds special lines to multiple songs.

During Delicate, from Reputation, fans yell the chant “One, two, three, let’s go b—h!” after she sings “We can’t make any promises, now can we, babe?” Chart-topping revenge anthem Bad Blood, meanwhile, taken from 2014’s 1989, sees fans screech the end of the line “You forgive / You forget / But you never let it go”. Swift’s knowing winks during the songs indicate she knows exactly what the crowd is gearing up for.

Who are the support acts?

US pop-rock band Paramore are the primary support act for all UK Eras shows, and typically begin their 45-minute set at 6.15pm. There are extra support acts for the final five shows at Wembley Stadium: Sofia Isella (15 August), Holly Humberstone (16 August), Suki Waterhouse (17 August), Maisie Peters (19 August) and Raye (20 August).

A guide to the Eras support acts

Standout moments so far – concert by concert

The Eras tour is a tightly-run ship revolving around immaculate choreography, a watertight setlist and a performer renowned for her professionalism, but that doesn’t mean every single night is the same. The weather can be temperamental, Swift could bring out a special guest, or you might just spot your favourite A-lister lurking within the crowd (or, more likely, the coveted VIP tent in front of the sound desk). And of course, there’s the secret song section, for which we’ve dedicated a separate section above this one.

Edinburgh: Night One

Fans present at the opening show in Edinburgh were quick to record the moment Swift had to take a break from performing Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve on acoustic guitar – as part of the secret songs set – because of a pesky hand-cramp. As Swift put it: “My hand has frozen in a weird way. This has never happened before!”

Videos of her shivering on stage suggest the reliably-volatile Scottish weather was to blame. Another highlight came courtesy of her backing dancer Kam, recently in the news for his decision to buy a kilt (after worrying it was cultural appropriation), who contributes a city-specific line to We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together – Edinburgh’s first one being “Ya wee raj”. Think of it as Taylor does Trainspotting.

Edinburgh: Night Two

Proving that the secret song section is truly what gets the crowd (and internet) talking, Swift’s decision to perform Crazier, a track taken from 2009’s Hannah Montana: The Movie – that she has never played live before – had Swifties around the globe hyperventilating, not least because its inclusion suggested it will appear on the rerecording of her debut album.

Elsewhere, fans of Amazon Prime Video’s hit Outlander would have been wise to peer towards the VIP tent, where the show’s cast – including Sam Heughan – were busy dancing the night away.

Edinburgh: Night Three

Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt, who watched the third show from the VIP tent, shared a moving message on Instagram about her long-term love for Swift. The 29-year-old, who hails from West Lothian, wrote: “It was so special to hear the songs that made me want to pick up a guitar back in the place I’m from”.

Swift’s influence was also keenly felt during her surprise performance of Exile, in which the crowd – all 73,000 of them – dutifully sang Bon Iver’s parts of the song; you can see her joy in videos from the performance in which she’s grinning, in disbelief, that this many people know her music this inside-out.

Liverpool: Night One

You’ll be surprised to learn that Liverpool’s biggest Swiftie is not, in fact, a random teenage girl singing along to Fearless in her bedroom. Jurgen Klopp, the former Reds manager, who has spoken of his love for Swift’s music before, showed up on the first night at Anfield (wearing pink heart-shaped sunglasses, no less) to show his support. Elsewhere, Swift performed I Can See You, a Vault track from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), as the first secret song - fitting given it was filmed in the city last year. No appearance from Sir Paul McCartney - also an avid Swiftie - but there’s two nights left…

Swift used her 100th Eras Tour show to confirm that the tour will end this year, ending speculation that more dates would be added. “The celebration of the 100th show for me means this is the very first time I’ve acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December. Like, that’s it,” she told the rain-sodden crowd at Anfield. “I think that this tour has really become my entire life,” she said during her intro to All Too Wel. “It’s taken over everything. I think I once had hobbies, but I don’t know what they were anymore.

“All I do when I’m not on stage is sit at home and try to think of clever acoustic song mash-ups and think about what you might want to hear.”

Liverpool: Night Two

Stood just a few heads back from where Swift was seated for the surprise songs set, nothing could have prepared me for the first track: This Is What You Came For, the 2016 hit originally performed by Calvin Harris and Rihanna – that Swift wrote. It will surely be on Reputation (Taylor’s Version); Harris, Swift’s superstar DJ ex-boyfriend, clearly couldn’t be bothered to deal with the social media attention, because he deleted his account on X after this performance. I’ve seen Swift on multiple tours, in wildly different stages of her career, but seeing her on Eras – so confident and self-assured – is a privilege.

British rising star Griff, who will open for Swift on the second night at Wembley, was also present - warning that “if I don’t have a voice next week at Wembley it’s because I lost it at Eras a week early.”

Liverpool: Night Three

A highlight of the Red set is always We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, when Swift’s dancer Kem tries out his best local slang. The third night in Scouseland saw him listen to the TikTok advice and yell “Jog on lad,” much to the delight of the crowd. The Red trend continued through to the surprise songs, when Swift performed the title track from that album – an ode to love, but for one night only, Liverpool FC. Or, of course, the Kansas City Chiefs.

A special mention goes to the Swifties who dedicated a selection of friendship bracelets to victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

Swift had obviously been doing her homework before heading to the Welsh capital’s Principality Stadium, as she uttered a number of Welsh phrases throughout the gig, from “Shwmae Cardiff” (Hello Cardiff) to “Croeso I daith Eras” (Welcome to the Eras tour) and “Un, dau, tri, pedwar” (1, 2, 3, 4). Fan favourite dancer Kam, meanwhile, went for “ych a fi!” (gross) during We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. As the only indoor/closed-roof concert of the UK leg of Eras, meanwhile, some fans in Cardiff were left disappointed there was no firework display during Karma, the closing song.

London: Night One

The first night in the capital was always going to be starry, and Wembley certainly didn’t disappoint. Swift’s boyfriend, the NFL star Travis Kelce, showed up with his brother Jason, along with supermodel Cara Delevingne, fashion designer Stella McCartney, actresses Rosamund Pike, Salma Hayek and Nicola Coughlan and even Labour leader Keir Starmer (with his wife, Victoria). Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales opted to celebrate his 42nd birthday at the show , watching from a private box with his children.

As always, the surprise songs segment proved a winner, as Swift launched into The Black Dog, for the first time ever, which was inspired by her past visits to an unassuming boozer in Vauxhall. Swift has always had a special relationship with London, having lived here for a time when she was dating British actor Joe Alwyn, meaning her first night at Wembley (she has played at the stadium before, as part of 2018’s Reputation tour) was always going to be special. Little wonder she called it “the most exhilarating city in the world”! She even got the weather to bend to her every whim, with the day’s rare sun giving way to rain during Midnight Rain.

London: Night Two

The second night at Wembley took a look at Friday’s guestlist and said oh no, you’re not getting away with that. Two future Kings and a (potential) future Prime Minister had nothing on the second night’s VIP guests: Tom Cruise, Greta Gerwig, Liam Hemsworth, Rachel Zegler, Jamie Dornan, Hugh Grant (eating a bag of carrots in the VIP tent, no less), Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Emily Maitlis, Beth Mead and, again, Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce (seemingly with his full family in tow).

The show turned into a “who’s who” of Hollywood, but it was the appearance of Swift’s beloved mother, Andrea - who got choked up by a hero’s welcome from fans - that touched the heartstrings. Eighteen years of guiding her daughter later, and she’s the biggest popstar in the world, her tickets a hotter commodity than gas or oil (*kind of).

Also, the secret song choices made this path even more poignant: first up was thanK you aIMee (the capitalised letters spell out Kim, widely thought to be a reference to former nemesis Kim Kardashian) crossed with Mean, Swift’s Grammy-winning country single about classmate jibes and irrelevant haters from Speak Now, where she swapped the lyrics to “Someday I’ll be singing this song at Wembley”. Then came a long-awaited duet with Paramore’s Hayley Williams for Castles Crumbling, also from Speak Now, a sparkling showcase for both women’s talents - and mutual respect and adoration.

London: Night Three

Travis Kelce appearing on stage as one of Swift’s backing performers for I Can Do It With A Broken Heart! The Sir Paul McCartney trading friendship bracelets from the VIP tent, where he was hanging out with daughter Stella! Swift bringing close friend Gracie Abrams out to sing Us, their collaboration from Abrams’s new album . Once again, it was the VIP guests who got the crowd talking: Macca at the top, closely followed by Jon Bon Jovi, Ellie Goulding, Sophie Turner, Cate Blanchett, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Andrew Scott and Piers Morgan.

Swift also made a few pointed comments about the pitfalls of playing live (during the 10 minute-long All Too Well, she stopped for a few seconds, saying “I swallowed a bug, can you sing?”), and the talents of her extensive live band, seemingly in response to disparaging comments made by Dave Grohl in London the day before. At a Foo Fighters gig at the London Stadium, Grohl warned the crowd “Be nice! You don’t want the Swifties after you” before suggesting Swift doesn’t sing live at her live shows.

Dublin: Night One

Swift was welcomed to Dublin with a bunch of flowers from her old friends – and “Irish fan club” – U2. “Already feeling that Irish hospitality!!” she posted on Instagram. She paid tribute to the “folklore” of Ireland and there were Irish references sprinkled throughout the evening, from a “haon, dó, trí, ceathair” countdown in I Can Do It With a Broken Heart to costume changes in the colours of the Irish flag. Paramore singer Hayley Williams also wore a Cranberries t-shirt for her support set.

Dublin: Night Two

Graham Norton showed up at the second Dublin date, with the presenter writing on Instagram that the show was “off the scale fabulous” and calling Swift a “class act in every way”. We wonder if he’s gunning for another appearance from Swift on his famous red sofa back in London; after all, she’s featured many times over the years. In August, ahead of the final Wembley shows, perhaps?

Dublin: Night Three

With Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks (who is currently on her own tour) watching on, Swift performed Clara Bow from The Tortured Poets Department for the first time. Introducing the song, which includes the lyric “You look like Stevie Nicks”, Swift said: “The reason I want to play this tonight is because a friend of mine is here who is watching the show and who has really been one of the reasons why I or any female artist gets to do what we get to do. She’s paved the way for us. And she’s mentored so many artists. I can’t tell you how rare that is. She’s a hero of mine and also someone that I can tell her any secret and she would never tell anybody. She’s really helped me through so much over the years.” Then, Swift sang You’re On Your Own Kid in full, a song Nicks previously said helped her to process the death of her bandmate, Christine McVie. Nicks was seen wiping away tears from the VIP tent during the performance. Hollywood actress Julia Roberts was also in attendance.

London: Night Four (August run)

It was always going to be an emotional show: the first since the tragic events in Southport and the cancelled run of shows in Vienna. Swift herself seemed to stay away from making a marked statement on either event, but she seemed happy to be back in her safe space, surrounded by more than 90,000 adoring fans, united in their love of music and refusing to succumb to hate or fear.

The celebrity guests turned out in full force, too, from actors Idris Elba (whose vocals famously opened Swift’s hit London Boy, yet to be performed at the Eras tour), Jameela Jamil and Ambika Mod to ‘Chicken Shop Date’ host Amelia Dimoldenberg. Once again, though, the loudest cheers from the crowd were reserved for two very special ladies in Swift’s life: her mother, Andrea, and her publicist, Tree Paine.

But it was the night’s special guest who really got the audience whooping, weeping and hollering. English megastar Ed Sheeran appeared on stage halfway through Swift’s performance of their collaboration, Everything Has Changed, to perform with her; the pair went on to sing another of their songs together, End Game, and Sheeran’s own chart-topper Thinking Out Loud. Swift thanked him for taking the time to come out, saying: “He is like a second brother”. After that mic drop, Swift went on to perform a medley of King of My Heart, from Reputation (her album-ode to ex Joe Alwyn), and The Alchemy (awkwardly, a similarly gushing ode to her new beau, Travis Kelce).

London: Night Five

It finally happened: she sang London Boy. Swift’s ode to her ex, the North London-raised actor Joe Alwyn, became a full-length love letter to the city where she lived for so long; it’s no secret that, over the past two decades, London has welcomed Swift with open arms perhaps more than any other global city. That surprise song choice leaves behind just one London-centric single for her to perform - So Long, London, from this year’s chart-topper The Tortured Poets Department. Fingers crossed she whips it out on the piano on the final show on August 20. Elsewhere, it was teen angst all round in the surprise songs department as Swift performed a medley of break-up anthems Dear John and Sad Beautiful Tragic.

The Easter egg-hunters went into overdrive, too, after she appeared on stage for the Midnights section in a brand new costume/bodysuit. Last time she did that, she announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) the day after. Here’s hoping that Reputation finally comes out of that vault...

London: Night Six

The deeper we get into the Eras tour - and the closer we get to it ending - the more intense the rumours grow that Swift is preparing to announce her final “rerecorded” albums, Reputation and Taylor Swift (her debut). Fans at the sixth show at Wembley went into overdrive when Swift performed I Did Something Bad as her first surprise song, a track taken from Reputation (that’s not yet been played on the Eras tour) that fans widely believed would herald the announcement. But, alas, the song was played sans any new news on when Reputation (Taylor’s Version) would arrive. Swift knew exactly what she was doing, of course, teasing fans even further when she signed off the show doing a snake symbol (Reputation’s mascot, basically).

Elsewhere, fans went wild when support act Hayley Williams (of Paramore) surprised them with a performance of Decode, taken from the Twilight soundtrack - and dedicated, for one night only, to that film’s star Robert Pattinson, who was at Wembley to support his wife (another support act) Suki Waterhouse. The evening’s highlight, though, had to be Sharon Osbourne showing up in a ‘Taylor for President’ t-shirt; Wembley to the White House, anyone?

London: Night Seven

Part of the Eras tour’s magic has been its propping up of new, exciting talent through its support slot - US stars such as Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams have become household names in their own right in the past year following their positions opening for Swift in America and elsewhere. But here in London, the support acts have more than lived up to the pressure, with night seven’s offering, Maisie Peters, proving why she’s long been heralded as Britain’s Gen Z answer to Swift herself, with her raw, personal lyrics and infectious sense of fun.

Crowds at Wembley were also treated to a double whammy of Swift magic-lore: a “rain show” - Swift famously loves playing in bad weather - and a surprise song rendition of fan-favourite Long Live (mashed with Keir Starmer’s favourite, Change). The only disappointment? That Swift’s ex Taylor Lautner was dancing away in the VIP crowd yet didn’t make an appearance on stage like he did previously in the US.

Potential special guests

Swift has brought a number of famous guests on stage to sing with her throughout the Eras tour – typically artists with feature credits on her songs. The National’s Aaron Dessner, who produced much of her lockdown albums Folklore and Evermore, appeared in Santa Clara, California, to perform melodic break-up ballad Right Where You Left Me. With The National regularly touring the world to play festivals and their own gigs, could he make a surprise stop in NW London? Here’s hoping.

Then there’s sister-indie trio HAIM, who are personal close friends with Swift and featured on No Body, No Crime. Pictures of them out for a meal in London with Swift (and other famous faces, including Kate Moss, Lena Dunham and Andrew Scott) suggest they could make an appearance.

Other potential secret guests range from Lana Del Rey (who sang on Snow on the Beach, and is in the UK in August for Reading and Leeds festivals), Jack Antonoff (Getaway Car and more) and Zayn Malik (I Don’t Wanna Live Forever). All are probable, since Swift has already brought out Paramore’s Hayley Williams for their collaboration, Castles Crumbling, Gracie Abrams (for Us) and Ed Sheeran (for a mash-up of Everything Has Changed/End Game/Thinking Out Loud).

The secrets to look out for – and what they all mean

Ask any Taylor Swift fan what the secret to her colossal success is, and you might be surprised by their answer. Her emotionally vulnerable lyrics and 11 chart-topping studio albums come into play, of course, but it’s her Easter eggs – the secret clues she hides in her songs – that have established her as an unprecedented force in the music industry. And she’s done the same with the Eras concert, filling it with clues, tips and tricks hidden behind certain stages, lyrics or costumes that throw light on her life, her passions and her songs. Here we interpret it all for you.

The show opens with Lover – to mark Taylor’s creative rebirth …

Released in 2019, Swift’s seventh studio album was meant to get the full bells and whistles treatment: chart-topping singles (Me!, You Need to Calm Down, Lover and The Man) and a sold-out tour (“Lover Fest” was supposed to be a worldwide phenomenon, that included a show at London’s BST Hyde Park). Lover was also intended to mark a creative rebirth for Swift, whose popularity had waned following public spats with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian (that resulted in 2017’s Reputation).

Instead, Covid arrived, the tour was cancelled, and some of the singles flopped (although the album did feature Cruel Summer, surprisingly now her biggest, most-streamed hit). Swift had multiple reasons to open the Eras tour with the Lover section, and track Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. The album was her first record to be entirely hers – following her legal battle with former record label Big Red Machine, that has seen her rerecord much of her back catalogue – and it never got its glory days because of the pandemic, so she seems to be picking up where she left off.

Some fans have even construed the choice to be aimed at former boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who she reportedly broke up with in March 2023 (the same month the Eras tour kicked off in the US), with Swift the all-American golden girl and he, the brooding British actor, the prince who wound up breaking her heart.

… Then the house burns down

For much of the Lover section, Swift performs on stage in front of a huge glass house with rooms nodding at previous music videos or Eras. As the titular track ends and she prepares to move into the Fearless era, the house bursts into fake flames and looks like it is burning down on stage. Could it symbolise the breakdown of her relationship with Alwyn, an end to her romantic side, or a potential hiatus post-Eras tour?

The Fearless dance

Nostalgia forms the heart of the Eras tour. Over two decades, Swift has released 11 studio albums packed with hits – from Love Story to We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together – and made billions of dollars from her music. The tour itself is a celebration of this (as Swift announces at the beginning: “We are about to go on a little adventure together”), as well as her old and new fans. The second part of the show is dedicated to 2008’s country gem Fearless – which won her first Grammy for Album of the Year – and features multiple nods to her younger years and earlier performances, including the jump and spin dance and heart sign she makes with her hands during the title song.

The meaningful outfits

Colours are important in Taylor Swift’s World, because each album is colour-coded (gold for Fearless, purple for Speak Now, black for Reputation, etc). Those signifiers form the heart of many fans’ chosen outfits for the tour, but also Swift’s own style choices on stage. When she announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in Los Angeles on August 9, she swapped her usual outfits for blue variants (1989’s colour) throughout the show. The show’s newest Era, dedicated to 11th album The Tortured Poets Department, sees her wear a toned-down spin on a circus ringmaster outfit for I Can Do It With a Broken Heart (a knowing nod to her 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards outfit) – a song about powering through heartbreak to dazzle fans and critics – while the logo on the t-shirt she wears during 22 (from Red) changes depending on the show.

One particular outfit to keep an eye on is the black and red, snake-emblazoned sequin catsuit she wears during the Reputation era – because it’s the only outfit that hasn’t changed since the beginning of the tour.

I Can Do It With a Broken Heart – and the Reputation glass boxes

ICDIWABH, mentioned above, is a defiant, gloriously poppy middle finger-up to anyone who thought Swift would buckle under the pressure of heartbreak and fame. “They said, “Babe, you gotta fake it ‘til you make it” and I did,” she sings. “Lights, camera, bitch smile, even when you wanna die”. The staging itself involves a motionless Swift, lying on the ground after performing The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, being picked up by two grinning circus masters, who strip her dress and replace it with the ringmaster outfit. After flopping and falling around like a ragdoll, Swift suddenly jerks to life and bursts into song – a true professional, at whatever personal cost.

During the Reputation section, meanwhile, and in particular Look What You Made Me Do, Swift performs in front of a collection of glass boxes containing dancers dressed in similar costumes to ones worn throughout her career. The song itself, which was originally aimed at West and Kardashian, is Swift’s way of standing up for herself in front of an industry who expected her to be the meek, good-girl country star, instead of a powerful woman. Taken together, the imagery of both songs (ICDIWABH and LWYMMD) supports this – Swift seeing herself as someone who hasn’t been allowed to grow up, whose entire adolescence (and now, adulthood) was catered to pleasing the public.

Taken from her fourth studio album, 2012’s Red, 22 marked a musical switch for Swift from country to pure pop. During her performance of the song at the Eras tour, she storms down the long stage with her crew of backing dancers to reach one lucky fan at the other end, who is handed the black (personally signed) trilby she wears during the performance (and wore in the original video).

Fans looking to secure the hat would be best to direct their attention to the Taylor Nation social media accounts – allegedly run by a combination of 13 Management, her mother Andrea and father Scott – who personally choose the recipient. One such lucky fan was the late basketball player’s Kobe Bryant’s young daughter, Bianka, who was handed the hat (and embraced) by Swift in Los Angeles.

The Folklore house

Between the pop-tastic anthems of Red and 1989, Swift brings down the tempo for the Folklore section (twinned with Evermore on the European leg). The album, which she wrote and released during the pandemic, was a critical darling; co-written with and produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, it marked a switch from pop to a more indie, mature sound. During the set, she performs songs from Folklore and Evermore from atop a grassy woodland cabin (inspired by her 2021 Grammy performance) that is also home to the moss-covered piano where she sits and performs Champagne Problems.

So High School’s ode to Travis Kelce

When Swift began the Eras tour, she was newly single and heartbroken, tearing up on stage while performing for songs she had written in honour of former beau Joe Alwyn. Since then, she’s released The Tortured Poets Department, another break-up album widely interpreted to be about Matty Healy, the 1975 frontman who she dated afterwards.

But her current boyfriend, the NFL star Travis Kelce, has no reason to fear, because he gets his love story during So High School. Swift only sings part of the song, which is about her falling head over heels for this teenage-kind of love (and includes the line “You know how to ball / I know Aristotle”), but the accompanying dance is the clearest nod to Kelce. She and her backing dancers sit atop makeshift bleachers and “swag surf” – a waving motion typically used at US sporting events, that she was seen doing during a Kansas City Chiefs game earlier this year.

The Bejeweled TikTok dance

It’s easy to attribute the unprecedented success of the Eras tour to the rise of TikTok. The day after the tour began in Arizona in March 2023, I had seen it in its entirety – from my bedroom in London – thanks to people live-streaming from the concert, or uploading multiple videos. Since then, of course, there has been the blockbuster concert film, but the video sharing platform offered the first opportunity for international fans (or those who couldn’t afford tickets) to see the show.

TikTok even provided Swift with a free choreographer. New Jersey-based creator Mikael Arellano went viral in 2022 with his dance to Bejeweled, the ninth track from Midnights, where he shimmies and shakes his hands and body to the chorus. It racked up billions of views and sure enough, when the Eras tour opened, Swift and her dancers did the same dance. As a way of saying thank you, Arellano was even called up to accept the much-fêted 22 hat in May 2023.

Taylor Swift Rounds Off Final UK Stop On The Eras Tour With 3 Big Surprises For Fans

Daniel Welsh

Taylor Swift wrapped up the UK leg of her Eras Tour on Tuesday night, with two last surprises for fans.

While the 14-time Grammy winner may not have given Swifties the Reputation (Taylor’s Version) announcement they’re waiting for , let’s just say the night wasn’t without its throwbacks to 2017.

During the acoustic section of her show, Taylor welcomed another surprise guest to the stage in the form of her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, with whom she’s worked on all of her albums since 2014’s 1989.

“I think a lot about why I’m lucky enough to get to do a show like the Eras Tour, and it’s because I’ve been fortunate enough to find friendships over the years that have been incredible collaborative and creative,” she told her fans. “I get to make music with one of my best friends in the world, and he’s here tonight.”

Jack then came out to perform Death By A Thousand Cuts from Lover, as well as Reputation fan-favourite Getaway Car.

Fittingly, Taylor ended the “surprise song” portion of the evening with So Long London, to mark her final show in the capital.

Earlier in the show, Florence Welch also came out to join Taylor for a duet of their song Florida!!!, during the The Tortured Poets Department section of the show.

And as if that wasn’t enough, she rounded off the evening by dropping her new music video for the Tortured Poets Department cut I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.

The video is mostly made up of behind-the-scenes clips from the Eras Tour, from which I Can Do It With A Broken Heart is one of the stand-out moments.

Taylor’s UK shows have been full of surprise guests, with everyone from singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and even her boyfriend Travis Kelce joining her on stage.

Last week, the Look What You Made Me Do singer duetted with another of her famous pals, when Ed Sheeran made a surprise appearance in the Eras Tour’s acoustic section.

Even the crowd has been star-studded, with Hugh Grant , Phoebe Waller-Bridge , Paul McCartney and even Prince William and his children watching the Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium earlier in the run.

Taylor Swift Surprises Fans With Ed Sheeran at Her ‘Eras Tour’ Concert During 2nd Stint in London

Taylor Swift Surprises Fans With Ed Sheeran at Her ‘Eras Tour’ Concert During 2nd Stint in London

Taylor Swift ensured that she kicked off her five-night Wembley Stadium run of Eras Tour  shows with a bang.

Swift, 34, brought out her pal Ed Sheeran during the Thursday, August 15, London show for a medley duet that included “Everything Has Changed” and “End Game” as well as Sheeran’s solo hit “Thinking Out Loud.”

After the duo shared a hug, Swift introduced Sheeran, 33, as like a “second brother” to her. “We toured together on the  Red  tour,” she told the crowd. “Every time I am doing the Red part of this show I think about the memories that we’ve made. And now he is someone who plays Wembley, like, every week. This is, like, regular for him. And he works so hard. And he’s on tour right now and he’s probably so tired, but he wanted to come and play for you and do this for all of us.”

Swift has five shows at Wembley Stadium from Thursday to Tuesday, August 20. This marks her second stint at the venue after previously performing in London three times in June.

During her first run of concerts in London, Swift surprised fans on June 23 by bringing boyfriend Travis Kelce out for her costume change during “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” which served as his Eras Tour stage debut. After the show, Swift posted photos from the moment via Instagram, writing that she was “still cracking up/ swooning over ” Kelce’s scene-stealing cameo.

Kelce later revealed that it was his idea to join Swift on stage , explaining on his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce that Swift “found the perfect part of the show for me to come in.”

Ahead of Swift’s return to London, fans speculated that she might do something special to celebrate the last Eras Tour shows of the European leg, which began in Paris in May. In August 2023, she announced the release date of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in Los Angeles during the final concert of her first U.S. leg. She also used the first show of the European leg to introduce a totally revamped setlist , complete with the addition of her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department .

Swift’s second stint at Wembley Stadium comes after she was forced to cancel her three sold-out concerts in Vienna earlier this month due to a foiled terrorist attack. Police in Austria arrested multiple individuals with alleged plans to commit acts of violence at Ernst Happel Stadium while fans were gathered there for Swift’s performances, which were scheduled to occur from August 8 through August 10.

“Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour Vienna shows canceled due to government officials confirmation of planned terrorist attack,” a statement from concert organizers Barracuda Music read via Instagram on August 7. “With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”

Following her London concerts, Swift will take a previously planned two-month hiatus from her tour. She will then return to the stage for dates in the U.S. in October and November before concluding her run of shows in Canada in December.

Taylor Swift's Dad Scott Hands Out Chicken Tenders to Fans During London Eras Tour Show: 'The Chicken Is Fresh'

A fan posted a TikTok video showing Scott Swift distributing the food item at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 17

Taylor Swift 's dad, Scott Swift , is making sure Swifties are well-fed while watching his superstar daughter perform at the Eras Tour.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, TikTok user Stephanie Niemiec of New York City posted a video of herself and a friend receiving chicken tenders from Scott mid-concert at Wembley Stadium in London.

"Scott handing out chicken during [“Style”] somehow makes sense," she wrote over the video, referring to Taylor’s hit single from 1989 and 1989 (Taylor's Version ). "Thank you for the chicken," she said to Scott in the video before turning her phone around and adding, "The chicken is fresh."

Niemiec, 22, tagged Taylor, 34, in her caption and wrote, “Tell your dad thank you, it was just what I needed.”

Scott's protein-filled snack choice for Swifties might be a nod to a September 2023 post on X (formerly Twitter) of a fan posing with Taylor while she was at a Kansas City Chiefs game supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce .

In the photo, Taylor posed at a table in front of a plate of chicken tenders with condiments on the side. The photo went viral because of the fan's caption of the moment: "Taylor Swift was eating a piece of chicken with ketchup and seemingly ranch!"

However, on Saturday, Scott didn't appear to have ranch dressing for fans as he was passing out the chicken tenders in London.

The "Lavender Haze" singer's final run of Eras Tour shows in Europe has been full of surprises for Swifties that don't involve snacking.

Her longtime friend Ed Sheeran joined her onstage during the surprise songs section of her show on Thursday, Aug. 15. The duo performed two of their songs together — "Everything Has Changed" and "End Game" — as well as Sheeran's hit ballad "Thinking Out Loud."

Taylor Swift in Mississippi? Eras exhibit opens at this Mississippi museum. See where, when

Portrait of Mary Boyte

Looking to escape the heat of this cruel summer? Grab your cardigan, get out of the woods and into the Grammy Museum Mississippi’s newest, most enchanted exhibit: “Taylor Swift through the Eras.“

Didn’t get tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour? Shake it off and get the next best thing right here in the Mississippi Delta.

The Grammy Museum Mississippi in Cleveland promises a unique, one-of-a-kind display of some of Swift’s most iconic guitars and outfits seen on various tours and red carpets, starting with a dress worn in 2007 during her self-titled debut album tour and ending with the gown Swift wore in her recent music video with Post Malone for the song “Fortnight.”

And don’t worry if August slips away like a bottle of wine, the exhibit will be here until February, but unfortunately not an endless February.

The exhibit opened Friday and will stay on display until Feb. 2, 2025.

The exhibit is completely unique to Mississippi. Once the exhibit closes, the artifacts will return to the private collection in Nashville.

From start to finish, the display takes visitors through each of Swift’s 11 eras of music and spans 18 years of her tours and red-carpet appearances. The exhibit is timely as Swift gets closer to wrapping up her Eras Tour, which has visited five continents over the course of the past year, putting on nearly 150 shows.

Brittany Hill, the museum’s senior marketing and development manager, said a lot of people have asked her if Miss Americana herself will visit the Delta. Unfortunately, Swift will most likely not make an appearance at the exhibit, Hill said.

Hill said Swift’s management company, 13 Management, was extremely helpful throughout the process. Management worked closely with the Grammy Museum to create the exhibit which includes an outfit in front of its respective era with information on the albums, including the re-recordings. Swift’s 2022 album "Midnights" makes an extra appearance with the blue two-piece dress Swift wore during the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The exhibit also includes a room featuring several of Swift’s self-directed music videos on a loop, including the short film accompanying her song, “All Too Well" (Ten Minute Version).

The museum delayed the exhibit’s announcement after the events in Vienna. Swift was set to perform three shows during her eras tour stop in Vienna in early August. The shows were canceled after authorities foiled a suspected terrorist plot.

This exhibit, which is more than a year in the works, required an extra layer of details during the planning stages, Hill said. A team drove up to Nashville and collected the artifacts in two trucks. Then, the artifacts were kept in a museum prep room with specific temperature and light controls.

Swift has three upcoming shows in New Orleans in October. Hill said she hopes to catch Swifties traveling through the area on the way to the concerts.

Official Taylor Swift merch has nearly completely taken over the museum’s gift shop, and a friendship bracelet making station is set up in the lobby. After writing a lyric about friendship bracelets in her "Midnights" album, Swift sparked a movement of fans creating and trading friendship bracelets during the eras tour shows.

To make a long story short, here’s a list of the artifacts on display at the Eras exhibit:

  • Swift’s BCBG Max Azria dress worn during tour performances for her self-titled album in 2007
  • Swift’s custom Taylor GS6 “Sparkle Guitar” played throughout her “Fearless” tour in 2009 to 2010
  • A red sparkle top Gibson Les Paul played by Swift during her “Speak Now” world tour
  • Custom Marina Toybina ensemble and Laduca boots worn during Swift’s performance of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” during the 55th Annual Grammy Awards
  • The custom jumpsuit and boots from Swift’s 58th Annual Grammy Awards performance of her 1989 hit, “Out of the Woods”
  • Custom Jessica Jones bodysuit and jacket and Christian Louboutin boots worn by Swift during her 2018 “reputation” stadium tour
  • Gibson J180 guitar played during Swift’s “City of Lover” concert in Paris, France celebrating the release of her 2019 album “Lover”
  • Oscar de la Renta dress and Christian Louboutin shoes worn by Swift at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards where her album “folklore” won album of the year
  • Stella McCartney coat featured on the album cover of “Evermore”
  • Free People coat featured in the music video for the "Midnights" single “Lavender Haze”
  • Maticevski gown and gloves worn in Swift’s music video for “The Tortured Poets Department” hit single “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)”
