Came here with friends that were looking for tees and shoes and I simply tagged along. I wasn't here to buy anything for myself but if you're curious, the price tag for most women's clothing was $95+ for really cool designer brands like Lilly Pulitzer and vineyard vines. I've only ever used men's drivers because my 98 year old grandpa taught me driver basics and I've been teaching my partner what my grandpa has taught me. I was curious to try out women's sized drivers. I was really happy to see that there were virtual golf simulators in the back of the store to test out the variety of clubs before buying. Not sure if I'm ready to invest in a $200 driver, but I think one day I'll get there... it's a much different feeling than usually drivers that are way too big! Loved the simulator experience in the back of the store and how you can test if you're a righty or a lefty if you're starting golf.

I walked around approximately 30 mins without ever being asked if I needed help. I was searching for used ping clubs (lefty) to try since I haven't upgraded in over 10 years. After not finding any demo clubs, I decided to grab a display iron to hit and found a ball in an unoccupied stall but was then asked If I was ok? I replied yes and explained what I came for and the gentleman said he would build one for me rather than hitting the display. (made sense) He put a High trajectory shaft on which I inquired what is this, since I have never heard of a high trajectory shaft but his response was "to help me hit it higher" while walking to attend another couple. I personally felt like my money didn't matter here and was really glad that there was not much more to choose from. I decided to buy a glove which took me another 20 mins to find (lefty) and was happy to be getting back into traffic. I can't say this experience happened because I'm black... Nevertheless, I didn't hit 1 ball straight but I blame fatigue for that. Another reviewer mentioned Golf Galaxy and I'm anxious to see what they have.

Dropped off my clubs to get regripped on Saturday 3/30. I was assisted by a very nice man who told me my clubs would be ready on Tuesday. No problem! Imagine my surprise when I got a text later that day they were ready to be picked up. Wow! Unfortunately, that was the end of my wonderful customer service. Sunday 3/31 I picked up my clubs and the helpful man I encountered on Saturday was replaced by a grumpy, not helpful person. I mentioned how impressed I was that my grips were done so quickly, and he nodded and walked away. As I brought the clubs to my car I noticed a black film all over my hands and coating the shafts. I brought them back in to show "Mr. Pleasant," and after taking a quick glance he announced the black tarry substance was a result of my old grips. OK, I thought, so clean it off. Nope, not even attempting to wipe them. I asked what he would recommend and he told me Goo Gone. Fine. I took my clubs to the car, and proceeded to wipe them off. The black stuff now is on my hands and pants. Not happy!!! I've had grips replaced before, and I've never had my clubs returned to me a black tarry mess. Is this standard practice for this store? If so, we won't be seeing each other ever again!

What an amazing store! They have lots of launch monitors and lots of demo clubs to hit without having to get into a sales discussion with an associate. The store has tons of gear, clubs, and apparel. It felt like Christmas Day walking around in their store!

This review is for the club fitting. I just finished an iron fitting with Erick and it was a really enjoyable experience! It was my first time being fit for clubs so I didn't know what to expect. Erick walked me through the process and showed me what he was looking for every time we tried a new club. He explained everything and didn't judge when I hit some bad shots! We eventually narrowed it down to the set that was right for me without any pressure or upselling. Highly recommend Erick! I'll be back when I need some new woods!

Great store with broad selection of everything golf. The practice bay areas and putting turf are great and have the latest technology and clubs for you to choose from. The clothing area is pretty large. The shoe department is loaded with plenty to choose from. I'd like to see more Nike shoes (Nike head). The club selection has all the latest clubs on the market. The used/clearance are is not bad but overtime when people make trade-ins, I expect there will be more variety. Customer service is good. There were new employees working the register so it may take a few weeks before they are seasoned. All in all a good store to add to the selection of golf stores in Northern VA.

Went in to have a new shaft for my putter and a new grip. I was very specific about the length and after over paying for the service, turns out the length was over 2inches off. They said I would have to pay again to have it redone. What a joke

I came here looking to specifically test diff. Taylor Made drivers, to get a new one--said it as soon as I walked in. Save yourself some time and frustration and just go to the Golf Galaxy 5 mins. from this place! I walked in around 8:45p, immediately was greeted by a nice young man and pointed in the direction of what I needed (I went to get a new driver) then said someone would "be right with you." Standing in the area where the mini-range is, I was approached by the worker, Todd who was immediately short-tempered & dismissive, saying I "won't have enough time to find a driver I want" instead of just diving in to provide assistance. I responded "I'm aware, i just got off work and rushed here, I live far"-- which I shouldn't of even had to say b/c the store was still open...We had a back & forth where i tried to explain I wasn't there to BUY (I just wanted to compare Men's drivers so I could make a decision in order to buy) which was wasted time because meanwhile there were already 3 other people hitting off bays. He then gave false information re: mens shaft, insisting it would decrease my yardage and once I finally got to a bay, instead of focusing on helping me figure out what was best, he was inattentive and focusing on the bay next to me, like didn't even explain the club speed or what I should even be looking for, quite literally handed me the club and walked off--but then proceeded to say "you just don't have the power in your swing for a mens shaft"-- I've used a mens driver the past 7yrs and have multiple golf coaches, but instead of listening to what works best for me, the customer, he was adamant about switching me to Women's... I could go on but I'll stop here. Maybe it was because they were about to close & he was tired, maybe he was upset that he had to help a black person, maybe he really didn't want me hitting a mens driver--hard to tell...but either way that's no way to approach ANY customer, but especially one who came intending to spend over $500-just close the Bay at a set time everyday so your employees don't have horrible attitudes like Todd's! He seriously needs some customer service training and perhaps the Manager Adam too (I think) -- he was standing in the area listening to the exchange (or maybe not listening) and watching the inattentive behavior. All in all, came to this place thinking it was the best option b/c of the great products in the store--but it's not. Don't come here if you want actual guided assistance by someone who loves the sport like me. I went to Golf Galaxy (Zach Or Kyle) immediately after and left with a mens Taylor Made Stealth HD pre-ordered see the pictures for a comparison.

Very knowledgeable golf pros who advised me on which clubs to purchase. We considered many variables together, including trying to predict me interest level in a few years. Will I still want to play, so it's worth the investment in this set of 14 clubs? Suffice to say that the facility is outstanding, with fantastic high tech practice gadgets.

Grand opening for pga tour superstore saturday in fairfax, pga tour superstore is opening its fairfax location on saturday, offering a variety of services and supplies for golfers of all levels..

Michael O'Connell's profile picture

Michael O'Connell , Patch Staff

PGA Tour Superstore offers a large, multi-hole putting area for customers to practice on when they visit the store.

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — PGA Tour Superstore is set to open its first location in Virginia on Saturday in the Kamp Washington Shopping Mall in the City of Fairfax.

The national golf supplies and accessories retailer is privately owned by Arthur Blank, one the founders of Home Depot. He also owns the Atlanta Falcons and Mercedes Benz Stadium. The Fairfax store will be the company's 48th location, and it expects to add two more this year, according to general manager Jessica Conlan.

While the COVID-19 pandemic hit many retailers hard in 2020, PGA Tour has been able to open new stores, primarily because golf is something that can be played alone or socially distanced.

Interested in local real estate? Subscribe to Patch's new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.

"People went back to golf," Conlan said. "The biggest issue is almost supply and demand. The suppliers had to shut down during the pandemic and reevaluate how they would have their employees in the store. The product slowed down a little bit and the sales increased greatly."

pga tour superstore virginia

One of the most popular services the PGA Tour Superstore provides is its repair station, according to Conlan.

"Our biggest thing we do is regripping," she said. "We do thousands of regrips a year. People bring in their clubs. If you have three or less grips, we'll do it on the spot while you wait. If you're doing a set, it's a 24-hour turnaround. If you bring back something that's broken and it's under warranty, we'll ship it out to them."

pga tour superstore virginia

"You can buy a membership for $150, and that means that you can come in as often as you want for an entire year or two-year membership," Conlan said. "You can come seven days a week for a half hour at a time and use the practice space and just practice."

pga tour superstore virginia

PGA Tour Superstore specializes in selling everything a golfer at any level of experience would need, including clothing, shoes, hats, bags, balls and, of course, clubs.

"Young women is the fastest growing part of the golf industry right now," Conlan said. "We're very excited about that."

pga tour superstore virginia

Half of the Fairfax store's main floor is dedicated to women's clothing and golfing accessories.

"We have something for everybody, whether you're looking to put together a high-end outfit, or if you're trying to be a little more budget friendly, that's something that we can offer," Conlan said.

One of the things PGA Tour tries to do when it opens a new store is to make connections in the community. The second floor features a clubhouse, which local businesses or community groups, like high school golf teams, can reserve for meetings.

pga tour superstore virginia

One of there personalized services provided at the store is professional club fitting. Customers can sign up for one of the four interactive simulators, where an expert will work with them to find the best fitting club with the help of the simulator.

"If you're coming in for a fit, it's usually 20 to 30 minutes," Conlan said.

Customers looking for a more personal experience can pay to reserve one of the two simulators, which are dedicated to private fittings. These sessions typically take an hour to an hour and a half, according to Conlan.

"You have one-on-one, undivided attention and a little more privacy," she said. "Sometimes that's what they're looking for."

To celebrate the Fairfax location's grand opening on Saturday, the store will be offering $30,000 in giveaways.

"We'll have a DJ on the putting green doing announcements and throughout the day telling people what we're about and what we do," Conlan said. "There's a lot of specials for the grand opening, special buys and values throughout the store."

PGA TOUR winner, beloved Masters analyst Peter Oosterhuis dies at age 75

Change Text Size

Peter Oosterhuis was probably best known to U.S. sports fans as the longtime voice of the 17th hole at Augusta National during CBS’s annual coverage of the Masters. Golf fans, however, knew that “Oosty” was worth a listen because he could really play. The Englishman was a member of six consecutive Ryder Cup teams, first representing Great Britain and Ireland in 1971 and later competing alongside continental Europeans in the biennial tournament. Among the Americans Oosterhuis beat in singles are World Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller and Gene Littler, and he defeated Palmer twice.

Remembering Peter Oosterhuis: Analyst, PGA TOUR winner passes away at 75

Oosterhuis parlayed his stylish game and charming British accent into a long announcing career with several networks, including CBS, for more than 15 years following his playing career. Oosterhuis retired from broadcasting in 2014 to deal with the effects of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Oosterhuis passed away peacefully this morning, one day shy of what would have been his 76th birthday.

Born in London in 1948 as the country was rebuilding from World War II, Oosterhuis enjoyed a stellar amateur golf career; he became the first schoolboy to represent Great Britain & Ireland at the Walker Cup and was a member of the Eisenhower Trophy team. He turned professional in the late 1960s and won the 1969 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award on the DP World Tour. Oosterhuis dominated the Tour by winning the Harry Vardon Trophy as leading its Order of Merit in four consecutive seasons (1971-74).

After Oosterhuis won tournaments in Africa and Europe – including the national opens of France (twice, in 1973 and 1974) and Spain, seven DP World Tour titles and three on the Southern Africa Tour all told – he made his way to the States. He qualified for the PGA TOUR and played full time from 1975 to 1986.

Oosterhuis made his PGA TOUR debut at the 1971 Masters Tournament and eventually went on to play in 343 official tournaments. Oosterhuis is still tied for the all-time lead in Ryder Cup singles victories for either side with six.

In 1981, Oosterhuis enjoyed his best PGA TOUR season as he finished 28th on the final money list. He had been a steady money-winner, with three runner-up finishes to his credit, before he broke through at the Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club outside Toronto. Trailing by three shots entering the final round, Oosterhuis fired a final-round 70 in difficult conditions to beat Jack Nicklaus, Bruce Lietzke and Andy North by one shot. The first-prize check of $76,500 was more than he had earned in any previous season.

“What a way to win after watching those big names come in and mine still staying up there on the leaderboard,” he said. “I am fortunate that the course is so tough. It allows no one to make a powerful finish.”

The following year, he finished runner-up for the second time at The Open Championship, falling to Gary Player by four shots at Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s. Oosterhuis never won again, though, and eventually explored other careers in the game.

From 1987 through 1993, Oosterhuis was the Director of Golf at Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg, NJ and famed Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles. After working as the lead analyst for The Golf Channel’s incipient coverage of the DP World Tour, Oosty became a fixture on CBS’s broadcasting of the PGA TOUR, working the Masters from 1997 through 2014.

Having moved with his second wife Ruth Ann to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was a member at Quail Hollow Club, he retired from broadcasting following CBS’s coverage of the 2014 PGA Championship and later revealed he was battling with early-onset Alzheimer’s. He is survived by his wife, sons Rob and Rich, stepsons Byron and Matt and four grandchildren Peyton, Turner, Sutton and Lachlan.
