MSC Seascape Itineraries

Msc seascape review, review of msc seascape.

The 2022-built MSC Seascape cruise ship is Italy-built (by Fincantieri), MSC's 21th liner, and also the second SEASIDE EVO-Class vessel in the fleet - preceded by sistership MSC Seashore (2021).

The vessel (IMO number 9843807) is currently Malta- flagged (MMSI 256059000) and registered in Valletta .

History - construction and ownership

MSC Cruises (MSC Crociere) is a passenger shipping company headquartered in Genoa and Naples . It was established in 1960. Today, MSC Crociere is a subsidiary of MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) - the world's 2nd largest containership company . MSC is the world's largest privately/family-owned cruise company. By annual passenger shipping volumes, MSC is ranked the world's 4th largest cruise company - after Carnival Corporation , RCG-Royal Caribbean Group and NCLH-Norwegian .

In November 2017 MSC ordered 2x "Seaside EVO" class ships from Fincantieri (contract value EUR 1,8 billion). The new vessels are bigger (16 m longer, 17330 GT-tons larger, with 200 more cabins / 467 more passengers) in comparison to Seaview and Seaside . Newbuilds' deliveries were scheduled for 2021 (Seashore) and 2023 (Seascape). With Seaside EVO, MSC had a total investment of EUR 10,5 billion into 12 new vessels with scheduled deliveries by 2026.

The 4500-passenger "Seaside EVO" ship design is an enlarged version of MSC's Seaside-Class. Both classes were developed for year-round operations in warm climates. This explains signature features like large-sized outdoor areas, top-deck ropes course, 5-slide water park, 3x glass-floored catwalks, glass-walled (oceanview) elevators, wraparound Promenade Deck (lined with shops-bars-restaurants with both indoor-outdoor seating). Seaside-EVO ships have larger MSC Yacht Club (Suite-only complex), larger public areas, more outdoor whirlpools, more specialty restaurants with alfresco dining areas (on Promenade Deck 8), more staterooms.

MSC Seascape cruise ship

Among vessels' technological features are advanced water- and garbage treatment plants, latest-generation scrubbers (pollution control technology removing particulates some gases from ship's exhaust streams), optimized hull, anti-fouling paints (specialized underwater hull coating), advanced heat recovery system, LED lighting (throughout). The vessel is fully compliant with IMO's "Safe Return to Port" requirement (how long the cruise ship should remain safe for evacuation).

Seascape is also one of the "smart ships" series and part of MSC's EUR 13,6 billion (10-year / 2017-2027) fleet expansion program that includes 17 newbuilds - up to a combined fleet of 29 liners.

MSC Seascape is fitted with new technologies specifically designed to improve passengers' onboard digital experience. MSC partnered with Samsung to support NFC (near-field communication) technology enabling passengers to use digital devices (smartphones, cruise card, bracelets) to geolocate themselves (and their relatives, kids, travel companions), to access their staterooms or make onboard payments. Interactive screens throughout the ship allow real-time booking (cruise and tours) and making reservations (dining, spa, beauty treatments). Beacon technology sends location-based, customized notifications to passengers' phones as they move around the ship. Beacons are triggered whenever a connected device moves into their vicinity.

MSC Seascape Wiki

During MSC Seaside 's delivery ceremony (November 29, 2017), MSC announced an order for two "Seaside EVO" ships from Fincantieri (contract value EUR 1,8 billion). The new ships are 17,330 GT-tons larger, 16 m (52 ft) longer and with 467 more passengers ( capacity ) in comparison to the sisterships Seaview and Seaside. Deliveries were scheduled for 2021 May ( Seashore ) and 2022 November (Seascape).

In early-August 2018, MSC signed an agreement for EUR 1,5 billion (USD 1,74 billion) for both "Seaside EVO" shipbuilding projects. The financing was via a partnership with a syndicate of three lender banks (Unicredit, BNP Paribas, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti). Fully backing the credit line was the Italian export credit agency SACE SIMEST. With the addition of Seaside EVO ships, MSC had an unprecedented total investment of EUR 10,5 billion into 12 newbuilds with scheduled deliveries by 2027.

The vessel's keel-laying ceremony (aka coin ceremony) was held on June 24, 2021, at Fincantieri Monfalcone Shipyard (near Trieste, Italy ). The ceremony's godmothers (madrinas) were two employees - Silvia Bozzetto (Category Manager & Retail with MSC) and Jolette Vincenzi (Production Supervisor with Fincantieri). The godmothers placed 2 special edition coins under the keel block (hull's first block) for good fortune. The special event was attended by Pierfrancesco Vago (MSC's Executive Chairman) and Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri's CEO).

The vessel (yard/hull number 6307) was launched/floated out from drydock on November 18, 2021. The ceremony was attended by Giuseppe Bono (Fincantieri) and Pierfrancesco Vago (MSC). Curiously, on the same day was officially named the sistership MSC Seashore . Seashore's christening was held at MSC Ocean Cay (Bahamas) , making it the ever-first official ship naming ceremony held on a private island.

Fun fact is that the MSC EVO shipbuilding project (1 unit construction) involves 10+ million manhours of construction works and ~4000 shipyard employees. The ship design features large play areas for children, Adventure Trail ropes course, an interactive aqua park with 5x waterslides, 3x glass-floored catwalks, Promenade Deck (at sea level) lined up with shops-bars-restaurants (with both indoor-outdoor seatings), glass-walled (sea-view) elevators.

The company Shores Global LLC provided all the vessels' outdoor wicker furniture (on passenger cabin balconies and poolside) or 3000+ pieces (deckchairs and sun loungers per ship). The company is a major cruise ship furniture supplier, offering consulting (fabrics and materials) and production process management.

The ship was officially delivered to MSC from Fincantieri on November 16, 2022. The delivery ceremony (held at Monfalcone yard) was attended by Matteo Salvini (since 2022 - Italy's  Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility), Anna Maria Cisint (Monfalcone's Mayor), Massimiliano Fedriga (Friuli-Venezia Giulia's President), Admiral Nicola Carlone (Port Authorities' Commandant), Zoe Africa Vago (ship's godmother), Captain Roberto Leotta (ship’s Master), Pierfrancesco Vago (MSC), Gianluigi Aponte (MSC Group's Founder and Chairman), General Claudio Graziano (Chairman of Fincantieri's Board of Directors) and Pierroberto Folgiero (Fincantieri's CEO), Luigi Matarazzo (Fincantieri's General Manager Merchant Ships Division), Cristiano Bazzara (Monfalcone shipyard's Director).

MSC Seascape's christening ceremony was on December 7, 2022, held dockside at Manhattan Cruise Terminal in NYC (New York USA) . Untraditionally for MSC cruise ships, Seascape's godmother Sophia Loren (1934-born Italian film actress who named each new MSC liner since 2003) named the vessel virtually (via real-time live video streaming), while Alexa Aponte-Vago (daughter of Gianluigi Aponte/MSC Group’s founder and executive chairman) cut the ribbon and officially named the boat. The naming event was attended by 3000+ guests.

Seascape is MSC's first liner named in New York City. Starting in April 2023, the company plans to homeport at least one liner in NYC for year-round roundtrips leaving out of Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

With its new cruise ship, MSC Cruises tried to one-up itself.

MSC Seascape, the fourth vessel in the line's Seaside class and the sister ship to MSC Seashore, which launched last year. Seascape picks up where that ship left off with some striking, high-tech upgrades.

"Technology affects everything we do, and we care a lot about innovation," MSC Cruises USA President Rubén A. Rodríguez told USA TODAY.

That is evident throughout the ship, from its decor to its onboard activities. Seascape will sail its inaugural voyage from the U.S. on Sunday. As MSC has announced plans for an increased presence in the country , Seascape will serve as its new U.S. flagship, and the 20-deck vessel's debut marks an expansion of the line's stateside footprint.

Here's what guests can expect.

Where will MSC Seascape sail?

The nearly 2,300-cabin Seascape will sail from Miami this weekend, where it will spend its inaugural season. The ship will offer week-long Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries – the region it was purpose-built for – with stops in destinations such as San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Mexico and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the line's private island in the Bahamas.

What will MSC Seascape be like on board?

As its name would suggest, Seascape maximizes proximity to the water, with close to 140,000 square feet of outdoor space, Rodríguez said. Seascape also has a promenade measuring more than 1,700 feet long, where guests can get closer to the sea.

Like Seashore, the ship also pays homage to New York City – where many MSC guests come from – through design features like an LED wall that spans four decks featuring the skyline that changes from day to night in an entertainment and retail area named Times Square. There is also a replica of the Statue of Liberty standing nearly 10-feet high in the casino, according to the line's website .

Seascape also features a number of high-tech new features, including Robotron, a robotic arm ride where guests can choose their accompanying soundtrack and intensity level, and the arm moves in time with the music. Passengers can also try their hand at piloting an aircraft - from the safety of the ship – via a new VR flight simulator, or hit the road in VR motorcycles.

The ship has plenty of more traditional amenities too. There are six pools, including an infinity pool at the aft, a spa, and 30 restaurants, bars and lounges, like specialty venue Butcher's Cut and the Sky Bar, which has a view of the ship's glass-bottom Bridge of Sighs, according to MSC's website. Seascape also features two 20-person infinity hot tubs on either side of the deck 8 promenade.

What else do travelers need to know about MSC Seascape?

A week-long round-trip cruise from Miami departing April 9, with stops in Cozumel, George Town, Grand Cayman and more, starts at $1,136 based on double occupancy, according to the line's website . That includes most food and drinks such as regular coffee, tea and water.

Carnival Celebration: Take a peek at the line's newest ship

Each MSC ship is designed with accessibility in mind, Rodríguez said. The entire fleet features accessible cabins, according to its website , though numbers vary by ship. Passengers can notify the line of any requirements via an online form (you can find by clicking here)  or available through accredited travel agencies. However, the line asks guests to submit the form when they book their cruise, or no less than two business days before their sailing at the latest.

Sister ship to MSC Seashore , MSC Seascape sailed its maiden voyage from Rome to New York in December 2022. The 5,877-passenger, 1,648-crew-member vessel features the latest technology for energy efficiency. Its design pays tribute to New York City with a replica of the Statue of Liberty and an entertainment space called Times Square.

Seascape measures a whopping 1,112 feet long and features 139,930 square feet of outdoor space. Enjoy panoramic views from the Infinity Pool, walk over the glass-floored Bridge of Sighs or swim in the Marina Pool, featuring a 360-degree water fountain island and lounge.

On board, guests can ride the ROBOTRON, a thrill ride providing 360-degree views 175 feet above the sea. Families will love the enlarged MSC Kids Club, which provides 98 hours of live entertainment. Adults can spend time at the theater, casino and disco. The ship has an F1 racing stimulator for all ages to enjoy.

For accommodations, cruisers can choose between 11 types of staterooms and suites. Fifty suites include an extended balcony and 32 suites include private outdoor whirlpools. The ship features two Owner's Suites within the MSC Yacht Club, measuring 1,055 square feet.

The ship boasts 11 eateries, including three main dining rooms and five specialty restaurants. Enjoy Mexican cuisine at HOLA! Tacos & Cantina or Asian dishes at Kaito Teppanyaki and Sushi Bar. Seascape also boasts 19 bars.

MSC Seascape sails to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

U.S. News Insider Tip: The MSC Seascape is identical to the MSC Seashore except for one detail. The Seascape is outfitted with a Robotron thrill ride that flips, dangles and turns cruisers through the air on a dedicated platform toward the backend of the ship. – Holly Johnson, Contributor

MSC Cruises Drink & Bar Menus With PriceS – UPDATED

Last Updated on June 12, 2024

We spent a lot of time on a recent voyage with MSC Cruises trying to decipher the MSC drink menus and drink packages. We are posting the entire range of MSC drink menus to accompany the information recently published comparing the drink packages. These menus will also help people with the MSC Easy drink package better understand what’s included!

MSC Cruises Gratuities on Bar / Drink Purchases

Onboard bar purchases will incur gratuities, automatically added to all purchases : 15% gratuities on European, Emirates, South Caribbean, Red Sea, South America (Brazil and Argentina), and Far East itineraries, and 18% gratuities on North America itineraries. If you purchase a drink or beverage package, the price of the package includes the gratuities and you will not pay anything additional!

MSC Drink Menus

Ship wide drink list with prices *updated 2024 menus*.

This is the shipwide menu for bars, pool areas, main dining rooms, and lounges. This menu does not apply to specialty restaurants that have their own specific menus.

Master Wine List – Available in main dining rooms

This list is what is generally presented in any dining area or main dining room on MSC ships.

MSC Champagne Bar Menu

For MSC cruise ships with a Champagne Bar, this menu is presented, but they often have a full bar as well.

For people who have chosen the Easy Package or get it free with their cruise fare, there is a separate menu:

A word about the drinks on MSC Cruises

If you plan on enjoying your cruise without purchasing a drink package, you’ll see by the above menus that the prices of drinks really aren’t terrible compared to other cruise lines. However, a drink package is now more commonly included as a perk or incentive when booking a cruise with MSC . Even if there is a slight upcharge for an included Easy Package for you’re next cruise, you’ll likely find that it’s well worth it given that it includes bottled water, sodas and specialty coffee which is uncommon with most cruise lines.

I have seen price lists in Euro, and some in British Pounds. What does $ mean, what currency is this in please (NZ, USA, Aussie) ? It makes a huge difference.

Hi Chris, When we refer to $ it’s always USD on our site.

Hello, how are you? I made a summary between the Easy and Easy Plus packages

Easy • You can only drink Heiniken beer • If you want to drink rum, vodka, whiskey, gin, tequila (You cannot choose a brand) • If you want wine you can choose between Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel Rose, Cabernet or Merlot but the house wine, do not choose by brand. • It is not valid for specialized restaurants, that is, if one goes to one specialized in pasta or Mexican, it is paid outside the plan. • If someone wants to buy a drink that is more expensive, they pay the difference. • The minibar is paid separately • Tips are included

Easy Plus • You can choose a greater variety of beers, rum, vodka, gin • You can choose brands of wine • This package can be used in specialized restaurants. • If someone wants to buy a drink that is more expensive, they pay the difference. • Minibar is paid separately • Tips are included

Thomas, Yep! This basically points out the main differences. Thanks!

Hi, how are you? We are going in January on MSC Armonia for 7 nights. Will you have the same menu but with the Easy Plus package? I want to see what the difference is with the Easy.

I understand that in the Easy Plus you can choose a wider variety of cocktails, choose other brands of spirits, wine, beer and better coffee.

Can you help me please Regards

Hi Thomas, you can see the easy plus menu on this page about MSC Drink Packages . But just know that you can order from any menu. I hope this helps! Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for this ! Do you know if the basic drink package covers say a bourbon and coke drink ?

You know, that’s a good question. Our travel buddies were ordering generic like rum & coke – Vodka Tonic, etc… but didn’t ever hear anyone order any basic Bourbon. BUT They did seem to have something included in the easy / basic package for all alcohol types, so I can only assume they have a bourbon. If not, you only pay the difference in price if what you want isn’t included in the Easy package. The few times I have done that, it’s only been $2 or so for better drinks.

Hi Phil, yesterday I sent a small message about the MSC transfer between Milan Malpensa Airport and Genoa Port. A small modification: we should get from Milan to Genoa in the morning of June 22, not June 21, so I would like the information (timetable, etc.) by the 22 of June.Sorry for the modification. Thanks in advance for your reply: Agnes

Hi Agnes – I’m unfortunately not famliar with how MSC Handles busses or shuttles from the Milan airport 🙁 – but I do know the transport is usually only on the morning of the cruise for when they DO offer shuttles. If you’re arriving early, you’ll be on your own to get to Genoa and it’s a few hours by train. The trains are generally pretty reliable an on time, but give yourself plenty of room to work with. You can use Rome2Rio (link) and plan a route or hire a private car (expect to spend 200 euro to get there though!). Here’s a link to private services on Viator

Hi! We have a cabin (Seaside from Genoa – 7 nights) for 4 people: 2 adults, 2 children, we have Easy Package for all four people. By definition, children do not drink alcoholic beverages, but my question is, is ice cream(for the children) included in Easy Packae? Thanks in advance: Agnes

Hi Agnes, I think if you call MSC, they will downgrade the kids to a soft drink package and save you money. As for icecream, it was available at the outside cafe at no charge but it will not cover the specialty ice cream / Gelato at Philippe Maury & Venchi Chocolate

Does the prices in the drinks menu include the gratuity? Or we have to add the 18% to know the total price?

Lizette, If you don’t have a drink package, and you are purchasing the drinks one by one, then you’ll pay the gratuity on top of the price you’re seeing. I believe the gratuity has just increased to 18% from 15%

We are two people traveling on MSC Meraviglia. Looking at these prices (some of them equal to or better than any hotel or Pub), I don’t think we are going to spend $560 (2 non-alcoholic packages) on water, coffee, and sodas in our 10-day cruise.

I agree- The prices really aren’t bad compared to other cruise lines! The packages make the most sense when they’re included as a promotion in the base fare at a discounted rate. I have friends that recently did a 2 week cruise with MSC and the drink packages were as much as the cruise. They declined and ended up spending a fraction of what the drink package would have been. Definitely worth doing the math!

how can i find out what brands of scotch are included in the easy plus package

Hi Bill & Susan, You can see the main menu above (first menu) and page 7 has “whisky” …. which they’ve sort of put all scotch and whisky together.

Remember it’s anything up to $10 per drink, so there are quite a few basic options available.

It’s explained on another page here that the Easy Package includes drinks up to $7.50, but I don’t see these drinks listed in the menu provided above, only the $9 ones. Did I miss something? Or is it $7.50 plus a 20% gratuity so it is $9.00 as listed on the menu which also includes the tip.

Hi Cory – If you look at the menu at the top of this page – and flip to the first page of the menu, it has the drinks up to 7.50 which are included in the “easy” package. MSC Generally has a menu for drinks that are part of the “Easy Package” and not all have a price associated with them (They’re just included). The $7.50 amount has been established since they now allow you to get a drink that is more than the $7.50 limit by paying the difference. I hope that makes sense!

Thanks! Don’t know how I missed that. I did the calculation and for our group of mostly light or non-drinkers, the packages don’t make financial sense when everybody has to get the same package, especially when we are going to be in port during most days and will get paid drinks there.

Sure! If you’re light drinkers, MSC Often has a promo for Easy or Easy plus as part of a cruise fare. I find that is the best way to go when it’s available since it covers everything from premium coffee & bottled water, etc. Not sure if you saw our MSC Drink Calculator (here) . This might help as well!

I noticed one can order bottles of wine pre cruise to be delivered to your stateroom. The prices for which seemed reasonable at @$32. My question is can you get a bottle at a bar on board and take it to your room or would there be a corkage fee?

Hi Kim! If you get the bottles onboard where they are available, you’ll pay a gratuity but not a true “corkage” fee by just taking them back to your room. So Expect to pay whatever their automatic gratuity / service charge is – but nothing else.

Hi. Are these prices in australian dollars?

Hello! The prices are in US dollars unless otherwise noted (sometimes we post prices in Euro, but it’s clearly stated).

Your not in Alice Springs anymore, mate!

Are these also the same prices if you were to buy the drinks a la carte?

Hi Josh – Yes, this is the ship-wide price list even if you’re paying for the drinks 1 at a time. For package customers, it’s a reference as to what the package will cover more than anything.

Norwegian Luna vs MSC Seascape

Norwegian Luna cruise ship

The Norwegian Luna is still being built and will debut in 2026. The Norwegian Luna will be the 21st ship in the NCL fleet, debuting in April 2026. The Luna is still under construction and Norwegian hasn't released all the details yet. It's 4 years newer than the Seascape , which was built in 2022. The MSC Seascape has a New York City-inspired theme complete with a 10-foot-fall replica of the Statue of Liberty at the heart of the casino and shopping area called Times Square.

Comparison Overview

Number of passengers, food and restaurants, bars and drinks, pools and hot tubs, ship features and activities, cruise costs, onboard costs.

The Luna is considered a large size ship. Coming in at 1,056 feet long and 133 feet wide, it's roughly the length of 2.9 football fields, as wide as 2.5 tractor-trailers and the same height as a 15-story building. Compared to the MSC Seascape, the Luna is 8% smaller in terms of overall tons.

Norwegian Luna holds 40% fewer passengers than the Seascape based on double occupancy (two people per room). When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, or what we call the "Space Ratio," the Luna has more space per person compared to the Seascape. This means that you might have a bit more space to yourself on the ship, although there still could be some crowded areas like buffets, pools, etc.

Sukhothai on the Norwegian Luna

Food is a big part of any cruise, and the ship you choose can make a huge difference in your food experience.

The Luna has 17 different dining options like Sukhothai , Hudsons , and Cagney's Steakhouse . Of those options, 6 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 11 options have an additional fee.

The Seascape has 1 fewer dining venues. Some of its popular venues are Marketplace Buffet , Kaito Teppanyaki , and Ocean Cay Restaurant . 7 of these restaurants are complementary and the other 9 have an additional fee.

The Norwegian Luna has about the same number of dining options as the MSC Seascape.

If you're looking to avoid extra money while on board, the Seascape might be a better choice then the Luna. More of the dining options are included in the base cruise fare, potentially saving you money.

Metropolitan Bar on the Luna

The Norwegian Luna has 4 fewer bars than the MSC Seascape. The Luna has 15 bars like Improv at Sea, The Haven Bar and Vibe Beach Club Bar. On Luna, you can grab a drink at 19 different bars such as Champagne Bar, Le Cabaret Rouge and Seascape Bar.

In terms of drinks and cocktails, you have a variety of choices. Both ships serve the Coca-cola family of products. That means Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Barqs Root Beer, although the selection can vary by ship.

You can check out recent the bar menus for the Luna and the Seascape below.

The main pool on Norwegian Luna

Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there's not always room. If you want to spend all day for 7 days in a pool, a cruise isn't for you. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.

The Norwegian Luna has a total of 4 pools and 6 hot tubs. 1 of the pools and 4 of the hot tubs are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them.

MSC Seascape has more pools than the Luna and more hot tubs.

Both ships have lots of activities to keep you busy throughout your cruise. Below you'll see a list of some of the major features on these ships. On the Luna, 60% of the activities below are included in the cruise fare. On the Seascape, only 54% of the activities are included, meaning you might spend more money while on board.

Norwegian and MSC are both considered "Mainstream" cruise lines. Mainstream cruise lines cater to a variety of guests, hoping to provide something for everyone. These typically cost about $100 - $350 per person per day.

Cruise pricing is dynamic and varies for each specific sailing based on factors such as departure point, ports of call, and time of year. Typically newer ships cost more, so a cruise on Norwegian Luna will likely be more expensive than on MSC Seascape.

Another way to gauge the cost of a cruise is to consider how much you'll spend on board. Even though a lot is included in the base cruise fare, you may still spend money on things like spa treatments, specialty dining, drinks, and excursions. In addition, guests can also have to pay for things like gratuities and tips.

Typically guests can expect to spend about 25 - 40% of the cost of the cruise on onboard expenses. In other words, if the cruise fare is $1,000 per person, you might spend between $250 and $400 on extra expenses.

The table below will help you compare onboard prices to see if you might spend more on a specific ship.

Norwegian Cruise Line offers a Free at Sea fare. Through this program, guests receive free open bar, a discount on excursions, some free internet, and some meals at their specialty restaurants. If you book using this promotion, you'll be responsible for the gratuities on the dining and drink package. If you won't be using these options, booking a "sail away" rate that doesn't include the Free at Sea benefits is considerably cheaper. Also, most of these benefits are the base packages; you can spend more to upgrade to better alcoholic drinks or faster/more wifi.

MSC World Europa, delivered in November 2022, is the first LNG-powered vessel in MSC Cruises’ fleet and one of  the most environmentally advanced to date. MSC World America  will be the second in the cruise line’s innovative World Class when she launches in 2025, offering contemporary cruising in the Caribbean from Miami, with new, immersive and unique experiences at sea. MSC Virtuosa , is one of the most environmentally-advanced ship of our fleet, delivered in February 2021. With a total guest capacity of 6,334 passengers, she is the largest ship in the MSC Cruises global fleet. Her sister ship MSC Grandiosa  (from the Meraviglia Plus Class), came into service in November 2019. The smaller sister ships MSC Meraviglia  and MSC Bellissima  were the first two Meraviglia Class ships that came into service in 2017 and 2019. In 2023 another ship, MSC Euribia , powered by LNG will join the Meraviglia Plus Class fleet. MSC Seaside  (2017) and MSC Seaview  (2018) rewrite the rule book of cruise ship design, blending indoor and outdoor areas to connect guests with the sea like never before. With a guest capacity over 5000 passengers, MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview add a game-changing element to MSC our fleet. Two additional larger Seaside EVO ships, representing a further enhancement of the prototype, will have a capacity of 5,632 guests. The first one, MSC Seashore , was delivered in 2021. Her sister ship, MSC Seascape  joined in December 2022. The four Fantasia Class ships – MSC Preziosa  (2013), MSC Divina  (2012), MSC Splendida  (2009) and MSC Fantasia  (2008) – are large-size and modern ships. The fleet is projected to grow to 23 cruise ships by 2025.

Sustainability

Charting a sustainable future

We have long been committed to environmental stewardship with a long-term goal to achieve zero emissions for our operations. We are also a significant investor in next-generation environmental marine technologies, with the objective to support their accelerated development and availability industry-wide.

Our commitment to sustainability goes above and beyond our efforts to reduce our environmental impact. It is also reflected in the way we support our employees and those who choose to travel with us, as well as how we interact with our partners and the communities and places we visit.

This second phase investment plan is increased from €5.1 billion to €9 billion with the signing of a letter of intent to build a further four World class ships.

This second phase investment plan rose to €9 billion with the signing of a letter of intent to build a further four World class ships, each using liquified natural gas as energy source.

We consolidate our second fleet expansion plan with orders for two additional Seaside ships and a fifth Meraviglia vessel, bringing the total investment for the 2014-2026 period to €11.6 billion.

MSC Cruises consolidates its second fleet expansion plan with orders for two additional Seaside ships and a fifth Meraviglia vessel, bringing the total investment for the 2014-2026 period to €11.6 billion. Due to be delivered in 2021 and 2023, the two Seaside EVO ships will present an evolution of the successful Seaside platform and have a capacity of 5,646 guests. The fifth Meraviglia ship, which was delivered in 2023, has a capacity for 6,334 guests. Like the World class ships, she is equipped with LNG-powered engines.

Completion of MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore and strengthening our leadership in sustainability.

Thanks to the pioneering work that we had undertaken since the early days of the pandemic to develop our stringent health protocol, we managed to offer safe and carefree cruise holidays to our Guests throughout the whole year. Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic two new cruise ships joined our fleet in 2021 – MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore. We also advanced with our ambitions to grow our portfolio of cruise terminals, which allow us to anchor our presence in marquee homeports and offer the best service to guests while enabling us to foster a front-to-end integrated experience. In November, we opened the doors of the Nelson Mandela Cruise Terminal in Durban, South Africa. We also obtained final clearance to start building our exclusive cruise terminals in Barcelona and Miami as key embarkation ports in the western Mediterranean and the Caribbean. In 2021, we also took an important step forward in Sustainability and reinforced our industry leadership in this field by pledging to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 for our marine operations.

Delivery of MSC World Europa, the first LNG-powered ship of our fleet and introduced technologies to reduce our impact on the environment

In 2022 we were delighted that we finally saw the restart of the entire fleet and progressively and safely ease Covid restrictions. We also continued to make significant progress along our sustainability journey. Over the year, we launched two new ships. In October, we took delivery of the MSC World Europa, the first to be LNG-powered. It features a pilot solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and incorporates a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system – which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90% by converting the gas into nitrogen and water – and shore-to-ship power connectivity, which allows MSC World Europa to minimise engine use at ports wherever the portside infrastructure is available. In November, we took delivery of the MSC Seascape. MSC Protectours, our dedicated excursions specifically designed to educate our guests and promote responsible tourism and responsible travel become more widely available.

We conducted the world's first ever net zero Greenhouse Gas emissions voyage, inaugurated our new terminal facilities in Durban (South Africa) and launched Explora I, the first of six ships from our new luxury brand Explora Journeys.

MSC Euribia, our second LNG ship, conducted the world’s first ever net zero Greenhouse Gas emissions voyage utilising Bio-LNG using mass-balance, the most cost-effective and environmentally efficient method of delivering the benefits of renewable LNG.

The first steel was cut for the second of our World Class ships, MSC World America. Sales opened for her itineraries, where she will homeport in our new state-of-the-art terminal at Port Miami, from 2025. A further two World Class ships were confirmed with shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique, with an option for a fifth.

MSC Meraviglia became MSC Cruises’ first ship to homeport in New York, conducting year-round sailings. This marked a third homeport in the USA, in addition to Miami and Port Canaveral. This was followed by sales opening at our fourth homeport of Galvaston, Texas.

MSC Cruises conducted an industry first, as two ships departed at the same time for separate 117 and 119-day world cruises - MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia.

And in South Africa, we celebrated the inauguration of our new terminal facilities in Durban.

In the autumn, a new era for the Cruise Division of MSC Group began, with the launch of Explora I, the first of six ships from our new luxury brand, Explora Journeys, expanding the options for ocean travel to a new audience of luxury traveller.
