Most have been updated to the new CC3+ format now, but the older software will still read them fine

Technically, these plans fall into two categories. The earlier ones were drawn in another application (Floor Plans Plus for Windows 3 believe it or not!) and converted to CC2. Everything in the converted plans has ended up on one layer of the CAD drawing, which makes it impossible to do clever things like hide all the cabin fittings before printing and so on. Also some of the labels have come out a bit bigger than they should; normally these aren't a problem but if they are, mail me and I'll amend the problem plan and repost it. One other thing; the colours have come out a litte weird. To start with, the converted plans will appear white-on-black in CC when you load 'em - don't panic, they won't print like that. But the colours are a bit meaningless, so you'll be better off printing them monochrome rather than in colour.

  • The bulkheads and walls
  • Furniture, fittings and details
  • Labels and text
  • Deckplan 1.5m grid

Plus the colours mean something (I hope!) so it's worth printing them in colour.

Layered CC3 Deckplans

Ueknou vargr corsair - digest group, vilani and vargr, freight tractor 'heyan rose' - games workshop, from iiss ship files, type t scout/courier - hugh foster, type ce close escort - gdw, from traders and gunboats and many other places, dragon class systems defence boat - gdw, traders and gunboats, empress marava class far trader - gdw, traders and gunboats, beowulf class free trader - digest group, starship operator's handbook, explorer class 300-ton scout ship - white dwarf, issue um, something or other, type h 100-ton bounty hunter - white dwarf, issue um, dunno, brushfire class mercenary assault ship - hugh foster, iylvir class light assault troop carrier - games workshop, from iiss ship files, converted deckplans, covenanter class scout/gunboat - gdw, from tne iirc.

  • Covenanter (42k)

On the face of it, it looks crackers. Two of the old classic ships welded together - a Scout/Courier glued on the front of a CE Close Escort. However, it does make a vaguely usable vessel, and is certainly interesting. For sure, TNE had a lot worse ideas.

Gyrfalcon Mercenary Assault Carrier (a Type R conversion) - Hugh Foster

  • Gyrfalcon (22k)

Built on the basic Subsidised Merchant design, the Gyrfalcon is capable of delivering 50 marines to surface or deploying them in assault g-carriers from orbit. Virtually all ship systems are upgraded from the original, and the vessel can take care of itself in a fight if need be.

Mormcry Provincial Merchant - Hugh Foster

  • Mormcry Deck A (33k)
  • Mormcry Deck B (15k)
  • Mormcry Deck C & D (25k)

The Mormcry is a large merchant, designed for speculative trade out on the edge of civilized space, where things get a bit rougher.

Type S Scout/Courier - GDW, from Traders and Gunboats and just about everywhere else

  • Scout/Courier (29k)

I really don't have to describe this one, do I? None the less, as with all my plans, there's a bit more detail in this than the originals, so if your party drive one of these, this is worth downloading.

Type R Subsidised Merchant - GDW, Traders and Gunboats

  • Type R (45k)

See the notes for the Scout above. The famous "ship with no bog". I remember someone on the Traveller Mailing List once proving that it was impossible to make a living trading in one of these, but that's more economics than I like with my roleplaying, thank you.

Vigilante 600-ton liner/StarMerc conversion - GDW, Assignment: Vigilante

  • Vigilante (73k)

A peculiar-looking vessel, it none the less looked to me like a doozy for making players fight their way though, so I made up some plans. Haven't used 'em yet, but there's always time.

Type M Subsidized Liner was first released in our Kickstarter campaign Traveller Starship Miniatures. This package includes one starship but it comes in two different scales. An iconic ship from the Traveller Role-Playing Game, the model is based on the version by Ian Stead and has been beautifully rendered in 3D printable form.

We have designed the starship miniatures to print in two scales. The first, '1:270' scale, was popularised by the X-Wing tabletop dogfighting game, and this version of the ship is scaled accurately to our other ships from Traveller Starship Miniatures. It make for great display piece, and while large on the table, it's not so large as to be impractical.

The second scale is 'Tactical scale', which scales the ship down to fit on a 1 inch hex base stand. The different campaign miniatures are not in scale to each other, but these are of a practical size to be played on a one-inch hex map for tactical combat.

You will need a 3D printer or print service in order to print the parts. The parts have been designed with both FDM (filament) printers and SLA (liquid resin) printers in mind. FDM versions are optimised for printing at 150 microns (0.15 mm layer height) using PLA. Resin versions have been pre-supported with unsupported versions also available.

This package includes one miniature starship (in both 1:270 and Tactical scale), clips and stands:

Still the Prettiest.

  • Feb 24, 2009

I want to try my hand at creating the deck plans for starships in Traveller. Can anyone give me any guidance on how many squares per displacement ton? How do I figure it out? Thanks in advance, eskatonic

Dropkicker

Part Time Dilettante

A dTon is usually two squares or 1.5m x 3.0m x 3.0m.

Well, that's easy enough! Thanks!

  • Dec 19, 2017

Wrong. A dton is 1.5 meters x 1.5 meters x 3 meters.

If, for some reason, you want to do this in Imperial or US customary measure, one displacement ton is approximately 500 cubic feet, and so with a 10 ft. high deck, a ton has a floor area of 50 ft.^2, or 5 ft. x 10 ft. Another convention was a 14 m^3 displacement ton, giving 3.5m from deck to deck and a floor area of 2m x 2m.

Rose Embolism

Rose Embolism

OK. Officially, as of Megatraveller, a Displacement Ton is the volume taken up by a ton of hydrogen, or 13.5 cubic meters. This comes out to a deck area of 3 meters X 3 meters X 1.5 meters. If you assume 3 meter high decks, then one ton equals two 1.5 meter squares. And yes, this makes no sense for any spaceship with something corresponding to a real-world drive. Call it thrusters and move on.

Anfelas

The only problem is that MT got their definition of a ton of liquid hydrogen data wrong or more likely confused with the deckplan scale. 13.5m^3 is the size of a deckplan displacement ton if you go with 2x(1.5x1.5x3)m^3 The folks at DGP who wrote MT got a lot of their ship based stuff wrong. Just for the sake of accuracy the volume occupied by 1 metric ton of liquid hydrogen is 14.1m^3 at 20.3K (its boiling point) and 14.3m^3 at 14K (its melting point).

Two squares (1.5 m x 1.5 m) per dton and 3 m as deck height is the standard among most editions. Keep in mind that the room height isn't 3 m, but there are ducts, cables, pipes and equipment under the floor and above the ceiling. For odd shapes, 14 m³ per dton is a good approximation.

A Timeline is a listing of significant historical events within the setting , in this case, the OTU .

  • The specific chronological periodization used varies between the term era and milieu . Sometimes 'milieu' is pluralized the French language way as 'milieux', in the manner of the French language from which an ancestor of Anglic borrowed the word.
  • The chronological timeline is specific to the overall sweep of Charted Space . The Technology Levels or Technological Timeline are specific to each race of sophonts.
  • The timeline here exists because of the immense work poured into the Traveller Integrated Timeline .
  • Please also see Setting .
  • 1.1 The TEN Chronological Eras
  • 2 Tracking With Real Time
  • 3 History & Background
  • 4 References & Contributors (Sources)

Description ( Specifications ) [ edit ]

The broad sweep of history is divided, roughly, into TEN eras. These eras are largely based upon the rise and fall of Humaniti and their empire of the stars . While other races , particularly the other Major Races , may have a differing division of eras, the Imperial Encyclopedia uses the Humaniti -centric one.

The TEN Chronological Eras [ edit ]

1. Years of the Long Silence ( -300,000 to -9236 )

  • A pre-history of the Ancients and other precursors such as the Kursae .

2. Rise of the Vilani ( -9235 to -4046 )

3. First Imperium ( -4045 to -2423 )

4. Interstellar Wars ( -2422 to -2205 )

5. Second Imperium ( -2204 to -1776 )

6. Long Night ( -1775 to 0 )

7. Third Imperium AKA Golden Era ( 0 to 1115 )

8a. Rebellion , Collapse and Virus ( 1116 to 1220 )

8b. Imperium Eternal AKA Lorenverse , an alternate timeline.

9. Fourth Imperium ( 1221 +)

10. The Galaxiad ( 1900 +)

Tracking With Real Time [ edit ]

From the first adventures in the Imperium, Traveller has linked the setting time in a 1:1 relationship to real time. Specifically, the OTU calendar year 1105 was created in 1979, and each day added one day to the setting as well. As a result, for example, adventures written in 1984 took place in the OTU in 1110.

This presents the ability for groups to coordinate by calendar.

An attachment of calendar date to the various milieux of the OTU can be reset to 2020 as follows:

History & Background [ edit ]

Traveller also contains at least one official canon alternate timeline:

Alternate Timelines: Category: Years of the Imperium Eternal ( 1117 to Inflection with the OTU Timeline around 1450)

  • GURPS Alternate Timeline — Strephon is not assassinated, the Rebellion did not occur, and Virus was not released. Artificial intelligence still emerges with technology, and the Wave still breaks over Charted Space as usual; the timeline inflects with the OTU somewhere around 1450 Imperial.
