The 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want To Play

Alex Williamson avatar

For years, we've released annual looks at the world's best disc golf courses , the best disc golf courses in each U.S. state , and  the most popular disc golf courses in each state based on stats from UDisc, the world's top disc golf app. But something we've only done once is see which courses the highest number of people dream of playing.

Don't worry; we don't have a mind-reading or dream infiltration department. We can figure this out by checking which disc golf courses have been wishlisted by disc golfers with UDisc the most.

The 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want to Play: Navigation

  • How does wishlisting disc golf courses in UDisc work?
  • How did you come up with this top 100 list?
  • U.S. states with the most disc golf courses in the top 100
  • A few notes of interest about this top 100
  • Good info to know before reading the full list
  • The 100 U.S. disc golf courses people most want to play: Full list

How Does Wishlisting Disc Golf Courses in UDisc Work?

Every time you view a course on the UDisc app where you have no recorded rounds, you'll see the Add to Wishlist option to the right of the course rating. If you tap it,  the course is then added to your wishlist. When you search for courses, you can filter by wishlist and see where the courses are in the world that have caught your eye.

You can also see a map of every course you've wishlisted when you...

  • Open the UDisc app
  • Tap the More tab
  • Scroll to Discover
  • Tap Courses played / wishlist
  • Tap Wishlist near the top of your screen

Two screenshots of the UDisc app demonstrating how to wishlist courses

If you're going on trips, this is a great way to see if any of your must-plays are anywhere near your destination (or if you end up with clusters in certain areas, a good way to plan your next trip). Once you play a course, your wish has been fulfilled, and it leaves your wishlist.

Currently, wishlisting isn't possible with the web version of the UDisc course directory.

How Did You Make the List of the 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want to Play in 2023?

We ranked U.S. courses based on how many disc golfers with UDisc added them to their wishlists in 2023. Because we plan to update these rankings annually and want them to reflect which courses are the freshest additions to disc golfers' daydreams, we didn't include any wishlist totals prior to January 1, 2023.

Which U.S. States Have the Most Disc Golf Courses People Dream of Playing?

It seems that a lot of disc golfers are making like James Taylor and going to Carolina in their minds. With a whopping 16 courses in the top 100 most wishlisted in the United States, North Carolina has more by far than any other state.

A man putts into a disc golf basket tucked among large boulders

Impressively, five of North Carolina's courses in the top 100 are all located in or very near one town:  Charlotte. The state's most populous city is known as a disc golf mecca and has hosted the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship for five years running.

Most of the other courses people are longing to play in the Tar Heel State – with the notable exception of the highly-regarded Diavolo – are in its western foothills and mountains. One of those in Asheville is among the best brewery disc golf courses in the world.

Some Things Worth Noticing About This Top 100

  • Maple thrill One course is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to making wishlists: The legendary Maple Hill. This isn't particularly surprising given its reign as the world's #1 disc golf course in general for three years straight and the media attention the Disc Golf Pro Tour's annual MVP Open brings. Still, beating all other U.S. courses in the directory in wishlist total by nearly 40% is extremely impressive.
  • Four reasons most courses made the list When we glance through this top 100, we see four strong themes that likely explain why most courses are there. In no particular order, the list is mostly courses that are A) top-rated, B) on the Pro Tour, C) near a big city, and/or D) very scenic. Only a very few courses don't fit in one or more of those categories.
  • The country's first permanent disc golf course makes the cut. The first permanent disc golf course with baskets ever in the U.S. and world was installed in 1975 in what was then Oak Grove Park (now Hahamongna Watershed Park) in California, and it's still playable today. Despite all the new players post-pandemic, enough disc golfers knew their history to earn the course a spot in this top 100.
  • No non-contiguous states in the top 100 Despite dreamy backdrops like at Hawaii's Mauka Disc Golf Course or the call of adventure some might feel when taking a peek at the best course in Alaska, Kincaid Park , no course from either of these non-contiguous U.S. states made this post's top 100. Maybe disc golfers like dreaming of courses that seem a bit easier to get to, or maybe the word's just not out about these awesome places to experience unique rounds.
  • A great way to discover a new daydream Given that helping other disc golfers discover great courses has always been at the core of UDisc's mission, we tend to keep tabs on which courses are building up reputations. However, this list gave even us a few new courses to drool over, and we hope it helps get your wonderlust running high, too.

What to Know Before Reading This Top 100

  • Mobile and tablet users can swipe left/right on the table to see all columns.
  • You can see photos, reviews, availability, and more of any course in the table by just tapping or clicking its name.
  • The U.S. Wish Grade  is based on how often a course was wishlisted in the UDisc app as compared to the #1 most wishlisted course in the country. Like a test graded on a curve, the #1 course has a score of 100.0 and the other courses' grades are based on how their wishlist totals measure up to that top mark.
  • The  Rating  is the course's rating out of five stars based on the opinions of disc golfers with UDisc at the time we pulled these stats shortly before the publication date. Depending on when you read this, the course rating may be different in the directory than it is here.
  • A green dollar sign ($) under "Fee?" means a course is a traditional pay-to-play.
  • A blue dollar sign ($) means that there is a fee associated with playing a course that isn't directly related to disc golf. Examples include parks that charge entry fees no matter what activity park-goers plan to do and parking fees.
  • No dollar sign means a course is free to play as far as we know.

DGPT Announces 2023 Event Schedule

us pro tour disc golf

For Immediate Release:

September 30th, 2022: The Disc Golf Pro Tour is pleased to release its 2023 schedule in unison with next year’s PDGA Pro Major schedule. In total, the Tour will represent twenty-eight tournaments (including the 2022-2023 wrap around schedule) across five event designations. All events will earn points towards the 2023 Tour Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Schedule Breakdown By Designation

us pro tour disc golf

“As our staff, players, and fans gear up for the 2022 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship, we’re excited to share a first look at our 2023 Tour schedule,” said DGPT CEO & Tour Director Jeff Spring. “The 2023 season will be another big step forward for the Tour, building on the rock-solid foundation that we’ve grown with this incredible group of touring professionals and our fantastic event teams and partners. Next season’s schedule is designed with the goals of sustainability and professionalism for players and the creation of compelling storylines and action for fans both onsite and online. We aim to continue to usher in a new age of pro disc golf for the players and fans that have made this growth possible. As always, the collaboration with the PDGA is crucial in finalizing a schedule that works well to serve all stakeholders. We thank them for their help in this complicated process, especially in regards to their flexibility on a date adjustment for amateur and junior worlds!”

The most significant portion of the 2023 schedule is dedicated to thirteen Elite Events. In addition to eleven returning events, the Pro Tour heads to Austin, TX, to add The Open at Austin (formerly the Silver Series event, The Open at Belton) and promotes the Music City Open to Elite Status.

Two of the thirteen returning Elite events from the 2022 schedule will carry a new designation of Elite+ . While not a new PDGA-sanctioning tier, Elite + events will feature bigger purses, additional media focus, and elevated spectator experiences. Similar to the playoffs, Elite+ events will be four-round tournaments, with a cut after round three, and will deliver more DGPT Points. The first-ever Elite+ events are the Portland Open and the Ledgestone Open. “We look to continue to grow our slate of Elite+ events in the future,” said Spring. “We’re excited to use these events as an opportunity put more external eyes on our players, the Tour, and most importantly, the sport as a whole.”

After its inaugural year, the DGPT playoffs will return, with Discraft’s Great Lakes Open and the MVP Open at Maple hill carrying the playoff designation. These events will meet similar added cash standards of Elite+ events and will continue to play a significant role in determining which players qualify for the Tour Championship. The Tour Championship is considered a part of the playoffs but will not award any points.

“We’ve got another exciting end of the season lined up with the PDGA Pro World Championships at Smugglers’ Notch Resort happening in concert with the 2023 playoff events,” said Spring. “With PDGA Pro Majors maintaining heavyweight status on the 2023 points scale, the last three months of next year’s season will provide ample opportunities for movement around the cut line for the Tour Championship.”

More details on 2023 playoff events will be released in the coming months.

DGPT Silver Events (formally referred to as the Silver Series ) will also return in 2023 and award more tour points than in previous seasons. With two events already on the schedule as 2022-2023 wrap-around season tournaments, 2023 will see the addition of at least five Silver Events, with several events making their debut on the Pro Tour schedule for a total of seven stops so far. 2024 Masters one and done picks, DFS lineups, sleepers, fantasy golf projections, longshots by PGA expert

Mike mcclure locked in his expert pga golf picks, daily fantasy lineups, fantasy golf projections and sleepers for masters 2024 at augusta national.

scheffler.jpg

The 2024 Masters gets underway on Thursday from Augusta National Golf Club at 10:30 a.m. ET, a two-and-a-half hour delay due to storms. No golfer around the world is playing better right now than World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler. The 2022 winner of this event, Scheffler won the elevated Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and again the following week at the Players Championship. He then nearly won for the third straight tournament, missing a putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff at the Houston Open. The tee-to-green specialist gained 17 strokes on the field when he won here in 2022 and will try to continue his torrid run. Given his run of dominant play, should Scheffler be the top choice when constructing your 2024 Masters DFS picks, 2024 Masters fantasy golf rankings, and 2024 Masters one and done strategy? Before locking in your 2024 Masters one and done picks, Masters DFS lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel, and fantasy golf projections, you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say .

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his  golf picks . He is up almost $9,500 on his best bets since the restart.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

McClure has been on fire with his One and Done picks in 2024. At The American Express, he backed Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600. At the Genesis Invitational, McClure tabbed Patrick Cantlay, who finished in fourth place at the signature event, as his top OAD pick. At the Cognizant Classic, McClure's top one and done pick, Min Woo Lee, finished in a tie for second place. Finally, at the Arnold Palmer Invitation, another signature event, McClure recommended using Scheffler and Will Zalatoris. The result: Scheffler won the event by five strokes, and Zalatoris finished in fourth place.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed McClure's picks has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has dialed in on the 2024 Masters golf tournament and just locked in his one and done picks, DFS projections and Fantasy Golf predictions. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge. You can only see McClure's Masters 2024 one and done picks, DFS lineups and Fantasy Golf plays at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Masters One and Done picks

One of McClure's top One and Done picks for the Masters is Brooks Koepka. Though his recent form hasn't been overly impressive, with only one top-10 finish in 2024, Koepka is a 'big game hunter' who thrives in major tournaments. In his last five Masters Tournaments, the American has two second place finishes and a seventh.

The winner of last year's PGA Championship, Koepka has four wins and 12 top-10 finishes in his last 21 majors. With a green jacket because his most treasured goal going forward, Koepka is a viable play again at Augusta. McClure is once again confident in the five-time major champion's chances this week.  You can see who else to back at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Masters DFS picks, lineup advice

One golfer McClure is targeting in his 2024 Masters DFS lineups is Justin Thomas. The 15-time PGA Tour winner has long been considered one of the top ball-strikers and irons players in the world and has a proven track record of success in big events. Thomas has two career major championships and six top-25 finishes in eight career starts at Augusta National.

Thomas' ability to card birdies and eagles makes him standout among the field when building Masters DFS lineups. He enters Masters week ranked sixth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained on approach (0.795) and 12th in strokes gained tee-to-green (1.124). After a disappointing 2023 season, Thomas has bounced back with four top-12 finishes already in 2024.  You can see the rest of McClure's Masters DFS picks at SportsLine .

Top 2024 Masters Fantasy Golf picks, projections

One of McClure's top fantasy golf picks is Scottie Scheffler. He's won eight times in the last 26 months and been No. 1 in the world for the last 47 weeks in a row (81 total). You'll pay a premium for Scheffler and he'll be highly rostered in Masters DFS tournaments as well as the first player off the board in any draft format, but that's a price you should be willing to play considering how dominant he's been of late.

Scheffler has two wins and a runner-up finish over his last three starts, which happens to coincide with a putter change that has helped make him nearly a tour-average putter. Considering that he's already the world's best ball-striker (2.798 strokes gained: tee-to-green per round), his game could be elevated. Scheffler has never finished worse than 19th in four starts at Augusta and the 2022 Masters champion is a +325 favorite (bet $100 to win $325) in the 2024 Masters odds.  You can see the rest of McClure's Masters fantasy golf picks at SportsLine .

How to make Masters 2024 picks, long shot bets

McClure is also targeting targeting six other golfers with odds of 20-1 or longer who will make a strong run at the green jacket. You can find out who they are, and check out all of McClure's Masters picks and best bets at SportsLine .

Who will win the Masters 2024, and which golfers should you target for your PGA one and done picks, DFS lineups, and Fantasy Golf plays this week at Augusta National Golf Club?
