SALE!!!! In honor of the premiere of the final season of Discovery, we’re having a 15% off sale! Use coupon code DISCOS515 at check-out to get your discount!
ANNOUNCEMENTS! We’ve mentioned here and there that we have some big plans for 2024. First off, thank you to everyone who has supported us by buying our kits, and for the love that’s been shown for our work. We’re pleased that you like what we’ve done. This is a lengthy post, but please read to the end for a special announcement.
As you know, we’ve been diligently working on the Sagan/Echelon. We won’t commit to a release date but our personal target date is end of April/Early May.
Immediately after we finish/release the Sagan/Echelon, we’ll be releasing wallpaper decals for our Constellation Class.
After that: the Neo Connie will be coming in the much-requested 1/1000 scale, as well as wallpaper decals to match! We’ve also made some minor updates to the model for that scale. No pricing is set yet.
After that: a 1400 scale Odyssey Class. Like all our latest kits, this will be lightable! We’ve tested it and we’ve found that we can fit the Odyssey in our Elegoo Jupiter, (but who’s to say we won’t get a bigger printer?). Also, the attached image is NOT the model we will be using, as we actually haven’t gotten to a point where we can print anything.
Somewhere in all this will also be the release of a 1400 scale Ferengi D’Kora, aka, the Marauder. We’ve been working on this kit FOR YEARS, and it’s time that it get’s its due.
Please keep in mind that the only release date we’re committing to these kits is “2024”.
Thank you again for your continued support! And, because we love you and we love all of Star Trek, to commemorate the start of the final season of Star Trek Discovery, we’re having a SALE! Use coupon code DISCOS515 to get 15% off your order!

Comes in 44 pieces, with clear parts, and includes registry decals for the USS Intrepid and USS Trumbull, pennants, phaser strips, transport emitters, lifeboats, and other details. There is a pre-made hole for a stand that uses a 3/16” rod.

The main kit will be $160USD, and the Wallpaper Decals are $40USD. And yes, we ship internationally!
You can place your order HERE .

ANNOUNCEMENTS! We will no longer be offering custom decals. This is temporary for now, but we have to streamline a few things on our end and this is surprisingly time consuming and takes up a good bit of resources. We will fulfill all outstanding orders, but as of today, that page will no longer be available. Apologies for this. Also, at the end of January we will cease sales of the original California Class kit. Round 2 models will be releasing an official kit this year and we do not want to go head to head with an officially licensed product. The S2R version however, will not be going anywhere. It’s a fan re-design, and hopefully will not run afoul of licensing laws.

Happy New Year everyone! No real update today. We’re busily working on the Duderstadt still. We’re currently at the decal development stage. As soon as we finish that and release the ship, we will move forward with the Sagan’s development. Apologies for the delay, but Life and the Holidays really took the steam out of us. Also, we just wanted to put it out there since we’ve received a good bit of inquiries lately: No, we cannot, and will not, offer the Neo Constitution Class in 1/350 scale. Mainly because at that scale, the kit will be 63 inches, or 160 cm, long. The official size of the ship is 560.5m (and please don’t come at us saying that the official size is wrong because windows or whatever). We don’t have a printer big enough to print the kit in it’s current incarnation at that size, nor do we have the desire to rebuild the entire kit in a manner to make it 63″ long. Besides, shipping alone will be a monster. Now, if you want a version of the kit at roughly the same size as the Round 2 350 kit, then you’re looking at a 1000, or maybe even a 650 scale. Or, the Bill Krause size of 788 scale. And we offer none of those. Not officially anyway. Thank you and please keep an eye out in this space for more news and information on our upcoming kits!

Few bits of news:
News 1 : Our sale was a huge success! Because of that, along with real life circumstances, we’ve fallen behind a bit on orders. We have 20 orders going out this week, but we missed our regular shipment last week. We’re hoping to get more out later this week, and will hopefully get a few extra along with the usual amount next week. Thank you all for your patience. News 2 : Unfortunately our FDM printer has failed and we haven’t been able to troubleshoot it yet. We’re working on it but for now the Brick and Stone stands are unavailable for purchase. I’m keeping the links to the STL files up for download and your own printing. I’ll get to it as quickly as possible. News 3: Because of the aforementioned real life circumstances, we’ve fallen behind on the modeling of the Sagan class by a couple weeks. Hoping to get rolling on again that soon. As of now, all free time is spent packaging and printing. Thank you again for your understanding and patience!

We have removed the sale of the Enterprise-G decals. It was a limited time offer for existing customers who had previously purchased our Neo Constitution kit, but wanted to update it from the Titan-A to Enterprise-G. We’ve also been made aware that these decals, as well as our wallpaper decals are being purchased for use with another Neo Constitution kit that’s available on Thingiverse. Our decals are made specifically for our kit, and we do not guarantee, nor will assist or refund, the decals if not used on our kit.

Here’s how it works: On PC, ready the starship you want printed, and head to the ship tailor. You’ll find a brand-new button that reads, “3D Print This Ship.” Clicking on this will bring you to the option to learn more about this process, or to print this ship. Once you’ve chosen to print the ship, it’ll upload directly to our partner, Mixed Dimensions, who will offer you three different options to print. You can print it in a solid color, to recreate the trophies of your personal Ready Room. You can print a primed version of the model for you to paint yourself. Or you can have Mixed Dimensions’ talented staff hand paint a replica of your favorite ship, with your name, registry number, and customizations.

How 3D printers can give robots a soft touch
Soft skin coverings and touch sensors have emerged as a promising feature for robots that are both safer and more intuitive for human interaction, but they are expensive and difficult to make. A recent study demonstrates that soft skin pads doubling as sensors made from thermoplastic urethane can be efficiently manufactured using 3D printers.
"Robotic hardware can involve large forces and torques, so it needs to be made quite safe if it's going to either directly interact with humans or be used in human environments," said project lead Joohyung Kim, a professor of electrical & computer engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. "It's expected that soft skin will play an important role in this regard since it can be used for both mechanical safety compliance and tactile sensing.
As reported in the journal IEEE Transactions on Robotics, the 3D-printed pads function as both soft skin for a robotic arm and pressure-based mechanical sensors. The pads have airtight seals and connect to pressure sensors. Like a squeezed balloon, the pad deforms when it touches something, and the displaced air activates the pressure sensor.
Kim explained, "Tactile robotic sensors usually contain very complicated arrays of electronics and are quite expensive, but we have shown that functional, durable alternatives can be made very cheaply. Moreover, since it's just a question of reprogramming a 3D printer, the same technique can be easily customized to different robotic systems."
The researchers demonstrated that this functionality can be naturally used for safety: if the pads detect anything near a dangerous area such as a joint, the arm automatically stops. They can also be used for operational functionality with the robot interpreting touches and taps as instructions.
Since 3D-printed parts are comparatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture, they can be easily adapted to new robotic systems and replaced. Kim noted that this feature is desirable in applications where cleaning and maintaining parts is expensive or infeasible.
"Imagine you want to use soft-skinned robots to assist in a hospital setting," he said. "They would need to be regularly sanitized, or the skin would need to be regularly replaced. Either way, there's a huge cost. However, 3D printing is a very scalable process, so interchangeable parts can be inexpensively made and easily snapped on and off the robot body."
Tactile inputs like the kind provided by the new pads are a relatively unexplored facet of robotic sensing and control. Kim hopes that the ease of this new manufacturing technique will inspire more interest.
"Right now, computer vision and language models are the two major ways that humans can interact with robotic systems, but there is a need for more data on physical interactions, or 'force-level' data," he said. "From the robot's point of view, this information is the most direct interaction with its environment, but there are very few users -- mostly researchers -- who think about this. Collecting this force-level data is a target task for me and my group.
