A Tom Cruise lookalike in the Pakistan Airforce is capturing women's hearts.

The highflying pilot, who looks like he's rolled straight out of Top Gun, has rolled back the years for thousands of Twitter users.

A tweet showing the soldier is channeling Tom Cruise's character Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell from the high 1986 adrenaline flight movie.

The lookalike has been identified as Squadron Leader Yasir Mudasser, a JF-17 pilot of Pakistan Air Force.

He was snapped while informing the Pakistani Ambassador to Italy Tehmina Janjua during the Paris Air Show on Sunday, and his picture thrilled social media users.

Some people even thought the shot was a still of Tom Cruise.

Mr Mudasser has flown more than 600 flights in the JF-17, which is the first jet that Pakistan has built.

He told the Tribune: "It's superb. It's a treat to fly this aircraft. It’s so beautiful and user-friendly."

We have seen quite a few celebrity lookalikes spring up over the past few months. Whether there were people coming across other regular people who look like famous people. Quite a mouthful, wasn’t that. With the black specs on and easygoing poise, anyone could mistakenly believe that picture was of their Hollywood’s heart-throb straight out from the movie Top Gun.

“It’s funny. One never imagines that you’ll get this kind of attention when you’re training day-in-day-out,” the pilot told AFP. No wonders our pilot was taken aback from this not so expected treatment during one of his routine practices.

The news is all over social media and the huge fan followers of Tom Cruise can’t wait to see more glimpses of their dreamboat’s lookalike.

A picture of a Tom Cruise lookalike who is in the Pakistan Air Force has gone viral, after people supposedly noticed the similarities between the man and the iconic actor.

There’s just one teeny, tiny problem though: he looks nothing like Tom Cruise.

The online community started to go nuts over a JF-17 pilot earlier this week after the man, who was later identified as Squadron leader Yasir Mudasser, was pictured briefing the ambassador of Pakistan to Italy, Ms. Tehmina Janjua, at the Paris Air Show.

As soon as the image was uploaded, various users started to comment on the fact that Mudasser looked exactly like Tom Cruise’s character from Top Gun, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, which helped to turn the American actor into the icon he is today.

The remarks recognising just how much Yasir Mudasser looked like Tom Cruise soon extended beyond the original post too.

Meanwhile, during a conversation with the AFP, via Dunya News, Mudasser admitted that he was humbled by the attention. “It’s funny,” he remarked. “One never imagine that you’ll get this kind of attention when you’re training day-in, day-out.”

Unfortunately, to me at least, I can’t really see the resemblance between Mudasser and the Magnolia, Edge Of Tomorrow, and Mission Impossible actor. Other than the fact that both of them have a preference for wearing aviator sunglasses.
