Qatar Tourism Authority unveils Qatar's first destination brand

Qatar Tourism Authority unveils Qatar's first destination brand

Crossing a new milestone on its journey towards achieving its vision for 2030, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has unveiled the Qatar Destination Brand, enhancing and accelerating efforts to promote the nation abroad.

The brand was unveiled to global audiences at the World Travel Market in London, the world's most highly attended global expo for all-things tourism, ensuring maximum exposure.

The word mark has been exquisitely crafted with infinite attention to detail and combines a seamless fusion of tradition and modernity. A timeless classic, the word mark is elegant, warm, accessible, and reflective of Qatar's vision.

"The unveiling of Qatar's first destination brand marks the beginning of a new phase in our journey towards achieving the vision for Qatar, as outlined in the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030: a world class hub with deep cultural roots," said His Excellency Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, Chairman of QTA.

"In launching this brand, which is the first to represent Qatar as a destination, and by channelling multiple characteristics of the nation's persona, hopes, actions and vision, our efforts to promote the country and pique interest from world travellers, gain new strength and cohesion."

Comprising bespoke designed typography, rich colour palettes, a distinct visual language, signature photography and well-crafted videography, the brand provides a striking and highly distinctive visual identity that captivates audiences and strengthens Qatar's position as a premium tourist destination.

The Arabic word mark was designed by renowned Qatari calligrapher Ali Hassan, who sought to express his love for Qatar's history and traditions juxtaposed with its dynamic vision and speed of development.

According to QTA's Chief Marketing & Promotions Officer, Mr Rashed AlQurese, the development of Qatar's destination brand "has been a carefully considered, nationwide process, involving locals, youth, residents, artists, and a spectrum of relevant stakeholders."

"Research played a key role in the development of the brand; QTA benchmarked the world's best nation and destination branding, as well as internationally renowned consumer brands.

We commissioned world-class destination photographers to capture the essence of Qatar and the warmth of its people," he said, adding that the brand's signature photography will feature across the full spectrum of promotional assets from the design of QTA's exhibition stands to a variety of digital platforms, advertising and print collateral.

"The brand will unify and strengthen communications by sector stakeholders, tour operators, hoteliers and other members of the industry about Qatar to international audiences, it will also reinforce Qatar's presence on the international stage at the global tradeshows, events and exhibitions that QTA participates in," he concluded.

TB: You ninny. What you forget is that they probably paid a lot of money to some consultant to come up with the gumph..

It's my opinion that they have forgotten the number one rule in marketing KISS or Keep It Simple Stupid.

Personally I prefer the use of familiar words with instantly recognisable meanings that communicate to me why I should consider going somewhere on vacation.

Take the Philippine slogan for example "It's More Fun in The Philippines", short, meaning full and no need for a dictionary.

Qatar Tourisms Launches "Feel More in Qatar" Campaign to Solidify Qatars Position as Premium Destination

QNA Images

Doha, December 20 (QNA) - Qatar Tourism (QT) has launched its new "Feel More in Qatar" campaign, which aims to highlight the countrys position as a premium destination, and as the Middle Easts top choice for the well-travelled tourist.

QT said in a statement today that "Feel More in Qatar" seeks to bring to life the countrys rich emotional tapestry. Be it the famously warm traditional Qatari hospitality, the serenity of the countrys natural wonders, or the awe-inspiring architecture, the campaign showcases that a visit to Qatar genuinely stirs the senses for every member of a family.

QT added that the "Feel More in Qatar" campaign forms part of the countrys long-term strategy to welcome six million visitors by 2030.

Commenting on the new campaign, HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker, said: "With its rich and fascinating heritage, natural beauty, and range of experiences to choose from, a visit to Qatar inspires positive emotional responses for all. Be it a couple on a short romantic getaway, or a family looking to spend quality time together, the country caters to all wants, needs and preferences, offering an array of truly authentic experiences that are genuinely unforgettable."

The global campaign will operate in over 17 markets across the world, including Australia, the UK and Turkey. Taking a 360-approach, the campaign will be featured on TV, social media channels, digital channels, press channels, out-of-homes and have a dedicated website.

Overall, the campaign demonstrates that Qatar offers families, couples and friends, not just a collection of things to do, but a superior emotional experience. Families can feel more together, couples can feel more connected and friends can feel more fun. The year-round sunshine, adventurous activities, romantic experiences, cultural offerings, and much more, makes Qatar the perfect destination for families, couples and friends.

Qatar Tourism has launched a new international multi-media campaign, to drive forward the country’s tourism goals and cement its ambition to welcome more than six million visitors a year by 2030. The campaign features nine unique, engaging key chain characters designed to introduce travellers to the destination.

Under the tagline, “Experience a World Beyond”, Qatar Tourism will launch its latest development via a TV-led media campaign featuring the voice of Indonesian singing sensation, Raisa. Six key chain characters introduce travellers to the variety of experiences that Qatar offers, with a further three, friendly local characters representing Qatari tour guides.

The global campaign is inspired by the insight that today, more than ever, international travellers are looking for unique, authentic experiences that create unforgettable memories. Fast-emerging destination Qatar promises to deliver a safe, secure and accessible introduction to the Middle East, blending cosmopolitan modernity with Arabic tradition.

Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “The country’s extensive developments are well underway as we welcome visitors from around the world, with exceptional hospitality at every touchpoint. The launch of the Experience a World Beyond marks a significant point in our journey to establishing ourselves as a world leading destination and welcoming six million visitors per year by 2030.”

The new advertising campaign reflects Qatar’s commitment to expanding its tourism proposition, in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. Qatar has already welcomed over two hundred thousand in-bound travellers since borders re-opened in July 2021.

A new website launched by Qatar Tourism, www.visitqatar.qa , is now available in five languages and supported by a recently launched Personalised Travel Companion mobile app, designed to showcase the world-leading destination.

Qatar’s new tourism strategy puts the visitor at the heart of all new programmes and initiatives and will leverage the peninsula’s variety of existing experiences, while capitalising on a wave of new hotels, theme parks, shops and major leisure projects that have recently opened, or are set to launch, in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 TM .

Qatar is renowned for its warm hospitality and commitment to excellence, exemplified by its award-winning carrier Qatar Airways, which is the only airline to be voted World's Best Airline six times by Skytrax. This is further complimented by the airline's home and hub, Hamad International Airport, which was voted World's Best Airport in 2021 by Skytrax. Such accolades further reinforces the country's warm and hospitable reputation as it looks forward to welcoming tourists to the State of Qatar through a seamless journey.

Experience a World Beyond: Qatar Tourism launches new campaign and continues its goal to welcome six million visitors by 2030

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh says 3 of his sons were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza

Image: Ismail Haniyeh

Three sons of  Hamas ’ top political leader were killed Wednesday by an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, and the leader accused Israel of acting in “the spirit of revenge and murder.”

Ismail Haniyeh’s sons are among the highest-profile figures to be killed in the war so far. It was not immediately clear how their deaths might affect the monthslong cease-fire talks being brokered by international mediators, though Haniyeh said Hamas would not cave in to the pressure.

The Israeli military said the men conducted militant activity in central Gaza, without elaborating.

Haniyeh confirmed the deaths in an interview with the Al Jazeera satellite channel, saying his sons “were martyred on the road to liberating Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

“The criminal enemy is driven by the spirit of revenge and murder and does not value any standards or laws,” he said in the phone interview.

Passersby look at the car in which three sons of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh were reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in al-Shati camp, west of Gaza City, on April 10, 2024.

The Israeli military described the three siblings as a cell commander and two military operatives.

In his interview with Al Jazeera, Haniyeh said the killings would not pressure Hamas into softening its positions.

“The enemy believes that by targeting the families of the leaders, it will push them to give up the demands of our people,” he said. “Anyone who believes that targeting my sons will push Hamas to change its position is delusional.”

Haniyeh lives in exile in  Qatar , where Al Jazeera is based. Hamas’ Al-Aqsa TV station aired footage of Haniyeh receiving the news of the deaths while visiting wounded Palestinians who have been transported to a hospital in Doha. As an aide received the news on his phone, Haniyeh nodded, looked down at the ground and slowly walked out of the room.

“There is no might and no power but by God,” Haniyeh muttered. “May God make matters easy for them.”

Al-Aqsa TV said Hazem, Ameer and Mohammed Haniyeh were killed with family members in the strike near the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. Ismail Haniyeh is originally from Shati.

The brothers were traveling with family members in a single vehicle targeted by an Israeli drone, Al-Aqsa TV said, adding that a total of six people were killed, including a daughter of Hazem Haniyeh and a son and daughter of Ameer.

Earlier, Israeli war cabinet minister  Benny Gantz  claimed Hamas has been defeated militarily, although he also said Israel will fight it for years to come.

“From a military point of view, Hamas is defeated. Its fighters are eliminated or in hiding” and its capabilities “crippled,” Gantz said in a statement to the media in Sderot.

But he added: “Fighting against Hamas will take time. Boys who are now in middle school will still fight in the Gaza Strip.”

Gantz reiterated the Israeli government’s commitment to go into Rafah, the city at the far southern tip of the Gaza Strip where more than half the territory’s 2.3 million people are now sheltering. “Wherever there are terrorist targets — the IDF will be there,” he said, referring to the Israeli military.

Image: Palestinians In Gaza Mark Eid Al-Fitr With Prayer Service

The strike came as Palestinians in Gaza marked a muted  Eid al-Fitr  holiday, which ends the holy fasting month of Ramadan, by visiting the graves of loved ones killed in the war. In the Jabaliya refugee camp near Gaza City, people sat quietly by graves surrounded by buildings destroyed by Israel’s offensive in response to the deadly Hamas attack on Oct. 7.

U.S. President Joe Biden has called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Gaza a mistake and called for his government to flood the beleaguered territory with aid.

After months of supporting the war against Hamas, the White House has ramped up pressure on Israel to reach a cease-fire and taken a sterner line that has rattled the countries’ decades-old alliance and deepened  Israel’s international isolation  over the war.

The most serious disagreement has been over Israel’s plans for an offensive in Rafah. The rift was worsened by an Israeli airstrike last week on an aid convoy that killed seven workers with the  World Central Kitchen  charity, most of them foreigners. Israel said the deaths were  unintentional , but Biden was outraged.

Biden’s latest comments in an interview that was recorded two days after the World Central Kitchen strike and aired late Tuesday highlight the differences between Israel and the U.S. over humanitarian aid to people in Gaza, where the war has led to warnings of imminent famine for more than a million people.

“What he’s doing is a mistake. I don’t agree with his approach,” Biden told Spanish-language broadcaster Univision when asked if Netanyahu was prioritizing his political survival over Israel’s interest.

Displaced children stand at their tent in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, on April 10, 2024.

Israel halted aid deliveries to Gaza in the early days of the war, but under U.S. pressure has slowly increased the number of trucks allowed to enter the territory.

Still, aid groups say supplies are not reaching desperate people quickly enough, blaming Israeli restrictions and noting that thousands of trucks are waiting to enter Gaza. Countries have attempted less efficient ways to deliver aid, including airdrops and by sea.

Israel says its has opened up more entry points for trucks to enter and reach especially hard-hit areas like northern Gaza, an early target of Israel in the war. Israel also accuses aid groups of being too slow to deliver aid once it’s inside Gaza.

Aid groups say logistical issues and the precarious security situation — underscored by the strike on the aid workers — complicate deliveries.

Netanyahu has vowed to achieve “total victory,” pledging to destroy Hamas’ military and governing capabilities to prevent a repeat of the Oct. 7 attacks and to return hostages captured by Hamas and others that day. He says that victory must include an offensive in Rafah.

Six months into the war, Israel is growing ever more isolated, with even its closest partner increasingly vocal about its discontent with the war’s direction and  longtime trading partners like Turkey  taking potentially painful economic steps to express dismay.

Netanyahu, who is on trial for alleged corruption, is under pressure to decide on a postwar vision for Gaza. But critics say he is delaying because he doesn’t want to anger his ultranationalist governing partners, who support resettling the Gaza Strip, which Israel withdrew from in 2005. Netanyahu has ruled out the idea.

His governing partners also oppose making significant concessions to Hamas and have threatened to exit the government — a step that would cause the ruling coalition to collapse and trigger new elections.

Israel launched the war in response to Hamas’ cross-border assault in which militants killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took roughly 250 people hostage, according to Israeli authorities.

More than 33,400 Palestinians have been killed in the relentless fighting, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, which doesn’t differentiate between civilians and combatants in its count but says most of the dead are women and children. Israel says it has killed some 12,000 militants, without providing evidence.

The war has ignited a humanitarian catastrophe. Most of the territory’s population has been displaced and with vast swaths of Gaza’s urban landscape leveled in the fighting, many areas are  uninhabitable .
