Tour Edge C522 Driver Review

Tour Edge doesn't get the credit it deserves for its R&D efforts and the highly functional, highly affordable C522 driver is another great product from the underappreciated company. From a performance standpoint, the C522 is long, forgiving, and consistent, and it's one of the best values in golf in any category at its price point.

Impressive forgiveness on off-center strikes

Extremely consistent in terms of flight and distance

Classic shaping, premium look

Incredible value at its price

No adjustability

Limited shaft options to choose from

So I’ll just come right out and say it. I like Tour Edge. I like the company’s equipment from a technology and performance standpoint, and I appreciate their consistent, unwavering approach to carving out a spot in the marketplace. There have been times, however, where keeping up with all of the various products that the company offered was a difficult task, and navigating their website in years past posed challenges.

But Tour Edge has rectified that issue as well by simplifying their product offerings into two categories, the Exotics category, which are their premium products, and the Hot Launch category, which are their more entry level, budget-friendly offerings. For 2022, Exotics products have been labeled as the 722 series and Hot Launch products as the 522 series. It’s a better system and one that I’m sure has been effective with Tour Edge's growing consumer base.

I recently had the chance to test the C522 driver from Tour Edge , which checks in at a retail price of just $249, which is about as low as you’re going to see for a new driver from an established golf manufacturer. And to be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect. After all, with other top drivers checking in at prices ranging from roughly $450 to $600, including the Tour Edge C722 and E722 , could the C522 driver really be competitive from a performance standpoint? That answer is a resounding yes.

Tour Edge C522 Driver

The Tour Edge C522 driver has a large, confidence-inspiring profile but a traditional rounded shape.

I did all of my testing of the C522 driver at Atlanta National Golf Club. I spent one day hitting only drivers on the course with the C522, a 2017 Callaway Epic Sub Zero, which is my current gamer, and the Mizuno ST-Z 220 , which I have been experimenting with in recent weeks, to see how they compared in terms of sound, feel, distance, and forgiveness. All three drivers were tested at 10.5 degrees of loft and at a length of 45 inches. I then played two full rounds with the 522 to see how it would fare in scoring situations. The result of those sessions was an incredible showing from the C522, as it earned just the third 5-star rating that I’ve handed out since joining Golf Monthly.

I’ll start with the look of the C522. The overall profile is on the larger side, inspiring confidence at address, but the shaping is more traditional, best described as a rounded, pear shape, which appealed to my eye. The most distinguishing feature was probably the topline of the driver, which was very straight. As a comparison, the closest I can come up with from recent years would be the Titleist TS2 in that regard. The C522 also doesn’t look like a budget driver. From an aesthetics standpoint, it has a simple yet premium appearance.

From a sound and feel standpoint, the C522 is quite a bit louder than the two drivers I tested it against, which wasn’t a surprise. The Epic and the ST-Z 220 both have carbon crowns and deliver a more muted impact sound, which is what I prefer. The C522, on the other hand, is all titanium. And while it was louder, it wasn’t Nike Sasquatch loud, rather more in line with what you might expect from many Ping drivers.

Tour Edge C522 driver face

The C522 delivered the forgiveness that was expected but exceeded expectations in terms of distance.

In terms of performance, I fully expected the C522 to provide a high level of forgiveness. Tour Edge went to great lengths to position weight low and deep in the clubhead to increase MOI, including a fixed weight at the rear of the sole. That technology delivered, as the C522 was extremely playable on mis-hits, ranking easily as one of the most forgiving drivers I’ve tested in 2022. It also performed especially well in terms of distance and direction on shots that were hit low on the face, which is my most common miss.

Where the C522 exceeded all expectations was in terms of distance. I expected a high, spinny ball flight that would find fairways but not measure up in terms of yardage. It didn’t take long, however, to find out that such an assessment would be off base. When I was comparing drivers on the course, I started on No. 5 at my club. Using Titleist Pro V1x golf balls , I hit three shots with each driver, and the C522 produced the longest shot of the nine I hit off that tee. As the day progressed and I continued that pattern, the C522 wasn’t always the longest, but it was at times and it was always competitive.

The C522 impressed as well from a distance standpoint during the rounds I played, as I typically found myself in spots on the course where I most usually end up off the tee. I also found that the ball flight the C522 produced was very consistent, on the higher side with just a slight draw. That said, I was able to flight the ball down if I wanted to and work it the other direction if needed. And as mentioned earlier, finding fairways was never a concern.

Tour Edge C522 Driver

The C522 driver is one of the best values in golf regardless of category.

While it scored high marks for me, there are a few things that should be noted about the C522 driver. It does not have an adjustable hosel and the lone stock shaft offering is the lightweight Mitsubishi Fubuki HL, which ranges in weight from 45 to 55 grams degrees depending on flex. I swing the driver at about 100 mph and don’t put a lot of stress on the shaft so I can play a lighter shaft without many issues, but for high-speed players the Fubuki HL shaft probably won't be a great fit. I do believe, however, that this driver will fit the vast majority of golfers just fine.

In summary, I couldn’t have been more impressed with the C522 driver. That Tour Edge can deliver this kind of performance at $249 is a testament to the company, and this is a great option for players who might be new to the game or experienced golfers who are looking for exceptional performance in what is essentially a budget driver . I’m certainly not saying that the C522 is the best driver on the market right now, but at its price point if there’s anything even close I’d have to see it to believe it.

Tour edge hot launch e522, c522 woods and irons, share this article.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Golf has seen a massive surge in popularity over the past two years, with hundreds of thousands of people coming to the game for the first time. Others have re-discovered golf after not playing for a while. Typically, these players need game-improvement and max game-improvement equipment, woods and irons that make it easier to hit the ball farther and compensate for less-than-solid strikes. They need something easy to hit.

Tour Edge specializes in producing precisely those types of clubs. With the release of the sixth generation of the Hot Launch clubs—the Hot Launch 522 E and 522 C—the company brings some technology innovations that first appeared in the higher-priced Exotic family to Hot Launch.

Prices: $249.99 for drivers, $159.99 each for fairway woods), $139.99 each for hybrids and $99.99 per iron.

The Hot Launch E522 series of woods and irons are designed to provide extremely high stability and forgiveness (the “E” stands for extreme spec).

The driver (10.5, 12.5 and 15 degrees) and fairway woods (16, 20, 23, 25, 27 degrees) and hybrids (19, 22, 25 and 28 degrees) all feature the Houdini Sole design. It pushes more of the head’s overall weight back, away from the hitting area, to increase the moment of inertia (MOI) and encourage more spin. That should help slow- and moderate-swinging golfers hit shots with more lift and height for increased distance.

On the inside-facing portion of the hitting area, Tour Edge has designed a unique grid called Diamond Face 2.0. The grid is made of pieces of various thicknesses which Tour Edge says act like miniature trampolines to help produce more ball speed.

To help golfers hit straighter shots, Tour Edge has given the E522 woods and hybrids significant offset to help players square the face through impact more easily. Adding weight to the heel also helps to provide the E522 woods and hybrids a draw bias, reducing the severity of slices. For extra control, the woods and hybrids are also slightly shorter than standard, which should make them easier to control during the swing.

In reality, the E522 irons are miniature hybrids that look like irons. They are hollow, like the woods, to allow the faces to flex more efficiently at the moment of impact and generate more ball speed and distance. The hollow-bodied design also allowed Tour Edge designers to lower the center of gravity (CG) to encourage a higher ball flight. The cup-face design broadens the sweet spot over a large portion of the hitting area, while the offset helps players make solid contact more easily.

Prices: $249.99 for drivers, $159.99 each for fairway woods), $139.99 each for hybrids and $79.99 per iron. (at touredge.com  and Carl’s Golfland )

The C522 series of woods and irons are slightly more refined and traditional than the E522 clubs, but they are still loaded with technologies to make them easy to hit.

Like the E522, they have the Diamond Face 2.0 face design for extra ball speed, but the C522 driver, fairway woods and hybrids also have a Power Channel in the sole, behind the leading edge, which extends from the heel to the toe. The Power Channel allows the face, especially the lower part of the hitting area, to flex more efficiently for increased ball speed and distance.

Extra weight has been positioned in the middle-back portion of the sole to lower the center of gravity (CG) location and encourage higher-flying shots and more carry distance. The extra weight also helps to boost the moment of inertia and add stability in the woods.

Tour Edge C522 irons

The C522 irons are cast from 431 stainless steel and feature an extremely wide sole, allowing them to work through the turf more efficiently. The wide sole design also helped Tour Edge designers lower the CG location.

A 360-degree undercut-cavity design distributes more weight to the perimeter of the heads for increased stability and forgiveness on mis-hits. At the same time, the piece of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) inside the pocket soaks up excessive vibrations for better sound and feel.

Tour Edge Hot Launch E523 and C523 Drivers

For value-seeking golfers, Tour Edge Hot Launch Series drivers—the Hot Launch E523 and the Hot Launch C523 —will likely be in the consideration set.

They arrive with a retail price of just $269.99 and, while Tour Edge describes that as “mid-tier” pricing (with allowances for PXG’s occasional deep discount), by modern standards it’s on the low end of the price range—likely less than clearance-priced drivers from the industry leaders (and everyone else, for that matter).

I’d wager Tour Edge E-series will be the cheapest drivers you’ll find on big box retail shelves this season.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

While price alone may be the deciding factor for many, Tour Edge is seeking to position itself as “the leader in performance-value custom fitting.” That’s an odd combination of words but the point is that, with fitting bags available at more than 1,000 locations, nobody else comes close to offering fitting options at this price point.

Granted, nobody else utilizing traditional retail distribution channels is selling drivers for $270. It’s easy to win when nobody else is competing but I suppose that’s the entire reason why Tour Edge’s 523 series exists at the price it does.

As it did last time around, the Tour Edge Hot Launch lineup will feature two product lines.

Tour Edge Hot Launch E523 Driver

A sole view of the Tour Edge Hot Launch 523 driver

The “E” in in E523 stands for Extreme and while nothing here is extreme enough to scream about, “extreme” is effectively used as a synonym for a feature set that mimics a good bit of what the industry has folded under the “MAX” banner.

According to Tour Edge, the E523 offers low (and presumably deep) center of gravity, a shallow face and a little bit of offset.

I suppose that last bit could qualify as extreme by today’s standard. We know that offset drivers can help golfers. We also know that pride prevents a healthy percentage of golfers who would benefit from them from buying them. That likely explains why very few companies offer them.

Despite the low price, Tour Edge has bundled a good amount of its technology in the E523 including :

Houdini Sole – Tour Edge-speak for a concentrated chunk of mass on the trailing edge. Its purpose is to shift the center of gravity “ultra” low and deep where it works to increase both launch and forgiveness.

Ridgeback Tech – A rail that provides additional structural support for the crown. By helping to stiffen things a bit, Ridgeback reduces crown deformation at impact which allows more energy to be transferred to the ball.

According to Tour Edge, the Ridgeback design also serves as alignment aid, though it’s fair to say your mileage may vary on that one.

An address view of the Tour Edge Hot Launch 523 driver

Diamond Face VFT – Tour Edge’s take on a variable-thickness face design. Tour Edge says the diamond shapes work as mini-trampolines. The idea is to provide more speed across the face with an emphasis on off-center performance.

Heel Weighting and Offset – As it always does, the addition of heel-weighting provides some draw bias while the offset design makes it easier to square up the driver.

New Power Channel – Tour Edge’s take on a sole/speed slot, the Power Channel promotes more speed and lower spin, particularly on low face contact.

Hot Launch E523: Who It’s For

The Tour Edge Hot Launch E523 is best suited for low to moderate swing speed players. That’s evidenced by the lightweight UST Mamiya HL-SST stock shafts. The shafts range in weight from 45  to 60 grams and feature a soft tip section to further promote high launch. (I’m really sensing a theme here).

A spec chart for the Tour Edge Hot Launch E523 driver

Other notables in the specs include a 15-degree HL option and a sensible stock length of 44.5 inches. That’s an inch to an inch and a quarter shorter than average which makes a ton of sense for the target audience.

Tour Edge Hot Launch C523 Driver

A sole view of the Tour Edge Hot Launch C523 driver

The “C” in C523 is for Competition. That could suggest a driver aimed at better players but Tour Edge bills the Hot Launch C523 as a “premium competition spec game-improvement design.”

Again, the arrangement of words is a bit odd but the positioning is that of a game-improvement design that retains a conventional appearance at address.

The target audience for the Hot Launch C523 is medium to fast swing golfers , though the stock shaft (also the UST Mamiya HL-SST) suggests it’s cheating heavily towards the mid swing speed side of the equation.

That’s what custom fitting is for.

A address view of the Tour Edge Hot Launch C523 driver

As with the Hot Launch E523, there’s a good bit of tech bundled with the C523 . Here’s what you get.

Sole Rail – Tour Edge’s take a dropdown sole design. Like COBRA (SpeedBack), TaylorMade SIM and a growing number of others, Tour Edge’s sole rail serves to push the center of gravity down while creating opportunities for increased forgiveness

Tour Edge achieves higher forgiveness by anchoring a big chunk of mass to the rear of the sole rail.

360 Face Cup – The wrap-around face piece works with the VFT diamonds to provide consistent (or at least more consistent) speed on off-center hits.

Larger Power Channel – Tour Edge has increased the size of the power channel by 85 percent relative to the previous model. The updated design allows for even greater face flexing (more speed) with reduced spin, particularly on low face impacts.

Both the Hot Launch E523 and C523 are part of Tour Edge’s 48-hour shipping arrival program. Any custom order placed before 1:30 p.m. Central time on a weekday will arrive within 48 hours.

I love Exotics and Play EXS 220 driver and hybrids but man, the paint job on these are horrible. Please Tour edge, the EXS clubs are beautiful. These would be nice looking if it wasnt for all the red paint… Black, grays and whites or blue or red accents. This looks worse than previous e522 of this series. I dont understand why your Exotics line look so good and the hot launch are , uh, cheap looking but play great. Simple fix, loose 90% of the red.

After trying almost every iron out there I purchased the E721’s a little over a year ago. They were the best and most consistent for me especially on toe hits which is my miss. The Titleist T200’s were also great but they were over twice as much without any real gain. I guess that makes me a value shopper but I would recommend to anyone to try out Tour Edge. Yes the logo is big and they have red paint but I’d say get over it. Always nice to beat the guy that think they have the latest’s and greatest with what they think are bargain clubs..

The E ridge back crown is a knock off of the Wilson Triton !!!!! I have a Triton and LOVE IT !!!! The Triton is a true long driver ,it’s like a fine tuned Formula 1 race car …..

Sellemental

That is exactly what I thought the moment I saw it !!! I had a Triton too. When I hit it well, very long. Unfortunately that was far less than half the time.

Josh Babbitt

Looks like cheap walmart clubs to me. Uber pass even though they are a forum sponsor lol

I always felt that way about the shiny Titleist driver heads.. In this case, are you referring to the sole of the club? When I’m setting up & swinging, whatever design is on the sole is irrelevant to me.

Best bargain right now is on PXG’s website. 0211 drivers for $119 and 0211 fairways and hybrids for $89.

I only read the driver article and looked at the pictures of the irons. The paint is very poorly done and looks cheap. Now, if the drivers are good and the paint is a way of bringing the price down I am all for it. If a driver performs nearly as well as the big names and is less than $300 I am all for it.

The paint though is so bad even a knock off club maker would say, ‘Jeez, guys, everyone is gonna know these are fakes;.

Tour Edge Develops Upgraded Hot Launch 522 Series with Diamond Face 2.0™, VIBRCOR™ and Houdini™ Technologies

' src=

Tour Edge, the pound for pound industry leader in performance and innovation, introduces their new Hot Launch 522 Series of golf clubs that will be available starting October 1, 2021.

Tour Edge describes this new series as “The Easiest Clubs You’ll Ever Hit.”

The 522 Series offers two distinct ranges, the E522 and C522. They are designed to cover both ends of the Super-Game-Improvement and Game-Improvement club categories in separate driver, fairway, hybrid, iron, and wedge designs.

Both the Extreme (E) and Competition (C) ranges feature new technologies and setups designed to produce different playing characteristics targeting a specific player looking for game-enhancing qualities.

“This approach that we first launched with Hot Launch 521 has led us to be one of the market leaders in Game-Improvement clubs,” said Glod. “The unbelievable demand and success of the 521 Series let us know that we are headed down the correct path in catering to the two player preferences in the ever-growing G.I. and S.G.I. segment of the market.”

The 522 series is the 6th iteration of the best-selling Hot Launch line. Each iteration has raised the standard of excellence for mid-tier price point golf clubs in the golf industry. The Hot Launch 522 Series continues to raise that bar.

With Hot Launch 522, Tour Edge is employing several key technologies from their tour- preferred Exotics brand, including Diamond Face 2.0 and VIBRCOR, while also upgrading current innovations like the game-changing Houdini Sole and the acoustic-enhancement of the product.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

“This is a running upgrade over the 521 series,” said Glod. “We’re bringing as much technology to this line up from Exotics that we can to extend performance benefits to every golfer type, all while satisfying the huge demand for Game-Improvement clubs in the marketplace.”

 The E range are Extreme Spec Super-Game-Improvement clubs that boast an extremely low Center of Gravity (CG), super-shallow faces, and offset designs with shorter shaft lengths designed to get the ball launching in the air with ease.  The C range features premium, state-of-art Competition Spec Game-Improvement designs with a higher Moment of Inertia (MOI) in classically shaped clubs that sit square at address, while providing the ability to launch the ball with added forgiveness and power across the face.

Hot Launch offers the pound for pound best pricing to performance in golf and is designed to be the leader in performance-value custom fitting. The entire Hot Launch 522 Series will be available in over 1000 authorized fitting locations. Retail prices will be $249.99 for both the E and C drivers, $159.99 for both E and C fairway metals and $139.99 for the E and C hybrids. The C522 Irons will sell for $79.99 per iron, while the E522 Irons will retail for $99.99 per iron. The E and C wedges will both cost $89.99 per wedge.

Hot Launch E522 Metalwoods (Extreme Spec Driver, Fairway Metal and Hybrid)

Hot Launch E522 is all about ease of use. The Extreme-Game-Improvement Hot Launch E522 metals feature extreme MOI properties with a major emphasis on ease of launch, playability and correcting mishits and slices to go straighter.

Houdini Sole Technology – The Houdini Sole design innovation pushes weight back as much as possible in a driver design. This design creates extra mass to precisely position weight in the head for an ultra-low and deep CG, optimizing launch conditions and greatly improving forgiveness off the face.

Diamond Face 2.0/Cup Face Technology – The Hot Launch E522 metals feature Diamond Face 2.0 technology with 42 different thick and thin diamond shapes behind the face of the metals for an enhanced sweet spot.

Diamond shapes of varying thickness create “mini-trampolines” behind the face, combining with a Cup Face construction to produce greater face flex, faster ball speeds and better performance on off-center hits.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Heel Weighted/Slice Fighting Offset/Shallow Face Designs – Offset designs are combined with a heel sole weight to provide the ultimate in slice fighting technology. The strategically placed heel draw-bias weighting of the E range allows the face to square up at impact for straighter ball flight that helps right-handed golfers avoid the right side of the course, and left-handed golfers avoid the left side of the course.

The super-shallow face design produces higher launch angles with extreme ease of launch.

High Moment of Inertia – An extremely high MOI rating makes the E range metals extremely stable and powerful. This increased MOI will increase ball speed on mishits and will keep shots straighter, while the back and low CG positioning creates high-flying, powerful shots.

Control Length Shafts  – The Control Length shafts have been optimized with shorter shaft lengths that were designed specifically for the E range metals to greatly improve accuracy, control and to offer maxed out Smash Factor ratings for the club head.

The Control Length shaft system leads to more players hitting the center of the clubface.

Premium Mitsubishi Fubuki HL Shaft – The E522 metalwoods comes stock with super- light FUBUKI HL graphite shafts by Mitsubishi Chemical that range from 45-grams to 60- grams depending on the flex.

Hot Launch E522 Iron (Extreme Spec Iron-Woods)

The E522 Iron features the game-changing Houdini Sole in conjunction with a super-shallow face, slice-fighting offset design, and heel weighting for added draw bias. These amped-up iron-wood designs put a major emphasis on ease of launch, playability and correcting mishits and slices to go straighter for the ultimate in ease of use.

Houdini Sole Technology – The raised steel mass area of the Houdini Sole at the rear of the clubhead reduces the amount of sole area to reduce drag and turf interaction. The Houdini Sole design element has proven to be one of the most effective technologies at getting balls out of tough lies by reducing turf interaction by 35%.

Hollow-Body Design-  Hollow-body perimeter weighting produces distance properties of a metalwood in an iron design for maximum ball speed. The hollow-body design makes for an extremely low and back Center of Gravity, helping to create a very forgiving and powerful face.

Shallow Cup Forged Face – The super-shallow Cup Face design in the Hot Launch E522 Irons produces higher launch angles and extreme ease of launch. This super-thin forged face design produces the pinnacle of extreme ease of launch, increased apex heights, hang time and distance.

Slice-Fighting Offset Design – The offset design of the E522 Irons works in conjunction with the heel weight in the clubhead to help players avoid hitting slices and to increase launch conditions.

Premium Mitsubishi Fubuki HL and KBS MAX 80 Shafts – The E522 Iron comes stock with a FUBUKI HL graphite shaft by Mitsubishi that ranges from 50-grams to 60-grams depending on the flex. It is also available in a KBS MAX 80 steel shaft.

Hot Launch E522 Wedge (Extreme Spec Wedges)

The Extreme-Game-Improvement Hot Launch E522 Wedge features a super-wide Houdini sole that puts more weight below and behind the ball making it extremely easy to get the ball into the air and out of tough lies.

The dual-flange sole design features 14-degrees of bounce allowing the wedge to glide through the turf or sand without digging in and promotes extreme open-face wedge shots.

Houdini Sole – The patented Houdini Sole and its curved leading edge reduced turf interaction by 35%, promoting a “no dig” design and leading to significantly less “duffs” caused by hitting up on the ball and hitting the turf at a lower point before the ball.

Super-Wide Sole – The super-wide sole and heavier head weight of the E522 Wedge helps to eliminate flubs for superior contact. It is engineered for versatility by adding extreme performance benefits to chipping, pitch shots, explosion shots out of the sand, shots out of the rough, flop shots and bump-and-run shots.

Super-Deep Undercut Cavity – This extremely deep undercut cavity dramatically lowers the Center of Gravity for the ultimate in wedge forgiveness. It redistributes mass for enhanced flight control and to create a higher launch with increased spin for extreme playability from the sand and rough.

Extra Large Face Design – An oversized face design on the E522 wedge provides more striking area for enhanced consistency and accuracy. It also raises the MOI for tight precision around greens and enhances playability from the sand and rough.

Full-Face Maximized Grooves  – The full-face coverage grooves of the E522 Wedge are maximized to USGA depth and sharpness. They provide exceptional spin and control across the entire face of the wedge.

Hot Launch C522 Metalwoods (Competition Spec Driver, Fairway Metal and Hybrid)

The Hot Launch C522 range is for the player seeking optimal launch and spin rates, while still enjoying the benefits of extreme ease of use, forgiveness, and accuracy.

The C522 metals feature minimal offset designs for medium+ tempo swing speeds to attain maximum ball speed and increase forgiveness.

Diamond Face 2.0/ Cup Face Technology – The C522 metals feature Diamond Face 2.0 technology with 42 different thick and thin diamond shapes behind the face of the metals for an enhanced sweet spot.

High MOI Rear Sole Weight in a Deep CG Casing  – A back weight is strategically placed to the extreme rear of the C522 driver, fairway, and hybrid.  The extreme rear weight is housed in an all-new Deep CG Casing that places more mass at the extreme trailing edge of the clubhead.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The back weight and Deep CG Casing creates an extremely high M.O.I. rating for top in-line stability. The lower and deeper CG positioning of the club dramatically affects ease of launch and added forgiveness off the face at impact.

Acoustic Resonance Channels – Upgraded acoustic engineering is achieved through Acoustic Resonance Channels (A.R.C.) Engineering. The A.R.C. sound channel system is a visible technology that can be seen on the sole of the clubhead. Internally, these channels bounce sound on the inside of the club head to provide top-shelf sound and feel.

Power Channel – The Power Channel on the sole of the club behind the club face is deeper for better weight distribution and increased face flexing. The Power Channel delivers amplified ball speed and less spin, as well as added forgiveness on shots struck lower on the face.

Premium Mitsubishi Fubuki HL Shaft – The C522 metalwoods come stock with super- light FUBUKI HL graphite shafts by Mitsubishi Chemical that range from 45-grams to 60- grams depending on the flex.

  • C522 Driver Lofts in Right-Handed : 9.5°, 10.5°, 12°
  • C522 Fairway Metal Lofts in Right-Handed : 15-degree 3-Wood, 17-degree 4-wood, an 18-degree 5-wood and a 22-degree 7-wood
  • C522 Hybrid Lofts in Right-Handed : #3/19-degree, #4/22-degree, #5/25-degree and #6/28-degree

Hot Launch C522 Iron (Competition Spec Irons)

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

VIBRCOR creates a distinct feel of the clubhead at impact that dampens sound and shock, while also creating perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead for maximum forgiveness and power and ball speed enhancement off the face.

360-degree Undercut Cavity – The deep 360° Undercut Cavity promotes a myriad of game-enhancement benefits in a classic iron design. The expanded undercut cavity provides maximum forgiveness and consistent performance. It also delivers an increased repulsion effect for high-speed power off the face and a higher launch angle and enhanced forgiveness.

Wide Sole Design – A wider sole design on the C522 Iron lowers the Center of Gravity and offers superior bounce and increases launch for cleaner, high-flying shots. The wide sole design leads to cleaner turf interaction for more consistent shot making.

Advanced Toe Weighting – Advanced toe weighting technology in the C522 Iron maximizes stability on impact and provides better off-center hit distance from the face of the iron. The strategically placed toe weight elongates the sweet spot and provides a pure feel off the face of the irons.

Power Lofted – The lower and deeper Center of Gravity allowed the C522 irons to be power-lofted for added distance and lower spin with the same launch characteristics as a standard lofted iron, making for a modern long-distance iron design that will provide extra distance with the same apex height expected from each iron.

Premium Mitsubishi Fubuki HL and KBS MAX 80 Shafts – The C522 Iron comes stock with a FUBUKI HL graphite shaft by Mitsubishi that ranges from 50-grams to 60-grams depending on the flex. It is also available in a KBS MAX 80 steel shaft.

The new Hot Launch SuperSpin wedge offers an extremely forgiving wedge with enhanced feel for every level of golfer looking for more control in their short game.

This cavity back wedge will be available in six lofts featuring VIBRCOR technology that provides a soft feel at impact with great feedback that will provide better control around the green.

VIBRCOR Technology – VIBRCOR tech comes to the Hot Launch line for the first time with the Super Spin wedge! VIBRCOR is a high-grade TPU strategically placed in the deep undercut pocket to create a new speed-inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology.

VIBRCOR creates a distinct feel of the clubhead at impact that dampens sound and shock, while also creating perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead for maximum forgiveness, power, and ball speed enhancement off the face.

Beveled Leading Edge/Cambered Sole – The wedges beveled leading edge reduces digging and makes for an exceptionally versatile design for every type of wedge shot. A cambered sole means a curved and more rounded sole will glide more smoothly across the turf. The more rounded sole will help every level of player get out of tough lies and bunkers.

Rear Weight Pad – Extra weight is centralized behind the top portion of the face. This added weight in the upper center of the face expands the sweet spot vertically, so shots struck higher on the face maintain exceptional control and feel.

Maxed CNC Grooves  – Computer-milled grooves are at the maximum depths allowed by the USGA. These maxed out CNC grooves provide perfect control and spin around the greens for every level of golfer from pro to beginner.

Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Hybrid Review

Tour edge hot launch c522 hybrid.

Tour Edge hybrids have been firmly in my bag for the last few seasons because of their incredible feel and performance. They’re just so good every year in and year out. Now you can get that same elite feel and performance in a more affordable package by way of the Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 hybrid. The premium technology and performance packed into the “competitive spec” C522 hybrid make it one of the best values in golf equipment this season.

Looks 7

The Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 hybrid has a traditional medium hybrid footprint. It’s not super compact like a “player’s hybrid”, but it certainly doesn’t venture into the mini fairway wood category. Overall, the HL C522 has a classic hybrid shape that more competitive players will prefer .

The top of the club has a smooth black metal flake crown that cleanly transitions into the black 360º Cup Face. Tour Edge continued the use of the Hot Launch black/blue/white color scheme as seen on the sole of club. Like the C522 driver and fairway wood , the C522 hybrid has a more refined and premium look exceeding its price point.

Feel 6

How Does it Feel?

There are 40 diamond shapes behind the face of the Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 hybrid. These diamonds of varying sizes act as “mini trampolines” at impact to create more “spring”. Tour Edge calls this “Diamond Face 2.0 Technology” and it makes the face faster and more forgiving, especially on mishits. There’s also the 360º Cup Face which works with the built-in Power Channel to increase face flex. These three aspects combined increase ball speed for more distance across the entire face. The end result is a lot of jump at impact and a pretty clean, sweet feel on reasonable misses .

Tour Edge placed the center of gravity (CG) low and back in the head. Placing the CG low and back has performance implications, but it also impacts the feel of the club. This CG location increases the MOI which makes the club feel more balanced and easier to control throughout the swing. Paired with the stock Fubuki HL shaft, this makes the C522 feel extremely smooth and very well balanced .

Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Hybrid 5

How Does it Sound?

Working alongside Tour Edge’s titanium 360º Cup Face and the Diamond Face 2.0 technology are the “Acoustic Resonance Channels” or “ARC”. You can actually see these channels on the sole of the club. They work by strategically redirecting the sound vibrations through the club head at impact. The resulting sound is a slightly metallic “tick” that’s appropriately forceful, but not overly loud . Even with testing indoors on a launch monitor, the sound was a nice medium tone that’s comparable to more expensive hybrids of this size and shape.

Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Hybrid 4

On-Course Performance

The Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 hybrid’s low and back CG make it incredibly easy to launch with a controlled ball flight . I was concerned that I might have too much ballooning with the softer Fubuki shaft, but I was able to achieve a more penetrating flight with a slight rise. This gave me plenty of distance and I could shape the ball both directions with ease. I also had no problem flighting the ball up or down as needed. Basically what I’m saying is that I could play a wide range of shots on command with a tight dispersion. (Misses caused by bad swings omitted, of course. That’s not the club’s fault!) If I had to throw this hybrid in the bag, I could certainly have success with it.

Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Hybrid 2

Final Thoughts – Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Hybrid

Out of both the entire E and C series of the Tour Edge Hot Launch 522 lineup, the C522 hybrid was the biggest standout performer to me. Not that the rest of the Hot Launch line isn’t great, but the C522 is legitimately a really good hybrid and possibly the best value under Tour Edge’s umbrella. It has great feel and premium performance that holds up against competition that’s exponentially more expensive. As Tour Edge says, “pound for pound, nothing comes close.” Following my testing of the Hot Launch C522 hybrid, I think this club really lives up to that claim.

Tour Edge unveils new E522 and C522 irons

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Tour Edge has introduced its new E522 and C522 irons in its new family of 522 clubs which the company describes as  “The easiest clubs you’ll ever hit”.

Hot Launch E522 Iron (Iron-woods)

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The E522 irons feature a new Houdini Sole in conjunction with a super-shallow face, slice-fighting offset design, and heel weighting in design for added draw bias.

The raised steel mass area of the Houdini Sole at the rear of the iron head reduces the amount of sole area in a bid to reduce drag and turf interaction. Per Tour Edge, the Houdini Sole design element has proven to be one of the most effective technologies at getting balls out of tough lies by reducing turf interaction by 35%.

The hollow-body perimeter weighting aims to provide players with distance properties of a metalwood in an iron design for maximum ball speed, while the hollow body design makes for an extremely low and back Center of Gravity, which seeks to create a very forgiving and robust face.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The E522 irons feature a super-shallow Cup Face design which is designed to produce higher launch angles and extreme ease of launch. This super-thin forged face design seeks to offer the ultimate in enhanced launch characteristics, with extreme ease of launch, increased apex heights, hang time and distance all targeted.

In addition, the offset design of the E522 irons aims to work in conjunction with the heel weight in the clubhead to help players avoid hitting slices and increase launch conditions.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The E522 Iron comes stock with a Fubuki HL graphite shaft by Mitsubishi that ranges from 50-grams to 60-grams  depending on the flex. It is also available in a KBS MAX 80 steel shaft.

Hot Launch C522 Iron

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Constructed of 431 stainless steel, the C522 irons are designed to offer maximum distance, forgiveness and soft feel in a traditional cavity back design.

At the heart of the C522 iron is the new Vibrcor technology that comes to the Hot Launch line for the first time with this iron.

Vibrcor is a high-grade TPU strategically placed in the deep undercut pocket in design to create a new speed-inducing and feel-enhancing internal technology.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The technology creates a distinct feel of the clubhead at impact that dampens sound and shock while also creating perimeter weighting around the entire clubhead in a bid to offer maximum forgiveness, power and ball speed enhancement off the face.

In addition, the deep 360 degree Undercut Cavity bids to promote a myriad of game-enhancement benefits in a classic iron design. The expanded undercut cavity is designed to provide maximum forgiveness and consistent performance. At the same time, it also seeks to offer an increased repulsion effect for high-speed power off the face and a higher launch angle and enhanced forgiveness.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The C522 irons feature a wide sole design that lowers the Center of Gravity in design to offer excellent bounce and increased launch for cleaner, high-flying shots. The wide sole design also seeks to provide cleaner turf interaction for more consistent shot-making.

The advanced toe weighting technology in the C522 Iron aims to maximize stability on impact and provide better off-center hit distance from the face of the iron, while the strategically placed toe weight is designed to elongate the sweet spot and provide a pure feel off the face of the irons.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The lower and deeper Center of Gravity allowed the C522 irons to be power-lofted for added distance and lower spin with the same launch characteristics as a standard lofted iron to complete the irons.

The Hot Launch E522 and C522 arrive at retail on October 1 and are priced at $79.99 per iron for the C522 irons, while the E522 irons will retail for $99.99 per iron.

Best irons in golf of 2024: slower swing speed (easiest to launch).

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

In our effort to assemble the 2024 best irons , we have again compiled an expert panel of fitters to help you find out which of the 2024 irons is best for your game.

Ultimately the best way to find your personal best iron set is to work with a professional fitter using a launch monitor. The difficult part is a lot of people don’t have easy access to fitters, launch monitors, and club builders — so at GolfWRX, we have done a lot of the work for you.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

We want to give you the tools and information to go out and find what works best for you by offering recommendations for your individual iron set wants and needs with insight and feedback from the people who work every single day to help golfers get peak performance out of their equipment.

Best irons of 2024: The process

The best fitters in the world see all the options available in the marketplace, analyze their performance traits, and pull from that internal database of knowledge and experience like a supercomputer when they are working with a golfer.

It’s essentially a huge decision tree derived from experience and boiled down to a starting point of options—and it has nothing to do with a handicap!

Modern iron sets are designed into player categories that overlap the outdated “what’s your handicap?” model, and at GolfWRX we believe it was important to go beyond handicap and ask specific questions about the most crucial performance elements fitters are looking at.

These are the best iron categories we have developed to help you determine which category is most important for your swing and game.

Best irons of 2024: The categories

  • Overall performance
  • Easiest to launch/Slower swing speed
  • Pure enjoyment
  • Most technology-packed

2024 Best irons: Easy to launch/Slower swing speed

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

These are the irons for golfers who need height. With today’s modern golf ball, creating proper flight widows and spin can be difficult for some players — especially those at lower speeds — and this is where technology can really help. All of these irons do everything they can to create shot-stopping trajectories and a steeper angle of descent.

Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal HL

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Their story: With the JPX923 Hot Metal, Mizuno introduced “4355 nickel chromoly,” which is 35 percent stronger than the original Hot Metal material and allows for an eight-percent thinner clubface. Cup face construction works in tandem with a deep center of gravity for high launch with stopping power. Mizuno developed Hot Metal Pro, Hot Metal and Hot Metal HL (High Launch) from 175,000 real golf swings recorded via Mizuno’s Swing DNA system. JPX923 Hot Metal HL is a high launch speed cavity delivering a higher launching option for players with moderate swing speeds or aggressive shaft lean, it’s suitable for mid to high-handicap golfers.

Fitter comments:

  • “We’re talking about… people who need forgiveness, but they don’t spin it enough. They don’t get it in the air. The HL is a little little weaker-lofted, but they have the size and the forgiveness they need. It’s one of the go-tos for us.”
  • “We’ve been getting a lot of guys where it’s like, you know, the way you deliver it, you really need the loft of a, of a blade, but you’re not good enough to hit a blade. So, you know, we need to get some height. Like the slower swing speed player, aging golfer, like they don’t have 130 MPH ball speed with a seven that they can launch it at 15 degrees and still get it in the air. They gotta get that thing off the ground and up to get some distance out of it. And this thing is just, it’s so easy to get up in the air…even if we do bend other things weaker, we can’t get it as high lofted as that thing, and it just goes straight up in the air.”
  • “It’s super forgiving and it feels pretty good that. We sell more HL’s than we do standard Hot Metals. It’s such a popular golf club.”
  • “It’s a spectacular club and really is probably the best club in that high-launch category. If you take the high launch QI, you take the [Callaway Paradym] Ai Smoke HL, [Mizuno JPX923 Hot Metal] HL, that’s the best one.”

For more photos/info, read our launch piece.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke HL

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Their story: At the core of Callaway’s new Ai Paradym Smoke irons is the Ai Smart Face. With the Ai Smart Face, these irons are designed to promote exceptional distance, tight dispersion into the green, and optimal launch in a modern construction. The new shape consists of longer blade lengths, thinner toplines, and optimized sole widths in a bid to create a forgiving, yet streamlined look at address. In addition, an all-new Dynamic Sole Design features a pre-worn leading edge with variable bounce that cuts through the turf with efficiency.

  • “Compared to the standard Ai Smoke, it’s definitely launching a little bit higher. I would say blade length is a little bit longer. So, you know, it’s a little bit more forgiving a little bit easier to hit than that traditional AI Smoke. It’s gonna launch higher than Ai Smoke and spin a little bit more for that player that needs that help.”
  • “Amazing when it comes to getting the ball airborne and retaining spin. Very easy to hit and very stable through impact. Second place to Mizuno, for me.”
  • “The HL version allows for a player to play a strong lofted iron in a lightweight package that helps achieve great distance. This iron is long! The ball speeds are crazy high. This iron is great for a player who flips at it.”
  • “Even though not as light as the others, the HL gets the ball in air faster and slower speed needs that for distance”
  • “Powerful but still helps get the ball to launch at a playable angle. Generates height well with lots of speed across the face.”

TaylorMade Qi HL

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Their story: With a blend of minimalistic aesthetics and advanced multi-material technology, TaylorMade’s new Qi irons aim to deliver the optimal combination of distance, accuracy and solid feel in an inviting game-improvement package. At the heart of the Qi iron is individual head optimization, organic face designs, and FLTD CG, all working in unison to help golfers minimize the right miss. With their latest irons, TaylorMade has designed the all-new Qi irons to have significantly less right bias for straighter and more accurate shots.

Fitter comments:

  • “That’s a big ass iron. But you also have a much better look than the [Stealth] HD last year. That [iron] was really shallow in the face that got the ball up great. But it just didn’t look the way some people wanted, right? They didn’t want a small face. So it’s a really good option for people.”
  • “You’re seeing some of these companies…I think they’re seeing that sometimes…a little bit of loft can be, be good, you know, but they’re combing it with heads now that are super tight off the face. You get some of those guys catching it all on the face, the thing still getting up in the air, still producing ball speed.”
  • “I would say the Qi HL, it’s like kind of top charts when it comes to…if someone’s hitting it, that thing wants to go. And I think they definitely did a good job…with the redesign of it compared to Stealth HD.”
  • “The previous generation was a little bit off-putting, you know, some, most people don’t wanna play kind of, you know, a hybrid-iron. It’s a little bit easier to hit a little bit better package…compared to the HD, the packaging is 1,000,000 bucks.”
  • “I mean…[Stealth] HD worked really good but it was very hard to…get someone to accept that they had to use it. Now at the [Qi10] HL you put that in someone’s hands, it looks good. It feels good. And they feel like, ‘I’m using a, a golfer golf club,’ you know. It’s a real battle sometimes with people…our job is performance, but they also want something that’s gonna look good in their bag.”
  • “The fact that it looks like a regular golf club is helpful. I think in that modern-day iron, it’s just lofts are getting so strong, and the ball is spinning so little off of these things that if you don’t naturally hit it super high, irons like that are just perfect for guys, they’re able to hold greens, stop it quicker. For a lot of guys, that height means more distance. So they’re actually hitting it farther with more loft and, and be able to hold a green better. And guys that maybe had a five hybrid are now getting a five iron back in their bag and it’s great.”

Ping G430 HL

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Their story: Billed as Ping’s “longest iron ever”, the G430 irons combine a lower CG with stronger, custom- engineered lofts and a thinner face that delivers up to 2 more mph of ball speed, per the company. At the heart of the new addition is the PurFlex cavity badge, an innovation which features seven flex zones that allow more free bending in design to increase ball speed across the face. In combination with a lower CG, the badge aims to contribute to the solid feel and pleasing impact sound. The stronger lofts across the set resulted in the addition of a 41 degree PW to ensure proper gapping options and allowed for standard lofts in the traditional scoring wedges (45.5, 50, 54 and 58 degrees).

From the fitters:

  • “With that Alta Quick shaft, I mean, it’s just, it’s super easy to kick that thing up in the air. And what I really like about it is they don’t put flex on the shaft. We’ve had, you know, I mean, you explain to the customer like, hey, you know, you might, you know, you’re gonna need that 35-gram Alta Quick. It’s not gonna say, you know, ladies flex or whatever and no one knows.”
  • “It’s super easy to hit, super easy to launch, especially for someone who needs…that help and forgiveness.”
  • “What I like about what Ping does, they don’t just like, shove a lighter-weight shaft in the same club head. They put a lighter grip on it, they put a lighter shaft in it. So like they kind of do it the right way. It’s just an overall lighter package version of the best game improvement iron out there. So it’s you get all the forgiveness and everything else that you get with G430, but now in a total balanced package for a slower swing speed player, it’s, it’s great.”
  • “What I like about it too is with the Alta Quick 35 [shaft]. It’s essentially like a ladies golf club that doesn’t say ladies on it. So like you get that guy that swings super slow or you get like that junior boy or something like that that just, you know, I’m not, you know, especially like the kids like, I mean, he’s not playing a club that says ladies on it or it’s purple or something you can get than this and it looks just like his dad’s G430s, but it just gets up in the air and goes and it’s awesome.”
  • “The best iron in the game improvement category. High launch and packed with forgiveness on those off-center hits. It’s one of the easiest irons to hit. The HL version allows players who need a lighter package and need help with higher launch are able to achieve that with this iron.”

Titleist T350

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Their story: The new T350 irons are still built for maximum distance and forgiveness, but they were redesigned with a hollow-body construction that’s inspired by the T200. Like the T200, the T350 also uses Max Impact Technology behind the face to maximize speed and forgiveness, and dual-tungsten weights in the back cavity. The T350 irons are noticeably larger, and with thicker toplines, than the T200 irons for golfers who need the additional surface area and stability.

  • “The T350 is super good. They definitely cleaned it up, cleaned up that topline a little bit and made it…a little bit more compact, a little bit smaller for sure.”
  • “You know, I think is one of those irons that maybe sometimes can get overlooked. I don’t know…some guys, they think ‘Titleist,’ they can’t hit it. If someone’s in this category, it’s always a club you’re gonna have.”
  • “So like this is the first one in that model that’s had like a forged face and, and, and, and I think that just improved the feel of it. Topline to me looks a little bit cleaner and, they do a nice job of hiding the offset doesn’t look quite obnoxious when you look down at it. I don’t know if it’s like the chrome that they put or whatever, but it looks a lot cleaner at address. The iron’s always been super easy to get up in here.”
  • “That type of customer, I know they all want to do is just hit it nice and far. But we’re seeing so many guys come in that just need help getting it airborne in that moderate kind of clubhead speed category. And this thing is probably, if not the easiest, one of the easiest irons in this category to launch. And I think that’s what makes it so great.”
  • “High launch is a key component to this iron. Clean look, with reduced offset and a better look for a players game improvement iron. Players are surprised that this is a game improvement iron based on the looks and package size.”

Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 Irons Review

More in reviews:.

Skechers GO GOLF Blade GF

50 Words or Less

The Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 irons offer high end forgiveness at a bargain basement price.  Ideal for the new golfer or anyone seeking more high, straight shots.

Check out the new Tour Edge Hot Launch E523 irons HERE

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Introduction

Some golfers believe that the joy of the game is in the struggle.  If that describes you, you’re probably going to want to stop reading.  However, if you’re the kind of golfer who wants to hit more high, pretty shots, read on to learn how the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 irons can help.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

I tested the Hot Launch E522 irons alongside the C522 irons [full review HERE ], and the first thing I noticed was that the top line of the E522 is actually a bit thinner than that of the C522 in the short irons.  However, as you move into the long irons, the topline gets wider.  Overall I would regard the top line as medium-thick .  Both irons have a substantial amount of offset .

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

The big difference between the two set is that the E522 is a larger, hollow body hybrid-iron .  In the higher lofted clubs, the black part that sticks out beyond the top line is very well hidden.  In the long irons, that “extra” really stands out.  Obviously traditionalists are not going to vibe with this design, but players that find confidence in a larger profile will love it.

Finally, each iron in the Hot Launch E522 set comes with a sock-style headcover , as shown above.  While they are technically iron covers, I think they’re a lot better looking than the black neoprene thing that most of us think of when we hear that term.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Sound & Feel

The large, hollow body of the Hot Launch E522 irons produces an impact sound that’s fairly loud and medium-high pitched .  Impact gets a little louder in the long irons with good strikes sounding like gunshots.  That sound is accompanied by a feel that is fairly fast but not springy .

For a head this large, I was surprised by how precisely I was able to feel the impact location.  The sound didn’t change dramatically from pure shots to mishits, but my hands told the truth about strike quality.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

Performance

Tour Edge designed the Hot Launch E522 irons with ease of play as the number one goal.  To that end, they used a shallow face design and their Houdini Sole to create a super low center of gravity so that every shot gets airborne .  If you struggle to elevate the ball, these irons are going to be a godsend.

The other thing that makes these irons so much fun to play is the forgiveness.  The large, hollow body allows for extreme perimeter weighting and tremendous stability.  That means that the ball speed, launch angle, and spin rates barely change from shot to shot.  These are some of the most consistent irons I’ve ever tested .

One thing that should be noted is that the lofts of the E522 irons are much weaker than those of the C522 .  This helps with getting the ball airborne and may create longer carry distances for some players in the long irons.  However, if you’re testing the two irons side by side, don’t be surprised if the C522 is longer, particularly in the short and mid irons.

Finally, Tour Edge offers the Hot Launch E522 with two stock shaft options .  If you want steel, there’s the KBS Max 80, a fairly light weight option.  For players seeking to cut even more weight, the graphite option is the Mitsubishi Fubuki HL.  Depending on the flex, this shaft weighs between 50 and 60 grams.

tour edge c522 driver vs e522

For the new golfer or those who simply want to get on the course and hit some high, straight shots, I can’t recommend the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 irons enough.  These irons are fun and easy to hit and extremely consistent.  Add in the fantastic value, and you have an all-around winner.

Hi Matt – any significant difference between the E522s and the previous gen E521 irons? They look very similar to me. Almost exactly the same.

' src=

I didn’t get to review the E521, so I can’t speak to the differences.

' src=

Hi i think the c522s would be my pick if choosen as i am very new to this game that i can not get away from maybe it help me with my worm burners that im prone to hit. When playing my horrible brother inlaw for getting me started in this new hobby. Lol thanks

' src=

This is the first review I’ve seen of these and I’ve been waiting for one. Thank you, good read.

' src=

I see in this article that these irons come with covers. I bought a set at the PGA store and they didn’t give me a set of covers.

' src=

These are a pretty good looking set of irons. Thanks for the review!

' src=

I am excited to see in person.

' src=

I’ve been hitting the E- 522 Irons for nine months, 5 thru P.W. W ith Graft . Shafts.I have gain 15 to 25 yards depending on the Iron. Absolutely love them. They say they will launch high & THEY DO.

Saw them in shop for the first time last night. They looked a little less bulky than previous versions to my eye. I’m not sure if they did slim them down or if using black makes them look slimmer, but the 6i I was holding at address didn’t look like it had as much junk in the trunk.

' src=

Pretty good looking. Might grab a set for my dad. Could definitely use the help getting it airborne.

' src=

Interested in the E522 after reading the review.

' src=

A great club for sure! I need these at 60. They do everything well.

' src=

I like the E522’s

' src=

Nice looking. They look like the type of clubs that would help me make better contact. Would look pretty sharp in my bag too!

' src=

luv to try them

' src=

I think the E522 would be a perfect addition as I still struggle getting the loft I need especially as I get closer to the green! Thanks for the review!

' src=

Thanks for the review Matt. Looks like my kind of irons that will go well with my Exotics woods and hybrid already in the bag.

' src=

Would like to try game improvement clubs.

' src=

I’ve had my eyes on these clubs for awhile now. These would definitely help improve my game!

' src=

Consistency and forgiveness? I’m in!

' src=

Might be just what this senior player needs to get back on track. Shots are getting shorter, handicap is going up, golf hasn’t been as much fun. E522 s May be the way to go!

' src=

As an older golfer whose short game is still pretty good, my main concern is distance. I hit the ball pretty straight but distance is my main concern. I like traditional iron shapes . Which model would you suggest?

I have been using Taylormade RBZ irons with Steel Fiber i70 shafts.

' src=

I love my Tour Edge Extreme driver. Maybe time to try the E522 irons.

' src=

If the short and mid irons are longer in the c522 irons even though weaker lofted, I would opt for the C522. We play a lot of elevated greens and the extra height will definitely be a plus!

' src=

These look like the exact clubs to help me improve ( mind you i dont have any clubs just now)

' src=

Would like the C522 irons*

' src=

Beautiful clubs! After reviewing both, I feel the E522 would be a great fit for me.

' src=

E522 FOR ME!

' src=

I would like a set of these please

' src=

I need these.

' src=

I’m in my 50’s and am fortunate enough to still play with my father. If the E522s make it more fun to play, I’m in. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the great reviews. Always love seeing them in my inbox.*

' src=

At 77 years old my iron game is not too good. Woods are great and short game is good. Just can’t hit an iron period! Love to have the E 521 ironwoods.

' src=

Been looking at hybrid irons lately. I think I would choose this E522 set instead of the C522 set.

' src=

As a 75 year old with a 10 handicap I’m beginning to feel the need for more forgiveness in my iron shots. The E522 irons look like they are the type of clubs I should be using. Have them on my to buy list at present but would love to receive a set to try out and then recommend to friends.*

' src=

Hot launch irons please

' src=

I would go for the E522 set

' src=

Getting a little long in the tooth. Would like to try E522. Keep up the good work, I always enjoy reading your reviews. Especially with a foot of snow out there.

' src=

Would love to try the Tour Edge Hot Launch E22…High, straight and long are what I am looking for in a set of new irons…

' src=

E522, could possibility fit my game! I’m older golfer, I’m needing club that offers forgiveness and added distance. Would love to give set a try.

' src=

The Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 irons for me please.

' src=

I think the E522 would be a better fit for me. Would love to try!*

' src=

The E522 irons look like they would be perfect for a new player. A lady friend of mine is taking her first lessons soon, and these would be wonderful for her!

' src=

Would love a set of the e522 irons!

' src=

I purchased the E522 driver and love it. The ball goes straight and far. I own a 2018 Hot Launch Tour Edge clubs but the new E irons would really complete the older set to a newer one. Other golfers ask me what I’m hitting when they hear that driver work off the tee!!

' src=

The c522’s look great. Like the distance aspect and consistency. I would choose the c522 irons over the e522

' src=

Would love the c522. Am a 12 handicap and ready to enhance my game while realizing I’m still an amateur. This was on my list, so thanks!!

' src=

I’m thinking the E522 irons are better suited to my game…. send them along!

' src=

The E522 irons (regular graphite shaft) would interest me. I currently play an older set of graphite-shafted Adams with the 4, 5 & 6 irons being hybrids and I find them very easy to hit. The E522 looks similar and, as I purchased a Tour Exotics driver almost three years ago and am extremely pleased with it, a full set of Tour Exotics would really be appreciated. (I bought the driver based on your review and one of my playing partners bought a full set of Tour Exotics after trying my driver.)

' src=

I struggle to hit traditional irons. I have a largely hybrid set of clubs. This seems like something that could help my game. Love the innovation, and judging by the comments in this thread, they perform. Hope I win!

' src=

I’d love to put these in my bag!

' src=

The E522 have a hybrid look that I like.*

' src=

E522 are my choice; good review!

' src=

Definitely Interested in this set. Any help I can get with mishits would be a godsend!*

' src=

As an older golfer, I have trouble getting the ball airborne and the E522 would be the solution, as well as the forgiveness that these irons would provide. Would love to be the recipient of these great looking sticks.

' src=

Although I am far from a novice golfer from what I reading in the reviews and how I honestly assess where my game is at I think E522’s might be more suitable for me at this time.*

' src=

Very interesting looking set of irons and the sock-covers are intriguing…don’t believe I could get used to the look. Please consider outfitting my bag this year with a set of C522 irons. I already pack Tour Edge Exotic fairways…Thanks..

' src=

80 yrs young. would like to move to new technology as my irons are almost as old as me!*

' src=

Interesting review as an older golfer hybrid clubs should be the best for myself.

' src=

I would love to consistently hit my irons in the air, I usually hit them so the ball rolls down the fairway. Very frustrating. I go to the range 2-3 times a week & play 2 rounds per week & I still suck. I love the game & wont stop playing. These clubs seem to be the answer I’ve been looking for. Hope they work as described.

' src=

My sister does not like irons so these look like they would be a great for her.

' src=

Good review of C522 and E522!

' src=

I think these irons could even help lower handicap players. Straight and high launching is nice for everyone. I will play with anything that makes the game for fun and I’d love to try them.

' src=

If you’re an older golfer, get real. I mean, who are we kidding? Hybrids rule. Advance it out of the rough. From the fairway, high and straight. From around the green, you could chip with any of them and get it close. Thank you.

' src=

For an older golfer, these would be ideal in graphite shafts. This is a great review of those clubs. Would love to get fitted for them and get a set.*

' src=

Looking to try out an all hybrid set. These look great.

' src=

Wow, the C522 sounds like it would help me greatly with my game. The C522 with graphite shafts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the consideration.

' src=

would like the C522’s

' src=

The E522 appeal to me.*

' src=

Would love to have these E522’s in my bag!

' src=

Great review, as always. As I’m losing speed and getting older, I’d love a set of these.

' src=

C522 with Mitsubishi shafts will do the trick. Love to try them. I need the help.

' src=

as a LEFT HANDED 65 year old who has played for a year and a half with mostly hybrids, i see the E522 regular /graphite shaft resembles clubs i could learn to use. I just broke 100 with a 93 score last week, playing three times a week, and the E522 clubs would enhance my game.

' src=

I would like the E522 set.

' src=

these look like irons that can only help the way the game is played!

' src=

I’d like a set of the E522 irons. Tour edge has always tried to make the game enjoyable for the average golfer.

' src=

The c522 graphite shaft should be the set for me. I need a game changing set. Let this be the it.

' src=

It would be great to have the E522’s in my bag.

' src=

I would luv the E522 set!

' src=

I definitely would prefer the E522 set. It much better suits my game. I currently play a Tour Edge driver and also have several of their fairways woods and hybrids. They have always performed well for me..

' src=

would love to play the 2022 season with the E522 irons!

' src=

My ball flight is not as high as I would like so this design with graphite shafts would definitely help. Hitting shots more consistently is a great benefit as well.

' src=

Hi, Enjoyed the reviews of the latest irons from Tour Edge. I’m in the market for new clubs and will seek an opportunity to test drive both models. I think the E522 iron set may be the correct set for me to help launch shots higher and longer. Thanks for the thorough reviews.

' src=

I would love to try these!

' src=

I did a test drive on the E522 a few week ago at Morton Golf @ Haggin Oaks Golf. Very impressed, realistic about my handicap index, these clubs are the Game Improvement I need!! Thank you.

' src=

They look good and i will be trying them out to see if they will help with my iron play

' src=

E522 steel….left handed. Probably not in the cards. Southpaws should be entitled to nice things also and these are gorgeous!

' src=

great clubs I already have a couple of the hybrid type plus a hybrid sand wedge just love this one

would love e522 thank you

' src=

Those E522s look great. A set of these would be a fantastic addition! I like the look of the C522s, too. I just began golfing last season. Based on the loft differences, do you think the C522 might require an extra wedge or the E522 would need an additional long club?

' src=

As an older guy with a very bad back I think these would be a really good style of club for me. I’d very much like to win these.

' src=

Not a fan of hybrids and run with a 4wood and 7 wood. Thinking this could be a good 4 iron/5 hybrid after my 7 wood. What do you think? More iron like.

' src=

I’ve never had a really good new set of irons. These look like they would be great.

' src=

The E522 seems like a better choice for a more casual golfer like myself.

' src=

Few years ago I was shooting under par every course and back problems. These clubs get the ball up and are forgiving and right spin and displacement (accurate). I look at the club face not what’s behind it. This company is on the right track and cant endorse them enough.

Also…I can draw or fade these at will. Started using them after I got back problems. And they are at a decent price too. Very impressed guys !!!!

' src=

Would these be comparable to the Cleveland Halo XL hybrids? THX

Yes, they’re in the same category.

' src=

I recently purchased the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 iron/woods with steel shaft and was wondering what the swing weight was on these. I prefer a heavier head weight (D2 at least) and these clubs feel a little lighter. I cannot find anything on the Tour Edge website that can answer this question so any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest taking your clubs to a builder to have them measured and adjusted if you don’t like the feel.

  2. Tour Edge E522 Driver Review

The Tour Edge C522 driver is one of the standout products I've tested this year, as it earned a rare 5-star rating for the impressive performance it delivered at what is simply an incredible price point. But there's another driver in the 522 lineup as well, and that's the E522, which will be the focus of this review.

  3. Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 Driver Review

Another thing that helps the E522 driver to be more consistent is the shaft length. Tour Edge builds the E522 to 44.5″ - half an inch shorter than the C522 - to promote better contact. While 1/2″ isn't going to turn a wild slicer into Rory McIlroy, it can definitely help the player feel more in control. Finally, the E522 driver does ...

  4. Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Driver Review

Like the E522, the C522 driver has Diamond Face 2.0 technology which keeps ball speed high even when you don't hit the center of the face. 7.

Reasons to buy.

  10. Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 Driver Review

3150. 283. 299.5. By design, the Tour Edge Hot Launch E522 driver is meant to launch the ball higher and spin a bit more. The Houdini Sole moves more mass low and deep in the head which helps get the ball in the air and spinning. Of course, Tour Edge wants this to be easy to achieve with the E522 driver and it certainly is.
