The President said that he has signed members’ participation agreement (MPA) for four tours with the governing body of India cricket which includes the country’s maiden Test tour to India since Bangladesh got their Test status in 2000.

According to the FTP of 2012-2020, India were supposed to tour Bangladesh in middle of 2014 (three ODIs only) and June 2015 (two Tests and three ODIs).

In addition to these tours, Bangladesh will tour India in August 2016 as the latter have free slots after the World Twenty20 and before the Champions League.

India has also agreed to tour Bangladesh in 2020 to play Tests and ODIs.

"We have signed with India that they will visit us in 2014," the BCB President said.

"Our main objective is to play more Test matches, and tour the big nations. We have confirmed these so far, because every country has a very tight schedule."

The ICC Board, on Saturday, approved the ‘controversial’ proposal of three powerful boards, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Cricket Australia (CA), which suggests that an arrangement of a bilateral tour depend upon the countries’ agreement.

The BCB has also secured MPAs with CA for a tour by Australia to Bangladesh in October 2015 to play Tests, as well as the July 2018 tour to play Tests and ODIs in Australia. The additional tour is scheduled for 2021, when Australia will tour Bangladesh.

According to the old FTP (Future Tours Program), England are also scheduled to tour Bangladesh in October 2016.

"According to the last FTP, we have 33 Tests left to play till 2020," Hassan continued.

"Now the timings might change with other teams at first, because of the MPA and all the hassle that will come with it. We have targeted around 50 Tests.”

"We will play more cricket now against big teams, and if we win or draw against them, then our ranking will rise. The proposal went as we wanted it. So you can say we are successful," he added.

Why India Are Not Yet In T20 World Cup Semi-Finals Despite Win vs Bangladesh - Explained

The indian cricket team is still not in the t20 world cup semi-finals despite winning two super 8 games.

india tour bangladesh 2016

The Indian cricket team's march in the T20 World Cup 2024 continued with a big 50-run win over Bangladesh in Antigua on Saturday. The likes of Hardik Pandya , Virat Kohli , Jasprit Bumrah , Arshdeep Singh performed really well as India stayed unbeaten in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, despite the second successive win in the Super 8 stage of T20 World Cup, India are not yet in the semi-final. Here's how: India have four points in two matches (NRR +2.425). The other teams are: Australia (two points in one game, NRR + 2.471), Afghanistan (0 points from 1 match, NRR -2.350) and Bangladesh (0 points from 2 games, -2.489).

Now, if Afghanistan beat Australia in their next match, then Australia beat India and then Afghanistan win vs Bangladesh, three teams will be on four points. The NRR will then decide the top two teams in the group. Hence, India are not yet in the semi-finals. However, if Australia defeat Afghanistan, both the Aussies and India will be through to the semi-fnals.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Hardik Pandya produced an all-round show while Kuldeep Yadav foxed Bangladesh batters with his guile as India all but assured themselves of a semifinals berth through a dominant 50-run victory in their second Super 8 game of the T20 World Cup on Saturday.

Star batter Virat Kohli (37 off 28) found much-needed rhythm before Shivam Dube (34 off 24) and Hardik (50 not out off 27) pushed India to 196 for five, the highest total at this venue so far.

Bangladesh could never really challenge India in the steep run-chase and ended up with 146/8 in 20 overs, their second straight loss in the Super 8s.

India will meet their match in Australia, the two unbeaten teams so far, in their final Super 8 fixture in St Lucia on Monday.

Kuldeep (3/19), who got his opportunity in the Caribbean leg of the competition, made the Bangladesh batters look clueless with the effective use of googly and stock ball.

Bumrah (2/13 in four) produced a frugal effort as usual. Bangladesh skipper Najmul Shanto (40 off 32) played some attacking shots including two sixes over fine leg off Hardik but did not get support from others as the batters let the team down once again.

India vs South Africa at the T20 World Cup final: all you need to know

It has been a reasonable low-scoring venue, but will it be the same in the final? (1:28)

  • Abhimanyu Bose

The finalists of the men's T20 World Cup 2024 have been decided; we are set for India and South Africa to scrap it out for the title on Saturday morning in Bridgetown, Barbados. Ahead of the big game, ESPNcricinfo is here to answer all the questions you might have about the final.

So India and South Africa it is. How many times have they met in ICC finals? Or a knockout match?

This will be the first time that the two teams meet in the final of a men's ICC tournament. India and South Africa did meet in the 2014 T20 World Cup semi-final , which India won.

Can they be called the two best teams in this tournament?

Well, one can say that the two most in-form teams have made it to the final. Both India and South Africa are unbeaten in the tournament, and both teams topped their respective groups in the group stage and the Super Eight, although South Africa have an extra win under their belt given India's washout against Canada.

Whoever wins the final will be the first team to win a men's T20 World Cup unbeaten.

Which team has taken the tougher route?

South Africa registered wins over Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Nepal in the group stage before beating USA and England in the Super Eight. They faced West Indies in their final Super Eight match, knowing that a defeat would knock them out, but eked out a three-wicket win in a tight contest that was shortened by rain.

After a string of narrow victories, South Africa hammered Afghanistan by nine wickets in the semi-final to march into the final.

India, meanwhile, began their campaign with wins over Ireland, Pakistan and USA. Their perfect record in the group stage was marred by rain, as their game against Canada in Lauderhill was washed out. India started the Super Eight stage with big wins against Afghanistan and Bangladesh and capped it off by beating Australia.

In the semi-final, India put in another comprehensive performance to down England by 68 runs .

In terms of opposition, it could be argued that India faced tougher teams, having to overcome Pakistan, Australia and then England in the semi-final, but South Africa were seriously tested in most games but still found a way.

Okay, so why is this final a big deal for South Africa?

Well, it is a historic occasion for South Africa because it is the first time they will be competing in the final of a men's World Cup, ODI or T20. In fact, apart from winning the inaugural Champions Trophy in 1998 , South Africa have not made the final of any ICC men's tournament.

They have come close on many occasions, reaching the semi-finals in five ODI World Cups (1992, 1999, 2007, 2015, 2023) and two T20 World Cups (2009 and 2014) before this year, but for the first time they have got to within one win of the title.

And why is it important for India?

While India won the first ever T20 World Cup, in 2007 , they are without a World Cup title since 2011 and their last ICC silverware was the 2013 Champions Trophy . They have come close since, reaching the final of the T20 World Cup in 2014, and the semi-finals in 2016 and 2022, as well as the semi-finals of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups. They also finished runners-up in the two World Test Championship finals - in 2021 and 2023. Last year, they were unbeaten en route to the final in a home ODI World Cup, but faced heartbreak in the final. Less than 12 months later, they have a chance to heal some of those wounds and end their barren run in global events.

When was the last time a World Cup was held in the West Indies?

The 2010 T20 World Cup was the last one hosted by the West Indies. That year's final , between England and Australia, was also played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

So what do we know about the pitch and conditions?

Well, this will be the ninth match of the tournament at the venue. The first game here went to a Super Over , but there haven't been any close contests here since.

The teams batting first won three of the next four completed matches at the venue, and Scotland had raced to 90 for no loss in 10 overs against England before that game was called off. The last two matches in Bridgetown had West Indies and England bowling USA out cheaply and completing comfortable chases.

South Africa haven't played here this tournament, but India have had one game here - a 47-run win over Afghanistan .

Wind, is that going to be a factor?

It could be windy, with wind gusts predicted at 35 kmph from the east, going up to 45 kmph. But it probably won't have as much of an influence as it did in Gros Islet when India took on Australia.

The India-England semi-final was affected by rain. What's the Barbados weather forecast looking like for the final?

According to AccuWeather, there are some showers expected, so we may face interruptions. There is a roughly 50% chance of precipitation in the morning between 4am and 9am, but that comes down to roughly 30% between 10am (the scheduled toss time) and 1pm, when it goes up again to roughly 50%. There will be 190 minutes of extra time allotted on Saturday to try and complete the game. Both teams need to bat at least 10 overs for a winner to be declared.

So there is a reserve day?

Yes, the final does have a reserve day. The match will only go into Sunday if at least 10 overs each is not possible on Saturday even with extra time. The game, if already underway, will pick up from where it left off on Saturday, not start from scratch.

Like match day, the scheduled start of play on the reserve day is 10.30am local time. There are some showers forecast for Sunday too, though the forecast for match hours is relatively better (about 20% chance of rain) than what's expected overnight and later in the day.

What happens if we can't get a result even after the reserve day?

If the weather prevents the match from being completed even on the reserve day, both teams shall be declared joint-winners.

And what happens if it's a tie?

A Super Over will decide the result, and if that also ends in a tie, there will be another Super Over and so on until a result is achieved.

If the Super Over is abandoned because of poor weather after a tied game, the two teams will be declared joint winners.

india tour bangladesh 2016

India march on as they stay unbeaten in the tournament. They are all but confirmed for the semis where they will play in Guyana. Can anyone stop them? We will find out as the tournament goes on. For now we sign off from here. Keep following this platform for all your cricketing needs. Till next time, take care and be well. Bye.

Rohit Sharma | India captain: [on playing aggressively with bat] I have been talking about this for a long time now. It's about going there and putting that into work. Considering everything we played really well, adapted to the conditions. There's a little bit of wind factor here, overall we are very smart, overall we were good with bat and ball. All eight batters need to play their role, whatever it is. We saw one guy get 50 and we got 197, in T20 I don't believe we need to get fifties and hundreds, what matters is the pressure you put on the bowlers. All the batters from the word go played like that and that's how we want to play as well. There is a lot of experience in the squad and we back them. [on Hardik] I mentioned in the last game as well, him batting well puts us in a good stead. We want to finish well after the top 5, 6, Hardik being Hardik we know what he is capable of. He is a very important player for us, if he can keep doing that, it will put us in good positions. Excitement and if we discuss something with the bowler and when it comes off, it's nice. Everyone when it came to our bowling adapted well and we discussed those things and they did well.

Najmul Hossain Shanto | Bangladesh captain: We were thinking about 160-170 when we put them into bat, but they batted well so credit to them. [on the weather and wind] I don't think that is an issue, the players are habituated to that. We did not show as much intent as we needed with the bat, when we are chasing 190, we needed to show more intent especially in the first six. I try to contribute but need to finish the games. Tanzim Sakib in this tournament has done a great job and happy for Rishad too, we have been looking for a good legspinner for a long time now.

Stats by Deepu Narayanan

Hardik Pandya | Player of the Match: We have played really good cricket. More than anything we have stuck together and executed our plans. I did realise the batters wanted to use the breeze, I made sure I did not give them a chance where the wind was blowing, it was about being one step ahead as a batter. We as a group can get better in a lot of places, losing wickets in bunches is something we can rectify and get better at, apart from that, we are looking good. I have been fortunate to play for the country, it was a freak injury I had, I wanted to come back but God had other plans. I was talking to Rahul [Dravid] sir the other day, and he said: Luck comes to people who work hard and that has stuck with me for a long time.

13:46 Local Time, 17:46 GMT, 23:16 IST: India win by 50 runs and have one foot and two hands into the semis. At the innings break, Aaron Finch was asked if this target can be chased down and he categorically ruled it out. And India put in a professional perfomance to prove him right. 197 was always going to be a mountain to chase on this and the powerplay was crucial. Bangladesh did not get the quick score they needed to put pressure on India and once the ball got soft and the spinners came in, it was hard to put the ball away. Shanto tried as he hit a couple of sixes in one Hardik over but India never allowed the rate to go down. Kuldeep bowled a wonderful spell and the others just did their jobs to perfection. The fielding too was quite good with catches taken to go with good ground fielding. Bumrah was again outstanding and India look a well-rounded outfit in these conditions. Stay tuned for the presentations...
