9 Best Apps for Finding Cheap Flights
The best flight apps help you score a deal with a few swipes on your smartphone.

With the help of technology, you may be able to save by booking at the right time, snagging a mistake fare or flying into a different airport.
Key Takeaways
- Airfare can be one of the most expensive parts of traveling.
- Apps make it easy to track trends in fare prices, look for deals and book flights.
- Some apps are completely free to use while others may charge a fee.
- While some apps charge a fee, there may be a free version available with limited features.
There’s good news for travelers: airfares dropped 5.9% during the past year as of May 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That means taking that dream vacation may be more attainable now than in the past.
You may be able to save even more by booking at the right time, snagging a mistake fare or flying into a different airport. To find the best deals, you can use an app designed to help people find cheap flights.
The best flight apps offer features that will alert you to price drops, let you search for cheaper travel times or help you find special pricing not found elsewhere.
Try one of these nine discount airfare apps and services that frequent flyers say work for them:
A good flight alert program can simplify the process of finding a deal. These services send emails or notifications whenever there is discounted airfare available to selected destinations, and Going is a favorite source for flight alerts. The company notes that most deals are 40% to 90% off normal prices and says most members save an average of $550 on economy flights.
“(It) is one of the best apps to use when searching for cheap flights,” says Alex Miller, CEO of UpgradedPoints.com. “It can narrow down what city you're located in and then alert you when a qualifying airfare, based on criteria that you set, is found.”
Users can choose from three tiers of service:
Free limited accounts receive alerts about deals on continental U.S. flights.
Premium plans cost $49 a year and include international and domestic economy flights as well as mistake fares and points and miles deals.
Frequent globetrotters may want to spring for the elite plan that provides alerts for economy, business and first-class flights as well as mistake fares from all U.S. airports. It costs $199 per year.
2. Skyscanner
Skyscanner has a free flight app that is compatible with both Apple and Android devices and provides pricing alerts when a good deal becomes available. The app is easy to use and allows you to set alerts for specific dates or routes.
Travelers can also use Skyscanner's calendar and charts to compare hundreds of flights for both international and domestic destinations. The app highlights flights that emit less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, lets users mix and match flights from different carriers and offers a search option that allows travelers to find the best prices for flights originating from their chosen airports.
When you find a flight you like, Skyscanner will direct you to a third-party booking app to make the purchase. In addition to flights, users can search for hotels and car rentals using Skyscanner.
3. Dollar Flight Club
Dollar Flight Club is similar to Going, but it structures its plans differently.
Free accounts get alerted to deals from one departure airport while premium members can choose four departure airports for deal alerts on domestic and international economy flights. Premium membership costs $69 a year. There is also a Premium Plus+ membership that runs $169 per year and includes premium economy and business class deals as well.
The service says booking a single flight using Dollar Flight Club can provide a return of 10 times your investment and that the average savings on a Premium Plus+ flight deal is more than $700.
4. Google Flights
While not currently available as an app, Google Flights offers a simple online interface that allows you to search for flights to specific airports and then see a calendar view that shows when flights will be cheapest. It also has a price graph that allows you to see pricing trends over time.
“You can plug in your start city and then let Google Flights make suggestions on where to fly from there based upon the cost of airfare,” Miller says. That’s a useful tool for travelers with flexibility.
Once you find the right airfare, you'll need to find and book it directly with the carrier or through a third-party booking service.
The Hopper app comes with a variety of tools that can help you find and lock in the best price. It is free to download and use although some features, such as price freezes and the ability to cancel for any reason, come with a fee. However, its core service is to predict future travel prices, something Hopper says it can do with 95% accuracy.
That’s one reason it’s among the best flight apps, according to Kevin Raposo, founder of KnowTechie. He used it to book a vacation to Saint Lucia and says it couldn’t have been easier. “You can do it all at the push of a button,” he says.
For those just browsing on the app – which is available for Apple and Android devices – Hopper will color code flights using green, yellow and red to indicate which flights are most and least expensive.
Compatible with Android and Apple devices, Kiwi promises its app will provide travelers with exclusive offers and prices. It searches for the best rates from all available airlines to piece together the lowest-priced itinerary.
The free app also offers the opportunity to search for all deals from a specific airport, which can be handy for those who are ready to take a vacation but don't have a particular destination in mind. Within the app, users can get price alerts, access mobile boarding passes and view airport maps.
Kiwi also offers travel hacks that can save money, such as bookings with “hidden cities” and a Nomad tool for those who want to visit multiple cities. What's more, the app offers other travel services such as destination guides and the location of Wi-Fi hotspots.
7. ExpertFlyer
The ExpertFlyer website won’t win any design awards. It looks like something from the early days of the internet and even references now-obsolete Blackberry devices. But frequent flyers say that shouldn’t deter you.
“ExpertFlyer is another great tool, though admittedly it's for the more advanced flyer,” Miller says. “Rather than perform ordinary searches to uncover good airfare deals, you can set alerts and search by specific inventory on flights.”
That means that this service is intended for those who know where, when and with which airline they want to fly. If you have a specific route that you travel frequently, ExpertFlyer can help you find discounted fares.
A free version provides seat alerts while a paid pro subscription, which starts at $4.99 per month, comes with additional features such as the ability to search for awards and upgrades.
Airfare apps aren’t only for those booking vacations. Business travelers and their employers are often searching for a good deal as well. That’s the niche Onriva fills.
“We’ve built a platform to bring everything in one place (so) you don’t have to hop from site to site,” says Onriva founder and CEO Vajid Jafri. “This has never existed before.”
While other apps may make it possible to book from multiple companies, they typically serve as a digital travel agency. With Onriva, all bookings are made directly with an airline or other vendor through the app’s platform, which it says can provide savings of 20%. For added convenience, Onriva also provides customer service.
The app brings together travel options from more than three million suppliers and then uses artificial intelligence to learn user preferences and make recommendations.
Anyone with a business email address can sign up for an Onriva account, but you’ll have to request a demo to get pricing information.
9. Your Favorite Airline’s App
In your search for cheap flights, don’t overlook your favorite airline’s app. Booking direct can sometimes be the best option, according to Sandra McLemore, a travel industry expert and TV host.
“While these (third-party) apps may feel convenient and more user-friendly than other online booking options, buyer beware,” McLemore says. If you buy your tickets through that third-party app, you may find it difficult to receive customer service should any issues arise.
“An airline will send you right back to the app or online booking engine to receive service,” McLemore points out.
Also, by focusing your spending with a specific airline you may find it easier to accumulate frequent flyer miles, which you can redeem for free flights and therefore save more money in the long run.

How To Find The Cheapest Flights To Anywhere
Itching to just grab your suitcase and fly somewhere? Don’t really care where as long as it’s cheap and gets you away from wherever you are now?
We’ve scored some fantastic deals using airfare search engines that let you type in your departure city (or country) and search for cheap flights to virtually any destination in the world . This is perfect if you’re searching for flights without a destination in mind.
Updated in 2022 ! We still prefer Skyscanner and Google Flights to other search engines – keep reading to see why.
Want to get started now? Click here to search on Skyscanner , and be sure to put Everywhere in the destination field to find cheap flights to anywhere in the world .
Using these hacks, we found cheap one way flights from Cancun, Mexico to Madrid, Spain for $160 USD all in. We also just booked a one-way flight from Istanbul, Turkey to Toronto, Canada for just $288, including taxes and fees
That’s less than your average local flight within Canada. These tips will work to find the cheapest flights from NYC to anywhere, or really from any city or country!
Travel tip! If you want to protect your privacy on public Wi-Fi in cafes, airports, and hotels, look into getting a VPN. Using a VPN might be able to help you get cheaper flights , if used correctly.
I also use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to access country-specific websites. As a Canadian, a lot of websites from the USA are blocked in Canada (and elsewhere outside of the USA). To get around this, I use a VPN to “trick” the USA based website into thinking I’m browsing from the USA. With a VPN, I can access these websites just as if I was in the USA.
A VPN can be set up on a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop. It protects your privacy when on public Wi-Fi, and even lets you stream your favorite TV shows from home.

How to find the cheapest flights to anywhere
Sound interesting? In this post, we:
- Tell you how we find cheap flights to anywhere (and no, none of these companies paid us to write this post).
- Review the major flight search engines that allow you to search from a departure city (or country) without including any specific destination. You can use this feature to search cheap flights by date not destination .
Let’s start! Make sure your passport is current, get your visa, and book that flight!
Let’s start with what we think is the best search engine of the bunch for finding cheap flights anywhere: Skyscanner . To find cheap flights to everywhere from your destination, just leave the To field blank in your Skyscanner search (or type Everywhere). This works really well to find last minute cheap flights to anywhere as well!
Click here to search on Skyscanner.
Skyscanner lets you see a month of fares at a time , which can save you a bundle if your dates are flexible. It will also let you see the cheapest month.
To see flights for a whole month, or choose the cheapest month, just click in the Depart box.
Skyscanner Explore also lets you type in a country name in the From box to find cheap airfares from all cities in the country.
Skyscanner map search. This is one of our favorite features on Skyscanner, and it’s a great helping in showing you how to find random cheap flights to anywhere. On the Skyscanner site ( click here to search on Skyscanner) , scroll down and click on the map to see an airfare map with prices and explore cheap flights.
Then just select your departure city or airport and date. You can only select one month at a time for fares, but this flight price map is a great way to see cheap flights to a random destination in the world.
Free Apps: We use the Skyscanner iPhone app a lot as well to find Skyscanner flights to anywhere. The app seems to have almost all of the features of the site, including the ability to search for flights to anywhere, and for a month at a time. It also features a cool interactive cheap flights map that lists prices to cities around the globe. The app is available for iPhone, iPad, on Google Play , and Amazon apps.
The prices listed on Skyscanner are based on previous flight search data. That means when you click the link to search prices, your new search prices may be different from the first prices you saw. When you actually go to book, prices may change as well.
What we don’t like: The prices you see first aren’t always the final price you pay, as they’re pulled from earlier searches by Skyscanner users.
Our take: The best of the bunch. Skyscanner is easy to use, we’ve found that the fares it comes up with are generally accurate, and it even comes as a well designed app. Love it. It also makes a great tool to quickly find cheap alternative routes to your destination, and find cheap flights without a destination in mind.
Kayak Explore
The Kayak Explore tool is made specifically for searching for flights to anywhere. To find flights on Kayak flights to anywhere, type your departure city and select Anytime.
Kayak’s Explore tool lets you search for airfares for different seasons, like spring or winter, making it a great tool for long term planning.
Results show up in a map. You can drag and zoom, making it easy to see airfares to different regions, or even for the entire world at once.
Kayak Explore has some fun search filters that let you see only fights by weather, and by things to do (golf, gambling, and so on). You can even narrow down results by budget. It’s among the best cheap flight finder to anywhere, but it’s not perfect.
Note: The Kayak Explore flight map prices are based on flights found on Kayak in the last 48 hours. When you actually go to book, prices may be different.
Free Apps: Kayak has a free app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. You can use the Kayak Explore map feature by clicking Explore the world on the home screen.
What we don’t like: We’re not keen that the Explore tool only lists round trip fares, making it harder to plan trips with multiple legs. Another thing we don’t love is that Kayak Explore won’t let you see all flights from a specific country. Instead, you’re limited to searching from specific cities.
Our take. Very good. We love the map display of fares, and the fun search options, but don’t like that it only lists round trip fares (Kayak Explore one way doesn’t work), and that it won’t find cheapest flights any date from a specific country.
Google Flights
Google Flights Explore Map is quickly becoming one of our favorite ways to search for affordable flights anywhere in the world.
It’s fast, prices are accurate, but it just doesn’t offer enough functionality for searches to random cheap destinations. The major drawback is that you have to specify a departure date, and you can’t search for cheapest flights for an entire month or year.
It has an annoying feature I wish they’d correct; if you’re in the Explore map, and you happen to have a date in the Return box, you can’t delete it. Instead, you need to go back to the main Google Flights page, and re-enter your search without a return date to see one way flights.
What we like: It’s fast, and prices are among the most accurate of the bunch. There are about a million filters, which can be nice if you’re picky about price, number of stops, or flight duration and the like.
What we don’t like: You need to specify an exact departure date, which is annoying. You also can’t search for airfares from an entire country, which can be nice if your departure city is flexible.
Our take: Not bad. Not quite good enough to move away from Skyscanner as our first choice for finding the cheapest flights today to anywhere, but it’s getting closer.
Escape from MIT
There’s a relative newcomer to the flight search engine landscape called Escape at www.greatescape.co that’s worth a mention. It was developed by the MIT Senseable City Laboratory in Singapore.
It’s a great choice if you’re a visual person, since it displays flight prices on an interactive map. Escape searches searches both Kiwi and Skyscanner for prices.
You can search by your departure city to Anywhere in the world, and then see the prices displayed on a map. You can search by one way or round trip, or by fixed or flexible dates. You can also put in a trip duration from 1 to 31 days.
The flexible dates feature is pretty nice, since you can choose months at a time to search, or just a few days, whichever you prefer.
The main downside to Escape is that you need to put in a specific departure city, making your search a little less flexible.
I tried Escape out, comparing it to Google Flights, and found that in the three tests I ran, Google flights was able to find a cheaper flight. I also had trouble clicking through to get flight details.
Other search engines
We use Skyscanner and sometimes Google Flights almost exclusively to search for flights from a specific destination to anywhere.
That said, there are a few other flight search engines that do a similar job (though not nowhere near as well). We’ve included them here just for the sake of completeness.
Kiwi.com is an unfamiliar name to most. That said, it has a decent map-based search function, and we find it somewhat useful for an “ I’ll go anywhere flight search ” moment. You can select a Departure airport, and select Anywhere in the To: field. You can put in a custom date range, which will let you search a week, month, or really any range of dates. You can also select Anytime to find the cheapest flight on any date. You can search return or one way flights. This is helpful to find cheap flights to anywhere from your city.
Click here to search with Kiwi.com.
The airfares it give generally seem to be accurate, though you’ll almost always find more accurate rates on Google Flights or the airline directly.
What we don’t like: We found the speed of the map display to vary a lot. Some days results appeared to be lightning fast, and some days they were frustratingly slow, despite our Internet speed being consistently fast.
Our take: Not bad. Not quite good enough to move away from Skyscanner or Google Flights.
FareCompare – A Kayak Explore alternative
Like Kayak Explore, FareCompare lets you search for fares to anywhere from a specific departure city.
The problem is that we found FareCompare to be slower, and have less features, than Kayak Explore or Skyscanner.
What we don’t like: We find the FareCompare search to be slow, and don’t love that you can only search from specific cities, as it won’t let you search to, or from, specific countries or regions. Once you select the airfare that interests you, finding that flight can be awkward as it opens a half dozen windows to other popular sites like Expedia.
Our take: Too limited and just another front end to more popular search sites.
Momondo has long been a favorite of travel hackers and bloggers, since it seems to be able to search more budget airlines.
They now have an Anywhere search, but you need to enter a departure date. You can see results in a list, but there aren’t a lot of filters or options. It’s fine, but there’s no reason to choose it over Skyscanner or Google flights.
What we don’t like: The big drawback is that you must give a departure date, meaning you can’t search for the cheapest fare for an entire month or year.
Whichbudget
Whichbudget lets you search for cheap random flights from a city or country to anywhere for the cheapest airfare. It’s fast, and it also lets you search from a good range of international destinations, and was the only search engine that would let us specify Anywhere in the departure field, which is helpful if your departure city or country is flexible, but you know your destination.
What we don’t like: Unfortunately, the results are clunky, the text is hard to read, and you can’t sort the results to show the lowest price first. We didn’t find it user friendly at all.
Our take: It’s ugly too look at, with poor sorting of results, small text and worse than average results. Not our favorite way to search flights by date not destination, or well, any other way.
Airfarewatchdog
Airfarewatchdog is probably the most bare bones of all the search engines that let you find a flight to any destination. It will only let you search from a specific airport (not even a city, but a specific airport), and doesn’t offer many useful filters.
What we don’t like: Limited functionality, and it’s annoying in that it keeps asking for your name and email to sign up and get low price alerts.
Our take: Not bad for basic searches where you have a destination, but not good for finding a flight if you don’t know your final destination. Might be good for email alerts if you want to go to specific place and are just waiting for a good deal.
Back in the day, the Drungli website used to have a Drungli take me wherever search. Sadly, it’s not working anymore, so it just acts like a normal search engine.
To sum it up
Skyscanner and Google Flights Map search, are helpful for getting a general idea of flight costs to different places around the world. If you’re coming up dry with those three, and have a bit of time, then check out the others for cheap flights to any destination.
However, once you’ve used any of them to pick out affordable destinations (and dates), it’s worth it to compare those flights to some of the budget airlines that don’t appear in a lot of search engines. You also need to compare hidden airline surcharges like baggage fees and specialty taxes.
Different airlines charge baggage and seating fees differently and a lot of these search tools don’t always factor those costs in.
Are you ready to say “ fly me anywhere “?

Excellent article. As frugal travelers, we always search for the best price. Even thought some of your above mentioned websites may be better or more versatile than others, to get the best price you always end up checking them all anyhow. Of course versatility in both destination and date will allow you to take advantage of the best deals.
Sometimes it’s also worthwhile to take a train or bus to a different airport to take advantage of the best deals. Worthwhile searching airports within say 100 kms of both your departure and arrival to see if a better deal exists.
I thought I knew all of the hiding places for low fares, but you out did yourselves. Thanks for all of this info!
What do you think of http://www.rome2rio.com/ ?
Great article guys. Skyscanner is my go to but I also find fly.com and momondo.com to occasionally pull out fares that are slightly cheaper. Momondo has a month view similar to Skyscanner which is really useful when you’re flexible with dates. Usually I have all 3 open to make sure I get the cheapest fares. Probably worth mentioning that sites like lastminute.com, travelocity and the like seem to NEVER have the cheapest fares.
I didn’t know you could do that! I’ve been using skyscanner for years and didn’t know about the anywhere option. I’ll have to try this summer!
I do have to admit though, skyscanner used to be better before. I remember the time when I could look at the entire month and see the specific prices for EVERY day of the month.
Nowadays, when I select a whole month to a specific destination, all I get are like 3 or 4 days with prices, while the rest are blank. They say that to see the price, you have to click on a specific date. Crappy! Used to be better…
All in all though, your article is an excellent roundup!
-Maria Alexandra
Great advice guys! I always search through heaps of sites to make sure I get the lowest airfare I possibly can, there are a few sites on here that I didn’t know about before 🙂
I love posts like this. It’s great to hear all the little things that others do when booking flights. I always learn something new. Skyscanner and ITA my favourite search engine to use for flights.
i also love hipmunk. great tips!
I love skyscanner and drungli.com for European flights ;P
I haven’t flown anywhere using these tools yet, but I certainly have spent plenty of time playing with the Skyscanner version. Great fun!
Thanks guys this will save me heaps of time & money!
Great resources guys
Recently, I booked my flight tickets to Austin (TX) from Paris through Darjeelin – flight hackers compete during 24hrs to find you the best price or deal. And they actually did!
Thanks for sharing all the cheap flight websites! I will definitely use one of these resources when traveling via airplane.
Some great ideas here, which not only apply to people looking to do a rtw trip, but also anyone looking to put together their own 1 or 2 week family vacation
Didn’t know about some of these. Thanks for posting them.
Great article. I appreciate the work that went into ranking the different online options.
One thing I would also add would be that sites like Flyertalk have forums where various “Mileage Run” deals are discussed to gain the most miles for the least $, and if your locale happens to fit, it also means a great fare deal.
A lot more reading and research goes into using a site like that, but the forums are chalk full of useful information once you sort through it (though you need time to do so!)
Thanks again,
We’ll keep reading!
Thank’s, i always find cheap flight .
Good tips. Thank you for sharing these resources. Comparison websites are a great place to start if you want to get a good travel deal whether it is flights or accommodation. If you are already travelling then the local low cost airlines are a good place to get cheap flights. If you are travelling in Africa I wrote a post on my personal travel blog about low cost airlines in Africa which I hope you find useful.
These are some pretty cool tips. I’m particularly impressed by Farecompare , but I love using Kayak too.
I also found http://anyonecantravel.com/ SUPER helpful for getting cheap flights using the knowledge of someone in the industry! I thought that might be worth mentioning 🙂
Ha! niceeee. a friend sent me a link to your article because it’s so similar (in his eyes) to my cheap flights guide. Good job there, only thing – you forgot ITA Matrix. It’s a free tool by Google that seriously kicks all the other flight engines in the butt. I do love the Everywhere feature of Skyscanner – it’s a real time saver.
Hey Regev. We’ve been huge fans of ITA Matrix for years and used it well before it was bought out by Google in 2010. The reason it’s not included in this post was that this only lists search engines that would let you fly “anywhere”. ITA Matrix lets you select locations up to 2000 miles from any destination city however that’s only a fraction of the globe at a time.
It is an awesome tool if you have a general idea of where you want to fly to however. Not sure you noticed but it is mentioned at the bottom of the post if only briefly. It’s also featured right at the beginning of our Six Quick Steps to Nailing the Cheapest Flight post.
Your latest post on the subject is helpful as well. Travelers looking for a deal need every tool they can find to lower their cost and stretch their dollar. Thanks for reminding everyone how great ITA Matrix is!
Hi!! Micki Kosman, Thank you so much for sharing this useful things how we can get cheap flight tickets from anywhere.
Great post!! In my personal experience that Kayak Explore is one of the best searching tool for affordable flights to anywhere. The Main thing about it that its refundable. I will recommend it to people who want to book a cheap flights.
Cheap-o-air and seat guru were two great apps that helped me save a fortune on flights..
I use Skyscanner almost exclusively. I’ve never heard of the ITA Matrix, just checked it out and it seemed OK but kind of limiting. Skyscanner still seems to produce cheaper flights. I’ll keep it on my list though, always great to have another tool handy. Learn something new every day!
Looks quite useful. Never used this tool. Actually for Europe trips I stick to the good old low cost companies. But in case you travel to a more distant destination I guess that is the way.
Everybody likes cheap fares thanks for toppings info
I’ve been using skyscanner and liked it a lot,the only problem is the other company it led me to: OPODO ( it was a flight in Europe, France-Norway-France).it appeared very cheap, but the OPODO itself fooled me like a baby and took money from my card twice.it has been already 3 months and they don’t want to give me back my money although I have all the evidence.so I don’t even know what measures should I take-maybe go to the police, because calling,e-mailing and sending letters doesn’t help.
So I just wanted to warn people if somebody happens to fly in Europe, you better be careful by avoiding using OPODO.
And it ould be nice if somebody could post an article about some other not-so-reliable companies
This is what I need. Cheap flights are just what me and my husband are looking for since we are now travelling with our kids, we better have to find ways on how to cut the budget short to enjoy more along the trip from flights to food and hotels. Thanks for sharing this. It’s amazing!
If you are seeking for a cheap plane ticket to a family vacation or a ticket to a foreign country. It is often very difficult to find affordable airfare but thank you for these helpful tips .
Saving in transportation can help us for quality stay and other expenses .
Thanks alot for the useful information!
I love sky scanner but never realised you could leave the to field blank for it to pull up the best deals. Great tip!
Do be careful, as some budget airlines will charge a fee for any changes. Flag carrying airlines like British Airways often release cheap flights months in advance, with cheap international flights becoming available five and a half months before departure. If you’ve always dreamed of flying to New York, Thailand, or Australia, then don’t wait until the last minute to book the trip of a lifetime.
Thanks for so many different recommendations. It seems there a gazillion of resources out there, every week I learn something new!
At least we agree Skyscanner seems to be the most reliable!
Skyscanner is really useful. Thanks man 🙂
This is such a great topic! answered a lot of my questions, my next post is about flights too
I love being able to find a deal on flights! Next year I’ll be using some of these tactics as well!
I am telling everyone about your website!!! I can’t believe the incredible deal I got with you. I couldn’t be happier!!! Thanks again and I will be using you a lot.
I always find the cheapest flights. Thanks
Great tips, i will apply when i am going travel
Thanks! Great article. I have a situation – I entered NY – Anywhere and decided to go to Germany because the fares are low. Now I’m open to returning from any nearby country to NY. How can I do the reverse, Anywhere – NY?
If you select nearby airports and type in Germany it will give you a list of nearby airports. You would then have to try out a few nearby countries to see what they bring back. I don’t think there are many people who would use it as you hoped to but as an avid traveler I would so use that feature! Especially from Europe where all the countries are so close to each other. Good luck!
Thank you for sharing Nice information.
Really awesome knowledge. I understood How can I find cheapest flights
wow really amazing blog. Nice stuff
I really Like this information about the airline industry. This covid has brought great fluctuations in many markets.
Love this blog! This is a savior for those who want to travel but save money at the same time.
It is really great and nice article and. I read this and it is very helpful to us.
Thanks for sharing this practically complete resource for finding flights to anywhere. A couple of “to anywhere” sites not mentioned are Trip.com (very large travel company, great looking website), Skiplagged (smooth interface, finds cheaper hidden city flights), Panflights (allows large departure region or “reverse explore”, has airline filters in explore mode).
Tips for booking flights are common sense. Make sure to get a confirmation number and make copies of all important documents, such as your passport and driver’s license. And last but not least, have fun! Travel is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, and booking a cheap flight can make that happen.

Google Maps is an essential app for every traveller. It’s one of our phones’ most frequently used travel apps. We especially love that you can save cafes, hotels or places you want to visit and mark that spot with selected labels.
We use the ‘heart’ label to add our favourite places to eat, and in the notes section, we add what dish we’d like to eat there.
We like to use the ‘green flag’ label for places we’d like to visit, including attractions and landmarks. There’s a ‘blue bag’ label to pin accommodation options, too. This is handy for saving our hotel or apartment address, and you can customise the label and add notes here, too.

15. Grab (and other ride-sharing apps)
Ride-sharing apps have been a saviour for us as we’ve made our way around the world.
As I understand, Uber was the first ride-sharing app to launch, but now there are many fantastic apps that can make your life so much easier on the road.
Depending on what country or region of the world you plan to travel to, we recommend downloading the ride-sharing apps below.
- Grab – For travel in Southeast Asia.
- Bolt – For travel in Europe, Tunisia (read these 10 Best Tips for Independent Travel in Tunisia ) and other nations in Africa too.
- Uber – For travel in the USA, Canada, Europe & Australia
- FreeNow – Travel in Europe (up to 150+ cities)
- BiTaksi – For travel in Turkey.
And there are many more!
Most ride-sharing apps allow you to add your bank card to your profile to take care of the payment. We like this feature because you don’t need any local currency, and it cancels the chance of getting scammed by a taxi driver. Unfortunately, scams do happen.
Read our post about how to avoid 6 common tourist scams in China .

WhatsApp pairs perfectly with an international eSIM . An easy, reliable and affordable way to help you stay connected with the world.
Stay connected and travel easier out there – choose WhatsApp!

Use the Xe Currency Converter app to instantly check live market rates for every world currency on your Smartphone or device.
That’s 170+ currencies that you can convert on the go. If you need to check the conversion of what 1 USD will give you in AUD, you can get your answer on this app within seconds.
We use this app to quickly check the latest exchange rates, handing over any currency in an exchange office or even to a money changer on the street. We frequently used this during our overland travels across Central & West Africa .
If you’ve ever wondered about what it’s like to travel in this region, here are 17 ESSENTIAL Things to Know Before Travelling to West Africa from our experience.
18. Maps.me
Maps.me app is similar to Google Maps in some ways, but it’s much better for navigating rugged terrains!
Whenever we go hiking, we ensure we’ve got our map downloaded on Maps.me; it rarely lets us down. It does a great job of showing the small trails that Google Maps doesn’t usually pick up.
It covers six continents, making it essential for unexplored or remote spots.
This travel app was handy in Africa, particularly when directing a taxi driver to our nominated address. Maps.me allows you to set up the navigation and press speak on the app, a voice will then guide you in the selected language. You should see the look on the taxi drivers’ faces when we do this; it’s pure amazement.

Anytime & anywhere feature is back!!
UPDATE: you changed it back! Must’ve been doing A/B testing or something and I got in the unlucky group. Back to 5 stars! . Latest update killed off the best part of the app. When you select “explore anywhere/anytime” it gives you a list of prices to several locations, but then no longer brings you to those flights. If I see a $99 flight to Denver for example (after using the anytime/anywhere criteria) I used to be able to click on it and see the exact dates that $99 flight was for & then browse other dates with low prices to that destination. Now, I’m brought to an info page on the city with a button to “find flight deals” and the date is arbitrarily filled in and it’s not even the date with the cheapest prices. Please go back to the previous version! I would honestly use that feature to find my next destination! Just find a cheap flight to someplace I hadn’t been to without having to spend hours browsing and looking for a good deal.
Priceline has better deals unfortunately
Initially I got great deals through this app. That’s how they lure you in. I have used it now for 2 years and I can honestly say this with confidence. The first 2 flights I booked I got great deals! I literally got 2 round trip tickets for $40 each traveling to different locations. That was within months of each other. After that the luck was gone and I have never had such a deal since. It’s been about a year and a half and I have yet to buy another flight using this app. I spend lots of time comparing flights and you can get better deals on Priceline after your 2 “lucky” flights. This app usually has the highest prices compared to any of the others out there. Use for your first 2 flights then delete it!! It’s not worth it. Download Priceline and thank me later!! ;) Also the new version has started linking to third party websites once you get to the dates and flight you want. The third party sites are screechy to say the least. Once you choose the flights you want the price increases and you can’t get back to the original price. This was once a great app but has now lost all cool points. I haven’t used it in a year and a half since I’m finding the best deals on Priceline or going straight to the business site for rental cars. Once you buy your flight through Priceline they will send you codes for better deals on cars/hotels. Thank me later ;)
Developer Response ,
Hi there, thanks for your review. At Skyscanner, we always aim to show you the most comprehensive results we can, so that you can choose the flight that suits you best. We show prices on behalf of travel providers, rather than setting the prices ourselves, and we display the price exactly as it is set on the travel providers page at that time. If you have seen better prices somewhere else, we'd be keen to investigate this further. Feel free to get in touch with the details of your search, and a member of the team will get in touch with you as soon as possible. -Skyscanner Support
Great app, but needs work with some accessibility features for Voiceover users
Great and useful app. It has a lot of different airlines available to you, including Jet Blue, Spirit, Frontier, United, Delta, American, etc. that I've seen so far. I'm not sure if they have Alaska as I haven't looked at enough flights to fully be aware. The things Ive noticed, though, in terms of accessibility are with the calendar, and also with looking at further flight details. The date of departture and arrival get lost a bit, and it's not entirely intuitive when you're trying to sort out what's what. When you're entering in departure and returning dates, the months are labeled, but the actual days are blank buttons. It's doable since you can just count in your head, but it's a little irritating. That said, plenty of other airline apps are way worse with their calendar accessibility. So, that said, this isn't horrible. When you're booking a one way flight, though, Voiceover responds beautifully to the calendar and suddenly reads the numbers and days of the week on the calendar. Bizarre, but I'm not complaining. Just wish it could also be sorted for the round trip calendars.

7 Useful Apps Every Traveler Should Know About
All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.
Technology continues to make travel easier for millions of people around the globe. New apps offer travelers fresh ways to research a destination, connect with fellow globetrotters, communicate with locals, and track their flights. As a full-time digital nomad , I’ve learned the importance of having the right tools at your disposal when on the road.
Over the past few years, I’ve visited dozens of countries, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, and tested countless apps to find the ones that prove to be the most helpful. And while tools like Meetup, Google Maps, Google Translate, currency converters, and vacation rental , airline, and hotel–specific apps are in fact indispensable on most trips, I find that many of the best travel apps are still undiscovered by my fellow travelers.
Below, seven travel apps that make life on the go markedly easier (and more fun), from real-time flight trackers to photo-sharing gems—all of these apps are free, but some have paid pro versions worth considering. Don’t think these apps are only for full-time travelers—they prove useful for every type of traveler, whether you're in a brand-new destination or back for a return visit.
Discover the best apps for travelers:
Apps for flying, apps for exploring, apps for photo sharing.
My favorite app on this list is Flighty, a must-have for any frequent flier . The free version is fantastic, but I recommend splurging for the premium version, which gives you even more useful information and comes at a reasonable cost of $48 per year. The functionality it provides more than justifies the price.
The free version allows you to input all future flights plus past journeys you've taken within the last year. It provides updated information if any schedule changes occur to upcoming flights and allows you to track all the miles you’ve flown in one place.
The other main benefit is that it allows you to share your flight information with friends and family members who are also on Flighty. They will receive real-time updates about your flight without you having to text them. My parents love to make sure I’m safe so they appreciate getting detailed information about my travels—even while I’m in the air.
Flightradar24 is a favorite app among fellow aviation geeks. It lets you track almost any aircraft you see in the air throughout the day or night. You can track your own flight, a friend's flight, or any plane you see in real-time. It shares plenty of cool data, like the altitude, speed, arrival and departure airports and times, and tail number.
There are tons of eSIM apps on the market, but Airalo is probably my favorite, with digital SIM cards available for dozens of countries. I find it to be the most reliable and offers the best data packages. It can be a little pricey, but it is the best option if you’re only taking short trips. Holafly is another eSIM app that offers unlimited data and works well, but I find the app to be much more glitchy than Airalo and would recommend using the desktop version.
This one is for the planner of the group. Wanderlog merges the best of a bunch of different apps into one. Imagine an app that lets you plan a trip with ease: collaborate with friends as if you’re on Google Docs, manage expense tracking like Splitwise, and have a central place for your reservations, checklists, and more. Tripit is a similar travel planner app, so you can download both and get a feel for which interface you like better.
Been allows you to track the countries you’ve visited and make a wish list of places you can’t wait to cross off your travel bucket list . It gives you information like the percentage of the globe you’ve been to and shows you a world map of your trips. It’s always fun to add in a new country whenever I reach my destination.
This app was introduced to me by fellow nomads I met at a cafe in Montevideo, Uruguay . It automatically tracks your route across the world, allowing you to quickly upload pictures throughout your travels that can be viewed by anyone who has access to your profile. It’s an excellent way to share important moments with loved ones without needing to send photos to each person individually. Users can also create easily accessible guides filled with up-to-date information to help you plan your own trip.
Steller is another app that a friend recently introduced me to, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. It uses a combination of AI and user experiences to help you plan trips around the globe. From recommendations of things to see, like the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires or the Royal Palace of Naples, to full guidebooks created by users, you can get inspired, book experiences, and discover hidden gems within this app.

Wow…Seamless
Wow…. where do I start? I am a solo traveler, female. I am a avid island traveler, but with this trip, I was scheduling more “adventures” and a friend of mine told me about anywhere.com and I called and they took care of every single detail they gave me a step-by-step itinerary, the times of all the transfers, & I didn’t have to wait one second on this company! Everyone was where they were supposed to be at when they were supposed to be,they were seamless. I will definitely definitely book my next trip with them. Special shout out to David, who set up everything along with Gemma five star.

Solo Peruvian Adventure
My trip was splendidly crafted and managed by Cesar and team. I love how Cesar was so patient in responding to all my questions (there were many of them!) and always offered genuine suggestions on the places to visit, things to do, etc. The team truly customised the experience per my requirements and I had a ball of a time on my first (solo) visit to Peru! The on-ground execution was also seamlessly managed by Cesar and Jose (in Cusco) and all the accommodations and arrangements were perfect. Definitely recommend this group and certainly coming back for more! :)

Communicative and helpful
Everyone was very communicative and helpful. We had a major delay in our flights and they were available to give me options if we arrived late. Additionally, one of us got sick and we needed to rearrange the last part of our trip. Anywhere was there to help deal with those logistics and make the whole awful situation a little bit better. Also, all of the transportation and hotels that they booked were wonderful. Harold was super responsive and communicative. I was able to get my questions answered in a timely and polite manner. He was a pleasure to work with.

Amazing! Trustworthy, attention to detail, easy and considerate.
I used Anywhere.com to book a holiday in Costa Rica for myself and my two young teen daughters Aug 2024. Yahaira was amazing: helpful, insightful and nothing was too much trouble. She listened to what we wanted and improved upon it. The attention to detail from the company was second to none. I had a call a few days before we left, to run through everything. We stayed in 5 different locations and had a mix of bus, private car and boat travel involved and every handover was on time and every person we dealt with checked all the details meticulously. We always felt well looked after and in safe hands. All the hotels were great, the trips and tours were absolutely amazing. It was a holiday of a lifetime that I had never thought possible to do safely and easily as a single mum travelling with 2 daughters. I have recommended them to all my family and friends. I would 100% use again!!

This was by far our most enjoyable…
This was by far our most enjoyable vacation ever. Anywhere made the arrangements for everything including excursions. Everything went smooth and had no problems. Love\n\n this agency, will definitely use them again!!! Thank you for a great experience. Yahaira made our planning so easy. We changed things several times with no problems. Just told her what we wanted, and she sent us several itineraries til we found the one that suited us. Answered any and all questions we had about traveling to costa rica. Great to talk to someone that's in country to help with your questions. As for our vacation, everything went flawless thanks to yahaira. She had everything set up for us from hotels, car rental, and excursions (with pick up and drop off) . Made the vacation so effortless for us. If your looking to going on vacation to costa rica or anywhere contact yahaira you won't regret it. Best vacation we've ever had !!!!

Perfect Planning…
The planning that Jessica Carvajal did for us was fantastic. She showed consideration for our physical limitations. She planned out the direction of our travels in Costa Rica. The guides, the drivers for transportation and the hotels fit us very well. The whole experience was superior. The tours were chosen with our limitations considered and we enjoyed the tour groups we were placed in. A wonderful birthday gift from my husband and we saw a "Resplendant Quetzal" on my birthday (which I think Jessica planned for us). There is not one word I could say bad about Jessica and her planning.

Harold planned a wonderful vacation - he was full of great suggestions and answered all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. He went out of his way to make sure we had a wonderful experience and was a pleasure to work with. The trip was incredibly well organized and so much fun. Every day was a new adventure at wonderful places. Everything was seamless and we felt very well taken care of. I appreciated that Harold was incredibly responsive both leading up to the trip and while we were there in case we wanted to make any last minute additions. This is our second time using Anywhere Costa Rica to plan a trip and we will definitely use them again. Thank you so much for everything, it was the trip of a lifetime.
Anywhere was liberating to use
Anywhere was liberating to use. I hadn't used a travel agent before, usually making my own plans. My recent trip was coming up soon so I reached out to Anywhere to put a Costa Rica trip together and was truly impressed. Vincente was able to put together a plan that took all our goals into account, mixing big attractions and small ones.

8 Best Apps for Last-minute Flights and Hotels
Download these travel apps so you're prepared for your next last-minute getaway.
If you're feeling spontaneous and want to head out of town for a last-minute getaway, you'll need some help finding affordable airfare and hotel rates on a whim. There's a good chance you won't be in the mood to sit on your laptop and track price trends, either.
So instead of wasting time bouncing between websites, download these tried and true apps to make planning a last-minute vacation easier. These flight- and hotel-booking apps will help get you on the road — and likely save you money, to boot.
Whether you want a flight, hotel room, car rental, or total trip package, Expedia's easy-to-navigate app has thousands of last-minute choices for any destination. Though actual prices are usually around 20 percent cheaper than what's advertised on Expedia's website, it's not unusual to find savings of up to 50 percent.
Download for iOS or Android .
Type in where you want to go, and this app (or its website) offers up the lowest available fares over the next several months. Being flexible about your destination pays off: if you want to skip town this weekend, simply select your dates, and Fareness will display a list of the cheapest airfares to various cities.
Download for iOS .
If you're looking to book a flight tonight or tomorrow, this app from flight tracker Hopper is your go-to helper. The inventory is from major airlines as well as low-cost carriers, and the prices are always favorable. The app even allows you to keep track of flights so you will be alerted when prices go down.
HotelTonight
Snag a discounted hotel room for the same day or up to a week in advance in more than 1,700 cities. Look for properties with special Geo Rates, which target users based on their GPS location. For example, while you're waiting for a flight at the airport, search for a room at your destination — you can sometimes get a better deal than if you wait to book after you've landed.
Download for i OS or Android .
Cruise Finder by iCruise.com
You normally have to book cruises well in advance — sometimes even a year out. But those looking to hop on deck on short notice can use Cruise Finder's Hot Deal feature to find last-minute savings. Go ahead and book that ocean-view room on a three-night cruise in the Bahamas. You'll pay as little as $200 for a departure within the next month or about $500 for next-day travel.
Download it for iOS or Android .
SecretEscapes
This app lists last-minute deals for upscale hotels — sometimes as much as 70 percent off the rates published online — at properties all around the world. Travelers can also use it to book air and hotel vacation packages.
Travelzoo's app not only lists discounts on packages, hotels, cruises, and flights, but also has an extensive range of special offers for restaurants, spas, and activities. For example, on a recent search, we found a deal for business class tickets on round-trip flights to South America starting at $799.
This app is loaded with suggestions for dining, activities, and events, which you can search based on your travel preferences. It also offers savings on hotel rooms that average around 25 percent off rates advertised online.

Frequently asked questions about KAYAK
How do i find travel deals on kayak.
Simply use one of our travel search engines to scan for prices gathered from hundreds of travel sites. KAYAK’s search results pages have loads of filter options to help you find deals, discover exactly what you’re looking for and make booking seamless. Plus, there’s no extra fee from KAYAK.
What makes KAYAK a great travel app?
On the KAYAK app for iOS and Android you’ll find all the great travel offers found on the website and much more. There are special mobile rates and app only deals that allow you to save even more money. Plus, you can get notifications straight to your phone letting you know when prices for your next trip have dropped. But the KAYAK app is much more than just a travel app. Use the Trips function to manage your travel itinerary and get up to date status alerts on flights, check-in changes and to store your boarding pass. Even if you’re in the middle of nowhere on your travels, you can still access your travel notes via Trips, as no internet connection is required.
How can I use KAYAK to manage my travel bookings?
KAYAK Trips creates a travel itinerary for you that will give you flight status alerts, can be shared with friends and more. Simply forward your booking confirmations to [email protected] or use the KAYAK app and sync your email account to keep all your travel plans organized in one app, even if you didn’t book with KAYAK. You can share your holiday plans with friends and family and also check out your travel stats for past vacations, like how far you’ve traveled, your most popular cities and how many times you’ve traveled around the world. Even if you don’t have signal, don’t worry, as you can access Trips to check out your itineraries whilst on the road. Your data is safe and secure with us and you won’t have to re-enter credit card info when booking future trips. If you want to make changes or cancel bookings, then you should contact the travel provider, which is provided on the booking confirmation.
What are KAYAK Price Alerts?
Instead of manually checking back in on the price of your next flight or stay, let KAYAK do the hard work for you with KAYAK Price Alerts. Once you’ve saved your search, our data will determine how the price will rise or fluctuate over the coming days. You’ll then get a push notification letting you know when’s the perfect time to book.
Search flights , hotels , rental cars , travel guides and more with KAYAK. KAYAK searches hundreds of other travel sites at once to get you the information you need to make the right decisions.
The Best Sites and Apps for Finding Last-Minute Travel Deals
Is your suitcase packed yet?!
We've been independently researching and testing products for over 120 years. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Learn more about our review process.
We get it — sometimes you just need to get out of Dodge. Lucky for you, affordable last-minute vacations are easier than ever to book. Whether you're thinking of a weekend close to home, an all-inclusive getaway with the family , or a weeklong solo trip to a place like Belize — named one of the best places to take a trip in 2019 — we have you covered. From hotel-booking apps to flight-booking sites and more, here's how to find extremely cheap last-minute deals.
Last-Minute Flight Deals
Google Flights
Google Flights is a search engine that gathers fares from other travel sites. According to CNET, it bests other travel search sites , due to the fact that it's super speedy (plug in your dates, departure, and arrival destinations, and flights pop up almost instantaneously). If you can be flexible, leave your destination blank and then scroll through the list of cities that pop up to find the cheapest flights for your upcoming dates.
Cheapoair.com
Cheapoair.com is all about discounted flights. Click on its "Last Minute Flights" tab to find the absolute cheapest rates (if you're interested, book it as soon as possible before it goes up!). A recent sweet deal was a roundtrip flight from Philadelphia to Orlando starting at $81 (2 weeks out from departure date). There's also a toll-free number to call to hear about unpublished fares.
Vayama.com focuses on international flights, and there are always good last-minute deals to be found right on the homepage, so you don't have to go clicking around. A recent search saw an American Airlines offer from New York to Casablanca, Morocco, starting at $676 (2 weeks out from departure date). Also, check out its "Trending Deals" section for the most up-to-date offerings.
Last-Minute Hotel Deals
HotelTonight
While this app lets you book up to a week in advance (or 100 days in advance for stays up to 14 nights), it's really geared to last-minute bookings, so if there's a hotel you've had your eye on, this is your chance to stay there at a reduced rate. Deals go live each day at noon, and there are thousands of hotels to choose from, including the Mondrian in Miami. Download for iTunes and Google Play .
Another last-minute hotel-booking app is One:Night, which lists its same-day offers starting at 3 p.m. Though operated by Standard International — the parent company behind Standard Hotels, which are listed already — it also has several other stylish hotels, such as New York's Gramercy Park Hotel and LA's Viceroy L’ermitage Beverly Hills. Download for iTunes and Google Play .
While this last-minute hotel-booking app got its start as a website in England in 1999, it now has access to more than 200,000 properties around the world (but it offers more U.K. hotels than anyone else, including places like London's Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton and the Hilton Edinburgh Carlton in Scotland). Download for iTunes and Google Play .
Last-Minute Travel Booking Site Deals
LastMinuteTravel.com
With a site called LastMinuteTravel , you can expect prime deals for spur-of-the-moment travelers. The site offers deals on everything from flights and hotels to car rentals and packages, so you're sure to find something. A recent search found a four-star Berlin hotel for $96 per night. Other sites to check out include LastMinute.com and GoLastMinute.com .
Priceline.com
Priceline basically offers one-stop shopping: Not only can you book your hotel room, but your flight, rental car, and cruise as well. It still has the "Name Your Own Price" feature for choosing hotels, which offers steep discounts (if you don't mind not knowing where you'll be staying until you book). Its app has app-only hotel deals, including super last-minute deals with its "Tonight Only" feature.
Expedia allows you to save big when you bundle a trip — meaning book your hotel and airfare together — and often has great last-minute prices, but for its most up-to-the-minute offerings, check the Unreal Deals tab. A recent search turned up a 4-night trip to Vegas, with a stay at The Palazzo tower (within the The Venetian), including airfare, from $605 per person (2 weeks out from departure date).
Last-Minute Vacation Package Deals
Gate 1 Travel
Gate 1 Travel has vacation packages to almost every corner of the world. It offers escorted travel packages, as well as independent trips. A recent independent vacation to Milan, featuring airfare, 4 nights of accommodations, and daily breakfast was going for $769 a month out. While there are always good deals on the site, you can also check its "Last Minute" section for the latest offerings.
CheapCaribbean.com
Who doesn't want to save money on a tropical getaway to the Caribbean or Mexico, perhaps places like Aruba and Cancun ? Find all the latest affordable last-minute deals under CheapCaribbean's "Nice Packages" tab — a recent offering for an all-inclusive resort on Mexico's Riviera Maya for 3 nights, including airfare, was going for $599 (down from $1,229) 2 weeks out.
Last-Minute Cruise Deals
CruiseCompete.com
If cruises are your thing — or even if you are a first-timer — you can get quotes from multiple travel agencies to get awesome last-minute deals through CruiseCompete.com . Check its Super Cruise Specials, where a recent deal included a 7-night Mediterranean cruise from Miami, starting at $445 (one month out). You can also get special deals, such as two-for-one cruises and select sailings where kids cruise free.
Under Cruise.com's Last Minute Cruises section (in the Cruise Deals section), you'll find lots of discounted sailings, including a 4-day Western Caribbean cruise from $279 per person departing from Miami, less than a week out. There was also a 4-day Bahamas cruise for $378 per person a month out.

What travelers are raving about
Over 1 million people have already tried Wanderlog and loved its easy trip planning features.
Planning your trip by having all the attractions already plugged into a map makes trip planning so much easier.
I have used several trip planning apps. This one by far is the best. The interaction between goggle maps makes the planning so much easier. Adding an adventure not in the app is also easy. Love the connection to Trip Advisor also. Everything is connected including booking a stay. Easy to use on phone, tablets and computer! Well thought through development.
I'm a rather extensive planner when I take trips so this was great. I liked how it auto-filled all of my travel information from my email account.
This is everything I needed in a trip-planning app. Everything is in one place - lodging, restaurants, destinations. I can put notes to write out little schedule details like when I plan to put my son down for a nap. Each destination you set up automatically puts in a link to that place's website, their hours of operation, travel distance from you place of lodging and more. The app is easy to use and so so helpful.
So much easier to visualize and plan a road trip to my favourite rock climbing destinations and explore the area around.
I absolutely love this app!!! I would recommend to anyone who is seriously planning a trip. It will take you through there entire process with ease and all the features you would ever need. The pro version has some features that would be nice to have, especially during the trip itself, but none of it is absolutely necessary. My only criticism is of the pro payment options. You can only buy an annual subscription, and no monthly options exist. Even a 3 month/semi annual sub would be nice.
It left me speechless that I can add places to my trip and they get automatically populated with a featured pic and description from the web.
I’ve been dreaming of a tool like this for years and finally it’s here! Wanderlog is my new go-to tool after decades of professional travel.
I really like how user friendly it is and the auto-save. I also enjoy being able to look at trips that others have planned for inspiration.
Absolutely love this app! It is so helpful when planning my trips. I especially love The optimize route option. When I have all my information in place like my starting point and my ending point it is fabulous! I found it was worth it for me to buy the subscription to the app to use this feature. I especially love how it will suggest things to do if you don't have any plans. I do wish it had a biking option for travel between points of interest. But other than that I love the app!
Very intuitive and simple while still providing a bunch of features, like photos on the destinations, descriptions and suggestions for nearby places to visit.
Yesterday I walked my kids through the vacation timeline that I've built so far and their excitement levels went way up!

Travel credit FAQs
How do i redeem my travel credits.
Shop for your flight as you normally would. Once you get to checkout, all unused travel credits that are connected to your MileagePlus account will automatically appear once you select “Travel Credits” as a payment option. All you have to do is select the checkbox next to the credit and it will automatically be applied to your reservation.
If you don’t see one of your travel credits listed, or don’t have a MileagePlus account, you can also look up your credit directly from checkout and apply it to your cart.
Can anyone use my credits?
Who can actually use a travel credit varies based on credit type.
Future flight credits Normally, a future flight credit is non-transferrable and therefore must be used by the same traveler it was issued to. However, all future flight credits that were issued for tickets purchased on or before August 31, 2021, can now be used to book travel for anyone, including yourself, friends, or family. If you have trouble using a future flight credit, please contact Reservations at 1-800-864-8331.
Travel certificates These credits can be used by anyone.
What can I use my travel credits for?
To use travel credits with PlusPoints, you’ll need to book your ticket using your travel credit and then request a PlusPoints upgrade.
When will my travel credits expire?
In most cases, travel credits expire one year after the date they were issued. The expiration date will be listed on the credit itself. What that date means for you differs based on what type of credit you have.
If you have a future flight credit , it’s a "travel by" date. This means your trip must begin before the expiration date listed on your credit.
If you have a travel certificate , it’s a "book by" date. This means you must book your flight before the expiration date.
Return trips booked with travel credits are subject to the rules for that ticket type. In general, return trips should be booked within one year of your trip’s start.
Credits set to expire or issued on or before December 31, 2022 have had their “book by” or “travel by” date extended to December 31, 2023.
Where do I find my travel credit info?
MileagePlus members can find a summary of their travel credits in their account. If you aren’t a member or can’t find your credit in your account, you can also use the lookup forms provided on this page to find your travel credit information, including the value and expiration date.
Where can I find my travel credit confirmation number or PIN?
You can find this information in one of two places depending on the type of credit you have.
Future flight credits These credits use the confirmation number connected to the original ticket your future flight credit was issued for. You can find this number in the ticket receipts in your MileagePlus account.
Travel certificates These credits use a PIN, which was issued to you via email when your travel certificate was originally sent to you. If you no longer have this number, you can still search for your credit information via email by entering it in the search form above.
Can I use multiple travel credits?
Yes, you can use multiple credits of the same type in a single purchase. Future flight credits and travel certificates cannot be combined.
Can I use PlusPoints on a flight purchased with travel credits?
You can request an upgrade until check-in is closed for your flight. This can be anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes before takeoff, depending on the flight and whether or not you’re checking bags. What if I have a travel credit issued for a flight originally booked through a travel agency? You can still use your credit, but you’ll need to do it through the travel agency you used to book the original flight.

Lebanon Travel Advisory
Travel advisory september 28, 2024, lebanon - level 4: do not travel.
Updated to reflect the ordered departure of non-mission-employed eligible family members (EFMs) and authorized departure for mission-employed EFMs and non-essential U.S. direct hire (USDH) employees.
On September 28 the Department of State ordered the departure of non-mission-employed EFMs and authorized departure for mission-employed EFMs and non-essential USDH employees due to the volatile and unpredictable security situation in Beirut. U.S. Embassy Beirut personnel are restricted from personal travel without advance permission. Additional travel restrictions may be imposed on U.S. personnel under Chief of Mission security responsibility, with little to no notice due to increased security issues or threats.
Due to the increased volatility following airstrikes within Beirut and the volatile and unpredictable security situation throughout Lebanon, the U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to depart Lebanon while commercial options still remain available. At this time, commercial flights are available, but at reduced capacity. If the security situation worsens, commercial options to depart may become unavailable. Please check flight options at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport . The U.S. Embassy may not be able to assist U.S. citizens who choose to remain in Lebanon.
If you choose to remain in Lebanon, be prepared to shelter in place should the situation deteriorate further. The U.S. Embassy strongly encourages U.S. citizens in Southern Lebanon, near the borders with Syria, and/or in refugee settlements to depart those areas immediately.
Do Not Travel to Lebanon due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, unexploded landmines, and the risk of armed conflict . Some areas, especially near the borders, have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory.
Country Summary : U.S. citizens who remain in Lebanon should be aware of the risks and review their personal security plans.
U.S. citizens in Lebanon should be aware that consular officers from the U.S. Embassy are not always able to travel to assist them. The Department of State considers the threat to U.S. government personnel in Beirut serious enough to require them to live and work under strict security. The internal security policies of the U.S. Embassy may be adjusted at any time and without advance notice.
Since October 8, 2023, cross-border exchanges of fire have occurred between Hizballah and Israel; in some instances, including targets well north of the border region. On September 17-18, communications devices exploded in locations throughout Lebanon, including Beirut, killing dozens and injuring thousands. On September 20, a targeted strike hit the southern suburbs of Beirut. Following Israel’s airstrikes on September 27 and 28 in Beirut’s southern suburbs, Lebanon’s security environment has become even more volatile and unpredictable.
The Lebanese government cannot guarantee the safety of U.S. citizens against sudden outbreaks of violence and armed conflict. Family, neighborhood, or sectarian disputes can escalate quickly and can lead to gunfire or other violence with no warning.
Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Lebanon. Terrorists may conduct attacks with little or no warning targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, and local government facilities.
Local security authorities have noted a rise in violent crimes, including political violence. Multiple unsolved killings in Lebanon may have been politically motivated.
Kidnapping, whether for ransom, political motives, or family disputes, has occurred in Lebanon. Suspects in kidnappings may have ties to terrorist or criminal organizations.
Unexploded landmines and explosive remnants of war are a hazard along the border with Syria. Heed land mine warning signs. Do not venture off the road into areas marked off with red and white plastic tape. Avoid roadside ditches, shoulders, and unmarked trails. Never touch anything resembling unexploded munitions.
U.S. citizens should avoid demonstrations and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings or protests as these have the potential to turn violent quickly and with little notice. Protesters have blocked major roads, including thoroughfares between downtown Beirut and the area where the U.S. Embassy is located, and between Beirut and Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Border with Syria – Level 4: Do Not Travel, Depart If You Are There
The U.S. Embassy strongly urges U.S. citizens to avoid the Lebanon-Syria border and to depart if you are there. This area has seen clashes between Lebanese security forces and Syrian-based violent extremist groups. The U.S. Department of State also warns U.S. citizens of the risk of traveling on flights that fly over Syria, which include some flights to and from Beirut.
Refugee Settlements – Level 4: Do Not Travel, Depart If You Are There
