Theater | theater review: backyard’s ‘beauty queen’ play a dark and engrossing journey, the 1996 irish play by martin mcdonagh will leave you guessing to the end.

journeys queens

The 1996 Irish play was last staged professionally in San Diego — at least in my recollection — in 2001 at San Diego Repertory Theatre. It has returned this summer in a new production by Backyard Renaissance Theatre at the Tenth Avenue Arts Center in East Village.

In recent years, Backyard — and its artistic director, Frances Gercke — have made spooky dramas and black comedies their specialty, and McDonagh’s dark and violent play is a perfect fit for that skill set.

Set in a small village in Ireland’s Connemara region in 1995, the play is about 40-year-old Maureen Folan, the never-married reluctant caregiver of her needy 70-year-old mother, Mag. They live together, mostly unhappily, until Mag’s teenage love interest, Pato Dooley, returns to the village on a brief visit from England and they rekindle the old flame.

Maureen dreams of leaving Mag to start a new life with Pato, but Mag secretly sabotages her plans. Is Mag doing what’s best for herself or for her mentally troubled daughter? All is not what it seems in this very twisty, eerie and deeply unsettling play.

Everything about the Backyard production is excellent, from Gercke’s nail-bitingly tense direction, to the fine four-member cast, to Curtis Mueller’s gorgeous lighting and Tony Cucuzzella’s elaborately detailed Irish cottage set. Dialect coach Grace Delaney has also done fine work training the actors in authentic Western Ireland accents.

MJ Sieber, left, and Jessica John in Backyard Renaissance Theatre's "The Beauty Queen of Leenane." (Daren Scott)

Headlining the cast are Jessica John as Maureen and Deborah Gilmour Smyth as Mag. They first teamed up onstage as a battling daughter and mother in Backyard’s 2023 production of “August: Osage County” and their re-teaming this year is even more explosive. John’s understated Maureen is a lion disguised as a lamb, and Smyth’s fragile Mag has a wild-eyed, gleeful wickedness as she delights in her schemes.

MJ Sieber is gentle, endearing and sincere as Pato, the soft-spoken beau, who describes Maureen as the town’s “beauty queen.” And Nick Daughtery is the play’s very welcome comic relief as Pato’s goofy younger cousin, Ray Dooley.

The production also features sound by Logan Kirkendall and costumes by Jessica John Gercke (she acts under the last name John but designs under the name John Gercke).

To say any more about “The Beauty Queen of Leenane” would spoil its many surprises. But this is a very good play done very well by Backyard Renaissance and it’s definitely a must-see for summer.

GoFundMe set up for teen killed in Queens crash: ‘Journey towards healing’

NEW YORK (PIX11) – The family of a teenager who tragically lost her life in a crash on the last day of school in Queens Wednesday has set up a GoFundMe to help with the immediate expenses.

The teen, identified as 16-year-old Jael Zhinin , was walking with her 8-year-old sister when a truck driver traveling on 47th Avenue had a green light to make a left on 46th Street and then hit siblings who were crossing the street, police said.

More Local News

The oldest sister, Jael, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her younger sister, Leslie, was rushed to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition, authorities said.

“Your contribution will directly support Jael’s family with funeral expenses and assist in Leslie’s ongoing medical care and recovery,” the GoFundMe page said. “Together, we can provide crucial support and comfort to Jael’s family as they navigate this heartbreaking loss and aid Leslie in her journey towards healing. Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and solidarity during this challenging time.”

Police said the driver, a man who has not been identified, was taken into custody on Wednesday and released on Thursday.

So far, more than 200 people have donated to the GoFundMe campaign .

5 best cards for Mud Pit arena of Goblin Queen's Journey in Clash Royale

T he Mud Pit arena is the second battleground in the Goblin Queen's Journey, which starts with 1000 trophies. It unlocks the Goblin Curse spell, which is one of the strongest cards in the game mode. Players who reach the Mud Pit arena must choose powerful troops and spells to make the best 8-card arena deck.

Goblin Queen's Journey was recently released by Clash Royale developer Supercell in the June 2024 season. It involves using Goblin troops and spells to activate the Baby Goblin's ability of Queen's Tower. Players can choose any unlocked card in their deck, but should prefer using Goblin cards as they will help activate Baby Goblins multiple times in battle.

In this article, we will explore five of the best cards for the Mud Pit arena in Clash Royale.

Note: This article is subjective and reflects the writer's views

Best cards for Mud Pit arena in Clash Royale

Elixir cost: 5

Damage per second: 167 (level 15)

Hit points: 3029 (level 15)

Bowler is one of the strongest cards to use in the Mud Pit arena, thanks to its chain damage ability. It is an epic card that can be unlocked after reaching the Rascal's Hideout arena. Unlike the other chain ability cards, it boasts high hit points and damage.

Bowler is an area-damaging and ground-targeting troop that can be used against the enemy's counterattacks. His rock not only damages multiple troops but pushes them back as well.

Players should try using Bowler with air attacking low elixir cards like Minions and Musketeers. Using him along with a tank is another way of reaching close to the enemy's crown tower and dealing a good amount of damage.

2) Goblin Giant

Elixir cost: 6

Damage per second: 170 (level 15)

Hit points: 4706 (level 15)

Once players reach Clash Royale's Jungle Arena, they can unlock the Goblin Giant card. He is an epic category ground troop that targets buildings and is an essential card for the Mud Pit arena.

His damage and hit points are exceptionally high, so players should use him both as a defender and attacker according to the situation. The two Spear Goblins that Goblin Giant carries on his back deal extra damage to enemy troops and towers. They inflict 70 damage per second and have 193 hit points.

Goblin Giant is best used as a tank by players with other low-elixir attacking cards such as Musketeer, Spear Goblins, Goblin Demolisher, and Knight. Use Arrows and Log to defend Goblin Giant from opposing low-elixir army swarms.

3) Goblin Curse Spell

Elixir cost: 2

Damage per second: 198 (level 15)

Goblin Curse spell is one of the strongest cards in Clash Royale that players can unlock after reaching the Mud Pit arena. It is an epic category spell that turns all the destroyed troops in the spell radius into Goblins.

These Goblins have 293 hit points and deal a damage per second of 159 at level 15. It can be used both offensively and defensively, but players should employ it against army swarms like Skeleton Army, Bats, and Goblin Gang.

The Goblin Curse spell deals a lot of damage, so players should use it along with defending troops during the enemy's counterattacks. It should be not used against buildings and defenses.

4) Goblin Cage

Elixir cost: 4

Hit points: 1137 (level 15)

Goblin Cage is a must-have card in the Mud Pit arena decks because it prevents building targeted troops like Hog Rider and Goblin Giant from attacking towers. It is a rare category-building card that can be obtained once players reach the game's Goblin Stadium arena.

It draws all building-targeted cards to itself and, when broken, summons a powerful Goblin Brawler: a strong troop with high hitpoints and damage. It can deal up to 446 damage per second and has 1575 hitpoints.

A Goblin Brawler, when coupled with Goblin Gang or Knights, can easily defeat the Giant and other tanks in the game. Players should use spells like Goblin Curse and Arrows to defend Goblin Cage from the enemy's army swarms.

Elixir cost: 3

Damage: 534 (level 15)

The Goblin Queen's Journey game mode requires players to add multiple spells in their battle decks. These spells are highly effective against Goblin swarms in the Mud Pit arena like Goblin Barrel, Goblin Gang, and Spear Goblins. Arrows is a common category spell capable of attacking both air and ground troops.

Players can unlock it after completing the in-game training. The spell should be used instantly with Goblin Barrel to protect the Goblins from the counterattacks.

The final journey London to Windsor, follow the route to the Queen's resting place

By Ivana Kottasová, Lauren Said-Moorhouse and the Visuals Team, CNN

A kingdom united in grief will mourn the loss of their revered Queen on Monday. Pomp and pageantry will be on display as tens of thousands line the streets of the British capital and hundreds of millions tune in for the state funeral of Elizabeth II.

Monday’s ceremonial events are the culmination of nearly two weeks of public arrangements, codenamed “Operation London Bridge,” honoring Elizabeth’s remarkable life -- from a young princess who was not born to be Queen, to a sovereign who redefined the role and won almost universal admiration.

Following the Queen’s death at Balmoral on September 8, her coffin was flown back from Scotland and moved to London’s Westminster Hall in a somber procession. She will lie in state there until the morning of her funeral.

Crowds of mourners will flood the capital in the hopes of witnessing the coffin -- draped in the Royal Standard and carrying the Instruments of State -- one last time before the Queen makes the journey to her final resting place within St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. Here’s everything you need to know about Britain’s farewell to one its greatest ever monarchs.

Monday, September 19 The day of the funeral and the final journey to Windsor

Westminster Hall At around 10:35 a.m. (5:35 a.m. ET), the coffin will be lifted from the catafalque. A bearer party founded by the Queen's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards will carry it from Westminster Hall to the State Gun Carriage of the Royal Navy. The gun carriage will set off at 10:44 a.m. (5:44 a.m. ET) on the short journey from New Palace Yard to Westminster Abbey, where the funeral service will take place. The route will be lined by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. King Charles III and members of the royal family will walk behind the coffin.

Westminster Abbey The service will be conducted by the Dean of Westminster, starting at 11 a.m. (6 a.m. ET). The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will deliver a sermon. Towards the end of the service, at around 11:55 a.m., the Last Post will sound before a two-minute silence is observed. World leaders, politicians, public figures and European royals, as well as more than 500 dignitaries from around the world, will be at the service, which will be attended by up to 2,000 people.

Procession through London Following the roughly one-hour service, the coffin will be conveyed from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch -- again with the King leading some of the family on foot, while Camilla, the Queen Consort and others follow by car.

Whitehall The route -- lined by the Armed Forces -- will pass Parliament Square and go onto Whitehall, the street that cuts through London’s government district. It will pass the Cenotaph, the site of the annual National Service of Remembrance, which the Queen personally attended most years, and Downing Street.

Horse Guards Parade The procession moves through Horse Guards Parade, the setting for the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony held to mark the monarch’s official birthday. Here, the King’s Life Guard will turn out and give a royal salute as the coffin passes.

The Mall On The Mall, the royal procession will pass by royal residences Clarence House and St James's Palace.

Buckingham Palace As the coffin moves past Queen Victoria Memorial for the last time, the King’s Guard will turn out in the forecourt and give a royal salute.

Wellington Arch The procession is expected at Wellington Arch around 1 p.m. (8 a.m. ET), where the bearer party will transfer it from the State Gun Carriage to the state hearse for the journey to Windsor.

Windsor The Queen’s coffin will be driven to Windsor, around 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of the capital. Windsor Castle is where the Queen lived for the last two years of her life.

The Long Walk Once in Windsor, the state hearse will be driven just after 3 p.m. (10 a.m. ET) along The Long Walk, a picturesque avenue leading to the castle where thousands will be waiting to bid the Queen farewell as she passes.

Windsor Castle The King and other royals will join the procession on foot as it passes through the castle’s quadrangle at around 3:40 p.m. (10:40 a.m. ET). Minute guns will be fired by the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery from the East Lawn throughout the royal cortege.

Click below for a 360 view inside the grounds of Windsor Castle

St George’s Chapel The Queen’s coffin will be greeted by an honor guard founded by the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards mounted in Horseshoe Cloister at the foot of the West Steps of St. George’s Chapel. Soldiers from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment will line the steps as the bearer party carries the coffin inside for the committal service.

A more intimate committal service will take place at St. George’s Chapel at about 4 p.m. (11 a.m. ET), conducted by the Dean of Windsor. The royal family will gather there along with a congregation made up of members of the Royal Household, past and present, as well as personal staff who have worked on the private estates.

St. George’s should be a familiar location to many as it is where Prince Philip's funeral service was held last April, as well as more jubilant occasions like the nuptials of the Queen's grandchildren.

At the service's conclusion, the Queen's coffin will be lowered into the Royal Vault, set below the chapel, where many royal family members have been laid to rest.

The service concludes the public arrangements for the late monarch, however, a private burial service will be held for the family later Monday evening. The Queen is to be buried with her late husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, located elsewhere within St. George's.

The memorial chapel is where the Queen's father and mother were interred. A casket containing the ashes of the Queen's sister, Princess Margaret, is also there.

The Earl Marshal, the Duke of Norfolk, said last week that orchestrating the event was "both humbling and daunting.” He added that Monday’s event aimed to "unite people across the globe" and "pay a fitting tribute to an extraordinary reign.”

Getting Around Queens

Most of the neighborhoods in Queens typically visited by tourists, like Astoria and Long Island City , are very walkable. This is one of the best ways to get around as it’s free and allows you to feel the beat of the borough!

Love cycling? Citi Bike stations are all over Queens, and offer a budget-friendly way to get around in an eco-friendly fashion that also allows you to see the sights.

In terms of public transportation, the best way to get around Queens is via subway, which gets you anywhere you may need to go for just $2.75 — no need to wait in traffic.

Additionally, Queens (and the rest of NYC) is connected via other public transportation options like buses and even ferries. While buses are operated by the MTA, just like the subway, you’ll want to download the NYC Ferry app to see schedules and buy tickets for the ferry.

Prefer a private car service? Uber and Lyft are plentiful in Queens, though do note that cabs tend to be much cheaper. You can hail a cab on many main streets, which is typically your cheapest option, or use an app like Arro or Curb to order one.

Driving? It’s much easier to find parking in Queens than it is in Manhattan, though you can always use the SpotHero website and app to snag super discounted parking spots. This is especially recommended if you end up driving into Manhattan, where finding parking is a nightmare.

Queens Travel Insurance

When visiting Queens — or anywhere else in the world — make sure to get travel insurance to protect your health and safety.

In my opinion, the best travel medical insurance for travelers is SafetyWing as they’ve got a large network and offer both short-term and long-term coverage — including coverage if you’re traveling for months as well as limited coverage in your home country).

Additionally, SafetyWing is budget-friendly and offers $250,000 worth of coverage with just one low overall deductible of $250.

With coverage, you’ll have peace of mind as you embark on your Queens travel itinerary.

Queens Travel Guide FAQ

Below, find answers to frequently asked questions about traveling in Queens in NYC .

Q: What are some fun facts about Queens?

Queens has a fascinating history. Here are some interesting facts you may not know about Queens:

1. The borough of Queens was actually named after a Queen. It got its name in honor of Queen Catherine of Braganza, the wife of King Charles II in England.

2. Steinway pianos have been produced in Astoria, Queens since 1853.

3. Both of New York City’s major airports, LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, are located in Queens.

4. The first European settlers in Queens were the Dutch, who colonized the area now known as Flushing. Speaking of Flushing, the neighborhood got its name from its former Dutch name “Vlissingen” which was shortened to “Vlishing” and eventually anglicized to “Flushing.”

Queens contains 91 distinct neighborhoods, the most of any borough! With limited time, it’s impossible to visit them all, but these are some of the top neighborhoods to check out.

It has more of a family-friendly neighborhood feel and is also full of great restaurants and bars, like the Bohemian Hall beer garden. Along the waterfront, Astoria Park also offers Manhattan views and is a popular spot to hang out.

Bordering Brooklyn’s trendy Bushwick neighborhood, Ridgewood is a cool neighborhood in Queens that is home to over 30 breweries.

The Best Queens One Day Itinerary for First Time Visitors

We enjoyed spending one day in  Queens , the vibrant borough of New York City. Along with Brooklyn , this is one area that is seldom visited by tourists. This is a huge pity because Queens is a diverse district famous for its ethnic enclaves of Indians, Colombians, Mexicans, Chinese, and more! Consequently, it has an  awesome food scene with diverse cuisines . We also saw many iconic attractions such as the Unisphere, New York State Pavilion and Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Based on our own experience in Queens, we have created a one day itinerary which will be useful for tourists visiting the first time. Also read:  9 Awesome Things to do in Queens!

After lunch, we began our exploration of the famous Jackson Heights neighbourhood! It was truly an interesting cultural experience to explore this diverse and colourful district. We came across the vibrant Little India area that had a tidy sprawl of sari shops, gold shops, and Indian eateries. After walking for a while, we turned a corner and were intrigued to find ourselves suddenly in a manicured middle class estate lined with elegant garden apartments. We walked through the estate and turned another corner to find the landscape completely changed again: this time we had reached a Latin American and Mexican enclave. This was definitely an interesting neighbourhood! For more details, you can check out our detailed  walking guide for Jackson Heights .

After that, we walked back to the 69 St-Fisk Av Station and took the 7 train for seven stops to Mets-Willets Point Station. After exiting the station, we walked along an outdoor passage for about five minutes to reach the beautiful  Flushing Meadows Corona Park . The total journey took about 15 minutes including walking time. This popular public park is a favourite for Queens locals, and is also known as “Flushing Meadows Park” or “Flushing Meadows”. This park was created to host the 1939/1940 New York World’s Fair, and was also the site for the 1964/1965 New York World’s Fair. It was nice to stroll along the park path that was lined with lush trees on both sides.

After walking for a while, we saw the famous Unisphere , a colossal structure that was built for the 1964/1965 World’s Fair. I knew it was big from pictures, but seeing it in person I was blown away by how huge it actually was.

We also saw the  USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center  near the Unisphere. This is the venue of the prestigious US Open Tennis Grand Slam! We took some photos of the stadium with our camera and drone. The stadium was not open for an inner guided tour during our visit. You can click here to see the  National Tennis Center guided tour dates .

The park is home to the impressive  New York State Pavilion , which was constructed to host the 1964 New York World’s Fair. The fair attracted more than 51 million visitors! However, it fell into disuse after that and we could sadly tell that the New York State Pavilion was in a bad state of neglect.

There were many other attractions in the large park which we did not visit, such as the Citi Field (home of the New York Mets baseball team), the Queens Theatre, the Queens Zoo, the New York Hall of Science and the Queens Museum of Art.

journeys queens

After looking through many stalls, we decided to have dinner at  Xi’an Famous Foods , a well-known Chinese restaurant chain in New York. This small eatery offers authentic Xi’an food such as the “biang biang” noodles, liangpi “cold skin” noodles, lamb pao mo soup, and more. We saw in one of the pictures that even Anthony Bourdain had came here before. We had the  Mount Qi Pork Hand-ripped Noodles ($8) , which is essentially chunks of pork meat served with the signature “biang biang” noodles and doused in spicy sauce. The pork was tender and juicy, and the noodles were bouncy and chewy with great texture. And it tasted wonderful with the feisty spicy sauce!

Itinerary Summary

Also, our suggested walking guide for Jackson Heights may take up quite a bit of your time, so you can choose not to walk the entire route.

However, if you can afford the time, you can simply visit all the Queens attractions over two days instead! That would definitely be less rushed than our one day itinerary above.

And finally, I would highly recommend using the subway to explore Queens. We found it easy to visit many of the tourist attractions using the 7 Train . And that’s it! We hope you will enjoy exploring the vibrant Queens borough as much as we did.

OUR TWO RIVER BANKS

We have set for ourselves two main objectives as a church, we call them our “Riverbanks.”

Riverbanks help direct a flow of water to its end destination and, more importantly, ensure that the river does not become stagnant or worse a swamp.

To Know Jesus

Matthew 22:37-40 (ESV)

37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

This translates to how we relate to each other, and all that we do in our local church, from Sunday corporate gatherings to prayer meetings and J Kidz or any of our leadership training and equipping courses. We want to know Jesus Christ in an ever deeper, ever growing way!

To Make Him Known

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Making Christ known guides all that we do in our community and around the world. It’s about how we relate to each other, our families, our neighborhood, city, region, and nation.

It’s about multiplying across Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Queens and even the world. Our strategy is about ‘going’, not ‘attracting’. We want to be a healthy local church that is active in our community for Christ. We want to stay mobile, flexible and relational.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Because we all come from many different backgrounds and cultures and our share of experiences, you might want to discuss the following with one of our elders for further clarity. We encourage questions, so ask away!

We establish all of our doctrine explicitly and exclusively from the Bible.  We regard the following doctrines as essential, though there are many non-essential doctrines on which we have a perspective (also derived from Biblical conviction). Non-essential doctrines are important but not crucial to a believer’s walk with God. Therefore, we will not allow non-essential doctrines to take priority over those doctrines we see as explicit and essential.

During the 16th century, some 500 years ago, Jesus intervened in the life of the church. The church had moved away from truth and needed correction. Jesus brought that correction in the form of the Reformation.

During the Reformation, there were five areas of emphasis that emerged with great significance. It is from these same five Latin phrases that we get our foundational statement of faith.

journeys queens

SOLA SCRIPTURA

The Bible alone is the sole authority for all matters of faith and practice. Scripture and Scripture alone is the standard by which all teachings and traditions of the church must be measured.

journeys queens

SOLA GRATIA

Through grace alone are we saved. Salvation is proof of God’s undeserved favor; we are rescued from God’s wrath by His grace alone, not by any work we do. God loves us just the way we are, not as we should be!

journeys queens

By faith alone do we receive God’s salvation and all of God’s promises. We have faith in Jesus, believing that He is God’s son, who died for our sins. We are declared righteous by God (justified) on the basis of our faith alone and not by works.

journeys queens

SOLA CHRISTUS

Jesus is the Lord and Savior of the church. No one and nothing else can save. Jesus’ substitutionary death on the cross is sufficient for our justification and reconciliation to God the Father.

journeys queens

SOLA DEO GLORIA

To God alone is praise and glory due. Salvation is of God and has been accomplished by God for His glory alone. As Christians, we must magnify Him always and live our lives in His presence, under His authority, and for His glory.

What we Believe

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

The Trinity

There is one God, the Creator of all things, who is eternally self-existent – one God but in three persons. This doctrine is a mystery but is nevertheless true. We believe in God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity has different functions. Each shares every divine attribute and is equal in power and authority.

God the Father

God the Father is holy and perfect. He is all-powerful, always good, always faithful and ever reaching out to us with the good news of His grace through His Son Jesus Christ, through whom He offers us redemption and eternal relationship. He is the perfect Father who is never changing in His love, compassion and grace for us. He is always longing for humanity to be restored to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, His Son.

God the Son (JESUS CHRIST)

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary. He is fully “true man” and fully “true God.” He is the only one who can reconcile us to God the Father. He lived a perfect sinless life and was crucified on the cross, where He paid the price for our sins and our shame – the very things that separated us from God. He died for us, was buried and was resurrected so that we may have eternal life. He is the Head of the Church and in all this He has preeminence. He is now seated at the right hand of the Father where He rules and reigns as the King of kings and the Lord of lords who will soon return to make all things new. Jesus opened the way for man to live eternally in God.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit – God Himself – lives in every Christian from the moment they put their faith in Jesus. He guides us into all truth and reveals to us God’s righteousness and convicts us of our sin. He assures us of our salvation, comforts us, guides us and sanctifies us. The church, from the beginning, was birthed in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and of His power. His presence and power, manifest in numerous ways including signs, miracles and wonders. His Power is available and needed just as much now as it was at the birth of the church. We also believe that the Holy Spirit empowers Christians through dispensing numerous gifts to continue the work of Jesus in this world, which in the Bible is called “The Kingdom.”

Relationships Matter to US

Relationships take the priority – not performance, skill or giftings. We see fellowship as a core value established by God in his Church from the beginning (Acts 2:42 | John 15:13).

We believe that all Christians, once they put their faith in Jesus, should be baptized in water (full immersion) as a statement to themselves, their community and even Satan that they are now “within Christ” and therefore no longer “in sin.”

Participating not Spectating

In line with “relationships matter to us” (above), no believer in Jesus should live as an island but ought to be integrated into a local church and fulfill the ministry God has given them there.

Truth Before Tradition

What we see in the Scriptures always supersedes any tradition. Our theology fashions our behaviour, not the other way around. (2 Timothy 2:15)

God has established that local elders should lead a local church – not a headquarters, an arch-bishop, the state or any other kind of authority figure.

Our relationship with other churches, organizations and denominations does not override this Biblical value as we are not in a denomination of any kind.
