Aerosmith Announce ‘Peace Out’ Farewell Tour With Support From The Black Crowes

Aerosmith have just revealed an extensive North American farewell tour that will take the classic hard rock act through the rest of the year and into 2024. They teased it last week.  The Black Crowes will support them on the tour. General on-sale begins May 5. Longtime Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer , who's recently been absent from the band , won't be playing.

The announcement comes months after Aerosmith canceled the  final dates  of their multi-year " Deuces Are Wild " concert residency in Las Vegas due to Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler 's health. In a statement at the time, the performer was said to feel " unwell ."

Now, the band's getting back on the road…for the last time. See a video trailer below.

In a joint statement, Aerosmith shared, "It's not goodbye, it's PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives."

They added regarding Kramer, "While Joey remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey's unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Aerosmith will be touring a city near you for the last time to celebrate the rock band’s 50-plus years together.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band announced Monday the dates for their farewell tour called “Peace Out” starting Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. The 40-date run of shows, which includes a stop in the band’s hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve, will end Jan. 26 in Montreal.

“I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Perry said the group, with frontman Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford, learned from the staging and production from their recent Las Vegas residency shows.

Perry believes the time to say goodbye is now, especially with every founding band member over the age of 70. Tyler, 75, is the oldest in the group.

“It’s kind of a chance to celebrate the 50 years we’ve been out here,” Perry said. “You never know how much longer everybody’s going to be healthy to do this. … It’s been a while since we’ve actually done a real tour. We did that run in Vegas, which was great. It was fun, but (we’re) kind of anxious to get back on the road.“

Tyler and Perry said the band is looking forward to digging into their lengthy catalog of the group’s rock classics including “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Livin’ on the Edge.”

Over the years, Aerosmith, which formed in 1970, has collected four Grammys. The band broke boundaries intersecting rock and hip-hop with their epic collaboration with Run-DMC for “Walk This Way.”

Aerosmith performed the Super Bowl halftime show in 2001 and even had their own theme park attraction in 1999 at Disney World in Florida and later in Paris with the launch of the “Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith” ride.

“We’re opening up Pandora’s Box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out tour,” Tyler said in a statement to the AP. His “Pandora’s Box” reference calls out Aerosmith’s 1991 three-disc compilation album that covered the band’s output from the 1970s to the early 1980s.

“Be there or beware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready,” Tyler added.

The band said Kramer decided to not take part in the current dates on the upcoming tour. He’s still a part of the group, but the drummer has been on leave to “focus his attention on his family and health” since their Vegas residency last year. Drummer John Douglas will continue to play in his place.

Perry called Kramer their brother. The band said his “legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

Before the 40-date tour wraps, Perry said other cities domestically and internationally could be added.

“It’s the final farewell tour, but I have a feeling it will go on for a while,” he said. “But I don’t know how many times we’ll be coming back to the same cities. It could very possibly be the last time.”

Tickets for the Nov. 22 show in Salt Lake City go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

The Rock Revival

The band was forced to postpone all shows after frontman Steven Tyler suffered a fractured larynx

After previously postponing the the bulk of their final run last year, Aerosmith have confirmed their rescheduled Peace Out Tour dates. While the tour kicked off last fall to rave reviews and praise from fans, frontman Steven Tyler sustained a fractured larynx during the band’s performance at UBS Arena on September 9, 2023, just three shows into the band’s 40-date grand finale. As it turns out, Tyler’s recovery has taken longer than expected.

“To our fans: unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the band said in a statement at the time. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care. He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.”

“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” Steven Tyler said. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Now, Aerosmith have announced the new round of dates. The Peace Out trek resumes on September 20 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they already played at the start of the original run. The group will also be returning for an encore at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where the tour kicked off last year (check out highlights from the show in the clip below). A third addition to the trek will be a performance at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on February 11, 2025. The band will wrap up the 40-date trek on February 26, 2025, taking their final bows at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The Black Crowes , who just released their new album Happiness Bastards last month, are still serving as special guests for the entire tour. Opening night in Pittsburgh will feature a special performance by Teddy Swims to kick off the evening, stepping in for The Black Crowes.

Check out the full tour itinerary below.

All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the rescheduled shows. Ticketholders will receive more information via email today [April 10]. Refunds will be available at point of purchase for fans who are unable to attend the new dates. Fans are encouraged to reach out to Live Nation/Ticketmaster, or the third party entities (e.g. StubHub, Vivid Seats, etc.) with any questions regarding refunds. Tickets for the rescheduled dates and newly added shows are on sale this Friday, April 12 at 10am local time. The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include a premium reserved ticket, limited edition merchandise and more.

While the band has been touring for over five decades, there’s still plenty of tracks that haven’t seen the lights of a stage yet. At the third stop of the Peace Out Tour at UBS Arena in New York, Aerosmith played a Draw the Line rarity, “Bright Light Fright , “ for the first time in 29 years. Guitarist Joe Perry handled the vocal duties. When the tour resumes in September, there’s still a tone of tunes that the band has never broken out of the their vault. Maybe when the Peace Out Tour resumes, the band will surprise fans with a song or two from this list of tracks that they have never played live.

“We’re going to open up Pandora’s box one last time to present our fans with the Peace Out Tour,” Tyler said when the trek was announced, referencing the band’s 1991 compilation box set. “Be there or be aware as we bring all the toys out of the attic. Get ready!”

Drummer Joey Kramer decided not to take part in the band’s final tour initially. While he is still considered part of the group, Kramer took a leave of absence from the band’s Vegas residency last year to “focus his his attention on his family and health” and will continue to sit out the band’s final run.” Drummer John Douglas filled in for Kramer during the the first three dates of the original Peace Out Tour, and it appears that he will continue to sit behind the kit this fall with the run resumes.

When the original trek was announced, Aerosmith stated, “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey’s unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers wrapped up their landmark Deuces Are Wild Residency in Las Vegas back in 2022, and played a special 50th anniversary show at Fenway Park. Now, fans are finally getting to witness the celebrations for themselves.

Aerosmith have 12 multi-platinum certified albums under their belt. To date, the band has garnered four GRAMMY® Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. In 1999, Walt Disney World launched the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, the band’s very own theme park attraction. In 2001, they performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Throughout a career that spans over five decades, the rock ‘n’ roll legends have sold over 150 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling American rock act of all time. Their music has transcended generations, and while they’ve been selling records since 1973, they band has just achieved a monumental modern-day milestone.

While vinyl and CDs have seen a tremendous resurgence over the last ten years, streaming has become monstrous manner by which people consume music. Since the launch of Spotify back in 2006, many artists have amassed hundreds of thousands of streams, and some hundreds of millions. Few, however, have achieved the rare achievement that Aerosmith just did – having a single song surpass 1 billion streams.

One of the band’s biggest hits, “Dream On,” has amassed 1,001,249,355 streams on Spotify. It’s a testament not only to the band’s legacy, but to their ability to achieve success in a new age and remain relevant right up to their farewell tour. The fact that “Dream On” is one of the greatest songs ever written makes this milestone a little bit less surprising.

After inking a deal with Columbia Records, Aerosmith released their self-titled debut album on January 5, 1973. Anchored by the lead single, “Dream On,” the album hit No. 21 on the Billboard 200. The seminal “Dream On” hit No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and dominated rock radio stations around the country.

“The music for ‘Dream On was originally written on a Steinway upright piano in the living room of Trow-Rico lodge in Sunapee [New Hampshire], maybe four years before Aerosmith even started,” frontman Steven Tyler recalls in the Aerosmith biography, Walk This Way , by Stephen Davis. “I was seventeen or eighteen […] It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything […] It’s about dreaming until your dreams come true.”

Last month, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash released a cover of Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor , ” the lead single from his upcoming blues covers album,  Orgy of the Damned . The track features AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on vocals, and Steven Tyler on harmonica. The record arrives on May 17 through Gibson Records.

The band also announced in March celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the seminal sophomore outing,  Get Your Wings (1974). To commemorate the milestone, Aerosmith to releasing a limited edition LP numbered 1-1974 on 180g custom color “gold sparkle” vinyl, featuring an embossed gold foil jacket, a 70’s-era logo sticker and a vintage ad replica inside. Each copy is uniquely numbered with gold foil and encased in black poly-lined sleeves, preserving the quality and sound of this iconic album. Includes the classics “Same Old Song And Dance,” “Train Kept A Rollin’,” “Lord Of The Thighs,” “Seasons of Wither” and more. All new merchandise is available for pre-order now, releasing on May 17.

Aerosmith’s  Get Your Wings  is certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. It marked the band’s first collaboration with producer Jack Douglas, who went on to produce the group’s next three iconic albums. Douglas was instrumental in shaping the sound that would define America’s greatest rock band for decades to come. Recorded at Record Plant studios in New York City, Aerosmith launched a tour supporting the album on March 9, 1974 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston, Massachusetts. The 74-show trek across the United States put Aerosmith on the map.

About Aerosmith

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million albums around the world, produced genre-defining music videos such as “Amazing,” “Crazy,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,”  “Livin’ On The Edge,” and “Love In An Elevator,” and launched extravagant record-shattering global tours, most recently with their smash hit Las Vegas residency. The band has broken numerous boundaries, including becoming the first rock band with a massive commercially successful hip-hop collaboration with Run DMC on “Walk This Way”  and the first hard rock band to appear during a Super Bowl Halftime Show with their 2001 performance, and in  1999, Aerosmith became the first band to have their own themed attraction at Disney World in Florida and later  Paris with the launch of the Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster starring Aerosmith. For more information, visit Aerosmith.com.

About The Black Crowes

In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts,  Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker.  Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis

Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best  New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist  Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other  words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do

Stuck waiting on a refund, Aerosmith fan decides to Get Gephardt

By matt gephardt and cimaron neugebauer, ksl-tv | posted - jan. 18, 2024 at 11:07 a.m., mike allred talks to ksl's matt gephardt in sandy. when the salt lake city stop of aerosmith’s “peace out” tour was postponed, allred and his wife struggled to get a refund on their tickets. (ksl-tv).

Estimated read time: 2-3 minutes

SANDY – If you're offered a refund, you'd expect to be able to get it.

When a Sandy couple says they were left "Livin' On The Edge" waiting to get their money back for a postponed concert, they decided it was time to Get Gephardt.

Mike Allred said he's been a fan of Aerosmith for nearly half a century.

"Well, shoot dude, I had all of Aerosmith's 8-track tapes when I was 16 years old in 1975, you know?" he said. So last May, when he and his wife heard Aerosmith's "Peace Out" farewell tour was coming to the Delta Center in November, they decided it was time to get "Back in the Saddle Again."

"We thought this would be our last window to see Steven Tyler and Aerosmith," Mike Allred said.

They bought two tickets for about $400 through Ticketmaster.

But alas, in September, Aerosmith told fans its singer had a vocal cord injury, which meant a postponement of all future tour dates, including the one in Salt Lake City.

In an email, Ticketmaster told the Allreds they could hang on to the tickets for whenever the show gets rescheduled, or they could click a link to get a refund.

"Who wants to buy a ticket when they don't know when the show would be?" Mike Allred asked. They decided to get a refund, but that's when they hit a snag.

"When you click on the 'request refund' and it doesn't do anything," Melissa Allred said.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aerosmith (@aerosmith)

They said the link just took them to the Ticketmaster website.

The Allreds say they emailed and messaged Ticketmaster trying to get that refund. But after four months of getting nowhere, they decided to call me.

"It's become so long now I feel like it's not right," Mike Allred said. "I feel like a large corporation is taking advantage of a lot of people."

The KSL Investigators reached out to Ticketmaster on the Allreds' behalf, not through customer service but through its public relations team.

In an email, a spokesman for Ticketmaster wrote that they're "not sure what the miscommunication was" but that "the fan has received their refund."

Sure enough, that very same day, Mike Allred got a grip on his refund.

As we have reported before, ticket refunds are not guaranteed when a show is postponed, or even canceled. As we saw during the pandemic, shows all over the country were postponed or canceled, and some fans never got their money back.

It often comes down to the fine print on a ticket seller's website.

As for the "Peace Out" tour, we reached out to Live Nation Concerts for an update. They referred us to the band's announcement in September, which states "All the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed until sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more."

Aerosmith announced that they would be postponing their tour on Friday, Sept. 29 with a statement on Instagram , citing frontman Steven Tyler 's recovery from a newly discovered fractured larynx. The news came just two weeks after the  "Dream On" group announced  that the frontman “sustained vocal cord damage” and that they would need to reschedule six of their September concerts.

Aerosmith's current lineup of original members  Brad Whitford ,  Joe Perry , Tom Hamilton and Tyler, as well as new drummer John Douglas, opened up about the singer’s condition in a post dedicated to their fans.

“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought,” the band wrote. “His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care.”

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers added, “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”

Tyler, 76, also said he was“heartbroken” by the change of plans for the group and their openers, The Black Crowes.

He added, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”

Aerosmith announces rescheduled dates for farewell tour

April 10 (UPI) -- Aerosmith will resume its Peace Out farewell tour in September.

The rock band announced rescheduled dates for the tour on Wednesday after previously postponing shows due to frontman Steven Tyler's vocal injury.

The Peace Out tour will pick up Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh and run through Feb. 26, 2025, in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Black Crowes will appear as a special guest.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. Additional tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time.

Aerosmith originally kicked off the tour in September 2023. The band announced later that month that it would reschedule the remainder of its 2023 tour dates to allow Tyler time to recover.

"To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven's vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care," the group said at the time.

"He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential."

Aerosmith was formed in Boston in 1970 and has since released 15 albums.
