Aer Lingus Covid Rules

What is aer lingus doing to ensure safe traveling during covid-19.

Traveling during Covid-19 is a new experience for everyone. Thus, Aer Lingus put in one place all the Covid-19-related information you need , so you can plan and prepare for your journey with ease and fly with peace of mind and confidence:

  • Digital travel support tools.
  • New safety measures.
  • Useful travel tips.
  • Flexible flights.

Digital Travel Support Tools

Aer Lingus is committed to using technology to improve your travel experience. When preparing to travel, take advantage of the new digital support tools that Aer Lingus puts at your disposal.

You can find the latest travel and health restrictions for your destination with the new interactive search tool . Powered by Sherpa, the interactive tool provides clear and tailored information on restrictions, entry requirements, documentation needed, types of COVID tests accepted, etc., from multiple official sources and based on your specific circumstances , including vaccination status, return travel, and flight connection requirements.

Aer Lingus has partnered with VeriFLY, the travel pass app that allows you to upload and have your Covid-19-related travel documents checked and verified before you fly . Aer Lingus is now using the app on most of its routes , including flights to/from Europe, from the UK to Ireland, between the UK and Barbados, and to/from the USA. When traveling to the USA, passengers can check in online only after their Covid-19-related documentation has been verified through the VeriFLY app . Using VeriFLY to get pre-approved for travel helps make travel as stress-free as possible while enabling you to efficiently comply with all the international Covid-19-related travel requirements.

As evidence of a negative COVID-19 test is required before entering many countries, Aer Lingus offers, in partnership with Randox Health, discounted testing kits for Aer Lingus customers flying from Britain . When flying from Ireland, you can find a list of PCR testing facilities in Ireland .

New Safety Measures

With the safety and wellbeing of passengers as its number one priority and in light of COVID-19, Aer Lingus introduced new measures to maintain high standards of health and safety .

Throughout the airport, measures to ensure physical distancing and reduce contact have been implemented from check-in to security. Protective screens and hand hygiene stations have been installed, and all Aer Lingus staff are wearing face masks.

Wearing a face mask is now mandatory for all passengers unless you cannot do so for medical reasons , in which case you must present a medical certificate confirming this. Also exempt from this requirement are young children who are not able to maintain a face covering.

On all aircraft,  Aer Lingus introduced an enhanced cleaning system . Daily, the interior of every aircraft is thoroughly disinfected. Hospital-grade disinfectant is used to spray-treat all seat coverings, floors, and overhead lockers . All hard surfaces and touchpoints are deep cleaned daily by hand including, tray tables, armrests, overhead bins, windows, toilets, etc. Long-haul aircraft are cleaned for 15 staff hours before each flight. Short-haul aircraft are cleaned for five staff hours every night.

All aircraft are fitted with state-of-the-art HEPA air filtration technology , the same as that used in operating theatres in hospitals. 99.97% of airborne particles such as viruses, including COVID-19, and bacteria are removed. Cabin air is replaced every 3 minutes . Essentially, the aircraft air supply is sterile and particle-free.

Useful Travel Tips

Flying is going to look a little different for a while, and there are certain things you can do to reduce physical contact and support physical distancing. Aer Lingus’ travel checklist is a guide to help prepare for your journey :

  • Check in online and download a mobile boarding pass or print your boarding pass.
  • Use self-service kiosks to check in your bags and bag drop facilities where available.
  • Allow extra time for boarding as you’ll board in small groups by seat row number (priority boarding is no longer available).
  • Have your boarding pass ready to scan yourself, and show your passport or ID to the boarding staff.
  • Onboard your flight, browse the Bia menu online for in-flight food and drink purchases onboard (there are no printed menus onboard).
  • Bring your debit/credit card as in-flight shopping is available exclusively through contactless payments.
  • On arrival, you should remain in your seat and follow the new procedures for disembarkation.

Flexible Flights

Because it knows how important flexibility is for you, Aer Lingus extended its “Book with Confidence” policy, making booking more flexible than ever:

  • Free, unlimited changes. Up until 30 September 2022, you can change your flight up to 7 days before departure for free on any route and any fare type as often as you need.
  • Guaranteed voucher . With all fares except the Economy Saver fare , you can get a voucher if you decide not to travel and apply for a voucher at least 14 days in advance .
  • Cash refund . If you choose the Business or Economy Advantage or Flex fare , you can get a cash refund if you decide not to travel and apply for a cash refund online .

Aer Lingus announces new measures for the safety of Customers and Staff

Fionn Davenport

Aer Lingus has outlined the measures it is introducing at airports and on-board its aircraft to protect the health of its customers and staff. These measures apply to those travelling on the limited number of services currently operating, and they will apply to all Aer Lingus services once business and leisure flying resumes.

Face coverings or masks are mandatory on all Aer Lingus flights for customers and cabin crew respectively, with the exception of small children and those who are unable to wear a face mask for medical reasons. The face coverings can be in the form of a reusable cloth mask or a disposable mask and it is recommended that these are worn from the time passengers enter the departure airport to the time they leave their destination airport.

Aer Lingus is introducing significantly enhanced cleaning processes and procedures on all aircraft. Hospital grade disinfectant will be used to treat all hard surfaces. Tray tables, arm rests and windows will be deep cleaned by hand and the interior of every aircraft will be thoroughly disinfected daily.

All Aer Lingus Airbus aircraft are fitted with state-of-the-art air filtration technology as standard. These are the same air filters that are used in hospital operating theatres.  99.97% of airborne particles such as viruses and bacteria are removed by this air filtering technology and cabin air is fully replaced every three minutes.

Aer Lingus is introducing new boarding and disembarkation procedures.  Passengers will board and disembark the aircraft in small groups and according to seat row numbers. At the boarding gate, customers will scan their own boarding card and show their passport or ID to the Aer Lingus staff, making this process contactless.

Airports are implementing new procedures to support physical distancing and reduce contact. Passengers will see the use of protective screens, hand sanitisation stations and airport staff that have close contact with passengers wearing face masks. Passengers will be reminded of the importance of good hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and limiting contact with surfaces as they move through airports.

Aer Lingus will be asking customers to make sure they are fit to fly, and requesting that intending passengers who are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms should not travel to the airport. Aer Lingus will be encouraging everyone to check in on-line, to check in their luggage and use self-service kiosks where available to minimise contact.  Inflight services including food and drink have been suspended on short haul services, while a reduced service is available on long haul, with contactless payment for any purchases. There will also be reduced passenger movement in the cabin.

Speaking about the new measures, Peter O’Neill, Chief Operations Officer, Aer Lingus, said:

“The safety and well-being of our customers and staff has always been our central priority. In recent weeks, teams across Aer Lingus have been working tirelessly to develop new processes and procedures informed by international guidance. Our operations teams are introducing these new measures, from implementing additional cleaning and disinfecting, to adopting new procedures at check in, boarding and on board each flight.  Coupled with the adoption of new procedures by airports and the mandatory use of face coverings on board our aircraft, it is clear that flying is going to be different for the next while. We want to reassure our customers that when the time comes and we are travelling once again, Aer Lingus will be ready to take you to your chosen destination, as safely as possible.”

I am a female. I read a lot of posts about safe and I read you are a Moscow resident. I am worried about how to get a taxi from train station to go to Air hotel near Domodedovo Airport. I will sleap there because my flight to Brazil is at 6 a.m., so I have to go to airport at about 4 a.m. I read that there are women's taxi driver, how can I identify them. Finally, I also read that Russians don't speak English either identify our alphabet. How can I arrive at airport in safe? Kind regards.

Just a suggestion...you may want to start a new post with your specific topic...it is somewhat "hidden" in this one...

Also, assuming I got the right one, check this link...it sounds like they have a free shuttle you can get to and from the airport...

Aer Lingus says new aircraft set to be delayed after pay talks break down

Carrier had been in negotiations with pilots’ union in recent weeks.

Aer Lingus said talks aimed at resolving its pay row by the end of this month 'concluded without agreement'

Aer Lingus says it is “unlikely” to receive the first of several new aircraft due to the airline after talks on a pilot pay dispute ended in deadlock.

Members of the Irish Airline Pilot’s Association (Ialpa) are seeking pay increases of more than 20 per cent to bring earnings in line with inflation and salaries paid by other carriers. Aer Lingus said on Wednesday that talks aimed at resolving the row by the end of this month “concluded without agreement”.

The carrier acknowledged that it was “unlikely” that it would receive the first of six new Airbus jets that it was due to receive from parent International Airlines Group (IAG), as a consequence.

“Aer Lingus now looks forward to the pay dispute being heard by the Labour Court on April 22nd,” said a statement.

The airline opened direct talks with the union ahead of the scheduled Labour Court hearing as it hoped to get a resolution before April 28th, when IAG had to make a final decision on which of its carriers would get the new Airbus. That aircraft is due to begin flying in September.

Ialpa confirmed to members on Wednesday that it and Aer Lingus had agreed to end talks and go to the Labour Court. The union noted that Aer Lingus had told representatives that it was not in a position to increase basic pay above the 8.5 per cent offered by an internal company tribunal, which pilots rejected in January.

Ialpa said that it had submitted a “comprehensive brief” to the Labour Court and was preparing for Monday. The union is not commenting publicly.

The union maintains that its demands are meant to bring pay into line with inflation, going rates for pilots in Europe and to compensate members for the fact that they have not had a pay rise since 2019.

Ialpa calculates that it is seeking amounts to an effective 24 per cent rise, but Aer Lingus says it is closer to 27 per cent.

Aer Lingus also points out that it committed to new flexibility on summer leave with pilots in 2019.

Luis Gallego, chief executive of IAG, warned that the group would stall expansion of Aer Lingus until the dispute was resolved. He indicated that new aircraft originally earmarked for the Irish carrier could go the group’s other subsidiaries, which include British Airways, Iberia and Vueling.

Aer Lingus said earlier this month that the six new Airbus jets it is due to receive would create 80 extra pilots’ jobs. Ialpa maintains that its supports growth but not at the expense of its members’ pay and working conditions.
