Take a Virtual Stroll through Disneyland Paris on Google Maps

Do you ever find yourself thinking, “if I had some free time I’d visit Disneyland Paris?” Well you don’t need more than an hour or two as the park now offers a virtual tour.

Hop on Google maps and use your mouse (how fitting right?) to travel through Disneyland Paris, doing 360 degree spins to take it all in.

Stroll down their version of Main Street, U.S.A., then choose which way to go from there. I went left and strolled through Frontierland which contains Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor, among other highlights.

Plus as you stroll, keep an eye our for Mickey Mouse and his many friends who are waiting for you to discover them. In fact, half the fun for me as I traveled the park was seeing who I would discover.

And the best part is you don’t even need to buy a ticket for this visit!

So if you have a few hours, and want to check out Disneyland Paris, head over to bit.ly/3lxnQnh (which takes you to Google Maps with the coordinates already filled in).

After you check it out, come back and let me know what you think of this feature.

Virtual Tour of Disneyland Paris… In the Snow!

At last! We were about to enter Disneyland Paris for the very first time. We stepped out of the super-secret Castle Club elevator , got our paper tickets scanned by the gate cast member and then… we were IN!!!

It’s not a feeling you get to experience very often. Can you even remember your first visit to Disneyland or Magic Kingdom? Well, I didn’t need to remember this visit because Patrick was shooting E V E R Y T H I N G—especially Main Street—so thoroughly that Google could create a street view just from his photos.

Join me now on this virtual tour of Disneyland Paris….

What do you suppose Patrick’s first shot inside the gate was? The majestic Main Street Station? The special 25th anniversary light-up sign with Tinkerbell and the Fab Four? Nope, it was…

…A TREE!!!

virtual tour eurodisney

Granted, it is a pretty gorgeous tree covered in magical snow….

Instead of a huge planter that forces you to enter on one side or the other, Disneyland Paris’ “foyer” has three tunnels that go straight under Main Street Station to Main Street, U.S.A.

virtual tour eurodisney

I love Tink’s snow hat in this shot! Very Doctor Zhivago …

virtual tour eurodisney

Say… Isn’t that the  yellow safety cone from Westminster Abbey? I think we’re being STALKED!

virtual tour eurodisney

According to Alain Littaye and Didier Ghez’s  Disneyland Paris: From Sketch to Reality , the Imagineers were worried that Europeans would have no familiarity with or nostalgia for the types of Main Streets found at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, so they considered setting this one in the 1920s. They referenced European interest in America of the ’20s, with its jazz and movies, and wanted to have an elevated train down one side of the street, a Circle-Vision theater dressed as a grand movie palace, and even a speakeasy. Everything was going to be Art Deco, with big flashy billboards lining the streets.

Then cooler heads prevailed/got scared and they went back to the original idea of Main Street, asking Herb Ryman to conceive for them the “spirit of Main Street.” Littaye and Ghez write, “The essence of Main Street, the Imagineers discovered, was tranquility, but with an awareness and welcoming attitude for the approaching world of progress, dynamism, optimism and new ideas. This was the spirit prevalent in the United States at the turn of the century—a new economic boom that nothing was going to stop.” The Imagineers decided that people anywhere in the world could appreciate that kind of excitement. So what Paris got was very similar to the American versions of Main Street, U.S.A. but more intricately detailed because—as we had already learned on this trip—everything in Europe is way more detailed than its American counterpart.

Looking back toward Main Street Station….

virtual tour eurodisney

Wait, wasn’t that safety cone just in front of us…?

virtual tour eurodisney

A-HA! Yellow Safety Cone IS following us!

virtual tour eurodisney

To the left as you enter is City Hall, nice and familiar…

virtual tour eurodisney

The adjacent Storybook Store is pretty amazing on the inside. More on that later….

virtual tour eurodisney

To the right as you enter is the Main Street Transportation Co., where the trolleys go in and out. The blue building on the right of it is where you rent strollers and wheelchairs.

virtual tour eurodisney

This shot was taken standing with the Main Street Transportation Co. on your right, facing the wraparound portion of the right side of Main Street. In California, the parades exit to the right of that lamp post.

virtual tour eurodisney

This is the left side of the mouth of Main Street—pretty familiar to Magic Kingdom regulars.

virtual tour eurodisney

I’ll bet you know where you are now!

virtual tour eurodisney

Forget the snow hat—now Tink’s got a whole snow cape!

virtual tour eurodisney

I love that Paris’ Main Street has both its side streets intact, with no store or restaurant occupying what was intended to be an open space.

virtual tour eurodisney

THAT is how much snow they got at Disneyland Paris!

virtual tour eurodisney

If this were an American park, the IP lawyers would have already demolished this snowmouse for being off-model!

virtual tour eurodisney

Facing the opposite direction, toward the other side street, which is between the end of the Emporium and Walt’s — An American Restaurant.

virtual tour eurodisney

Didn’t think we were going to turn around so fast, did ya, Yellow Safety Cone?

virtual tour eurodisney

Uh, yeah, we can still see you back there, Yellow Safety Cone…

Now we’re back on Main Street, heading toward the castle but taking lots of photos of what’s on our right!

virtual tour eurodisney

Yellow Safety Cone, whistling: “Just waitin’ fer the parade…. Yep! Definitely not stalking anybody…”

Wow—the parade at Disneyland Paris sure is weird!

virtual tour eurodisney

Mickey, are you in there?

virtual tour eurodisney

OK, maybe Yellow Safety Cone really did just want to see the parade—looks like he’s headed for the exit…

virtual tour eurodisney

I’m still kicking myself for not going in the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and enjoying some Ben & Jerry’s inside a Disney park for the first time. It was closed for the rest of our trip. Actually, it might have been closed then too but just had the doors unlocked. I’m going to tell myself it was closed then too…

virtual tour eurodisney

If this were Maine, there’d be a line of eager ice cream buyers out the door on a day like this!

virtual tour eurodisney

Patrick didn’t take a lot of shots of the opposite side of the street because so much of it was behind construction tarps. But here’s a section between Walt’s and Casey’s Corner…

virtual tour eurodisney

And here’s the smaller entrance to Casey’s. This cast member helpful stepped alllllmost out of the shot for me so I could document the sign for my brother, Casey. It is a well-known fact that people LOVE being texted photos of random things with their names on them!

virtual tour eurodisney

Enjoy al fresco dining adjacent to Casey’s Corner…. just bring a scarf! And a change of pants!

virtual tour eurodisney

We never figured out what this building was, but looking at this photo, wouldn’t you want to LIVE there?!

virtual tour eurodisney

I mean, THIS would be your view!!!

virtual tour eurodisney

… And this…

virtual tour eurodisney

GAH!!! It was a fake-out—Yellow Safety Cone is BACK!!!

…And this…

virtual tour eurodisney

… And this (trust me, these are all different pictures—I promise)!

virtual tour eurodisney

Yellow Safety Cone: “I’ve mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still that I’ve become invisible to the eye. I am sure I’m invisible.”

You’ll always be able to tell which shots in this report are from my phone cuz I’m the one standing there mashing all the photo filter buttons shouting, “More color! MORE COLOR, I say!!!”

virtual tour eurodisney

This hill is pure genius! It makes what is already arguably the most photogenic Disney castle in the world even MORE photogenic.

virtual tour eurodisney

Sorry… Patrick got distracted by a shrub for a second…

… Back to the castle!

virtual tour eurodisney

The castle is like a magnet, always drawing your eye. You’ll spy something you’ve never seen before—the astonishingly incongruous sight of a Moorish gate and desert palms all covered in snow….

virtual tour eurodisney

… but the next thing you know, you’re staring at the castle again!

virtual tour eurodisney

There’s something quite Seuss-ian about these snow-covered plants!

virtual tour eurodisney

All three weather vanes agree: It’s snowy out!

virtual tour eurodisney

Disneyland Paris’ Adventureland is just to the left of the castle, where Frontierland is at Disneyland and Liberty Square is in the Magic Kingdom. We decided to bypass it for the moment and continue back toward Frontierland, which is where Adventureland is at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom.

virtual tour eurodisney

…Aaaaaand CASTLE!

virtual tour eurodisney

This section is particularly magical in the snow because it’s something you might actually have seen in the past of real life.

virtual tour eurodisney

I love the way the Frontierland sign looks in the snow!

virtual tour eurodisney

One thing I was particularly enchanted by were all the snowy creeks and ponds and rivers in the park, and I spent most of the trip tossing rocks into them to try and break the ice.

virtual tour eurodisney

Disneyland Paris’ Fort Comstock is cool because there’s stuff to see in the windows. (Even when Disneyland’s Tom Sawyer Island fort was still open, it was all just empty rooms.) I think Patrick got some shots through a window later in our trip.

virtual tour eurodisney

Frontierland was closed for business. I’d just barely gotten over the fact that Phantom Manor—the only ride I was really interested in—would be closed as part of its 9-month renovation, but we were nonplussed to discover Big Thunder, the Molly Brown river boat and all the restaurants were closed too.

virtual tour eurodisney

In my haste to get this shot, my feet slipped right out from under me and I landed on my caboose in the snow for the first time since I was, like, 9! It was so ridiculous, I just burst out laughing.

virtual tour eurodisney

Looking in the opposite direction, toward the Devil’s Ice Patch…

virtual tour eurodisney

Not only was Big Thunder closed, it appeared to be giving us The Finger!

virtual tour eurodisney

“Ha ha haaaaaa, suckers! No rides for you!”

virtual tour eurodisney

I was bummed to find Phantom Manor behind tall construction fences. I dunno why this was such a surprise to me… I guess I thought the construction would be limited to the inside of the ride and we could still get some amazing snowy shots of the exterior.

virtual tour eurodisney

This is a nice touch I feel like the American Disney parks wouldn’t bother with if they closed their Haunted Mansions for 9 months.

virtual tour eurodisney

Here’s what we managed to shoot through the cracks in the fence…

virtual tour eurodisney

Undeterred, we decided to go back out to the Hub and enter Adventureland from the main gate.

But first…. CASTLE!

virtual tour eurodisney

I was really excited about Adventureland because I love Disney’s take on the Middle Eastern aesthetic. Tokyo DisneySea’s Arabian Coast is one of my favorite places in all of the parks, and of course we’ll always have a soft spot for Morocco in Epcot .

virtual tour eurodisney

One valiant torch continues burning away to spite the snow…

virtual tour eurodisney

But once you walk through the gate, that’s pretty much it… The only other things here are an Arabian Coast-esque buffet restaurant and a “They Don’t Make ’em Like That Anymore” Aladdin diorama walk-through, both of which I’ll show you in a future installment.

Here’s a gift shop that was never open for the rest of our trip… We shoulda gone in right then! I could be the proud owner of a neon zebra-striped Minnie Mouse bobble-head pen right now!

virtual tour eurodisney

Wow! Looks like Adventureland drivers are just as bad in the snow as L.A. drivers are in the rain!

virtual tour eurodisney

Just another balmy day in Adventureland…

virtual tour eurodisney

I threw a rock in there!

virtual tour eurodisney

Further into Adventureland is the Adventure Isle playground, which was also closed that day and most of the rest of our trip.

virtual tour eurodisney

I did get excited just to see the Pirate Galleon and Skull Rock. I was too little to remember these from Disneyland, so getting to see them here was like stepping back in time… and into a snow globe!

virtual tour eurodisney

I know Skull Rock is s’posed to be scary, but it does kinda look like he’s barfing…

virtual tour eurodisney

“BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRFFFF!”

virtual tour eurodisney

>serene nature sounds<

virtual tour eurodisney

From Adventureland we headed into Fantasyland. Here’s Peter Pan, which I believe was also closed.

virtual tour eurodisney

Toad Hall is a counter-service restaurant at Disneyland Paris, not a ride, but Tom at the Disney Tourist Blog says it’s one of the best for food and theming. After all I’d read about it online (the Imagineers made it a restaurant so people could actually spend real time inside), not being able to go in there was one of the bigger disappointments of our trip. We checked every day, even going so far as to run all the way back here minutes before we were supposed to leave for Paris, but it was never open. (Despite the fact that the Disneyland Paris mobile app kept saying it WAS open—argh!)

virtual tour eurodisney

Time for a pit stop! Looky what we found in the bathrooms…

virtual tour eurodisney

Are these new, in response to the longstanding complaints about lack of upkeep in the parks? Or have they always been here? Either way, I LOVE them! If the bathroom’s dirty, just punch the frowny guy in the face!

I dunno what this is. Let’s just say it’s a foie gras stand…

virtual tour eurodisney

Ugh! OK, this is another one…. If we had gone to Disneyland Paris on a normal, snow-less week, we would have spent 10 minutes poking around Alice’s Curious Labyrinth and been like, “Yeah, it’s aight…” Instead, because it’s unique to Disneyland Paris and we were repeatedly denied entrance—including, again, when the app showed it as open—it became this sort of Holy Grail and we wasted so much energy constantly checking to see if it was open.

virtual tour eurodisney

They don’t call it Alice’s *Curious* Labyrinth for nuthin’!

virtual tour eurodisney

“Let me see… The Labyrinth will open at Never o’Clock!”

virtual tour eurodisney

I tried to throw a rock in here but my arm wasn’t long enough!

virtual tour eurodisney

I LOVE the inclusion of The Old Mill! What a great idea, even if it is just a quick-service Pheasant Under Glass stand…

virtual tour eurodisney

This is either the head or the tail of a dragon. For safety’s sake, I should probably learn the difference one of these days…

virtual tour eurodisney

It’s a Small World probably would have been a good ride to go on at that point, but we wanted to shoot as much of the park as we could before it got dark. I love how the lamps look like soft serve in the snow!

virtual tour eurodisney

What the…? Yellow Safety Cone again?! I thought we’d lost that guy!!!

virtual tour eurodisney

I remember it being very important to me that Patrick take this photo, but now I don’t remember why. Maybe because it was one of the few fully cleared walkways in the park?

virtual tour eurodisney

The other side of the castle!

virtual tour eurodisney

The area around the Plaza Gardens restaurant is probably already pretty gorgeous, but the snow took it over the top! We didn’t go inside cuz it’s one of those pay-right-inside-the-door buffet places. Also, Yellow Safety Cone…

virtual tour eurodisney

Yes, I threw a snow ball in there.

virtual tour eurodisney

Right about here is when I started to get really discouraged. For one thing, even though I’d planned the heck out of our wardrobes—preparing us with scarves, hats, long underwear, gloves, things that go between your gloves and your sleeves, and convertible rain jackets with zip-out layers of snuggly down—I hadn’t considered that we might need shoes with tread thick enough for walking on snow! So I’d exhausted myself slipping and sliding around Disneyland for hours, even as cast members were telling us it would be worse tomorrow because all the snow was expected to freeze into ice overnight.

Also, after the novelty of seeing everything covered in snow began to wear off, it was replaced by sinking dread as we noticed more and more closed rides, restaurants, shops and even entire sections of the park. Here we were during a season when many rides were already closed for annual maintenance, and suddenly it looked like we might not even get to ride most of the remaining attractions!

At that point, I felt about like this…

virtual tour eurodisney

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here….

But Patrick gave me a pep talk, and I agreed that we really should round out our photo tour with Discoveryland before it got too dark, so we pressed on.

Discoveryland. Yay.

virtual tour eurodisney

Actually, my curiosity about Discoveryland did overcome my sagging spirits for a while. I love that it’s a Jules Verne/H.G. Wells/Leonardo da Vinci/George Lucas mashup that finally abandons the flawed “future” concept of Tomorrowland. (Tony Baxter summed it up nicely when he said that people don’t get excited about technology, they get excited about what technology can facilitate.) And I’d always been curious to see if it worked better than our Tomorrowlands.

If nothing else, it’s certainly better looking! Somewhere in  Disneyland Paris: From Sketch to Reality they mention that Discoveryland was so successful that the Imagineers imported the concept back to the Tomorrowland in California’s Disneyland. I had to scan the furthest reaches of my mind for a moment on that one…  It finally hit me that the authors were referring to the Great Brown-ing of Tomorrowland in 1998. Originally Disneyland  was  going to import new ideas and rides based on Discoveryland. But then Disneyland Paris was such a flop that Eisner slashed budgets across the board, and “Tomorrowland 2055” became 2,055 gallons of bronze paint.

If I’ve said it before in past trip reports, forgive me—I want to be sure it’s down on virtual paper: Why doesn’t Disney just make Tomorrowland the land of the Future That Never Was, circa 1955? Yes, OK, Discoveryland is supposed to be that, but it’s a steampunk fantasy based on 19th Century visions of science fiction and fact. But Disneyland’s Tomorrowland could be an homage to all the bright, streamlined wacky visions of the future generated in the 20th Century. It would be a nod to Disneyland’s origins, to Walt Disney’s futurism and to the current mania for Mid-Century Modern everything. Oh yeah… they can’t do it because there’s no branded franchise they can apply to it. If only Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland had been a massive hit!

virtual tour eurodisney

Discoveryland doesn’t have a lot of rocks just lying around. I think I threw a snowball in this one!

virtual tour eurodisney

The Orbitron, so out-of-place in Disneyland, actually works in the place it was designed for—go figure!

virtual tour eurodisney

These snow-covered trees were my favorite thing about Discoveryland. They’re downright otherworldly!

virtual tour eurodisney

We finally decided we probably should try to get on at least one attraction before the park closed and chose Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain as our first-ever ride in Disneyland Paris. Our Club-level VIP FASTPASSes got us in a side door, so we only had to wait about 10 minutes.

I liked the being-shot-out-of-a-cannon intro, but overall it was a little bit disappointing. It felt like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (even though they actually have a Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster over in Disney Studios Park) with a cheap, tacky overlay of screens showing Star Wars stuff. Also there was no music or sound effects, which was weird. (We gave it another shot later in the trip and liked it much better with music and sound effects!).

Afterward, we headed straight for Les Mystères du Nautilus, another attraction I’d been excited to see because we don’t have anything like it in the US (anymore). But guess what happened…. Just guess! That’s right: It was closed!

virtual tour eurodisney

We ended up riding Star Tours and finding it remarkably enjoyable. We hadn’t seen any of the new Last Jedi scenes before, and we got two of them! Also, it was in English, so it felt very familiar but new at the same time. I also noticed over the course of our trip that the French cast members are more egalitarian (or possibly less interested) in who they secretly pick to be the rebel spy. It’s not always some cute little kid—sometimes we hideous grownups get a chance too!

virtual tour eurodisney

Discoveryland is really really pretty at dusk in the snow.

virtual tour eurodisney

Guess they don’t have chains or snow tires for the cars at Autopia!

virtual tour eurodisney

If you think the castle is gorgeous during the day, just wait til you see it at night!

virtual tour eurodisney

Patrick and I stole each other’s shot. Here’s his Canon Rebel shot….

virtual tour eurodisney

…And here’s my iPhone X shot!

virtual tour eurodisney

We thought about sticking around to see the fireworks from in front of the castle, but it was SO cold out that we decided to watch from the comfort of the Castle Club Lounge. We spent the last open hour of the park exploring the arcades on Main Street.

virtual tour eurodisney

OK, so the Imagineers had the brilliant idea of creating indoor arcades that run behind each side of Main Street, U.S.A. to easily funnel guests in and out of the park in France’s frequent inclement weather.

Liberty Arcade commemorates the creation of the Statue of Liberty, France’s gift to America (and Disney’s way of reminding the French that they used to like us!), and runs behind the Emporium on the left side of Main Street as you face the castle.

This photo tour actually starts from the far end, down by Casey’s Corner, and proceeds up Main Street, U.S.A. toward the train station.

virtual tour eurodisney

Halfway up the street you can pop out into Liberty Court, one of Main Street, U.S.A.’s two side streets I was enthusing about earlier , and look at the pile of dirty snow.

virtual tour eurodisney

At the end of Liberty Arcade we stopped into the Emporium to marvel at this exquisite stained glass ceiling.

virtual tour eurodisney

Tink: “America doesn’t deserve anything this nice!”

We crossed the street and started at the entrance to Discovery Arcade, which celebrates the “golden age of invention” via scale models of various gadgets and whirligigs inventors have patented. Also barbed wire.

virtual tour eurodisney

I didn’t move back to L.A. until 1998, but I’m pretty sure none of this stuff was happening there in 1996…

virtual tour eurodisney

This early fire escape would have been a big hit, except it was tiny and made out of wood…

virtual tour eurodisney

John Hallner: “I call this stuff the ‘Tamer of the American West and Extinguisher of the Cowboy Way of Life’—catchy, amiriiiiiite?!”

virtual tour eurodisney

The world’s first Rube Goldberg Machine !

virtual tour eurodisney

The Uneasy Chair…

virtual tour eurodisney

This early washing machine had wheels and handles on it so you could drag it back to inventor Mason Pike’s house whenever it ate one of your socks!

virtual tour eurodisney

The Rocket Cycle: Guaranteed to get you there fast! (Not guaranteed to get you there in one piece)

virtual tour eurodisney

On our tour of the Paris Opera House a few days later, we learned that it was one of the first places in the world to have electricity installed.

virtual tour eurodisney

We tried to stop into the clothing shop at the end of Discovery Arcade to get Patrick another sweatshirt, but it was closed. Story of our trip! He used the last of the strength in his rapidly freezing fingers to get you these two photos…

virtual tour eurodisney

Disneyland Paris closed at 8pm every night of our trip, and the fireworks were scheduled at closing. I made our California Grill reservation for 8:30pm so we could maximize our time inside the park while it was open and be able to watch the fireworks before dinner.

Retreating to the Castle Club lounge for the show seemed like the smartest idea on that freezing cold night. Patrick got us a great seat right by the window and ordered us two hot chocolates (which came with extra pieces of chocolate!). I was in heaven!

virtual tour eurodisney

You can tell how excited I was by how blurry my photo is!

virtual tour eurodisney

Unfortunately, due to the weather, they ran a modified version of the show with just the castle projections, no fireworks. So we were actually in pretty much the worst place to see the show!

virtual tour eurodisney

XXXXTREME iPHONE ZOOM!!!!

virtual tour eurodisney

On the other hand, once the show was over, we only had to walk a few feet around the corner to go to California Grill for dinner! What we didn’t understand at the time was that California Grill is actually the place downstairs that I showed you in the last installment . But since it was being used as the Inventions buffet while that restaurant was being refurbished, they opened up this room-that-I-have-no-idea-what-it-is across from the concierge desks by the Castle Club elevators. Let’s say it was Michael Eisner’s Secret Lair.

virtual tour eurodisney

Nice view, but where do they keep the laser sharks?

virtual tour eurodisney

Little girl: “You know that Main Street is still open, right? And that we could be out there having fun?!”

virtual tour eurodisney

True Story: I thought we’d been sitting next to a Secret Tooter all night until I passed this cheese display on our way out and realized THAT was the source of the smell.

virtual tour eurodisney

We spent almost three hours here and still aren’t sure what’s “California” about it. True, this is not its normal location, but look at these photos of the actual interior and tell me how swagged cabbage rose chintz and tiny floral wallpaper is Californian. California restaurants didn’t even look like that at the height of the Shabby Chic Eighties! (To see what California restaurants did look like in the Eighties, watch Steve Martin’s  L.A. Story .)

virtual tour eurodisney

The food wasn’t particularly Californian either…. Foie gras, confit, tart, financier… You might find these things on a menu in California, but there was nothing uniquely Californian in their preparation or presentation. I mean, even California Grill at Walt Disney World, with its fixation on pizza/flatbread, bless it, offers more of a Californian experience than this place!

I dunno, maybe I’m just extra-touchy because I’m actually from California. Maybe French people go to Chefs de France in Epcot and roll their eyes because there’s no wine on the kids’ menu.

Your choices are the  €90 (€115 with wine) Tinker Bell Menu…

virtual tour eurodisney

Or the  €130 Michael Eisner Menu…

virtual tour eurodisney

There’s also a Premium Menu for people on one of Disney’s pre-paid meal plans. I did the math six ways to Sunday and could not figure out how any of these would be a good deal for us, so I skipped them. However, when I mentioned I’d pass on the dessert course with the Tinker Bell Menu (cuz… fruit!), they said I could have the chocolate dessert on the Premium Menu. So you may be able to order other stuff off this one if you’re paying out of pocket.

virtual tour eurodisney

And there’s a kid’s menu, which I did not even dare try to order from, lest they eject us from the hotel altogether.

virtual tour eurodisney

Probably the most “California” thing at California Grill is the iPad wine menu.

virtual tour eurodisney

We were seated at the far end of the room behind a temporary screen that shielded the entrance to what I thought was the kitchen but now know was probably just Michael Eisner’s executive bathroom kitted out with a hot plate and a bag of ice in the sink for a fridge.

We had a lovely view of a table that had a lovely view…

virtual tour eurodisney

Our table backed up to some book cases lined with neat old photos of Walt and Roy.

virtual tour eurodisney

Walt: “Would adding arms make this Easter balloon more creepy or less creepy?”

Roy: “Oh it’s all creepy, Walt!”

virtual tour eurodisney

Walt: “I think I can get this baby up to 55, 60 miles per hour!”

Roy: “Uh, you got 5 feet of track…”

virtual tour eurodisney

Walt and Roy: “WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”

virtual tour eurodisney

Roy: “Can you believe this story about you accepting an invitation made the FRONT PAGE of the Marceline News ?!”

Walt: “Heh heh… Just wait’ll I cryogenically freeze myself!”

virtual tour eurodisney

I know much has been made about the lack of quality in Disneyland Paris’ food, though it seems the Internet has acknowledged an improvement since they began gearing up for the 25th anniversary. So I guess we should be grateful we didn’t have any truly horrible meals at Disneyland Paris. But we didn’t have any truly memorable ones either. And when you’re paying Disney prices with an unfavorable exchange rate in a country renowned for its food, that stings.

Our dinner at California Grill was fine. Nothing to write home about (but something to write half a blog post about, apparently!). I guess I could compare it to Citricos or Narcoossee’s, where we’ve never had anything terrible or wonderful. It certainly wasn’t as good as the better meals I’ve had at California Grill in Walt Disney World or our favorite steakhouse in L.A.

Bread: Acceptable, and no one chipped a tooth (my super-specific phobia after a classmate broke his front tooth on a baguette during our high school choir trip to Europe)!

virtual tour eurodisney

Butter: Portable and adorable!

virtual tour eurodisney

Amuse-bouche : What  bouche wouldn’t be amused by a cube of salmon with a dollop of crème fraiche ?

virtual tour eurodisney

Appetizer: Patrick had the “Semi-cooked Scottish Label Rouge salmon tempura and wasabi yuzu sherbet” and said the “tempura” was more like a soggy Beef Wellington wrapper. Even the camera didn’t want to focus on it!

virtual tour eurodisney

But the award for least-photogenic appetizer goes to my “Cream of cep [mushroom] soup with chestnut slivers, herb foam.”  I never thought anything that looked so much like spit-out toothpaste could taste so good!

virtual tour eurodisney

Entree: We both ordered the “Grilled Angus beef fillet, polenta with 12-month PDO Cheddar and grilled ceps, Robert Mondavi Cabernet sauce.” The filet was pretty flavorless, but at least they cooked it exactly as we’d asked (medium-rare). The best part was the garlicky mushrooms. I coulda eaten a whole plate of those!

virtual tour eurodisney

The Robert Mondavi sauce came on the side…

virtual tour eurodisney

Dessert: Patrick had the “Pistachio financier with seasonal fruit” and thought it was just OK. Sure was pretty, though!

virtual tour eurodisney

I had the “Dark chocolate fondant, mandarin and sweet pastry croutons,” which was just a solid rectangle of ganache. I’m not complaining!

virtual tour eurodisney

They aren’t kidding when they say the French like a leisurely meal. We nearly fell asleep while waiting for the bill and didn’t get outta there till after 11pm!

This was waiting for us when we got back to the room.

virtual tour eurodisney

As was this view…

virtual tour eurodisney

In my sleepy state, my positivity defenses were down and I started getting anxious and disappointed again about the snow. I felt like we’d saved up all this money for a blowout three-night trip to Disneyland Paris, but now we were not even going to get to do most of the things that you can do at Disneyland Paris and had wasted our money. Patrick pointed out that the thing we paid all the money for, Castle Club, was working out great—friendly, helpful cast members; gorgeous views; free meals; direct access to the park—so we couldn’t complain. But I can complain and did so vigorously until the second my head hit the pillow!

virtual tour eurodisney

Goodnight, Big Pink Wall o’ Doom! You’ll be the first thing I see in the morning!

Up Next: First Full Day in Disneyland Paris!

12 responses, stine kjærside.

We arrived shortly after you guys to DLP, on February 26th, to celebrate my birthday! It was SO COLD! I’m from Scandinavia, so I know cold, but this was FREEZING! I remember having a very fast beating heart and a little bit of nausea, because we kept going inside restaurants and pay for coffee or hot chocolate in an attempt to stay warm!

Wow! OK, I don’t feel like such a baby for being cold if a genuine Scandinavian was ALSO cold at DLP that winter!

Carrie, you write the BEST trip reports! Tu me fais toujours rire! I can’t believe how expensive it has become to eat at Disneyland Paris. It was never cheap, for sure, but holy cow!!! And I’m loving all your lovely photos, including the snowy trees and shrubs that Patrick favors. You guys are such a lovely couple!

Wow! This was really nice to hear right now. I’m struggling to write the next installment, which is 200 photos that can be summed up in a single sentence (“We walked around and looked at stuff because everything was closed”)! Thanks for the pep talk!

Love reading your posts! You always make me laugh. 🙂

Have you guys ever thought about making a youtube channel with your travels? I know I would tune in!

Thanks, Dana! I hate being on camera, but Patrick loves it, so maybe a YouTube channel is something we should look into!

We did the premium plan because it was free half board on the package I booked. The food was noticeably better on that menu versus the other tiers. We found California Grill fine to good. Chef Remy was the best. We also ate at Walt’s, Buffalo Bill show, Inventions character dinner and the princess lunch. Too much food but I couldn’t pick and choose for my only 3 days potentially ever!

This is so interesting! I’ve sometimes heard people complain that the food on the set menus for WDW’s dining plan is not as good, so it’s refreshing to hear that at Disneyland Paris it’s actually better!

Were most of the attractions/restaurants closed because of the snow? Or because of the season? Or perhaps a bit of both?

According to some of the commenters on the DIS, it was a combination of both. Apparently a lot of restaurants and shops are closed during the week in the off-season. Then the snow forced them to shut down even more stuff!

“I thought we’d been sitting next to a Secret Tooter all night until I passed this cheese display on our way out and realized THAT was the source of the smell.”

Cannot stop laughing!!

Oh good! I thought it might be TMI….

Theme parks are closed for the foreseeable future , but online theme park culture lives on. If a Disneyland attraction exists (in the time of YouTube, at least), then chances are a high-definition video ride-through, walk-through, or POV of said attraction exists, ready to be experienced from home.

Disney parks have a fairly lax policy when it comes to bringing cameras on rides to film the experience. While technically, officially not allowed, as long as filming doesn’t pose a safety hazard (which they would on Hollywood Studios’ Rock ‘N Roller coaster, which goes upside down) or use flash on dark rides like Haunted Mansion, cast members permit recording devices on most rides at Disney parks. While selfie sticks specifically are prohibited at the parks, GoPros, iPhones, and DSLR cameras are all allowed. (Which explains how one mad genius covertly directed an entire black-and-white thriller inside the parks.)

Ride-through and walk-through videos are a big part of theme park culture, showcasing many attractions and interactive areas of the park. Since almost every attraction has at least one video associated with it, one can theoretically hit all the iconic landmarks of Disneyland without every leaving the comfort of home. So behold, a virtual exploration through Disneyland, Anaheim, broken down by each individual land in the park.

Adventureland

Photo of the entrance to the Jungle Cruise in Disneyland, CA

Indiana Jones Adventure

The Indiana Jones-themed attraction opened in 1995. A dark, fast-paced ride, Indiana Jones adventure is more thrilling than the typical Disney ride experience, sharing a specific ride track technology used at only one other Disney park attraction: Animal Kingdom’s terrifying Dinosaur .

Jungle Cruise

The live-action movie of this classic Disney attraction may be postponed, but you can get your fix — with all the cheesy animal jokes! — with this ride-through video. Jungle Cruise is one of the attractions that opened with the park and evolved over the past 50 years. One noticeable change? The original Jungle Cruise skippers had real pistols and fired blanks at the animatronic hippos.

Tarzan’s Treehouse

The replica of the treehouse that Tarzan’s parents built at the beginning of the 1999 movie isn’t a ride so much as it is an experience. Luckily, walk-through videos are just as popular as ride throughs.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

The iconic Disney park show features a bunch of talking and singing birds. And it’s available on YouTube so you too can relieve the heavily accented birds crooning about their tropical paradise.

Critter Country

The sign for the entrance to “Critter Country,” Disneyland, CA

Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

No motors or tracks on this ride! Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes is a free floating boat experience, which takes guests on a tour around the park, following the tracks of the larger Disney boats, Mark Twain River Boat, and the Sailing Ship Columbia.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

This family-friendly dark ride spins up the adventures of Winnie the Pooh. There are versions of the Winnie the Pooh attraction at Disney’s Orlando, Shanghai, and Hong Kong locations, but the Disneyland one is the only one to feature beehive ride vehicles instead of honey pots.

Splash Mountain

Based on the highly controversial Song of the South (so controversial that the movie isn’t on Disney Plus), Splash Mountain itself is a cheery ride about animated animals in a briar patch. The best part about a video version of this one is that you don’t get wet if you sit in the first row!

Fantasyland

The entrance to “It’s a Small World” in Disneyland, CA

King Arthur Carousel

This carousel was actually constructed 30 years before Disneyland opened and operated in Sunnyside Beach Park in Toronto, Canada. The lead horse, named Jingles, was so popular that all the other horses were painted white.

Snow White’s Scary Adventure

One of the attractions that debuted with the park in 1955, Snow White’s Scary Adventure had one major overhaul in 1983. It was set for another in January.

Alice in Wonderland

A dark attraction based on — you guessed it! — 1951’s Alice in Wonderland (not the 2010 Tim Burton one). Unlike some of the other based-on-a-movie dark rides in Disneyland’s Fantasyland, this one is exclusive to the California location.

Casey Jr. Circus Train

A miniature railroad based on thee train from Dumbo , Casey Jr. Circus Train takes young guests on a little tour of the Storybook area of Fantasyland.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Ride the skies on Dumbo’s back. This is one of the staples of Disney parks, the one they use in promotional material all the time.

It’s A Small World

It’s a small world after all, it’s a small world after all … get all the joys of riding this multicultural ride, without the stank of old water. No promises on if you’ll be able to get the Sherman Brothers’ earworm out of your head afterward.

Mad Tea Party

Take a virtual spin on the iconic tea cups. For added effect, prop your laptop on your lap as you spin your home office chair in time to the video.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Modelled after the mountain of the same name in the Alps, which borders the Swiss and Italian border, the Matterhorn Bobsleds borders Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride

This zany ride takes you through the “Wind in the Willows” segment of Disney’s The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad — and to the depths of hell, even though that isn’t in the movie! That’s right, at one point the ride “crashes” and you “die” and get sent to hell. It’s a ride for kids!

Peter Pan’s Flight

Though this dark attraction is one of the oldest in the park, it is still one of the most popular. Is it the enduring legacy of Peter Pan as a movie? Or the fact that Peter Pan is popular amongst edgy Hot Topic teens? We may never truly know.

Pinocchio’s Daring Journey

Based on Disney’s second theatrical animated feature, Pinocchio , this ride was added to the park in 1983, when Fantasyland underwent a huge revamp.

Storybook Land Canal Boats

Take a leisurely virtual boat ride around the Storybook section of Fantasyland. Think of it as the aquatic companion to the Casey Jr. Circus Train.

Fire TV Stick 4K

Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K is an all-in-one streaming device with apps for most major streaming services, 4K streaming and a voice remote powered by Amazon’s Alexa. It’s listed at $50, but often drops down to $35 during Amazon device sales.

Frontierland

Photo of a steamboat on a lake in Frontierland, Disneyland, CA

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The runaway railroad ride is a staple of Frontierland across Disney parks worldwide. The red rock designs are inspired by the American Southwest. With sharp twists and turns, it’s one of the more thrilling rides in Disneyland.

Mark Twain Riverboat

Yet another riverboat ride in Disneyland. Fun fact: this boat runs on a hidden rail beneath the ride. The pilot doesn’t so much drive the boat as they serve as a lookout to make sure it doesn’t collide with the Davy Crocket boats or the rafts to the Tom Sawyer island.

Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island

This video captures some of the raft experience, but is primarily a walk through of Tom Sawyer’s island. The island itself was originally just themed after the Mark Twain novel, but in 2007 got a pirate-themed revamp due to the popularity of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Sailing Ship Columbia

A full-scale replica of the first American ship to circumnavigate the globe, the Sailing Ship Columbia takes guests on a 12-minute tour around the waters of Disneyland. It also serves as a pirate ship backdrop for the Fantasmic! nighttime show.

Main Street U.S.A.

virtual tour eurodisney

The Disney Gallery

Walkthrough video culture runs so deep, you can peruse the art gallery on Main Street U.S.A via someone’s high-res footage.

The Disneyland Story presenting Moments with Mr. Lincoln

You can now watch an animatronic Abraham Lincoln from the comfort of your own home. It’s like the Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom, but if the Hall of Presidents was only about Abraham Lincoln.

Main Street Cinema

This video is a little walkthrough of one of the staples of Main Street U.S.A.

Mickey’s Toontown

Statue of Mickey Mouse at the entrance of Toontown, Disneyland, CA

Chip ‘n Dale Treehouse

Most of the Toontown attractions tend to be walkthrough focused. This one is the treehouse residence of the mischievous chipmunk duo.

Donald’s Boat

Donald has a boat! Here it is. It’s called the Miss Daisy, which is real cute.

Gadget’s Go Coaster

One of the attractions in Toontown, Gadget’s Go Coaster is geared towards kids.

Goofy’s Playhouse

Goofy’s playhouse has a “loony!” layout, according to the official description on the Disneyland website .

New Orleans Square

A castmember dressed as Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog chats with a park guest.

Haunted Mansion

Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion was already closed for refurbishment back in January. The spoopy attraction features a very catchy song and once spawned an Eddie Murphy live-action movie. Each Haunted Mansion attraction across Disney parks features a different architectural design deepening on what land the attraction is located in. The Disneyland one, in New Orleans Square, evokes old Southern mansions.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the Caribbean existed long before the movie trilogy (which to this day remains the only Disney movie based on a ride that’s found any critical success). Various refurbishments, including the addition of a Jack Sparrow animatronic and an update of one of the more outdated parts of the ride where women were being auctioned off , have kept the attraction fresh.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Close up of the full size Millennium Falcon in Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland

Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run

The attraction that opened with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge takes place inside the iconic Millenium Falcon. It’s like one giant video game .

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

The most ambitious new attraction to open its doors at Disneyland had to close them rather quickly. But check out the action-packed Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with this ride through video (or our own much abridged version from Hollywood Studios ).

Tomorrowland

The entrance to Tomorrowland in Disneyland, CA

Astro Orbiter

This high-flying ride is like the rocket ship equivalent of the Dumbo ride, perfect for Tomorrowland’s retro-futuristic aesthetic.

The Disney race track ride exists under different names at other Disney parks. In Magic Kingdom, it’s called Tomorrowland Speedway; in Tokyo Disneyland, it’s Grand Circuit Raceway. The concept, however, remains the same: drive car, zoom, zoom.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters

The Buzz Lightyear attraction is an arcade-style ride where guests shoot blasters at targets. A ride-through video can’t quite capture the thrill of competing against your seatmate, but it’s still a neon-swathed blast (pun intended).

Disneyland Monorail

Disney fans love the Disney monorail. It technically goes around the whole park, but since it’s stationed in Tomorrowland, it fits here.

Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

The Finding Nemo revamp of the original Submarine Voyage ride debuted in 2007 and gave the underwater attraction some Pixar characters. Refurbishing the ride was Disney Chairman Bob Iger’s first major parks project as CEO — right on the tails of his acquisition of Pixar.

Space Mountain

Space Mountain, a roller coaster which hurdles guests almost entirely in the dark, doesn’t seem like it’d make for a fun ride-through video (since it, you know, takes place in the dark of space), but you can’t have the full Tomorrowland experience without a ride on Space Mountain.

Star Tours: The Adventure Continues

Because Star Tours contains a lot of copyrighted footage, there aren’t as many ride-throughs of it floating around on YouTube as there are on other rides. This ride existed long before Galaxy’s Edge, and regularly adds new experiences as Star Wars movies have rolled out. The latest version included planets from The Rise of Skywalker .

Virtual Tour and Museum Highlights

Anyone in the world can experience and enjoy The Walt Disney Family Museum with our Virtual Tour and Museum Highlights. Benefitting from a wide range of embedded digital media content—including exclusive archived audio clips from a 1956 interview with Walt—the Virtual Tour brings Walt’s inspirational message directly to people’s streamable devices. Guests of all ages can learn about Walt’s early endeavors and struggles, his storytelling principles, and the technological innovations that made classics like  Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs  (1937) possible. Narrated by voiceover artists and producing partners Camille Dixon and Bill Rogers—recognized for their contributions to commercial broadcasts and theme parks—the Virtual Tour will be offered free to the public on the museum’s website and the WDFM app for a limited time.

The Virtual Tour was soft-launched in a live format by the museum’s Education Department in 2019, and initially designed for school groups. High-resolution videos of the galleries were merged with Disney film clips and narrated by a museum educator, allowing for a more customized experience for students unable to visit the museum due to geographic or financial constraints. Since the live Virtual Tour’s debut, the museum has been able to reach classrooms across the world, including a homeschool in South Africa.

In light of the museum’s temporary closure, The Walt Disney Family Museum team recently transformed the Virtual Tour into an immersive experience for people of all ages who wish to visit the museum and learn about Walt’s life in a streamable format.

To view the Virtual Tour, download the WDFM mobile app or view the video directly below.

Soon the thought of finding that missing expedition is gone as your most important task now is getting out safely — enjoy the ride!

It’s a Small World

The It’s a Small World ride is a classic no matter which park you experience it in. Set sail, sing along while you float down the Seven Seaways Waterway, and explore all 7 continents in less than 10 minutes.

The intricate details of the hand-crafted dolls telling stories of cultures all around the globe are just as impressive via YouTube as they are in person… well, almost!

One thing is the same as the actual ride: you will likely have the song stuck in your head for hours after you are done!

If you want to experience It’s a Small World in all the parks at once, check out this neat compilation via the Disney Parks YouTube Channel .

Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain

Fans of the original Space Mountain will recognize many parts of this roller coaster as it was previously known as Space Mountain: Mission 2.

In 2015, the indoor/outdoor roller coaster received a refresh and was rethemed as Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the park.

Although many parts of the ride are quite dark, you can still experience the thrill as the stars blow past you on this awesome steel coaster.

Walt Disney Studios Park

Ratatouille: the adventure.

Fans of EPCOT at Walt Disney World in Orlando can now ride the highly anticipated Ratatouille ride in Florida, but guests at Disneyland Paris have been enjoying it for years.

In this fun ride, you will shrink to the size of Remy and scurry through the famous Gusteau’s restaurant kitchen as you are being chased by angry Chef Skinner.

Dating back to its opening in 1955, Disneyland has long been the premier destination for theme park lovers on the west coast of the U.S. and across the world as it continues to grow.

Consisting of 2 parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland is just 26 miles from Los Angeles and offers some of the most innovative and exciting rides in the world.

Here are some of the best Disneyland attractions you can experience from home.

Jungle Cruise

If you are looking for a friendly, informative, and pun-filled cruise, look no further than Jungle Cruise .

Head off on an adventure where you will explore the Mekong River, African Congo, Nile River, and the Amazon with your trusty skipper, who is never short on jokes.

Matterhorn Bobsleds

Bundle up and slide into your bobsled as you hurtle down a snow-capped mountain.

Not only will you make your way through narrow passageways, caves, and jagged cliffs, but you will also need to avoid the Abominable Snowman!

This is a great thrill ride in person, but the 4K video does a good job of passing along the excitement!

Peter Pan’s Flight

With a little bit of pixie dust, you will find yourself flying over London on an enchanted ship on your way to Neverland with Peter Pan.

This classic story will have you soaring past Big Ben and swooping into Pirate’s Cove while Peter battles Captain Hook.

Will you and the children make it back to London? Watch and find out!

Space Mountain

You don’t need to worry about getting a Genie+ reservation to experience the world-famous Space Mountain — the thrill is just a click away.

While watching the video isn’t quite the same as plummeting through the darkness on this classic roller coaster, it will certainly help scratch the itch until you can ride again.

If you want some behind-the-scenes action, check out what it’s like to ride Space Mountain at Disney World with the lights on here !

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

One of the most anticipated rides in the history of theme parks is just a click away.

Join the Resistance as you battle against the First Order in this impressive “Star Wars” ride. This video will take you on a front-row POV on this trackless ride at Disneyland as you get help from Rey and BB-8, battling your way past legions of stormtroopers.

Disney California Adventure Park

Grizzly river run.

Strap in as you and your 7 friends board a whitewater raft and start drifting down what seems like a lazy river.

But hold on — this California river is full of drops, waterfalls, and geysers. If you were on this ride in person, you would probably get wet, but you don’t have to worry about that here.

You will still want to keep your head on a swivel to watch out for waterfalls, so be sure to strap on your VR headset and enjoy this ride in 360 degrees!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

This tower may look terrifyingly familiar to some, but it is now the home to Rocket and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Help save Star-Lord, Groot, and the rest of the crew, who are held captive in electrified glass cases that dangle perilously over an abyss.

If you are a fan of the classic rock from the movies, you will surely enjoy the ride’s playlist, courtesy of Star-Lord’s awesome mixtapes.

Incredicoaster

Head over to the Pixar Pier and help the Incredibles as they try to catch Jack-Jack causing trouble throughout the neighborhood.

This fun roller coaster is full of big drops and tunnels that are easy to enjoy, thanks to this 360-degree video. If you have VR goggles, strap them on and prepare for a wild ride!

Radiator Springs Racers

Buckle up as you race through Cars Land and arrive in charming Radiator Springs.

This fun ride makes you the star, and all your favorite characters, including Lightning McQueen, come out to help you prepare for the big race.

You will zoom around high-banked turns and cruise down straightaways past spectacular red rock formations before crossing the finish line. This one will be fun for the whole family!

Soarin’ Over California

Conquer your fear of heights as you glide over California’s beautiful state.

As the clouds part over San Francisco, you’ll find yourself with a thrilling perspective of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The IMAX tour continues as you fly over Yosemite National Park , Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Palm Springs, and San Diego Bay, returning at dusk over Malibu before returning to Disneyland Park.

Be sure to turn up the volume and embrace the ride!

Hong Kong Disneyland opened in 2005 on reclaimed land in Penny’s Bay in Hong Kong. The park only has a capacity for 34,000 visitors per day, the smallest of any Disney park, but it offers plenty of entertainment.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!

Shrink down and fight alongside Ant-Man and The Wasp as they try to help Iron Man defend against thousands of Swarmbots.

Guests ride along, shooting the bots hoping to protect S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret research.

This ride style may be familiar to Disney fans, so it should be fun whether you are in person or watching from home.

Iron Man Experience

The Iron Man Experience is one ride that we don’t have stateside.

Guests are welcome to tour Stark Industries and get an all-access look at the groundbreaking technologies that will help shape the future.

Put on some 3D glasses and board an Expo Edition Iron Wing for a wild flight over Hong Kong. While the virtual experience may not be as thrilling as the real thing, it gives you a great look at one of the few rides that are difficult to experience in person.

Mystic Manor

Mystic Manor is a trackless ride that takes you through an eclectic art collection in an old manor house and museum.

As you go through the labyrinth of rooms, a curious little monkey opens a mysterious box, and some mystical music dust starts bringing objects to life. You must make your way out before it is too late!

Fans of “Toy Story” are sure to love this ride. Climb aboard your favorite RC Racer as you zoom up and down the track.

Ride up and down the 88-foot (27 m) half-pipe and feel like you are one of Andy’s toys playing in the backyard!

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh is a lovable character, no matter where you are.

Hop into a honey pot and get lost in the pages of one of your favorite childhood books. Bounce along with Tigger in the Hundred Acre Wood and stay out of the rain with the help of Eeyore, Roo, Kanga, Rabbit, and Owl.

This is a fun and cute ride for all ages, online or in-person!

Toy Soldier Parachute Drop

This is another must-watch for “Toy Story” fans.

Guests become recruits for the toy soldier army as you hear the familiar voice of Sarge yelling out orders.

You will be high above Toy Story Land as you practice parachute drills. Strap in and hold on, soldier!

Shanghai Disneyland has long been considered one of Disney’s most well-balanced parks since its opening. With a great mix of shows, rides, and family attractions, it has something for everyone.

There are some great unique experiences that you will only find at this park. Let’s look at some of the best virtual rides on the internet.

Pirates of the Caribbean Battle of the Sunken Treasure

Set sail with Captain Jack Sparrow as you search the seas for Davy Jones’ sunken treasure.

This ride is fun, but beware of pirates, mermaids, and even the savage Kraken!

One of the most popular rides at the park for a good reason; take a look at this virtual cruise in 4K to see if it is enough to get you to start planning your next trip to China!

Roaring Rapids

Board your raft with fellow volunteers as you head up Roaring Mountain in search of the source of the mysterious sounds that come billowing out.

Hold on as the water turns into rapids as you are heading straight towards the dark caves. The sounds get louder as you approach, and you soon realize an enraged monster is causing the mountain roars.

Guests usually get wet on this ride, but you can avoid that and still get the thrill, thanks to this YouTube video.

TRON Lightcycle Power Run

Fans of adrenaline-pumping music, lights, and 3D graphics will love TRON Lightcycle Power Run . This ride is so popular in Shanghai that Disney replicated it in Magic Kingdom in Orlando.

Race for survival as you are other riders are “digitized” and enter the high-tech universe. Dip and dive in on your motorcycle through this incredible digital universe as you try to beat other opponents in your quest to capture the 8 Energy Gates.

Voyage to the Crystal Grotto

Board this charming little ship as you journey into a cavern full of Disney magic.

Music, light, and wonder will encompass you as you sail through incredible sculpture gardens honoring timeless Disney films like “Tangled,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Mulan,” and more.

After your cruise, you will surely be full of that special Disney awe.

Woody’s Roundup

Although it is certainly not the wildest ride, a trip (even a virtual one) to Shanghai Disneyland wouldn’t be complete for a “Toy Story” fan without a ride on Woody’s Roundup .

It’s time to have a party in the old Western town that Andy set up in his backyard. You will join Woody and Jessie for a good old-fashioned square dance as you spin back and forth on this fun family ride.

Even if you prefer the adrenaline of some of the other rides, you will undoubtedly be impressed with the details that make you feel like you are part of Andy’s toy collection.

Tokyo Disney Resort was the first Disney property built outside of the U.S. in 1983, and it has proven to be quite popular. It’s the third most visited park behind Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in California.

There are 2 parks, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, and both are just a short drive or train ride from downtown Tokyo . While Disneyland has the iconic look and feel of Magic Kingdom (and many of the famous attractions Disney fans love), DisneySea is just as popular.

Tokyo Disneyland

Splash mountain.

One of Disney’s most popular rides worldwide is Splash Mountain , and that holds true in Tokyo as well.

While quite similar to the version at Walt Disney World, the Tokyo Disneyland version has some subtle differences — can you spot them?

Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek

Get on one of the most popular rides at the park as you play hide and seek with flashlights, tagging alongside Boo, Mike, and Sulley.

Make your way through Monstropolis on a smooth tram and try to find as many monsters as possible.

This an enjoyable ride for the family, even virtually, as you interact with your favorite characters from the film.

Haunted Mansion

Are you afraid of the dark? What about 999 ghosts, goblins, and ghouls desperately looking for someone to make it an even 1,000?

This fun and spooky ride is a must-visit for many Disney fans, and now you can enjoy it from the safety of your home in 4K!

Sit down, dim the lights, and try not to scream!

Tokyo DisneySea

Soaring: fantastic flight.

Soaring has finally touched down in Tokyo. Debuting in July 2019, this version of Soarin’ (from EPCOT) is proving to be just as popular.

Strap in and feel what it is like to fly above our beautiful Earth as you are transported worldwide from a perspective like never before.

This video puts you right into the clouds to start flying immediately.

Tower of Terror

As terrifying as the other Towers of Terror rides worldwide, the Tokyo DisneySea version is a fan favorite.

Transport back to 1912 New York as the Preservation Society is finishing up the restoration of this famous hotel and giving tours to the public. But the mysterious disappearance of the hotel’s owner in 1899 seems to be causing trouble, especially when the elevator reaches the top floor!

What do you think? Is this as scary as the original? Better?

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Unique to DisneySea and one of the most exciting rides at the park, Journey to the Center of the Earth is certainly worth checking out — even online.

Head deep into an active volcano on exploration, but hold on as things go awry and you find yourself plunging even deeper.

This thrill ride is certainly entertaining — enjoy it now without the long waits!

Raging Spirits

If you love thrilling roller coasters, this ride is for you.

This outdoor thrill ride is happy to take you upside down and 360 degrees around. Don’t worry about themes on this one. It’s all about speed and drops.

Raging Spirits is known for its long queues, so take advantage of the fact that you can see it from the comfort and safety of your home without motion sickness!

Walt Disney World in Orlando is the crown jewel of the Disney Parks family.

The massive property covers 25,000 acres and is home to 4 theme parks , 2 water parks , 27 resort hotels , multiple golf courses, and more shopping and dining options than you can pack into a single vacation.

Welcoming an average of 58 million guests per year (yes, you read that correctly), Walt Disney World is the most visited vacation resort in the world. Let’s look at some of the rides that make it so popular.

Planning a family vacation to Walt Disney World can be stressful! We offer tips to help make your next trip to see Mickey stress-free !

Magic Kingdom

Mad tea party.

If you like getting dizzy, this is the ride for you!

One of the most classic Magic Kingdom rides is the Mad Tea Party , a must-do for many guests. Inspired by “Alice in Wonderland,” it is loved by many, but this spinning ride is certainly not for everyone.

Ready to go for a twirl? Click play!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

One of the most popular rides in the park, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is known for its hairpin turns… and long waits. Fortunately, you don’t need to worry about the latter part when riding virtually.

Strap into this rustic mine train and make your way through the creaking tracks as you come across your favorite dwarfs as they are whistling and singing while they work.

This is a great family ride and almost as fun when watching from home!

It doesn’t get more iconic than Splash Mountain. The winding river, the small drops, the music … all getting you ready for the big splash at the end in front of all the passers-by.

Splash Mountain is currently being reimagined as “ Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ,” with theming from “The Princess and the Frog,” so until the renovation is complete, this 4K video is the next best thing.

Fortunately, in this version, you don’t have to wear a poncho!

Frozen Ever After

EPCOT has improved its rides lately, but one of the most popular rides in all the parks continues to be Frozen Ever After, based on the super-popular film.

This boat ride will take you towards Arendelle through a frozen willow forest and eventually to the North Mountain, where Queen Elsa’s enchanting ice palace awaits.

Fans of the movies will be happy to know that there are appearances from all your favorite characters, including Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and more.

Mission: Space

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be an astronaut? Well, now you can get a feel for it thanks to this NASA-inspired simulation.

Chose your mission: travel to Mars or just a gentle orbit around Earth. Both will require you to go through cadet training, so prepare for an epic blastoff into space.

Strap in and enjoy some of the most spectacular views of our planet.

This is a fun ride for the car lover — or anyone who likes a fun ride.

Head to the Chevrolet Design Center and create a virtual concept car that you’ll then get to take out for a spin on the test track. You will experience big curves, inclement weather, and high speeds.

Hopefully, your creation is up to the challenge!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Mickey & minnie’s runaway railway.

The most anticipated ride opening of 2020 just may have been Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway .

The newest of all Hollywood Studios rides, this trackless ride replaced The Great Movie Ride in the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in the center of Hollywood Studios, and the reviews have been good.

Zip away with Mickey and Minnie as you are transported into the cartoon short with them on a wild train ride. This is the first-ever ride that features Mickey Mouse and his friends — enjoy!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Talking about popular rides, new “Star Wars” rides are probably the most anticipated attractions of the past decade, if not ever at Walt Disney World.

Make your way through Galaxy’s Edge before boarding the Millenium Falcon as you embark on a thrilling, interactive journey into hyperspace.

There is danger at every turn as you battle through the galaxy. Get ready to punch it!

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Fast roller coasters and loud music? Sign us up!

Jump in their limo and explore the city at break-neck speeds!

Slinky Dog Dash

“Toy Story” fans rejoice! The ride of your dreams is here, and you don’t have to worry about securing a Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation!

Head into Andy’s backyard, where he has assembled his Mega Coaster Play Kit and Slinky Dog, ready to take you on a wild ride.

This incredibly fun ride is perfect for the entire family, whether in person or online.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Avatar flight of passage.

One of the world’s most visually stunning and exciting rides can be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Avatar Flight of Passage consistently generates hours-long lines, with guests coming off the ride saying it was worth every minute. Impressive, no?

On this 3D ride, you climb on the back of a mountain banshee and fly through Pandora as if you were a Na’vi hunter.

While it would be impossible to experience how incredible this ride is from your computer truly, you can get a pretty good idea of how special it is without the help of Genie+.

Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain

If you are looking for a good old-fashioned roller coaster but with that special Disney touch, look no further than Expedition Everest .

Hold on as you careen through the Himalayan peaks on old train tracks as mystic Yeti chases after you.

Big drops, darkness, drops in reverse, this ride has it all.

Kilimanjaro Safari

One of the exceptional parts of Animal Kingdom is that there are — wait for it — a lot of animals on the property!

You can go on an open-air safari that covers over 100 acres of land, home to 34 species of animals. With everything from open plains to rocky wetlands, you will be amazed at how many beautiful animals live in the park — and how close you can get to them.

Whether it’s a stunning giraffe, a regal lion, or one of the rhinos or elephants, there is plenty to see on this 18-minute tour.

Disneyland Paris Guest Experience Enhanced with New Digital Services, next step in Continue Evolution of the Resort!

Disneyland Paris is helping guests maximize the fun and minimize the wait with a host of digital enhancements on the Disneyland Paris App, among them a new Food Hub, new Disney Premier Access service and new digital features at resort hotels. Further enhancements are empowering our Cast Members to excel in the resort’s signature service style and enabling Imagineers to push the boundaries of storytelling.

Digital Services for an Elevated Guest Experience

Disneyland Paris is always looking at opportunities to leverage technology for an enhanced guest experience in an increasingly interconnected world. To that end, the Resort has taken advantage of its temporary closure to further develop digital features for an even more compelling, tailor-made and premium guest experience.

Starting with Resort Hotels, a new Online Check-in feature will allow guests to start registration from their phones and get a text message when their room is ready, a great way to reduce waiting time and enjoy all that the Resort has to offer. More tech features are available at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, such as Super Hero Station Mobile Booking which is available exclusively for guests staying at this hotel to reserve an epic moment with Spider-Man!

virtual tour eurodisney

On the Disneyland Paris App, guests can soon test new features for an enhanced dining experience, such as a “ Food Hub ” which allows anyone to conveniently search and book Disney-operated restaurants based on useful criteria such as type of cuisine or meal plans accepted. With the app, guests can book and plan their culinary experience months in advance.

Looking ahead, the online registration system put in place last year is now here to stay. This system allows for better planning the level of service to help deliver the signature guest experience that Disneyland Paris is known for across every aspect of a guest’s visit, from attractions to dining to entertainment and more. To ensure admission, Guests must continue to register through the system and obtain a reservation for park entry along with their park ticket, prior to their arrival. Guests who already have a dated ticket or who bought a package that includes parks tickets and hotel stay will not need to use the registration system.

The complimentary Standby Pass which debuted on the Disneyland Paris App last October has also returned. Standby Pass allows guests to spend part of their wait time for select attractions outside of the physical queue line, although it does not provide immediate access to an attraction. This service can be activated during certain periods of the day, subject to availability and dependent on day-to-day needs in the parks. When activated, guests can use the Disneyland Paris App to book a time slot to enter the physical queue line of an attraction and return to stand in the queue at that time.

virtual tour eurodisney

Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to provide guests with a range of options to optimize trip planning, guests can choose to purchase Disney Premier Access on the Disneyland Paris App when it launches on August 5. This optional digital service allows guests to enjoy the ability to skip the regular queue line for some of our most beloved attractions, including a mix of thrill-rides, Disney classics and experiences for the whole family.

virtual tour eurodisney

From anywhere inside the parks, guests can use the App to book an assigned time slot for select attractions, with prices at launch starting at 8€ per person per ride depending on the attraction and day of use. Guests without a smartphone can also purchase Disney Premier Access at select locations in the parks. By choosing Disney Premier Access, guests have the option for more flexibility in planning their day and will be able to spend even more time enjoying attractions, shows and so much more.

virtual tour eurodisney

As we continue to assess many aspects of our business and make changes where they are needed for both the current environment and the future of our resort, the addition of Standby Pass and Disney Premier Access will provide alternative services for our guests and the previous FASTPASS service at Disneyland Paris will not be returning. We are always working to enhance our offerings and the way that our guests experience them based on valuable feedback for ongoing improvements across the resort.

On the latest additions to the Disneyland Paris App, Juliette Bron, Vice President Digital & Data says:

“ We are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience. The return of Standby Pass, the introduction of Disney Premier Access and each new digital enhancement across our parks and hotels is part of our commitment to provide innovative products and services that take into consideration ongoing feedback and not only meet but exceed the expectations of our guests.

Guests expect seamless experiences more and more, and with technology’s evolution, we have an             opportunity – and a responsibility – to match their expectations.”

These new services are just one part of a more dynamic, seamless guest experience designed to accommodate guests’ changing preferences and advancements in technology.

Enhanced Storytelling Through Digital Innovation

At Disneyland Paris, technology is ever-present in our most beloved attractions thanks to our Imagineers – a term coined by Walt Disney himself – who embody the innovation of Disney Parks, mastering emerging technologies to deliver immersive storytelling time and time again. Imagineers create the attractions of tomorrow using the latest in virtual reality and 4D design.

It’s no surprise that our latest attractions uphold this legacy. In Cars ROAD TRIP, guests are invited on an adventure into the world of Pixar’s Cars films along the idyllic Route 66, integrating GPS-triggered audio and visuals for seamless storytelling. This immersive approach follows in the footsteps of other tech-savvy rides, such as Ratatouille – The Adventure with its wireless autonomous vehicles, moving-eye point technology and customized projections, or Star Tours: The Adventures Continue with its built-in jukebox functionality for a ride experience that is unique to each guest.

virtual tour eurodisney

Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is a great example of how new technologies can help Imagineers create the experiences of tomorrow. Long before construction began, several spaces were virtually remodeled at scale, allowing the creative teams to see and test what guests would experience in order to fine tune every detail. This was the case for Skyline Bar, which offers a breathtaking view from a New York City skyscraper for a surreal look at the city that never sleeps, without the dizzying effects! Imagineers collaborated with Marvel partners to deliver more than 1.2 million frames of 4K resolution imagery on the nine, 86-inch monitors that create a seamless day-to-night view.

David Wilson, Vice President, Walt Disney Imagineering says :

“We are moving forward with a number of groundbreaking projects that will push the boundaries of innovation and storytelling even further. As we continue efforts to reinvent the overall guest experience, we are developing increasingly interconnected experiences for our guests which bring together the digital and physical worlds in a seamless way, creating new opportunities for immersive storytelling.”

Seamless Digital Experience for Cast Members

The resort continues to enhance the Cast Member experience from the very start with immersive training that brings together hands-on learning with engaging new digital tools. For example, Cast Members  working at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel learned all about the Marvel Universe and how it fits into this exciting new hotel experience by interacting with a virtual guide that responds to verbal and visual cues to guide them through a fun series of challenges. By working together, Cast learn everything there is to know about this one-of-a-kind hotel and how best to accompany guests throughout their entire stay for an unforgettable visit.

Disney Announces Complete Transformation of Its Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris

Introducing Disney Adventure World.

On its 32nd anniversary, the Disneyland Paris Resort announced a complete reimagining of its Walt Disney Studios Park. The Hollywood-inspired park, which first opened in 2002 and is opposite the main Disneyland Paris park, will undergo a magical makeover and be renamed to Disney Adventure World, the park shared with Travel + Leisure on Friday.

The reimagined park will allow “guests to step into their favorite stories in a uniquely Disney way” and is part of an overall two-billion-euro destination-wide investment which includes new attractions, the ongoing transformation of its on-site hotels, and a reimagining of its entertainment, shopping, and dining district, Disney Village.

“Today, we are changing the story of Walt Disney Studios Park, evolving from ‘how it’s done’ soundstages to celebratory theaters and adventures that come to life in immersive worlds,” Tom Fitzgerald, Walt Disney Imagineering Chief Storytelling Executive and Senior Creative Executive for Disneyland Paris, shared in the press release. “These fully realized adventure worlds will become the focus of the park’s new identity and appear as realms that guests discover as they navigate deeper within the park and are invited to participate in adventures inspired by our most beloved stories.”

Transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney World Adventure will begin this month at its entrance. Park goers will soon encounter a “vibrant, contemporary open-air movie studio before becoming special guests of a glamorous film premiere in the heart of Hollywood on a starry night.” The former entrance, a colorful indoor replica soundstage, will be reimagined, paying homage to historic Hollywood movie theaters, and is set for reopening in Spring 2025.

This “all-new visual identity” will occur in tandem with the opening of Paris' very own World of Frozen — a brand-new immersive land inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen — which has opened in Hong Kong . The land will be situated on the edge of Adventure Bay, a new multi-use 70,000 cubic meter body of water, which will be utilized as a “unique entertainment stage with 360-degree viewing area” and will be complete with a walkable promenade — Adventure Way — to lands throughout the park.

The transformation will also welcome Raiponce Tangled Spin, all-new family attraction inspired by the beloved Disney Animation movie Tangled.

These new guest areas and Frozen -themed land will join the park’s Avengers Campus, which opened in 2022, and Worlds of Pixar, home to fan favorite attraction Ratatouille: The Adventure. According to the release, the completion of this transformation will see the park roughly doubling its footprint, evolving from a half-day park to full-day experience.

The park’s evolution was only natural as it moved towards welcoming guests into “more immersive worlds,” beginning with the 2007 debut of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. “With an unprecedented level of immersion and powerful storytelling, the latest experiences delivered across the park already reflect this new creative vision,” the release states.

“Embracing a transformation that involves the overhaul of more than 90 percent of Walt Disney Studios Park since its debut in 2002, we're unveiling a fresh creative vision that has completely redefined our second gate,” shared Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris. “This significant evolution inspired us to rename the Park, heralding a vibrant new chapter for Disneyland Paris. With our commitment to pushing the boundaries of immersion and innovation, we're crafting breathtaking new experiences and spectacular moments at Disney Adventure World that will resonate more than ever with our guests. It’s set to offer unique adventures in immersive worlds, serving as a perfect complement to Disneyland Park.” No opening date has been announced for the Frozen -themed land or for the completion of the theme park transformation.

The announcement also shared the addition of two new park shows. Inspired by Disney Animation’s Alice in Wonderland , Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland, is an all-new musical set to debut May 25. The end of the year will welcome a brand-new nighttime activation to Avengers Campus that will “combine projections, music and special effects with an all- new storyline, featuring some favorite and new-to-Disneyland Paris Marvel characters.”

This exciting period of unprecedented growth for the resort includes the recent renovation of its flagship accommodations, Disneyland Hotel. The resort’s entertainment district, Disney Village, is also undergoing a complete overhaul that includes the addition of new retail and dining locations, enhanced landscaping, and reimagined facades with a notably more modern look. Another hotel refurbishment project is expected to begin this year at Disney Davy Crockett Ranch that will ultimately provide “a modern and comfortable experience for guests” and see the addition of Disney characters to its décor.
