SREE PARVATHY HOUSEBOATS the Pioneer in Tour Operation during the last 10 Years. We provide a very eco friendly accommodation & backwater cruise in various Deluxe and Luxury Houseboats. We have 1 bedroom houseboat to 6 bedoom houseboats, SREE PARVATHY HOUSEBOATS situated near Pallathuruthy Bridge Alleppey. Traditionally, the houseboats were called Kettuvalom, which means a boat made by tying together pieces of wood. Not a single nail is used in the making of a Kettuvallom.The material used for the making of Kettuvallom is all from the nature-Jack wood planks are joined together with coir ropes and beaten coconut fibres. The wood commonly used to make Kettuvallom is “Anhili”. Bamboo poles, bamboo mats, coir carpets etc is used for the making of Houseboats. These 80 feet long crafts have been adapted into luxuriously furnished houseboats. The interior of the houseboat is really unbelievable – It’s a House on Water! Each houseboat is beautifully decorated with coir mattress on the floor. Houseboats normally have spacious living/dinning area and sun deck. It is attached with toilets, separate toilets for crew. Spacious passage and neat kitchen. Clean towel and blankets are provided. Three workers are appointed on the houseboat, one cook and other two to drive the houseboat. The price of the houseboat varies in every season. For cheap houseboats, the facilities will be cheap and for costly houseboats the facilities will be luxurious. There are One bedroom, Double bedroom and Large boats. Short cruise on backwaters are also available on the smaller boat. Houseboats accommodate group on large boats. The duration of these cruises depends on the routing and can be covered in 3 to 6 hours of time period through backwater. Excellent houseboat experience

We booked an overnight trip on a houseboat from Alleppey and had a fantastic experience. The boat was very luxurious, the staff couldn't do enough for us and the food was delicious. Out boat driver seemed to know just where to go to escape the crowds of houseboats and we parked up for the night in a lovely, quiet location. A real highlight of our trip to Kerala!

We trusted Sree tours for our 5-day family vacation in Kerala. Sree tours took care of all the logistics of our stay and local travel, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. The hotel selection was the best in the class. The Houseboat experience was very relaxing, with their friendly staff taking care of us. The food served on the boat was also very nice. We were able to focus on enjoying the tour and sightseeing, knowing that Sree tours is there to support and help us. We highly recommend Sree tours for a great Kerala experience. Their goal is clearly to take good care of their guests.

Took a 5-6 hour day tour with Srees tours in Nov 2018 and it was one of the highlights of our holidays in Kerala. I communicated with Sree online to organise bookings and he was always punctual and to-the-point in his responses. Took a single bedroom deluxe house boat for 4 people including my 84 year old father and it was spacious, clean and well maintained. The only sour point was the steep stairs to the upper deck - a minor inconvenience really. The food prepared on board will better what is being served in many of the hatted restaurants - it had variety, freshness and mind-boggling taste. The evening snacks of pineapple and banana fritters alongwith coffee/tea left us stuffed with absolutely no room for dinner! The trip itself was eventful...we lazed along the canals, the lake, beside a bird sanctuary and passed a number of houseboats along the way. The pilot of the boat was kind enough to allow me and my daughter to take the steering wheel, albeit for a few seconds (sufficient for a few photographs). Met the owner Sree at the start of the trip and he came across as a down to earth and friendly chap willing to please his customers. Will highly recommend Sree for all your houseboat needs- day tours or overnighters. Will be definitely back.

14N/15 days .We were a group of 6 persons from Mauritius and traveling for the first time to Kochi. From start to finish,Sreetours handled everything professionally .The hotels were perfect/clean.A big thanks to Mrs Reji & Mr Sreekumar.They helped us a lot in planning the trip and gave us good advice.Houseboat experience was wonderful. We had a customized plan of munnar-thekkady-allepy-houseboat-fort kochi. The experience was wonderful. The driver was very good. Arrangements were very nice and we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

These Notorious So-called 'Tourist Traps' Are Worth Visiting, According to Travelers

Ah, the traveler’s debacle: To follow the crowd to major, must-see sights knowing they’ll be met with overpriced services, entertainment, food, and souvenirs — or to avoid these sites completely and search out hidden gems void of other tourists. To some, visiting Paris without going up the Eiffel Tower isn’t seeing Paris , while to others, the complete opposite is true. 

It’s a question — or way of traveling — that isn’t always black-and-white. Most of us want to see the major sites — preferably without giant tour groups and overpriced crêpe stands — and stumble upon authentic places that few others will get to experience. So when is it worth following the crowd to a site you really want to see, even though it’s probably a tourist trap?

One user on Reddit , u/MarathonMarathon, posed that question , noting that for them, the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel in Shanghai was a tourist trap they ended up genuinely liking. “It's basically this short 5-minute tourist trap light show tram thing that takes you across the Huangpu River from the Bund to Pudong, with bizarre voice-overs. Sort of like some Disney attraction, but sadder, the very epitome of a kitsch tourist trap.”

Maid of the Mist Boat Tour — Niagara Falls, U.S.

The 20-minute Maid of the Mist boat tour, which claims to be “the original Niagara Falls boat tour” — takes travelers to the foot of Niagara Falls where they can feel the power of 600,000 gallons of water crashing down and enjoy the resulting mist.

“You wait in line forever, the boat is packed, it seems cheesy ... and then you get up to the Falls and feel their power, you realize that the boat has the engine running at full power yet it struggles against the current and you realize that yeah, this is awesome,” said u/twoeightnine.

Original Sound of Music bus tour — Salzburg, Germany

The Original Sound of Music bus tour takes travelers through Salzburg, where "The Sound of Music" movie was filmed. The bus visits Mirabell Garden and Pegasus Fountain, where Maria and the children danced in the movie; Schloss Leopoldskron, the house, where the Trapp Family lived; and Church Mondsee, where Maria and Baron von Trapp got married, along with other sites.

User u/opuntialantana said the four-hour journey included, “Glorious views, drinks, snacks, and a Maria von Trapp lookalike leading us in singalongs as we drove from one filming location to the next. It was cheesy and it was perfect.”

Hobbiton Movie Set Tours — Matamata, New Zealand

At Hobbiton , visitors can walk through the lush pastures of the Shire and through the movie set used in "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film trilogies. The part-bus, part-walking tour includes visits to the series’ most famous locations, including the Hobbit Hole where Bilbo and Frodo Baggins lived. 

The 2.5-hour tour ends with a visit to the Green Dragon Inn , where a free drink concludes the tour of Middle-earth.

Guinness Storehouse — Dublin

The home of Ireland’s most iconic beer offers daily self-guided tours that include entry to the Guinness tasting rooms and a pint of Guinness. If you’re a true beer or Guinness connoisseur, you can opt for a “ premium experience ,” like a guided tasting with storytelling or a tour through the brewery’s historic sites — including their famous underground tunnels.

“When anyone came to visit [sic] me I always took them there; it never got old! It’s a well-curated museum and of course, the tap room is always fun to go to. Also, all my Irish friends were happy to go with me when I first moved there so it seems to be well-liked among people that live there too,” said u/tcpower2.

Hofbräuhaus München — Munich

Reddit user u/Triple10X said they initially went to Hofbräuhaus München “just to say that we've been there.” But after visiting several smaller German beer halls they felt that Hofbräuhaus was the best. 

The three-floor beer hall has a Bavarian restaurant and ongoing shows that take place in a historic, 16th-century building. According to u/Triple10X, “The food we got was phenomenal, the beer was obviously good and the atmosphere was eclectic with multiple couples around us all talking to each other in different languages.”

Drunk Clearwater captain fell off boat while 30 people were attending tour: Police

Captain accused of boating under the influence.

Clearwater Police say they arrested a boat captain on charges of boating under the influence after he fell off the vessel as 30 people were taking a tour.

CLEARWATER, Fla. - A 53-year-old boat captain was arrested and charged with boating under the influence on Friday afternoon, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

Witnesses told law enforcement that John Edward Beckwith, the captain of the Clearwater Fun Boat, was impaired to the point where he fell off the vessel just before 2 p.m. Police say when they spoke to employees on the boat they were told that Beckwith arrived at work stumbling and had food all over his face.

According to officers, the boat Beckwith was working on had 30 people attending a boat tour.

Authorities say Beckwith performed poorly on the field sobriety exercises and provided a breath sample of 0.118 and 0.115. The blood alcohol limit for boating is 0.08 in Florida.

Clearwater police say Beckwith's breath smelled like alcohol, he was unbalanced, and his eyes were bloodshot.

Beckwith has prior DUI convictions in Michigan and Arizona, according to law enforcement.

Officials say the incident is being investigated by the Clearwater Police Department and the Coast Guard.

Clearwater Beach tour boat captain was drunk on the job, fell off boat, police say

A tour boat captain stumbled into work on Clearwater Beach, voyaged out to sea and drunkenly fell overboard, police said.

John Beckwith, 53, was arrested Friday on a charge of boating under the influence. The captain for Clearwater Fun Boat Tours had 30 customers on board, some telling police he was so impaired he fell off the boat.

Employees told Clearwater police Beckwith “arrived to work stumbling and had food all over his face,” according to an arrest report.

Officers noticed his eyes were bloodshot and they smelled alcohol on his breath. Beckwith “performed poorly” on a field sobriety test and blew a 0.118 on a breathalyzer, which is over the 0.08 level at which Florida law says someone is impaired.

Beckwith was released Saturday afternoon without being required to post bail. The incident is Beckwith’s fourth charge for operating a vehicle while impaired, records show. He was convicted twice in Michigan and again for an “extreme DUI” in Arizona.

The Clearwater Beach tour provides customers a chance to spot dolphins playing in the waves “while indulging in a delicious ice cream sundae” on a “family-friendly boat,” according to the company’s website . Last year, it was awarded Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award, the website states.

Neither Beckwith nor a representative for the tour boat company could be reached by phone for comment.
