The best iPhone VR apps: lose yourself in a virtual world

iOS apps to take you on an immersive adventure

iPhone X

Apple doesn’t make a virtual reality (VR) headset yet, although we know it’s been experimenting with the technology for years. But that doesn’t mean you need to wait for iGlasses in order to enjoy VR apps on your iPhone.

There are plenty of iPhone VR apps in the App Store, and provided you’re wearing a suitable headset you can have all the fun of VR with iPhones from the iPhone SE onwards.

The cheapest entry point to VR is Google Cardboard , but if you’re feeling flush the Zeiss VR One offers a much more premium experience.

Whatever headset you opt for, it’s just a matter of slotting in your iPhone, sticking it on your face and enjoying the ride. Here are the VR experiences you’ll want to check out first.

  • Google Cardboard

Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test.

The Google Cardboard app does two things. It shows you how to set up your Google Cardboard headset correctly, and it includes five VR experiences that give you a flavour of what phone-based VR can deliver.

Those experiences’ names give you a pretty good idea what to expect, so for example Explorer enables you to explore virtual places, Exhibit shows you around a virtual museum, Urban Hike is a walk through various world cities and Arctic Journey, which enables you to relax underneath the Northern Lights or create your own flower garden. There’s also Kaleidoscope, which breaks the mould by having nothing to do with kaleidoscopes. We’re kidding. It’s a kaleidoscope.

The real-world images of places such as the Eiffel Tower have the most obvious ‘wow’ factor, but it’s the imaginary ones that are often more fun: for all its engineering excellence the Tower really needs to be seen in the metal to appreciate just how mind-bogglingly big it is.

YouTube

Cardboard isn’t the only Google property that’s doing things in VR. The main YouTube app is doing it too. It has a VR mode that enables you to do two things: enjoy 360-degree videos in full VR, or experience normal videos on a virtual screen.

If you’ve used a PlayStation VR you might have encountered that second option already: like on PSVR the effect is rather like trying to watch a flat-screen TV that somebody’s stuck on a wobbly spike.

While the novelty of watching YouTube on a virtual screen wears off quickly, there’s tons of really good stuff to watch on the Youtube Virtual Reality Channel. Do you want to get up close with Maroon 5? Of course you don’t. Nobody does. But you don’t have to. You can experience skydives and Porsche driving, wild river kayaking and indie bands’ front rooms. As with all YouTube channels there’s some awful stuff there, but there are some real gems too.

Free (in-app purchases)

This one is augmented reality rather than virtual reality, but it’s so good we wanted you to know about it. Bookful presents beautiful books over whatever your camera sees, and those books are both three-dimensional and interactive – so pop-up books really pop, enabling you to swipe and zoom and tap to explore the story. Many of the books also come with augmented reality games, enabling you to have fun playing space golf on the surface of Mars, which just happens to be on top of your sofa.

Although the app isn’t aimed specifically at children it’s the kids books that really shine on the platform: even the most familiar tales such as Jack and The Beanstalk feel shiny and new in Augmented Reality, and the mini-games aren’t going to keep adults entertained for too long. For parents, though, Bookful is a really great augmented reality app.

Google Street View

  • Google Street View

Remember when Google Street View made you feel like some kind of spy, wandering through streets from the comfort of your chair? Now you can feel like some kind of spy with a phone clamped to their head.

The dedicated Street View map has a Cardboard Mode – the icon appears when you rotate your phone into landscape mode – that enables you to experience Photo Spheres in virtual reality. That means you can use your VR headset to mooch around Machu Picchu, traipse around the Taj Mahal, bounce around Bora-Bora and see any city you fancy.

It’s good fun and potentially useful for planning travel: there’s something about seeing a place in 360-degree glory that makes it more interesting than scrolling around the same thing in two dimensions. It’s just a shame that, like the rest of Street View, the imagery isn’t live. That would feel like teleporting.

  • Inception: VR and 360 Videos

From the same developer as the superb Bookful augmented reality app above, Inception delivers “virtual reality experiences”. It’s a small collection so far but what’s there is very impressive: there’s a VR music video featuring Mac Demarco’s music and visuals from acclaimed multimedia artist Rachel Rossin, the Asteroids VR adventure (which you’ll also find on other VR services) and the Dreams of Dali 360-degree art exhibition.

Some of the latter is a bit reminiscent of late-90s chill-out videos, but it’s a great way to experience Dali’s style in a whole new dimension. Somewhat less enticingly, the app also offers a “VR exploration” of the Playboy Mansion in which you battle the body of the late Hugh Hefner. We made that last bit up: the app’s real, though.

Within

Within isn’t so much a VR experience as a platform for VR experiences, and it’s aiming much higher than the usual bits of VR shovelware. Recent releases include Tokyo Light Odyssey, a heavily stylized and deeply immersive ambient cityscape; Dolphin Man, which unfortunately for us isn’t a superhero film but a serious and beautiful undersea scene; Asteroids, a Sundance-wowing animation from the director of Madagascar; and Look But With Love, a journey into Pakistan’s land of Sindh and its music and poetry.

Some of it’s a bit worthy for our tastes, but with a collection ranging from U2 performing in 360-degrees to documentaries about Amazonian deforestation there’s an ambition here that’s lacking from some of the other VR champions. That’s reflected in the range of organisations that have partnered with it: world-famous newspapers, brands such as Sony and Samsung and content studios such as Universal and NBC.

NYT VR

You don’t tend to think of newspapers as being at the cutting edge of tech but from the internet to social media news brands have often been among the first to wonder to what uses new technology can be put. The NYT is no exception and here it’s experimenting with VR as another way to tell stories.

Don’t expect a newspaper-style publishing cycle – new videos are uploaded “every month or so” – but this is a case of quality over quantity with high production values, superb storytelling and award-winning content. Recent examples include being embedded with Iraqi forces fighting ISIS in Fallujah, climbing the spire of the World Trade Center with professional mountaineer Jimmy Chin and the chance to explore the faraway wastes of Pluto.

The NYT has rightly focused on “places you can’t normally go”, enabling you not just to read and hear about those places but to experience them yourself. It’s very impressive.

best virtual tour app for iphone

  • Fulldive VR

Designed for Google Cardboard, Fulldive VR describes itself as a “social all-in-one VR platform”: it’s effectively an attempt to make a specific YouTube for VR content, with all content uploaded by users and available for sharing, commenting on and interacting with. The main draw here is the massive library of 360-degree videos, but it’s a decent front-end for a wide range of other content providers such as YouTube.

It also includes a VR video player that you can use to pretend your own videos are being shown in a movie theater, with similar features for your photo library and internet browsing. The latter’s a gimmick rather than anything useful: if you’ve ever tried using the web browser on a PlayStation you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.

We think Fulldive’s best suited to those times when you want to watch something but you don’t know what you want to watch: because it draws from multiple sources as well as its own users, it’s a good way to stumble on interesting VR content.

Discovery VR

  • Discovery VR

Let’s face it. You and me, we’re nothing but mammals, so let’s do VR like they do on the Discovery Channel. The Discovery VR app comes from the same people who brought you Shark Week, Week of Sharks, Seven Days of Shark and many other shark-related programmes, and naturally that means you’ll be able to see sharks in the channels VR app too.

Not only that but you can experience the odd bit of content that doesn’t include sharks at all, such as Samurai sword fights, Dublin street dancing, and rhino rescues. There’s even footage of rollercoasters. Rollercoasters! Imagine finding them in a VR app!

The app is pretty much what you’d expect from a big brand, with nice design, good quality video and a good selection of content. There’s also an offline mode so you don’t need to stream in areas you can’t get a signal.

  • The Guardian VR

Following in the footsteps of the New York Times, the Guardian’s VR app “fuses journalism with innovative storytelling” - and so far unlike the newspaper’s normal app it doesn’t ask you for money every 30 seconds.

The app, which has been developed for Google Cardboard, promises a range of content including virtual tours of far-off places and interactive experiences such as the harrowing 6x9, which enables you to experience what it’s like to be in solitary confinement.

6x9 is also available on YouTube, but it’s the immersion of VR that really makes it hit home: the stories you’ll hear and the facts displayed on the cell walls are all the more powerful when you’re actually in the cell and not just watching it from afar. We’re hoping the Guardian’s initial enthusiasm for VR doesn’t wear off, as this has the potential to be a very interesting use of Virtual Reality.

InCell VR

In the famous film Fantastic Voyage, a team of scientists were shrunk down so they could explore the insides of the human body in a little submarine. Now you can do the same without any scientists, and unlike in the film you’re not going to be pummelled by platelets or beaten by blood cells or see your submarine smashed to bits. Primarily because you don’t have a submarine.

We’ve included this as an app although technically it’s a game because it’s not really much of a game and it’s quite a good science app: it takes place inside a virtual model of the human body, and as you race around the place collecting points you get to learn the different components of the cell. It plays rather like Wipeout, but with microbiology instead of hovering space cars and with levels called things like ‘Mitochondrion’. That, of course, is a double-membrane-bound organelle found in most eukaryotic organisms.

InMind 2 VR

  • InMind 2 VR

Like InCell, InMind is billed as a game but it’s quite educational too. It all takes place inside the brain of a teenager called John, and as John experiences different emotions you can see how the various chemicals combine to create and communicate those moods. If that sounds a bit worthy… well… it is.

John appears to be quite spectacularly dull and there are a couple of wrong notes such as John imagining having a whole bunch of guns "to protect the country from its hidden enemies", which makes you wonder if his future involves going up a watchtower with an AK-47. However, the in-brain stuff is genuinely thrilling as neurotransmitters ping and tendrils pulse like plants in some kind of bizarre alien space forest.

Visually it’s often very beautiful, and we’d be quite happy to have the gameplay elements and voiceover removed so we could simply float around in John’s brain juice. Which sounds bad, we know.

  • War of Words VR

War of Words is really something. Designed for the usual range of VR headsets, the first BBC VR app takes Siegfried Sassoon’s poem The Kiss and transports you to The Somme during the First World War.

The app enables you to follow the path of a rifle bullet, leading to the second part of the poem where you’ll discover what “the kiss” of the title really is. It’s very moving and a vivid illustration of how VR can be used to shed new light on familiar things, and it’s interesting to see technology that’s often used to glorify war used to provide a completely different perspective.

The app was produced to promote War of Words – Soldier-poets of The Somme, a BBC documentary in which other war poems were animated to equally devastating effect. Those animations are still available online (in normal video) in The Somme In Seven Poems .

VR Roller Coaster

  • VR Roller Coaster

There’s an unwritten law about virtual reality that says if a device can do it, it must have a rollercoaster app. And the iPhone has many rollercoaster apps, of which this is one of the better efforts, primarily because it doesn’t interrupt you with ads every three feet of virtual travel.

VR Roller Coaster is based in a vast, randomly generated city so it’s different every time you open the app, and the two rollercoasters it offers do everything you’d expect with steep climbs and vertiginous drops and a lot of frankly unnecessary screaming. Quite brilliantly it supports the iPad too, which is great news for that huge demographic of people with necks like tree trunks who try phone-based VR and bellow “MORE WEIGHT! I NEED MORE WEIGHT ON MY FACE!” before smashing stacks of breeze blocks with their foreheads.

Roller Coaster VR

  • Roller Coaster VR

Not to be confused with VR Roller Coaster, which as the name suggests is completely different in every single way, Roller Coaster VR brings the hitherto unexplored world of the fairground roller coaster to virtual reality. Like other roller coaster apps Roller Coaster VR promises thrills and indeed spills, but this app also promises “an incredibly emotional adventure.” We’re not convinced that it does, but it does deliver a lush, vibrant tropical landscape where you can go up, down and round and round.

It looks and is indeed described as a virtual reality game, but there’s no gameplay beyond looking at things. There’s no attempt at realism here – you half expect Lara Croft to overtake you on a mining wagon – but that’s not really the point. It’s a thrill ride and it’s good fun until the freemium bit stops and the ads take over.

How i keep my devices online during an internet outage, if you're a gamer not using this site, you're missing out.

One of the good things to come out of the COVID pandemic and social distancing was the rise of virtual tourism. From the comfort of your home, you can travel the world for free through your TV, your phone, or your computer, as these amazing virtual tour apps show.

With the growing demand for virtual travel, tour makers have gotten more creative too. You'll find walking tours, driving tours, and even drone tours now, with add-ons like a local radio station playing in the background or a chance to interact with tour guides and your "co-travelers".

1. Heygo (Web): Live Virtual Tours to Interact With Tour Guides and Cowatchers

Heygo gets as close as virtually possible to the real experience of sightseeing with a tour guide. The website hosts live virtual tours from around the globe, hosted by a guide, which anyone can join for free. All you need for access is to register on the site.

As a registered user, you can join one live tour at a time, played out on full screen on your computer. The guides live-stream their tour and speak into the camera just like it would be in real life. You can also chat with fellow watchers, and interact with the tour guide to ask questions or request them to change angles or stay at a spot long enough so you can "take photos" in the form of a screenshot. In the end, you can also tip the tour guide to support them directly.

Apart from live tours, Heygo also stores all previous virtual tours for you to browse. You can find them by categories (history, architecture, culture, museums, etc.) or location, and check the most popular Heygo tours too. The calendar lists upcoming live tours in case you want to plan it as an activity and join for what is truly one of the best free virtual travel experiences .

2. 4K Walk , 4K Urban Life , and ProWalk Tours (YouTube): 4K Street-View Walks of Major Cities

If you've got a big-screen 4K TV at home, then these YouTube channels have a treat for you. All three channels shoot 4K videos of walking tours through major cities and tourist destinations, all available for free.

These offer a great leanback experience of slow virtual tourism. You could even create a playlist and set it as background viewing, while you go about your day.

  • 4K Walk shoots slow-walking tours through real cities, and uploads the full video unedited and without cuts.
  • 4K Urban Life mixes things up in the shooting experience. While there are some walking tours, you'll also find driving tours, full-city exploring guides, and videos where a camera is placed in a couple of busy spots of a city to observe its life, switching between these three.
  • ProWalk Tours is the most professional "tour" experience of these, offering 4K videos of walking tours, drone tours, and scooter tours. In several videos, you'll also find captions to read about the city while the tour captures its sights and sounds. On a big screen, it's an excellent virtual travel experience to enjoy with your family .

3. Walk With Feel and Drive & Listen (Web): Virtual Tours With Local Radio

Two virtual tour apps are trying something creative to enhance the feel of local travel by adding a local radio station as the background sound. It's a novel idea that adds a charm.

Walk With Feel is a walking tour through major cities in the world, while Drive & Listen puts you in a car's view as it travels through a city. The latter also includes a map of the city to show where and how you are moving. The local radio adds to the feel, as that's what you would do in a car.

In both apps, you can control the speed of walking and car by choosing between 1x, 1.5x, and 2x. You can also switch street noise on and off, depending on how much you're enjoying the feel of the radio. Once you've chosen your settings, look for the tiny icon to switch off the menu overlay and enjoy the full-screen experience.

4. Tab WIth a View (Chrome): Virtual Travel Inspiration in New Tab

With Tab With a View, every time you open a new tab in Chrome, you'll be greeted by a photo or video of a gorgeous place that you should travel to. Sometimes, you'll also find live streaming webcams from real people's windows, which is one of the coolest ways to virtually travel the world.

For every location, Tab With a View gives you additional information. You'll see whether a virtual tour is available on Google Maps, and if a drone view is available on Google Earth. It also marks whether you need a visa to visit that place, and what the trip would cost. If you like something, add it to your wishlist so that you don't lose it.

Tab With a View also focuses on productivity and isn't just trying to distract you. You can add a google search bar, your most visited websites, and your bookmarks bar into the app's dashboard interface so that you don't miss the conveniences of the default New Tab page in Chrome.

Download: Tab With a View for Chrome (Free)

5. Gez.la and Virtouroso (Web): Directories of Matterport and Other Virtual Tours

Gez.la and Virtouroso curate the best free online virtual tours you can go on. This includes virtual museums you can visit from home , nature trails, zoos, historical places, and live webcams of interesting spots or animals.

Virtouroso's interface has five dropdown columns to choose from museums, historical sites, nature and science, land animal cams, and sea animal cams. Gez.La hosts a directory listing 152 interesting places to travel to virtually, which you can filter by type (aquarium, historical, museum, nature, theme park, zoo) and country. You can also browse pins on the world map.

A large number of these virtual tours are made by Matterport and will work on the Matterport mobile app too. For those who don't know, Matterport is one of the best apps to create virtual tours and is used extensively by some of the top travel video makers.

Physical Travel or Virtual Tourism? It's Not a Choice

As you can see, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to the buffer of virtual tours available for free. But you might hear a voice saying, "Well, it's not like the real thing." And that's true, physical travel still remains a more immersive experience.

But the folly is in thinking it's a choice between physical travel and virtual tourism. It's not. You can do both, and enjoy both differently for what they represent. Even if virtual travel isn't as good as the real-world experience, that doesn't mean it's a bad experience. Try it out, and you might find a new hobby and a way to explore the world, especially when you have to avoid crowds.

The best VR apps for travel

Travel the earth from your easy chair with these 11 vr apps and sites.

best VR apps for travel vr headset

This isn’t a far-off technology, either. There are several virtual travel apps already available, and companies such as Qantas, British Airways, and Marriott have already started experimenting with it as a marketing tool. On the consumption end, YouTube and Facebook are just a handful of the major sites that now support 360-degree content.

But even if you have no plans to physically go anywhere, VR is a fantastic video-based medium for armchair wanderlust. It takes the Google Street View approach of dragging your mouse around 360-degree photos, and transforms it into an immersive experience in which you can explore those environments in greater detail. You can travel to places you may never be able to go (or want to), including destinations that are off-limits to tourists or simply dangerous. And when you add narration from a tour guide to those videos, the experience becomes that much greater.

While video resolution quality isn’t there yet — depending on the production quality, viewing through VR goggles and headsets can be nauseating — it’s getting better. As we experienced back in 2015 with Marriott’s “VRoom Service,” using the  Samsung Gear VR , the audio-visual “sensory experience” did make us feel as if we’re there (pardon the cliché). Expect to see more content uploaded in the near future, including a mix of professional, high-quality videos and those shot by consumers on their phones or cameras.

So if you’ve purchased a VR headset with your new Galaxy phone, or were sent a cardboard viewer as part of a promotion , here are a few sites and apps that will give you a taste of virtual travel.

Google Earth VR

Have you ever wanted to fly around the world? Google Earth’s VR app for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive does that and so much more  — virtually, of course. Google Earth VR starts you off in space, but you can zoom in on any part of the globe and, within seconds, you’ll have a bird’s eye view of the locale in question. With a simple long press and drag of your controller, you can fly from the top of the Eiffel Tower to the inside of Disney World — and it happens quicker than you might expect.

If you need inspiration for your next adventure, Google provides tours of famous landmarks, along with themed destinations. You can even go from day to night — just point to the sky and swipe. You can also type in an address and Google Earth VR will transport you to said destination, where you can capture and save snapshots of what you see.

In Boulevard (formerly WoofbertVR), you can explore 3D renderings of various museums and cultural sites located throughout England and San Francisco. However, the app allows you to do more than merely look around. You can access a virtual tablet with the tap of a button, which will provide you with textual information on what you are looking at and allow you to to take a brief audio tour. It can even show you which exhibits you can further engage with.

For instance, if you tap on Édouard Manet’s famous 19th century painting,  A Bar at the Folies-Bergère , you’ll be transported beyond the frame and into an animated reimagining of the events depicted in the painting. Or, if you tap on a 1969 photo of painter Helen Frankenthaler, you’ll be able to walk around a 3D rendering of her minimalist workspace, giving you the feeling you just stepped into a memory. If you’re looking to indulge in fine art on your next trip abroad, Boulevard might be right up your ally.

Virtual reality has turned photo galleries into 3D experiences. Gala360 consists of a collection of shots culled from professional photographers, all of which allow you to examine events, museums, landmarks, and different locales with a mere swipe of your finger.

You can walk around and explore the cavernous lava tubes of Hawaii, for example, or take in the breathtaking views of Yosemite National Park. Certain experiences even have audio commentary, providing you further context about what you’re seeing as you scroll through the app’s various photos. Many of these experiences are free, though, premium content will cost you a $1 a month.

Lufthansa #TravelCompass

For its YouTube page, German airliner Lufthansa created several 360-degree on-location videos in Beijing, Hong Kong, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo. Each 46-minute clip lets you pan around a notable area in each of those cities, such as Wan Chai Street Market in Hong Kong or Lombard Street in San Francisco. You don’t need a VR viewer, although it’s more immersive if you use the YouTube Android app with Google Cardboard viewer.

Action cam maker GoPro is getting into the VR game in a big way. Its Odyssey uses 16 Hero4 Black  cameras to capture an 8K panoramic video, and its consumer-friendly 360 camera, the Fusion , is coming soon. Of course, GoPro’s videos are short of amazing, and its 360-degree ones are no exception. From surfing in Tahiti to riding a BMW bike on the rooftops of Gran Canaria and inside an Indycar over the Golden Gate Bridge. Check out the personal New York City tour with photographer and Instagrammer, Neil Britto. GoPro won’t be the only big camera company getting into VR: Samsung ,  Nikon , and Ricoh all have 360 cameras, and we can expect to see content from them. The New York Times, for example, has a series of 360-degree videos created using the Samsung Gear 360.

Chances are, most of us will never experience space travel in our lifetime, let alone journey to Mars. Thanks to thousands of images that have been transmitted back to Earth from its Sojourner and Curiosity rovers, NASA was able to put together 360-degree videos and images of what walking on Mars would be like. The most recent panorama comes from the Curiosity Mars Rover, from a site known as Ogunquit Beach .

As its name would suggest, Ascape is a VR app that’s dedicated entirely to travel. Available as an app for both Android or iOS, and viewable on a phone or VR viewer, Ascape has a bunch of 360-degree video and photo tours — from the Star Wars parade at Disneyland Hong Kong to reindeer racing in Norway — and are neatly categorized (called “collections”). You will need to download each experience, which could take up a chunk of space on your phone.

Littlstar is a VR “cinema network” hosting a variety of 360-degree photos and videos, available on the web or via its app for Android or iOS. Its aerial and travel categories contain numerous content from around the world, including videos from Discovery and National Geographic. When you’re looked through all the travel videos, check out the many others, including tech, sports, cars, and fashion.

Like Littlstar, YouVisit lets you experience its content on the web (through a web browser or the Oculus Rift) or with a VR headset via its app for iPhone or Android . YouVisit has a variety of interesting travel-related 360-degree photos and videos, from the Ayautthaya temples of Thailand to the Louvre Museum in Paris and helicopter ride over New York City. You can even get onboard the Carnival Breeze and explore the different parts of the cruise ship.

Wild Within

Destination B.C., an agency that promotes tourism in Canada’s British Columbia, launched a virtual reality experience called “ Wild Within ,” which explores the natural areas of this western province. In the videos, the viewer travels through the Broughton Archipelago of the Great Bear Rainforest, but has the option of taking one of two paths — the coastline or up a mountain. Wild Within was first developed for the Oculus Rift on a desktop, but it’s now available as an app for iOS or Android .

Discovery is one of the major media companies to dive into virtual reality. Last August, it launched its Discovery VR initiative  that lets users experience TV shows like Gold Rush , Survivorman , Puppy Bowl , and MythBusters , in an immersive manner. Besides exploring the exotic locales, you can swim with sharks, ski downhill with Bode Miller, or learn to forage for food, for example. Discovery VR content can be watched online, but it’s best via a phone and Google Cardboard or similar viewer, or Samsung Gear VR (via Oculus store).

Update: Added Boulevard, Gala360, and Google Earth VR.

As much as we love having the best smartphones in our pockets, there are times when those small screens don't cut it and we just need a larger display. That's when you turn to a tablet, which is great for being productive on the go and can be a awesome way to unwind and relax too. While the tablet market really took off after the iPad, it has grown to be quite diverse with a huge variety of products — from great budget options to powerhouses for professionals.

We've tried out a lot of tablets here at Digital Trends, from the workhorses for pros to tablets that are made for kids and even seniors -- there's a tablet for every person and every budget. For most people, though, we think Apple's iPad Air is the best overall tablet — especially if you're already invested in the Apple ecosystem. But if you're not an Apple user, that's fine too; there are plenty of other great options that you'll find in this roundup.

Ready for the Meta Quest 4? Considering how big of an upgrade the Quest 3 was when it launched in 2023, Meta’s next release could have amazing new features that end up making it one of the best VR headsets yet.

Meta is still probably a couple of years out from releasing the successor to the Quest 3, but with all the new competition, it's worth considering what to expect. There haven't been many rumors yet, but here's what hope to see in the Meta Quest 4. Quest 4 launch date The Meta Quest 3 (left) and Quest Pro Alan Truly / Digital Trends

Apple products come loaded with software designed to work seamlessly with the macOS operating system. For example, Safari is the default software used to load websites, Preview is used to view pictures, and Pages will open documents. But if you're not a fan of the built-in software, Apple doesn't lock you into using it. However, you'll need to know exactly where to look if you want to change the default apps on a Mac.

Thankfully, the process is largely the same whether you're running macOS Sonoma 14, Ventura 13, or other macOS versions. It's also easy to reverse the process and go back to using default apps.

Technology continues to make travel easier for millions of people around the globe. New apps offer travelers fresh ways to research a destination, connect with fellow globetrotters, communicate with locals, and track their flights. As a full-time digital nomad , I’ve learned the importance of having the right tools at your disposal when on the road.

Over the past few years, I’ve visited dozens of countries, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, and tested countless apps to find the ones that prove to be the most helpful. And while tools like Meetup, Google Maps, Google Translate, currency converters, and vacation rental , airline, and hotel–specific apps are in fact indispensable on most trips, I find that many of the best travel apps are still undiscovered by my fellow travelers.

Below, seven travel apps that make life on the go markedly easier (and more fun), from real-time flight trackers to photo-sharing gems—all of these apps are free, but some have paid pro versions worth considering. Don’t think these apps are only for full-time travelers—they prove useful for every type of traveler, whether you're in a brand-new destination or back for a return visit.

Discover the best apps for travelers:

Apps for flying, apps for exploring, apps for photo sharing.

Image may contain: Aircraft, Airliner, Airplane, Transportation, Vehicle, and Flight

My favorite app on this list is Flighty, a must-have for any frequent flier . The free version is fantastic, but I recommend splurging for the premium version, which gives you even more useful information and comes at a reasonable cost of $48 per year. The functionality it provides more than justifies the price.

The free version allows you to input all future flights plus past journeys you've taken within the last year. It provides updated information if any schedule changes occur to upcoming flights and allows you to track all the miles you’ve flown in one place.

The other main benefit is that it allows you to share your flight information with friends and family members who are also on Flighty. They will receive real-time updates about your flight without you having to text them. My parents love to make sure I’m safe so they appreciate getting detailed information about my travels—even while I’m in the air.

Image may contain: Gun, Weapon, Shooting, and Spiral

Flightradar24 is a favorite app among fellow aviation geeks. It lets you track almost any aircraft you see in the air throughout the day or night. You can track your own flight, a friend's flight, or any plane you see in real-time. It shares plenty of cool data, like the altitude, speed, arrival and departure airports and times, and tail number.

Image may contain: Logo, and First Aid

There are tons of eSIM apps on the market, but Airalo is probably my favorite, with digital SIM cards available for dozens of countries. I find it to be the most reliable and offers the best data packages. It can be a little pricey, but it is the best option if you’re only taking short trips. Holafly is another eSIM app that offers unlimited data and works well, but I find the app to be much more glitchy than Airalo and would recommend using the desktop version.

Image may contain: Symbol, First Aid, Text, and Logo

This one is for the planner of the group. Wanderlog merges the best of a bunch of different apps into one. Imagine an app that lets you plan a trip with ease: collaborate with friends as if you’re on Google Docs, manage expense tracking like Splitwise, and have a central place for your reservations, checklists, and more. Tripit is a similar travel planner app, so you can download both and get a feel for which interface you like better.

Image may contain: Paper, and Ice

Been allows you to track the countries you’ve visited and make a wish list of places you can’t wait to cross off your travel bucket list . It gives you information like the percentage of the globe you’ve been to and shows you a world map of your trips. It’s always fun to add in a new country whenever I reach my destination.

Image may contain: Sign, Symbol, Road Sign, and Weapon

This app was introduced to me by fellow nomads I met at a cafe in Montevideo, Uruguay . It automatically tracks your route across the world, allowing you to quickly upload pictures throughout your travels that can be viewed by anyone who has access to your profile. It’s an excellent way to share important moments with loved ones without needing to send photos to each person individually. Users can also create easily accessible guides filled with up-to-date information to help you plan your own trip.

Image may contain: Logo, and Disk

Steller is another app that a friend recently introduced me to, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with it. It uses a combination of AI and user experiences to help you plan trips around the globe. From recommendations of things to see, like the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires or the Royal Palace of Naples, to full guidebooks created by users, you can get inspired, book experiences, and discover hidden gems within this app.

How to make a Virtual Tour with your iPhone

Do you want to create a virtual tour but don’t have the money to buy a fancy camera? Or maybe you’re just not sure how to use one? In this blog post, we will show you how to make a virtual tour with your iPhone!

It’s actually very easy and doesn’t require any expensive equipment. You will be able to create an amazing virtual tour of a home or property using nothing more than your iPhone and some free apps.

So read on for instructions on how to get started!

What is the difference between a virtual tour and a video tour?

When you can’t visit a house in person, it is possible to do it “virtually”.

Some real estate tours are recorded and posted on the internet, and others are done “live” by an agent with a cellphone at the house.

The virtual tour can be used as a video or pictures.

A virtual tour is a recording of a real estate property that can be viewed on the internet. It usually consists of several still images or videos that are put together to create a virtual walkthrough of the property.

Virtual tours are becoming increasingly popular because they allow potential buyers to get a better sense of a property before they even step foot inside. They are also a great marketing tool for real estate agents.

A video tour is similar to a virtual tour, but it is usually just one continuous video that gives the viewer an overview of the property. Video tours are often shorter and less detailed than virtual tours.

Video tours are typically done “live” by an agent showing a house. They typically use their cell phone and do a video call or something similar while they walk around the house.

Who watches video or virtual tours?

Perhaps someone is relocating to a new city and wants to see what their options are before making the big move. Or maybe they’re interested in purchasing a vacation home but can’t take the time to travel there right now. Whatever the reason, virtual tours are a great way to get an up-close and personal look at a property without ever having to step foot inside.

I’ve watched the behavior of dozens of different homebuyers as they search for their new home on-line.

When a buyer finds a home they are interested in, they begin to do a deep dive on the property, learning as much as possible as they can.

They will search the web using the address and scroll several pages deep to find unique and trustworthy information on the property they are interested in.

In addition to the search, many people will also use google street view.

Using Google Street View app to look at Houses

Google street view is an amazing project. They have hired thousands of people to walk the streets of every town in the world with special cameras that capture panoramic images.

Then the software engineers at Google stitch all these images together

If you are interested in learning more about the project, here is their description . Otherwise, just visit maps.google.com on your laptop and type in the address of interest.

In the lower right corner of the map is a little orange figure.

Simply drag that figure onto the exact location of the map you are interested in and you will be taken to street view.

If you are on a cell phone I recommend downloading the Google Maps App. While it is possible to use the internet browser as a better experience is with the Google street view app.

There are 3 Different kinds of virtual tours

A virtual tour allows a homebuyer to tour any home, anywhere, at any time.

There are three primary kinds of virtual tours based on the kind of cameras used to make them

  • Still photos
  • Video camera
  • 3-D camera/scanner

Still Photo Virtual Tour

The most common virtual tour is one made with still photos. You can use any digital camera to make this kind of virtual tour, but we will focus on how to do it using an iPhone camera.

Here are the steps you need to follow:

Find a property that you want to create a virtual tour for. This can be your own home, or a friend’s home, or even a property that you are thinking of buying.

Start by taking a few pictures of the outside of the property. Include any special features like gardens, pools, or sculptures. Then move inside and take photos of each room. Try to get a variety of angles and shots so that viewers will get a good sense of the space.

Once you have all of your photos, it’s time to start putting them together into a virtual tour. You can do this using any photo editing software, but we recommend using iMovie. This is a free app that you can download from the App Store.

How to Make a Virtual Tour with iPhone

After you have captured your images or movies on your phone they are stored in the camera roll in the photos app. There is no need to save image to any specific place.

A great feature is that when you use iMovie the photos are automatically linked to the app.

Open iMovie and create a new project. Then start adding your photos to the project, one by one. You can add music or narration if you want, but it’s not necessary.

I like to use the Ken Burns effect which adds a zoom or pan effect to each image. This helps provide some motion to the video, and makes it more interesting.

You can also use music or even a voice-over to narrate the tour. This can all be done through the free iMovie app.

Once you have all of your photos in the project, export it as a video. This will create a virtual tour that you can share with anyone on Youtube, Instagram, or even by email. If you have a Real Estate Blog , this is a great way to create content for your listings.

If you have an iPhone, this entire process can be completed with the pre-installed and free software from Apple. Nothing else is needed, and the results can look professional.

Video Camera Virtual Tour

If you want to take your virtual tours to the next level, you can use a video camera instead of still photos. This will allow you to create a more immersive experience for viewers, and gives you the ability to add things like sound and narration.

The best part is that you don’t need an expensive video camera to do this. You can use the iPhone that you already have!

Here’s how

First, find a property that you want to create a virtual tour for. This can be your own home, or a friend’s home, or even a property that you are thinking of buying.

Start by taking a few videos of the outside of the property. Include any special features like gardens, pools, or sculptures. Then move inside and take videos of each room. Try to get a variety of angles and shots so that viewers will get a good sense of the space.

For a better video, hold your phone in landscape mode instead of portrait – this way you create a video that covers the entire screen. Just turn your phone 90-degrees and record as usual.

Once you have all of your videos, it’s time to start putting them together into a virtual tour. You can do this using any video editing software, but we recommend using iMovie. This is a free app that you can download from the App Store.

Open iMovie and create a new project. Then start adding your videos to the project, one by one. You can add music or narration if you want, but it’s not necessary.

I like to keep my video virtual tours to around 4-7 minutes to keep the viewer’s attention. Faster and you risk showing all the details. and if it is much longer you may lose your viewer’s attention.

These videos can then be uploaded to YouTube or hosted on Google Drive.

3-D Virtual Tour

For the highest quality most professional video tours, you can create a 3-D virtual tour. This method uses virtual reality and is the closest thing to actually being there, and allows viewers to explore the space in a way that is not possible with traditional photos or videos.

For this type of tour you do need a special camera. The current industry standard for 3-D Virtual Tours is the Matterport system.

This is a camera that captures both photos and 3-D data, which is then used to create an interactive 3-D model.

Using Matterport to create virtual home tours.

If you are serious about virtual tours, then the Matterport system is definitely worth considering. It’s not cheap, but it will allow you to create virtual tours that are truly unique and will wow your viewers.

The Matterport system also can create a detailed floor plan of the property, and even calculate the square feet measurements of the home.

This type of your can be viewed on a computer or mobile phone, but for the best experience using a VR headset like the Occulus is recommended.

Do you need special virtual tour software?

Depending on the type of virtual tour you are making, it probably isn’t necessary to purchase or download any special virtual tour software.

You can use any video conferencing software you like.

Some examples are:

  • What’sApp

All of these are free downloads from the app store.

When I perform a video tour for a client, I always ask what their preferred method is. I then accommodate their request using that program.

Each of these, as well as many others, are available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Final Thoughts

There you have it – 3 ways to create virtual tours that will give your viewers a new way to experience your properties.

You don’t need special virtual tour software, and any real estate agent can do this.

Whether you use photos, videos, or 3-D, virtual tours are a great way to add value and stand out from the competition. So get out there and start capturing.

Now that you know how to make a virtual tour with iPhone, will you be using this technique to help your clients?

I Visited 14 National Parks In One Year. Here Are the Apps I Used to Plan and Pull Off Those Trips.

Elissa Sanci

By Elissa Sanci

Elissa Sanci is a writer on the discovery team. She has found that clear ice makes carbonated drinks taste better, and citronella candles don’t work.

In 2021, I visited 14 national parks spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between. I hiked up mountains for stunning 360-degree vistas, ventured underground to explore cave systems, and wandered through slot canyons in the desert heat—and to do it all successfully, I relied on a few trusted apps. Whether I’m searching for campsites, organizing a packed itinerary, or navigating long hikes safely, I’ve found these apps extremely useful in pulling off my national park trips. Here are the apps that can help you plan your own adventures.

Learn about the national parks

The app: National Park Service ( iOS and Android )

What it’s good for: Information about every single national park site across the country—including national parks, monuments, and historical sites.

The nitty-gritty: All of my trip planning begins with this handy app released in 2021 by the National Park Service. Easy to use and free to download, the NPS app (which you can also use offline as long as you download content beforehand) offers interactive maps of each park, self-guided tours curated by park rangers, and news and current events, along with lists of amenities (such as food services, restrooms, and gift shops). You can get as involved with the app as you’d like, whether you want to keep detailed lists of the overlooks and points of interest you want to see or you just need to check the park hours and entry fees.

The NPS app gives real-time updates on conditions within the park—such as road closures, long entry lines, weather advisory warnings, and whether you need a reservation to enter—allowing you to find all the pertinent information you need to know before heading to or traveling throughout the park. I didn’t use the NPS app on my trip to Big Bend National Park—but if I had, I could have avoided a two-hour wait at a trailhead when important roads were blocked off for construction.

Discover the best hiking trails

A serene lake, pine trees, and stark stone facades in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The app: AllTrails ( iOS and Android )

What it’s good for: Finding and researching all possible paths through a park.

The nitty-gritty: With a free membership, you can search for hiking trails using a name, city, or park and then filter your results based on difficulty level and length. From there, you can read through hiker reviews to learn more about the trail and assess whether it’s right for you. You can also save your preferred routes on curated lists; for example, I created separate lists for each of the parks in Utah I planned to visit so that I could easily refer back to them while preparing for each trip. And AllTrails isn’t just for hikers, as you can also use the app to plan out mountain biking, snow sports, mountaineering, trail running, and climbing excursions.

If you plan to hike a few different trails during your trip, the AllTrails Plus Membership might be worth investing in. For $36 a year, you have the ability to download maps for offline access, something that comes in handy if you find yourself veering off-trail in an area with limited service. Just make sure you’ve downloaded the map prior to your hike. The Plus Membership comes with other perks, too, but I’ve found the ability to see my GPS dot moving alongside the correct trail worth the yearly membership fee all on its own. If you’re not sold, you can sign up for a one-week free trial—but make sure to time it so that the period lines up with your next trip.

After your trip, return to AllTrails to leave reviews of the trails you hiked. If you relied on information you learned about certain trails to choose and execute a hike safely, repay the favor by leaving thoughts about your experience in the comment section. Prospective hikers will appreciate your updates on trail closures, maintenance issues, and tricky-to-follow trails.

Find a place to sleep

The apps: Recreation.gov ( iOS and Android ), The Dyrt ( iOS and Android ), Hipcamp ( iOS and Android )

What they’re good for: Finding campsites suited to your budget, expertise, and comfort level.

The nitty-gritty: Which app you use to reserve a campsite or lodging for your trip ultimately depends on the kind of experience you’re looking to have.

Recreation.gov lists only federal camping options, so if you know you’d like to stay in the national park or forest you’re visiting, this app should be your first stop. Each campsite listing shows site details including rules, amenities, and availability. You can book directly through the app, and you can also use Recreation.gov to apply for permits and pay your park-entry fees.

The Dyrt is a good option for campers looking for free and discounted campsites, as it offers a repository of more than 500,000 campgrounds around the country on both public and private land. Similar to the listings in Recreation.gov, each Dyrt listing gives a rundown of the amenities and rules of the campsite, but rather than allowing you to book through the app, Dyrt redirects you to the campground’s website. You can also look through Dyrt user reviews and photos as you make a decision. The Dyrt is a free app, but if you want the ability to search for campgrounds offline or to download maps, you can sign up for The Dyrt Pro for $36 per year. You can sign up for a free seven-day trial if you’re not ready to commit.

Screenshot of the app The Dyrt, showing campsites in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Hipcamp is perfect for folks who would rather glamp than camp. Through this app, you can find Instagram-worthy private glamping sites (think decked-out RVs, yurts, and cabins). These sites tend to be more expensive, but they offer more amenities and creature comforts for those who aren’t comfortable pitching their own tent or sleeping on the ground. Like Airbnb (which can also help you find glamping and camping sites), Hipcamp lets you read through each host’s bio, flip through photos of the listing, and scroll through reviews before booking directly in the app. You can use Hipcamp to find cheap DIY campsites, as well.

Explore the park without leaving your car

The app: Just Ahead ( iOS )

What it’s good for: A narrated car ride through the parks.

The nitty-gritty: This app is useful for folks who want private guided tours. Employing your phone’s built-in GPS (offline use is also an option), the Just Ahead app automatically begins narrating as you drive by certain markers on the map, and you can learn about scenic views, geology, and park history as you pass them. Each guide is professionally written and narrated by journalists and authors who have written for National Geographic and Outside Magazine. Just Ahead isn’t without its limitations, though: It offers guides to only a handful of the more popular US national parks (such as Yellowstone, Joshua Tree, and Rocky Mountain), and each guide must be purchased separately, starting at $15.

Organize your travel plans

The app: Notion ( iOS and Android )

What it’s good for: Keeping important travel information and documents in one place.

The nitty-gritty: You can plan your trip however you’d like, be it in Google Docs, detailed Excel sheets, or the notes app on your phone—but I love using Notion, a free project-management and note-taking app that you can access on both your phone and your desktop. Because you can use this app to organize all parts of your life, it can feel a little overwhelming at first, but Notion provides a dedicated travel template that can help make trip planning more streamlined. You can pull all the essential details of your trip into one highly organized spot by creating tables for different kinds of information (such as your budget or flight details), embedding Google maps specific to your trip, and assigning tags to certain categories so they’re easier to find. You can create a general overview of your trip, linking out to other important documents, files, and websites—and you can make more in-depth, filtered views for each day of your trip with all the information you’ll need. Notion also makes collaborating with others simple, so you can share your plans with travel buddies ahead of time and work together to create the perfect trip.

So it’s decided – you want to start making virtual tours TODAY. But then you realise – you don’t actually have a 360º camera ! What do you do now?? Luckily, you stumbled across this blog where we will explain to you how to make a virtual tour using Iphone or Android – and better yet – with a FREE app!

Here’s what you need:

Google Street View App for Android or Iphone

The my360 app for android or iphone.

Ok so now you have your tools we will start to make a virtual tour using Iphone or Android using the following quick steps (scroll down for images & our review)

  • Open the Google Street View App
  • Click on the camera icon (create)
  • Choose “Take Photo Sphere”
  •  Point the camera to the orange dot and wait until it has taken it’s first image
  • Repeat pointing your camera until all the orange dots are gone and a green checkbox appears in the bottom of your screen
  • Click on the green checkmark and wait for the processor to finish
  • (Android only) Once finished, click on “profile” and select the image you just made
  • (iPhone only) Click on the image
  • Click on the “share” icon (upload icon on iPhone)
  • Select “share privately”
  • (iPhone Only) Click on “save image”
  • Once saved to your Google Drive, open the Google Drive App
  • Select your image
  • Click the 3 dots in the top right corner
  • Select “download”
  • You can now upload the images to your My360 account using the My360 app or send the images to your desktop (if they are not the right size) . I use Airdrop to send my images to the desktop, but you can also use email (make sure to select “original size” ). Then from there you can edit them and upload them to your account. However, you can also upload them straight to your account from your phone, so continue these steps if that is what you want to do.
  • Open the My360 App
  • Create a new tour profile or click on an existing one
  • Click + Spheres
  • Click “select spheres”
  • Click “from gallery”
  • Choose the image(s)
  • Click “upload” and wait for the images to finish uploading (don’t close the app!)

Now you can proceed to create a virtual tour using the desktop software. Follow this link for a full guide

If your images are not the correct size, please resize them first and then upload them using your computer

Here is the same guide but now with pictures:

Open the streetview app and click on the camera (create) icon. Then click on the “(Take) Photo Sphere” and point your camera to the orange dot. Once the first dot is completed, it will show you the next dot. Continue shooting all the dots until the checkmark is green.

The images will overlap and look horrible, but don’t worry, the app will process the images to take out most of the errors.

Once all the images have been taken, you will see a green check mark at the bottom of your screen. Click that to start the processing. (if the checkmark is NOT green, you are missing more dots – shoot them all, otherwise the image won’t be 360º)

(Hover over the below images to view Android or iPhone settings)

Make virtual tour with Android

Once the process is finished, click on the image (android, click on profile first, then on the image) then click the  “upload / share icon” and then choose “share privately”. On the next screen save the image to your camera roll (iPhone) or save to your Google Drive (Android)  or choose “airdrop” to send them straight to your phone (iPhone).

If you used Airdrop, you can stop here. Your images are now on your computer and your can continue with this guide to learn how to make a virtual tour with the images.

If you saved them to your phone (iPhone) or Drive (Android) , then continue reading to find out how to upload them direct to the My360 software using your phone.

Make virtual tour android

Android users need to go to their Google Drive on their phone, click on the image and save it to their gallery

Make a virtual tour with Android

Now your images will be in the image gallery (both Andriod & iPhone)

Click on the My360 App and then click on “+new” to add a new tour profile, or select and exiting profile. Then click on “+Spheres” and choose “select spheres”

NOTE: if you are unable to upload images – make sure the My360 App has access to your camera. Check this in your phone settings.

Make a virtual tour with your smartphone

Select the camera image gallery, then choose the image(s) you want to upload – you can upload up to 15 images in 1 time. Then click “upload” and wait for the upload to finish.

Once all images have been uploaded you can close the app and move on to the desktop version of the software to start making your virtual tour with the images you just uploaded.

Click here to learn how to do that.

Make a virtual tour with your smartphone

Now I hear you say: This is amazing! And I don’t even have to purchase a camera!

And you’re quite right, it is pretty amazing that this can all be done for free, but keep in mind… using your phone and a free app – the images are not going to look as good as they would using a 360º camera.

You will find that using the app with your phone will leave you with many stitching errors and the quality is only going to be as good as your phone camera quality allows. So in a dark room, or a room with too much light, you might find it hard to make a good image.

Here’s an example shot with the iPhone 8 Plus in bad weather:

Here’s another one, using a Samsung Galaxy Phone:

Make a virtual tour with your smartphone

You see, stitching can go horribly wrong… But at least it’s a start and you can now make a virtual tour using iPhone or Android! And when you’re ready to purchase your first 360º camera, don’t forget we have some great camera deals on at the moment!

The role of these tours is to inspire, entertain, educate audiences and promote purchases. These experiences are also called “online tours.”

Creating a 360 virtual tour with Panoee – video tutorial.

Following these simple steps and getting guidance to create a 360 virtual tour with Panoee.

Getting a 360 – degree camera.

Need to use a dedicated camera to create a virtual tour, not a regular phone camera (this part is usually provided by the agency to the client)

Panoee develops an app/browser in conjunction with dedicated camera providers (partnership) to support users to create virtual tour videos.

Users often tend to take pictures of raw houses/sites in the before/after state; use effects available on Panoeee (like sun,…) to make the video scene more vivid

Exporting photos and creating a virtual tour of the Panoee

The user creates an account, then creates a project (similar to premiere), uploads photos/videos and then uses a tool to link the photos/videos and create videos directly on the browser/app,

Users can name each scene, then connect these scenes together to form a complete 360 video.

After creating the complete video, the user renders the video online.

– To use the created video, the user copies the link and then embeds it on the website.

– Users can attach the right copy of the creator’s information to the video, attach a logo and customize it according to the purpose (PR, concealer, .etc) in any position that the user wants to place.

To enable a screen reader, press Ctrl+Alt+Z To learn more about keyboard shortcuts, press Ctrl+slash.

The Best Virtual Tour Software Crafted for Professionals

Rated #1 by g2.com , teliportme is built for real estate, photographers, agencies, and digital twin businesses . powerful editor, 3d dollhouse, floorplans, google street view publishing and more....

Street View Ready

TeliportMe has been a great partner for our company! They offer an unbeatable integration service with Guesty via our marketplace, the largest of any property-management platform. We are proud to provide Guesty's users with high-quality virtual tour offerings for their short term and vacation rental properties . I highly recommend TeliportMe as the best choice for any virtual tour needs.

TeliportMe is undoubtedly the best software provider for virtual tour SDKs and APIs. When we were launching our own internal product we reviewed several software providers but I was most impressed by the quality of the technology by TeliportMe. The team at TeliportMe has been phenomenal and has exceeded all expectations, not just in their service but also in their expertise.

At Nestaway, we wanted to implement 360s for all our 50,000+ rooms on our platform having worked with TeliportMe for three years now and I am so glad we made that choice. It is by far the best virtual tour software on the market with its most advanced mobile 360 capture technology. None come close to matching TeliportMe's seamless interface, simple device support, and easy API integration.

Working for a real estate company, and due to travel restrictions, we are trying to make visits more convenient and safe for potential buyers so Virtual tours are just perfect for this purpose. They also look great on the website and apps of the company. Potential buyers and renters surely enjoy having virtual tours.

I've done similar tests with other websites, and TeliportMe has among the highest fidelity. This is why I've begun using TeliportMe for the 360 camera comparison tool .

The quality of the renders is impressive, the best one out there, hands down for high-resolution captures. The integrated tools such as the floorplans, customizable hotspots, polygon hotspots, video, true north, extremely high-resolution, and some of the fastest render times on some high-speed servers. Teliportme meets all my clients ' expectations and then some! The quality is fantastic for mobile, and desktop, and the ease of sharing is impressive.

MacStadium Releases Free Orka Desktop macOS Virtualization Software

Mac cloud services provider MacStadium today unveiled Orka Desktop , a free virtualization tool that allows Mac users to create and manage macOS virtual machines locally via an easy-to-use admin panel.

orka desktop

MacStadium claims it is the "ideal tool" for those who want to learn more about Mac virtualization and learn how an image can be built and tested locally, then uploaded to the cloud.

"Orka Desktop provides the tools to allow developers to create many different macOS image versions locally, commit those into a shared repository, and pass them around for collaboration. Developers can also scale further by pulling those resources into an Orka Cluster at MacStadium where you can orchestrate workloads with cloud resources," said Chris Chapman, MacStadium's chief technology officer."

MacStadium says Orka Desktop achieves near-native performance on Apple Silicon , with virtualization overhead as low as 5% in most cases. Orka Desktop also wraps and compresses macOS images with an Open Container Initiative (OCI)-compliant specification, which allows it to reduce a 90GB image by as much as 80%, shrinking it to nearly 15GB, making it much easier to move around.

There are two options for creating a new VM in Orka: Clean Install, where the image is created from an existing IPSW file, and Pull Image, where the image is pulled from an Image Repository. There is also an option to pull the latest IPSW directly from Apple's servers. More information can be found in Orka's documentation .

Best Learning App

Praktika is the best application to learn english, You can improve all of the aspects of your English, They added a feature recently to improve your listening and reading also which is very very fantastic. The AI behind it is very smart and you will feel you are talking with a real human, It would be the best teacher you ever had.
It’s good that the app has a free version to explore it before buying. I use it now. I have 10 minutes a day to practice for free. It is enough for one lesson. Trying it for first time I thought I should pay for complete version, but after today’s lesson I am not sure about this. The lesson was about the ordering the words in the sentence. And first two exercises had wrong words order as it should be to let me order them right. But all other exercises have right words order already, so I should only read them without thinking about how to order them. So now I doubt about usefulness of the complete version. If it has the same issue, it is not worth to buy it.

6 out of ten

The AI being used here is pretty smart on its own, but the app is still very raw. I've spent about two weeks doing lessons, yet the app doesn't save my progress. Another issue is that it doesn't matter what label a lesson has. It seems like the AI always follows its own random plan for your learning process, so the topic is always unpredictable. Therefore, the learning plan doesn't work. Crashes down when minimised. Nonetheless, it is still good for practicing your skills. Even if the app doesn't offer you a structured plan of exercises, you can always ask the AI about any topic you are interested in
