Taylor Swift's RED Tour

Taylor Swift's Red tour – review

Considering it was a two-hour show, the set list was lean, but then, there was a lot of talking to fit in. This was the first of five sold-out dates at the O2, and Taylor Swift discussed feelings and heartbreak and who to approach if you felt you were being bullied. She talked about London and her friends and complimented the 15,000-strong crowd on their galaxy of flashing signs. She asked, aw shucks, if she "Er, could get a picture with you guys?"

There's an internet meme called Taylor Swift Looking Surprised, which comes with a less-than-kind implication that there is somehow dishonesty or at least disingenuousness in her "who me?" humility. Certainly, tonight, Swift seems staggeringly nice. She's a consummate crowd pleaser, at one point even changing into a union jack T-shirt, as if trying to make friends with her location. But in an arena heaving with homemade T-shirts, banners with heavily felt-tipped messages such as "Taylor we're proud of you!" and awestruck girls silently mouthing every word to every song, it is difficult to be cynical. Swift is a professional big sister, and she's very good at it.

What's clear, too, is that she knows how to put on a show. There was little of the country ingenue left in this slick spectacular, other than the banjo inflections of Mean, but Swift appears to have found her feet as a pop star. You Belong With Me's soft-rock genesis received a girl-group makeover, adding to the occasional prom feel that peppered the night. I Knew You Were Trouble's dubstep rumble wobbled the rafters. The Lucky One was transported to the 1920s with a silent movie staging, its doo-wop backbone given a music hall twist. Dancers emerged from a toy box by way of Versailles. She changed costume repeatedly, even mid-song, whipping off her wedding dress in I Knew You Were Trouble (as she did at last year's Brits) to dance more freely in black lace and glittery boots.

Interestingly, Swift doesn't appear to be a natural mover. She does not possess the liquid flexibility of some of her arena-pop peers; she obviously puts her all into the choreography, but seems most at home when she's behind an instrument. In addition to the sparkles, which are truly fun, there are frequent reminders of the quality of the songcraft. All Too Well is transformed into a piano ballad that is genuinely wrenching and it's a welcome crack of vulnerability in the fixed-smile act. The audience was predominantly very young; this felt like a concession to their chaperones.

Throughout the Red tour, Swift has invited a guest on stage with her. Tonight it's the turn of "one of my best friends" Ed Sheeran, who wombles on to perform Lego House. It's another sign of that determined niceness that he gets to do one of his songs, rather than one of hers. And of course there's time for a story: Swift tells us how she heard it on the radio and knew instantly that she had to write with him, and the rest is history, etc etc.

After two hours, the ending, when it comes, is surprisingly punchy. There is no encore, just a celebratory We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which explodes into a hail of streamers as 15,000 people attempt, somewhat jarringly, to sing along to the spoken words "Like, ever". Earlier, Swift had thanked the crowd "for deciding to hang out with me when there are a thousand other things you could be doing". The volume of the screams that see her off-stage suggest that niceness really does go a long way.

Meaning and Background [ ]

After Taylor performed this song at the Brit Awards , she was asked if it was difficult to perform. Taylor replied: “Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching.”, indicating that she wrote the song about Harry Styles . [1]

Music Video [ ]

The music video was released on December 13, 2012. It's directed by Anthony Mandler.

Storyline The music video starts with Taylor lying on the ground in a dessert, surrounded by trash. Taylor has pink-tipped hair and dark make-up. Short flashbacks of Taylor and her ex-boyfriend play as there's a voice-over that says:

"I think, I think when it's all over it just comes back in flashes you know. It's like a kaleidoscope of memories, but it just all comes back. But he never does. I think part of me knew the second I saw him that this would happen. It's not really anything he said or anything he did. It was the feeling that came along with it. And crazy thing is, I don't know if I'm ever going to feel that way again, but I don't know if I should. I knew his world moved too fast and burned too bright, but I just thought, How could the devil be pulling me towards someone who looks so much like and angel when he smiles at you? Maybe he knew that when he saw me. I guess I just lost my balance. I think that the worst part of it all wasn't losing him, it was losing me."

When the video starts, Taylor meets a guy. They get into a relationship and are having a good time together as they go on dates, drive, dance together, get tattoos and the guys gives Taylor a necklace. However, their relationship takes a turn for the worse. Police arrive while they're kissing in his car, he gets into a fight with some guys at a bar (which Taylor tries to stop) and at a concert Taylor sees him kissing other girls. The last scene shows Taylor dropping the necklace the guy gave her and a voice-over saying:

"I don't know if you know who you are until you lose who you are."

About I Knew You Were Trouble

"I Knew You Were Trouble" (stylized as "I Knew You Were Trouble.") is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her fourth studio album, Red (2012). It was released on October 9, 2012, in the United States by Big Machine Records as the third promotional single from the album. Later, "I Knew You Were Trouble" was released as the third single from Red on November 27, 2012, in the United States. It was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback, with the production handled by the latter two. "I Knew You Were Trouble" received generally positive reviews from music critics, who commended its mainstream appeal yet noted Swift's experimentation with dubstep as relatively limited. Due to strong digital sales, the song debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, selling more than 416,000 copies within its first week; it later peaked at number two in January 2013, blocked from the top spot by Bruno Mars's "Locked Out of Heaven". At the inaugural YouTube Music Awards in 2013, "I Knew You Were Trouble" won the award for YouTube phenomenon. The single has been certified sextuple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song had sold 5.42 million copies in the United States as of July 2019.   more »

Apparently, Tons of Taylor Swift’s Songs Were Written About One Particular Ex

Mustafa Gatollari - Author

Nov. 12 2021, Published 10:03 a.m. ET

It's not a secret that Taylor Swift 's music is influenced by her real-life drama. Whether it's her feud with Katy Perry ("Bad Blood") or her rollercoaster of a relationship with ex Calvin Harris ("I Forgot That You Existed"), Taylor's got a laundry list of folks she just loves immortalizing through song.

However, fans of the singer have long wondered who "I Knew You Were Trouble" is written about – and there are plenty of theories around the pop anthem.

Is "I Knew You Were Trouble" really about Taylor Swift's ex Harry Styles?

Taylor doesn't kiss and tell, per se — but it's pretty obvious. One of her most famous exes is the globally-beloved and ridiculously successful Harry Styles.

Harry has managed to balance a high-profile music career while acting in films with top directors... and is even dating one of them!

Prior to being romantically linked to Olivia Wilde, he and Taylor Swift dated for a few months in 2012. And while that amount of time doesn't seem all that long, it's provided Taylor with more than enough material (presumably) for several tracks.

Everyone knows that her song "Style" is about Harry Styles — his name is literally the title of the track.

Then there's her "Evermore" album that has yet another Harry entry, at least according to die-hard fans, who are convinced that "Gold Rush" is about the former One Direction singer.

The lyrics seem to suggest that the narrator (in this case Ms. Swift) is reconciling with the fact that she and her former flame were never meant to be.

Remember when Taylor Swift and Harry Styles pic.twitter.com/0mqxRvyrdO — Mrs. Perfectly Fine⛈ (@demetriaftcyrus) November 5, 2021

But these purportedly aren't the only two songs that Taylor's written about Harry. Taylor re-released her fourth studio album, "Red (Taylor's Version)," which is a re-recorded compilation of the tracks, that includes her mega-hit "I Knew You Were Trouble."

Taylor Swift practically sang "I Knew You Were Trouble" to Harry Styles at the 2013 Brit Awards.

Seemingly proving her fans right, Taylor pretty much confirmed that the song was "directed" at Harry during the 2013 Brit Awards.

When asked how she felt about performing in front of her ex, Harry, Taylor was uncharacteristically open. Well, more than she usually is.

She said, "Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching."

Then there's also the words of the song as well. Let's delve into the lyrics and provide a critical analysis:

"I knew his world moved too fast and burned too bright. But I just thought, how can the devil be pulling you toward someone who looks so much like an angel when he smiles at you?"

That angel has to be Harry, right?

There's no doubt Harry's got a heck of an angelic face, and, just like she wrote in "Gold Rush," there's a lot of references to burning bright and fast and then phasing out just as quickly.

In a nutshell, "I Knew You Were Trouble" is most definitely about Mr. Styles.

Taylor swift’s ‘cruel summer’ is becoming one of the longest-running hits of her career.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - NOVEMBER 19: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY, NO COVERS.) Taylor Swift performs during ... [+] night two of "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour" at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos on November 19, 2023 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (Photo by TAS2023 via Getty Images)

Taylor Swift scored a shockling hit in 2023 with “Cruel Summer,” which became popular all over again after she included it in her The Eras Tour setlist. The song went on to become a chart smash all over the world, and in some territories, it’s still going strong. The electro-pop cut has quietly become one of Swift’s biggest wins, and also one of her longest-charting.

“Cruel Summer” has now lived on the U.K. songs chart for 42 weeks. That makes it the third-longest-charting single of her nearly two decades in the spotlight in that country.

Currently, Swift’s tune with the most weeks spent on the U.K. songs chart is “Shake It Off.” That smash racked up 55 stays somewhere on the ranking of the most-consumed tracks in the nation before falling away.

Swift only has two weeks to go before “Cruel Summer” ties with another one of her favorites. “Love Story” stayed on the U.K. songs chart for 44 weeks. That tune introduced her to the country, as it marked her first placement on the competitive list.

Recently, “Cruel Summer” passed yet another time-tested win from Swift. Her Red single “I Knew You Were Trouble” held on for 40 weeks during its run more than a decade ago. Now, it ranks as her fourth-longest-running single on the U.K. songs chart.

This frame, “Cruel Summer” actually gains ground on the U.K. ranking. It leaps from No. 35 to No. 33. It once rose all the way to No. 2, failing to reach the summit by just one space.

Based on its current performance, it seems like “Cruel Summer” will be charting in the U.K. for a while. The tune could hold on for a few more weeks, or perhaps even months–depending on a special set of circumstances. The Official Chart Company has a rule in place that every artist can only fill three spaces at one time as a lead act, and that may hurt her chances of reorganizing this list.

Is Leadership an Art or a Science

Apple confirms innovative iphone 16 pro upgrade, ‘civil war’ star on why the film’s president is not based on donald trump.

Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department is due later this month, and the three most popular cuts from the project will likely replace “Cruel Summer” when they debut. If “Cruel Summer” can beat out newer tracks–or more likely, return after they’ve enjoyed a moment in the spotlight–Swift may be able to change the order of her longest-charting hits in the U.K. Before her new album affects the ranking, she may tie “Love Story,” or perhaps even blow right past it with her Lover smash.

Sabrina Carpenter Strips Taylor Swift's ‘I Knew You Were Trouble' All the Way Down For Spotify Singles

Sabrina Carpenter is about to get another front-row seat on Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour. The Emails I Can't Send singer is gearing up to re-join Swift on the Latin American leg of the record-breaking outing, so as a kind of warm-up she recorded a super stripped-down version of Taylor's "I Knew You Were Trouble" for Spotify Singles.

The bouncy Max Martin and Shellback-produced song from Swift's 2012 Red album gets stripped down to the studs in Carpenter's hands, with the singer transforming the EDM lite original into a hushed acoustic ballad featuring her breathy vocals floating over pedal steel, subtle drums and atmospheric keyboards.

"And I heard you moved on/ From whispers on the street/ A new notch in your belt/ Is all I'll ever be," Carpenter sings achingly before wailing, "And now I see/ Now I see/ Now I see." The Single batch also features a version of Carpenter's " Feather ," which appeared on Emails I Can't Send Fwd , the deluxe edition of her Emails album.

Carpenter will head south with Swift next month when the Eras Tour picks back up with three shows at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro. She will also be the opener when the tour jumps to Australia and Singapore in February and March.

Billboard spoke to Carpenter in August as she was hitting the road with her biggest musical inspiration, and the 24-year-old singer could not say enough about the dream honor. "That is one of my main inspirations ever since I was a little girl, and now to just be able to watch that show every night is going to be so special," she said after making her Eras Tour debut in Mexico City, where she wowed the crowd with a cover of late Mexican-American superstar Selena  Quintanilla's 1995 hit " Dreaming of You ."

"It's so funny, I've been growing up with her advice in her songs because it's very much a how-to book on how to survive as a young woman, which is really special," Carpenter added. "Watching her in and of itself is how you learn. I admire her work ethic and her talent and she's just so amazing."

13 Taylor Swift Songs Fans Are Convinced Are About Harry Styles

Kelly Carlin

Unless you live under a rock, you know Taylor Swift is one artist who isn’t afraid to write songs about her life. It’s her signature, and fans love her for it, since she keeps it real and stays true to herself and her own perspective. She pulls from personal experiences and references past loves in her songs, so it makes sense that Swifties like to dissect and analyze her lyrics for their real-life counterparts and meanings.

From “Teardrops On My Guitar” to the Taylor’s Version album reissues, Swift has covered a lot of ground on dating, relationships, and heartbreak. Since her debut onto the country music scene in the late ‘00s, Swift has had her share of celebrity boyfriends, perhaps none more celebrated than pop star and ex-One Direction member Harry Styles. Styles has become a household name in his own right, so it’s no wonder music fans ship these two as a power couple.

In reality, the pair only dated from December 2012 to January 2013 (just one month), but the relationship left an impact on both stars and their music. While they’ve never mentioned each other by name in their lyrics (unless you count “Style”), fans and critics alike have their theories on when they pop up in each other’s songs.

Are these songs about Harry Styles? Vote for your favorites below and let us know!

Is It Over Now?

Is It Over Now?

Album It’s On: 1989 (Taylor’s Version)

The Lyrical Hint: “Red blood, white snow, blue dress on a boat”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: In a 2014 interview, Swift discussed a snowmobile accident she got into with an ex that sent them both to the hospital and later inspired these lyrics. While she didn’t name the ex, fans were quick to presume it was about Styles based on clues, timelines, and reported information. “Red blood, white show, blue dress” is a clear tri-color reference to her and Styles’s relationship.

While the red and white reference the snowmobile incident directly, the blue dress line is referencing this paparazzi photo taken in the Virgin Islands in January 2013, shortly before the breakup. The picture shows Swift alone on a boat in the blue dress and sunglasses, a photo from the vacation that she and Styles reportedly split during. The picture is a whole mood, and a reportedly blowout fight on this trip ultimately led to the couple’s romantic demise.

Out of the Woods

Out of the Woods

Album It’s On: 1989

The Lyrical Hint: “Oh your necklace hanging from my neck… two paper airplanes flying”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: 2014’s 1989 is Swift’s first album post-Styles, so it’s full of references to the ex-One Directioner, and this track is no exception. In 2012, as Styles was coming up in the spotlight, he was often photographed wearing a gold paper airplane necklace . It was his signature jewelry item, and music fans associated the necklace with Styles.

When Swift was reportedly seen out and about wearing the same necklace, the internet was abuzz and the world confirmed them as a couple. While Swift and Styles are clearly the two metaphorical paper airplanes flying here, their relationship just wasn’t meant to. Clearly, Swift got all kinds of inspiration from the coupling anyway.

Style

The Lyrical Hint:  “You got that long hair, slicked back, white t-shirt”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: This is the closest Swift has come to calling Styles out by name. Besides the obvious title of the song, fans know he’s the inspiration for the song from the lyrical description in the chorus. From the slicked black long hair to the white t-shirt, it’s easy to see the clear connection to Styles’s fashion of the era.

While he’s a style icon in his own right now, at the time Styles was known and recognized for his long brown hair that he typically wore over to one side or pushed back on his forehead. When he was younger and less established, his style was more simple and boyish; nothing like the boas, bright colored suits, and androgynous silhouettes he sports today. Based on Styles then, this lyric’s a dead ringer. Swift herself even told Ryan Seacrest in 2014 that the song “kind of speaks for itself.”

I Know Places

I Know Places

The Lyrical Hint: “They are the hunters, we are the foxes”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: Like much of 1989 , “I Know Places” was likely influenced by Swift’s recent relationship with Styles, referencing their early days of dating. The song allegorizes the experience of living in the public eye: from being followed by paparazzi to wanting to hide together in a safe, comfortable place. It’s a relatable feeling that fans and critics alike understand: there’s no privacy in your personal life (or dating) when you’re a superstar.

On their second date, Swift was photographed by paparazzi in a fox sweater in Central Park walking arm and arm with Styles. These lyrics document their early dates and how it felt being photographed during them , something both stars dealt with at the time. Since Swift is one of the most famous people in the world and Styles was a huge star in One Direction, they likely bonded over their shared understanding of privacy invasion and mutual desire to be left alone by paparazzi. The paparazzi are the hunters and the couple are the prey.

Now That We Don't Talk

Now That We Don't Talk

The Lyrical Hint: “You grew your hair long… I don't have to pretend… that I'd like to be on a mega yacht”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: Ever changed your hair after a dramatic breakup? Styles has! The most obvious Styles reference here is to him growing his hair out following the breakup. When he was on tour with One Direction in 2014, Styles sported long, curly hair throughout the Where We Are tour. Swift apparently took note.

Supporting the theory further, the “mega yacht” line could be a callback to the blue dress photo that inspired lyrics in a few other songs on the album. Since the couple’s infamous breakup fight supposedly happened on a boat in the Virgin Islands, fans believe Swift is referencing that incident again here.

Wonderland

Album It’s On: 1989 (Deluxe version)

The Lyrical Hint: “Didn't they tell us don't rush into things? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me?”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: This 1989 song has a couple of clear influences, both literary and from Swift’s personal experience. Swift and Styles’s short-lived romance was a famous whirlwind, so the line about not rushing into things fits with their narrative, as the couple faced scrutiny from the media and public. Styles also has green eyes, another reason he matches the criteria for this song’s inspiration.

The song also includes a lyric about the “Cheshire cat,” a reference to Lewis Carroll’s seminal work Alice in Wonderland , which also inspired the song. While the Cheshire cat is a character in the book, Cheshire is also the town in England where Styles is from. Coincidence? Fans think not.

Question...?

I Wish You Would

The Lyrical Hint: “You think I'm gonna hate you now 'cause you still don't know what I never said”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: This song shows Swift regretting a past breakup, one fans have speculated to be her breakup with Styles. The lyrics describe a disconnect between the two lovers in a situation where neither have communicated their feelings properly. Swift famously told Ryan Seacrest in 2014 interview that the album describes a relationship that’s “always a bit off… it’s never quite synced up right.”

Swift describes the regrets she feels about the way the relationship ended, and that she wishes she could take back the things she said and handle it differently. The song resonates with fans who have been in the same situation, and the evidence points to Styles as the inspiration.

Say Don't Go

Say Don't Go

The Lyrical Hint: “Halfway out the door, but it won't close. I’m holdin' out hope for you to say 'don't go’"

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: Swift has discussed the anxiety she felt during her relationship with Styles, which she also highlights in “Out of the Woods,” another song fans have theorized is about him. While that song discusses the details of the event, this one is more emotional and internal, highlighting her feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, and loneliness.

The track describes a break-up scene in which she is leaving their unresolved relationship when she truly wants to stay. If he had asked her not to go, she would have stayed. Swift implied in an interview that she and Styles were out of sync, and these lyrics illustrate the loneliness you can feel when you are disconnected from your partner. It goes to show that even pop stars have to give up on love sometimes, even if they don’t want to.

Clean

Album It’s On: 1989

The Lyrical Hint: “Rain came pouring down when I was drowning, that’s when I could finally breathe… gone was any trace of you"

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: In her 2015 cover story for Elle magazine , Swift told Tavi Gevinson about writing the 2014 album. She describes writing the song as she was “walking out of Liberty in London,” and that she had “been in the same city as him for two weeks and I hadn't thought about it.”

Since she was describing an ex in London, fans immediately knew that she was referencing Styles and their recent relationship. It also marks a change in tone from Swift’s previous break up songs that had a more spiteful or revenge-oriented perspective. While she can miss him, she still appreciates the relationship for what it was, despite it not working out.

I Knew You Were Trouble

I Knew You Were Trouble

Album It’s On: Red

The Lyrical Hint: “I knew you were trouble when you walked in so shame on me"

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: This is the earliest song on this list, since Swift and Styles dated in late 2012 and early 2013, after the release of Red in October 2012. While most think this song was inspired by exes Jake Gyllenhaal and/or John Mayer like most of the album, there’s a chance that Swift penned this one about the One Direction baddie.

The theory stems from a 2013 appearance and performance at the BRIT Awards. Swift stated in an interview after the ceremony that the person the song was directed at was watching her perform it , and it made it more real for her. Styles was definitely in attendance that night, so fans ran with this theory. It was cemented further when Styles wrote a song that seemed to reference “I Knew You Were Trouble,” One Direction’s 2015 track “Perfect.”

Wildest Dreams

Wildest Dreams

The Lyrical Hint: “Say you’ll remember me… you’ll see me in hindsight”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: In an interview about the writing process on 1989 , Swift told NPR that she was writing about more complex relationships and feelings at the time, and was able to separate herself from the heavy feelings she’d carried. She wants him to remember her, no matter what happens. She can still appreciate the relationship for what it was, even if it didn’t work out.

Like much of 1989 , this song is rumored to be able Styles and Swift’s grief over their breakup. It also shows her growth as an artist and songwriter, as the lyrics are more advanced and mature than on her previous break up songs.

gold rush

Album It’s On: evermore

The Lyrical Hint: “Everybody wants you but I don’t like a gold rush”

The Compelling Reason Fans Think It’s About Harry: This one goes beyond the lyrics themselves, as Styles released the song “Golden” on his second solo album, 2019’s Fine Line. “Golden” was a big hit, and fans naturally speculated that Swift’s lyrics on “gold rush” were about the jealousy she felt dating Styles when the whole world was trying to get a piece of him.

Plus, the song includes a reference to a Philadelphia Eagles shirt, one fans connected to a tweeted photo of Styles with an Eagles jersey. Some think this is a stretch, but Swifties are nothing if not thorough with their fandom. While Swift hasn’t confirmed the song is about Styles, many fans believe the wordplay is too obvious a connection to ignore.

Taylor Swift Tortured Poets Department 5 Stages of Grief Theory, Explained

taylor swift red tour i knew you were trouble

By P. Claire Dodson

About a month out from Taylor Swift's 10th album The Tortured Poets Department , Swift has given her us her first real piece of album promotion since the Grammys announcement: a set of curated Apple Music playlists labeled with TTPD songs and related phrases that reflect the five stages of grief.

Over the past months, Swift has released album variants for TTPD in different sepia-toned colors with unique bonus tracks. Fans assembled them together and found a “Five Stages of Grief” chart that mirrors the colors, thus the theory was born that the album would be a literal interpretation of her breakup with Joe Alwyn and the ensuing grief she experienced.

The Apple Music intro implies, however, that the fan theory was what actually informed Swift's decision to compile and release these five playlists, not the other way around. “And when Swifties agree upon a theory, Taylor takes an interest—so naturally, she's responded by crafting a series of exclusive playlists, choosing songs of her own that fit each stage," the intro reads.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Below, dive into each playlist and its tracklist before The Tortured Poets Department comes out April 19.

Denial: I Love You, It's Ruining My Life Songs

Anger: You Don't Get to Tell Me About Sad Songs

Taylor Swift's message: “These songs all have one thing in common: I wrote them while feeling anger. Over the years I've learned that anger can manifest itself in a lot of different ways, but the healthiest way it can manifest itself in my life is when I can write a song about it.”

Bargaining: Am I Allowed to Cry? Songs

Taylor Swift's message: “This playlist takes you through songs I've written when I was in the bargaining stage, times when you're trying to make deals with yourself or someone you care about, you're trying to make things better. You're often times feeling really desperate because oftentimes we have a gut intuition that tells us things are not going the way that we hope. Which makes us more desperate. Which makes us bargain more!"

Depression: Old Habits Die Screaming Songs

Taylor Swift's message: “We're going to be exploring the feelings of depression that often lace their way through my songs. In times like these, I'll write a song because I feel lonely or hopeless. And writing a song feels like the only way to process that intensity of an emotion. And while these things are really, really hard to go through, I often feel like when I'm either listening to songs or writing songs that deal with this intensity of loss and hopelessness — usually that's in the phase where I'm close to getting passed that feeling.”

Taylor Swift's message: “We finally find acceptance and can start moving forward from loss or heartbreak. These songs represent making room for more good in your life, making that choice. Because a lot of the time when we lose things, we gain things too.”
