Friends Gave Me Jet to US for Ksh 10M - Ruto

President William Ruto has clarified that he spent Ksh 10 million in his travel to United States (US) for a four-day state visit.

While Speaking during the National Breakfast Prayer Meeting at Safari Park, Nairobi, Ruto said he is a very responsible steward and could not spend the alleged Ksh 200 million- taxpayer’s money on travelling.

“Let me disclose, when I saw the debate in Kenya as to how I travelled to the US, there was all manner of figures that this plane is this big, it costed huge amount, google here and there,” Ruto said.

“There is no way I can spend Ksh 200 million. and Infact let me disclose here that it costed the Republic of Kenya less than Ksh 10 million,” Ruto clarified.

The head of State said that when he was told the cheapest plane is Ksh. 70 million, he told the Executive office to book a flight at Kenya Airways but friends of his offered to give an alternative.

“When a friend of mine heard that I was going to travel with Kenya Airways, they asked me how much I was willing to pay, and I said I was no paying anything more than Ksh. 20 million. They said bring Ksh 10 million and we will give you the plane,” Ruto said.

“Look at me Kenyans. Look at me again. I must lead at the front. As I tell others to tighten up their belts mine must be where to begin.”

Ruto further asked Kenyans to relax and end the debate because he is that responsible and it is going to be that way with the Country living with its means.

Additionally, Ruto said his plan in three years is that Kenya must have a balanced economy, where the country will not have a budget that has a deficit economy.
