Disney Cruise Line Gives First Look at the NEW Disney Adventure Ship

disney cruise ship news

Disney Cruise Line is finally ready to release more details about one of the NEWEST ships joining the fleet (and we’re loving this teaser)!

disney cruise ship news

We’ve been swooning and speculating for months about Disney Cruise Line’s latest expansions ever since they were announced at Destination D23 last year. While a few of the details about what we can expect out of these ships were shared then, it seems Disney’s one step closer to clueing us in on details about the Disney Adventure we’ve been dying to learn since its announcement!

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship is gearing up to set sail for its maiden voyage and it’s sooner than we originally thought! The Disney Adventure ship will be one of the latest additions to the ever-growing fleet of Disney cruise ships and Disney’s teasing us with some new information about it!

disney cruise ship news

Late last year Disney announced the name of this new ship along with details about where this ship would call home. It’s set to sail out of Singapore starting in 2025 after it’s finished being constructed in Germany.

On board, visitors will be treated to even more MARVEL, Pixar, and of course Disney stories to explore! The teaser that Disney Cruise Line dropped shows pixie dust surrounding both sides of the ship as the golden detailed touches are added…

disney cruise ship news

…and we catch a glimpse of Captain Mickey , who will become the bow’s character design on the front of the Disney Adventure!

disney cruise ship news

The teaser wraps up with a zoomed-out look of what the Disney Adventure ship will look like from the front once it’s ready to set sail and reiterates that the sailings will take place out of Singapore starting in 2025.

disney cruise ship news

While Disney has not announced an exact date just yet for sailings, future itineraries, or anything else, we’re hopeful that more details will be announced sooner rather than later (mainly because we can’t WAIT to see the rest of this ship)!

The Disney Adventure is just one of 3 new ships coming with the latest announced Disney Cruise Line expansion. This new lineup will see the addition of the Disney Treasure , Disney Adventure, and Disney Destiny soon. The Disney Treasure’s layout, which we already knew, will be very similar to the most recent ship to sail with Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wish. This leads us to the understanding that the Disney Adventure and Disney Destiny may share similar layouts too as sister ships with varying features, themed dining, and more to differentiate the two.

We’ll be bringing you the latest updates as they’re released about Disney Cruise Line! Be sure you’re following up at All Ears to stay updated!

Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s latest ship, sets sail December 2024

The high seas are about to become even more magical as Disney Cruise Line debuts its latest ship, the Disney Treasure.

“The Disney Treasure is part of an unprecedented expansion of Disney Cruise Line,” Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks Experience and Products, said. “We started with the Disney Wish last year, and the Disney Treasure will be the second of four new ships that we’re launching through 2025.”

The ship—which Disney Cruise Line revealed more information about on Tuesday—will set sail December 2024 with all the unique spaces, family entertainment, and world-class dining that Disney Cruise Line is known for. Not to mention, the ship’s theme of adventure will inspire the venues and experiences on board, including all-new stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Parks tales.

disney cruise ship news

“Our newest ship will immerse guests in brand new experiences that are inspired by beloved Disney theme parks and attractions,” Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, said.

Some of the adventures in store for guests include Plaza de Coco , a colorful entertainment restaurant themed to the Disney and Pixar film Coco that will feature live music and entertainment from the film’s characters and the flavors of Mexico. Worlds of Marvel will be a dining experience that includes everyone’s favorite web-slinger, Spider-Man. Then there’s 1923 , a family restaurant that gives guests a taste of old Hollywood and integrates them in the history of The Walt Disney Company.

There will also be more adult-orientated bars such as the Jungle Cruise -inspired Skipper Society that will offer themed cocktails, light snacks, and décor that evokes the witty Jungle Cruise skippers, as well as the Periscope Pub , which will take guests on an adventure 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (or at least it’ll seem that way). Other adult favorite dining such as The Rose , Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement will offer amazing views and gourmet meals.

disney cruise ship news

Then there’s the beloved entertainment on the Disney Treasure.

The Walt Disney Theatre will hold three Broadway-style stage productions including Disney Cruise Line favorites Beauty and the Beast and Seas the Adventure – and an all-new third show that will be announced soon. On the upper decks, Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party will have music, fireworks, and some of the most partying pirates on the seven seas.

In terms of thrills, there’s AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg . Disney Cruise Line’s own attraction at sea will plunge guests into the world of Mickey Mouse and his animated shorts, so not only will there be a fun storyline to follow, but also 760 feet of winding tubes that will offer breathtaking views of the ocean and the Disney Treasure itself.

A Sneak Peek at ‘Disney Treasure,’ Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship

A cruise ship in sea.

While more and more cruise ships are beginning to feel like floating theme parks courtesy an abundance of onboard thrills, no one has mastered this realm quite like Disney . Now, on the heels of Disney Wish, which launched last year, Disney Treasure will set sail in December 2024 with seven-night Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral. “We were inspired by Walt Disney's love of traveling all around the world and his spirit of adventure,” said Pam Rawlins, an executive producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, at a much-anticipated ship reveal held onboard the Disney Wish last week while it was docked in Florida . “We are taking you to real-world beautiful places , but also fantastical stories that we bring to life on the Disney Treasure .”

Rawlins and a team of Imagineers worked tirelessly to bring iconic stories like Aladdin, Avengers, Coco , and Zootopia to life in fresh ways on board—new spaces include Sarabi, a Lion King -themed lounge, plus an ice cream parlor that's themed after the zany world of Zootopia, complete with sculptures of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps. In a first for the brand, Disney Treasure will also feature venues based on popular Disney attractions and an entire Disney Park (case in point: The 2,000-square-foot EPCOT-themed Tomorrow Tower Suite, which has space for eight).

The Sarabi entertainment zone was inspired by The Lion King.

More than 20 restaurants and bars promise a different theme for every bite. Disney Cruise Line is known for its evening rotational dining dinner service, a Disney Cruise staple since 1998, in which guests and their service staff travel through three distinct dining experiences throughout a voyage. A brand-new main dining room concept making its debut on the Disney Treasure is Plaza de Coco, the first theatrical dining experience inspired by the Disney and Pixar blockbuster Coco —each night will host a different show starring Coco characters Miguel and his family, and guests can experience this theater-in-the-round-style dining room twice on a sailing. "This is a truly immersive experience. You actually get to dine with Miguel and his family through musical extravaganza—it's going to be a lot of fun," said Daniel Cowen, a senior manager overseeing dining standards and service excellence.

Other options include the fan-favorite 1923 from the Disney Wish , which makes an appearance on Disney Treasure with a new look: Interior display cases will showcase artwork and moldings from Disney movies that highlight exploration and adventure. Also familiar to those who’ve sailed on Disney Wish is Worlds of Marvel, with shows featuring superheroes like Ant-Man and the Wasp.

An interior of a cruise ship.

The Aladdin -themed Grand Hall, where special shows will unfold each evening

There will be plenty of strong drinks and laughs at the Skipper Society bar, where nods to the Magic Kingdom’s Jungle Cruise attraction include a monkey-shaped chandelier; the Periscope Pub, meanwhile, is the place for craft beers—it’s also the ultimate throwback for fans of the movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Fantasyland attraction that was beloved at Walt Disney World from 1971 to 1994. And rounding up the dining offerings is the Zootopia -themed Jumbeaux’s Sweets, where 20 flavors of house-made gelato and specialty treats abound.

Disney ships are, understandably, a long-standing favorite with families, and the Disney Treasure ups the ante with a host of thrilling new activities and immersive experiences for travelers of all ages. Passengers are welcomed into the Aladdin -themed Grand Hall upon embarkation, where Mickey Mouse and various Disney princesses are often milling about under a massive golden chandelier. "We'll be bringing the Grand Hall chandelier to life very similar to how we we did the Disney Wish with lighting, media, and fiber optics,” said Rawlins. Special shows will also unfold beneath it on evenings throughout the voyage. One of the main entertainment zones is Sarabi, a two-story lounge that serves as the central hub for daily activities; at night, The Lion King -themed lounge turns into an adults-only space where parents can kick back and relax to watch comedy shows, play games, or enjoy live music. The AquaMouse waterslide, which debuted on Disney Wish , makes an appearance on the top deck, but with a new, exclusive animated short—following Mickey and Minnie Mouse as they traverse an ancient temple in search of treasure—that guests watch from their rafts before sliding through open tubes around the perimeter of the deck.

An interior of a cruise ship.

The 2,000-square-foot EPCOT-themed Tomorrow Tower Suite has enough space for eight.

The Disney Treasure is shaping up to be a ship unlike any other in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. But there's no need to wish upon a star to join its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024: Bookings open for members of Disney Cruise Line’s loyalty program, Castaway Club, on September 12, and to the general public on September 20.

Disney's Newest Cruise Ship Is Its Best Ever — Here's Why

Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, the Disney Wish, sets sail on its maiden voyage this month, and we took it for a test cruise.

Elizabeth Rhodes is a special projects editor at Travel + Leisure , covering everything from luxury hotels to theme parks to must-pack travel products. Originally from South Carolina, Elizabeth moved to New York City from London, where she started her career as a travel blogger and writer.

disney cruise ship news

Disney Cruise Line 's newest ship is different — and that's why we love it. The company was voted the best large-ship ocean cruise line in Travel + Leisure 's 2022 World's Best Awards , and the new Disney Wish is its best vessel yet.

The quintessentially Disney touches that make this cruise line so popular — appearances from Mickey and pals, a deck party with fireworks, themed dining and spaces for all ages, and attentive service from every cast member — are all there. But the Disney Wish elevates the Disney Cruise Line experience with a balance of sophistication and whimsy.

When speaking with Imagineers and Disney Cruise Line leaders on board, they explained the ship's motif of enchantment — a concept integral to many classic Disney films — found in the staterooms, restaurants, recreation areas, and castle-like Grand Hall, the first place guests encounter when boarding on embarkation day.

Walking on board the Disney Wish and entering the Grand Hall feels like stepping into a fairy tale. The large, atrium-like space features soaring columns that lead up to a constellation-speckled ceiling, with a chandelier reminiscent of Cinderella's ball gown at the center and a statue of the heroine herself at the bottom of the staircase. You might even spot a princess or prince waving from the balcony as you walk inside the bright and beautiful space. The tone for the cruise is set here, as you find yourself instantly immersed in the whimsical world of Disney storytelling in an upscale, modern setting that appeals to all ages.

And when we say there's something for guests of all ages, we mean it. With its newest ship, Disney has mastered the art of combining characters, film franchises, and experiences that kids, teens, young families, and even adults traveling without children will enjoy. From the adorable It's a Small World-themed nursery to the tween and teen-focused Edge and Vibe spaces, there are engaging spaces for children from six months to 17 years old. And Disney's Oceaneer Club, accessed by slide from the Grand Hall, includes Marvel, Star Wars , and princess-inspired areas, along with a Mickey playground and the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, where kids can learn Imagineering secrets and participate in STEAM-infused activities.

As I walked through the space with Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, she pointed out each unique touch that makes the Oceaneer Club such a fun and immersive environment for children, down to tiny details that only a trained eye could spot.

That attention to detail is evident throughout the adults' spaces, too. Star Wars : Hyperspace Lounge is perhaps the most hotly anticipated bar on board the Disney Wish , with cocktails inspired by the planets that guests see through the viewport — when they're not blasting through hyperspace, that is.

Cocktail menus at Nightingale's, a piano bar with "Cinderella"-inspired touches, and The Bayou, a beautiful lounge with "The Princess and the Frog" influences, are delightful and diverse, with fun drinks featuring unique elements. In fact, throughout the ship, you'll find tasty, on-trend cocktails — think popsicle-infused spritzes, smoke bubble-topped libations, and sparkly drinks with edible glitter. And it's not all smoke and bubbles — Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by chef Arnaud Lallement offer fine dining for adults only, in a charming setting inspired by "Beauty and the Beast."

We had the chance to enjoy a meal from the esteemed three-Michelin-starred chef, and the tasting menu — starring some dishes you may find at his highly regarded restaurant in Champagne, France — was delicious, alongside a view of the limitless ocean right outside the panoramic windows. Untangled Salon, Hook's Barbery, Senses Spa, Senses Fitness center, and the adults-only deck and pool area offer more grown-up entertainment and relaxation, proving that a Disney cruise is just as fun for adults.

Family-friendly spaces throughout the ship boast a number of Disney firsts: AquaMouse, the first-ever Disney attraction at sea; Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, Disney's first Frozen -themed dining experience featuring singing, dancing, and an adorable Olaf; Worlds of Marvel, the first Marvel dining adventure; and a Broadway-style adaptation of "The Little Mermaid."

There's also the first-of-its-kind two-story Wish Tower Suite, located in the ship's forward funnel and themed to "Moana," with accommodations for up to eight guests. Plus, there are four beautiful Royal Suites and more concierge-level staterooms and suites. No matter the room type, though, guests will enjoy intelligently designed staterooms with fairy-tale touches — even the hallway carpets incorporate symbols from movies like "Tangled" and "Cinderella." And while cute and whimsical, these movie-inspired details aren't over-the-top; the rooms still feel modern, upscale, and bright.

Over the last two years, travel has been challenging, and in many ways, a cruise on the Disney Wish feels like a reprieve from the stress of family vacation planning. I love researching and planning trips, but there's something so relaxing about stepping onto a ship and knowing that everything will be taken care of, from meal planning to child care. And the Disney Wish — with its Michelin-worthy cuisine, beautiful suites, high-caliber entertainment, and fantastical touches — feels like a high-end experience.

The Disney Wish sets sail on its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022, offering three- and four-night itineraries from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay — Disney's private island — in the Bahamas . The ship is the first of three new vessels to be built through 2025 at the Meyer Werft shipyard. We don't have details on these ships yet, but with the Wish sailing the high seas, Disney Cruise Line's future looks pretty magical.

The all-new Disney Treasure is the sixth ship to join the magical Disney Cruise Line fleet, and while it doesn't officially set sail until December 2024, "Good Morning America" got a sneak peek at what's on deck.

In a virtual grand reveal event on Wednesday morning, Disney Cruise Line shared never-before-seen renderings and details about the new Disney Treasure that guests can expect aboard the sister ship of the Disney Wish.

What to expect aboard the new Disney Treasure

The ship's overall design was "inspired by Walt Disney's love of exploration" and the theme of the ship is adventure, complete with Peter Pan and Captain Hook as the star stern characters.

Guests will be surrounded by the motif throughout their experience and even Captain Minnie Mouse will sport a new adventure-ready ensemble that was created exclusively for the new ship.

The ship will feature all-new themed venues and live experiences with touches that bring Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar and Disney Parks to life like never before, from the colorful plazas of Mexico as seen in "Coco" to diving "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" within the iconic Nautilus.

Two venues onboard the Disney Treasure will pull from the worlds of Disney and Pixar.

First up, the Plaza de Coco, a theatrical dining experience themed to the hit 2017 animated film "Coco," complete with the story of Miguel and vibrant mariachi performances, his family's history and the famed magic guitar.

PHOTO: The new Jumbeaux's Sweets aboard the Disney Treasure was inspired by Zootopia.

The second is Jumbeaux's Sweets, reminiscent of the popular ice cream parlor Jumbeaux's Café from "Zootopia." The pink Victorian-style shop will serve 20 flavors of handmade gelato and 16 flavors of ice cream, as well as sorbets, specialty treats, candies and more.

Theme park adventures onboard the new Disney Treasure

Another first for Disney Cruises is the addition of a few beloved Disney Parks attraction-inspired venues.

PHOTO: The Periscope Pub venue was inspired by the spellbinding adventure of Walt Disney's 1954 film, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."

The Skipper Society, located near the Grand Hall, will take guests into the world of the Jungle Cruise on the high seas. The lounge with poker and other games will be filled with tributes to the trusty, dry-witted skippers, references like a monkey-shaped chandelier, postcards, luggage tags and a canopy of jungle foliage, plus themed cocktails, light snacks and live entertainment.

The Periscope Pub will be Disney Cruise Line's first venue inspired by the spellbinding 1954 adventure film and former ride, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," designed with submarine-style interiors and 19th century steampunk influences to make passengers feel like Captain Nemo on the Nautilus, and a decorative statement rug featuring his fabled nemesis, the giant squid.

The pub will be more of a casual venue ideal for guests looking to unwind, watch live sports or news and enjoy a menu of craft brews and light bites.

Finally, the Tomorrow Tower Suite was designed to capture the forward-thinking design of EPCOT. The nearly 2,000-square-foot accommodation, set high in the ship's forward funnel, is a one-of-a-kind suite that comfortably sleeps eight people and overlooks the top deck of the ship with an expansive two-story window. The suite is full of dynamic art pieces, molten metal accents and futuristic, colorful glass accents that will evoke the distinct atmosphere of EPCOT's World Discovery neighborhood.

More magical details about the Disney Treasure

PHOTO: Inspired by Walt Disney’s love of exploration, this new design concept will pave the way for epic experiences that immerse guests in some of the company’s most legendary stories.

Since construction first began in January at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, Disney Parks Blog has revealed a handful of details about the new ship, including the stern character sculptures of Peter Pan and Captain Hook to honor the adventure theme.

"Harnessing the power of Tinker Bell's pixie dust, Peter Pan will levitate next to the Disney Treasure to add the finishing touch to the ship's stern filigree," Disney Parks Blog announced last month. "Meanwhile, Peter Pan's longtime rival, Captain Hook can be seen leaning out a porthole with a vengeful expression on his face. Paintbrush and paint bucket in hand, Peter Pan sports a mischievous grin as he glances back at Captain Hook, who is dripping in yellow paint."

The Grand Hall is "inspired by the mystery and grandeur of a gilded palace" with real-world influences from Asia and Africa, and statues of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine to pay homage to the fictional land of Agrabah.

In the video reveal, Disney showed off how the ship blends "one-of-a-kind offerings with unparalleled hospitality that distinguishes every Disney Cruise line vacation."

Concept art of the new Disney Adventure, which will have its home port in Singapore

More details about Disney's plans to expand its cruise line into Asia have emerged with an announcement about the entertainment onboard its new ship which will have its home in Singapore when it comes on stream next year.

Named the Disney Adventure, the 208,000-ton ship is one of the world's biggest cruise liners. Disney reportedly bought it for just $44 million in 2022 after its previous owner, Hong Kong-based Genting Cruise Lines, fell into administration. At the time, it was set to accommodate up to 9,000 passengers making it the world's biggest cruise liner by passenger capacity though Disney has since scaled it back to 6,700. Instead of sailing it to the United States to join the six other ships in its fleet, Disney decided to make the Adventure its first cruise liner with a home port in Asia.

As part of a collaboration between Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board, the mega-ship will sail for at least five years from the Marina Bay Cruise Center just a 12 minute drive from Universal Studios Singapore. The location seems like a no-brainer as it brings the fight to the doorstep of Disney's biggest rival, but actually Mickey may be charting the wrong course.

Disney's ships are designed in an Art Deco style to reflect the golden age of cruising but inside they are awash with the kind of fairytale trappings that guests find in its theme parks. Photo opps with cuddly characters are de rigueur, as are Broadway-style extravaganzas based on classic Disney cartoons.

Best High-Yield Savings Accounts Of 2024

Best 5% interest savings accounts of 2024.

Its latest ship, the Disney Wish, is also home to an interactive dinner show featuring scenes specially-shot by the actors of the wildly-popular Avengers superhero movies. On its top deck there is even an innovative water slide with screens set into the side of the tubes which tell a story about Mickey Mouse whilst riders rocket past on rafts propelled by powerful jets of water.

The Disney Adventure is set to make an even bigger splash as it will have an entire street themed to 2014's animated Oscar-winner Big Hero 6 which was a huge hit in Asia. A poolside retreat will be inspired by another animated favorite – Moana – while shops and restaurants will be based on classic Disney cartoons like The Little Mermaid and Lilo & Stitch . The Avengers will have their own hub.

"We're bringing the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Asia for the first time ever, and we want to give our guests the cruise relaxation and Disney fun they can only experience aboard one of our ships," said Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line. "When they set sail on the Disney Adventure, guests will find incredible, immersive areas that bring the worlds of Disney, Pixar and Marvel to life in ways like never before – and these uniquely Disney experiences will inspire families to reconnect, recharge and make unforgettable memories that they'll cherish forever."

They are the same kind of sentiments that Disney says guests will get from a visit to its theme parks and it's no coincidence. Disney's ships are almost the equivalent of mini theme parks which makes them ideal for locations where the media giant doesn't have an entertainment complex.

Unlike Universal, Disney has repeatedly rejected the opportunity to build inner city Family Entertainment Centers, instead choosing to focus on fewer, much larger, resorts scattered around the world.

There are only six Disney theme park resorts and although this is one more than Universal, its rival is expected to overtake it in the coming years with new outposts in Texas and the United Kingdom. Disney's theme park strategy leaves it under-exposed in a number of major markets including India, Australia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates which is one of the wealthiest untapped areas as we have reported .

In the fall last year, Disney launched its first cruises in Australia where its closest park is a nine and a half hour flight away from the country's biggest city, Sydney. It may seem like the Adventure ship is plugging a similar gap as Disney doesn't have a park in Singapore.

However, Asia is dripping with them. With parks in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo, Disney has more resorts in Asia than in the Americas. All three are within a seven-hour flight from Singapore with Hong Kong less than four hours away which is no bad thing at all.

As we recently reported , when Disney launched its cruise line in 1998, it opened its Castaway Cay private island in the Bahamas at the same time. This enabled it to sell twin-center breaks where stays at Walt Disney World in Orlando are combined with a cruise to Castaway Cay. It sets off from Port Canaveral, just 50 minutes by car from Orlando, with transportation laid on by Disney to make the two destinations seem like they are part of the same vacation.

Thanks to their immersive theming, Disney's cruises are popular with mega-fans as well as families. Many of the former have the biggest budgets and therefore give Disney the greatest gains. So much so indeed that in 2022 its Adventures By Disney tour operator launched a 24-day package visiting every Disney park by private jet for the princely price of $110,000 per person. Despite being in the midst of the pandemic, it sold out so fast that the tour returned the following year at the increased price of $115,000. Yet again it sold out so it is taking place for a third time in 2024.

With three Disney resorts within striking distance of Singapore it seems like a no-brainer to schedule a cruise that takes them all in but, remarkably, this doesn't seem to be on the cards. Disney's announcement makes it clear that the Adventure will sail on cruises for three and four nights from Singapore which is just about enough time to get to Hong Kong but not back. It certainly isn't enough time to take in all three of Disney's Asian resorts which are widely seen to be the jewels in its crown as we have reported .

Disney's cruises do not visit Tokyo DisneySea (Photo by Tomohiro Ohsumi/Getty Images)

It isn't currently even possible to book any Disney cruises to or from Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo despite all three being port cities with the theme parks in the latter located just a 22 minute drive from the terminal. A tour to these parks by ship would take several weeks though people would be prepared to pay a premium as Adventures By Disney has shown.

Disney could claim that this would defeat the object of the Adventure as it wouldn't be visiting untapped areas. However, if that is the driving force behind its location then Singapore isn't the ideal place for its home port as so many Disney parks are within a such a small catchment area.

Just last month, Disney's chief financial officer Hugh Johnston said that "the cruise business, frankly, is one that has an enormous number of opportunities for us" and it seems it hasn't plumbed the depths of all of them yet. The lack of a cruise which takes in all of the Asian resorts is another example of Disney leaving money on the table and it hasn't escaped the attention of other operators.

Testimony to this, cruising giant Holland America Line operates a voyage which visits the cities where all three resorts are located and it has been travelled with this benefit in mind by Disney mega-fans.

As we recently reported , the media giant has also been left in the wake of luxury operator Princess which was the first operator to introduce an on-board wireless guest recognition system even though Disney developed its own technology years earlier for its theme parks.

Likewise, as we also reported , earlier this year Princess swung open the doors to by far the most immersive entertainment experience at sea. Its spooky Spellbound nightspot is the first permanent outpost of Hollywood's exclusive Magic Castle club and it is packed with high-tech trickery. The venue has emerged ahead of a lounge based on Disney's Haunted Mansion theme park attraction which is due to debut on its new Treasure ship in December.

Industry giant Royal Caribbean has also cruised into Disney's waters with ships which are laden with attractions. In January it launched Icon of the Seas, the world's largest cruise liner which is also home to the Thrill Island water park, the largest at sea. Of course, other operators don't have Disney's characters and theme parks to keep them afloat and that's all the more reason why the Mouse should make the most of them.

Cruise lines changing itineraries as Hurricane Beryl charges through Caribbean

With ports on both sides of the state, Florida is a popular destination for those planning a cruise.

Those plans are being disrupted this week after Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Carriacou Island Monday as a powerful Category 4 storm with 150-mph winds.

➤  Track Hurricane Beryl

The hurricane has grown since then, and is now at Category 5 hurricane with 165-mph winds as it moves west across the Caribbean Sea . Life-threatening winds and storm surge are expected to impact Jamaica by Wednesday.

Here's what you should know if you're scheduled to take a cruise.

Cruisemapper shows few cruise ships in Caribbean as Hurricane Beryl continues westward path

There were a few cruise ships in the Caribbean Sea early Tuesday, with most only going as far south as Jamaica and most concentrated along the Mexican coast, according to cruisemapper.com.

A few ships were shown in Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands.

Most ships were concentrated around the Bahamas and off the east coast of Florida.

Beryl is expected to bring life-threatening winds and storm surge to Jamaica Wednesday as it moves quickly west across the Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean Blog announces changes to itineraries because of Hurricane Beryl

▶  Royal Caribbean had three ships in the southeastern Caribbean as of July 1 and announced it was changing cruise ship itineraries because of Hurricane Beryl, according to Royal Caribbean Blog.

Icon of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, and Harmony of the Seas have all changed itineraries due to the hurricane, according to the website.

Royal Caribbean's newest and largest ship — Icon of the Seas — departed from Miami, June 29, days before Beryl hit the eastern Caribbean. The ship was scheduled to visit St. Maarten and St. Thomas, among other locations in the eastern Caribbean. Instead it will visit Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. Cruisemapper.com showed the ship off Cozumel Tuesday morning.

Royal Caribbean notified passengers via email of the itinerary change intended to avoid strong winds and high waves on the sea.

Wonder of the Seas, which left Port Canaveral June 30, will skip two ports and call on Nassau, Bahamas, the blog announced. Tuesday morning, cruisemapper showed the ship between Key West and Cuba.

“We’re terribly sorry for the last-minute change caused by the weather, your safety is our top priority," the letter read.

"Please know, being onboard is one of the safest places because we are faster and can move out of the way of any inclement weather."

Norwegian Cruise Line changes stops to avoid eastern Caribbean

▶  Norwegian Cruise Line  altered nearly the entire itinerary for a week-long sailing on its Norwegian Breakaway ship that departed from Miami on Sunday. The line canceled stops in Honduras, Harvest Caye in Belize, and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, according to a letter sent to guests the line shared with USA TODAY. The ship will instead visit Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas instead.

“While we share your disappointment, these modifications were made with great consideration as your safety, and that of our crew, is always our number one priority,” the letter said.

The line similarly changed a week-long sailing aboard Norwegian Jade that left Port Canaveral on Saturday, replacing planned calls in Falmouth, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel with San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tortola and Puerto Plata.

Disney Cruise Line replaces Falmouth visit with sea day

▶  Disney Cruise Line’s  Disney Fantasy ship — which set sail on a  week-long cruise  from Port Canaveral on Saturday — will not visit Falmouth as planned on Wednesday. The stop will be replaced with a  sea day .

Disney Destiny (2025)

Disney Destiny, hull number 706, will be built at Meyer Werft in Germany. The eighth ship will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same as the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure – 343 meters, approximately 140,000 gross tons with 1,250 guest staterooms planned for a maximum 4000 passengers – which is slightly larger than the Dream class. Due to the pandemic, the delivery for the ship was pushed to 2025 , and the Disney Destiny name was announced as part of the keel laying ceremony on March 20, 2024 .

The design theme of the Disney Destiny, sister to the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure, will be “Heroes and Villains,” drawing on the legacy of beloved Disney stories, characters and theme park attractions, to forge a cruise vacation that will empower guests to embrace their own calling aboard every unforgettable voyage.

DCL Disney Destiny Name Plate Logo

The Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams were inspired by the dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose, when developing the Disney Destiny. Onboard, guests will encounter heroes and villains alike – including those from beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios stories like “The Lion King,” “Hercules” and “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” – within the spaces, experiences and entertainment throughout their voyage.

To embody and embolden the theme, Disney also unveiled brand-new filigree artwork for the bow of the Disney Destiny, continuing a beloved Disney Cruise Line design tradition. The illustration depicts Minnie Mouse striking a valiant pose in a heroic ensemble, her cape waving majestically in the sea breeze as she boldly leads guests toward their vacation destinies.
