Indian Rocks Beach Cruises

Several outfitters offer scenic sunset cruises near Indian Rocks Beach so that you can witness the colorful display of the sunset from the water. Captain K Dog Cruises offers private sunset cruises with Captain Karsten for your party of up to 10 guests. His cruises depart from the Belleair Causeway near Indian Rocks Beach. For public cruises you can book a sunset tour with Hubbard’s Marina . Their sunset cruises depart out of John’s Pass in Madeira Beach daily (in season) and include free beer and wine. Along the way, make sure to keep an eye out for dolphins playing in the water.

Indian Rocks Beach Sunset Events

If you want a unique way to watch the sunset, consider joining one of the local events or groups in Indian Rocks Beach. Yoga on the Beach brings together a spirited group of yoga lovers at the North Beach access at 6 pm every Tuesday and Thursday. If you are a skimboard lover, then join the IRB Skim Community on Fridays at 7 pm for a fun sunset skim. And lovers of drumming, dancing, and music can join the Indian Rocks Beach Drum Circles on Wednesday evenings across from Guppy’s on the Beach.

You can also head to Clearwater Beach for a nightly sunset event at Pier 60 . The sunset celebration features artisans, street performers, and of course, picturesque sunsets!

I don't have to much to say about my sunset boat tours, for the most part, they speak for themselves.  However, I will add that each one is different.  After the we view the dolphins playing, the sun drops under the horizon, we will just pause for a few minutes watching the colors in the sky change as light falls.  On the way back to the dock, we will continue to see its beauty.  The birds usually thicken the evening sky heading back to their nighttime island habitats.

 The sunset cruise leaves from Hubbard’s Marina inside historical Johns Pass.  Our big blue dolphin watching nature cruise and eco tour boat also runs our sunset cruise with free beer and wine.  This trip is a relaxing hour and a half cruise through the back protected bay waters then on the way home you get a front row seat for the sunset as the boat cruises along the beautiful gulf beaches showing you the beautiful beach hotels during the golden hour on your right with a gorgeous sunset to your left.

During the sunset cruise we turn the music up a little louder and enjoy the festivities while captain announces information about the wildlife and surrounding areas.  We don’t guarantee dolphins on the sunset cruise but we do see them often and if you drink enough free beer and wine who knows what you might see!

All tours are fully narrated, informative and fun. Boats are U.S. Coast Guard certified. For your convenience, refreshments, snacks and restrooms are available on board. Boats offer covered, comfortable seating along with open decks and easy ramp access.

Whether you're feeling a need for speed, or you're looking to catch a calming, peaceful sunset on a dinner cruise; you don't have to look too far. Indian Rocks Beach is within easy access to all of the nearby marinas that offer "on-the-water" attractions. Both Clearwater Beach Marina and Hubbard's Marina in Madeira Beach are just a short drive or trolley ride from our IRB vacation rental homes . Both marinas are home to commercial vessels that include small cruise charters, parasailing, personal watercraft rentals (jet skiis & waverunners), sunset dinner cruises, and more. It's easy to enjoy a romantic evening on the water with your honey or an adventure packed afternoon flying above the water enjoying beautiful views with a parasail overhead. While these two popular beach towns offer lots of touristy things to do... it's always nice to retreat to the calm, quiet, vibe that Indian Rocks Beach is known for. Indian Rocks

The sky is clear, and the Gulf has turned a deep green. Leaving Sand Key behind, we pass Belleair Beach and soon Indian Rocks Beach is to our left. Legend has it that the island got its name from a story about a fresh water spring surrounded by rocks located in what is now Kolb Park that the native Indians believed could heal the sick. Indian Rocks Beach offers a quaint mix of old Florida cottages, condominiums and hotels. The beautiful stretch of beach is a favorite of many visitors. Indian Rocks Beach offers great places for casual Florida dining along Gulf Boulevard.

We watch a formation of pelicans gliding low over the Gulf water on a layer of dense air. So regal in flight, pelicans are rather comical on land with their long bills and mouth sacks. The brown pelican common to North America finds its meals by plunge diving and catching fish in its beak sack. Careening from the air and plunging into the Gulf, the pelicans are quite a show!

Our captain continues south along Indian Shores, home to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary on Gulf Boulevard. This organization is dedicated to the care and release of injured birds of all kinds native to the Gulf Coast, pelicans being among them. We pass Tiki Gardens, a beautiful seven-acre park and public Gulf beach access, a great place for a family outing with its beautiful landscaping, native plant life, restrooms, showers and water fountains.

Say hello to the folks at the Doubletree Beach Resort by Hilton and the RamSea Rental Condominium Resort on N. Redington Shores, great beach resorts where you may be staying. This is another primarily residential Gulf city with many visitors to its beautiful beach. Passing close to the end of the 1200 foot long Redington Long Pier, we are able to wave to the people fishing and sightseeing there. This beach was once the home of the famous Tides Bath Club, a resort frequented by celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio and Alfred Hitchcock. On the same beach property today stands a new Tides Bath Club, a complex of six condominium buildings.

The dolphins suddenly appearing to jump and play love the big wake made by our monohull boats. We attract more dolphins than anyone else.
