Review – “Jeff Dunham: Still Not Canceled”

Since he was eight years old, Jeff Dunham has been stunning people with his comedic ventriloquism. From the 18 years of performing at comedy clubs to the record-holding tours, Jeff Dunham is considered one of the greatest comedians of all time. And after seeing him in person, I can see why. 

On Oct. 7, I had the pleasure of seeing Jeff Dunham perform at the CHI Health Center for his most recent tour, “Jeff Dunham: Still Not Canceled.” Just like every other performance in his tour, Dunham brought out five puppets: Walter, Bubba J, Achmed, José Jalapeño on a Stick and Peanut. However, unlike other shows, we were able to get an entire performance dedicated to providing a sneak peak of Dunham’s upcoming Valentine’s Day special, which will be released next year on Comedy Central. 

For the Valentine’s Day preview, each one of Dunham’s puppets took turns describing to the audience how people should celebrate Valentine’s Day with their loved ones. Walter was the first puppet to take the stage, but to the audience’s surprise, he was dressed like Cupid. Walter is known to always be super grumpy and ill-tempered, never afraid to say whatever is on his mind, so it was hilarious to see him dressed up as a character that represents love. He made lots of jokes about how he and his wife celebrate Valentine’s Day, though compared to most people’s marriages, Walter’s is full of hatred towards his wife for no apparent reason. I thought that these jokes were some of the funniest ones from Walter’s segment, really showing his personality in his comedy.

After Walter finished his segment, Dunham brought out the second puppet of the show, Bubba J. Bubba J is based on a stereotypical redneck, so lots of the jokes that were made during his segment were about him and his wife being related. One of my favorite moments from Bubba’s section of the show was when his lazy eye would drift off in all sorts of directions, and judging by the audience’s reaction, it was one of their favorites too. Although Bubba J’s lazy eye was one of my favorite parts of the show, as a whole, Bubba J was probably my least favorite character. He wasn’t unfunny or anything like that, I just think that the other puppets had funnier segments.

His jokes were some of the best-written jokes I’ve heard from Dunham, and even he had to stop to catch his breath from dying of laughter.

The third puppet to come out on stage was Achmed. Achmed is a skeleton who blew himself up while trying to complete his terrorist mission. Because the media has become uncomfortable with Achmed being in Dunham’s shows, Jeff dressed up Achmed as a Greek god and called him Achmedes. “Achmedes” explained his troubles with finding love for Valentine’s Day because he is dead, as well as a terrorist. Achmed is known to have his limbs fall off during his segments, which I, including the rest of the audience, found extremely funny. For every other show, Achmed has a signature line that he says: “Stop! I keel you!” However, because he was Achmedes for the show, his new line was, “Stop! I keel you…with love!” Out of all the puppets, Achmed was probably my favorite. His jokes were some of the best-written jokes I’ve heard from Dunham, and even he had to stop to catch his breath from dying of laughter. I particularly enjoyed how Jeff didn’t change a ton about Achmed just because some people were uncomfortable with him. He stayed true to his roots and did what he thought would bring the most laughter to everyone watching, which I thought was super cool. 

After Achmed was done with his Greek god bit, two final puppets took the stage: Peanut and José Jalapeño on a Stick. Peanut is an extremely hyper purple monkey who never seems to have any respect for anyone but himself. José, on the other hand, is always very relaxed. Together, the two puppets get into arguments about almost anything, but for my particular show, they argued about what to tell someone you love on Valentine’s Day. After they argued for about ten minutes, Peanut started to make fun of Dunham, which was really funny because it was like watching someone make fun of themselves. Another really funny part about Peanut’s segment was when he answered questions that the audience had written before the show. Somehow he ended up pretending like he didn’t have a tongue, and the audience responded with some of the loudest laughter I have ever heard. 

Overall, I thought the show was fantastic, and I recommend it to anybody who is in need of a good laugh.

Although it probably shouldn’t be watched by younger kids, going to a Jeff Dunham show is a perfect way to listen to some outstanding comedy. So if he comes back, try to see him live, but in the meantime, you should make the time to watch any of his many specials on Netflix, Comedy Central, Amazon Prime and most other streaming services.

I went to the show in Boston, drove 1hr and 20 mins. and it felt like an overpriced movie ticket with advertisements. Funnier earlier in his career for sure. Now it’s sell sell sell…apparel, hot sauce, cookies, ventriloquist dolls…I believe I’ll just watch him from my couch from now on, if he’s on.

Comedian Jeff Dunham is currently midway through a vast, nationwide tour, and, as always, all his friends are coming along for the ride.

The veteran ventriloquist still has 43 upcoming shows at arenas, coliseums and auditoriums all over the U.S. from January through May as part of his “Still Not Cancelled Tour.”

That includes big gigs at Albany’s MVP Arena on Feb. 8, Newark’s Prudential Center on Feb. 26 and Binghamton’s Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on April 14.

In an interview, Dunham claimed he’s hoping to “bring comedy back” on the tour.

What the 60-year-old comic is implying is that he wants his show to evoke an era where audiences didn’t know the comedian’s politics were, and the comic “made fun of both sides equally.”

This statement should be taken with a grain of salt, though — Dunham’s act does employ offensive racial stereotypes as punchlines for a handful of his characters.

All that being said, he still describes the show as “good, stupid fun.”

The “Still Not Cancelled Tour” will send Dunham to venues in major cities and towns all the way up until his swan song at the Warner Theatre in Erie, PA on May 4.

Just a few of the most notable stops on his jaunt include Houston (Jan. 11), Tampa (Jan. 27), Green Bay (March 15), Atlanta (March 19) and Baltimore (April 15).

Jeff Dunham: Seriously Tour is heading to the UK

Record-breaking, global comedy superstar, Jeff Dunham, is bringing his cast of characters to the UK in 2022 for six dates only. America’s favourite ventriloquist has announced the UK leg of his ‘Seriously!?’ tour that starts on Thursday 12 th   May at Bournemouth’s International Centre and culminates on Wednesday 18 th   May at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena. 

For more than 14 years, Jeff Dunham   and his delightfully irreverent cohorts, Peanut, Walter, José Jalapeño, Bubba J. and Achmed the Dead Terrorist, have filled arenas across the world with their multiple blockbuster tours. Now, in addition to his usual cast of accomplices, “SERIOUSLY!?” includes the newest member of the troupe, “Larry.” As the President’s personal advisor, he gives his hilarious take on what it’s like to work at the White House.

Dunham   released his last Netflix Originals Stand-up Special, “Jeff Dunham: Beside Himself” in 2019. Comedian Jeff Dunham to bring 'Still Not Canceled' tour to Northern Kentucky

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Jeff Dunham is bringing his new tour to the Tri-State with a stop at Northern Kentucky University's Truist Arena.

The 'Still Not Canceled' Tour will be at Truist Arena on March 20, 2024.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, September 18 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster or at the Truist Arena Box Office. Tickets will be $56, or $156 for the premium bundle. The show is set to start at 7 p.m.

Dunham, along with his crew of misfits, have already filled arenas across the U.S. and the world. Together they have delivered countless laughs and shattered ratings with his broadcast specials, global tours, and a best-selling autobiography.

Dunham has been commemorated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as being in the Guinness Book of World Records for "most tickets sold for a stand-up comedy tour."

His new one-hour Comedy Central Special, “Me the People” premiered in 2022 and became the network’s highest rated stand-up special since his last special, “Jeff Dunham’s Completely Unrehearsed Last-Minute Pandemic Holiday Special” in 2020.

The great thing about Jeff Dunham’s shows is that audience members get six comedians for the price of one. Dunham, the world’s best-known ventriloquist, is bringing along all his favorite characters on his current “Still Not Canceled” Tour.

Dunham will be at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on April 14, accompanied by his puppets Walter, Peanut, Bubba J, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Jose Jalapeno on a Stick, and his newest addition, Url, “the basement dwelling social media smart-phone addict,” according to Dunham’s website .

“Dunham allows each to speak their mind, regardless of how much they embarrass their co-star in the process,” his website says of his beloved characters.

Dunham has had nine record-breaking comedy specials.

Fans in the Nashville area can find tickets to the April 14 show at StubHub , Ticketmaster , Vivid Seats and Seat Geek.

Jeff Dunham has been named Billboard’s Top Comedy Tour three years in a row and is “cited by Forbes as the third highest paid comedian behind Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock,” his website says.

COMEDY SUPERSTAR JEFF DUNHAM BRINGS  HIS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR “STILL NOT CANCELED” TO ABBOTSFORD CENTRE ON FEBRUARY 7TH

After eighteen years of working comedy clubs, building to theaters and ultimately to arenas, Dunham has secured his status as a global touring star, playing live to over 7,250,000 people with 1,390 performances from June 2007 through May 2022, earning the title of Billboard’s Top Comedy Tour for three consecutive years.

Dunham has completed 9 international tours, with shows in more than 20 countries, including arenas in Canada, U.K., Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Sweden , France, Australia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Malaysia, Singapore and South Africa (where he is the highest-selling international comedian). Of note, Dunham sold over 12,000 tickets in the city of Amsterdam alone. In Iceland 2% of the population attended his performance.

CASHLESS PAYMENT

Abbotsford Centre is a fully cashless facility, all food and beverage locations exclusively accept cashless forms of payment. Cash can be exchanged for a gift card via Guest Services, located at Section 104, to accommodate guests.

​Accessibility

A limited number of accessible seating is available for all events at the Abbotsford Centre in specific locations depending on the event and location of the stage. To purchase accessible seating for any event at the Abbotsford Centre, please visit Ticketmaster.ca and toggle on “Accessibility” under Filters or call the Box Office at 604-743-5026.

Abbotsford Centre is equipped with Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) located in various locations throughout the venue. Designated employees, in addition to our medical services providers, have been properly trained and certified to use the AEDs.

Alcohol and beer will be served at most Abbotsford Centre events to those 19 years and older. It is Abbotsford Centre policy to request government photo identification from any guest appearing 40 years of age or younger.

The BC Government requires two pieces of ID for verification of age.

• An official government-issued ID (including foreign government-issued) with name, picture and birth date, such as a driver’s licence or passport
• A secondary ID that includes name and signature  or  picture, such as a credit card or student ID

No alcohol will be allowed to be brought in or out of the venue.

Any person appearing to be intoxicated before entering the Abbotsford Centre may be denied entry. Any guest found intoxicated within the venue or causing a disturbance, as determined by management, will be asked to leave the venue without a refund.

No alcoholic beverage may leave the venue.

Trained service animals are welcome at Abbotsford Centre to provide assistance to guests. All service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. The service animal is required to rest in the seating area of the guest, not in the aisle.

It is recommended that guests contact the Abbotsford Centre by phone at  604-743-5000  or via email at  [email protected]  in advance of their event to ensure we can appropriately accommodate the needs of the guest and his or her animal. All other animals or pets are prohibited from the Abbotsford Centre.

Baby Changing Tables

Baby changing stations are available on all levels of the venue:

• Women’s Washroom located at Section 103
• Family Washroom located at Section 104
• Men’s Washroom located at Section 115
• Family Washroom located at Section 101
• Women’s Washroom located in the Lounge
• Family Washroom located near Suite 20

Bags / Purses

All bags are subject to search upon entering the Abbotsford Centre.  Please have your bag ready for search before entering the Abbotsford Centre to accelerate the process.  Please note, larger type bags like carry bags or backpacks are prohibited.

Banners / Flags

Subject to artist and management approval. Banners and signs will be welcome at Abbotsford Centre as long as it does not disrupt the view or experience of any other fan and the content is tasteful. Banners and signs are subject to search and may be confiscated if messages are inappropriate. Banner poles and sign sticks are not permitted.

Guests who ride their bike to Abbotsford Centre can secure it at several conveniently located bike racks around the venue

• King Road at College Drive
• Near the main entrance on University Way

Abbotsford Centre welcomes all guests to bring their own binoculars to further their enjoyment of their event as long as it does not interfere with the viewing enjoyment of other Abbotsford Centre guests.

Cameras & Photography

Professional cameras are not allowed inside the Abbotsford Centre. The Abbotsford Centre defines a professional camera as “a camera, digital or otherwise, with a detachable/interchangeable lens of any size/type.” The Abbotsford Centre’s camera policy is subject to change for concerts and all other events at the request of the artist/performer/team.  This policy will be strictly enforced and management reserves the right to deny any electronic recording devices at their discretion.

Devices that are prohibited include:

• Video cameras/camcorders
• GoPros and audio recording devices
• Selfie sticks

Cancelled / Postponed / Rescheduled Events

In the rare event that an Abbotsford Centre event is cancelled, postponed or rescheduled, please visit  www.abbotsfordcentre.ca  for more information.

With any disruption to scheduled events, information will be posted on the Abbotsford Centre social media channels, our website, as well as an email to all ticket purchasers of that event.

Ticketmaster will also email ticket purchasers with information on refunds for cancelled events or how to obtain a refund for an event that has been postponed or rescheduled if the ticket holder can not make the new date.  Please note: Refunds may not be offered for all events.  For questions or information on a cancelled, postponed or rescheduled event, you can call 604-743-5026 or email  [email protected]

Cannabis Policy

In compliance with City Bylaw 1694-2007, the Abbotsford Centre is a smoke-free venue including the use of cannabis and electronic cigarettes (vaping). Please be aware that guests will not be permitted to exit and re-enter the venue during events.

Children under 24-months of age can access the Abbotsford Centre without a ticket as long as they are able to sit on the ticket holder’s lap and do not obstruct the view or comfort of other Abbotsford Centre guests. Please note that some shows (especially those intended for children) may have a different ticket policy that requires children 24-months and under to have a ticket.

Costumes / Masks

Guests are permitted to wear costumes while attending events at the Abbotsford Centre. However, the costume may not conceal any part of their face while walking through security screening, or when purchasing alcohol. Employees reserve the right to ask anyone to remove their mask at any time during the event.

This policy may be adjusted for specific events. Please check with the Abbotsford Centre before attending your event.

Typically, doors open 1 hour prior to each event. Please be sure to check the event page on our website for the correct time.

There are 3 general entrances for events: the main entrance at Gate 1 is located on the East side of the building on University Way, King Road Entrance at Gate 4 is located on the North side of the building and College Drive Entrance at Gate 7 is located on the South side of the building. Suite and Loge box owners may enter through the Premium Seating Entrance at Gate 2 located to the right of the Main Entrance at Gate 1 on University Way.

Exit / Re-Entry

Abbotsford Centre is committed to providing guests with the safest and most secure environment. Exiting and re-entering the building will not be permitted. Once a ticketed guest has been scanned, guests cannot exit the building and return during the event. Guests with emergencies will be assisted by the Guest Services Team on a case-by-case basis.

Family restrooms can be found on the concourse across from section 104, on the floor level by section 101 and on our suite level by Suite 20.

Our family section is located at section 103, rows 7-21 and is a non-alcohol section, meaning that alcohol cannot be brought into that section.  This policy is in effect at every event we hold here at the Abbotsford Centre. For more questions pertaining to this please call 604-743-5026.

Guest Services

The Guest Services Office is located at section 104 near the main entrance.  Please visit our Guest Services office for any and all questions or concerns.

Lost / Stolen Tickets

If tickets are lost or stolen you should immediately report them to the Box Office at Abbotsford Centre.

For stolen tickets, a copy of the police report must be presented to pick up replacement tickets. Lost tickets are similar to lost cash.

If the Box Office replaces lost tickets, the tickets will only be available at Will Call on the day of the event by the original purchaser with ID and will be subject to a $5 per ticket reprinting charge.

Lost & Found

Lost items during events should be delivered to the Guest Services Office at section 104.  Guests may also check the Guest Services Office for lost items.

If you lost an item at an Abbotsford Centre event, please call our Guest Services Department at 604-743-5000 Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm to claim your item.

After 30 days, items may be donated to non-profit charity organizations or disposed of at the discretion of the Guest Services Manager.

Located on the suite level is our premium lounge.  Guests with a valid lounge, loge box or suite tickets can access the lounge via the Premium Entrance or the elevators from Section 103 on the concourse level.

For Abbotsford Canucks Games, the premium lounge on the suite level is open. Guests with club seats, loge box or suite tickets can access the lounge on a first come first serve basis respecting the capacity limit of 125 people. Please note that the premium lounge will be offering beverage service only at this time.

Merchandise

For most events, merchandise can be purchased at section 101. A secondary location may be opened at section 112, depending on the event.

For Abbotsford Canucks Games, the Team Store at Section 100 is open.

Prohibited Items

For the comfort and safety of everyone at the Abbotsford Centre, a list of prohibited items has been established.

Prohibited items include but are not limited to: – outside food or drink* – carry bags or backpacks – bottles or cans, glass and coolers – containers – illegal substances, alcohol, drugs and other paraphernalia – incendiary devices – weapons of any type, chains, spikes – strollers – banner sticks or flag poles – artificial noise making devices, air horns – laser pointers – helium balloons – audio or video recorders – iPads – GoPros – selfie sticks – pets other than service animals – professional cameras (SLR / DSLR) – items the contents of which cannot be inspected or displayed – helmets, tents, chairs – Personal or refillable water bottles are not permitted in the Abbotsford Centre due to security and health issues.  Bottled water is available at most concessions with the option to refill after purchase using the water fountain or washroom sinks.

Recording Devices

Guests may not bring audio or video recording devices into the Abbotsford Centre. These devices include, but are not limited to:

This policy will be strictly enforced and management reserves the right to deny any electronic recording devices at their discretion.

There are no refunds available for any Abbotsford Centre event, unless otherwise specified by Abbotsford Centre management.

Strollers are not permitted within the seating area of the Abbotsford Centre. Guests have the ability to check their stroller at the Guest Services Office located at section 104. The Abbotsford Centre is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged strollers.

Taxi Service

Taxi’s remain on rotation following each event. Taxi drop off and pick up is available at the Northeast side of the building.  Please note: due to a limited number of taxi’s that are available in Abbotsford, expect delays in service.

Ticket Resellers (Scalpers)

Ticket resellers are not recognized ticket agents of the Abbotsford Centre.  Guests purchasing tickets from a private reseller, intentionally or not, risk being refused entry to the Abbotsford Centre.  The Abbotsford Centre strongly recommends all guests purchase their tickets from the Envision Financial Box Office, or online at  www.ticketmaster.ca  to avoid the possibility of counterfeit, stolen, void or invalid tickets.

Ticket scalping is not allowed on the Abbotsford Centre property. Anyone trying to sell tickets on the property will be asked to leave the premises.

Vaporizers (Electronic Cigarettes)

Water bottles & fountains.

Empty plastic water bottles are welcome at Abbotsford Canucks games & events. Please note that any glass or steel bottles and all types of cans are not permitted. Our water bottle policy for concerts and all other events is subject to change; please contact Fan Services at 604.743.5100 or  [email protected]  to inquire about specific events.

There is a water fountain located at section 103.

Wheelchairs

Abbotsford Centre provides complimentary wheelchair escorts to guests who require additional assistance to and from their seats. Guests can request a wheelchair escort to their seat at the Envision Financial Guest Services Office. Please note that the escort will not remain with a guest during the event, nor will the wheelchair be left with a guest during the event. At the conclusion of the event, an escort will return to the guest’s seat and escort him/her to the most convenient exit gate. Additionally, escorts are available only on Abbotsford Centre property and are not permitted to transport beyond the arena property.

The number of accessible seats may vary by event according to the seating configuration. Please note, the floor is not wheelchair accessible unless otherwise noted.

Shaw provides open WIFI for fans.  When visiting, look for the Shaw GO Wifi network.
