Antalya is located near many of the best landmarks in Turkey , and its reliable transport system means it’s really easy to explore other areas in the country.

How to Take a Day Trip From Antalya

First things first, let’s talk about the ways you can take a day trip. Antalya is a huge city and has a very reliable and trusty transport system. However, some of these day trips are quite a distance, so what is the best way to get to them?

If your chosen attraction is more than an hour or two driving distance outside of Antalya, your best bet would be to hire a car. While buses run regularly and are usually reliable, they are quite slow, and since you’re wanting to take a day trip you’ll want to save as much time as possible.

Some of these day trips require you to fly. Yes, on a plane! But don’t worry, since these attractions are hugely popular, airlines have scheduled flights from as early as 6 AM and returning as late as 11 PM, meaning you could actually fly across the country and see sites and come back the same day. Crazy, right?

Antalya Beach

Another great way to see day trips is through guided tours. This is the best way to see attractions for those who prefer a ‘no fuss’ way to travel since everything is planned and prepared for you.

In most cases, taking a tour from Antalya is safe and usually cover entrance fees and the cost of your transport, but this is not always the case. Do check with the tour company first to make sure, otherwise, it will be a very costly day out.

Tours will pick you up from your hotel, or a central location, for added convenience.

If you would prefer to do a DIY Antalya day trip, no problem! We prefer to work it out for ourselves too. Below in each of our recommended day trips, we have shared our recommended ‘way to get there’, which could be by bus, plane, hiring a car or tour.

It’s a good idea to see which attractions interest you the most, before thinking about transport as you might decide you’d like to take a couple of these day trips from Antalya.

The Best Day Trips from Antalya

So without further ado, here are the best day trips from Antalya, from historic landmarks to iconic natural settings, these attractions simply cannot be missed out on any Antalya itinerary .

Standing not far away from the ever-popular tourist town of Kusadasi, is one of the most iconic cities in the ancient region – Ephesus .

This oasis of archeological sites is one of the most famous landmarks in Turkey, known for its breathtaking 10th century BC Roman and Ancient Greek ruins.

The site covers almost 6.6 square km, featuring a wide collection of incredibly well-preserved Greco-Roman ruins. Ephesus was once the second largest city of the Roman Empire and therefore one of the most important; it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015 .

Izmir-to-Ephesus-Tour

It’s home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the spectacular Temple of Artemis. Over twice the size of any other similar ancient Greek temple sites, it took almost 120 years to complete, before being burnt down in 356 BC.

Other important sites in the complex are the Library of Celsus, Temple of Hadrian, and the mighty Roman Amphitheater capable of housing 24,000 spectators.

Although it’s a long distance from Antalya, it’s possible to travel there and back within a day if you are determined enough, though we recommend you stay overnight if you have more time at your disposal.

Ephesus is simply a must-see attraction in Turkey, especially if you only have a short time in the country and want to see some of the most iconic ancient sites!

  • Distance from Antalya: 411 km (255 miles)
  • Travel time: 5 hours by car, 7 hours by bus, 7 hours 25 minutes by train, 1 hour 10 minutes by plane plus an additional train for 1 hour.
  • Best way to get there: To get to Ephesus, you must first get to Izmir. From Izmir, there are three ways to get to Ephesus . Take a plane from Antalya to Izmir Airport (1 hour 10 minutes). From Izmir airport, there is a train (1 hour) directly to Selcuk. From Selcuk, you can walk for 10 minutes to Ephesus, or take a minibus or taxi. There are flights with SunExpress that leave at around 9.20am, and get to Izmir at 10.30am, which would mean arriving at Ephesus at midday at the latest. We would recommend staying in Selcuk to get some lunch before visiting Ephesus since you’ll want to avoid the midday heat. Return flights operate as late as 10.30pm from Izmir Airport with SunExpress so there is plenty of time to enjoy the sites. If you don’t want to arrange it all yourself, you can also book a tour from Antalya to Ephesus.

2. Lycia Rock Tombs

For a perfect day trip adventure, head around two and a half hours south of Antalya to Dalyan, navigating your way along the beach road and following the beach and turquoise Mediterranean waters.

Soon you will have officially entered the land of the Lycians, the name of the people that lived in this area since the records of Ancient Egypt. The Lycians (pronounced Lik-ee-ans) believed that once you died, your spirit was carried to the afterlife by magical winged creatures.

daily tours antalya

To greater the chances of reaching said afterlife, the Lycians built intricately detailed tombs carved high up into the mountainside, they were mostly reserved for the Kings and Queens of the era.

Built almost 2500 years ago in 500BC, remarkably, these tomb sites are still in excellent condition today and can be seen in small numbers across the region.

  • Distance from Antalya: 139 km (86 miles)
  • Travel time: 2 hours 20 minutes by car, 3 hours by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: The best way to get there is by hiring a car or taking the bus. Since it takes a couple hours, we recommend starting as early as possible. Alternatively, you can book onto a private tour which includes a hotel pick up and drop off.

3. Cappadocia

Best-Time-To-Visit-Cappadocia-Featured

Contrary to popular belief, Cappadocia isn’t just a city, it’s actually the name for the entire central region of Turkey.

Famous for its breathtakingly beautiful landscape and fairytale-like hot air balloon rides that fill the morning sky, Cappadocia has so much to offer the weary traveler wishing to spend a few days in the area. It’s an excellent place for hikes too, with many trails dotted around the towns leading you to historical chimneys, castles, and sunset views to die for.

For something a little out of the ordinary, you should consider a guided tour of Derinkuyu Underground City , a vast, deep, underground city that was effectively a defensive haven during the brutal invasions of the Middle Ages, large enough to shelter up to 20,000 Cappadocia locals.

The distance from Antalya to Cappadocia is quite far, so you’re going to need to fly if you want to see it in a day, however it’s possible to do it.

You can also book yourself onto one of the red tours or green tours , which are day tours of the region. The tours can pick you up and drop you off at the airport, so you can catch a late evening flight back to Antalya.

It will be a bit of a rush, but if you’re short on time in Turkey and are not afraid of long days, then it’s certainly a journey worth taking.

  • Distance from Antalya: 575 km (357 miles)
  • Travel time: 7.5 hours by car, 10 hours by overnight bus, 1 hour 15 minute flight from Antalya to Kayseri Erkilet Airport.
  • Best way to get there: Since it’s a long drive, the best way to get there is to fly. You can find flights leaving as early as 3AM with Turkish Airlines, transfer in Istanbul, and arrive in Nevsehir at 8AM. You will find return flights with Turkish Airlines at 8.50 PM and gets into Antalya at midnight, so you have a whole day of exploring. Since you only have a day, we recommend opting for either the green tour or red tour . You’ll be tired after, but it will be so worth it. If you have more time on your side, consider taking a 2-day tour of Cappadocia from Antalya with an overnight stay in a cave hotel.

4. Koprulu Canyon

daily tours antalya

One of the more popular day tours from Antalya and the local region is Koprulu Canyon. A favorite of the locals and tourists alike, it’s a strikingly picturesque national park for swimming, relaxation, and for those brave enough to attempt, even some white water rafting.

Perfect for escaping the heat of the beach, which trust us, if you’re visiting in the summer you’re going to need to find places to cool down in!

With a monumental stone bridge across the Canyon itself the star of the show, there are also smaller bridges more than worthy of checking out too, allowing you to capture the perfect Instagram shot.

With activities like horse riding and quad safaris on offer as well, there’s so much to do here that you might even decide to make use of the camping facilities at the canyon.

  • Distance from Antalya: 91 km (56 miles)
  • Travel time: 1 hour 40 minutes by car, 45 minutes by bus to Serik and 50 minutes taxi, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Since you would need to take a bus and a taxi (and a 50 minute taxi journey would be expensive) the best and most economical way to get to Koprulu Canyon is to hire a car and drive. If you don’t drive, you can find private tours from local travel agencies to take you to Koprulu Canyon from Antalya, which will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back at your hotel after a full day of exploring.

5. The Taurus Mountains

daily tours antalya

Running almost parallel with the gorgeous Mediterranean sea lies the snow-capped peaks of the Taurus Mountain range (well, snow-capped in the winter). Throughout Turkey’s rich and diverse history, the Taurus Mountains have remained an iconic symbol of its mythological past.

Boasting rugged limestone terrain and towering peaks and cascading waterfalls, the mountain range is home to small, traditional villages where you can stop for a local lunch and get to know those that live in this remote region of Turkey.

Interestingly, the range gets its name from the historic culture of the surrounding land with the bull (Taurus) and being only a few hour’s drive away, it makes for an excellent day trip from Antalya.

  • Distance from Antalya: 250 km (155 miles)
  • Travel time: 3 hours by car, not available by bus or train
  • Best way to visit: Since there are no trains or buses, the best way to visit is to hire a car and drive. Alternatively, you can find excursions from Antalya that will pick you up from any hotel and drop you home after. If you don’t drive, a day tour is your only option.

6. Fethiye and Oludeniz

Blue-Lagoon-oludeniz-Turkey

Fethiye is an immensely popular tourist resort city nestled along the golden sands of the Turquoise Coast. Arguably one of its main drawing points is Oludeniz, a small town just 15-minutes drive away, which is home to the iconic Blue Lagoon .

It’s got everything a coastal city needs – from huge, stunning Fethiye beaches and promenade, exquisite Turkish restaurants and cafes specializing in the most delicious, fresh seafood, to huge forested mountains like that of Mount Babadag, Fethiye is one excersion you simply have to make.

Not only is the water of the lagoon warm and crystal clear, but its sand is also sumptuously soft making it an ideal place to catch some rays.

If you’d like a more active day trip from Antalya to Fethiye, then worry not. Fethiye is the paragliding capital of Turkey and is one of the highest paragliding jump sites in the world. It’s also a great place to partake in water sports such as stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and peddle boating.

After a day at the beach, head down to the promenade in Oludeniz to enjoy one of the bars along the seafront, or head over to the ancient abandoned village of Kayakoy for a more cultural experience.

  • Distance from Antalya: 194.8 km (121 miles)
  • Travel time: 3 hours by car, 5.5 hours by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Since it’s a long drive, you’re only option would be to hire a car and set off very early.

daily tours antalya

Konya is a major city in south-central Turkey and is steeped in history after having been inhabited since the third millennium (3000) BC.

Within Turkey itself, it’s widely regarded as the country’s ‘spiritual’ capital and as a result, has been almost forgotten about by tourists from all over.

One of the main attractions in Konya is the fascinating tomb of the Persian Sufi mystic Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, or better known as Rumi. He’s often regarded as one of history’s best, and most influential poets. Rather confusingly for the tourist, Rumi’s tomb name is the Mevlana Museum .

Even if you aren’t familiar with Rumi or his work, the Tomb is simply a must-see when in the area. The interior is sure to take your breath away. Best of all – it’s free!

Konya is a small city and can be seen in a full day, however if you don’t want to get up early to drive to Konya we recommend staying one night and driving back the next day, and seeing Konya over two half days.

  • Distance from Antalya: 300 km (186 miles)
  • Travel time: 4 hours by car, 6 hours by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: it’s going to be a long trek, but you’ve got little choice but to hire a car and drive. You’d need to get up early, but it’s doable.

8. Pamukkale & Hierapolis

Pamukkale Travertine Terraces

Where to start with Pamukkale . Just like Cappadocia, Pamukkale is a mesmerizing UNESCO World Heritage Site and is probably one of the most photogenic places on the planet. This is exactly why you would be a fool not to visit whilst you’re in the country.

Pamukkale literally translates to ‘Cotton Castle’ in Turkish, and is a completely natural site known for the carbonate mineral which has been left by the flowing waters of the Cal Mountain. It’s also famous for its hot water thermal springs which you can actually swim in.

Once you’re done exploring the scenery of Pamukkale, you can head to the ancient Greek city of Hierapolis which is located at the top of the mineral deposits.

hierapolis

The ancient city of Hieropolis dates back to the early 2nd century BC and was built in its location to make use of the hot thermal springs from nearby Pamukkale.

Because of this, it was known as a ‘spa town’ and thousands flocked to Hieropolis to experience the natural wonders on its doorstep.

Unfortunately, like many ancient Greek cities in the area, it was destroyed by an earthquake that didn’t leave much standing. However, you can still see the well-preserved theater and its necropolis with tombs to give you an idea of the layout of this magnificent place. The North Gate is also largely preserved.

History buffs and travelers will also revel in the fact you can also see the tomb of Philip the Apostle too.

For a day trip from Antalya to remember, this is the one – if only you remember it for the long car ride! Don’t worry though, you can find a bunch of tour operators that will run this day trip and include hotel pick up and drop off.

  • Distance from Antalya: 240 km (149 miles)
  • Travel time: 3 hours by car, 3 hours 15 minutes by bus, N/A minutes by train
  • Best way to get there: The best way to get there is by hiring a car or taking a bus, since the bus is only 15 minutes longer. If you don’t want to look up bus times and plan your day, you can also take a guided tour to Pamukkale, which also stops by Hierapolis.

9. The Ancient City of Perge

daily tours antalya

Wonderfully easy to get to from Antalya city center is the stunning ancient city of Perge . Known for its magnificent amphitheater that housed a capacity of 15,000 people, the old Roman ruins date back well over 3000 years.

The Perge site is vast of ancient ruins, and with buildings like the city’s temple, crumbling school buildings, and its traditional Roman baths to marvel at, you’ll get an idea of what life was really like at Perge all those years ago.

Perhaps most interestingly, Alexander the Great was noted to have ridden horseback through Perge’s gates. Only a short 20-minute drive outside of Antalya, and accessible via the city’s tram network followed by an easy 30 minute walk, Perge is one place you cannot afford to miss.

In fact, it was probably our favorite place we visited on our trip to Antalya. Allow yourself a good 3 hours to explore it all, it’s surprisingly big.

We also recommend visiting late afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day. It can get quite hot at Perge because it lies within a valley.

  • Distance from Antalya: 16 km (10 miles)
  • Travel time: 20 minutes by car, 1 hour 10 minutes by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Perge is a really easy day trip to get to by hiring a car or taking a public bus. Buses go direct from Mevlana Cd-1 Antalya and depart every 20 minutes. It takes just over an hour, so it’s completely doable to do this by yourself. If you want a no fuss way to travel, you can find tours that take you to Perge, as well as to other sites nearby like Aspendos and the waterfalls. If you’re not hiring a car, this might be a good option since it’s not easy to get around these other places by public transport.

10. The Sunken City of Kekova

Sunken City of Kekova

If you’d like to get off the beaten track and see something that most have not, then simply take a boat trip from Antalya to the small Turkish island of Kekova from the coastal town of Demre.

Its waters and coast line are beautiful, however, what really steals the show is the partly sunken ruins of the ancient town of Kekova that once stood on the island.

Destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century, Kekova was rebuilt and remained a working dockyard until it was abandoned due to Arabic invasions.

The Turkish government have banned swimming around the ruins due to looting, however it still makes for excellent viewing with plenty of opportunities to get great pictures. You can take boat tours and kayak tours.

  • Distance from Antalya: 140 km (87 miles)
  • Best way to get there: The best way to get there is by hiring a car and driving, or you can take the bus since it goes direct from Kızılırmak Cd-5 to Demre. From Demre, the only way to see Kekova is by boat tour, which you can purchase on arrival in Demre. If you don’t want all the fuss, it’s also possible to book a tour from Antalya which picks you up and drops you off at your hotel.

Alanya castle

Alanya is another coastal city not to be missed, especially if you enjoy lazing on the beach and discovering ancient cities.

The biggest draw to Alanya is Kleopatra Beach, a 1km beach that’s named after the Queen of Egypt, who was said to have enjoyed swimming there.

The beach has soft sand and gentle waves, which make for the perfect place to relax and enjoy a day by the coast.

Another top site to check out in Alanya is Alanya Castle, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking Kleopatra Beach on one side, and the marina on the other. You can reach the castle by a short 5-minute cable car ride or you can hike or take a bus.

The castle is surrounded by a citadel filled with ancient sites and ruins, and flanked by an ancient city wall. It’s free to walk around the citadel but you have to pay to enter the castle area (which we personally don’t think is worth it – see why here ).

Alanya is a buzzing city but it feels quite relaxed compared to Antalya. Although possible to see on a day trip, you may decide you want to stay a few days!

  • Distance from Antalya: 133 km (149 miles)
  • Travel time: 2 hours by car, 3 hours by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Since the bus takes a long time and the bus station is a distance from the center of Antalya, it’s easier to hire a car and drive.

12. Tahtali Mountain

Mount Tahtali Turkey Natural Landmark

The Tahtali Mountain, also known as Tahtali Dagi or Lycian Olympus, is one of the largest peaks in Southern Turkey. Standing mightily tall at a whopping 7,762 ft, back in Ancient Greece the mountain was called Mount Olympus.

If you’re unfamiliar with Ancient Greece and its mythology, Olympus actually means ‘home of the gods’. As we’ve pointed out, there are many ancient cities lying in ruin across this area of the country and that’s no different with Tahtali. The 2700-year-old town of Phaselis lies in ruin at the base of the mountain which you can visit for yourself.

If climbing a mountain isn’t particularly your thing whilst on holiday, luckily, there is a funicular which takes you to the summit of the peak, giving you easy access to the sublime views of the region.

  • Distance from Antalya: 72 km (44 miles)
  • Travel time: 1 hour 20 minutes by car, 1 hour 20 minutes by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Unless you’re thinking of hiring a car to visit other day trips from Antalya, it’s probably easier to get a bus. If you don’t like figuring out bus routes, then you can always opt for a tour from Antalya. Though this does include the funicular to the peak. If you want to hike, you would find it easier to hire a car as you can park at the trailhead.

13. Kuzdere Passage Hike

daily tours antalya

The Kuzdere Passage is a gorgeous hiking trail that is part of the much larger group of trails called the Lycian Way. If you’re into hiking and love to get your blood pumping, then this should be at the top of your to-do list if you’re in the area.

Under 1 hour from Antalya, it leads you through jaw-dropping valleys, past a fast river, lush green woodland, and incredible views, there really isn’t any excuse not to head out and explore on foot.

Oh – and did we mention, natural springs are conveniently located along the way for you to take a break and cool off from the scorching Turkish sun. Bliss!

  • Distance from Antalya: 46 km (28 miles)
  • Travel time: 45 minutes by car, 1 hour 10 minutes by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: Since it’s not too far out of Antalya, you can get a public bus to Kemer from Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi-2 and then take a taxi to the trailhead.

14. Aspendos & Side Old Town

Ancient City of Aspendos

If you enjoyed the historical site of Perge, then you’ll enjoy visiting Aspendos and the nearby town of Side, which are two other ancient historical landmarks from the Greco-Roman period.

Aspendos is an ancient city, though little remains of it besides a very well-preserved amphitheatre. In fact, the theatre is still used for operas and performances today.

Nearby is the town of Side, which as well as its stunning beaches and picturesque landscapes, also has quaint cobbled streets and and ruins scattered around its old town.

Some notable landmarks are the Apollon Temple, Side Amphitheatre, and the remains of the Agora. The town is also lined with shops, bars, and restaurants built into the ruins, creating a unique ambiance.

  • Distance from Antalya: 48.2 km (121 miles) to Aspendos, 73.5 km to Side
  • Travel time: 45 minutes by car to Aspendos, 1 hour to Side
  • Best way to get there: Aspendos is not easy to visit using public transport since the buses run infrequently and there’s still a 50 minute walk from where the bus drops you off to the site. You should hire a car and drive yourself or book a day tour. We made the mistake of visiting Aspendos ourselves without taking a day trip from Antalya, and what a mistake that was! We took a bus from Side and then discovered there was no bus back and had to hitchhike in the dark. Don’t make the same mistake we did and book yourself a tour or get a hire car.

15. Adrasan-Suluada Island

daily tours antalya

If boat trips and a golden beach in Antalya are what get you up in the morning, then you should be all over this day trip to the Adrasan-Suluada Island. Just a short 40-minute sailing away, you’ll be given access to a small but wonderful island.

Often compared to the Maldives, Suluada’s calm turquoise waters are home to a natural reef and as a result, you can have the pleasure of getting up close to a vast array of marine wildlife.

With no electricity or running water on the tiny island, it’s really only for day trips, however, if you’d like to spend multiple days there, you can stay in the nearby town of Adrasan or Olympos.

  • Distance from Antalya: 90 km (55 miles)
  • Travel time: 1 hour 30 minutes by car to Adrasan, or 1 hour 50 minutes by bus, and then 45 minutes by boat
  • Best way to get there: Since its an island, the only way to get there is by boat. You will need to get to Adrasan first, where the boats depart from. You can either drive or take the bus from Antalya bus station. Buses depart every 3 hours so make sure to check the times before you go. If you’re worried about time, you can also book a tour in advance. These boat tours pick you up from your hotel and drive to Adrasan where a boat is waiting for you.

16. Goynuk Canyon

Goynuk Canyon

If you’re looking for an active day trip nearby Antalya, then Goynuk Canyon is one of the places you simply HAVE to visit. Famous across the region for its astounding beauty, a variety of activities can be done at the park utilizing the rugged terrain it sits upon.

At the heart of the canyon is a fast-flowing wild river that’s used for white-water rafting, and a little further in you can find a gorgeous waterfall and the opportunity to go on a safari tour that makes the most of the nature and beauty of the park.

You’ll need to carry some change as there is a small entrance fee to gain access to the Canyon.

  • Distance from Antalya: 36 km (22 miles)
  • Travel time: 45 minutes by car, 50 minutes by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: It’s very easy to get to by public bus. Buses leave from Kızılırmak Cd-5 every 8 minutes and take you directly to the canyon.

Antalya day trip

Kemer is an idyllic town on the coast of the Turkish Riviera that’s free and easily accessible from Antalya. Widely known for its huge stretch of pebble beach together with its large marina, Kemer is a beautiful spot if you’d like to get off the beaten track and do some sightseeing.

Behind the town, nearby, is the sumptuously green pine forests of the Beydaglari National Park, where you can go for hikes and explore the hills of southern Turkey. This is also the location of the beginning of the cable car to the summit of Tahtali Mountain (Olympos) which we touched on earlier.

Kemer’s market is also a fantastic place to source local produce, running every day from early morning to early evening.

  • Distance from Antalya: 44 km (27 miles)
  • Travel time: 45 minutes by car, 45 minutes by bus, not available by train
  • Best way to get there: There is a public bus that leaves from İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü and takes you directly to Kemer. It runs every 20 minutes and takes 45 minutes. Of course, if you’re interested in learning about the history and culture of Kemer, you can book Antalya day tours to Kemer too.

4 thoughts on “17 Exciting Day Trips From Antalya, Turkey!”

What the hell you cannot do Ephesus or Cappadocia or anything else involving flights on a day trip.. stupid suggestions.

Hey Karmen,

Thank you for your input. These places are quite far from Antalya, so you would have to get an early flight (the earliest one is usually around 7 to 9 AM) and then take the latest flight back. It is possible, but it might not be worth it since you won’t be able to spend a very long time in these places, especially in Cappadocia where you need several days.

Hi, I appreciate your effort to provide the valuable and very useful information, but many of these are not day trips.

Might I suggest, anything over 2hrs each way (at most) is an overnighter, and even that’s a stretch for most people spending 4 hours in transport.

Hi Sam, thank you for your comment. Yes, some of these are quite a long day trip from Antalya, however they are all doable in a day. It’s quite common to see day tours to Pamukkale, Ephesus and Cappadocia from Antalya for example. While there is a lot of travel involved, it’s great for people who are short on time and don’t have a long time to spend in Turkey. You are right that anywhere over 2 hours drive is best seen as an overnight stay and that’s how we would prefer to see some of these places, but if you are short on time, it’s totally possible to visit these destinations as a day trip.

12 Fascinating Day Trips From Antalya City (With My Travel Tips)

Looking for the best day trips from Antalya, Turkey ? Don’t pass by, check my guide as I feature the most popular organized Antalya day tours and not so popular but incredibly interesting independent Antalya day trips. From ancient cities and azure beaches to hiking, canyoning, and exploring wild islands, it’s all here below!

Surprisingly, Antalya became one of my favorite provinces for beach vacations and nature . It comes second after Bodrum in terms of a number of activities and variety of things to do. During our few months stay, we explored a ton of places there and have many more left on our list to discover on our future visits. So I want to share my favorite Antalya excursions that you can go on your own or with a guide.

When I was thinking about what to put on my list, I decided to choose only those day trips that do not take more than 3 hours of travel one way. Anything longer than that is not a day trip, it should be already a staycation and a separate visit. Especially in a country like Turkey where every kilometer of land has something interesting to a traveler.

In fact, getting to all the places in the Antalya region that I mention below takes between 30 minutes and one and a half hours of travel. Going on these trips will show a very good picture of Antalya and the Turquoise Coast. Enjoy!

How to Go For Day Trips From Antalya

best day trips from Antalya

There are different ways how to go on day trips from Antalya. You can join an organized day tour, use public transport, private transfer, or hire a car. We personally like to rent a car as often as possible and go places and on occasion join tours as they may offer the best presentation of the site or destination.

Using public transport is also a good option since it’s also cheaper. Although you need to remember that using public buses (no trains in the Antalya region) is going to take much more time. So often you’ll be able to spend a day only on one trip when going by car or on a tour, there is a chance to see nearby places and combine 2 or even 3 day trips in one.

Private or small group tours are an affordable and efficient way to travel around the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Having a local guide will enrich your experience, especially if your day trip is focused on culture or history.

In Antalya (as pretty much anywhere in Turkey) we personally use GetYourGuide to find and book day tours. It is a reliable platform and all tours in Antalya you find through them are absolutely legit. Viator is also popular in Turkey, and in Antalya by the way, they offer a broader range of itineraries .

But still, our favorite way to go on day trips in Turkey is by car. I recommend this option to everyone who holds a driver’s license and has driving experience. Roads in Antalya are great and driving is enjoyable.

If you decide you want to hire a car in Antalya, I recommend the Local Rent website to find an affordable rental from a local company. Many come with insurance included and don’t require any deposit. For more details, read up my tips for renting a car and driving in Antalya .

Popular Short Day Trips From Antalya (Under 1 Hour Travel)

Antalya day trip to goynuk canyon – adventure escape.

daily tours antalya

Goynuk Canyon is one of the most popular day trips from Antalya. It is also one of the most beautiful natural wonders to visit with clean refreshing water and plenty of oxygen. On a hot summer day, it is a must-see destination for all nature and outdoor enthusiasts, regardless of fitness level.

The canyon on its own is a narrow gorge no more than 6 meters wide and up to 350 meters high. It has a length of 14 kilometers, ending in the spurs of Bedaglar. At the bottom of the canyon flows the river of the same name which is slow and safe. In summer it becomes shallow and turns into a large stream and a chain of small lakes that get separated by rapids up to 3 m high, made of boulders and large stones.

In most places, the creek is knee-deep or waist-deep, but there are a few sections that you have to traverse up to your neck in water or swim in a boat. For these reasons, you can’t do it without a wetsuit and inflatable vest. At the park, the staff member will provide guidance on how to start this canyoning body rafting and give mandatory equipment for that.

Besides this activity you can also go ziplining , trekking in the canyon on a Lycian trail, and joining a quad safari .

On the way to the canyon, there are a few lovely cafes with Turkish food and chai.

When traveling on your own, you can purchase tickets at the park. But be ready to wait to get in if visiting in the high summer season. There is an option, by the way, to purchase tickets only to enter the park without any rafting to walk around, pop into a cafe, or join other paid activities.

If you prefer to go on a tour, there is an option to choose a combo canyoning and ziplining tour or solely body rafting tour .

  • Distance from Antalya: 35 km (22 miles)
  • Travel time: 35-45 minutes one-way
  • How to get there: by car or private transfer
  • Best time to visit:  late May through early September
  • How much time to spend: the whole day if you want! The canyoning is not limited in time but you won’t be able to stay in the water for too long because it’s too cold.

Day Trip to Kemer – Hiking, Sea & Turkish Food

Kemer Central Beach

While Kemer is considered a resort town perfect for tourists who stay in one of its all-inclusive hotels, there are still a few lovely things to do there for those who don’t stay in Kemer but come to visit on a day trip from Antalya.

I personally love this little town with coniferous trees, clean air, and pebbly beaches. It provides a perfect opportunity to combine in one day time by the beach, hiking through coniferous forest, and then sitting by the river and old aqueduct while eating freshly caught fish.

So I recommend you do the same to see what a multifaceted town Kemer is!

Depending on the time of the day when you arrive, I suggest you go to Central Beach which is more like a landscaped area with numerous amenities for tourists (umbrellas, sun loungers, cafes with terraces, and bathrooms). But keep in mind that the line is divided into zones that are the property of Kemeri hotels. Everyone who is not staying in a hotel here has to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas.

Central beach has large pebbles that make the water crystal clear. If you’d prefer to swim on a sandy beach (with as beautiful water!), then better head to Qualista Beach where there is also a cool beach club.

If visiting Kemer in late spring or early fall (even in summer but in the evening), go on a hike through the forest inside the town to see Kemer from a bird’s eye view . There are a few trails that bring you to the top of the mountain . Check maps.me to understand which one will work best for you.

day trip from Antalya to Kemer

And at the end of the day, if you come by car, follow a twisty road towards Ovacik and make a stop at this restaurant above the canyon . It is my secret place where Mark and I loved going to unwind and have delish fried fish or gozleme. Here it is:

restaurant in the canyon

  • Distance from Antalya: 44 km (27 miles)
  • Travel time: 40-50 minutes one-way
  • How to get there: by car or public bus
  • Best times to visit: April, May, June, September and October
  • How much time to spend:  from a few hours to a few days

Antalya to Phaselis – Roman Era Ancient Site & Beach

On a very beautiful small peninsula south of Kemer, there is the ancient city of Phaselis covered with cedars and pines. It is another interesting spot for a day trip from Antalya which you can visit on your own or as part of a group tour combined with a full-day boat trip with lunch.

Phaselis is a unique settlement where the sea and history coexist with its ruins, historical antique theater, aqueduct, agora, and baths.

The port city of ancient times, Phaselis, was founded in 690 BC due to its unique location and proximity to rich forest areas, with three different bays suitable for creating a port. It is located among pine and cedar forests in the Olympos-Beydaglari National Park.

best day trip from Antalya

Before entering the ancient city, you’ll need to walk or drive along an asphalt road for about 2 km and reach the place where the sea and the ancient ruins meet. The northern harbor, which you will see after the remains of the Temple and the Necropolis (cemetery) is between the Necropolis and the road to the Ancient Aqueduct.

The best part about this place for many people is a beautiful sandy 100 meter beach among the trees. It can be accessed by paying a small entrance fee. Phaselis beach is a favorite place for families with children because of the calm sea and warm sea water. It is also one of the bays from where boats depart to Kaleici Marina (Old part of Antalya) and yachts to Kemer, Tekirova, and Camyuva.

  • Distance from Antalya: 56 km (35 miles)
  • Travel time: 50-60 minutes one-way
  • How to get there: by car, private transfer, or by bus and then walk to the entrance
  • Best time to visit:  from late May to October
  • How much time to spend:  from a few hours to a full day

Day Trip From Antalya to Perge & Kursunlu Waterfall – History & Nature

Antalya day trip to Perge

Only in Antalya there is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the ancient history of Turkey without giving up entertainment and beach holidays. After all, the entire Antalya province is full of various sites with the ruins of many ancient cities.

One of these cities is ancient Perge which attracts more and more tourists every year. It is one of the most interesting attractions for lovers of picturesque ruins and history. Excursions that include a visit to Perge are available from the center of Antalya, from Kemer, Belek, Alanya and Side. But it’s also very easy to visit on an individual trip when renting a car or using public transportation.

Perge is located 18 km from Antalya, not far from the modern town of Aksu. It starts with the city gates – the inner gate from the Hellenistic period and the outer gate from the Roman period. The most photographed element is the Hellenistic Gate, which was erected in the 3rd century BC. Through it, you can go to the colonnaded street with the baths and ruins of the Agora (market square).

Kursunlu waterfall

If you haven’t seen any ancient cities in Turkey yet, visiting Perge will be a great introduction as it was one of the richest and most beautiful cities of the old world during the Hellenistic period. It was famous for its architecture and sculpture. And in 2009 the city was included in the UNESCO World Temporary Heritage List.

After the visit to Perge, if you are not tired, make a trip to the nearby ancient city of Aspendos . It has the best preserved ancient theater and is almost nearby – only 35 km away.

Another place to visit in the area is Antalya Archaeological Museum which is the largest on the entire Turkish coast. All the statues, relics, and sarcophagi found in Perge are now in the Antalya Museum.

And one more place to add to this day trip is the picturesque Kursunlu waterfall . Hiding behind lush greenery, it provides a wonderful opportunity to cool off and take fantastic photos. This waterfall is located in the middle of a pine forest, where you can enjoy camel riding or a family picnic.

  • Travel time: 20-30 minutes one-way
  • How to get there: by car or city bus, or join this organized tour that covers it all
  • Best time to visit:  March to May, September to November
  • How much time to spend: expect to devote at least 3 hours to Perge

From Antalya to Tahtali Mountains – Scenic Views & Traditional Turkish Villages

Driving through Tahtali mountains in Antalya

This would be not really a day trip but more of a road trip from Antalya through Tahtali mountains. And I think it’s a great trip for those travelers who have more time in Antalya or who have a desire to see Turkish village life in the mountains rather than by the sea.

Tahtali Mountains are mainly famous for the ski resort Saklikent. It is particularly popular in Antalya during the winter season in Turkey . However, it is no less beautiful in the summer too. And there is much more hidden behind the mountains than just the area for skiing.

Saklikent on its own stands out with peace and quiet. Tourists have a great opportunity to be alone with untouched nature, enjoy panoramic views, go hiking, and listen to the sound of majestic mountains.

If you are visiting during the snow season which lasts from January until the end of April, expect to find all the needed infrastructure and lots of snow activities. On the top, there is a panoramic cafe serving snacks and hot drinks.

In summer, Saklikent is much quieter and offers hiking in the mountains, BBQing, and participation in the famous Shenlik festival. In July and August when Antalya gets very hot, locals escape the heat and run to Saklikent because the temperature there is up to 15 degrees lower.

Saklikent

We love going to Saklikent just to unwind, drive on the scenic mountain road to enjoy the views, and go on short hikes. But before we get there, we also love stopping in a bunch of other places to eat traditional (for this region) food, spend time in villages, and walk in nature.

Among my favorite places on the way to Saklikent are Doyran Nature Preserve , Cakirlar village , and Geyikbayiri . The last one is a village with a green area around it excellent for camping, rock climbing, and mountaineering. It has lots of walking paths and recreation areas running through cedar and red pine forests.

Doyran Nature Reserve near Antalya

Only in Geyikbayiri alone it is possible to spend the entire day walking around, taking wonderful photos of wooden plateau houses, and tasting delicious nomadic dishes in one of their many restaurants. Our top restaurant is Yayla Gozleme , they have wonderful food and views, views, views! On a bright sunny day, from their terrace you can see all of Antalya in the distance and the sea.

  • Distance from Antalya: 25-50 km (15-31 miles) depending on where in Tahtali you decide to go
  • Travel time: 1-1.5 hours one-way
  • How to get there: by car
  • Best time to visit:  any time during the year is amazing, but expect to have different activities
  • How much time to spend: from a few hours to the entire day

More One Day Tours From Antalya

Longer Day Trips From Antalya (1-3 Hours of Travel)

To side – ancient city by the sea.

Side, just like Kemer, is a seaside town great for beach vacations. But it is also a great pick for a day trip or on the way from Antalya to Alanya or Cappadocia region . The main reasons to visit are the ancient city, which is now popular with tourists, cute numerous souvenir shops and cafes, and its beach.

Side is small and feels like time there has stopped. If you walk along the ancient streets, you will see a magnificent view of the majestic columns of the ancient temple of Apollo and smooth blue expanse of sea waves. Further, the path lies along a busy embankment, snow-white yachts that stand in the harbor and seem to invite you for a walk with a light breeze.

Side day trip

Among all the ancient sites, it is also worth noting Side Museum, dedicated to the civilizations that once flourished on the territory of the city. Its exhibits are fragments of statues, sarcophagi, ancient coins, and amphoras. The oldest item dates back to the 8th century BC. For the most part, all exhibits tell about the Greco-Roman period, but you can also find artifacts related to the Byzantine and Ottoman eras.

Holidays in Side have become popular not only because of the unique sights but also because of the numerous beaches. The coast is divided into western and eastern. Distinctive features of local beaches are sandy coverage and shallow water which allows families with children to relax comfortably. The water in the sea warms up by mid-May and its temperature remains at high levels until the end of October.

In July and August Side is hot, so it will be difficult to join excursions or do a self-guided tour.

If you have a car, combine a day trip to Side with a quick visit to nearby Manavgat Waterfalls and Oymapinar Reservoir . Another option is to join an organized tour and go to a traditional village Ormana and the nearby Altinbesik underground cave. You can also visit Ormana and Altinbesik cave on your own, but for the village, it’d be more interesting to be on a tour to hear stories about it.

  • Distance from Antalya: 75 km (46 miles)
  • Travel time: 70-80 minutes one-way to Side
  • How to get there: by car, private transfer, by bus, or on a tour
  • Best time to visit:  from April-June, September-November
  • How much time to spend:  half a day or a full day if staying at the beach/hotel

Trip From Antalya to Adrasan – Eco Village & Red Sand Beach

day tour to Adrasan

Adrasan village is a hidden paradise on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey that should be on your travel bucket list if you like visiting traditional villages and appreciate tranquility. It is the right choice for all holidaymakers who desire to spend a holiday in a natural environment and see a different side of Antalya.

I’ve been to this village a couple of times and couldn’t get enough. I visited it on a day tour and stopped here on a road trip between Antalya and Fethiye . And all my visits were always incredible due to Adrasan’s natural beauty and deep blue sea, due to its people who make you feel at home right away, and due to the number of activities.

You see, Adrasan is located near the world-famous Lycian path and has a 2 km long beach surrounded by groves with pine trees.

So on the one hand, you can go hiking (even on short hikes) because the views that open up from hiking trails in this area are simply magnificent. On the other hand, you can come to spend all day long by the beach, surfing , kayaking , diving , trying local food in many cute cafes , and joining tours to nearby islands. Kayaks and diving equipment are available for rent on the beach.

Adrasan village Antalya

The entire area of Adrasan village is protected and its beach is among the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean region. Unlike other beach areas in Antalya and surrounding cities, Adrasan attracts with its shallower and more closed structure. Since it is situated in the bay, the sea near the shore is always very calm. There are no currents and waves, the water is transparent and clean.

So the shallow water on the beach strip will allow you to fully enjoy your holiday, even if you do not know how to swim. It also allows families with children to have a more comfortable holiday.

In addition to the beach and sea, there is also a river flowing through Adrasan with many restaurants along it. Stop by to have lunch or early dinner, feed the ducks or cats, and take dozens of insta photos.

And if you find that what the village offers is not enough, just go on a boat tour to one of the nearby coves or bays. The number one island to visit in the Adrasan Bay area is Suluada island . Being one hour away from Adrasan it is as pure and beautiful as the Maldives. Tours to this and other islands can be purchased at the beach.

Suluada island

Adrasan also has many quirky boutique hotels and guesthouses at a good price, so there is always an opportunity to turn a day trip into a long staycation. Because there is really a lot to do!

Day Trip to Cirali & Olympos – Ancient Lycia, Sea Turtles, Hippie Atmosphere & Fire Mountain

Cirali and Olympos are located in the same direction as Adrasan village is but closer to Antalya. So it is very easy to combine visits to all these places in one trip (just plan it for at least 2 full days) or break it into 2 separate day trips.

If I had to describe these two cities in a few words, I’d pick ‘calmness, silence, green, and peace’. Although two of them are completely different from each other in terms of beauty and comfort.

Cirali village

Cirali is a town where you can relax in one of the magnificent boutique hotels or exquisite bungalows (even if you come for a day only), and on a clean and calm beach. All hotels here have beautiful facilities with exquisite gardens. The beach is well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas.

Located on the border of Olympos Beydagları Coastal National Park, Cırali is perhaps one of the best examples of Turkish small towns where people live in harmony with nature. The area on both sides of Cıralı Beach is part of the national park which is a very special place with its natural and historical values because it is a breeding area for Caretta turtles.

Olympos faces the same beach as Cirali but its main settlement is a 30-minute walk away. Olympos has a very different feel and character and is mainly famous for its hippie atmosphere and Lycian ruins (you need to pay to get in). Of course, because it used to be an important city of the ancient Lycian Civilization and a very important place in maritime trade.

Both these towns have centers consisting of several streets with cafes, markets, and shops selling souvenirs and materials you need at sea. Both of them are under strict protection and offer to spend excellent time. Oh, and in the Olympos valley (which is closer to Cirali) is a Chimaera mountain site. It is famous for dozens of small flames which burn constantly from under the rocky slopes and are a must-see attraction.

From Antalya to Demre & Ancient City Myra – For Rock Carved Thombs & Underwater City

Among all day tours from Antalya on my list, Demre is the farthest. It takes around 3 hours to reach it one way, so travel here can be exhausting to accomplish within one day. But it is well worth the time. Although in my experience, it’d be much more efficient to combine this journey with another one on the same route.

Demre is simply a fantastic place for a peaceful holiday on the Mediterranean coast away from the crowds. In addition to its crystal clear sea, stylish boutique hotels and fish restaurants, it is famous for historical artifacts dating back to the 5th century. Such as for example St. Nicholas Church (Santa Clause Church) which is the symbol of Demre and a pilgrimage site. And then the Ancient City of Myra where St. Nicholas was the bishop.

ancient city of Myra

In Demre, you can enjoy swimming and diving in the ancient ruins near the coast by Kekova Island, Ucağız village and Simena (Kaleköy). They are among the places to visit by boat trips as they are adjacent to other hidden paradises of Antalya.

Despite being a popular sightseeing area, Demre has managed to preserve its historical and natural charm. It’s always interesting to explore its area on a tour, in the end of the day go to one of the famous restaurants that serve fresh seafood between a fishing village and colorful fishing boats on the beach, and watch Demre’s famous sunset views.

  • Travel time: 2.5-3 hours one-way
  • How to get there: by car, public bus, and/or organized tour
  • Best time to visit:  April-June, September-October
  • How much time to spend: one day

From Antalya to Koprulu Cayon National Park – For Dramatic Views, Hiking & Rafting

Koprulu (or as it has to be in Turkish Köprülü) Canyon National Park is a hidden paradise located within the borders of the Antalya province. Its name is not known to the majority yet because the canyon was discovered just a few years ago.

Those who come here know it mainly for rafting. But after driving into the National park it is difficult not to notice the magnificent beauty of the canyon and get a desire to spend all day long exploring its trails. So yes, rafting is not the only reason to visit.

The picturesque nature that exists here, caves , canyons , the magic of flowing water, and history of the ancient city of Selge for hundreds of years are what captivates and can keep you busy for many days.

Koprulu canyon day trip from Antalya

Entrance to the park is free and the best way to visit is by vehicle.

If you are going to come with your own vehicle, let me mention that roads through the park are smooth. You can travel comfortably even in a small car. At least, on the road up to the famous bridge of the canyon (Oluk Köprü), it is comfortable and hassle-free. After the bridge, the road narrows.

When visiting on your own, spend some time hiking, see the historical Oluk Bridge on the river and the ancient city of Selge , contemplate the beauty of river, join jeep safari tours, cycle, go canoeing, rafting, or even swimming.

If you prefer to go on this day trip from Antalya with a tour, there are rafting and canyoning adventure tours available. Other activities mentioned above can be found on spot in the park.

  • Distance from Antalya: 90 km (56 miles)
  • Travel time: 1.5 hours one-way
  • How to get there: by car or on a tour
  • How much time to spend:  one full day and camp and stay longer

Quick Day Trip From Antalya to Alanya – City Escape

Being 2 hours drive from Antalya and having a lot to offer, Alanya is not really a destination for a day trip. I’d say it is a place to visit for at least 2 full days.

However, those who are short on time and who want to get a quick idea of another beautiful Turkish city on the Mediterranean coast will enjoy traveling here. Just make sure to leave early and have the entire day ahead of you.

day trip to Alanya

Alanya is one of the hottest resort cities in Turkey where the holiday season lasts from May to October and vacation prices are often lower than in other parts of the country. It will appeal to those who like not only beach vacation but also walking a lot and seeing beautiful sights on their own.

Alanya is similar to Antalya in some ways, yet it has its own charm and pace. There are lots of picturesque spots and beautiful nature in the city and around it.

Among must-visit places in Alanya on a day trip are Alanya Fortress , Kizikule octagonal tower that houses a museum with artifacts, Beach of Kleopatra , Kedi Evi park of cats , Alanya Marina and embankment by the water . And of course another thing to do is to join a boat tour and see the city from the water.

But my favorite sights are located not in Alanya but around it. Just some of them are Sapadere Canyon and area along the Dim Cayi river. They are famous not only for their beauty but a number of activities. If short on time, consider joining a tour which includes a city excursion, boat trip, cable car to the castle, and trip to Dim Cayi river.

If time allows, I’d highly recommend devoting more time to Alanya than one day since the city is much worth the trip!

  • Distance from Antalya: 135 km (84 miles)
  • Travel time: 2 hours one-way
  • Best time to visit:  March through June, September through December
  • How much time to spend:  one full day and more

Bonus: Is It Worth Going On a Day Trip From Antalya to Pamukkale?

Pamukkale

I know it is quite popular among travelers to go on a full-day Pamukkale tour from Antalya . But is it really worth it? The tour is really exciting and packed with activities but it won’ be for everyone. Keep in mind that:

The road takes more than 3 hours one way and for many people it may be exhausting. Some tour companies make stops on the way to Pamukkale so the journey doesn’t seem long. Thus you may want to go with them.

However, most of the time tour buses usually arrive at the same time between 11 am-12 pm which means that the landmark is usually very crowded since everyone else is offering a tour of Pamukkale at the same time.

If visiting in the hot summer season, arriving in the afternoon for many people may be also physically difficult since the heat is really unbearable. And then the tour bus leaves before sunset to return on time.

While the tour from Pamukkale to Antalya allows covering more distance in one day, you do not really experience more. Besides Pamukkale, the area is rich with other activities and unique travertines and springs . I’d also recommend you visit Kaklik cave which is a smaller version of Pamukkale underground.

For the quality trip, it’d be better to stay overnight in Pamukkale and then devote most of your next day to the site rather than to being on the bus. With the big number of travel companies in town, it is easy to find a local guide on spot.

Another good option is to plan a trip in that way when you go from Antalya to the next destination like Kusadasi, Fethiye, Marmaris or even Bodrum and see other popular Turkish cities and towns as well.

Or, as we did it, go on a road trip to Pamukkale from Antalya and see other places along the way at your own pace. In this way, you’ll be able to experience much more!

2024 U.S. Open PGA DFS: Best FanDuel, DraftKings daily Fantasy golf picks, lineups, strategy, advice

Expert with over $2m in winnings gives pga dfs advice and 2024 u.s. open dfs strategy for draftkings and fanduel.

justin-thomas-usatsi.jpg

Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth have been popular PGA DFS picks for years, but daily Fantasy golf players will have to decide if they can be trusted when they set their PGA DFS strategy for the 2024 U.S. Open, which tees off from Pinehurst No. 2 on Thursday. McIlroy, among the highest-priced players on both DraftKings and FanDuel, has won 26 PGA Tour events in his career, including four major championships. However, he enters this week's event ranked 66th in greens in regulation percentage (66.08%). Spieth, whose 2024 U.S. Open DFS pricing is $7,900 on DraftKings and $9,800 on FanDuel, won the U.S. Open in 2015 but has struggled mightily in 2024, finishing T-37 or worse in six of his last seven starts on tour.

Should your 2024 U.S. Open DFS strategy include rostering McIlroy or Spieth, or is it time to fade them in favor of players with a significantly lower price tag? Before you lock in your PGA DFS picks for the 2024 U.S. Open on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, you'll want to see the latest daily Fantasy golf picks, advice and player pool from SportsLine's Mike McClure .

McClure is a DFS pro with over $2 million in career winnings, and he's been red-hot on his PGA Tour picks this season. McClure is also a predictive data engineer at SportsLine who uses a powerful prediction model that simulates every tournament 10,000 times, taking factors like statistical trends, past results, and current form into account. This allows him to find the best PGA DFS values and create optimal lineups that he shares only over at SportsLine. They're a must-see for any PGA DFS player.

Last week at the Memorial Tournament, McClure identified Collin Morikawa as one of his top PGA DFS picks. The result: Morikawa secured a runner-up finish after shooting 7-under par. Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable weekend.

In addition, McClure's model is up nearly $9,000 on its best bets since June 2020, nailing tournament after tournament. This same model has also nailed a whopping 12 majors entering the weekend, including three straight Masters and 2024 PGA Championship. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2024 U.S. Open and revealed his optimal PGA DFS advice, strategy, and player pool. Head to SportsLine now to see his top golf DFS picks for the U.S. Open 2024 .

Top 2024 U.S. Open PGA DFS picks

One of McClure's top PGA DFS picks for the 2024 U.S. Open is Bryson DeChambeau at $10,100 on DraftKings and $11,800 on FanDuel. DeChambeau has won eight times on the PGA Tour and his game is trending in the right direction heading into the 2024 U.S. Open.

DeChambeau won the U.S. Open in 2020 and is coming off a runner-up showing at the PGA Championship at Valhalla. He shot 20-under par in that tournament and also secured a T-6 finish at the Masters in April. He's now recorded four top-10 finishes over his last seven starts at a major championship. In addition, DeChambeau is one of just three active golfers to win the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur Open, so confidently lock him in your PGA DFS lineups.

McClure's optimal PGA DFS strategy also includes rostering Justin Thomas at $8,900 on DraftKings and $10,100 on FanDuel. In order to score well at Pinehurst No. 2, players will need to be accurate with their irons. Thomas enters the U.S. Open 2024 ranked seventh in strokes gained: approach to green (0.697).

He's also been effective off the tee, ranking 22nd in driving distance (308.1) and 38th in total driving (132). His ability to put himself in advantageous positions has the 31-year-old ranked seventh in birdie average (4.43) and 17th in scoring average (69.57), which will make him a valuable PGA DFS asset this week.  See who else to back right here .

How to set 2024 U.S. Open DFS lineups

McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who's primed to play well, giving you a huge return on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. Picks like these could be the difference between winning your PGA DFS contests or going home with nothing. You can only see who it is here .

So what are the top PGA DFS picks for the U.S. Open 2024, and which undervalued golfer is a must-roster? Visit SportsLine now to see the complete 2024 U.S. Open DFS player pool for FanDuel and DraftKings, all from the expert who's made over $2 million in daily Fantasy sports , and find out.

Trump Surrogate Nancy Mace Thwarts McCarthy ‘Revenge Tour’

Portrait of Ed Kilgore

One of the beloved Beltway narratives of the past few months has been that ousted House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is engaged in a “revenge tour” aimed at utilizing primary challenges to punish the “crazy eight” House Republicans who voted to eject him last October. Stop one on the supposed tour was the coastal South Carolina district of Nancy Mace , an attention-grabbing and sometimes erratic congresswoman who survived a Donald Trump–backed purge effort two years ago over her criticism of his behavior on January 6. She then helped deep-six McCarthy. His efforts to return the favor didn’t work out.

After athletic efforts to curry favor with the 45th president, Mace had the MAGA imprimatur this time around, while the vengeful McCarthy lined up support for challenger Catherine Templeton , best known as the union-hating Nikki Haley ’s union-bashing state labor department director. Templeton also lost a 2018 gubernatorial primary to Haley’s successor (and Trump friend), Henry McMaster, but did manage to let it be known she supported Trump against Haley prior to this year’s South Carolina presidential primary. Her baggage didn’t deter McCarthy, though, as NBC News reported :

McCarthy boosted Templeton’s campaign, spending $10,000 through his political action committee, Majority Committee PAC. Another PAC with ties to McCarthy, the American Prosperity Alliance,  contributed  $15,000 to South Carolina Patriots PAC, an organization that has spent over $2.1 million to defeat Mace and over $400,000 to support Templeton.

Despite the money and Templeton’s rep as a doctrinaire conservative, Mace dispatched her by nearly a two-to-one margin . More important, she did well enough to avoid a runoff despite a third candidate in the race. McCarthy will have other opportunities for revenge (notably next week in Virginia, where he is on the same side as Trump in trying to purge House Freedom Caucus chair Bob Good ), but his “tour” is not off to a good start.

The Mace-Templeton result highlighted a banner night of primary wins for Trump-backed candidates. In other South Carolina races, Trump’s support almost certainly clinched a close win for scandal-plagued U.S. House incumbent William Timmons , and longtime MAGA stalwart and Black televangelist Mark Burns finished first and is in a GOP runoff for an open seat. In North Dakota, congressman Kelly Armstrong, Trump’s endorsee to succeed VP prospect Doug Burgum as governor, routed Burgum’s own candidate and lieutenant governor, Tammy Miller. In Nevada, a late Trump endorsement helped party Establishment favorite Sam Brown easily win a Senate primary; he will face Democratic incumbent Jacky Rosen in November in one of the contests that will determine control of the chamber. There’s one uncalled House race in Nevada, where a Trump-backed candidate is holding on to a narrow lead, and if he wins, the former president will have a clean sweep in the June 11 primaries, as befits his position as the dominant force in the Republican Party. A former House Speaker like Kevin McCarthy really can’t compete.

Now Playing: The Press Tour (Shh, It’s Better Than the Movie)

For Jennifer Lopez, Sterling K. Brown, Dakota Johnson and others, the standard publicity push isn’t so standard anymore.

  • Share full article

Simu Liu, in a cream-colored suit, Jennifer Lopez, in a strapless white top and black shirt, and Sterling K. Brown, in a pale gray suit, stand next to each other against a backdrop with the words “Netflix” and “Atlas.”

By Esther Zuckerman

In the 1999 rom-com “Notting Hill,” the sheepish bookseller played by Hugh Grant goes to a hotel expecting a date with the megawatt star played by Julia Roberts. He is surprised to find he has arrived at a press junket and looks adorably flustered as he’s shuffled from room to room, pretending to be a reporter from Horse & Hound to interview the stars of her space movie.

The sequence is a handy introduction to this strange custom of film publicity: actors sitting in sterile suites for a parade of brief interviews. But these days that almost seems quaint. The press tour has taken on a life of its own, with stars like Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya making news for the tour itself with quippy sound bites, inscrutable looks and fashion moments.

It can be grueling for celebrities. Lupita Nyong’o recently described junkets as a “torture technique” in an interview with Glamour . But these cycles can be more entertaining than the movies themselves. Grant’s bookseller would be baffled to learn that you can categorize the tours as follows:

The Animosity Tour

The promotion stops for nothing, not even cast members who appear to hate being in one another’s company. This seemed to be the case during the cycle for “Atlas,” Netflix’s new sci-fi flick starring Jennifer Lopez and Sterling K. Brown.

During joint interviews, Brown seemed unable to help himself from making fun of Lopez. In one viral moment, he feigned surprise when she said she was Puerto Rican, before repeating her comfort meal of “ rice and beans and like, you know, chicken” in overemphasized Spanish.

In another moment, he jumped in and helped her out when her own Spanish failed her. After supplying the right word, he did a little dance. That clip prompted social-media users to wonder what J. Lo did to Brown . During these interactions Lopez looked perturbed, leaving plenty of room for observers to jump to conclusions.

But their joint appearances cannot hold a candle to the grandmother of animosity tours, the great “Don’t Worry Darling” debacle of 2022. Olivia Wilde directed the retro drama, which featured Florence Pugh, and what went unsaid was almost more tantalizing than what was: After rumors of bad blood between the star and the director, Pugh didn’t show up for the Venice Film Festival news conference but was spotted strolling around Venice in a purple get-up while Wilde fielded tough questions .

The Flirty Tour

Some actors consider publicity an annoying obligation; Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney embrace it. One way to sell a movie? Sex. Or at least the illusion thereof. So the two leaned into dating rumors when promoting their recent rom-com, “Anyone but You,” with some hard-core flirting.

“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry,” he told The New York Times . “That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”

The flirting method works especially well when the film or show has a romantic element. Fans of the Netflix series “Bridgerton” have been going wild for the chemistry between Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton as they promote the newest season . Coughlan has called Newton a “lovely friend,” but the speculation can’t hurt viewership.

Then again, actors can play mortal enemies and still put out exquisitely flirtatious vibes. Case in point: Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy on HBO’s “House of the Dragon.” During one of their interactions, D’Arcy described their favorite drink as a “negroni, sbagliato, with prosecco in it” and Cooke responded, “Oo, stunnin’” — a moment that went so viral in 2022 that now fans are eager for whatever publicity pushes the new season may bring.

The Fashion Tour

One group making the most out of lengthy press tours: stylists. Over the past year in particular, creative partnerships between stars and their fashion teams have yielded red carpet looks that are not only beautiful, but also on theme, sometimes even aggressively so.

Margot Robbie was especially committed to recreating the “Barbie” aesthetic offscreen. At every stop, she emerged in a designer look that made references to a classic Barbie outfit. She trotted out an Hervé Léger dress resembling the original doll’s striped bathing suit and a Versace ensemble that echoed the kitschy 1985 Day to Night Barbie . The looks were such a hit that Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal put out a Rizzoli book documenting them .

Still, perhaps no one does the fashion tour better than Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach. This year, they’ve already given us two very different approaches in quick succession for “Dune: Part Two,” when she wore futuristic looks that echoed the vibes of that sci-fi hit, and “Challengers,” when she remixed tennis wear in support of that romantic triangle.

In an interview with Vogue, Roach called their strategy “ method dressing.” The crowning achievement was an archival Thierry Mugler robot suit that had mouths agape at the London “Dune” premiere. And the Loewe gown with the silhouette of a tennis player mid-serve for “Challengers” was also pretty excellent.

The Apathy Tour

Sometimes a performer is aware that the movie is a stinker, and yet the press tour is required anyway. That seemed to be the case when Dakota Johnson hit the road for “Madame Web” this year. Did she really hate the movie? Was she just joking around? Or was it somewhere in between?

Whatever Johnson’s true intentions were, audiences were glued to the ways in which she seemed to dispassionately discuss the film, telling Seth Meyers with a hint of sarcasm in her voice , “You don’t have to know anything at all to watch this movie.” She also called the experience of acting against a blue screen with fake explosions “ absolutely psychotic .” And it was hard not to read more into her declaration that Hollywood is “ bleak ” when it comes to her own projects given that she was supposed to be shilling for a studio blockbuster based on a third-rate Spider-Man villain.

The Repetitive Tour

When Lady Gaga was promoting “A Star Is Born” in 2018, she repeated one line over and over again. At various stops, Gaga would praise her director and co-star, Bradley Cooper, by saying : “There can be a hundred people in the room and 99 don’t believe in you.” When you’re doing so many interviews, it is natural to repeat yourself, but Gaga was so intent on this refrain that it almost became endearing.

The same went for Josh O’Connor’s insistence on bringing up his love for the 2007 Pixar film “Ratatouille” while on the road for “Challengers” and the Italian film “La Chimera.” The film app Letterboxd has a series asking celebrities to name their four favorite movies and the last four they watched, on red carpets and at junkets. O’Connor listed “Ratatouille” in both categories. The movie he may have been primarily promoting was Luca Guadagnino’s sexy tennis drama , but his adoration of the movie about the chef rat was positively wholesome.
