The BCCI on Monday announced the Indian squads for the tour of Bangladesh, which will consist of two Tests and three ODIs. The Men in Blue will tour Bangladesh in the month of December 2022 after the completion of the ICC T20 World Cup and the New Zealand tour.

Notably, Rohit Sharma will lead India in both ODI and Tests , while KL Rahul will be his deputy. However, batter Prithvi Shaw, who has been in terrific form lately and also smashed his maiden T20 century during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match recently, has been ignored by the selectors.

Also, Ravindra Jadeja has been named in both ODI and T20I squads after he was ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 due to a knee injury. However, the all-rounder will be part of the tour only if he regains full fitness.

Moreover, bowling all-rounder, Deepak Chahar has been named in the ODI squad after he was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to back issues.

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara has retained his place in the Test squad after his form revival in County Cricket. However, former India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and batter Hanuma Vihari failed to find a place in the team.

Interestingly, the Bangladesh tour will also mark the return of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul as they have been rested for the preceding series against New Zealand.

India will kick off their tour of Bangladesh on 4th December with the ODI series scheduled to take place before the two Tests that will be taking place in Chattogram and Dhaka. India to tour Bangladesh for five-match T20I series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has released the schedule for the upcoming home assignment against India later this month.

India will tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series in April-May, starting on 28 April. Three out of the five matches will be day-night encounters, with all the games set to be played in Sylhet.

The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is all set to be played in Bangladesh at the end of this year, and the series will play a crucial role in helping both teams prepare for the tournament.

While Bangladesh will look to capitalise on the advantage of playing at home, India will aim to leverage their familiarity with the conditions to their advantage.

In the ICC Women's T20I Rankings, India are placed at the No.3 position while Bangladesh are No.9.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s side qualified for this year’s tournament after finishing as one of the top six teams in the last edition in 2023 in South Africa – they made the semi-finals before losing out to eventual winners Australia. Bangladesh earned direct qualification as hosts.

India last toured Bangladesh in July 2023, when they played three T20Is, followed by three ICC Women’s Championship ODIs. While India won the T20I series 2-1, the ODI series witnessed a dramatic shift in momentum.

Bangladesh registered their first-ever victory against India in Women’s ODIs by winning the series opener.

However, the visitors bounced back in the next game, leading to a series-deciding encounter. The last game ended in a tie after Bangladesh bowled India out for 225 in their chase of 226, with just three balls to spare. As a result, both teams ended up sharing the series.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav are the notable additions to the India ‘A’ squad for the second game from December 6 onwards, while consistent performers in the domestic circuit of-late in Yash Dhull, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and Tilak Varma have also made it to the squads for both the matches.

India tour of Bangladesh 2022 team squad

Present all-format skipper Rohit Sharma will return back to the fold for the Bangladesh ODIs beginning December 4 (Sunday), as will the likes of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

Rajat Patidar, who had earned a maiden call-up to the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa, will yet again try his luck out to make his India debut against Bangladesh, alongside pacer Kuldeep Sen.

The biggest news is the failure for experienced allrounder Ravindra Jadeja to recover back from his injury , which provides an opportunity for allrounder Shahbaz Ahmed to make a mark at the biggest stage yet again.

India ODI squad : Rohit Sharma (C), KL  Rahul (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Rishabh Pant (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shahbaz Ahmed, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Sen.

The three ODIs will take place on December 4 (Dhaka), December 7 (Dhaka), and December 10 (Chattogram), followed by two Tests from December 14 onwards.

BCB announces itinerary for India women's T20I tour of Bangladesh

India are slated to play a five-match t20i series against bangladesh. india's previous tour of bangladesh was marred by controversies and it ended with skipper harmanpreet kaur copping a two-game ban..

India women's tour of Bangladesh

The Indian team is expected to reach Bangladesh on April 23 and will get a few days to acclimatise itself before the first T20I on April 28. Three out of the five games will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) whereas two matches will be conducted at the outer stadium.

The five-match tour will help India in getting used to the nature of wickets in the country and the conditions. The bilateral series will also aid India in their preparations for the Asia Cup, slated to be played in July. The Asia Cup is expected to be bigger and better as a total of eight teams will be participating in the tournament this time around.

The President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Jay Shah has already mentioned that the tournament will add to the competitiveness and growth of women's cricket in the region.

"The Women's T20I Asia Cup 2024 underscores the ACC's commitment to promoting women's cricket in the region," said Shah in a statement released by the ACC.

"We are excited to see the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, reflecting the growing popularity and importance of women's cricket. This expansion, from six teams in 2018 to seven in 2022, and now eight, is a testament to our commitment to the women’s game and the burgeoning talent pool in Asian cricket. We anticipate an exciting tournament that will inspire both players and fans.

"The Women's T20I Asia Cup has become a significant event in the ACC calendar, providing a platform for women cricketers to showcase their skills and passion for the sport. The ACC remains steadfast in its efforts to advance women's cricket and create more opportunities for women to excel internationally," he added.

India to tour Bangladesh for 5 T20Is as preparations for 2024 Women's T20 World Cup begin

H armanpreet Kaur-led Team India is all set to tour Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series, starting on April 28 and concluding on May 9. With the next edition of the Women's T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Bangladesh later this year, the upcoming tour will act as a preparatory series for the two sides.

Sylhet will host all five fixtures, with three of them being day-night matches. While the evening games will be played at the main stadium, the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS), the two T20Is scheduled for afternoon hours will be hosted at the academy ground situated next to SICS.

The Indian women's team's last international outing was at home when they hosted Australia for a multi-format series, which included a one-off Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, are currently hosting Australia for a bilateral series. The two sides squared off in a three-match ODI series, with the visitors winning all the fixtures. They're currently gearing up for the third and final game of the T20I series, where Australia have an unassailable 2-0 lead.

India and Bangladesh last faced each other in July 2023 when Harmanpreet Kaur & company toured the neighboring nation for three T20Is and as many ODIs. While India clinched the T20I series 2-1, the ODI series ended in a 1-1 stalemate with the third and decider game seeing a tie.

Bangladesh achieved a monumental feat in the ODI series opener, as they bagged their first-ever victory against India in the history of the 50-over format. India staged a comeback in the second game to level the series before the third match ended in a tie, leading to both teams sharing the trophy.

The third match ended on a controversial note when the Indian skipper openly criticized the umpires, calling their decisions "pathetic." Harmanpreet Kaur also smashed the stumps with her bat after being declared out during India's chase. She faced severe consequences and was banned from India's next two international fixtures.

The forthcoming T20I series against Bangladesh will also help the Women in Blue prepare themselves for the 2024 edition of the Women's Asia Cup , which is scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka in July 2024.

Of the eight seasons of the tournament, India have emerged victorious in seven and will enter the tournament as defending champions this year. While Bangladesh clinched the 2018 edition of the tournament, no other team has managed to win the Asia Cup.
