Thursday Announce 2022 Tour With ‘Dream Lineup’ of Veteran Emo Acts

Thursday have revealed U.S. dates for a jam-packed package tour in early 2022. To be headlined by the influential Geoff Rickly -led post-hardcore group, the trek will find its supporting bands in a hand-picked trio of classic emo acts — Cursive , former Sunny Day Real Estate singer Jeremy Enigk and The Appleseed Cast .

Thursday, of course, are the chic screamo popularizers who first blew up the scene with 2001's Full Collapse . The forlorn Cursive made a name for themselves in the same era on Midwestern emo label Saddle Creek Records. The silky-voiced Enigk has performed solo since last parting ways with emo favorites Sunny Day Real Estate. The post-rock-indebted The Appleseed Cast were a linchpin band for 2000s emo label Deep Elm.

Announcing the tour this week, Thursday said, "We couldn't be more excited about our first full U.S. tour back in action. No exaggeration: this is our dream lineup. We can barely believe we've pulled it off. Friends, heroes and collaborators, all pulling out the stops and turning back the clocks."

Thursday previously announced a string of  holiday shows  with Laura Jane Grace  for this December, including one in their home state of New Jersey.

Thursday's most recent album,  No Devolución , emerged in 2011. Rickly has also performed with hardcore act United Nations and the alt-rock No Devotion.

The Appleseed Cast are an indie rock band hailing from Southern California, United States who formed in 1997. Since debuting they have released eight studio albums and have become one of the most beloved and influential cult acts to come from the emo rock scene of the 1990's.

Originally coming together as December's Tragic Drive in Southern California, the band spent a year playing live and rehearsing together before deciding that the East Coast would be more receptive to their brand of eloquent, emotional indie rock. As a group, they signed to New York City's Deep Elm Records before relocating to North Carolina, where they recorded and released their debut album “The End Of The Ring Wars”. The record was hugely acclaimed by most who heard it, although it was derided as derivative of other bands by some. Either way, it wasn't enough to keep drummer Louie Ruiz in the fold, who left the band shortly before singer/guitarist Christopher Crisci, bassist Jason Wickersheim and guitarist Aaron Pillar relocated full-time to Lawrence, Kansas.

After picking up a new drummer in the form of Josh “Cobra” Baruth, the band's next four albums were a damning response to everyone who had written them off as Braid or Sunny Day Real Estate copyists earlier in their career. “Mare Vitalis”, “Low Level Owl” volumes one and two, and then “Two Conversations” were diverse, complex albums informed by electronica and post-rock as much as they were informed by Mineral, but the band continued to have line-up issues the whole time. In 2004 the band went on a year-long hiatus, returning to release their sixth album “Peregrine” in March 2006. Ever since then, the band has continued to be lead by their sole constant member Crisci, releasing albums that are just as acclaimed as the ones that came before it, and playing live shows that just get better with age. For that, The Appleseed Cast are a band that come highly recommended.

When I stumbled across "Hello Dearest Love" and "Steps and Numbers" a couple of years ago, I was itching for the opportunity to see The Appleseed Cast play a show. Oh my was it worth the wait. A small band that plays with a big heart, this is entirely reflected in their shows. Playing to a packed out Birthdays in London, you can see that the passionate front man that is Chris Crisci means every word as his quiet but assured vocals weave between their gentle but giant riffs and enigmatic timings as they fill the room to near bursting point. They hypnotise you with each and every note, pulling you from a slow groove to having more energy than you know what to do with. Definitely time which songs you want to have your drink in your hand for, otherwise those around you might not share your same enthusiasm for expressing yourself. As The Appleseed Cast have been exciting people’s ears since the late 90’s, they have quite the repertoire to pull from. When I saw them it was not long after the release of the powerful album “Illumination Ritual”, but they still squeezed in a couple of oldies with “Steps and Numbers”, “Fishing The Sky” and “As The Little Things Go” drawing cries, nostalgia and elation from the whole room.

Take your friends, take a deep breath and let The Appleseed Casts own unique post-rock wave wash over you.

Appleseed Cast was great, they are touring with Cursive and MewithoutYou. I went to the show to see Cursive and was pleasantly surprised by Appleseed Cast, would definitely see them again. Talented musicians with a lot of energy.

They are mind blowing. Period. Songkick is making me write 30 words so right now I am just typing. The first two comments will suffice for anyone who appreciates good music. Good music is real emotion, art, and dedication.

On Thursday night (March 28), Xavi is poised to launch his inaugural headlining tour Poco A Poco , with Mexico City’s Auditorio BlackBerry as his first destination, and Billboard Español can exclusively reveal the complete setlist.

With multiple dates sold-out, including his two Mexico stops and more in California, his tour has emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited events for an artist who was relatively unknown just a year ago.

Performing more than a dozen songs — including his Billboard chart-smashing hits “La Víctima,” “Poco a Poco” and “La Diabla,” the latter song which he’s set to play twice — the 2024 breakout star is expected to captivate audiences with his infectious energy. The setlist also includes his latest release “Corazón de Piedra.”

The 19-year-old will also perform songs from his first EP, endearingly titled My Mom’s Playlist , consisting of classic rock en Español covers, which he released on Mother’s Day 2023. Those include “Rayando El Sol,” originally by Maná, and “Ahora Te Puedes Marchar” by Luis Miguel.

Last month, the Phoenix-born artist performed in his ancestral homeland for the first time as a surprise guest at Karol G’s sold-out Estadio Azteca show. “He told me that he has never sung in his country, in Mexico,” La Bichota said when introducing the new hitmaker in February. “I told him that I was sure that the moment he started singing here, the stadium was going to turn up, and he was going to be proud of who he is.”

Recently, the singer-songwriter was part of a música Mexicana documentary by SoundCloud, alongside an all-star cast: Ivan Cornejo, DannyLux, and Conexión Divina; he was also Billboard ‘s January Latin Artist on the Rise .
