Jordan - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Holidays to Jordan will be incomplete without a visit to Petra

Located at the crossroads of Asia , Africa , and Europe , Jordan is a representation of all of the intersections that occur in that crossroads. Once home to Romans and Ottomans, holidays to Jordan will bring you its rich history and culture filled with color, heart, and vibrancy. Bordered by Iraq, Iran , Saudi Arabia, and Israel , a trip to Jordan has something for all travel bugs.

Tour Highlights

  • Visit the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, and go back in time to when things were a little simpler; if that’s not enough, it’s a modern Wonder of the World.
  • Experience the viciously natural cycle of Wadi Rum, a desert that is a day away from Aqaba and Petra.
  • Swim with the fishes in the Red Sea.
  • See wildlife and scenery that is ancient while remaining timeless at the Dana Biosphere Reserve.
  • Live in the dichotomy of the city of Amman ; urbane and modern in the West, and earthy and ancient in the East.

Travel Tips

  • Other than covering yourself appropriately — men with legs covered and women with arms, legs, and hair covered —there aren’t many customs that you need to worry about.
  • It is a very safe place to be; none of the revolts or riots have spilled over from its neighbors. However, being a tourist, one needs to follow the usual safety precautions.
  • Bring good walking shoes and breathable clothing; it’s hot and you’re going to be doing a lot of walking.
  • Water is safe to drink, although it is heavily chlorinated so it might taste bad; just to be safe, stick with bottled water and pasteurized milk.
  • Be aware of your sun limits; the sun is brutal and you could get badly sunburnt, or worse, pass out from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
  • If you need it, healthcare in Jordan is generally good, and there are hospitals in big cities and clinics in smaller villages.

Jordan has seasonal weather so please do check up on best time to visit Jordan before planning your tour. If you’re still hunting for more things to do and places to explore in Jordan, do check out our Jordan Travel Guide for more information.

When visiting Jordan, you’ll need to wear modest clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Bring light, loose-fit clothing for the heat and warm layers for chilly desert nights.

A scarf is a handy item for keeping the sun and sand off your face, and for covering your head or shoulders when entering religious sites.

Whether you’re floating in the Dead Sea, or snorkelling the coral reefs of the Red Sea, you’ll want to pack a swimsuit for your Jordan holiday.

Jordan Tours | The Best Guide to Choosing the Right Jordan Tour for You

There are so many different Jordan tours available from several big name tour operators that it can be hard to decide which one is the best for you. Then you throw in local tour operators in Jordan and you have even more choices. Some Jordan tours cater to families, while others are designed for young people or backpacker budget travellers and some offer luxury private itineraries and completely custom options.

After reading countless bad itinerary ideas, from both tour operators and from people who plan to see the country independently, I put together this guide to help travel planners with their Jordan tour options

Since, booking a Jordan holiday package is once-in-a-lifetime experience where you will visit Petra, Jerash, Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea aI compared some of the big names in the travel tours industry, as well as some local options and how to book the best private tours if you want to go that route.

Guide to Choosing between the Best Jordan Tours

Jordan - Petra - Petra by Night with Ski

What you want to know about booking a Tour to Jordan?

I have been helping a friend plan a trip to Jordan and there are SOOOOOO many questions to ask, sooooo many tours out there and when it is a country that you have not been to before, SOOOOO much confusion.

Here are a few things you should keep in mind when you are planning on booking a tour in Jordan

1. What is included in the Jordan Tour?

Do you have to make your way to the hotel before the tour commences?

Are you met on arrival at the airport and have a transfer to your hotel for the tour to begin?

2. Is your Visa included in the Jordan vacation packages?

Most tours that meet you at the airport will include the visa in the price of the tour. But if you do not have a transfer and have to make your own way to the start point, you will probably have to buy your own visa (which for me and many others, is 40 JD). You can get cash at the ATM inside Queen Alia International Airport BEFORE you get to the immigration desk, so do not worry about arriving with cash. You can also pay by credit card. You also will need to get transportation to Amman which is about 45 minutes away.

3. Are site entrance fees included on your Jordan tour and what options excursions are available?

Your tour itinerary should list everything that is included in your tour. Things like Petra entrance fees, the Citadel and Jerash, are all common things that will be included in your tour. But have a read of the optional excursions. Things like Snorkelling in Aqaba, Petra by Night and Camel Rides in Wadi Rum are usually optional and cost extra should you wish to partake in these activities.

4. What are you expected to pay out of pocket during your Jordan tour?

This is a big one and revolves around tips and meals. Jordan is a country that relies on tips. Whether it is your driver, your guide, breakfast staff, housekeeping or the bellboy getting your luggage out of the car or off the bus, they rely on tips to supplement the low wages in the country. Some large group tours will collect a tips kitty on arrival to distribute tips to some of those who provide services during your stay (such as bellboys and restaurant staff) but generally, you will still be expected to tip your tour guide and driver.

TIPPING GUIDE

Guide USD3-5 per person per day for larger group tours over 10 people

Private Guided Tour USD50 per day (1-4 people)

Driver USD2-3 per person per day for larger group tours over 10 people

Private Driver USD20 per day (1-4 people)

Housekeeping USD1-2 per room per night

Buffet Breakfast USD1-2 per person/couple/family

Bellboy USD1 per piece of luggage

Horses at Petra USD3-4 per person per horse (This is not for donkeys in the site. Pay the negotiated price for the donkey).

Camels In Wadi Rum USD3-5 per camel or ask your tour guide for advice, the price you pay for the camel may include a tip

Jeep Tour drivers USD 3-5 per vehicle

Taxi Drivers Round up to the nearest Dinar.

Washroom attendants 1 USD

5. How is the Jordan Itinerary?

Some Itineraries are terrible (in my opinion) as I have been there several times and know what I liked best and how long it takes to get from one place to the other. But my opinion may be different than yours and time and budget often comes into play. Make sure the hi-lights that you want to see are included and you have sufficient time to see the places you want to.

For example, you CAN see Petra and Wadi Rum in ONE day. I have done it, on my first guided tour in Jordan. BUT it was a rush in Petra and we did not get to do things like the hike to the Monastery or to the Lookout above the Treasury on al Khubtha Trail. BUT, if you are doing a fast tour, you still SAW Petra. Many tours only come for 3 days and try to jam pack everything into a visit. But for me, the perfect tour of Jordan for a first-time visitor would be about 10 days.

Because there is so much that goes into choosing the perfect tour, I have come up with some packages that I think offer good value, good itineraries or other factors that travlers look for. These Itineraries are varied and appeal to a wide range of visitors to Jordan. Check out each one below, I am happy to answer any questions you have about any of these tours.

6. What is the Size of the Group?

If the thought of a big tour bus makes you turned right off tours, then keep in mind the max group size of these tours below. Up to 6 people fit into a Van in Jordan and then there are different sizes coaches for different sized groups.

If you are interested in a private small group tour, check out this post about Jordan private tours and guides.

Overwhelmed with Planning a trip to Jordan?

I have been to Jordan several times and after being asked again and again for suggestions, not only did I build this website but I created an interactive PDF guide to help you plan the best trip to Jordan! It includes an interactive map, multiple itineraries for up to 10 days and as little as three days and plenty of practical information about renting a car and driving in Jordan. G adventures Classic Jordan 8 Days (3 nights in Jordan)

Although I have never taken a G Adventures tour, everyone that I know who has, has nothing but rave reviews! G Adventures prides itself on using local hotels and services that directly benefot those who call Jordan home. This tour is one of their highest rated with 100% of the services being locally run. Whether it is the hotel, the guide or the local team on the ground, they are all Jordanians living and working in the country.

What you will not see on a G Adventures Tour in Jordan is 5 Star household named hotels such as the Marriott or Intercontinental. This also means that you are most likely staying in mid-range accommodations.

I like that this tour gives you an overnight in a bedouin camp in Wadi Rum and plenty of time to see the highlights of Jordan. Their max group size is 15 and their departures are guaranteed, even if it does not sell out. Singles do not pay more to travel on G Adventures tours but will be paired up with another same-sex solo traveller. If you want your own room on this tour, there is an optional single supplement.

I do not like that you are responsible for getting to Jordan and getting to the start point on this tour. This means you need to pay for your visa (JD40) and get to the hotel. BUT it does offer the opportunity to come earlier and explore on your own, or come over from Israel by land before the tour starts.

Experience Jordan Trekking Dana to Petra (8 nights)

Much of this tour is spent trekking one of the best trails in the world. It is probably the most popular section of the Jordan trail and popular among hikers. You will spend 4 days hiking and camping before arriving into Petra and then finishing at the Dead Sea. This tour does not see a lot of Jordan, but you get the main highlights of Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. It is designed for active people who want to get their boots dirty and hike.

I personally love the outdoors and this is a great itinerary for those who want to do some hiking in Jordan. The Dana to Petra trail is mostly unmarked so having Experience Jordan put it together for you makes it much easier.

Experience Jordan is a well known tour operator in Jordan and are known for great trips. This group has a max of 14 and is for adults 18 and up. I like that this tour offers airport pick up and drop off.

** Check the full Itinerary and dates by clicking here.**

Jordan and Egypt with G Adventures 15 days (8 nights in Jordan)

This tour is an extension of the 8 day itinerary above. It is great for those who have more time and want to see more of the Middle East. It balances Egypt and Jordan well with a week in each country and hits the big sites. if you have time to see both Jordan and Egypt and love the G Adventures brand, or are keen to try it out for the first time, this is a great option to see both the Pyramids and Petra!

(I have a post coming soon about choosing between Egypt or Jordan and how to do both. This is a great example on how to do both)

** Check the full Itinerary and dates by clicking here **

Jordan and Israel for Contiki Tours (18-35 year olds) 11 days

What I like about this tour is that you get the best of Jordan and Israel in Just 11 days. The downside to this tour is it is a whirlwind visit. You could easily spend 11 days in each country! I do not like that there is no overnight in Wadi Rum (as that is one of my favorite things to do in Jordan ) but you do at least visit the desert. Having never been to Wadi Rum, when travellers are looking at tours, they have no idea that spending a night in the desert is really a must-do!

This tour is also very Israel focused with most of your time spent there (including your Dead Sea visit). I would not suggest this tour for young people who want a Jordan focused tour, it is more of an Israel experience with a bit of Jordan thrown in since you are already in the Middle East.

The 6 Best Jordan Tours For Unforgettable Adventures That Are Achievable & Affordable

Expert travel storyteller Jordan Adkins, founder of InspiredByMaps.com, brings a decade of adventures across 101 countries and 450+ UNESCO sites into rich, off-the-beaten-path narratives, melding ecological expertise with genuine, seasoned travel insights. His full bio can be found here.

Strategically situated in the Middle East and often referred to as the Hashemite Kingdom, Jordan has a variety of landscapes and is one of the best countries for travelers to explore. Jordan is bordered by Israel and the Palestinian National Authority to the west, Syria to the north, Iraq to the northeast, and Saudi Arabia to the east and south.

The country is 89,213 square kilometers, with desert making up about 75% of its area. The Dead Sea, located 408 meters below sea level, is found in Jordan and is regarded as the lowest location on Earth. Jebel Umm El Dami, which is 1854 meters above sea level, is the highest point in Jordan, in comparison.

Jordan is a country rich in history, Some of the first settlements and villages in human history were settled here, and remnants of many of the world’s greatest civilizations may still be found today.

The country has functioned as a vital hub linking Asia, Africa, and Europe. Since the beginning of civilization, Jordan has played a significant role as a commercial and communication route connecting north, south, east, and west thanks to its geographic location. Jordan still fulfills this function now.

Jordan is home to many religious and historical sites, including Petra, Mount Nebo, Jerash, and more. Most people travel to Jordan to discover its history.

The capital, Amman, is in the northwest of the country. Amman is where many tourists start their Jordanian journey and where some say, “The magic happens.” Jordan is a desirable destination due to its topography, political stability, world-class hospitality, rich history, and intriguing culture.

Jordan’s national economy depends heavily on tourism. It is the second-biggest employment in the private sector, the second-highest creator of foreign exchange, and the largest export sector in the Kingdom. Tourism in Jordan generates more than $800 million in revenue each year. Jordan’s most popular tourist attractions include several historical landmarks like Petra, its distinctive desert castles, and its cultural and religious monuments.

Planning a trip to Jordan is an exciting experience for everyone involved. Jordan is well known for its beauty and breathtaking scenery. It’s also well known for its intense history. Many travelers flock to Jordan to discover its ancient religious history. Some come to discover Petra, Wadi Rum, or the Dead Sea. When looking to travel to Jordan, booking an organized tour is important.

This is so important because it is difficult to get from one site to the next. Each popular site is quite far away from the other, and there isn’t much in terms of transportation to connect everything. It can also be exciting to learn about the country through the eyes of a local guide and get the insight you may have never gained if you went independently. With that being said, it is vital to book a multiday tour.

All the logistics, long car rides, and planning can be left to the experts, and you can travel with peace of mind knowing everything is already arranged for you. So without further adieu, let’s look at the top six multiday best Jordan tours.

Culture and customs.

As a Muslim country, Jordan’s culture is quite conservative, although not as conservative as some other Middle Eastern countries. Western influences (particularly in Amman and other large cities) have infiltrated Jordanian society so Jordan now possesses a mix of Arabian customs amid modern ways of life. Due to immigration, Jordan now has a significant Palestinian and Iraqi population, adding to the cultural diversity of the country.

Despite the outside influences, Islamic traditions are strong in Jordan with spectacular mosques signalling the call to prayer five times a day, Ramadan being observed each year and some segregation of the sexes occurring.

The desert-dwelling Bedouin have a distinct culture of their own, drawing on traditions that have been passed down for centuries. Living a largely nomadic lifestyle, the Bedouin rely on the herding of animals and the creation of handicrafts in the absence of a fertile environment to farm. With a strong musical heritage, traditional instruments are played and time-honored traditions are continued.

Hospitality is a crucial element of Jordanian culture. Most visitors will be humbled by the kindness, sincerity and genuine care showed by Jordanians. Being welcomed into peoples’ homes is common, and can probably be attributed to the custom of welcoming strangers and sharing food when travelling in the unforgiving desert.

Eating and drinking

Intrepid believes that one of the best ways to experience a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savouring a cheap eat or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world. Featuring typical Middle Eastern ingredients like lamb, chickpeas, garlic and a range of aromatic herbs and spices, Jordanian cuisine is delicious.

Things to try in Jordan

Like many other Middle Eastern countries, a plate of shared breads and dips is a great way to begin a feast.

This traditional Bedouin dish of lamb and yoghurt is usually served with rice and bread. This is the national dish of Jordan, so definitely try it before you leave.

These small, sweet pastries made with honey and nuts will have you going back for more.

The coffee in Jordan is strong. Often spiced with a hint of cardamom, coffee is strongly linked to the famed Jordanian hospitality, so drink up – it would be rude not to!

Geography and environment

Jordan is made up of a staggeringly diverse range of natural environments. From stark deserts to towering mountains, fertile wetlands, coastal reefs and urban cities, journeying through Jordan provides changing scenery and varying conditions.

Sharing borders with Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Jordan mixes modern architecture with heritage-filled buildings, well-manicured streets with historic alleyways and impressive mansions with simple homes.

Modern, developed cities like Amman and Aqaba feature unique architecture, spectacular mosques, five-star hotels and resorts. Small villages with rustic housing populate the less-built-up rural areas and Bedouin tents made of goat hair can be found in desert areas.

History and government

Early history.

The country now known as Jordan was originally inhabited by the Nabataeans thousands of years ago. Over the centuries, Jordan has been a place conquered and inhabited by many different people including the Romans, Greeks, Assyrians, Ottoman Turks, Egyptians and Mamluks (people of Kurdish origins). All these influences can still be seen today in Jordan's ancient ruins, architecture, crafts and arts. Many battles were fought in Ancient Jordan, including the Christian crusaders who clashed with Islamic Forces in Jordan during the 11th and 12th centuries. The first Muslim Dynasty began with the Umayyad Empire in 661.

Recent history

In 1950, Jordan was renamed the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and in 1951, King Abdullah I was assassinated while visiting a mosque. His eldest son became king but was removed from his duties in 1952 due to mental illness. In 1953, his teenage son Hussein Ibn Talal became king, and continued to rule for over 40 years. In the 1960s, Jordan saw many immigrants arrive and settle – mainly Palestinians escaping the conflict in their homeland.

In 1999, King Abdullah II succeeded his father King Hussein and continues to rule Jordan now. His reign has been characterised by liberal policies, economic reforms and technological advances. His wife, Queen Rania of Jordan, has a visible public profile, is active in many social causes and is regarded internationally as a highly influential woman.

If you require a stay longer than 14 days, visas obtained from the embassy in your home country will be valid for two months.

When is the best time to visit Jordan?

The weather in Jordan can get quite extreme. Overall, it tends to be hot during the day and cold at night (in desert areas, expect it to be extremely hot during the day and freezing at night). Yet during winter it can get bitterly cold, with snowfall occurring in some parts of the country.

Travelling during the summer months (June, July and August) can be challenging for those not accustomed to the heat, so visiting Jordan during spring and autumn is recommended for those who wish to escape the hotter temperatures.

Homosexuality has been decriminalised in Jordan since 1951, and while Jordanians who identify as having an LGBTQIA+ identity will not be criminalised, many people continue to hide their sexuality or identity from their families and there is still a deep social stigma. As long as LGBTQIA+ travellers display some discretion and respect for local culture, particularly when visiting places outside of the major cities and tourist areas, they will have no problem visiting Jordan.

A taste of jordan - petra and wadi rum, enjoy luxury jordan tour 8 day & 7 nights.

Absolutely, tours in Jordan offer exceptional value for money. Given the logistical complexities of exploring the country, a significant number of travelers opt for guided tours in Jordan. Local tour operators specialize in crafting all-inclusive trips that encompass transportation, lodging, meals, activities, local guides, and more. While it is possible to plan your own journey, in many destinations, the additional cost of a tour is fully justified by the convenience and peace of mind that come with having every detail meticulously arranged in advance.

Navigating the travel costs of Jordan often reveals that tours can be a pocket-friendly alternative to independent travel, depending on the tour's specifics such as the destinations, travel style, duration, and other factors. Naturally, every tour and independent trip will be different and have its own cost. Typically, tour providers bundle an array of offerings into an attractively competitive price, often rivalling the expenditure of an independent journey with a similar level of luxury. The average daily expenses for a tour in Jordan is calculated to be approximately $248, yet numerous tours fall below this price. Prices for tours in Jordan span from $205 to $16,000. When comparing tour costs against independent trips in Jordan, it's wise to factor in that most organized guided tours include accommodations, transport, guides, meals, entry tickets, and much more. So, when comparing tour packages with trips planned by yourself, keep in mind the differences because it's not always an equal comparison. To paint an accurate picture of the trip and its costs, make sure you know what is included in the tour package before comparing its price against your own trip plans. Also, diving deep into the costs of independent travel in Jordan is also necessary to find an accurate comparison.

Group Tours vs. Independent Travel in Jordan

For many travelers, the decision between an organized tour package and independent travel can be quite challenging. However, considering the variety of enticing deals and sales available, traveling in Jordan during 2024 or 2025 presents an excellent opportunity to explore the benefits of organized tour packages. These packages, which typically cover accommodations, entry tickets, food, and transportation, offer exceptional value. Moreover, the inclusion of knowledgeable guides ensures a seamless and enriching experience, alleviating the need for extensive trip planning. Conversely, independent travel provides the advantage of greater flexibility and control over your travel plans, allowing you to adjust your schedule and budget to suit your preferences. It also facilitates a closer connection with local cultures and enables you to visit destinations that may not be included in organized tours.

What are the benefits of a package tour to Jordan?

Opting for a tour while traveling brings numerous benefits. One of the best parts of a tour is the unmatched convenience of having every aspect of your journey meticulously arranged. With transportation, accommodations, and activities planned out, you can enjoy a stress-free experience, knowing that all the essentials have been taken care of. This eliminates the need to worry about finding suitable accommodations, organizing logistics, or potentially overlooking any key attractions. Furthermore, the majority of tours offer all-inclusive pricing, allowing you to know the exact cost of your trip beforehand. Benefits of a tour include

  • fixed budget
  • reliable service and schedule
  • knowledgeable guides
  • comfortable amenities
  • not having to plan
  • meeting other like-minded travelers
  • eliminating risks

What are the benefits of independent travel in Jordan?

Independent travel provides freedom, control, and flexibility that that many travelers love. By traveling on your own, you have the freedom to choose your accommodation, visit the attractions that interest you, eat at your preferred times, and explore the destination at your own pace. This level of independence also allows you to have more control over your budget, schedule, itinerary, and the level of comfort you desire during your travels. Benefits also include:

  • flexible budget
  • flexible schedules
  • in-depth cultural opportunities
  • off-the-beaten-path destinations

For your tour to Jordan, it is advisable to plan and book well in advance, ideally a few months or more beforehand. While it is not uncommon for some individuals to secure their tours up to a year in advance, our experience suggests that reserving your spot approximately 6 to 9 months prior to the departure date is usually sufficient. It is important to note that many tours tend to reach full capacity early, so booking early guarantees your place on the trip. Additionally, booking early often comes with the advantage of potentially significant cost savings, as tour companies frequently provide early booking sales and discounted prices. However, it is worth noting that some tour companies may occasionally offer last-minute discounts for tours that have available spots. Yet, waiting for such discounts carries the risk of missing out on a spot if the tour becomes fully booked.

The number of travelers on tours in Jordan can vary greatly, ranging from 4 to 90 individuals, with an average group size of 25 people. However, it is important to note that the size of the tour does not necessarily determine its quality or price.

You'll likely need around 7 days for a tour to Jordan, as this is the average length of most organized tour packages. Tours in Jordan can last anywhere from 2 to 13 days, or sometimes longer. Keep in mind that longer tours tend to cost more money, but will actually get cheaper by the day. Also, longer tours will usually allow you to see more destinations at a reasonable pace, making them a generally better value.

Where do group tours go in Jordan?

The most popular stops in Jordan are Petra, Amman, Madaba, Jerash, Aqaba, Ajloun, Kerak, and As-Salt, and many of the tours pass through these destinations.

What tour and travel companies offer packages to Jordan?

A wide range of tour companies offer trips to Jordan. Some companies are large international brands, while others are more regionally or locally based. The benefits and challenges of each company can vary based on its size and level of experience. International companies often have well-established reputations, and tours are rarely canceled due to low turnout. However, they might not have the same local perspectives and insights that you'll find with a smaller, locally based company.

The most popular companies offering tours in Jordan are On The Go Tours , Remaz Tours GmbH , Vacations to go travel , Booking Tours , and Trip500 . Some are larger than others, while some are focused on specific regions or types of trips.

Eid Al Fitr boosts international, domestic tourism in Jordan

A MMAN — Eid Al Fitr has significantly improved the inbound tours in various tourist and archaeological areas across the country, according to stakeholders.

Speaking with The Jordan Times on Wednesday, Mahmoud Waleed, a tourism operator and owner of a travel and tourism agency, said that “the majority of tourists went to Aqaba duringthis Eid … while much smaller numbers of visitors went to Petra and Wadi Rum”.

Furthermore, Waleed said that the four-day Eid period witnessed a sharp rise in staycation reservations. Noting that “Almost all stakeholders observed heightened activity, especially in the regions of Ajloun, Jerash and Irbid”.

He said that “traditionally, Eid public holidays are a very busy period, however, when compared with previous years, we can see that the demand was a bit higher this year”.

Deputy President of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Tourism and Economy Commissioner Hamzah Hajj-Hassan on Saturday said that some 110,000 tourists visited Aqaba during Eid Al Fitr holiday until Friday, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Hajj-Hassan said that some 95,000 of the total tourists entered the coastal city through Wadi Al Yutom and Wadi Araba crossings, and 15,000 visitors entered Aqaba through international land ports, seaports and the airport.

According to Salama Khattar, a representative of the Jordan Society of Tourism and Travel Agents, the “Urdun Jannah” programme, which encourages domestic tourism, has played a key role in stimulating inbound tourism during Eid.

He pointed out that the programme has helped bring a diverse range of hospitality experiences to people.

In this regard, Batoul Huthaifa, 24 years old, told The Jordan Times over the phone that “most of the families I know went on a trip or rented a villa near the Dead Sea or Jerash on Thursday or Friday…” adding that she went to Irbid with her family and the favourable weather was helpful.

Meanwhile, Osama Saif Eddin, an employee at a hotel in the Dead Sea, said that occupancy rates have risen by no less than 50 per cent, peaking on Friday and Thursday.

Highlights of Jordan

Our CEO Mohammed was great. The entire tour was amazing and we left feeling like part of a family. This was our first small group multi-day guided tour and we really liked the itinerary - it felt like the right amount of activities and down time. We didn’t have to do any planning apart from the flights and getting to and from the airport before and after the tour. Mohammed was really knowledgeable and good at getting us to places at the right times to avoid other large groups. Having the small group meant there are not too many people so youre not waiting around at sites for too long, you can hear what's being said, dip in and out if you want to, and there’s enough people to break off and do things with others if you want, particularly during evenings, down times and after the official tour finishes. At the groups request, the CEO did a great job of finding us great places to eat, even during Ramadan with reasonable prices and made sure we could try the local cuisines for different parts of the country. Fantastic tour and we’d definitely recommend and use G and Tour Radar again.

This was a great tour! I really lucked out because I had other travel plans fall through and came to Jordan with only about 24 hours notice and less than a week before this tour started (fortunately another group had already booked one in my available time frame and I was able to tag along) Food was great (note: I'm not a vegetarian), sites were amazing, and Amer was a fantastic guide. Had great insights to the culture and advice on maximizing time at the sites. Petra, of course, was great, but I thought Jaresh and Wadi Rum were even better. Dead Sea and Mount Nebo also were high lights. Amman was very accessible... Take an extra day to see the Jordan Museum and wander Rainbow Street.

Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Brian Harman among notables to miss the cut at the Masters

Change Text Size

Jordan Spieth made a 9 at the par-5 15th in the first round of the Masters Tournament, matching his highest single-hole score on TOUR, en route to missing the cut by three strokes.

That was a harbinger of the cut-line chaos that unfolded Friday afternoon at Augusta National Golf Club, where 60 players made the cut at 6-over 148 or better. Players to miss the cut also included the last two major champions in Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman, in addition to world No. 6 Viktor Hovland, who carded a second-round 81 that included a three-putt double bogey from 5 feet at the par-5 15th hole, finishing two outside the number at 8-over 152.

Perhaps no player missed the cut in more heartbreaking fashion than Justin Thomas, who played his last four holes in 7-over for a back-nine 42 to miss by one stroke. Thomas was even-par for the tournament as he arrived at the 15th hole late Friday afternoon, but his second shot found the pond fronting the green, leading to a double bogey, which he followed with a double bogey at No. 16, bogey at No. 17 and double bogey at No. 18. It marked Thomas’ fourth missed cut in his last five major starts, and it bore similarities to his missed cut at last year’s Masters, where he also carded a back-nine 42 to miss the cut by one.

As the winds gusted Friday afternoon and the course continually dried out, scoring conditions grew more perilous by the minute. For most of Friday, the cut line looked most likely to settle at 4-over 146. Then it moved to 5-over 147 for a brief period. Then in the waning daylight, the cut line settled at 6-over 148, with 60 players advancing to the weekend at the Masters.

After 36 holes, the Masters field is cut to the low 50 players and ties. The second round finished with 11 players tied for 50th place at 6-over; if any one of these players finished a stroke better, the cut line would have been 5-over. Perilous margins on a perilous afternoon amidst Augusta’s famed loblolly pines, where three players share the lead at 6-under 138: Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa and Bryson DeChambeau.

Playing in Friday’s final grouping, reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark had a chance to become the 61st player onward to the weekend. Following a three-putt bogey at the 17th hole, Clark bombed a drive on the finishing hole and feathered a short iron to 13 feet for a birdie try that would move him to 6-over. The putt tracked toward the hole but turned right at the end, and he joined reigning U.S. Amateur champion Nick Dunlap (who had a 38-foot birdie try at the finishing hole) as 2023 USGA winners to miss the cut by one. Dunlap’s afternoon was not without heroics, as the 20-year-old made birdie at Nos. 13, 15 and 17 (against a bogey at No. 16) in a valiant effort that fell one stroke shy.

Joining Clark, Dunlap and Thomas at 7-over 149, missing the cut by one stroke, were Justin Rose, Sungjae Im, Austin Eckroat, Zach Johnson, Mike Weir, Lee Hodges and Sergio Garcia.

Players to advance on the number (6-over 148) included Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama, Grayson Murray, Si Woo Kim, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Jake Knapp, Luke List, Thorbjørn Olesen, Russell Henley and two-time Masters winner Jose Maria Olazábal – who at age 58 overcame a triple bogey at the par-3 12th with a birdie at No. 16 to advance to the weekend.

Vijay Singh (4-over 146) was the oldest player to make the cut, carding rounds of 75-73 at age 61. The 2000 Masters champion will play the weekend at Augusta National for the first time since 2018.

Ohio State’s Neal Shipley, last year’s U.S. Amateur runner-up, advanced to the weekend at 3-over 145, securing low amateur honors as the only of five amateurs in the field to make the cut.

In all, 29 players failed to advance to the weekend, perhaps no name more startling than Spieth, whose game through the years has shown to fit Augusta National’s demands more than most. His missed cut stems back to the mercurial 15th in the opening round. After safely laying up to 77 yards, Spieth missed the green long on his third shot, and his pitch rolled across the green and into the pond fronting the green. He walked all the way back around the pond to play his sixth shot, which again sailed over the green. He chipped on and two-putted for 9, tying the highest single-hole score of his PGA TOUR career.

Spieth began the 15th hole at 2-over, and he ended it at 6-over. He followed the quadruple bogey with a par-bogey-par finish to his first round, and he wouldn’t get any closer to the cut line for the rest of his Masters.

Spieth, 30, reported wrist trouble that affected his preparation for last week’s Valero Texas Open, but he finished T10 anyway in his final start before the Masters. The week began with buzz regarding whether the Texan could recapture the form that produced a win and a pair of runners-up in his first three Masters appearances (2014-16). It wasn’t meant to be, but the good news for Spieth lies within his lifetime Masters invitation per his 2015 victory. He’ll have more chances to earn a second green jacket.

Burns stood well outside the cut line after an opening-round 80, but he moved to the precipice with birdies on Nos. 10, 12 and 13 in the second round, which put him at 5-over total. The LSU alum made bogey on No. 15, double bogey on No. 16 and bogey on No. 17 to finish outside the line for the second time in three Masters starts.

Harman will lament a back-nine 47 in his opening round, which included a triple bogey on No. 16 followed by back-to-back double bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18. That followed an encouraging 2-under 34 to start the Masters, and he carded a respectable even-par 72 in a blustery second round. Although he was 2-under across three of his four nines, that 47 means the reigning Open champion will sit this weekend out.

Couples has struggled with back issues throughout his career, and this week was no different as he gingerly navigated hilly Augusta National with rounds of 80-76. Couples vowed afterward, though, that he would return again to compete at the Masters. “I'm planning on being healthy and making the cut and telling Fred (Ridley, chairman of Augusta National) I'm coming back the next year, too,” he said afterward.

As a Masters champion, after all, Couples has earned the right to do so.

2024 Masters Tournament: Scottie Scheffler leads predictions and odds for iconic golf event

tours for jordan

The 2024 Masters Tournament is almost here. The biggest golf event of the year features dozens of the top players in the sport competing at Augusta National Golf Club over four days.

But who will win the major tournament? Last year, Jon Rahm won by four strokes over Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson. In 2024, Rahm's played well since switching to LIV Golf. Scottie Scheffler, the 2022 Masters winner, has looked like one of the best golfers in the world so far this year. Koepka's finished second in Augusta twice; 2024 could be the year he finally breaks through.

A first-time winner's donned the green jacket in eight of the past nine years and Augusta could see another new name hoist the trophy in 2024.

Masters 2024 predictions, odds: How will Tiger Woods perform in the Masters this year?

2024 Masters Tournament predictions roundup

The augusta chronicle : scottie scheffler is the top pick.

Tyler Palmateer writes: "He’s the favorite, having won at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship in back-to-back weeks earlier this season, followed by a runner-up finish at the Houston Open. Scheffler ranks atop nearly all of the PGA Tour’s ball-striking statistical categories. Can he really keep this streak going? If he wins at Augusta National, he’d have won three of his past four starts, including The Players and Masters, with a runner-up finish squeezed in."

Golfweek : Long shot: Nick Dunlap

Adam Thompson writes: "Dunlap is just 20, he just turned pro, and first-time Masters golfers don’t win it (Fuzzy Zoeller was the last to do it, in 1979). But Dunlap is different... In his short time on the Tour, he ranks No. 1 in fewest puts, No. 2 in Par-5 Scoring and Top 10 in driving distance – all key attributes to own at Augusta. He’s had just one other Top 40 finish in six starts, so he’s a big-time dark horse, but the value is too much to pass up."

Ben Everill, PGATour.com : Xander Schauffele

Everill says: "Look, we all know Scheffler has the chance to take this tournament and run with it but my process of elimination story brought me a winner last year and I’m banking it can do it again. Schauffele is ready to contend again… and you have to be knocking on the door to eventually be let in. Back off my blacklist and into the furnace!"

DraftKings Network : Scottie Scheffler

Landon Silinsky writes: "No one on the planet right now comes close to Scheffler, and both the numbers and eye test bear that out... The talent gap between Scheffler and the field right now is approaching peak-Tiger levels. So far in 2024, Scheffler has seven top-10 finishes in eight starts, which include two wins and two additional top-three finishes across his past five. He won the Masters in 2022 in dominant fashion and followed that up with a T10 in his title defense last year. It’s hard to imagine him not sitting within two to three strokes of the lead come Sunday evening."

Chris Breece, PGATour.com : Scottie Scheffler

Breece says: "I’ll be that guy. My three finalists were him, Spieth and Schauffele. It came down to who I trusted most to win. And it’s not even close."

Will Gray, PGATour.com : Long shot: Russell Henley

Gray writes: "The former Georgia Bulldog finished T4 here a year ago and has been known to heat up on the greens from time to time. Two top-5s in his last three starts show signs of promise."

Washington Post : Long shot: Cameron Young

Matt Bonesteel says: "Young is coming off a tie for seventh at last year’s Masters, has four top-10s this year and is respectable enough on par-4s (12th in par-4 birdie or better, 31st in par-4 scoring). And while Young has yet to win on the PGA Tour, he has four top-10s in major tournaments, including a tie for eighth at last year’s British Open. A win is coming, and it could be at Augusta National."

Jordan Spieth’s troublesome wrist clouds Masters future for Dallas native

Jordan Spieth will be battling more than just the elements and his fellow competitors when the 88th Masters tees off on Thursday .

Spieth said he aggravated a wrist injury on Monday last week ahead of the Valero Texas Open, an issue that also popped up during the PGA Tour’s season-opening tournament in January, as well as before The Players Championship last month. He has been dealing with the wrist issue since last season.

“When it happens, I can’t do anything that day,” Spieth told reporters. “So long as it doesn’t happen during [the Masters]. Typically, as the week goes on, it gets better and better, using it more and more, and I’m recovering more and more than, say, my days off at home. I’m getting treatment daily here. That’s included with everything else that I didn’t used to do.”

The 2015 Masters champion from Dallas says he gives “constant TLC” to the ECU tendon issue which has not yet required surgery.

“When it flares up, it flares up for like 24 hours, and then it just slowly gets better,” Spieth said. “Last May, when I couldn’t play the Byron [Nelson] and then in October it was another week and a half or so. And since then, since I’ve gotten more on top of it by December. I at least know what it is and how to get it quickly better.”

Spieth, the 18th-ranked golfer in the world, has three top-10s in eight starts on tour this season, including a T-10th finish at the Valero Texas Open despite aggravating his wrist. He is coming up on two years since his last win and missed cuts at The Players Championship and Valspar Championship.

“I’ve come in here after a missed cut and had a chance to win, and I’ve come in here after losing in a playoff and winning,” Spieth said. “So in a way, I guess maybe that is a confidence more than a calming, where I don’t really go off of necessarily what’s just happened, but in general I have a really good gauge on where my game’s at.”

Augusta National suits him and his putting. He holds the record for leading after seven straight rounds and has played in the final group three times. He is set to tee off Thursday at 12:48 p.m. alongside former Texas Tech standout Ludvig Aberg and Sahith Theegala.

As far as his injury, Spieth says he’ll take “quite a bit of time when the season’s over” to monitor it.

“I don’t think there’s really anything I can do other than rest,” he said. “And I’m not resting it anytime soon.”
